Abstract:
Acquisition of academic vocabulary is paramount to students’ success in academic life, as well as for the process of writing publishable papers in English so that research can be shared more broadly (NAGY; TOWNSEND 2012; PAQUOT, 2014). While in countries such as The U.S. and England the practice of offering Writing Centers for academic writing thrives, the initiative is still quite shy in Brazil (CONS 2020), though some Writing Centers around the country have recently started to operate. The aim of this paper is to report how the training activities of the Writing Center at University of Caxias do Sul – UCS Writing Center - use the Corpus Linguistics approach (BERBER-SARDINHA 2004) to enhance acquisition of academic vocabulary, therefore providing better academic writing skills to professors and students of the institution and the community it targets. The article contextualizes the Writing Center within the University and presents a series of activities which were designed based on research of Corpus Linguistics’ application to the teaching and learning of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). The activities provide specific instances of how Corpus Linguistics resources can be an invaluable asset for the improvement of vocabulary in academic writing in English, being especially useful for researchers who wish to upgrade the quality of the language used in their international publications.

Abstract:
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya tingkat motivasi widyaiswara dalam menulis artikel pada website Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik angket yang diberikan kepada 17 orang widyaiswara Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar mendapatkan data motivasi widyaiswara dalam menulis artikel pada website Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar. Data motivasi yang diambil adalah data motivasi widyaiswara setelah diberlakukannya pemberian honor menulis bagi widyaiswara yang mempublikasikan artikelnya pada website Balai Diklat keagamaan Denpasar sejak Tahun 2017. Data motivasi dianalisis secara deskriptif berdasarkan data angket motivasi dengan mencari rata-rata skor motivasi. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan Widyaiswara Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar mempunyai tingkat motivasi yang tinggi dalam menulis artikel pada website Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar dengan rata-rata skor 74,38. Skor motivasi widyaiswara dalam menulis artikel pada website Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar ini dijabarkan lebih lanjut pada tiap aspek motivasi. Aspek Kebutuhan fisik mendapatkan kategori sedang. Aspek kebutuhan rasa aman, kebutuhan sosial, kebutuhan penghargaan dan kebutuhan rasa ingin berkembang mendapatkan kategori tinggi. Rekomendasi agar Kepala Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar menyediakan anggaran yang lebih untuk memberikan honor menulis untuk meningkatkan motivasi widyaiswara dalam menulis artikel pada website Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar The purposed of this study was to determine the level of widyaiswara's motivation in writing articles on the website of the Denpasar Education and Training Center. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. Data collection was conducted by questionnaire technique given to 17 facilitator of Denpasar Religious Training Center to get motivational data for widyaisawara in writing articles on the website of Denpasar Education Training Center. The motivational data taken is the Widyaiswara motivation data after the enactment of giving honorariums to facilitator who published their articles on the website of Denpasar Education Training Center since 2017. Motivational data were analyzed descriptively based on motivation questionnaire data by looking for the average motivation score. The results showed that the Denpasar Religious Education Center Lecturer had a high level of motivation in writing articles on website of Denpasar Religious Training Center with an average score of 74.38. Widyaiswara's motivation score in writing articles on website of Denpasar Education Training Center website is further elaborated on each aspect of motivation. Aspects of physical needs get a moderate category. Aspects of security needs, social needs, rewards needs and the need to develop need to get a high category. Recommendations for head of Denpasar Religious Training Center is to provide more budgets to provide writing honorariums to increase widyaiswara's motivation in writing articles on website of Denpasar Education Training Center

Abstract:
This paper examines conceptual metaphor use by graduate-student writing consultants in a university writing center. Our goal was to develop a taxonomy for consultant metaphor in asynchronous online consultations; to find evidence that consultants could produce deliberate metaphors as an instructional strategy when responding asynchronously by e-mail to students and their texts; and to compare these data with Thonus’s (2010) investigation of consultant metaphor use in face-to-face consultations, Results showed that writing consultants trained in the use of strategic metaphors employed them in subsequent consultations. In addition, trained consultants used deliberate, coherent, and systematic metaphors in all six categories of our analysis, and they exploited metaphors students had developed in their writing. In comparison with their pre-training metaphor use, the consultants demonstrated increased metaphor use after training and used metaphors significantly differently from consultants who had received no training. We discuss these results in terms of deliberate vs. non-deliberate metaphor use in writing instruction, and we consider the feasibility and advisability of training writing center consultants to employ metaphors — specifically coherent, systematic metaphors — as vehicles for writing instruction in an online setting.

Abstract:
In this paper, the operating system and operation process of Youngsan University's writing center were reviewed, and the operation status and performance were analyzed. Based on the research results, the direction for the development of the university writing center, along with implications that can be helpful in composing the content and methods of university writing education, were suggested. First, in order to understand the operating status of the writing center, detailed information such as the organizational chart, the training programs operated for one year at the writing center, the business plan, the publicity poster, the training program application form, and the online homepage screen were presented. Next, the level of satisfaction of the students who participated in the writing center education program was analyzed. The satisfaction of the students who participated in the writing camp was generally high. However, 'enhancement of competency' and 'improvement of motivation' showed a somewhat low level of satisfaction. Also, this research confirmed that the satisfaction level of science and engineering students was slightly lower than that of humanities and social science students according to the students' majors. In order to solve this problem, various themes of the camp were organized, and writing educational content for science and engineering students was proposed. As a result of analyzing the students' online correction application types, this study confirmed that the students had a high demand for guidance regarding paragraph composition. Accordingly, this study argued that the direction of writing instruction should change from instruction that is centered on getting results to instruction that is centered on the writing process itself.

