Abstract:

AbstractLlano del Jícaro, Veracruz, is a workshop site where Olmec monuments were carved from exposed boulders of Cerro Cintepec basalt. The site, which lies in the hinterland of the major Olmec center of Laguna de los Cerros, was discovered in 1960 by Alfonso Medellín Zenil, who moved one of its unfinished monuments to the Museum of Anthropology in Jalapa. In 1991 more intensive archaeological investigations at Llano del Jícaro located nine additional boulders, including a tabletop altar, with evidence of carving. Excavations around four of these monoliths uncovered debitage and hammerstones from the manufacturing process. Survey also located the remains of the probable residences of the stonecarvers.

Abstract:

Magnolia zenii is a critically endangered species known from only 18 trees that survive on Baohua Mountain in Jiangsu province, China. Little information is available regarding its molecular biology, with no genomic study performed on M. zenii until now. We determined the complete plastid genome of M. zenii and identified microsatellites. Whole sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis using BI and ML methods were also conducted. The plastome of M. zenii was 160,048 bp long with 39.2% GC content and included a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 26,596 bp that separated a large single-copy (LSC) region of 88,098 bp and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,757 bp. One hundred thirty genes were identified, of which 79 were protein-coding genes, 37 were transfer RNAs, and eight were ribosomal RNAs. Thirty seven simple sequence repeats (SSRs) were also identified. Comparative analyses of genome structure and sequence data of closely-related species revealed five mutation hotspots, useful for future phylogenetic research. Magnolia zenii was placed as sister to M. biondii with strong support in all analyses. Overall, this study providing M. zenii genomic resources will be beneficial for the evolutionary study and phylogenetic reconstruction of Magnoliaceae.

Abstract:

Learning outcomes This case has four major learning outcomes using hands-on spreadsheet tool. First is to introduce and apply the Clarke and Wright’s Savings algorithm. Second is to conduct a cost-benefit analysis in transportation set up. Third is to find out the optimal route to be taken to fulfill given demand while satisfying time and capacity constraints. Finally, one has to optimize the number of vehicles required for daily operations. Case overview/synopsis Dhruvam, the protagonist of the case, working at ZeNXL, a third-party logistics service provider, was assigned the task of reducing the operational cost of the company as part of the new service offering called “Route optimization.” This new offering would help optimize vehicle delivery routes to meet daily customer demand. The launch of the new service offering was due in the next 10 days with client LG Electronics to be the first beneficiary. Complexity academic level MBA-1 (Logistics Management), MBA-2 (Route Optimization). This case provides an opportunity for instructors to introduce vehicle routing and scheduling as part of logistics management. Students are expected to use the data given in the case and exhibits to develop the optimal routes (using Clarke and Wright’s Savings algorithm) and conduct cost-benefit analysis. Abstract:

This article contributes to modern shipping history by analysing the Swedish state’s role as a ship owner in the 1970s and 1980s, when it at most controlled a fleet of 47 ships of six million deadweight tonnes, making it one of the world’s largest ship owners. The article, departing from a theoretical framework of the ‘state as entrepreneur’, describes the conception, functioning and dismantling of two state-owned shipping companies, Zenit and Uddevalla (UV) Shipping, and throws light on a hitherto undocumented aspect of modern Swedish maritime history. It argues that Zenit and UV Shipping had a significant impact on the development of the Swedish shipping industry in the 1970s and the 1980s.

El sitio arqueológico de “Huánuco Pampa”, uno de los tampus Inka mejor diseñados en los Andes Centrales durante la expansión del Tawantinsuyu, presenta evidencias de importantes alineamientos astronómicos asociados a los principales espacios y estructuras. Estos se pueden observar especialmente en la plataforma “Ushnu” y el “Inkawasi”; entre las “tianas” (asientos de piedra), nichos y accesos principales de ambas estructuras con fina albañilería Inka. Estos alineamientos están asociados a los “pasos solares” a través del zenit, anti-zenit, equinoccio y solsticios; salida y puesta de la Luna en sus posiciones extremas y; la salida y puesta de la Cruz del Sur, Alfa y Beta Centaurus. Con estas evidencias argumentamos la importancia del uso de la astronomía Inka en los grandes centros de control provincial.

