Abstract:

Syftet med examensarbetet var att ta fram en laserskärande hand till ABB:s kollaborativa robot ”YuMi”. Rapporten beskriver tillvägagångssätt, utvecklingsprocess och resultat av arbetet. Målet för projektet var att ta fram en fungerande funktionsprototyp som svarade mot den övergripande problemformuleringen: ”Hur integreras tillräcklig säkerhet i laserhanden så att användaren på ett säkert och riskfritt sett kan använda laserhanden i en kontorsmiljö?” Detta har uppnåtts genom att med lämpliga test och analyseringsmetoder besvara frågeställningarna: ➢ Hur kan skadliga partiklar avlägsnas från luften vid laserskärning av plast, gummi, skumgummi, kartong och trä? ➢ Hur utformas laserhanden på så sätt att en extern skyddskåpa blir överflödig (för att inte skada ögonen)? ➢ Hur integreras en säkerhetsfunktion som gör att lasern stängs av om laserhanden skulle tilta eller avvika från vertikal distans? Arbetet innefattar konceptgenerering, planering, konstruktion av kåpor och byggande av prototyp. Projektet resulterade i en fungerande funktionsprototyp som uppfyllde största delen av arbetsgivarens krav. Både studenten och företaget är nöjda med resultatet.
The purpose of the thesis was to produce a laser-cutting hand to ABB's collaborative robot "YuMi". The report describes the approaches, development process and results of the work. The aim of the project was to develop a functional prototype that corresponds to the overall problem formulation: "How to achieve enough security in the laser-hand so it is safe and risk-free for users to use the hand in an office environment?" This has been achieved by using the appropriate tests and methods of analysis to answer the questions: ➢ How to remove harmful particles from the air during laser cutting of plastic, rubber, foam rubber, cardboard and wood? ➢ How to design an external protective cover encapsulate the tool (laser beam) so it will be redundant to protective glasses (so as not to damage the eyes)? ➢ How to integrate a security feature to force the laser to turn off, if the hand increases the distance or deviate from vertical orientation higher then specified limits? The work includes concept generation, project planning, construction of encapsulation and prototype overall construction. The project resulted in a working prototype that fulfilled most of the requirements. Both the student and the company are satisfied with the result.

Abstract:

Since the middle of the 2000s and the rise of Cool Japan, manga, anime, video games, Japanese horror films and J-Pop music are more popular than ever throughout the world. Both in Japan and abroad, these popular culture products are often synonymous with subculture. Sabukaruchā, as it is known in Japan, is a hot topic even as the concept itself remains unresolved. In this context, what role does literature—a field no longer atop the cultural hierarchy—have to do with the ongoing negotiation of what subculture means in modern Japan? The elements of what we now consider subcultural media and narratives have roots in the literature of past decades, and in this dissertation I explore the possibility of a new analytical framework: “subculture literature.” By thinking of subculture as a reception category—not unlike cult film—rather than in terms of concrete genres such as manga or anime, I adopt the concept of “subcultural affects” to examine notions of marginality and how society defines itself (and responds to external definitions). Similar to what might be considered narrative elements in a literary context, subcultural affects are the aspects of a text that are drawn out by readers to form affective constellations predicated on minorness. As a case study, I turn to the texts and reception of Yumeno Kyūsaku (1889-1936), a writer of mystery fiction who, despite achieving modest popular success in the late 1920s and early 1930s, was largely forgotten until his writing was revived in the context of 1960s sub- and counter-culture. For a politically-engaged youth, Kyūsaku offered an alternative model of being in the world: romantic and darkly comic, and engaged with questions of authority and madness. But how was his work received when it was written? Using the subcultural affects of henkaku, nansensu and dochaku, I consider the long-term reception of Kyūsaku’s work as a way to begin to bridge not only the gaps between historical eras, but between center and margin, major and minor, and popular and elite.

