Abstract:
"Lei Yu (Thunderstorm)" by Cao Yu presents the tragedy of Zhou Gong Guan, a feudal family in the Republican era, by characterizing different personalities, backgrounds and ethical relationships. As a dramatic work of considerable status in modern Chinese literature, "Lei Yu" contains many profound connotations. From its publication in 1934 to the present, "Lei Yu" has profoundly exposed the problems of the feudal family's autocratic and corrupt times through the meticulous and precise portrayal of its many characters' complex relationships and the gradual clarification of its historical past. This work exposes not only the conflicts of the members of the Zhou Gong Guan but also the class disparity and the status of men and women in the era through the class and gender of each member. At present, academic research on "Lei Yu" is very mature, but there is still some room for research on the analysis of the characters' relationship and tragedy of fate in relation to the author's view of fate and the imagery of "Lei Yu". Therefore, this paper will start with the interpretation of Cao Yu's view of fate, analyze the author's view of "the fatalism of gods and ghosts" and "the view of nature and heaven" in the preface, and then analyze the imagery of "Lei Yu" to derive the tragedy of fate. Then, through the analysis of the imagery of this work, the complex family conflicts and the characters' view of fate behind it are derived, and then the characters' characters, experiences and identities are carefully analyzed through both character tragedies and ethical tragedies, revealing the irresistible tragedy of fate in the relationship between the characters of "Lei Yu", which means that all characters in the play have tragedies in character and ethical relationships.

Abstract:
Introduction: the article is devoted to the topical issue of the development of theme of Finno-Ugric literature. The subjects of the analysis are the features of embodiment of the theme of love in the story by the Khanty writer Yu. N. Nakova. Objective: to identify and reveal the features of the theme of love in the story by Yu. N. Nakova. Research materials: the story «The Sky Saw and the Waters of the Por-Avat and the Neva heard» by Yu. N. Nakova. Results and novelty of the research: the story «The Sky Saw and the Waters of the Por-Avat and the Neva heard» for the first time becomes an object of scientific comprehension and is introduced into the context of Finno-Ugric literary studies. The theme of love in the writer’s work is focused on the relationship between a man and a woman. The work is based on a love story, intertwined with the theme of family. The young happy family of the Nakovs survived the trials of the Great Patriotic War, but it is not the war that destroyed the family, but human envy. The main hero left no chance for a reunion with his beloved. And the faithful heroine transformed the whole range of feelings into a mother’s love. Emotivity of the images, the motif of expectation reinforced the theme of love in the story by Yu. N. Nakova.

Kim, Jin-young. "A relations between youngest son of chaebol Family and narrative tradition of Guunmong." Korean Language and Literature 124 (July 31, 2023): 105–31. http://dx.doi.org/10.21793/koreall.2023.124.105.

Abstract:
This paper examines how the narrative structure and the dream narrative of Guunmong has been transformed into a modern web drama. First, the identity of the narrative structure of Guunmong and the variable nature of the dream narrative was examined. Subsequently, the pattern of the modern variation of Guunmong was reviewed by citing The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family. Finally, the narrative custom of Guunmong was grasped from a literary and historical perspective. The above is summarized as follows. First, the structural identity of Guunmong and the variability of the dream narrative were confirmed. While inheriting the existing tradition of Mong-yu(dream) narrative, Guunmong has made a breakthrough in terms of mass. Meanwhile, the structural identity of Mong-yu novels was established, and the diversity of the dream narrative, a virtual world, could be transformed at any time. This is why Guunmong was able to be reprocessed according to the situation of the times. Second, the relationship between the variations of narrative techniques and The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family was reviewed. The world transformed from deficiency to fulfillment. Guunmong allowed Yang So-yu to satisfy Sung-jin's lack of love in the virtual world, and The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family allowed Yoon Hyun-woo, who was economically deficient, to become Jin Do-jun of the virtual world and live a fulfilling life. Next, the character was transformed from status to capital. In shaping the character, if Guunmong presented a medieval status as a privilege, The youngest son of a chaebol family made a change in presenting modern wealth as a vested interest. Then the character is awakened from the illusion and returned to reality. In Guunmong, Yang So-yu returned as a lonely monk after finishing his secular wealth and honor, while The Youngest Sn of a Chaebol Family transformed Jin Do-jun to return to Yoon Hyun-woo in reality after achieving all the economic things. Finally, through the transformation of fatalism, the future was predicted. If Yang So-yu of Guunmong. followed the trajectory of life according to his given fate, Jin Do-jun of The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family was sent back to the past where Yoon Hyun-woo lived and was able to predict the future. Third, the narrative customs and literary and historical status of Guunmong was examined. Guunmong is a Momg-yu novel that creates a unique structure of reality-virtual-reality and the practice of dealing with various narrative types, which became a custom Due to this, various derivatives could be produced in the late Joseon Dynasty. It can also be useful in modern literature that have fantastic nature. This is because the narrative structure of Guunmong and various dream narratives can be transformed to capture modern problems intensely. Such a work is The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family. Considering this, the narrative custom of Guunmong had a long tradition, and it is also worth paying attention to in terms of literary history that it has developed into video literature.