Graliophilus zeilensis is described from Mount Zeil in the West MacDonnell Ranges. While Mt Zeil is the highest mountain in the Northern Territory of Australia, the average rainfall for the bioregion is less than 250 mm annually, well below the limit previously thought to support native earthworms. This record considerably extends the range of Graliophilus, which was formerly restricted to southern Australia. It also provides further evidence of a former continent-wide distribution of earthworms which has been confined to increasingly smaller refugia during the gradual desertification of much of Australia’s interior.

Abstract:

AbstractZenia insignis Chun is a large, fast-growing deciduous tree. In this study, we successfully developed a reliable and efficient protocol for the regeneration of fertile plants via callus induction from leaf segments of young Z. insignis seedlings. The best results were obtained with a medium containing 11.00 μM 6-benzyladenine (6-BA), 1.20 μM indole-3-butytric acid (IBA), and 0.45 μM 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), which yielded morphogenic callus within 2 weeks at a frequency of 62.23%. We tested the effect of IBA alone and in combination with 6-BA on the bud differentiation response of Z. insignis callus. Shoots differentiated normally when cultured on differentiation medium containing 6.00 μM 6-BA and 1.20 μM IBA. Regenerated buds elongated successfully in medium containing 1.20 μM gibberellic acid (GA3). The elongated shoots were then transferred to Murashige and Skoog basal medium supplemented with various combinations of naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) for root induction; well-developed roots were achieved on MS basal medium supplemented with 0.01 μM NAA at a rooting rate of 89.23%. Rooted plantlets were successfully acclimatised to a greenhouse at a survival rate exceeding 90.00%.

Os parques tecnológicos têm envolvido uma diversidade de situações que reclama considerações sobre a sua capacidade de contribuir para a redução do déficit institucional que assola o “sistema nacional de inovação” no Brasil. Com base no detalhamento de um estudo de caso, tentamos avançar o argumento de que esse tipo de institucionalidade envolve, mais do que uma resposta às novas demandas do sistema produtivo e econômico, processos indeterminados de construção sociopolítica conduzidos pela ação estratégica em meio a diferentes formas de resistência, a limitações de recursos econômicos e sociais, e a quadros regulatórios pré-existentes. A estratégia do parque pode, desse modo, construir uma institucionalidade que avança na direção de certos vínculos, mas deixa de integrar diferentes esferas e atores relevantes (parques de modelo acadêmico). A conjectura é discutida tomando-se como referência a recente experiência do “Zenit Parque da UFRGS”.AbstractTechnology parks have involved a variety of situations that call for considerations on their capacities to contribute to reducing the institutional deficit that plagues the “national innovation system” in Brazil. Based on the details of a case study, we try to advance the argument that this type of institutional framework involves more than a response to the new demands of the productive and economic system, undetermined processes of sociopolitical construction driven by strategic action amid different ways resistance, limitations of economic and social resources, and pre-existing regulatory frameworks. The park’s strategy can thus build an institutionality that advances in the direction of certain links but fails to integrate different spheres and relevant actors (academic model parks). The conjecture is discussed with reference to the recent experience of “Zenit Park at UFRGS.