The Journal of Academic Librarianship, 43(4), 281-296. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.acalib.2017.04.005 Abstract Objective – To collect information on the existence and characteristics of collaborative partnerships between libraries and writing centers/writing tutoring services. Design – Email survey questionnaire. Setting – Academic libraries, writing centers, and writing tutoring services at two-year, four-year, and graduate/professional institutions across the United States of America. Subjects – 1,460 librarians, writing center staff, and tutoring services staff. Methods – Subjects were invited to participate based on a “. . . random sampling of 33% of each institutional “Size and Setting” group from the 2010 Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education” and the availability of contact information for the library or writing center at the randomly sampled institutions (p. 282). Respondents who identified an existing partnership between the library and writing center/tutoring services answered questions regarding collaboration methods, training, and promotion as well as open-ended questions on goals, assessment, ideal relationship qualities, strengths, and weaknesses. In the absence of a known partnership, questions focused on potential for, and ideal methods of, collaboration. Main Results – The survey had a response rate of 13.5%, based on the 197 responses that met the criteria for inclusion in the results. Of the respondents, 117 identified as librarians, 59 as writing center staff, and 21 as tutoring services staff. Respondents were affiliated with institutions in 43 states and the District of Columbia. 65% of respondents reported that a collaborative relationship between the writing center and library existed at their institution. Of those without a known current partnership, 77% believed there was potential for collaboration. Top existing collaborations included instruction (21%), student orientations (16%), appointments (14%), classroom presentations (14%), and writing tutors embedded in the library (14%). Only 35% identified strategic goals for collaborations. Respondents engaged in partnerships highlighted shared space, referrals, a unified focus on student success, and defined roles as top ideal partnership characteristics. Key partnership strengths included teamwork/relationship, focus on student success, and shared goals/knowledge/resources. Common weaknesses included lack of communication, planning, shared space, patron awareness, funding, staff, and collaboration. Conclusion – Diverse collaborations between libraries and writing centers/writing tutoring services exist. These collaborations may provide opportunities to support student success and information literacy outcomes. Based on survey results, the author suggested that improved communication between partners could mitigate identified weaknesses and assist in achieving partnership ideals. Additionally, increased creation and assessment of strategic partnership goals may strengthen communication and planning. Many respondents were interested in shared library and writing center space, an area which requires further research. Ultimately, the author concluded that more investigation is needed to inform best practices for partnerships.

[ANALYSIS OF THE PREPARATION AND PUBLICATION OF SCIENTIFIC PAPERS AS A BENCHMARK OF WIDYAISWARA’s COMPETENCE] This study aimed to describe the competence of widyaiswara, explain the inhibiting factors, and know the effort to increase the competence and professionalism of widyaiswara at Semarang Religious Training Center in composing and publishing the scientific paper. The method used in this study was an inductive qualitative method. The sampling technique by purposive sampling, data collection techniques are document review and interview. Data analysis techniques are using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study showed that widyaiswara at Semarang Religious Training Center have understood and are competent in composing and publish of scientific paper. The inhibiting factors for widyaiswara in composing and publishing the scientific paper, are difficulty fulfilling the writing style and journal form, time, and lack of information on how to publish. Efforts to increase the competence and professionalism of widyaiswara in composing and publishing the scientific paper have been done by the management is organize scientific writing training, send widyaiswara to follow the training of trainer the scientific paper, middle and high tier training and academic writing activities.

[THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE TRAINING OF SCIENTIFIC PAPERS ON WIDYAISWARA WRITING COMPETENCE] The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of the training of scientific article on widyaiswara writing competence regarding the formulation of research problems, the formulation of theoretical studies, the formulation of research methods, the preparation of results and discussion, and the presentation of conclusions and suggestions. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research was carried out in the Education and Religious Technical Training Center. The research subjects were 10 widyaiswara who had participated in the training on scientific writing. Data collection techniques are documentation studies while data analysis techniques are using qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that the training of scientific writing for widyaiswara was effective in developing the widyaiswara's competence in writing scientific papers. It revealed that all documents had included research problems in the introduction, content, and closing, although the terminology is not exactly the same as the writing guidelines but the essence is relevant to the problem. Some are explicitly disclosed and some are implicitly. Based on the results of the study, the researcher proposed a suggestion that the Pusdiklat continue to program scientific papers training for Widyaiswara.

Communication within international call centers can be significantly complicated by breakdowns that result from multiple layers of corporate language. This case study explores training sessions and documentation developed and delivered by an American team responsible for training international call center workers located in the Philippines. Findings show that attempts to standardize and control workplace language can limit meaningful two-way communication, leaving workers to both question what they are told and invent new ways of communicating. Recommendations are presented in this study for a workplace writing model that can overcome language differences through authentic interaction.