Abstract:
This study is about the ‘Imna royal family Chobalseongji (任那王族草拔聖枝)’ found in the epitaph of Buddhist Master Jingyeong. In the past, Japan claimed the Korean Peninsula as its former territory according to the contents of this inscription. In addition, Japanese and domestic scholars who directly or indirectly support <Imna Japan Headquarters> also misinterpret King Heungmu Kim Yu-sin as the ancestor of the Imna royal family based on the above information. However, there was a reason why they misinterpreted the inscription. It was a justification for invading the Korean peninsula called the ‘Jeonghan theory’ or ‘Japan's strategy for conquering Joseon’, which leapt to the wrong logic that it was justified for Japan to restore the Imna homeland since the Imna is the Gaya. ‘任那王族草拔聖枝’ should be interpreted as ‘Imna’s royal family Chobalseongji’ and ‘Chobalseongji’ should be viewed as a person. The Chobalseongji was the royal family of Imna in Japan, and they were harassed by neighboring countries. In addition, although the target of his surrender was Silla as a nation, the actual target was not a nation; it was King Heungmu Kim Yu-Sin. In other words, Chobalseongji of the Imna royal family surrendered himself to Kim Yu-sin and received the Shin Kim (新金) clan from the King of Silla. Later, his descendants appear to have taken root well in the land of Silla. As a result, it became the foundation for producing great figures such as the three members of the Shin Kim clan shown in epitaphs and chalju(a pillar) in the 8th and 9th centuries and Great Monk Jingyeong in the 10th century. Based on the above argument, we hope that this study will make it clear that the Gaya and the Imna were completely separate countries, and that Imna was a country within Japan.

Abstract:
The article discusses the history of the relationship between Yu. V. Trifonov and his cousin Georgy Evgenievich Trifonov (known under the pseudonym Mikhail Demin), which in many respects complements the ideas about the formation of the storyline connected in the story “The House on the Embankment” with Levka Shulepnikov, one of the main her characters. The images of Georgy Trifonov and his relatives are reflected in the famous story, where, as you know, Yu. Trifonov told a lot about himself and his childhood. The prototypes of several characters (Anton Ovchinnikov, Sonya Ganchuk, Professor Ganchuk) have long been identi¬fied in the works of E. Hoffman, M. P. Korshunov and V. R. Terekhova, K. De Magd-Soep and other researchers. However, the biographical implication of Levka Shulepnikov remains unclear - M. P. Korshunov’s assumption that Sergei Savitsky, Trifonov’s childhood friend, whose life story is really like Shulepnikov’s story, can be considered his prototype, is partly refuted by Korshunov himself, who admitted that Savitsky’s character is not at all like the character of Shulepnikov. Meanwile, none of Trifonov’s researchers paid attention to the presence and importance in his life of such a person as Georgy Trifonov. But it was Georgy who turned out to be Yu. Trifonov’s kind of double in the West, where he left in 1968 and turned into a Soviet defector. The facts related to the life of Georgy Trifonov (Mikhail Demin) remain clearly underestimated in the literary discourse devoted to Yu. Trifonov, although O. Yu. Trifonova-Tangyan, the daughter of Yu. Trifonov, wrote about G. Trifonov in some detail in her memoirs. Meanwhile, the difficult fate and difficult character of Georgy Trifonov, formed in childhood by an intelligent and enlightened family, and then deformed by fatherlessness, prison, war, a criminal environment, multiple arrests, and camps, could not but affect the creation of the artistic image of Shulepnikov.