Neste trabalho apresentamos a obra O Urso e o Gato montês da autora japonesa Kazumi Yumoto. Esse é o terceiro livro de Yumoto traduzido para o português trata da temática da morte, os outros dois são livros infanto-juvenis. Nesse livro, junto com a ilustradora Komako Sakai, Yumoto constrói uma narrativa ímpar em que o leitor se depara com o luto de forma delicada e percorre o processo de negação até a aceitação em que o personagem caminha. Fazemos uma análise da morte nos baseando na teoria de Kubler-Ross sobre os estágios do luto, juntamente com o vazio gerado por ela pela ausência da pessoa amada tendo em vista os conceitos de Okano sobre o vazio oriental, e por fim o amor, que é o laço condutor de tudo e que nos é apresentado nos personagens constituintes dessa narrativa. Embasados em teorias de análise de imagens, psicologia e pedagogia, nos debruçamos em um estudo da obra pensando na função da literatura como papel de formação e humanização do indivíduo.
In this work we present the book The Bear and the Wild Cat by the Japanese author Kazumi Yumoto. This is the third of her books translated to Portuguese that deals with the theme of death, it is also approached in two other of her children\'s books. In this book, along with illustrator Komako Sakai, Yumoto constructs a unique narrative in which the reader is confronted with mourning and goes through the process of denial until the acceptance in which the character walks to. We make an analysis of death based on Kubler-Ross\'s theory of the stages of mourning, with the emptiness generated by it by the absence of the loved one taking Okanos point of view about the empty orient, and finally, the love that is the connection link of everything, which is presented to us in the characters of this narrative. Based on theories of image analysis, psychology and pedagogy, we focus on a study of the book thinking about literature playing a role of training and humanization of the individual.

Abstract:

The aim of the master thesis is to design a laboratory station and a control program operated by a collaborative robot IRB 14000 YuMi using an integrated effector camera to identify laboratory objects and control the progress of the task. In the introductory part, collaborative robots are briefly introduced, the IRB 14000 on which the task is implemented and the RobotStudio development environment together with the IntegratedVision extension are described in more detail. The following chapters describe the laboratory task itself, its solution and testing of the designed program.

Abstract:

[The Mariner's Chart]I've chosen to use the metaphor of the mariners chart to highlight the characteristics that are the essential elements of this study. This metaphor also sits comfortably with the Torres Strait Islander people, both historically and contemporaneously. The document '(IN) THE BEGINNING: The mariner’s chart to the folio’, represents the chart which enables readers ofthis study to 'navigate' their individual progress through the study in ways that reflect the reader's motivation/s. As with most maritime voyages, destinations can be reached via a number of different routes. These routes will be partially determined by motivations including tides, winds, directness, the skill of the navigator and the whim of the skipper. These motivations also apply to any reading of this study. The essential starting point will bedetermined initially by reference to the chart. Being made aware of the elements of the folio (logs of the various voyages) will influence where the reader goes from there; in other words, what folio elements (logs of the voyages) the reader will go to first and the order they chooseto follow, subsequent to that. There is no necessary order in which the logs of the various voyages should be read, following the initial reference to the 'chart'.The mariner's chart identifies low water marks, channel markers, reefs, sandbanks, and unseen obstacles. These represent only a handful of the dangers the reader (mariner) will face on the voyage. Likewise the study has its share of 'dangers', both seen and unseen. Thewhole nature of the study is in a sense, dangerous. I anticipate that any reading of the study will necessarily reflect the idiosyncrasies of the reader, so that the conclusions that I have reached, represent only one view of the data. The identification of the data itself reflects a level of interpretation that is also very personal, highlighting the reality that others(readers/mariners) may see greater significance in aspects of the recorded data that the author has not. The log of the voyage, My Journey An Autobiographical Narrative, clearly identifies a very personal journey or series of journeys, all of which reflect a range of reefs and sandbars that the author has sometimes been stranded on, between tides, giving time for reflection on actions that have either proven unsuccessful or are cause for quietcontemplation. Each of the folio elements reflects this metaphoric mix of danger and clear passage, in many different ways and at many different levels, inviting the individual and equally legitimate reactions of each reader.Whilst Torres Strait Islanders historically navigated by the stars and the seasons today, electronic navigation charts have tended to replace these important and culturally significant practices. Torres Strait people have metaphorically experienced being stranded on reefs andshoals and being wrecked, especially in terms of the education processes they have been exposed to, by virtue of this cultural shift. The process, educationally, of replacing the reliable historic (navigation) practices of Torres Strait Islanders with contemporary, western(navigation charts) practices has frequently resulted in confusion, frustration and a failure to produce successful educational outcomes for Torres Strait Islanders - clear passage to the future. The reasons for this situation are explored in greater depth in this study.With these explanations in mind then, the reader is invited to engage on their own voyage through this study.