<p align="center"><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>Teachers often have difficulty in developing competence in the writing aspect, especially in Islamic-based educational institutions. This study aims to explain the concept of developing teacher competence in creative writing to realize madrasa literacy. This study involved six informants, including school principals and teachers who are members of the writing community. Data was collected through direct interviews (telephone, WhatsApp messages, and video calls), observation, and documentation. The results showed several steps to developing teacher competence in writing at MI Perwanida Blitar: 1) Forming a writing community called ARUNIKA CAKRAWALA. It was started by building mutual commitment, self-efficacy, motivation, and writing habits, and determining rewards and punishments. 2) Implementation of the writing community by actively participating in seminars, workshops, writing training, and webinars, actively writing in external and internal communities of the institution, holding peer tutors, supporting school literacy programs, and publishing teacher and student writings in various genres. 3) Obstacles faced by writing teachers are limited time, limited ideas, and unstable teachers' motivation in writing. This finding offers the concept of developing teacher competence in writing. The findings are expected to be adopted in developing teacher competence in creative writing in other institutions.</p>

The article deals organizational and content aspects of providers of adult education functioning in the USA and Canada. Comparative analysis of understanding of concept «content of education» by Ukrainian and foreign scientists is conducted. Content of education is experience, which is acquired by personality and becomes subjective. Peculiarities of concept «curriculum» are analyzed. In Ukrainian pedagogics content of education is viewed a system of knowledge, practical skills and ways of activity, experience of creative work, outlook, moral and aesthetic ideas. Specifics of Canadian and American centers of education functioning is analyzed. Every state in the USA and every province in Canada have center of adult education and center of knowledge spreading. Interconnection between centers of adult education and centers of knowledge spreading is traced. Centers of adult education are aimed at creating conditions for personal and professional development of every man. Functions of adult centers of education are singled out. The main functions are the following: monitoring and analysis of adults’ educational needs. Differences between programs of general education and programs of professional training and career development are traced. Five blocks of programs of corporate education are analyzed. Programs of general education are aimed at acquisition of knowledge that was not obtained at school in reading, counting and writing. Programs for professional development of adults are aimed at workforce training, development of small business, increasing opportunities for skills development, integration of practical skills and theoretical knowledge at workplace, training of adults for changes in their career. Peculiarities of programs for professional and career development are practical orientation, personalization, openness, binary adaptation. Key components of programs of corporate learning are the following: development of basic skills and knowledge, training of managers and administrative personnel, investigation of science and technologies, selling of commodities and work with clients, general education. Basic skills presuppose not only reading, writing and counting, but also knowledge of sciences, skills of reading, writing and critical thinking. Second block is aimed at training of managers and administrative personnel. The third block is aimed at learning science and technologies, which is rather important in conditions of information society. The fourth block is aimed at teaching how to work with clients in coordination with technical and management education. The fifth block presupposes personal and professional development of workers.

This study is intended to describe the effectiveness of the application of discovery learning model in writing Descriptive texts. Learning process in education and training field is less related to daily life so that the participants are less passionate and bored. The learning process is still centered on the Widyaiswara/instructor (teacher centered). The problem examined in this paper is whether the discovery learning Model effective in improving the learning outcomes of training participants in the English Teacher Training class in writing Descriptive texts. This research used the Quasi experiment method, conducted at the Surabaya Religious Education and Training Center. Madrasah Aliyah Class I English teacher training class was as a control group while Madrasah Aliyah Class II English teacher training class was as an experimental group. Data obtained through four types of instruments: (1) achievement test, (2) observation, (3) interview, and (4) questionnaire. Data of test results analyzed using t-test statistics. The results showed that the discovery learning model can improve the learning outcomes of participants’ products and processes. Discovery learning model can be used as an alternative learning to write descriptive text.

Purpose: To provide a description of a pharmacy residency rotation dedicated to medical writing developed at a tertiary care academic medical center. Summary: Contribution to the medical literature is an important component of professional pharmacy practice, and there are many benefits seen by practitioners actively involved in scholarly activities. Residency programs have an opportunity to expand beyond the standard roles of postgraduate pharmacist training but rarely is there formal instruction on medical writing skills or are scholarship opportunities provided to residents. In order to address this deficiency, a residency program may consider the implementation of a formal Medical Writing rotation. This rotation is designed to introduce the resident to medical writing through active discussion on medical writing foundational topics, engage the resident in a collaborative review of a manuscript submitted to a peer-reviewed professional journal, and support the resident in the design and composition of manuscript of publishable quality. Conclusion: A structured Medical Writing rotation during a pharmacy resident’s training can help develop the skills necessary to promote scholarly activities and foster resident interest in future pursuit of professional medical writing.

OBJECTIVE: To present a computerized intensive care unit order-writing protocol. DESIGN: Descriptive report. SETTING: Eight-bed surgical intensive care unit, Department of Surgery, Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Bronx, NY. METHODS: IBM-based, computer network program that provides user-friendly, logical, and comprehensive organ-system order sequences for patient management. RESULTS: Since July 1988, an order program that stresses (1) improved and more efficient patient care, (2) the use of program-integrated automatic safety features, (3) the substitution of computer entry for handwriting, and (4) the assurance that physicians deliver obligatory care in a logical organ-system—based progression has been implemented. CONCLUSIONS: The order protocol system presented is simple to introduce and operate, has minimal training and technical requirements, and is demonstrably reliable.