Abstract:
The publication of the epistolary of the Ukrainian noble families helps to understand correlation between mental stereotypes and individual strategies in the activities of this state. The Galagan family archive allows to analyse both epistolary complexes and individual letters. The aim of the article is to publish Kateryna Yu. Galagan’s letter, before marriage — Daragan, niece of Oleksii Hryhorovych and Kyryl Hryhorovych Rozumovskyi, to grandchildren Petro and Pavlo, descendants, by paternal line, of Pryluky colonel Hnat I. Galagan. The content of the letter illustrates the situation of the family’s everyday life, when K. Yu. Galagan blamed her grandchildren for, in her opinion, inappropriate behaviour during their stay in St. Petersburg. Such a private, casual situation helps to examine collective through the individual one. The letter illustrates the patterns of life of the noble community in the early 19th century. It highlights the conflict between two generations of Ukrainian nobility. The older generation still retained a more moderate tradition of Cossack officers, and the younger inherited from the imperial nobility a habit of aristocratic luxury. This conflict is revealed in the letter through the worldview of Kateryna Yu. Galagan, a person of strict temperament. Due to this, the history of family life is psychologically motivated. The oral language of the author of the text is reproduced in writing by another person (scribe). This enables historical and linguistic researches. High informative letter makes it a valuable resource in the field of the history of everyday life, historical anthropology, historical biography.

Abstract:
AbstractPilophyllia Ge and Yu, 1974 represents a major group of distinctive amplexoid corals in the Silurian, whose taxonomic relationships, species composition, and evolutionary trends remain contentious. A critical revision of type material and new specimens of several species (and subspecies) assigned to Pilophyllia, including the type species P. involuta Ge and Yu, 1974, provides solutions to some of these problems. Pilophyllia is revised to include only those forms characterized by a distinct peripheral stereozone and amplexoid major septa with club-shaped rhabdacanths set in thick lamellar stereomes. Other species, previously referred to Pilophyllia but having generally short septa with wedge-shaped rhabdacanths, are transferred herein to the new genus Neopilophyllia Wang. Both genera, together with other Silurian amplexoid rugosan genera such as Amplexoides, are referred to the new family Amplexoididae Wang, which is thought to be evolutionarily unrelated to the much younger (Devonian to early Carboniferous) amplexoid rugosan family Amplexidae Chapman, 1893. The first appearance of Neopilophyllia n. gen. in the middle Telychian, much later than that of Pilophyllia in the late Rhuddanian, probably marks a significant stage during the evolution of Silurian amplexoid corals.UUID: http://zoobank.org/c22423b0-7af2-4be0-8ac2-7d47addde621

Abstract:
Every ethnic group has its own cultural identity and is used as a reference to distinguish between one ethnic group and another. Understanding cultural identity is important to avoid cultural conflicts so that all ethnic groups within a unitary society can live side by side in harmony. The core discussion in this research is related to Chinese cultural identity based on the novel To Live written by Yu Hua with two points of discussion, kinship system and marriage system, conducted by means of a qualitative descriptive method to obtain data related to social phenomena with the results of the analysis in the form of description. Concepts and theories relating to cultural identity, Chinese cultural identity, kinship and marriage systems are implemented to support the overall research. The results of the analysis show that wherever Chinese ethnic groups are located, they try to maintain their cultural traditions. In Chinese culture, kinship includes all members of the extended family and the essence of a marriage is the union of two extended families; both have values that must be used as guidelines based on the teachings of Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism; the value of maintaining and preserving harmonization and norms to bind each individual to remain in the corridor of cultural tradition heritage.