Abstract:

Prior to being accepted as a real and systematic discipline translation has been lengthily considered a multi-sided driving force used to enable multi-cultural/linguistic communication. As experience shows, translation was born as a practical endeavour to convey social, historical and cultural disparities between countries and only in the 1960s, thanks to Holmes, it was recognised as a solid discipline inexorably intertwined with other disciplines. Moreover, and above all, translation is not just science, it is not a mere process of decoding the encoded – it is an art. Such categorisation is what made Otokar Fischer and other scholars faithfully promote translation as an interface between science and art. This is what this research will try to encompass. We will see how in literary translation, the art of translating marries the theory so that to explain the uniqueness of this discipline. In addition, we will see the concept of literariness as an element of paramount importance in literary translation and especially in poetry, the most sublime aka most problematic genre of literature. As P.B Shelley confesses in A Defence of Poetry: “Poetry ... awakens and enlarges the mind itself by rendering it the receptacle of a thousand unapprehended combinations of thought. Poetry lifts the veil from the hidden beauty of the world, and makes familiar objects be as if they were not familiar; it reproduces all that it represents, and the impersonations clothed in its Elysian light stand thenceforward in the minds of those who have once contemplated them, as memorials of that gentle and exalted content which extends itself over all thoughts and actions with which it coexists. (P.B. Shelley, 1904, 33). Dynamic equivalence is the key to achieve the explanation of complex phenomena through simpler phenomena happening in literary translation and especially in poetry. Through an inductive-descriptive method we aim at bringing light to how and to what extent literariness can be translated by analysing coram Allen Ginsberg’s Howl and its translation in Albanian Kujë by Ukë Zenel Buçpapaj. This way we will see the essential and irreplaceable niche literariness occupies in poetry translation.

Abstract:

Stem lodging causes significant losses in crops of cereals and oilseeds. The aim of the present study was to identify the anatomical causes that generate differences in response to stem lodging in sunflower. Two sunflower hybrids (Stay-Green, resistant to stem lodging; Zenit, susceptible to stem lodging) were grown at three crop population densities and artificially lodged at two advanced ontogeny stages (R7 and R8), which were preceded by ethephon application near the flower button stage (R1). Measurements included stem failure moment of force (Bs), thickness of primary and secondary structures in the stem lodging zone (t), diameter of the stem lodging zone (di), sclerenchyma packages area (sp), secondary xylem tissue area (xt) and yield. Stay-Green had significantly higher values for Bs, t, di, sp and xt. At higher crop densities and more advanced ontogeny stages these parameters were reduced, favouring stem lodging, although the effects were ameliorated by ethephon application through anatomical modifications. Zenit exhibited the greatest responses to ethephon application. The present study is the first field study identifying anatomical changes causing stem lodging and intraspecific variability in sunflowers. The information provided can be used by geneticists in selection programs for stem lodging tolerance in the context of increasing crop population densities to improve sunflower yield.

Abstract:

Hemp flour from Dacia Secuieni and Zenit varieties was added to bread in different proportions (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) to improve its nutritional properties. The purpose of this paper was to present the advanced nutritional characteristics of these bread samples. The selected varieties of hemp, accepted for human consumption, met the requirements for the maximum accepted level of THC in seeds. The protein content of new products increased from 8.76 to 11.48%, lipids increased from 0.59 to 5.41%, mineral content from 1.33 to 1.62%, and fiber content from 1.17 to 5.84%. Elasticity and porosity decreased from 95.51 to 80% and 78.65 to 72.24%, respectively. K, Mg, Ca, P, Mn and Fe are the main mineral substances in bread with addition of hemp flour from the Dacia Secuieni and Zenit varieties. The total amount of unsaturated fatty acids in the bread samples with hemp flour ranged from 67.93 g/100 g and 69.82 g/100 g. Eight amino acids were identified, of which three were essential (lysine, phenylalanine, histidine). Lysine, the deficient amino acid in wheat bread, increased from 0.003 to 0.101 g/100 g. Sucrose and fructose decreased with the addition of hemp flour, and glucose has not been identified. The amount of yeasts and molds decreased in the first 3 days of storage. Regarding the textural profile, the best results were obtained for the samples with 5% addition. In conclusion, bread with the addition of hemp flour has been shown to have superior nutritional properties to wheat bread.

