Detta arbete är en reflektion över ett programvaruutvecklingsprojekt, WAIS, och den arbetsmetodik som användes för detta projekt. Arbetsmetodiken för utvecklings-projektet var Extreme Programming (XP) och vi ifrågasätter om detta val var lämpligt för ett projekt som WAIS. Projektet genomfördes vid Blekinge Tekniska Högskola under våren 2004. Utvecklingsprojektet WAIS var en del av ett större projekt, AIS 42, som stöds av VINNOVA. Huvudprojektets bakgrund och syfte beskrivs för att läsaren skall förstå den roll projektet hade. Studenternas uppgift har varit att utveckla en prototyp för ett system som skall sprida information relaterad till logistik och transporter. Slutanvändarna till systemet är många och de tillhör olika organisationer som är spridda både fysiskt och verksamhetsmässigt. Arbetsmetodiken XP faller in under paraplybegreppet Agile manifesto vilkas principer beskrivs i detta arbete. Paralleller dras till arbetsprocessen och dess resultat som projektgruppen har utfört. Vi reflekterar över projektarbetet och arbetsmetodiken utifrån det perspektiv som växt fram under våra år på MDA-programmet. Synsättet bygger bland annat på particpatory design och människa-datorinteraktion där användarmedverkan har en central roll vid utvecklingsprocesser. Vår slutsats visar att utvecklingsprojektet gått miste om flera av de fördelar som arbetsmetodiken XP kan ge. De orsaker som identifierades var: tidsaspekter, tillgång till aktörer och avsaknaden av en tydlig gemensam målbild.<br>This thesis is a reflection over a software engineering project, WAIS, and the work methodology that has been used within the project. Extreme Programming (XP) was the work methodology used during the process of development. We question if the choice of work methodology is suitable for this kind of project. The project was running by student during spring 2004 at Blekinge Institute of technology (BTH). The project WAIS was a part of a larger project named AIS 42 that runs with funds from VINNOVA. The main projects background and purpose are described in thesis so that the reader can understand the students’ part in the projects as a whole. The students’ main task was to develop a prototype for a system that disseminates information about logistics and transports. The system has many different end users and they come from various organizations that are spread out both physical and organizational. XP is treated as a methodology with in Agile manifesto, which principles are being explained in the thesis. Parallels are being drawn between the work process and the result from the work done. We reflect over the process and the work methodology from a perspective that has been brought forth from our years of education at BTH. The approach is built up upon theories from participatory design and human computer interaction where the user has an essential part of the process of development. The conclusion shows that the project has missed some of the advantages that XP brings. The reasons that we identified were; timeaspects, access to users and the lack of a joint objectiv.

This thesis investigates how different Linux-distributions installation interface relate to the ISO 9241 standard, parts 12 and 13, and how they relate to the installation interface of Windows XP, with the hypothesis: "There is a Linux-distribution whose installation interface according to applicable HCIrecommendations is equivalent to that of Windows XP." With the checklists provided by ISO 9241 an empirical study has been made, and so comparable measurements of how well the Linux-distributions and Windows XP follows the recommendations of the standard was obtained. By comparing the results from the tests similarities and differences between the installation interfaces can be deducted. As the result and the conclusion shows there are Linux-distributions whose installation interface, according to the applicable HCI-recommendations, are equivalent to that of Windows XP.

Com a popularização do uso de computadores pessoais
enfrenta-se o problema de
projetar interfaces mais eficazes, que atendam a uma
variedade cada vez maior de
usuários. Uma interface gráfica é um complexo sistema de
elementos visuais cujo
significado ou função nem sempre é evidente. Várias
abordagens foram dadas a
este tema, mas pouco ainda se examinou sobre a
capacidade
significativa de uma
interface. O objetivo da pesquisa aqui relatada foi
compreender como a interface
do Windows XP(marca registrada) produz significados e os
transmite aos
usuários. Para tanto, os
signos da interface do Windows XP foram estudados, com
base na teoria semiótica
de Peirce, com relação à estrutura interna, seus objetos
e
interpretantes, com
relação aos tipos de raciocínios que evocam e à
capacidade
de produzir conhecimentos,
isto é sua semiose. Ícones, menus e controles da
interface, em seus vários
contextos e possibilidades de interpretação, foram
selecionados como objetos de
análise pela sua natureza diversa e pelo importante
papel
que desempenham na
orientação da interação do usuário.
Esta análise foi precedida de uma classificação dos
elementos visuais do Windows,
a partir de publicações do fabricante do sistema que
tratam do design da
interface. Para cada um desses elementos foi elaborada
uma
resenha sobre suas
funções e funcionamento. Foram realizadas entrevistas
com
usuários que aceitaram
se submeter a um teste. Este teste consistiu na
realização
de nove tarefas simples
envolvendo o uso do Windows, destinadas a verificar a
hipótese de que os
signos de interfaces gráficas análogas à do Windows XP,
por seu caráter fortemente
simbólico, dependem mais do interpretante para completar
sua semiose, e
não cumprem efetivamente a tarefa de produzir e fazer
chegar aos usuários informações
suficientes para que aprendam a lidar com elas.<br>The dissemination of personal computers has posed the
designers the problem of
developing more efficient interfaces that attend to the
necessities of an ever growing
diversity of users. At the same time, graphical user
interfaces are complex systems
of visual elements which meaning or function are not
evident. Many approaches
to these problems have been suggested, but little has been
done towards
the comprehension of graphical interfaces capacity to
produce meaning. The goal
of this work is to understand how Windows XP human
interface produces meaning
and conveys it to users.
To do so, the signs of Windows XP interface where studied
under the point of
view of Peirce´s semiotics, in their relation to their
inner properties, their objects
and their interpretants, to the sort reasoning they arise,
and to their power to create
knowledge. Icons, menus and interface controls where
selected as objects of
analysis for their diversity and for the paper they play
in the guidance of user interaction.
This analysis was preceded by a detailed classification of
Windows visual elements
based on Microsoft´s publications concerning its interface
design. A brief
description of their characteristics and function was
added to their classification.
After the semiotic analysis an interaction test with
Windows interface was accomplished
with the help of some users, which were, afterwards,
interviewed. This
test consisted in the realization of nine tasks involving
the interaction with Windows,
which purpose was verify the hypothesis that the signs of
the graphical interfaces
analogous to that of Windows, for their strong symbolic
character, rely
much more on their interpretant to complete their
semeiosis, and hence, they do
not carry out effectively the task of producing and
conveying enough information
to users.