This article describes the goals and operations of the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, a public high school and career training program for students who are talented in theater, creative writing, music, dance and visual arts. Program goals, selection of students and faculty, curriculum content and counseling procedures are delineated. The second half of the article discusses the results of a survey of student perceptions of the impact of the program on various aspects of their lives. Recommendations generated from both the program description and the survey are presented.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine a learning phenomenon that emerged during the hectic distance learning method (online), namely the multitasking phenomenon carried out by trainees. This research is interesting because currently multitasking is an obstacle as well as a challenge faced by every online training participant. The question to be answered is whether the training are effective, when participants are doing multitasking. This research was conducted on participants of the Scientific Writing Training (KTI) at the Central Statistics Agency's Education and Training Center in 2021 and 2022. The method used in this study was descriptive quantitative analysis. The results of this study show that the participation of the trainees as indicated by their virtual attendance and their focus/concentration is disrupted by the large number of workloads (multitasking). However, the participants' multitasking conditions did not affect the effectiveness of the training as indicated by the increase in the post-test scores from the pre-test scores and the completion of the paper manuscript assignment. Nevertheless, the training organizers and the leaders of the trainees still need to consider this fact to take actions to reduce multitasking tension so as to increase the level of attendance and focus/concentration of the trainees.

Abstract:
This study aims at creating, implementing dan examining a training design innovation, whether or not it can improve the ability of the trainees. The study was carried out using descriptive-quantitative approach. This study has successfully created a training design called the Reverse Thinking (RT) method. That training design was then applied to the Article Writing Training at the Education and Training Center of the Central Statistics Bureau, attended by widyaiswara and statisticians with a total of 95 participants divided into two batches. The RT method has proven to be very effective in improving the ability of trainees to write scientific articles, both in terms of cognitive, affective, and psychomotoric (practical) aspects. Some indicators were that almost 100% of the trainees successfully submitted their papers to scientific journals on the last day of the training, evenmore 28 articles finally being published. The cognitive abilities of the participants also improved, indicated by the increase of the post-test scores. In the affective aspect, all participants have stated that their motivation in writing articles increased, as shown by the concentrated value between 7 and 10, from the 1 – 10 Likert Scale. Those results proved that the RT method could effectively improve competence of the training participants, both teoritically and practically.

This writing aims to analyze the factors for implementing change actions and can contribute to efforts to improve the implementation of change actions through an understanding of the factors that cause the low level of implementation of change actions for alumni of Administrator Leadership Training participants, organized by the Research and Development Agency and Education and Training Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion. This writing uses quantitative and qualitative methods through a review of related documents, namely the post-training evaluation report, which presents questionnaire data including informants covering three parties, namely alumni as owners of change actions, alumni superiors as mentors and training organizers, while data obtained through interviews by authors are 9 people including namely alumni as owners of change actions and alumni superiors as mentors. the writing show that from an implementation perspective there are internal factors, consisting of low willingness; seriousness; and motivation; as well as alumni communication with limited work teams and external factors, consisting of the unavailability of IT personnel; the absence of infrastructure and budget support; unequal perception between participants and stakeholders on the supporting data; and the lack of attention from direct superiors as mentors. Abstract:
Non-assertive behavior is one of the behaviors possessed by adolescents and adults so that they cannot refuse invitations and temptations from the environment to participate in using drugs. Assertive training are given to residents to improve assertive behavior in the Sekar Mawar Foundation rehabilitation center. Expressive Writing Therapy and task tables are a technological development model of assertive exercise techniques by combining cognitive and behavioral therapy given to residents who have less assertive behavior during the implementation of the process of social rehabilitation. Expressive Writing Therapy is carried out at the stage of self-identification before the assertive exercise is carried out and the task table is carried out after filling out the form Expressive Writing Therapy , both of which must be filled out by the resident. Expressive Writing Therapy and task tables aim to improve assertive behavior and reduce the number of resident relapses. This study was conducted to obtain an empirical picture to analyze the non-assertive behavior of residents in rehabilitation. This research method used is quantitative and this study used an experimental research design with a Single Subject Design (SSD) method approach with an A-B-A-B design reversal model. The target behaviors observed in this study are Express Feeling Behavior , Confident behavior and Communicating Behavior. The development of this assertive exercise can be one of the references and contributions in the practice of social workers with drugs. In this study we wanted to determine the presence of teachers’ information-communication-technological competencies in working with students with special educational needs. Desk research provides an overview of policy and support in inclusive education in Montenegro, with a focus on teachers’ inclusive training. From 2015 to 2018, 148 trainings were realized in the field of inclusive education and 3848 teachers were trained - most often, these were one-day trainings, duration - 8 hours, and the topics were: Working with specific disabilities, adaptation, individualization. Systematic observation based on a protocol was conducted with 15 children from the second to the sixth grade of primary school: autism; intellectual, visual, hearing, combined disabilities and difficulties: speech, language, reading and writing. The findings indicate that teachers are educated to an individualize approach. We observed the application of the approach and the use of learning and communication technology. The effects of teachers’ work and competencies are better after training, coaching and when they get support from the professional associates of the school and/or resource center. Teachers’ attitudes are positive, they show creativity, adaptability, use the technologies after they have been trained about the characteristics of students, and recommended approaches for working with them.

This study aimed to describe and analyze in depth about the application of the Arabic language education curriculum which conducted through an intensive course program by the Education and Training Center in University of Darussalam Gontor. This was a field research using qualitative approach. The data were collected by using observation, interviews and documentation. In analyzing the data, it used Miles and Huberman techniques. The results of this study showed that the intensive, effective and efficient training was conducted for trainees from various levels, involved basic, intermediate and high levels. This course used a communicative approach, particularly direct method. The participants lived in a student dormitory with a language habit in the environment for 24 hours. This intensive course aimed to improve receptive language skills including listening and reading, and deductive language skills including writing and speaking. The curriculums of this Education and Training Center consisted of academic and non-academic. Academic curriculum consisted of learning durūs al-lugah al-abiarabiyyah, nahwu and ṣaraf, mahārah kitābah, qirāah, istima ’, and kalām. While the non-academic curriculum was learning vocabulary, watching Arabic films, muhadatsah, singing Arabic songs, speeches, khot, and turats study.

