Abstract:
The study of the origin and dispersion processes associated with airborne pollen grains are important to understand due to their impacts on health. In this context, a Hirst-type spore trap was utilized over the period 2015–2018 to monitor ambient pollen grains at Saclay, France, a receptor site influenced by both clean air masses originating from the Atlantic Ocean and polluted air masses under anticyclonic conditions. The objective of this work was to use ZeFir (a user-friendly, software tool recently-developed to investigate the geographical origin and point sources of atmospheric pollution) as a method to analyse total and allergenic airborne pollen grain concentrations. Strong interannual variability was exhibited for the total pollen grains concentrations and it was determined that this was mainly driven by Betulaceae pollen, with a general increasing trend displayed. The start of the pollen season was seen to be triggered by particular synoptic conditions after a period of dormancy and two maximums were displayed, one in April and a second in June. Results from the ZeFir tool, fed with on-site hourly meteorological and pollen measurements, demonstrate that the dominant pollen grains inputs to Saclay are favoured by non-prevailing winds originating from East and North in association with dry air, moderate winds, mild temperature and enhanced insolation.

Abstract:
The genealogical breed structure is represented by 5 main factory lines: Zubr, Zenit, Zaslon, Zont, Zefir. The genealogical structure of the Belarusian meat breed is formed using the generally accepted selection methods, including the assessment by pedigree, strict selection, targeted selection, the assessment of replacement young by productivity on elevers, the assessment of boars and queens by the offspring quality using the control feeding method. The targeted breeding work with herds of Belarusian meat breed pigs during a long period of time according to the long-term target program allows us to obtain large boars and queens that are characterized by the meat-type body. When assessing boar-producers of the Belarusian meat breed aged 36 months and older in all farms the values of the body live weight and length were on the average 305.3 kg and 179 cm respectively. As a result of studying the reproductive qualities of animals, it is established that, on the average, in the queens selected into the leading group in all farms, the indicators of prolificacy, the weight of one young pig at birth, the number of young pigs aged 21 days and milking ability were 11.74 animals and 1.11 kg, 10.06 animals and 54.34 respectively. The highest growth rate from birth to a live weight of 100 kg was seen in the Zefir line animals – 550 g. The indicator of the growth in reaching a live weight of 100 kg was 181 days. The superiority over the mean indicators of animals of all lines according to these traits was 10.7 days, or 5.6 % and 31 g, or 6.0 % respectively. The Zalon and Zenit line offsprings were inferior to the boars of the rest lines in terms of the growth in reaching a live weight of 100 kg by 2.8–19 days. Their indicators of the daily average growth from birth to a live weight of 100 kg also appeared to be, on the average, lower by 6–49 g. The differences in the Zaslon line boars were confident (р ≤ 0.05).

Abstract:
The aim of this research was the comparative study of the amino acids content in the dry extracts of Iridaceae plants of Ukrainian flora: Juno bucharica leaves and corms, Gladiolus hybrid Zefir leaves, Iris hungarica and Iris variegata rhizomes, and Crocus sativus stigmas, flowers, leaves and corms. A gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) method has been used. Separation of amino acids in the samples was carried out using a Shimadzu GC-MS-QP2010 equipped with an Rxi-5ms (Restek Corporation capillary column (30 m long, 0.25 mm outer diameter and 0.25 µm) with a liquid stationary phase (5% diphenyl and 95% polysiloxane) after derivatization with N-(t-butyldimethylsilyl)-N109 methyltrifluoroacetamide (MTBSTFA) reagent. The results obtained have shown that extracts from the aerial parts of plants investigated have a higher amino acid content and more diverse composition than the underground organs. Experimental data showed that Crocus leaves and Juno leaves extracts contain the highest general content of amino acids—31.99 mg/g and 14.65 mg/g respectively. All samples showed a high content of L-pyroglutamic acid (0.33–12.35 mg/g). Moreover, Crocus leaves and Juno leaves extracts had the most suitable amino acids composition and are prospective for further pharmacological studies.