Agile methods have been received a great attention from the software development community in the last years. These methods propose an alternative for process driven software development on behalf of development with focus on the customer and the others stakeholders needs, on the constant delivery of functional software, on the iterative development based on delivery short cycles and on the acceptance of constant change of requirements through the development. On the other hand, usability processes specify practices through the development cycle that contribute for the end interface quality regarding to product usability. However, the agile methods do not treat practices related to usability. Because of that, this work proposes a method called XPu. The XPu was proposed as a XP extension and it has as main goal to deal with software products usability through an agile discipline. Results of an inspection and a case study comparing the development of a product using the XP and the XPu methods suggest a considerable quality<br>Os métodos ágeis têm recebido grande atenção da comunidade de desenvolvimento de software nos últimos anos. Esses métodos propõem uma alternativa ao desenvolvimento de software dirigido por processos em prol de um desenvolvimento com foco nas necessidades dos clientes e das pessoas envolvidas, na entrega constante de software funcional, no desenvolvimento iterativo baseado em ciclos curtos de entrega e na aceitação da constante mudança dos requisitos ao longo do desenvolvimento. Por outro lado, os processos de usabilidade especificam práticas ao longo do ciclo de vida de desenvolvimento que contribuem para a qualidade da interface final no que se refere à usabilidade do produto. No entanto, os métodos ágeis não tratam das práticas relacionadas à usabilidade. Diante desse cenário, este trabalho propõe uma método denominado XPu. O XPu foi proposto como uma extensão do método XP e tem como principal objetivo tratar da usabilidade de produtos de software através de uma disciplina ágil. Resultados de uma inspeção e de um estudo de caso comparando o desenvolvimento de um produto utilizando o método XP e o método XPu sugerem um considerável ganho de qualidade na interface final a um custo de desenvolvimento relativamente baixo quando o XPu é utilizado

Le cancer spinocellulaire (CSC) est le cancer de la peau le plus fréquent chez l’homme. Son étiologie est liée à l'exposition aux rayonnements ultraviolets (UV). Le xeroderma pigmentosum C (XP-C) est une maladie génétique caractérisée par l’absence de la protéine XPC entrainant une déficience dans la réparation des lésions dans l’ADN induites par les UV. La persistance de ces lésions chez ces patients entraine l’apparition précoce de CSC particulièrement agressifs. Les fibroblastes cutanés XP-C présentent un phénotype ressemblant à celui des fibroblastes associés aux cellules cancéreuses, suggérant un rôle promoteur dans le développement précoce des CSC XP-C. Nous avons étudié les effets des fibroblastes XP-C sur l’invasion de cellules de carcinomes. Dans des cultures organotypiques de peau, les fibroblastes XP-C favorisent l'invasion des cellules de CSC. De plus, ex vivo, la cicatrisation des cellules CSC est plus rapide en présence de surnageants de culture de fibroblastes XP-C et est due à un effet mitogénique des fibroblastes XP-C qui augmente la proportion des cellules de CSC dans la phase G2-M du cycle. Les fibroblastes XP-C surexpriment le facteur de croissance HGF qui active le récepteur c-Met et les voies de signalisation p38 et JNK dans les cellules de CSC. Le blocage de HGF entraîne l’inactivation de c-Met, p38 et JNK et bloque l'invasion des cellules CSC. De plus, nous montrons que les fibroblastes XP-C jouent un rôle de cellules « leader » dans l’invasion des CSC. Les fibroblastes XP-C créent un microenvironnement permissif à l'invasion des CSC. Des thérapies ciblant les fibroblastes XP-C pourraient permettre le contrôle de l’invasion des CSC chez les XP<br>Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most frequent metastatic skin cancer. His etiology is linked to exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR). Xeroderma pigmentosum C (XP-C) is a genetic disorder characterized by a severe susceptibility to aggressive SCCs following minimal exposure to UVR. XP-C cells are deficient in nucleotide excision repair (NER) of UV-induced DNA lesions. XP-C dermal fibroblasts expresse a phenotype resembling that of stromal fibroblasts associated to cancer cells with accumulation of reactive oxygen species and over expression of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP1). We explored the effects of XP-C fibroblasts on migration and invasion of SCC cells. In organotypic skin cultures, XP-C fibroblasts promote the invasion of SCC cells. Also, scratch healing of SCC cells is enhanced with culture supernatants of XP-C fibroblasts through a mitogenic effect connected to increased ratio of SCC cells in the G2-M phase of the cell cycle. We show that XP-C fibroblasts overexpress the hepatocyte growth factor/scatter factor (HGF/SF) and activate the c-Met receptor and the p38 and JNK pathways in SCC cells. Blockage of HGF inhibits c-Met, p38 and JNK activation and prevented invasiveness of SCC cells within dermal equivalents. Spheroid assays show that XP-C fibroblasts lead SCC invasions. Our data indicate for the first time that XP-C fibroblasts are responsible for the formation of a permissive microenvironment towards SCC cells proliferation and invasion. Therapies targeting XP-C fibroblasts may be considered as a way to control aggressive cancer in XP-C patients