From the multiple theories of experiential learning to discourse on learning styles and preferences, hands-on learning is well known as an important mode of engaging with new ideas and processes. This article runs with this notion by not just sharing interactive activities for training peer tutors but asking readers to participate in them. A narrative and reflective essay, it walks the audience through three exercises, step by step, and explores their impact in the contexts of the author’s tutor training program, her 2019 Canadian Writing Center Association Conference workshop, and the article itself. The piece asks whether there is room for more hands-on learning in all of these venues and calls on readers to reflect on their own experiences.

Writing plays a prominent role in learning a second language or foreign language. Research mainly focused on the development of writing skill from the teachers or trainers’ perspectives, but in the recent studies researchers have explored students’ concerns about writing skill and the difficulties they encounter in the process. The learners are fully aware of the challenges and their expectations of the courses. The purpose of this study is to investigate students’ perceptions about academic writing courses or writing in general and to investigate the differences they observe about the teaching practice followed in the kingdom as well as ELP in the USA. A total of 03 students (from three different provinces of the KSA) from the pre-university English language program (Applied English Center, Kansas University, USA) for Saudi students enrolled for various courses in their masters program in the US universities participated in this study. The general design of the study was qualitative in nature as a questionnaire and a focus-group interview were implemented for data collection. The overall results demonstrated that the difference in teaching strategies is a significant factor which poses a question mark on the professional training expected of the teachers involved in various universities in the kingdom. The major findings demonstrated students’ awareness of their needs and ESL writing requirements and how teaching writing in MT or so to say L1 influences their ESL learning. The study concluded with recommendations for future research.

Many sources mention the low quality of education in Indonesia. Through the action research classroom, gradual changes began. The essence of an action research classroom is the evaluation of learning. The benefit of this program is to improve the teacher's ability to conduct classroom action research. In addition, the mastery of writing action research classroom is also useful for increasing teacher credit scores for promotion. The target of this program is teachers in the Tuban Regency under the auspices of the Teacher Learning Center (PBG). The purpose of this activity is to improve understanding and ability to write action research classroom. The implementation method is through a series of training activities for one year using the ICARE model. The result of the activity is an increase in the teacher's understanding of the training material. In addition, the output of this activity is a report on action research classrooms. Based on the results of the activity output, the weakness of the teachers is in the literature review process and writing references. The teacher's advantage is creating innovative learning. The recommendation for further community service activities is a need for assistance to improve the ability to find literature reviews for teachers.

As educationists and policymakers have been concerned much in increasing the English proficiency of their citizens, educational policies on curriculums and syllabuses have moved increasingly towards various versions of learner-centered teaching approaches including task-based language teaching. TBLT is one of the widely discussed learner-centered approaches for the last few decades. It aims at developing students’ communicative skills through their active engagement in various tasks focusing more on meaning than on form. The study aims to explore English teachers’ experiences in teaching writing with respect to the intent of the secondary level English curriculum prescribed by the Curriculum Development Center, Ministry of Education, Nepal. The study is qualitative where five teacher participants were interviewed. The data were analyzed based on the taxonomy of task types by Willis and Wills (2007). The findings showed that the teacher participants are theoretically aware of TBLT, especially in teaching writing, and the intent of the prescribed curriculum; however, they are not able to fully bring their knowledge and skills into practice to meet the objective of the curriculum. Thus, the study purposes a way forward to strengthen teachers’ ability to bring TBLT theory into practice through training, workshops, research, and higher studies.

This study aims to know students’ perceptions on the role of Mobile Legends: Bang-Bang (MLBB) as the medium to learn English. This study explores MLBB as a possible training center where all skills which are necessary to learn English such as vocabulary, listening, reading, writing and speaking had been learned through the process of playing the game. This study uses quantitative and qualitative methods where questionnaire and interviews are employed to find the answers for all research questions. The respondents of this study were 31 freshmen students in STMIK Multicom Bolaang Mongondow who took Information Technology as their major. This study found that the majority of respondents perceive MLBB as an effective medium to learn English. 58.1% claimed that MLBB enriched their vocabulary, 61.3% claimed that MLBB helps them in listening practice, 58.1% claimed that they can read and spell English well after playing MLBB, 48.4% claimed that MLBB helps them in writing, and 67.7% claimed that MLBB helps improving their English pronunciation and speaking skill.

Abstract Objective The present study examined the relationship between the Social Skills Deficit (SSD) subscales obtained on the Personality Inventory for Children, second edition (PIC-2), and diagnoses of three major Learning Disorders (LD) of Math, Reading, and Writing. Method Participants in the present study consisted of 523 children from a mixed clinical sample who were between the ages of 3 to 17 years (M = 9.897, SD = 3.130). Participants were referred to a south Florida neuropsychology community assessment center and completed a full neuropsychological battery. Males composed 64% of the sample. Measures included SSD subscales, limited peer status and conflict with peers, within the PIC-2. Results To evaluate the relationship between scores on SSD subscales from the PIC-2 on three LD diagnoses, a Pearson Correlation with 2-tailed significance was used. Limited peer status was significantly correlated with a LD of Reading (r = −.160, p = .001) and Writing (r = −.160, p = .001). Additionally, conflict with peers was significant correlated with a LD of Reading (r = −.139, p = .001) and Writing (r = −.125, p = .004). There were no SSD subscales that were significantly correlated with a diagnosis of LD of Math. Conclusion From these results, the SSD subscale had the strongest correlation with diagnosis of a LD of Reading followed by LD of Writing. This study explicates the issue of reduced language-based skills and its impact on social skills. Due to the association between reading and writing and social skills, academic intervention should also include social skills training to increased peer interactions and reduce peer conflict.