Abstract:

El presente estudio analiza la factibilidad de la implementación de un servicio de hospedaje y actividades con fines turísticos en una construcción existente en el pueblo de Yumina-Arequipa, la finalidad del estudio es demostrarle al propietario que cuenta con una opción de negocio rentable. Yumina cuenta con un gran potencial turístico por conocer a sus alrededores. Para ello, después de analizar que existe una demanda insatisfecha para un servicio de turismo, se realizó un estudio de mercado dirigido a la siguiente segmentación: población adecuadamente pagada y de edad de 15 a 74 años. El tamaño de la muestra fue de 61 personas, a las cuales se le realizó una encuesta donde se obtuvo que un 90% de turistas están dispuestos a conocer el pueblo, se oferto dos paquetes turísticos: “Conociendo Arequipa”, donde se realizará la visita a lugares turísticos dentro de la ciudad, terminando en el hospedaje de Yumina, siendo este servicio diferente a los demás ofertados dentro del mercado y “Disfrutando sin límites” este comprende el quedarse a pernoctar en la vivienda, desde las habitaciones y balcones se puede observar un hermoso panorama de andenería pre incaicas espectaculares, la cual también se demuestran en el presente proyecto siendo esta una fortaleza del estudio. La empresa se constituirá como Sociedad Anónima Cerrada, cuya razón social será Inversiones Turísticas de Sur Atlantis SAC. Financieramente, el proyecto resulto viable. Los parámetros fueron analizados para una tasa de descuento de 10.34% para el proyecto y 9.0% para el inversionista. El VAN resulto con valores mayores a cero. La TIR con valores superiores a la tasa de descuento y se realizó los análisis de sensibilidad tendiendo mejores resultados con el incremento de S/5.00 en el primer año de los servicios ofertado. Con lo evaluado, el proyecto resulta rentable para el proyectista como para el inversionista
This study analyzes the feasibility of implementing a lodging service and activities for tourism purposes in an existing construction in the town of Yumina-Arequipa, the purpose of the study is to demonstrate to the owner that he has a profitable business option. Yumina has great tourist potential for knowing its surroundings. To do this, after analyzing that there is an unmet demand for a tourism service, a market study was conducted aimed at the following segmentation: population adequately paid and aged 15 to 74 years. The sample size was 61 people, to whom a survey was conducted where it was obtained that 90% of tourists are willing to know the town, two tourist packages were offered: "Knowing Arequipa", where the visit will be made to tourist places within the city, ending at the Yumina lodging, this service being different from the others offered within the market and "Enjoying without limits" this includes staying overnight in the house, from the rooms and balconies you can see a beautiful panorama of spectacular pre-Inca terraces, which are also demonstrated in this project, this being a strength of the studio. The company will be constituted as a Closed Company, whose business name will be Inversiones Turísticas de Sur Atlantis SAC. Financially, the project was viable. The parameters were analyzed for a discount rate of 10.34% for the project and 9.0% for the investor. The NPV resulted with values greater than zero. The IRR with values higher than the discount rate and sensitivity analyzes were carried out with better results with the increase of S / 5.00 in the first year of the services offered. Resumo:Objetivouverificarse a adoção de boas práticas agropecuárias constitui-se em uma boa ferramenta para a identificação dos animais com mastite bovina, e conscientizar o produtor dos assentamentos rurais sobre a importância da implementação das boas práticas agropecuárias relacionadas ao bem-estar. Os produtores receberam orientação e foram distribuídos materiais educativos e utensílios elaborados a partir de material reciclável para a realização das boas práticas de bem-estar. Para avaliação do perfil fisiológico foram coletadas amostras biológicas como: sangue, fezes e leite, e para a avaliação da sanidade e do bem-estar animal foram utilizados um questionário. Foram avaliadas 20 vacas perfazendo um total de 79 quartos mamários. Dos 36 quartos negativos para o California Mastitis Test em 12 desses foram isolados bactérias, sendo o de maior ocorrência Staphylococcus. Foi verificado que o bem-estar animal estava comprometido pela incidência de mastite subclínica, infestação de ectoparasitos e ausência de medidas profiláticas. Conclui-se que o emprego de boas práticas agropecuárias é adequado para a identificação da mastite bovina, no entanto, há falta de conhecimento em relação às boas práticas, principalmente, relacionadas ao manejo preventivo e a conscientização dos produtores sobre a importância da implementação das boas práticas agropecuárias na atividade leiteira, as quais são fundamentais para melhorar as condições de bem-estar animal, a produtividade e qualidade do leite

Abstract:

A lot of people worldwide are affected by limitations and disabilities that make it hard to do even essential actions and everyday tasks, such as eating. The impact of robotics on the lives of elder people or people having any kind of inability, which makes it hard everyday actions as to eat, was considered. The aim of this thesis is to study the implementation of a robotic system in order to achieve an automatic feeding process. Different kinds of robots and solutions were taken into account, for instance, the Obi and the prototype realized by the Washington University. The system considered uses an RGBD camera, an Intel RealSense D400 series camera, to detect pieces of cutlery and food on a table and a robotic arm, an ABB-YuMi, to pick up the identified objects. The spoon detection is based on the pre-trained convolutional neural network AlexNet provided by MATLAB. Two detectors were implemented. The first one can detect up to four different objects (spoon, plate, fork and knife), the second one can detect only spoon and plate. Different algorithms based on morphology were tested in order to compute the pose of the objects detected. RobotStudio was used to establish a connection between MATLAB and the robot. The goal was to make the whole process as automated as possible. The neural network trained on two objects reached 100% of accuracy during the training test. The detector based on it was tested on the real system. It was possible to detect the spoon and the plate and to draw a good centered boundary box. The accuracy reached can be considered satisfying since it has been possible to grasp a spoon using the YuMi based on a picture of the table. It was noticed that the lighting condition is the key factor to get a satisfying result or to miss the detection of the spoon. The best result was archived when the light is uniform and there are no reflections and shadows on the objects. The pictures which get a better result for the detection were taken in an apartment. Despite the limitations of the interface between MATLAB and the controller of the YuMi, a good level of automation was reached. The influence of lighting conditions in this setting was discussed and some practical suggestions and considerations were made.

Abstract:

This thesis explores narrational, textual and thematic aspects of novels by Kurahashi Yumiko (1 935- ), applying poststructuralist critical approaches developed by Judith Butler, Barbara Herrnstein Smith, Roland Barthes, Julia Kristeva, and Michel Foucault, focusing upon the notion of the performativity in selfhood and textuality. My discussion begins with an overview of the context within which Kurahashi emerges as a writer, her debate with pro-Romantic or -realist Japanese critics regarding her main compositional methodology— pastiche—and the challenges to sexual norms made in her fictional practice. Kurahashi’s views on selfhood, narratives, text, and authorship, I show, parallel in many ways the concerns of poststructural 1st critics. The main body of my thesis consists of six chapters, each of which deals with either an individual novel, or two related novellas. Blue lourney (1961) is a second-person narrative written in a collage form, which demonstrates performative femininity. Divine Maiden (1 965) presents the themes of incest and amnesia, inevitably questioning issues of self and other. The novel’s characters do not possess constative identity but rather demonstrate performative selfhood, and are thus not described as individuals but rather associated with others, constituting “indices.” The self-reflexive, embedding, and dialogic narrative foregrounds the acts of writing and reading in which characters engages, and thus demonstrates the notion of narrative as a verbal act, while delineating paradoxical inversions of subjectivity between narrator and narratee, and narrator and narrated. The Adventures of Sumivakist Q (1 969), a third-person narrative with an intrusive and yet elusive extradiegetic narrator, develops “indices” as the method of structuring the text, incessantly making and unmaking parallels and contrasts between subjects. The theme of selfhood is again questioned in the systems of cognitive, sexual, and digestive familiarization with others in the novel. The fourth chapter of my thesis deals with two novellas, “Virginia” and “The Long Passage of Dreams” (1968) which frame subversions of the novel and the self with characters who subscribe to the established norms of language and society. Subversive sexual acts and paradoxes still exist, but only within the rigid framework of a logic which objectivizes them. Kurahashi’s “Japanization” of themes and methods begins with the latter novella, which refers to noh plays and uses their double-layered structure of dream and reality. This process becomes more apparent in Symnosium (1 985), which pastiches Divine Maiden through its theme of incest, its inversion of subject and object, and its embedded narrative, but also refers to the traditional Japanese models and employs the narrative strategies of monogatari. In so doing, the novel suggests the parallel between traditional Japanese poetics and poststructuralist criticism, particularly in terms of its stress upon the contingency of ‘truth’ and ‘selfhood’. Popoi (1 987), the novel which is the topic of Chapter Six, refines the technique of pastiche, exploring a plurality of fragmentations of self and text. Having examined the individual texts, I conclude that a parallel can be drawn between Kurahashi’s work and that of Western postmodern artists, while remaining aware of the precarious nature of such labelling due to the different cultural context.

Abstract:

This thesis represents a complete translation of the sixth volume of the “Keiko-san Series,” Yume no kayoiji, translated here as The Passage of Dreams. Published in 1989 by Kurahashi Yumiko, The Passage of Dreams is composed of twenty-one short stories, each of which details a bizarre, often sexual incident. The “Keiko-san Series,” written after Kurahashi’s ten year lapse in activity, has been largely dismissed and neglected by Japanese literary scholars. Through a comparative analysis of this work and Kurahashi’s earliest stories “Partei” and “The End of Summer,” this thesis delineates a clear rupture in structure and theme between the two parts of the author’s career and asserts that both are of significance to Japanese literature. However, the portrayal of female focused sexuality in The Passage of Dreams makes it especially deserving of the attention it has yet to receive. The translation portion of this thesis has undergone significant revisions since its submission.