InxGa1-xP films grown with different thickness on GaAs (001). Two sets of samples grown
by CBE (Chemical Beam Epitaxy) were analized: the first a GaAs buffer layer of 3000 Ǻ
and the second with an 1800 Ǻ buffer layer.
Concerning vibrational modes, it was possibleto conclude that for In
concentrations around 50 % this alloy has a two mode behaviour.
Polarized Raman spectra allowed to estimate the ordering degree of the
samples. It was possible to observe strong disorder for all of then, with 0,l26 ≤ η ≤ 0,443.
Photoluminescence measurements confirmed the disordering.
The stress, the lattice parameters and the concentrationsin the alloys were
obtained from the variations of the vibrational modes. The interdifusion of P atoms through
the GaAs buffer layer previously observed by X-Ray measurements was confirmed.
Finally, a comparative study showed that a sensible difference occur
between the vibrational modes of the alloys belonging to each set (with different buffer
layer thicknesses). Besides, the absorption coefficients, was also shown to be different for
each set.<br>Neste trabalho a técnica de espectroscopia Raman é utilizada para o
estudo de heteroestruturas semicondutoras finas com camadas de espessuras variáveis de
InxGa1-xP de rede cristalina casada à do substrato GaAs (001). As amostras forma crescidas
pela técnica de Epitaxia por Feixe Químico (CBE do inglês, Chemical Beam Epitaxy).
Dois conjuntos diferentes foram analisados, sendo o primeiro com camada buffer de 3000
Å e o segundo com 1800 Å.
A análise sobre os modos vibracionais desta liga permitiu concluir que
para concentrações de Índio próximas a 50 % ocorre o comportamento denominado a dois
modos .
Realizamos medidas de Raman polarizado para estimarmos o grau de
ordenamento de tais amostras. Pode-se observar uma forte desordem em todas as amostras
analisadas, com 0,l26 ≤ η ≥ 0,443. Medidas de Fotoluminescência também foram realizadas
confirmando o desordenamento.
A partir da variação das freqüências dos modos vibracionais foi feita uma
estimativa, através da análise das tensões, dos parâmetros de rede e das concentrações dos
elementos que compõem a liga InxGa1-xP de rede casada à do GaAs. Nesta análise
estudamos, ainda, a interdifusão de átomos de Fósforo na camada buffer formando a liga
GaAs:P. Este fenômeno também foi observado anteriormente, por medidas de raios-X nas
mesmas amostras.
Por fim, um estudo comparativo levou-nos a concluir que existe uma
sensível diferença entre os modos vibracionais das ligas de cada conjunto (com diferentes
espessuras da camada buffer ). Além disso os coeficientes de absorção, estimados através
da análise dos gráficos da razão das áreas sob a curva dos modos LO-GaAs e LO-GaP em
função da espessura do filme, também apresentam-se diferentes para cada conjunto de
amostras.

Previous issue date: 2003<br>Recentemente a comunidade de software vem se deparando com um grupo de
novas metodologias de desenvolvimento de software, classificadas como metodologias
ágeis . Algumas das metodologias que fazem parte deste grupo são Extreme
Programming (XP) e SCRUM, sendo XP a mais conhecida e utilizada. Estas
metodologias possuem em comum um conjunto de valores para o desenvolvimento de
software, priorizando: indivíduos e iterações sobre processos e ferramentas; software
funcionando sobre documentação compreensiva; colaboração do cliente sobre
negociação de contrato; resposta à mudança sobre seguir um plano. Em paralelo à
disseminação das metodologias ágeis, os investimentos em qualidade de software vêm
aumentando a cada ano. Pesquisas realizadas sobre o setor de software, indicam um
crescimento na adoção de modelos de qualidade como ISO 9000 e Capability Maturity
Model for Software (CMM). Modelos de qualidade e metodologias ágeis possuem
fundamentos opostos, como é possível notar nos valores definidos por essas
metodologias. Autores de metodologias ágeis freqüentemente criticam modelos como o
CMM. Em contra partida, alguns trabalhos indicam que é possível utilizar as duas
abordagens em um mesmo ambiente. Este trabalho apresenta o Guia XP-CMM2, que
tem como objetivo apoiar as organizações no uso da metodologia ágil XP em um
ambiente nível 2 do CMM. Com o uso do Guia XP-CMM2, as organizações deverão se
beneficiar da agilidade proposta por XP e da maturidade adquirida com o nível 2 do
modelo de qualidade de software mais respeitado do mundo, o CMM. Para a elaboração
do Guia XP-CMM2, foi realizado inicialmente um diagnóstico da satisfação de XP ao
nível 2 do CMM e, depois, para cada problema identificado, uma solução foi proposta.
Finalmente o Guia XP-CMM2 foi aplicado em dois ambientes distintos visando
avaliação dos resultados obtidos

<p>För att genomföra ett lyckat systemutvecklingsprojekt kan ett flertal utvecklingsmetoder användas. Utvecklingsmetoder hjälper till att undvika fallgropar under utvecklingsprocessen. De två typer av utvecklingsprocesser som arbetet baseras på är eXtreme Programming (XP) och Rational Unified Process (RUP).</p><p>Genom att identifiera skillnader samt hur XP och RUP kan kombineras, presenteras olika faktorer. En faktor är projektstorlek som enligt litteratur är den viktigaste faktorn vid valet mellan XP och RUP. Med hjälp av en enkätundersökning hos ett antal utvecklingsföretag har data samlats in för att ta reda på om projektstorlek är en huvudsaklig faktor för valet mellan XP och RUP. Undersökningen resulterar i att verifiera eller falsifiera om projektstorlek är en huvudsaklig faktor vid valet mellan XP och RUP. Detta kandidatarbete utreder hur väl två operativsystems inbyggda brandväggar fungerar i symbios med en användares vanligaste tjänsteutnyttjande på Internet, samt att se hur likartade de är i sitt skydd från hot. De två operativsystemen som vi utgick ifrån var Microsoft Windows XP samt Red Hat Linux 8.0. Den hypotes vi arbetat kring lyder enligt följande: De två inbyggda brandväggarna är i stort likartade rörande skydd från hot på Internet och uppfyller användarnas tjänsteutnyttjande. De metoder vi använt, för att svara på vår frågeställning, har delats upp i ett funktionalitetstest och ett säkerhetstest. I funktionalitetstestet provades de vanligaste Internettjänsterna med den inbyggda brandväggen och ifall det uppstod några komplikationer eller ej. De två inbyggda brandväggarna genom gick i säkerhetstestet skannings- och svaghetskontroll via ett flertal verktyg. Genom resultatet kan vi konstatera att de inbyggda brandväggarna klarar av de vanligaste tjänsterna på Internet, men att en skillnad föreligger hos dem vad gäller exponeringen ut mot Internet. Windows XP ligger helt osynligt utåt, medan Red Hats inbyggda brandvägg avslöjar en mängd information om värddatorn, som kan komma att användas i illvilliga syften. Slutsatsen blev att vi avslutningsvis falsifierade vår hypotes då de två inbyggda brandväggarna ej var jämlika i sitt skydd mot yttre hot på Internet.