Abstract:
Aims: This study aimed to investigate the effect of reading, writing, and math training on the mental state of schizophrenic patients. Methods & Materials: This clinical trial was performed on 60 patients with schizophrenia at Sina Hospital, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran. The patients were selected using a simple sampling method. The patients were randomly divided into two groups of patients undergoing routine treatment (control group) and patients under routine treatment with educational intervention (intervention group). In the intervention group, a trained person of the center held writing, reading, and math training sessions three days a week, each session for a maximum of 1 hour for six months. The study data were collected using Anderson’s positive and negative symptoms questionnaire and the mini-mental state examination. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS version 18 using the Chi-square test, Mann-Whitney test, and repeated measures analysis of variances. Findings: General scores of positive symptoms (P=0.038), hallucinations (P=0.033), delusions (P=0.023), and formal positive thought disorder (P=0.029) in the third measurement of the study were significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control group. Regarding the negative symptoms, in the third measurement, the affective blunting was significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control group (P=0.039). Mini-mental state examination score was also higher in the third measurement in the intervention group than in the control group (P=0.013). Conclusion: Reading, writing, and math education can be effective in improving the positive and less pronouncedly negative symptoms of patients with schizophrenia and improving their cognitive symptoms.

The majority of grant applications are reviewed by the NIH Center for Scientific Review (CSR). In this symposium, attendees will get 1) an overview of the types of applications submitted to the NIH for support; 2) the basics of the NIH peer review process and criteria and scoring system for evaluating applications, and 3) tips for writing a more successful grant application. Obtaining data from this study through interviews and observations.Results: Number of complete accurate diagnosis codes is 60 (60,6%), incomplete accurate diagnosis codes is 26 (26.3%) and inaccurate diagnosis codes is 13 (13.1%). Inaccuracies include errors in determining code, errors in determining 4th character ICD-10 code, not adding 4th and 5th characters, not including external cause, and multiple diseases.Conclusions: Inaccuracy factors are not competence medical record staff, incomplete diagnosis writing and no training, no evaluation or coding audit has been carried out, and standard operational procedure is not socialized.

OBJECTIVES/SPECIFIC AIMS: As multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research has become imperative to solving the complex problems of contemporary healthcare, teaching researchers how to create and maintain high-functioning and innovative teams has also become paramount. In Fall 2016, the Center for Improvement Science (CIS) core, in collaboration with the Translational Workforce Development (TWD) core, at the Cincinnati Center for Clinical & Translational Science & Training (CCTST) began offering training in Team Science in an effort to better prepare researchers for collaborative work. Since then, the CIS has expanded Team Science education into a multifaceted and adaptable curriculum that includes workshops, team consultations, Grand Rounds, grant writing assistance, grant review, train-the-trainer, and a graduate-level course. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Over almost 2 years, we have offered 9 unique workshops attended by individuals from the University of Cincinnati, UCHealth, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Recruitment was primarily accomplished via email invitations. Topics ranged from introductory team science issues such as Creating Teams, Team Effectiveness, and Team Leadership to more advanced team science areas such as Team Dysfunctions and Conflict Management. In addition, we have consulted with researchers on Team Science components of grant applications and served as grant reviewers for Team Science elements in a competitive, internal research funding program. We have developed tools and teaching strategies for faculty members tasked with teaching students about collaboration (train-the-trainer). And finally, we offered a graduate level course on Collaboration and Team Science. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: Over 250 participants attended our workshops and Grand Rounds, many at the faculty level, but we also had research staff and graduate students register. Content was very well-received, with workshop evaluations typically scoring in the high 4.5 and above range (on a 5-point scale, with 5 being the highest rating). The CIS team received (and accepted) at least 2 follow-up invitations from workshop participants to provide training to an additional team or group. We are tracking data on long-term effects of team science training and consultation, both in research productivity and team satisfaction/longevity. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: The goals of Team Science training at the Cincinnati CCTST are 2-fold: to provide practical knowledge, skills, and tools to enhance transdisciplinary collaboration and to promote systemic changes at UC, CCHMC, and UCHealth that support team science. After almost 2 years of training, team science is gaining traction among key leaders at our local institutions and a broader audience of researchers who see how collaborative practice can enhance their professions.

