Abstract:
Children are often missing fundamental movement skills and elementary ball skills when they get into the game of tennis. They have not learned to play but they are often specifically trained from the very beginning. Learning is mostly done by practicing with instructions and corrections. The Mini-Ballschool for children 3 to 6 focuses on playing as the elementary form of learning.

Abstract:
Abstract Objective: To measure palatal landmarks of healthy nonpatient children aged 3 to 6 years with a normal deciduous dentition and to evaluate palatal shape independent of size. Materials and Methods: Fifty-eight dental casts of children with a normal and complete deciduous dentition were obtained and digitized with a computerized 3D instrument. At all ages, male and female data did not differ (Student's t-test), so the pooled values were considered. Dimensions were compared between ages by analyses of variance. Results: Palatal slope and height increased significantly as a function of age (P < .001). Palatal length did not change with age (average: 23.1 mm). In the frontal plane, the intermolar width increased slightly with age by about 1.8 mm at the second molars, 1.1 mm at the first molars, and 0.9 mm at the canines. Palatal height in the frontal plane did not change in the posterior part of the palate, but decreased anteriorly. The intercanine distance increased by 0.9 mm with age. However, this change did not reach statistical significance. Conclusions: Between 3 and 6 years of age, palatal shape changed and became proportionally higher in both the frontal and sagittal planes.

Abstract:
Background: A posture defect may be defined as a syndrome of abnormalities occurring in a relaxed upright position of the body. Deviations from the typical body shape are specific for given age and gender. Life determinants and social situation have a very significant impact on the development of body posture in young people. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to analyse the occurrence of spinal defects in children aged 3–6 years. Material and methods: The study included 75 children aged 3–6 years. The children were examined for spinal defects using the MORA computer system. Results: Boys in the study showed a correlation between height and the inclination of the upper thoracic segment, whereas no such correlation was observed in girls. A significant relationship was also demonstrated between BMI and compensation and inclination of the lumbar segment in all subjects. Overall height was also noted to be significantly related to both spine length and the length of its curvature. Conclusions: The occurrence of spinal defects is influenced by gender. BMI can have a significant impact on spinal morphology and the formation of body posture, even in pre-school age children.

Abstract:
Introduction: Breastfeeding is one of the fundamental principles for promoting health and preventing diseases. Objective: To determine the impact of breastfeeding on the occurrence of deforming oral habits and malocclusions in children. Method: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted on children attending the "Hermanos Saiz" Stomatological Clinic in the municipality of San Juan y Martínez, Pinar del Río, from November 2023 to May 2024. Population: Children aged between 3 and 6 years. (N=125). Sample: Intentionally selected by expert criteria, including 75 patients based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Information was obtained from individual medical records, surveys, and patient information forms. Descriptive statistics were used, with results presented as absolute and percentage frequencies. Results: Combined breastfeeding predominated in 5-year-old female patients with a breastfeeding duration of 0 to 3 months associated with combined breastfeeding. The main deforming oral habits were mouth breathing and digital sucking during the breastfeeding period of 0 to 3 months. The most frequent malocclusions were open bites and mesial steps. Conclusions: Mixed breastfeeding conditioned the presence of deforming oral habits which, when combined with poor maxillary development, could lead to malocclusions. The relationship between the infant's nutrition modality and malocclusions should continue to be studied constantly to provide more diagnostic and practical contributions.

Abstract:
BackgroundLittle is known about the predictive validity of disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD). This longitudinal, community-based study examined associations of DMDD at the age of 6 years with psychiatric disorders, functional impairment, peer functioning and service use at the age of 9 years.MethodA total of 473 children were assessed at the ages of 6 and 9 years. Child psychopathology and functional impairment were assessed at the age of 6 years with the Preschool Age Psychiatric Assessment with parents and at the age of 9 years with the Kiddie-Schedule of Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia (K-SADS) with parents and children. At the age of 9 years, mothers, fathers and youth completed the Child Depression Inventory (CDI) and the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders, and teachers and K-SADS interviewers completed measures of peer functioning. Significant demographic covariates were included in all models.ResultsDMDD at the age of 6 years predicted a current diagnosis of DMDD at the age of 9 years. DMDD at the age of 6 years also predicted current and lifetime depressive disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) at the age of 9 years, after controlling for all age 6 years psychiatric disorders. In addition, DMDD predicted depressive, ADHD and disruptive behavior disorder symptoms on the K-SADS, and maternal and paternal reports of depressive symptoms on the CDI, after controlling for the corresponding symptom scale at the age of 6 years. Last, DMDD at the age of 6 years predicted greater functional impairment, peer problems and educational support service use at the age of 9 years, after controlling for all psychiatric disorders at the age of 6 years.ConclusionsChildren with DMDD are at high risk for impaired functioning across childhood, and this risk is not accounted for by co-morbid conditions.