High resolution analyses indicate that meiotic crossovers in human autosomes tend to cluster into 1-2 kb hotspots separated by blocks of high LD tens to hundreds of kilobases long. In contrast, low resolution data suggest only modest regional variation in recombination efficiency across the 2.6 Mb Xp/Yp pseudoautosomal region (PAR1), a male-specific recombination hot domain with a recombination rate about twenty times higher than the genome average. Recent data suggest a more complex picture of PAR1 recombination. Around the SHOX gene, 500 kb from the telomere, LD decays extremely rapidly with physical distance, but nearly all crossovers cluster into a highly localised hotspot about 2 kb wide. In contrast, SNPs in a 1.5 kb region immediately adjacent to the PAR1 telomere are in intense LD, implying that this region is recombinationally inert and that male crossover activity terminates at a currently unidentified boundary in the distal region of PAR1. To further investigate PAR1 recombination, the PGPL gene, 80 kb from the telomere, was targeted for analysis. This region had to be sequenced prior to SNP discovery and recombination analysis, revealing a novel gene that is potentially the most telomeric gene in PAR1. SNP analysis of a 33 kb PGPL interval showed that this region is in free association with the telomere, suggesting recombinational activity in the intervening region, which this study proved to be rich in tandem repeats. Within the PGPL region, LD decays slowly with physical distance at a rate consistent with randomly-distributed crossovers occurring at close to the genome average rate. However, sperm crossover analysis revealed it to be the most recombinationally active region of DNA yet identified. Moreover, the novel distribution of crossovers in the region, suggests that there is not a unified set of hotspot-based rules that govern meiotic recombination in the human genome.

El presente trabajo pretende otorgar un marco conceptual y practico para poder seleccionar la metodología mas adecuada para el desarrollo de software en la empresa. Para ello como caso de estudio se seleccionó a la empresa Lideres en Servicio SAC, que esta dedicada a la comercialización de productos y servicios de Telefónica del Perú (TDP) a la cual representa en calidad de distribuidor autorizado. Se realizó un análisis interno de la empresa y se identificó que la empresa tiene la necesidad de responder al cambio en forma continua, así como de obtener resultados en forma rápida. La relación con el cliente es estrecha, encontrándose cerca al Grupo de Desarrollo del Proyecto, llevándose a cabo continuas reuniones, las cuales están focalizadas a solucionar y priorizar los requerimientos. Además el 50 % de los desarrolladores cuentan con mas de 4 años de experiencia, considerándose Senior, y los demás Junior y Semi-Senior. Se concluye que tanto las metodologías ágiles como las orientadas al plan son aplicables eficientemente dentro de sus territorios, fuera de ellas, se corren riesgos. En este sentido, la experiencia indica que es mejor partir de una metodología sencilla, al cual agregar lo necesario, antes que partir de una muy completa, a la que se debe recortar todo lo no necesario.

My research has focused on developing an understanding of processes operating in and around the Xp/Yp telomere, combined with detailed analysis of the unusual properties seen immediately adjacent to it. To this end, 7 kb of telomere adjacent-sequence was analysed, revealing a SNP density, pi, of 1.73 x 10-3 across the first 3 kb, 2-fold above average genome level. Furthermore, the sequence analysis revealed a 1.9 kb tandem duplication in 86% of chromosomes. This included the minisatellite DXYS14, and both copies were found to be hypervariable, with pedigree analysis revealing mutation rates of 0.94% and 0.62% for DXYS14a and DXYS14b respectively, with double mutations often occurring.;Haplotype analysis revealed strong SNP associations across the entire 7 kb region. High-resolution crossover analysis was carried out using allele-specific PCR methods to selectively amplify recombinant sperm molecules, which indicated that the Xp/Yp telomere-adjacent DNA is recombinationally inert, with a rate of 2.4 x 10-6 cM Mb-1 calculated from 1.250,000 amplifiable molecules.;It was thought secondary structure may be implicated in both the high SNP density and low recombination rate seen, so analysis of t-loops and nucleosome phasing was carried out at the Xp/Yp telomere. While the efficiency of t-loop visualisation prevented specific targeting of the Xp/Yp telomere, preliminary nucleosome data suggest that nucleosomes are present, but not phased in this region.;Finally, analysis was conducted on the presence of the CTAGGG variant repeat at the Xp/Yp telomere. This variant repeat is presented at ∼7% of Xp/Yp telomeres, and in CEPH families, two telomeres containing arrays of CTAGGG were shown to display a ∼46% germline mutation rate, higher than the 0.6% rate estimated in telomeres not harbouring this repeat. It is possible that secondary structure may be responsible for the instability associated with this repeat type.

La cathodoluminescence et la microscopie électronique en transmission des hétérojonctions GaxIn1-xP/InP/InP(n+) nous ont permis d'étudier les mécanismes de relaxation relativement méconnus dans ce type de système. Les observations effectuées, confirment que la nucléation de macles suivant la direction 110 participe activement à la relaxation des couches épitaxiées en tension. L'accroissement de l'épaisseur de ces macles avec le taux de désadaptation entraîne une multiplication des phénomènes de glissement dévié et, par conséquent, la présence de nombreuses fautes d'empilement suivant la direction 110. Outre les macles et les fautes d'empilement, nous notons la présence de dislocations à l'interface. Dans le cas des structures faiblement désadaptées, celles-ci se présentent sous forme de réseaux bidimensionnels de dislocations parfaites 60 caractéristiques d'une croissance bidimensionnelle. Dans le cas des structures plus désadaptées, les réseaux sont composés de dislocations de type coin cisaillées par des dislocations parfaites 60. Cette configuration est plus conforme à une croissance tridimensionnelle caractéristique des systèmes en tension. Le substrat InP des structures étudiées étant fortement dope de type n, un important phénomène de recyclage de photons a pu être mis en évidence. Celui-ci conduit a une illumination de la couche épitaxiée par le substrat, des les faibles tensions d'accélération du faisceau d'électron. Outre quelques fluctuations de dopage, les dislocations d'interface apparaissent alors comme le principal régulateur de ce phénomène de recyclage et conduisent à de substantielles fluctuations spatiales de luminescence dans les différents échantillons. Les analyses par spectroscopie de cathodoluminescence révèlent que ces dislocations participent de façon efficace, tout comme les dislocations partielles des macles, à la relaxation plastique de ces couches.