The online basic level training is supposed to provide junior assistant of ECCE teacher with minimum competency.The focus this study is to investigate how the management of online basic level training in improving the competence of ECCE teachers developed by PP PAUD and Dikmas West Java.The Purpose of this study is to describe the planning, implementation and evaluation of online basic level training in improving the competence of ECCE teachers. Supporting theories of this study are the management concept, training, online learning and competency of ECCE teachers.The methodology used in this study is descriptive qualitative with ex-post facto approach. The data obtained through analysis of documents and interviews with the organizer, instructor, mentor, administrator and alumni of Training. The subjects are five people consisting of the organizer, instructor, mentor, administrator and alumni of Training.Based on the analysis of data and discussion of research result, the findings are: (1) planning phase of online training was done with writing design, setting up learning media and tools, designing Content Management System (CMS) and Learning Management System (CMS); (2) Implementation of the online basic level Training employed three main strategies, i.e. face-to-face online, tutorials online and independent learning; (3) Evaluation of the online basic level Training was divided into two parts, the evaluation results include (a) cognitive, (b) affective (c) psychomotor, and program evaluation.Recommendations for the organizers are to increase server capacity, improve the Content Management System and Learning Management System, develop online intermediate and advance levels of leveled Training for improving the competence of ECCE teachers and develop other online trainings. Abstract Background: Wellness Rx is a community-academic partnership program developed through a community engagement and participatory model (CEP) framework, to improve health disparities in an under-resourced predominantly Black community. This program addresses health disparities in chronic disease and social determinants of health through interactive health education, empowerment, and neighborhood support. This program aims to increase access to resources, increase capacity and strengthen relationships with local organizations for sustainable health outcomes. Wellness Rx ran in the community for 4 years with financial and logistical support from an academic medical center. In year 5, the community participated in sustainability training to shift and transfer ownership to community members. Methods: A sustainability training program was developed and delivered to community members to allow for Wellness Rx to be community-led and self-directed. A core group of 12 community members volunteered to serve as the taskforce that would ultimately lead and direct Wellness Rx after the sustainability training. This training included Information sharing of program materials, key partnership contacts, resource lists, skills training on program implementation, volunteer management, grant writing, partnership development and leadership. Results: Since the adoption of the training program, the community has tailored the Wellness Rx to meet their needs and priorities, and encompasses topics within and outside of behavioral health. As leaders of the program, they have expanded their partnerships beyond existing networks and have secured funding for activities. Conclusion: Wellness Rx demonstrates the potential for a program to become self-directed after initial support from an academic medical center. Successful evaluation capacity building requires a dynamic balance between responding to local agency needs and ensuring that local staff have appropriate skills to conduct rigorous evaluations. In 2004, the California Tobacco Control Program established the Tobacco Control Evaluation Center (TCEC), based at a public research university, to provide evaluation technical assistance to approximately 100 local agencies implementing tobacco control programs. TCEC has been responsive to local needs, for instance, by answering 512 technical assistance requests in the first 5 years of operation and by tailoring training according to needs assessment results. About 50% of the technical assistance requests were for new data collection instruments ( n = 255). TCEC has sought proactively to improve local evaluation skills, most recently in a data analysis and report writing skill building campaign that included a webinar, newsletter, and seven regional training meetings. Preliminary analysis suggests a 20% improvement in scores for the local final evaluation reports as a result of this campaign. It is concluded that evaluation technical assistance can be provided effectively by a university as long as the local context is kept in mind, and a balance of responsive and proactive technical assistance is provided.

In 1991, the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) at the University of California, San Francisco, set out to develop a model of community collaborative research that would bring the skills of science to the service of HIV prevention and the knowledge of service providers into the domain of research. Essential elements of the model were training for community-based organizations (CBOs) in research protocol writing, partnership between CBOs and CAPS researchers, program research funding, support to implement studies and analyze results, and a program manager to oversee the effort and foster the relationships between CBOs and researchers. In this article, the authors describe the CAPS model of consortium-based community collaborative research. They also introduce a set of papers, written by researchers and service providers, that describes collaborative research projects conducted by research institutions and CBOs and illustrates how collaboration can change both HIV prevention research and service.

Meanwhile, the industrial sector development in Bima Region is still poorly managed, especially the center of the Tembe Nggoli weaving industry. Therefore, there is a need for efforts by the NTB provincial government to properly manage it. Local economic development which can be done for the product is by using the industrialization concept. Thus, the purpose of writing this article is to examine the industrialization concept by the NTB provincial government as an effort to develop the local economy. The results showed that industrialization efforts by the NTB provincial government included trainings which are based on skills affirmation, business management, production equipment assistance, capital assistance, and even the value of packaging and marketing coverage workshop. The outcome of the training is to provide an expansion of employment opportunities, increase the quality and production capacity. This article used a literature approach, by examining several journals, books, electronic printed documents, and information relevant to the study. The study is devoted to the relevant topic - the search for the most optimal ways to prepare students for the Writing subtest (TORFL-I) based on the principles, forming in the examinee a complex of knowledge, skills and expertise, embedded in the state educational standard in the Russian language as a foreign language of the appropriate level. The purpose of the research is to present, summarize and demonstrate on the example of the developed test tasks the principles of preparing foreigners for the Writing subtest in the system of International State Examination in the Russian Language (TORFL-I). The research materials include tasks, texts, test materials of a training nature in writing. The authors used methods of theoretical research: axiomatic, hypothetical, analytical, systemic. Empirical methods of observation, description, comparison were used when fixing the specific features of the components in the system of preparation for linguodidactic testing in Russian as a foreign language, which is carried out at Transbaikal State University at the Local Center for Testing Foreign Citizens (Chita, Russia). The results of the study show that preparation for testing should be based on certain principles - integrity, continuity, unity of control and self-control. The article emphasizes the principle of integrity as fundamental. Integrity in preparation for test in writing has several manifestations and implies the development of linguistic, communicative, sociocultural, discursive competencies among students; development of knowledge, skills and expertise in the field of writing with simultaneous development of writing techniques; considering the lexical minimum and requirements of the State Educational Standards for the first level of general proficiency in Russian as a foreign language. We also consider the principle of continuity to be important, which implies consistency in preparation for the Writing subtest - making skills and expertise automatic by repeating, looping; considering the material learned at previous levels of proficiency in Russian as a foreign language - elementary and basic. The principle of unity of control and self-control is considered in the content-functional aspect: a system of test tasks has been developed and presented, which allows to increase the effectiveness of the control and self-control process and the effectiveness of forming the competencies - linguistic, communicative, sociocultural and discursive. The methodology, based on these principles, allows foreign students to quickly adapt to passing tests and the necessary material in full.