Abstract:
Introduction. Russia, as a multinational country, has a large percentage of interethnic families. This feature affects the educational activities of the family and the father, in particular. Although the role of the father in the upbringing of the child differs from that of the mother, it is very important. It is the father who acts in the family as a connecting element of the system and his participation in the upbringing of children is of a stable nature, which has effect on both personal and social aspects of their development. The motivation-and-need component (as the fundamental component of any activity) is crucial in the study of the educational activity of fathers of various nationalities. The conceptual features of this component will affect the result of this activity, i.e., the development of the child. Research methods. The study employed the questionnaire “Features of Family Education” (Yu. A. Tokareva, A. A. Efimova); methodology “Motivation-and-Need Sphere of Fatherhood” (MNSF), (Yu. A. Tokareva); Mann–Whitney U test. The results of the study. The dominant motives in each national group have been established: the motive of social approval - for the Russian; the motive of achieving success in relations with the child and in their development – for the Ukrainian; the motive of self-realization in children – for the Tatar; the motive of self-affirmation – for the Armenian and Azerbaijani nationalities. Conclusion. The results obtained in the study can be used to develop psychological and pedagogical recommendations for interacting with the family.

Abstract:
This paper presents a new family of explicit time integration algorithms with controllable numerical dissipation for structural dynamic problems by utilizing the discrete control theory. Firstly, the equilibrium equation of the implicit Yu-[Formula: see text] algorithm is adopted, and the recursive formulas of velocity and displacement for the explicit CR algorithm are used in the algorithms. Then, the transfer function and characteristic equation of the algorithms with integration coefficients are obtained by the [Formula: see text] transformation. Furthermore, their integration coefficients are derived according to the poles condition. It was indicated that the proposed algorithms possess the advantages of second-order accuracy, self-starting, and unconditional stability for linear systems and nonlinear systems with softening stiffness. The numerical dissipation of the algorithms is controlled by the spectral radius at infinity [Formula: see text]. It was also shown that the proposed algorithms have the same poles as the Yu-[Formula: see text] algorithm, and thus the same numerical properties. Compared with the implicit Yu-[Formula: see text] algorithm, the proposed algorithms are explicit in terms of both the displacement and velocity formulas. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms in reducing the undesired participation of higher modes for solving the dynamic responses of linear and nonlinear systems has been demonstrated.

In consulting the annals of the places where he had taken office and that of Jinghai County and together with Yu’s Pedigree and other ancient books, Yu Daoxing’s resume and the history of his clan are sorted out step by step. Yu Daoxing, aliased Wenhuan and titled Xiaoya, was born in the earlier years of Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty. In the 39th year of Jiajing (1560), he graduated from the imperial college and first took office as a truant officer in Tengxian, Shandong; in the 5th year of Longqing (1571), he was transferred to Laiwu County as an instructor; in the earlier years of Wanli, he was promoted as a tutor in Yingzhou, Shanxi. He went back home after his retirement and started his hard work on material collection for his compiling of the Jinghai County Annals. Unfortunately, he died before completion of the annal and was buried in Yu’s cemetery in the rear of Dongyao Village, leaving the draft only. The descendants of Yu Daoxing continued the family learning and kept the glory of the clan, from whom there had come out many graduates of provincial, metropolitan and imperial colleges. There had been 1 martial provincial graduate, 2 literary provincial graduates, and 3 metropolitan graduates coming out from Yu Daoxing’s lineal progeny alone.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of a study of the psychological characteristics of familyparental relations of women who had previously served a sentence of imprisonment. An empirical study was conducted on the basis of K-2 of FPS of Russia in the Vologda region using a questionnaire on the study of family relationships and psychodiagnostic methods «The scale of the family environment» S. Yu. Kupriyanov and «Drawing-Family Techniques» by W. Hulse. Empirical research data suggest that convicted women who had previously served imprisonment have family-parent relationships that are characterized by emotional alienation, lack of understanding and support from family members. In this category of convicts, humanistic attitudes towards others are deformed, a low ability to constructively resolve conflict situations is manifested. The results obtained can be used by penitentiary psychologists in the implementation of psychological support for women who have previously served imprisonment.