Um dos principais esforços dos pesquisadores envolvidos com a Engenharia de Software tem sido apresentar e abstrair modelos que descrevem processos de software. Estes modelos permitem que se compreenda o processo de desenvolvimento dentro de um paradigma conhecido. A existência de um modelo é apontada como um dos primeiros passos em direção ao gerenciamento e à melhoria do processo de software. Na última década, um novo segmento da comunidade de Engenharia de Software vem defendendo processos simplificados, também conhecidos como "processos ágeis", focados nas pessoas que compõem o processo e, principalmente, no programador. O trabalho apresenta a aplicação e avaliação de dois processos. O primeiro a ser discutido é o Extreme Programming (XP), o qual está entre os "processos ágeis" e que vai contra uma série de premissas adotadas por métodos mais tradicionais de desenvolvimento. O segundo processo é o ICONIX, o qual é definido como sendo um processo prático que utiliza a notação UML. Como produto final, além da aplicação de cada processo, são discutidos os seus pontos positivos e negativos. Um estudo comparativo entre os modelos é também elaborado, onde são examinados simultaneamente os recursos de ambos os processos, para desta forma, determinar quais características devem ser inerentes a um processo de software que garanta a produtividade e qualidade.

A qualidade dos sistemas de software é uma preocupação de todo bom projeto e muito tem se estudado para melhorar tanto a qualidade do produto final quanto do processo de desenvolvimento. Teste de Software é uma área de estudo que tem crescido significativamente nos últimos tempos, em especial a automação de testes que está cada vez mais em evidência devido à agilidade e qualidade que pode trazer para o desenvolvimento de sistemas de software. Os testes automatizados podem ser eficazes e de baixo custo de implementação e manutenção e funcionam como um bom mecanismo para controlar a qualidade de sistemas. No entanto, pouco conhecimento sobre a área e erros comuns na escrita e manutenção dos testes podem trazer dificuldades adicionais aos projetos de software. Testes automatizados de baixa qualidade não contribuem efetivamente com o controle de qualidade dos sistemas e ainda demandam muito tempo do desenvolvimento. Para evitar esses problemas, esta dissertação apresenta de forma crítica e sistemática as principais práticas, padrões e técnicas para guiar o processo da criação, manutenção e gerenciamento dos casos de testes automatizados. Inicialmente, são feitas comparações entre a automação de testes e outras práticas de controle e garantia de qualidade. Em seguida, são apresentados os problemas e soluções mais comuns durante a automação de testes, tais como questões relacionadas a tipos específicos de algoritmos, sistemas com persistência de dados, testes de interfaces de usuário e técnicas de desenvolvimento de software com testes automatizados. Para finalizar, a dissertação traz uma reflexão sobre o gerenciamento e a abordagem da automação de testes para tornar o processo mais produtivo e eficaz.<br>The quality of software systems is a concern of every good project and much has been studied to improve the quality of the final product and process development. Software Testing is an increasing area, especially test automation, which is in evidence due to the speed and quality that it may bring to the development of software systems. Automated tests can be effective and can have a low cost of implementation and maintenance to ensure and control the quality of the systems. However, little knowledge about the area and common errors in writing and maintaining tests may bring additional difficulties to the software projects. Low quality automated tests do not contribute effectively to quality control systems and still take a long time of development. To avoid these problems, we present critically and systematically the core practices, standards and techniques to guide the process of creation, maintenance and management of automated test cases. Initially, comparisons are made between the test automation, other control practices, and quality assurance. Next, we present the most common problems and solutions for the automation of tests, such as issues related to specific types of algorithms, systems with data persistence, testing user interfaces and techniques for software development with automated tests. Finally, this essay reflects on the management and approach to test automation to make the process more productive and effective.

Os Métodos Ágeis surgiram no final da década passada como uma alternativa aos métodos tradicionais de desenvolvimento de software. Eles propõem uma nova abordagem para o desenvolvimento, eliminando gastos com documentação excessiva e burocrática, enfatizando a comunicação, colaboração com o cliente e as atividades que trazem valor imediato na produção de software com qualidade. Por meio de um processo empírico, com ciclos constantes de inspeção e adaptação, a equipe trabalha sempre num ambiente de melhoria contínua. Uma das atividades propostas pela Programação Extrema (XP) para guiar a equipe em direção à melhoria é conhecida como tracking. O papel do tracker é coletar métricas para auxiliar a equipe a entender o andamento do projeto. Encontrar maneiras eficazes de avaliar o processo e a equipe de desenvolvimento não é uma tarefa simples. Além disso, alguns dos possíveis problemas não são facilmente reconhecidos a partir de dados quantitativos. Este trabalho investiga o uso de métricas no acompanhamento de projetos utilizando Métodos Ágeis de desenvolvimento de software. Um estudo de caso da aplicação de XP em sete projetos acadêmicos e governamentais foi conduzido para validar algumas dessas métricas e para avaliar o nível de aderência às práticas propostas, com o objetivo de auxiliar o tracker de uma equipe ágil.<br>Agile Methods appeared at the end of the last decade as an alternative to traditional software development methods. They propose a new style of development, eliminating the cost of excessive and bureaucratic documentation, and emphasizing the interactions between people collaborating to achieve high productivity and deliver high-quality software. With an empirical process, based on constant inspect-and-adapt cycles, the team works towards an environment of continuous improvement. One of the practices proposed by Extreme Programming (XP) to enable the creation of such environment is called tracking. The role of a tracker is to collect metrics that support the team on understanding their current process. Finding effective ways to evaluate the team and the development process is not an easy task. Also, some of the possible problems are not always easily recognizable from quantitative data alone. This work investigates the use of metrics for tracking projects using Agile Methods for software development. A case study on the adoption of XP in seven academic and governmental projects was conducted to validate some of these metrics and to evaluate the level of adherence to the proposed practices, with the goal of assisting and supporting the tracker of an agile team.

