Abstract:
The babies are six months and over enter the fulfillment phase of complementary food. Working Mom often has difficulty in preparing the child's food, due to limited time and knowledge of food recipes, so using frozen food is an easy way to provide food. Apart from being considered more economical, cleanliness is also more guaranteed, and the most important thing is that nutrition is fulfilled and fresh when consumed even though you have to struggle with time. The purpose of this Community Service is to educate working mom in utilizing social media as a means of finding information, as well as a verified, trusted source. The method used was a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with approximately 30 participants from the Mom Blogger Community and the City of Pelangi in Pancoran, South Jakarta. The FGD’s result, the Working Mom utilizes social media because of their network and the ease of making food, no longer looking for trusted sources because of their lack of understanding in using smartphones, so that even though the making of MPASI recipes is accessed through a number of mass media and social media, it is necessary to consider, composition, material handling, processing techniques, sanitation and

Abstract:
The present paper intends to look at a genre of popular paperbacks, written by and about would-be or new mothers, called mom lit, which itself is a sub-genre of chick lit, and to investigate how it negotiates with the tropes of mothering, neotraditionalism, work and domesticity. Though books have been published worldwide that can be classified under this genre, here the focus will be on British and American mom lit (limiting ourselves to three novels) and how the legacy of a variety of popular productions like childcare books and mothering blogs – among others – inform it. A review of the critical literature, feminist as well as postfeminist, will be undertaken so as to contextualize these novels. Issues analysed include the debate regarding the performance capabilities of working mothers, the influence of self-help books in structuring the mother’s consciousness, the cycle of trying to balance work and children, “time-debt” and its attendant feelings of guilt, the psycho-somatic disorders that correspond to motherhood, and the issues of single parenting and unconventional motherhood. This analysis highlights the treatment given these issues in mom lit novels. As an inadequately investigated genre of popular writing, mom lit’s ascent to prominence and eventual waning off is critically considered.

Abstract:
The aim of this essay is to investigate to which extent the novel Kvinnor och äppelträd by Moa Martinson can be classified as a polyphonic novel. The concept polyphony was established in literary theory by the Russian language theorist and literary critic Michail Bachtin in 1929, in his book Problems of Dostoevsky’s poetics. In order to understand and comprehend the concept of polyphony I have used an interpretation due to the literature scholar Robyn McCallum. She notes that the characters in a polyphonic novel function as focalizers. All fictional characters create their own basis of social, cultural and ideological opinions and values, from which they provide their particular perspective on the story. Therefore, when fictional characters and their socio-ideological viewpoints intersect, a rather complex structure of interaction, dialogues and intersubjectivity is created between them.  Kvinnor och äppelträd is according to the most prominent scholar in the field, Ebba Witt-Brattström, a polyphonic novel. Her presumption is based upon the plurality of voices that is expressed in the novel, and the ambiguous interaction between them. However, to the best of my knowledge, no profound investigation of the novel’s polyphonic structure has yet been undertaken, and therefore this essay is dedicated to this task. For this purpose I have performed an analysis of the narratology in the novel, resulting in the overall conclusion that Kvinnor och äppelträd is indeed a polyphonic novel. Since the concept of polyphony also implies a modernistic feature, one can discuss the fact that Kvinnor och äppelträd has been classified as working class literature, and not modernistic literature. The final conclusion of the essay is that the complex polyphonic structure of the novel, and its controversial and pioneering content, have been underestimated and ignored. Regarding this aspect Moa Martinson should have been categorized under the Swedish literary modernism.

The objectives of present study were (1) to investigate whether individual differences in working memory capacity of L2 low-proficiency learners predict listening comprehension performance in a Cambridge proficiency exam (KET - Key English Test); and (2) to investigate whether learners improve their KET scores after two months of explicit training focusing on listening strategies. Participants included two groups of adult students (24 students in total) of English as a foreign language. The students were from an English Language Course in Porto Alegre. All students were Brazilian native speakers of Portuguese and were enrolled in classes that focus on the preparation for the Cambridge proficiency test. In the first part of the experiment the 24 adult students of English performed a working memory span test called BAMT-UFMG. In the second part of the experiment the experimental group (fourteen subjects in total), was administered two months (15 classes) of explicit training. The control group (ten subjects in total) was not given any training on listening strategies. The hypotheses of the study were: individual differences in working memory capacity would predict listening comprehension performance in the KET tasks; subjects would improve their scores in the KET tasks after 2 months of explicit training and awareness raising of listening strategies. The two hypotheses were confirmed. Individual differences in working memory capacity predicted listening comprehension performance in the KET tasks, r = . 66 and p<0. 001 for the “working memory task”, r = . 38 and p< . 031 for the “Sentence comprehension task” and r = . 87 and p<. 0001 for “short term memory/speed of processing task. ” Subjects differed in their scores in the KET tasks after 2 months of explicit training and awareness raising of listening strategies, z = -1. 96 (Wilcoxon Rank-Sum test for independent samples). The scores of the experimental group increased 14% after 2 months of explicit training on listening strategies, whereas the scores of the control group decreased 3%. Therefore, we believe that the present study contributed to research on the relationship between working memory capacity and listening comprehension in beginning L2 English learners. The study also corroborates the findings on individual differences in working memory capacity of Daneman and Carpenter (1980) and Just and Carpenter (1992), who state that the nature of a person's language comprehension depends on his or her working memory capacity.
Tínhamos duas hipóteses a serem confirmadas.