The reason for determining the proposed object problem is the background of the problems that arise in the lack of use of the Al-Quran Education Park (TPA) as the center of religus character education. The solution proposed by the dedication team was to integrate the Al-Quran reading and writing learning with the values of religious characters to the santri. The method used by the service team is consultation, mentoring, and training. The contribution proposed by the dedication team is for TPA to maximize the role of TPA in religious character education. For santri, they can get additional knowledge. For the community, they can support the efforts to cultivate religious character education. The conclusion is that the existence of TPA is still essential in society as a place of education for children.

ABSTRACTIn 2005, with two of my students, I started a literacy program in a red-light district in Guatemala City. In 2007, we became a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of the rights of sex workers in Guatemala (i.e., Women for Justice, Education, and Awareness, known in Spanish as MuJER). Today, MuJER provides literacy classes and accelerated elementary school, vocational training, antiviolence programs, and grassroots organizing. We have worked with hundreds of women, both at our Community Empowerment Center and “door-to-door” in red-light districts. Using the experience of MuJER, this article provides recommendations for professors interested in working with students to create a nonprofit in the developing world: select students whose skill sets are different than your own; start by creating a program (not by formally establishing a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization); and recognize that the nonprofit’s long-term sustainability requires commitment to grant writing for years to come.

Writing scientific articles is one of the things that are mandatory for the scientific community according to its objectives. This community service activity is in the form of a secret peeling webinar activity that passes the National Education Training Center which aims to provide additional education related to professional and academic competencies for the scientific community and become a practical solution for publication for the scientific community. The scientific community in question is people who are in academia, such as teachers (teachers and lecturers), researchers, and students. This activity was attended by 52 participants from various professions and regions. In seeing the success of the objectives of this activity through data collection and analysis techniques in the form of video recording documentation of activities, observations and questionnaire responses of participants were carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. In the implementation of this webinar activity, it was quite successful in becoming a practical solution for publications for the scientific community, by showing the number of webinar participants attending more than 70% of the total number of registrants, there was a match between the planning and implementation stages, as well as the results of the participant's response questionnaire with average results. more than 80% responded positively. As an alternative solution based on the results of the discussion and Q&A from the webinar activity, these are (a) mentally prepare; (b) pay attention to the ethics of writing and publication; (c) the strategy for selecting journals and their publications by taking into account the selection of journals following the scope of the titles of the articles that have been made, and using a template according to the provisions of the journal we have chosen; (d) strategies in writing good and correct scientific articles.

Abstract:
The Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Education 2013 Affective Domain mandates students develop self-awareness of personal attributes affecting professional growth. Students should self-identify needs, create and implement goals, and evaluate success. This case study describes the qualitative and quantitative findings of an intentional reflection assignment prompting students to engage in a cycle of goal writing – monitoring – reflection – new goal writing, during an immersive clinical practice experience. A blinded review of 144 student assignments is presented in the context of a curricular review of the Reflective Practitioner Program (RPP), a longitudinal reflective thread spanning four years of professional pharmacy training. Evidence gathered in the assignment review indicates that students are sufficiently capable of establishing meaningful goals and describing why the goal is important to their professional development. In contrast, students struggle with articulating strategies for goal achievement and emotions experienced during goal monitoring. In consideration of these findings, RPP faculty identified three major themes when discussing key aspects of the RPP curricular design: 1) students need to articulate strategies for goal achievement in addition to stated aims, 2) students hesitate to identify emotions when reflecting, and 3) reflection needs to be both retrospective and prospective in nature. This case study has resulted in meaningful changes to RPP curricular design and illustrates how programs may approach assessment of the Affective Domain via common curricular elements. Abstract:
Patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis (HD) tend to have multiple comorbidities, especially cardiovascular disease, mineral and bone disorders which are important factors and contribute to the morbidity and mortality of HD patients. So it is important to know the types of intra-dialysis physical exercises that are safe and effective for HD patients. The type of research analyzed in this journal writing is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) that focuses on inter-dialysis physical exercise interventions both at home and HD center. With a literature search using PubMed, ScienceDirect, Willey, Proquest and Google Scholar databases. And those who meet the relevant requirements and reviews are: 8. Based on several reviews of intradialytic exercise studies in HD patients, intra-dialysis low intensity strength training is found safe and effective in adults and older. Research shows that doing 30 minutes of intradialytic exercise per session 3 times a week for at least ≥8 weeks is beneficial for HD patients. Regular exercise should be considered as an important therapeutic modality in the care of patients undergoing HD. Strength training improves physical performance, nutritional status and physical activity. But this study needs further research, so that it can contribute to the provision of evidence-based information in applying safe intradialytic exercises and become part of routine dialysis treatment units