Previous issue date: 2014<br>As metodologias ágeis vêm despertando interesse da academia e da indústria por
apresentarem processos mais flexíveis. Estudos mostram o crescimento da adoção das
metodologias ágeis Scrum e XP, no entanto, ainda há uma carência de evidências
sobre como a utilização de tais abordagens influencia no desenvolvimento de software.
Uma área que ainda apresenta lacunas de pesquisa é referente à satisfação dos
stakeholders no projeto de software. Nesse contexto, o objetivo dessa dissertação é
identificar o impacto das abordagens Scrum e XP na satisfação dos stakeholders em
projetos de software. Para isso se faz necessário responder às seguintes questões de
pesquisa: qual é o impacto do uso das metodologias ágeis Scrum e XP na satisfação
dos stakeholders? Quais as evidências de contexto desses impactos? Com o objetivo
de responder a estas perguntas, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura que
encontrou 22 estudos primários relevantes, cujos dados foram extraídos e sintetizados
em um modelo. Os resultados mostraram a identificação dos impactos das
metodologias na satisfação dos stakeholders como: (1) aumento da responsabilidade e
consciência do cliente; (2) melhora da gestão de risco e acompanhamento do projeto;
(3) promoção da melhoria contínua e resolução de conflitos, entre outros.

<p>Examensarbetet har sin ansats i utvecklingsmetoder närmare bestämt den lättrörliga utvecklingsmetoden Extreme Programming (XP). Beståndsdelen i en utvecklingsmetod är människorna, deras erfarenheter och kunnande samt deras förmåga att skapa idéer och lösa problem såväl enskilt som tillsammans. Utan nödvändig kompetens inom utvecklingsteamen ökar risken att utvecklingsprojekten misslyckas eller försenas. Syftet med detta arbete är att utifrån intervjuer med systemutvecklare undersöka vilka nödvändiga kompetenser som är nödvändiga för att XP skall kunna användas på ett effektivt sätt, även att uppmärksamma vilka problem som kan uppstå då den sociala kompetensen saknas. Metoden som har använts för att undersöka vilka faktorer som är nödvändiga i avseende till kompetenser är baserad på en kvalitativ ansats. Undersökningen har gjorts på två medelstora företag som använder XP vid utveckling av programvara. I stora drag har resultatet från denna undersökning utifrån intervjuer visat att social kompetens är viktig hos medarbetarna för att uppnå ett lyckat resultat. I ett projekt där samarbete med kunden sker kontinuerligt är det nödvändigt att systemutvecklarna har en god kommunikation vilken grundar sig på den sociala kompetensen. Slutsatser som kan dras från denna undersökning utifrån det empiriska materialet visar att social kompetens utgör en central roll inom XP. Systemutvecklare som använder XP behöver kunna kommunicera på ett klart och tydligt sätt, samt kunna samarbeta med övriga gruppmedlemmar för att projekten skall drivas framåt. I resultaten berörs även ytterligare kompetenser som kan vara till nytta vid användning av XP. Vidare redogörs för faktorer som kan vidtas för att uppnå kraven.</p>

In this work we focus on the facilitated delivery of as to the ClpXP protease. Proteolysis of as by ClpXP requires the accessory factor RssB. RssB is a two-component response regulator. Not surprisingly, its activity is positively regulated by phosphorylation of a conserved aspartate in its receiver domain. Whereas most response regulators are transcription factors, however, RssB is an adaptor protein. RssB binds to as, promoting a conformational change in as that exposes its N-terminal ClpX recognition motif. RssB also contacts ClpXP itself, enabling the formation of a quaternary degradative complex. Following the degradation of as, RssB is released. This work addresses two outstanding questions regarding RssB-mediated proteolysis of [sigma]s: 1) the requirement of RssB phosphorylation for [sigma]s degradation; and 2) the mechanism of RssB interaction with ClpXP. Previous studies have shown that phosphorylation of RssB increases its affinity for [sigma]s. Initially, phosphorylation of RssB was thought to be a pre-requisite for [sigma]s binding; more recently this has come under some debate. Our data demonstrate that phosphorylation is not strictly required for RssB function.<br>(cont.) Using both wild-type RssB and an unphosphorylatable variant, we show that the impact of phosphorylation on RssB activity is condition-dependent. With regards to the interaction between RssB and ClpXP, we demonstrate that critical contacts are made between the N-terminal domain of ClpX and a ClpX-binding sequence located, not at the C-terminus of RssB [sigma]s previously predicted, but within the inter-domain linker of RssB. This sequence motif is similar to those used by the other ClpXP adaptor proteins, all of which make contact with the ClpX N-domain. These results support a model in which adaptor proteins interact with a common binding site on ClpX. Indeed, we show that competition between SspB and RssB can occur in vivo and in vitro. Em nosso trabalho, medimos a composição do InXGal-XP e a taxa de crescimento em função do fluxo de TMIn + H2 e a energia da banda proibida em função da composição. Este conjunto de medidas mostra um comportamento anômalo do material em tomo do casamento com o GaAs. Atribuímos este comportamento ao efeito do ordenamento da liga.
Dentro da faixas estudadas, verificamos que a taxa de incorporação do Ga aumenta e que a taxa de incorporação do In diminui com o aumento da temperatura de crescimento e que a composição do InXGal-XP em função do fluxo de PH3 é praticamente constante.
Realizamos também crescimentos epitaxiais de InXGaMl-XP sobre GaAs com dopagens intencionais de Silício (tipo N) e de Berílio (tipo P) em duas temperaturas de crescimento .
Para as dopagens com o Sílicio, verificamos que a concentração de portadores é proporcional à pressão de vapor deste elemento e que não há uma diferença significativa na taxa de incorporação do Sílicio para as duas temperaturas de crescimento .
Para as dopagens com o Berílio, verificamos que a concentração de portadores é proporcional à pressão de vapor deste elemento para valores menores que aproximadamente 3,0xl018 cm-3. Vimos que para menor temperatura de crescimento ocorre um aumento da concentração de portadores e a cristalinidade da camada de InxGal-xP:Be melhora. A análise destes resultados indica a formação de complexos de Berílio.
Por fim, iniciamos um estudo das interfaces InGaP-GaAs. A análise preliminar dos resultados experimentais mostra que o aumento do fluxo de PH3 melhora a qualidade das interfaces<br>Abstract: We present here a study on the epitaxial growth of lnXGal-XP layers on GaAs aiming at the composition InO.49GaO.51P which is lattice matched to GaAs.
In this work we evaluated the growth rate and composition of InXGal-xP as a function of TMIn+H2 f1ow, as well as the variation of band-gap energy with layer composition. This set of results pointed out an anomalous behavior of this temary material for compositions close to the lattice-matched oneswhich is attributed to an ordering effect in the alloy.
For the temperature range studied here we observed increasing Ga and decreasing In incorporation rates with growth temperature. Also, the InXGal-xP composition does not depend on PH3 flow.
We have cauied out intentiona1 doping of the InxGal-xP/GaAs layers for two different growth temperatures. The dopant sources used were Si (n type) and Be (p type). For the Si-doped material, the cauier concentration is proportional to the Si vapor pressure and there is no significant difference in the Si incorporation rate for the two growth temperatures. For the Be-doped material, the cauier concentration is proportional to the Be vapor pressure on1y for values lower than ~ 3xl018 cm-3. For lower growth temperatures we observe an increase in Be electrical activation as well as an improvement in the crystal quality ofthe InXGal-XP layer. These results indicate the formation of Be clusters at the higher temperatures used here.