Abstract:
A new method, homoclinic (heteroclinic) breather limit method (HBLM), for seeking rogue wave solution to nonlinear evolution equation (NEE) is proposed. (3+1)-dimensional Yu-Toda-Sasa-Fukuyama (YTSF) equation is used as an example to illustrate the effectiveness of the suggested method. A new family of two-wave solution, rational breather wave solution, is obtained by extended homoclinic test method, and it is just a rogue wave solution. This result shows rogue wave can come from extreme behavior of breather solitary wave for (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear wave fields.

Abstract:
The article considers the achievements of the latest Ukrainian novel of the last decade. Taking into account research trends, the main trends of its development are determined - borrowing techniques and means of mass literature, development of prose on three vectors – postmodern, neomodern, neo-populist, change of stylistic paradigm from postmodern to post postmodern. It is noted that the postmodern style paradigm is a thing of the past, some of its manifestations remain in the works of Yu. Andrukhovych ("Lovers of Justice", "Radio Night"), V. Rafieienko ("Mondegrin"). A colorful genre picture is analyzed, which consists of traditional forms and their modifications, in particular, the historical novel (Yu. Vynnychuk "Tango of Death", Tanya Malyarchuk "Oblivion", Natalka Snyadanko "Neat recipes of Archduke William", Maria Matios "Beech Land",Maryna Grymych "Klavka"), family novel "Free World" T. Belimova, Solo for Solomiya","The Land of Bitter Tenderness" by V. Lys, anti-utopia novel (works by Yu. Shcherbak, Ya. Melnyk, O. Chupa, A. Chapai, I. Pavliuk), biographical novel (M. Slaboshpytsky, Iren Rozdobudko, I. Korsak). In the works of post postmodern sound there is an anthropological turn, when man and his life acquire a basic artistic dimension, even in the historical novel, when private history becomes a springboard for artistic understanding of existential problems. The emergence of new genre varieties was also noted – novels-psychobiographies (S. Protsyuk), psychotrillers (O. Mykhed, A. Lyubka), techno-thrillers (Max Kidruk, P. Korobchuk), retro detectives (A. Kokotyukha, V. Ivchenko, B. Kolomiichuk ), noir (I. Pavliuk).

Abstract:
We introduce the notion of regular finite decomposition complexity of a metric family. This generalizes Gromov’s finite asymptotic dimension and is motivated by the concept of finite decomposition complexity (FDC) due to Guentner, Tessera and Yu. Regular finite decomposition complexity implies FDC and has all the permanence properties that are known for FDC, as well as a new one called Finite Quotient Permanence. We show that for a collection containing all metric families with finite asymptotic dimension, all other permanence properties follow from Fibering Permanence.