Among the most important parts of improving breeding Ukrainian Red Dairy breed is not the most important place belongs to the intensive use of bull-sires with high breeding value, which is determined by the capacity daughters. Materials and methods of research. Studies conducted on materials zotehnichnoho primary accounting and breeding breeding farm "Zarya" Kherson region for the period 2010-2012. The object of the research was the daughter of the Ukrainian Red dairy bulls, Holstein (red and white suit), Angler and Red Steppe breeds. Studied cows milk production estimated by yields for the full complete (minimum of 240 days) lactation, content and output of milk fat and protein for 305 days and at higher daily milk yield. Results. The study revealed a significant level of intergroup differentiation and specificity for milk production, reproductive ability, soundings and indices of body structure cows daughters of different bulls. Specifically found that the highest milk yield inherent daughters bull V.Din Et Reda 5661918, which is almost twice prevailed worst analogues daughters Radar 4439 respectively 2484 kg of milk, 93.0 kg of milk fat and milk protein 66.9 kg. The highest daily yield characteristic daughters H.Ch.Herri 5839897, and the lowest - for daughters Radar 4439. The difference in this case was 9.4 kg of milk. Inter-group differentiation on fat and protein in milk is low and under 0.12 and 0.22% by live weight - 14 kg. The difference between the grounds daughters play different bulls more clearly expressed and 232 days is the age of first calving for the daughters Zenit 1113 and at a rate of 0.201 reproductive capacity for daughters H.Ch.Herri 5839897. It should be noted that although the daughters Zenit 1113 and were the youngest among firstborn both had the lowest rate of reproductive capacity after the first calving. Research has found that the highest measurements of height at withers and depth of chest inherent daughters bull Sharpe 9713, prevailing daughters Zenit 1113 respectively by 5.8 and 2.9 cm. For indirect soundings chest width body length and chest girth advantage daughter had Grybka 696, and the largest width in maklakah typical for daughters of Napoleon 1647. A total of 268 fecal samples were collected from calves between 1 week to 2 years old from Al-Nasr station for dairy cattle and three regions in Baghdad (AL-Taji, AL-Shula, and AL-Gazaliya). Modified Zehil Neelson stain was used to detect Cryptosporidium oocysts in these samples. Oocyst shape and size were used as criterions for species identification. The overall prevalence of Cryptosporidium infection was 35.44%. No sex preponderance was found, but there was decreasing in the prevalence versus age, with C. parvum was the dominated species before six month age, and C. andersoni in calves older than that.

Dans la pr?sente ?tude nous analysons les formes de la d?clinaison des pronoms f?minins au singulier dans les parlers du Sud-Ouest du Kosovo et de la Metochie. Dans les limites de la zone ?tudi?e, on distingue deux corpus dialectiques: a) Celui de Prizren - Sud de la Morava qui pr?sente dans la d?clinaison des pronoms f?minins au singulier certaines formes nouvelles caract?ristiques des parlers du type Kosovo - Resava; b) celui du Nord de la montagne Sara, dans lequel n'apparaissent pas ces nouvelles formes. Nous ?tudions s'il existe ou non analogie morphologique entre les formes des substantifs f?minins au singulier et celles des pronoms et adjectifs s'accordant avec eux ( dadi stare zene: dadi starejzi zene dadi stari zeni: dadi starojzi zeni: dadi starojzi zene; ot stare zene: ot starejzi zene: ot starejze zene / ot staru zenu). Abstract:

The article deals with the problem of the connection addressee-addresser in the art message typical for a specific model of communication in the Balkan area. On the base of various texts (prose of Miroslav Krleža, architecture of Bogdan Bogdanović, manifests and practices of artistic groups “Zenit” and “Neue Slowenische Kunst”) the article reveals the markers of local and regional (= Balkan) addressee as a permanent and dominant code in actualization of universal (= European) addresser. The essay concludes that according to the Balkan mode of communication the codes make a shift: the signs of “Self” and inner manifest themselves as intention to appropriate “Alien” and external.