The microphthalmia with linear skin defects syndrome (MLS) is an X-linked dominant disorder with male lethality. In the majority of the patients reported, the MLS syndrome is caused by segmental monosomy of the Xp22.3 region. To date, five male patients with MLS and 46,XX karyotype (“XX males”) have been described. Here we report on the first male case with MLS and an XY complement. The patient showed agenesis of the corpus callosum, histiocytoid cardiomyopathy, and lactic acidosis but no microphthalmia, and carried a mosaic subtle inversion of the short arm of the X chromosome in 15% of his peripheral blood lymphocytes, 46,Y,inv(X)(p22.13∼22.2p22.32∼22.33)[49]/46,XY[271]. By fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), we showed that YAC 225H10 spans the breakpoint in Xp22.3. End-sequencing and database analysis revealed a YAC insert of at least 416 kb containing the genes HCCS and AMELX, and exons 2–16 of ARHGAP6. Molecular cytogenetic data suggest that the Xp22.3 inversion breakpoint is located in intron 1 of ARHGAP6, the gene encoding the Rho GTPase activating protein 6. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden die beiden dreidimensionalen Navigationsverfahren CARTO-XP und Ensite/NavX bei der Katheterablation von Vorhofflimmern miteinander verglichen. Dabei wurde die prozedurale Effektivität und Sicherheit, die Dauer der Intervention, die Strahlenbelastung sowie der Akut- und Dauererfolg der Verfahren analysiert.
In die Studie wurden insgesamt 109 Patienten eingeschlossen (CARTO-XP-Gruppe: 57 Patienten vs. Ensite/NavX-Gruppe: 52 Patienten). Die Zuordnung der Patienten in die Studiengruppen erfolgte konsekutiv nach dem Zufallsprinzip. Die Analyse der beiden Patientengruppen zeigte eine gute Vergleichbarkeit bezüglich aller wichtigen Parameter. Für den Vergleich der beiden Navigationsverfahren wurden die Dauer der Intervention, die Dauer des Mappings, die Durchleuchtungszeit, das Flächendosisprodukt, die Anzahl der Energieabgaben, die Häufigkeit einer ergänzenden cavotrikuspidalen Isthmusablation und die Komplikationsrate analysiert. Bis auf die Mapping-Dauer im linken Vorhof (in der CARTO-XP-Gruppe signifikant länger) zeigten die beiden Gruppen bei diesen Parametern keine signifikanten Unterschiede. Die Gruppen unterschieden sich ebenfalls nicht signifikant hinsichtlich des Akut- und Dauererfolgs, einer post-interventionellen Antiarrhythmika-Therapie sowie der Notwendigkeit einer Reablation. Auch eine Subgruppenanalyse von Patienten mit paroxysmalem und persistierendem Vorhofflimmern ergab keine signifikanten Unterschiede zwischen für die beiden Navigationsverfahren.
Damit war die längere Mapping-Dauer in der CARTO-XP-Gruppe der einzige detektierte Unterschied. Dieser Unterschied ist jedoch bei einer vergleichbaren Interventionsdauer in beiden Gruppen ohne Bedeutung.

There are several ways of conducting software testing where some may include users and others may include personnel whose work task is to execute test on systems. Although most developers and project managers understand the point of testing the system, it is not always being done and the most common reason is that there is no time for it. However, this is a false assumption as it may instead cause some bugs in the system that would not have been there in the first place if tests had been there to prevent bugs in the code. My purpose for this thesis was to find suggestions for changes in the development process in an ongoing project used by Acino and Svenska Försäkringsfabriken in order to increase the quality of the system used. In this thesis, I have approached the purpose by pursuing a case study of the two companies through observation and interviews. By doing this I acquired the relevant information to make suggestions for change. In my case study, I have analysed the work process, which includes the types of testing and development conducted on the system. Through this I have found suggestions for changes that can generate better quality of both the system and work process. The changes that I've suggested are directed against both the code that the system consists of and the work processes used by the two companies. While the suggestions I have found is not entirely new for the companies it is something that’s not included in either the code or process, but my hope is that I have created an awareness which could ultimately generate a positive change.