The Four Books are the most quoted sources of Confucius’ thought, namely The Great Learning (Da Xue), The Doctrine of the Mean (Zhong Yong), The Confucian Analects (Lun Yu) and The Works of Mencius (Mengzi). The focus shall be on the concept of family and filial piety as found in Confucianism and Qur’an and Sunnah. Both the teachings of Confucius and Islam emphasise the importance of virtues, ties and order in the family system, for example, the husband is the head of the family and responsible for the family’s existence and security. Islam and Confucianism are both patriarchal, and the husband and men are protectors of the family and deserve much respect. Abstract:
This paper attempted to examine how the war between Cho and Han was embodied and modified in the Chinese, Korean, and Japanese musical dance drama by focusing on the Chinese Peking Opera “Paewangbyulhee (Farewell My Concubine),” Korean Jeongjae “Hanjangmu” and Japanese Noh “Hangwoo.”. Peking Opera “Paewangbyulhee” is divided into nine chapters, mainly composed of the last battle of the War between Cho and Han, which is also described as the song of surrounded by enemies on all four sides. The events unfold in an orderly causal relationship, and the description is also very detailed. Through this incident, “Paewangbyulhee” depicts the love and death of Xiang-Yu and Yuji through the narrative reproduction of the song surrounded by enemies on all four sides. Royal Court public performance “Hangjangmu” has no chapter but it can be divided into three paragraphs, mainly composed of the confrontation between Xiang-Yu and Liu Bang in the Hongmunyeon feast. Also, the performance of Xiang-yu and Liu-bang’s vassals, who want to kill or protect, is centered on the sword dance. Therefore, “Hangjangmu” embodies the image of a loyal subject to loves and respects his king through the dramatic reproduction of the Hongmunyeon feast. There is no chapter division in Noh “Hangwoo,” but it can be divided into three paragraphs in terms of form. Life's uncertainty and sadness are constantly emphasized, centered on the reminiscences and emotions of unrealistic characters, and it tried to overcome by returning to the Buddhist world. Therefore, “Hangwoo” embodies the emptiness of life through the representation of the Cho-Han post-war. However, “Paewangbyulhee” emphasizes the love and death of Xiang-yu and Yu-ji, so the tragic beauty is strengthened, and “Hangjangmu” has strengthened elegant beauty by dramatically revealing the content of the character being congratulated, the dignity of the royal family and the content related to the loyal subjects to love and respect his king. In “Hangwoo,” the sublime beauty is strengthened by embodying the emptiness of life and returning to the Buddhist world through restrained music, characters dialogues, and songs. In the end, it can be said that the musical dance drama works of Korea, China, and Japan related to the war between Cho and Han embody distinctive literature by utilizing their literary assets and sense of beauty.

Abstract:
This article is aimed at identifying a complex of pragmatic, emotional and value meanings of nicknames that allow the writer to influence the reader. The study is based on three novels by Yu Hua – Brothers, To Live, and Chronicle of a Blood Merchant – and their Russian translations. Twenty-five fragments were analysed; the specificity of the main characters’ nicknames was identified in terms of the pragmatic function they perform. It is shown that the process of integration ↔ separation and extraction ↔ filling (the rules of language unit use are being constantly updated and changed) of unique linguistic phenomena – nicknames – is inherently pragmatic. The article presents the author’s concept of nicknames, demonstrates the difference between nicknames and common names (social, family-related) and emphasizes the practical importance of nicknames (distribution, communication, symbolic figure, cultural characteristics) in prose. The novelty of the study lies in describing the pragmatic functionality of nicknames in different contextual environments, which reveals the degree of productivity and creative potential of nicknames, highlights the close relationship of nicknames with the characteristics of the time period and heritage of traditional culture, as well as points out the role of nicknames (as cultural symbols) in achieving balance in group communication. As a result, the author identified the specificity of the origin of nicknames and the potential variability of their evaluation, which causes differences in the understanding of their true meaning. Therefore, studying the intrinsic functionality of nicknames as a vastly preferable and popular form of naming in literary works, public life and other spheres of society is essential.

Some corollaries of these results in the fixed point and coincidence theory of single-valued and multi-valued mappings of metric spaces are also given. The comparison is provided with some known results by other authors. In the concluding part of the paper, we investigate the problem on the existence of a parameter-continuous single-valued branch of zeros for a parametric family of search functionals. Abstract:
At PKC 2008, Plantard et al. published a theoretical framework for a lattice-based signature scheme, namely Plantard–Susilo–Win (PSW). Recently, after ten years, a new signature scheme dubbed the Diagonal Reduction Signature (DRS) scheme was presented in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) PQC Standardization as a concrete instantiation of the initial work. Unfortunately, the initial submission was challenged by Yu and Ducas using the structure that is present on the secret key noise. In this paper, we are proposing a new method to generate random noise in the DRS scheme to eliminate the aforementioned attack, and all subsequent potential variants. This involves sampling vectors from the n-dimensional ball with uniform distribution. We also give insight on some underlying properties which affects both security and efficiency on the PSW type schemes and beyond, and hopefully increase the understanding on this family of lattices.