Abstract:
Background: Neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser capsulotomy is a relatively noninvasive procedure that is used in the treatment of posterior capsular opacification (PCO). PCO is caused by proliferation of lens epithelial cells which causes fibrotic changes and wrinkling of the posterior capsule and results in decreased vision, glare, and other symptoms similar to that of the original cataract. Objective: To find out the visual outcome after performing Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy for PCO. Materials and method: A prospective clinical trial was carried out in National Institute of Ophthalmology (NIO), Dhaka, Bangladesh from January 2010 to June 2011 on purposively selected 70 adult subjects of both sexes who developed PCO within 2 months to more than 2 years after extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber intra ocular lens implant. After thorough pre laser assessment Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy was carried out with Zeis VISULAS YAG II through Zeiss slit lamp under topical anesthesia. Data were recorded and expressed as proportion. Results: Out of the 70 subjects 40 were male and 30 were female. The average time interval of cataract surgery and Nd: YAG laser capsulotomy was 23 months. Capsular fibrosis (57.04%) was the predominant type of PCO. The pre laser visual acuity (VA) of more than 61.06% of eyes was 6/36 or below while 41.12% had VA hand movements to finger count. After Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy VA of 6/18 or better was achieved in 63.9% of eyes while 9.94% recovered to 6/9 and 11.36% achieved 6/6. None of these eyes showed further deterioration in VA. Conclusion: Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy for PCO is safe, effective and a rewarding procedure for improvement of vision.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/dmcj.v1i1.14971 Delta Med Col J. Jan 2013;1(1):16-19

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Background There is no worldwide standard recommendation for preventing hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation for patients with resolved infection treated with an anti-CD20 antibody for B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This study aims to compare the cost-effectiveness between two commonly used strategies to prevent HBV reactivation-related death. Methods The two strategies compared were prophylactic antiviral therapy (Pro NAT) and HBV DNA monitoring followed by on-demand antiviral therapy (HBV DNA monitoring) using entecavir (Entecavir, a generic drug for Baraclude). Effectiveness was defined as the prevention of death due to HBV reactivation and costs were calculated under the health insurance system of Japan as of April 2018 using Markov model. A cost-minimization analysis, one of the cost-effectiveness analyses, was applied, since the effectiveness was the same between the two strategies according to a meta-analysis. To consider the effect of uncertainty for each parameter, probabilistic sensitivity analysis (PSA) was performed. In the scenario analysis, costs were calculated using lamivudine (Zefix) or tenofovir alafenamide (Vemlidy) instead of entecavir. All analyses were done using TreeAge Pro 2019 (TreeAge Software, Inc., MA, USA). Results Estimated costs per patient during the 30 months after initiation of chemotherapy for lymphoma were 1,513 USD with Pro NAT and 1,265 USD with HBV DNA monitoring. A PSA revealed that HBV DNA monitoring was more consistently cost-effective compared with Pro NAT when some parameters were set randomly according to probability distributions. In our scenario analysis, costs of Pro NAT and HBV DNA monitoring were calculated as 2,762 and 1,401 USD using lamivudine, 4,857 and 1,629 USD using tenofovir alafenamide. Conclusions Our cost-effectiveness analysis shows that an HBV DNA monitoring strategy using entecavir should be recommended for preventing HBV reactivation-related death in Japan. Key messages Cost-effectiveness analysis demonstrated that HBV DNA monitoring was more cost-effective compared to Pro NAT; this result was consistent with PSA. HBV DNA monitoring strategy should be recommended to prevent HBV reactivation-related death for the patients with resolved HBV infection in Japan.

Abstract:
This article is the result of a partnership between the research group Urban Issues: Design, Architecture, Planning and Landscape - Q.URB, and the Group of Studies of the Urban Form in Brazil - FU.bá, both of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of Mackenzie Presbiterian University. It aims to contribute to urban design alternatives in the Jardim Piratininga neighborhood, located in the East Zone of the Municipality of São Paulo, and to offer subsidies for future Urban Intervention Projects (PIU), since this area was defined, by the 2012 Strategic Master Plan, as Special Zone of Social Interest - ZEIS. It is hypothesized that the study area, considered as an emerging urban fabric stratum and lacking in a large part of its area of basic urbanization infrastructures, holds in itself the potential for a future re-adaptation and complementation of its roadway. The methodology that will be used in the analytical approach of the urban form, known as Space Syntax, seeks to provide: support for decision making; tools to calibrate these decisions; evaluate proposed scenarios; as well as combining other methods and tools. This methodology seeks to confirm something we already know - the need to complete ‘mesh design’ in urbanized areas that have, in contemporary cities, a different constitution from that observed in more sedimented and stable areas (traditional city). As a result, possibilities of transformation of the roadway will be presented according to diverse scenarios, but based on the dynamics of the place itself, and also with the surrounding urban fabric.