<p>Extreme programming (XP) är en av flera lättrörliga utvecklingsmetoder. Detta innebär att arbetssättet är strukturerat på ett sätt som gör att systemets innehåll enkelt kan omformas efter uppkomna önskemål under projektets gång. Dessa metoder är alltså anpassade för att hantera förändrade kravbilder under pågående projekt. Principen är att framtiden är föränderlig, varför det behövs utveckling som stöder föränderlighet.</p><p>Kunden ges en betydelsefull roll i lättrörliga utvecklingsprojekt.</p><p>XP består av ett antal praxis (practices) som tillsammans syftar uttryckligen till att utveckla enastående (outstanding) programvara. Vi har dock funnit att XP inte kan sägas utgöra en metod i bemärkelsen som Goldkuhl (1992) definierar en metod.</p><p>Vår huvudsakliga fråga som besvaras i uppsatsen är hur XP kan användas. Vi har genomfört tvåfallstudier. Vi var nyfikna på att förstå hur företagen löser problematiken att XP inte har en väl beskriven arbetsföljd. Vårt syfte med denna uppsats har varit att genomföra en metodvärdering av XP för att visa hur XP kan användas och vilka styrkor och svagheter som finns i XP. Genom detta vill vi försöka ge råd tillföretag och organisationer som funderar på att införa XP som systemutvecklingsmetod. Analysarbetet har vi genomfört med hjälp av Multi-grounded theory. Metodvärderingen har vi gjort enligt MA/SIMM.</p><p>Vi har i vår undersökning bland annat kommit fram till att bägge företagen som vi undersökt lyckas få till fungerande metoder med hjälp av XP. Vidare har vi funnit att XP innehåller styrkor som gör att projektgruppen utvecklar system med rätt sorts funktionalitet och system med kodrelaterat få fel,samtidigt som kunden får snabb kundnytta och projektgruppenen kompetensspridning. Vi har också kommit fram till att XP innefattar svagheter som leder till att XP upplevs kaotiskt. Vi tycker bland annat att XP kräver att flertalet av projektdeltagarna är erfarna utvecklare.</p>

<p>Behovet av tillgänglighet på kommunikation innebär att vi idag har krav på att meddelanden som skrivs över webben inte bara når oss via en dator utan även till våra mobiltelefoner. Målet med examensarbetet har varit att genom litteraturstudie och intervjuer konstruera ett webbaserat SMS-system som kan användas till att sända SMS textmeddelande till en godtycklig mobiltelefonenhet. Meddelande som sänds ska även lagras i databas och administreras via webbsidan. En jämförelse har även genomförts där syftet har varit att undersöka bäst lämpat programspråk för Bluetooth applikation. Metoden har grundat sig på kriterier. Jämförelsen mellan programspråken gav att Java med bibliotek från BlueCove var det bäst lämpade programspråket. För konstruktion av SMS-systemet har en objektbaserad utvecklingsmodell tillämpats, dock inte i full skala. SMS-systemet är konstruerat av webbsida, databas, blåtandsapplikation, Bluetooth- och mobiltelefonenhet. Webbsidan bygger på ASP.NET 2.0, databasen XML och blåtandsapplikation programmerades i Java. Kontroll har utförts att systemet uppfyller kravspecifikation.</p><br><p>As there is now wide access to the World Wide Web, demand now exists for Web messages to be available not only via a computer but also via cell phones. The aim of the project was, by means of literature studies and interviews, to create a web-based SMS-system which can be used to send SMS text messages to arbitrary mobile phone devices from a web page. The sent messages are also to be stored in a database and administered by means of the website. A comparison was also conducted in which the aim was to investigate the most suitable programming language for the Bluetooth application. The model for the study was based on given criteria. The comparison suggested that the Java programming language with its library from BlueCove was the most suitable. For the development of the system an object-based model has been applied, but this has not been adopted in a full scale manner at the present time. The SMS-system has been constructed by means of a Website, database, Bluetooth application and mobile phone unit. The website is based on an ASP.NET 2.0, database on XML and the Bluetooth application was written using Java. A control was conducted in order to test that the system meets the required specifications.</p>

This thesis is developed to mainly answer the question of how Extreme Programming and the standard ISO 9001:2000 with its interpretation for software development as TickIT Guide 5.0 can be used together, in order to have a continuous software process improvement with the agility to respond quickly to environment changes and satisfy the customer needs and expectations.

Semiconductor multijunction solar cell is a cutting-edge photovoltaic technology aimed at developing a frontier solution to the clean energy demand and environmental problem. Due to the efficient photoabsorption and energy conversion in the visible and near-infrared spectral ranges of the solar spectrum, the multijunction solar cell structures have shown an unprecedented application potential by demonstrating a solar conversion efficiency of over 44 %. Among various multijunction solar cell structural designs, the GaxIn1-xP/GaAs double-junction tandem structure is considered as the most fundamental building block for developing the industry-standard triple- and even more junction photovoltaic cells with super high efficiency. Therefore, obtaining a better and more in-depth understanding of physical properties of the GaxIn1-xP/GaAs double-junction tandem device structure, especially some fundamental optoelectronic processes in the individual structural layer, including photoexcitation, transport and the mid-way recombination of charge carriers, is crucial for further improving the energy conversion efficiency. In this thesis, the mid-way radiative recombination, diffusion transport, localization mechanism, and photocurrent spectra of charge carriers in the GaxIn1-xP/GaAs double-junction tandem solar cells grown on GaAs substrates with different misorientation angles were investigated in detail.
Our main findings are summarized as below. Efficient radiative recombination of carriers in the GaxIn1-xP/GaAs double-junction tandem solar cell samples was demonstrated by using electroluminescence (EL) and photoluminescence (PL) techniques. The radiative recombination intensity was shown to be dependent on the intrinsic material-related parameters such as the doping concentration, growth thickness and the substrate misorientation angle both experimentally and theoretically. The radiative recombination was thus revealed to be an important loss channel of carriers in the GaxIn1-xP/GaAs double-junction tandem solar cells.
Super strong transverse diffusion of minority carriers in the top GaxIn1-xP subcell was found by the micro-EL image surveying. Theoretical simulation on the experimental data shows that the minority carrier diffusion length is as long as ~93 μm at a forward bias of 2.75 V, which is ~30 times longer than that of unbiased GaxIn1-xP epilayer. Origin of this super transverse diffusion was argued, and its influence on device performance was also discussed.
Significant correlations of carrier localization and luminescence behaviors with the substrate misorientation angle in the top GaxIn1-xP subcells were unveiled by excitation intensity- and temperature-dependent PL. The large difference in potential energy profile of GaxIn1-xP layers, caused by the different degrees of atomic ordering, was argued to interpret the observed PL distinctions.
Vertical transport and photoresponse mechanisms of charge carriers in the GaxIn1-xP/GaAs double-junction tandem solar cells were studied by temperature- and reverse bias-dependent photocurrent (PC) spectroscopy. Both the temperature and reverse bias were shown to have significant impact on the device photoresponse, in particular on the photoresponse due to the absorption of photons with energy above the bandgap of GaAs and GaxIn1-xP, namely the supra-bandgap photoresponse.