This article will briefly describe the features, methods, goals of family education in ancient China, as well as the relevant educational roles of the father and mother in the family. The article will also analyze one of the most unique characteristics of ancient Chinese family education: in each family fixed a tablet with the words 天地君亲 Tian Di Jun Qin Shi (Heaven, land, rulers, ancestors, sages). In ancient China, people believed that teachers and relatives, and heaven, earth, and monarchs, were objects that people should respect and worship. Obviously, this clearly differs from the traditions of most other countries. The idea of Tian Di Jun Qin Shi first appeared in Guo Yu (国语), and in Xunzi (荀子) you can see the initial form of this thought. Over the next 2000 years, these five words penetrate deeply into people's minds, and people often mention them in their daily lives. Their importance and value in Chinese culture and Chinese life are very important and indispensable. The role played by the idea of Tian Di Jun Qin Shi in ancient Chinese family education is more effective than any classical legal practice.

Central to this study is the SLC35B gene family (SLC35B1-4), which encodes nucleotide sugar transporters essential to cellular membranes. Emerging research highlights a link between these transporters' dysfunction and the development and progression of tumors, yet the specific role of the SLC35B family in CRC remains unclear. Our investigation delves into the function of SLC35B genes in CRC, utilizing an integrated bioinformatics approach with databases like GENT2, TCGA, UALCAN, cBioportal, TIMER, and Kaplan-Meier plotter. Our analysis reveals a notable upregulation of SLC35B1/2/4 mRNA in CRC tissues compared to adjacent non-tumor tissues, with a concurrent downregulation of SLC35B3. Promoter methylation analysis shows increased methylation for SLC35B1/3/4, while SLC35B2 demonstrates decreased methylation. According to GEO and TCGA data, CRC patients exhibiting high SLC35B4 expression face lower survival rates. Multivariate Cox regression analysis confirms high SLC35B4 expression as an independent risk factor. Further, SLC35B4 expression correlates with increased infiltration of immune cells, particularly macrophages, and aligns positively with immune checkpoints such as CD274 and HAVCR2. In vitro assays link SLC35B4 to enhanced cancer cell proliferation, invasion, migration, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). In vivo, SLC35B4 knockdown leads to reduced tumor growth in mouse xenograft models. RNA sequencing identifies 241 genes differentially expressed in SLC35B4 knockdown compared to control cells, with Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) associating SLC35B4 with the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. In summary, our research sheds light on the SLC35B gene family's role in CRC, especially SLC35B4, highlighting its potential as both a prognostic marker and a therapeutic target in CRC, particularly through its involvement in the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Abstract:
The marine pelagic tunicates of Family Salpidae Lahille, 1888 presence in the coastal waters of Terengganu was studied for the first time. Samples were collected from April to July 2016 using 200µm Bongo net; hauled vertically from a stationary vessel; and preserved in 5% buffered formaldehyde. A total of 4 species under this family were found, observed and identified: Thalia rhomboides (Quoy and Gaimard 1824); Thalia sibogae (van Soest 1973); Weelia cylindrica (Cuvier 1804) and Brooksia rostrata (Traustedt 1893). All species were identified as new records in Malaysian waters. The description on morphological characteristics and a key to the solitary and aggregate of the recorded species is added. The distribution was analyzed from the 18 sampling stations in theTerengganu waters including Pulau Bidong, Pulau Yu and Pulau Kapas. The collected data was then compiled with previous available global literature on the distribution and occurrence of these four species, consequently updating the biodiversity of Malaysian fauna and its worldwide biogeography distribution.

Abstract:
Practitioners are sometimes faced with the task of disclosing a diagnosis and/or prognosis to patients with life-threatening or incurable illnesses. Cultural taboos, religious beliefs, and fears are barriers to having candid discussions of death and dying. These barriers can influence practitioners’ ability to disclose information to patients and families and may delay treatment and decision making. Despite these common difficult situations, truth telling is central to communication between patients and their practitioners and is inherent in the doctrines of informed consent and of cultural competence. This article will discuss the practitioner’s use of clinical guidelines and ethical decision making while caring for Mrs. Yu, an Asian woman with a terminal diagnosis whose family requested nondisclosure.