Toxoplasma gondii is a protozoan parasite that induces behavioral changes in rodents. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of infection by T. gondii during the chronic phase in working memory and impulsivity in rodents as well as the effect of antipsychotics to reverse any behavioral changes resulting from infection. Female Wistar rats (n = 40) were infected with 25 cysts of the strain ME-49 T. gondii after 4 months the animals were subjected to behavioral tests: tolerance to delay gratification, in which the animal must choose between two rewards, a smaller and more immediate, but delayed and the test of spontaneous alternation, in which the animal must use spatial cues to remember previously visited arms. Antipsychotic drugs were intraperitoneally administered during the testing of the behavioral experiments, the antipsychotic is haloperidol (1.5 mg / kg) administered 60 min before the start of the session and the antipsychotic clozapine (2.5 mg / kg) 30 min before. Animals infected with the parasite did not show operating deficits of memory, and motor impairment did not develop, however motor impairment was observed only in animals treated with haloperidol. It was found that administration of clozapine and haloperidol increased the percentage of alternation in infected and control groups in task switching espont?nea.N?o no distinction between control animals and infected the test of tolerance to delay gratification in relation to the percentage of choices greatest reward, during the pre-training and training, in which there is a delay of 15 s to access the great reward, however it was observed that infected animals prefer the greatest reward, when there is a delay of 30 s when compared to control group. The administration of clozapine possible that infected animals chose the greatest reward in the delay of 30 seconds during the test. These data suggest that infected mice do not exhibit deficits in working memory and that clozapine has therapeutic efficacy in improving cognitive performance of mice infected

Abstract:
In the area of rehabilitation robotics, many researchers have investigated the therapeutic effects of forces that are proportional to the difference of the user’s hand trajectory with an optimum trajectory that is usually based on the Minimum Jerk Model (MJM). Forces applied in different studies were based on MJM trajectory variables, e.g., velocity, acceleration, position, etc. Consequently, MJM is a key component for upper limb robotic rehabilitation. However, it is critical to establish the validity of this model in the working environment prior of employing it as a reference control function. This work investigates the validity of the MJM under a haptic-virtual environment. The original ‘real’ tests (with no obstacles) that were employed for validating the MJM in planar motion are duplicated in a virtual environment. Haptic feedback is achieved with the use of a Phantom 1.5 High Force haptic interface. Experiments with healthy users are performed to investigate the validity of the MJM in virtual reality conditions. The experiments demonstrated that the MJM is also valid in virtual environments. Nevertheless it was found that in the virtual world, higher time durations are required for completing the tasks than in the real world. The results of this work will be used in the design of haptic-virtual environments for the rehabilitation of upper limbs of people with neuro-disabilities. Therapeutic forces based on the MJM can be applied given that the Minimum Jerk Model is valid in virtual environments.

Abstract:
Abstract Mobile machines are exposed to a multitude of influencing factors, such as the working task, the operator and the environmental conditions. This leads to a broad spectrum of load collectives for the machine components. In many cases it is difficult to influence the working task and the environmental conditions under the objective function of achieving the required work goals optimally while at the same time minimizing the component load. The operation of the machine offers a more evident degree of freedom to minimize the component damage. With control systems adapted to the operator, the external environmental conditions and the working task, which instructs the operator to a less damaging operating behaviour or override the damage-initiating control signals, the loads and damage can be reduced. An explicit operator identification is the basis for such control approaches. This paper presents a method for machine operator identification (MOI) based on Hidden Markov Models (HMM). Through a parameter influence analysis and a combination with operation state recognition (OSR), a machine operator can be successfully identified among others. To create and validate the method, measurement data from 150 work cycles of seven different operators are analysed. Based on the MOI, a method for an operator-specific damage reduction using adaptive control strategies is developed. The results and limits of this strategy are presented and discussed by means of a complete machine simulation, considering the traction drive and function drives (working hydraulics), a multi-body simulation and the driving dynamics. The conclusion is made by considering predictive operating strategies to avoid damage-intensive operating points.

Abstract:
Abstract Engineering projects often undergo several design iterations before being completed. Information received from other groups working on a project (analysis, manufacturing, marketing, sales) will often necessitate changes in a design. The interaction between different groups associated with a design project often takes the form of informal “negotiation.” This form of interaction commonly arises when engineering information is imprecise. The Method of Imprecision (MOI) is a formal method for the representation and manipulation of preliminary and imprecise design information. It provides a mechanism for the formalization of these informal negotiations. The nature and scope of informal negotiation in engineering is explored and discussed, and application of the MOI is illustrated with an example.

Full text
Abstract:
The paper analyzes the influence of working fluids on the efficiency of the combined system integrated with solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), gas turbine (GT), organic Rankine cycle (ORC) and steam turbine. Based on the mathematical model under the same heat source conditions and defined limit conditions, the analysis and comparison of the obtained values of efficiency and losses of individual cycles and the complete combined system for ORC working fluids m-xylene, toluene and MDM (OMTS) was performed. Pre-selected working fluids for the use of heat generated in SOFC and GT after the work is performed must meet environmental, safety and thermodynamic criteria. A comparative analysis of the obtained results of losses and efficiency will show which of the pre - selected working fluids under the same operating conditions has the greatest impact on the efficiency of the ORC and the combined system SOFC - GT - ORC - PT. The obtained results of individual efficiencies of SOFC, GT, ORC and PT will be the basis for determining the percentage increase in efficiency of quadruple combined system compared to stand-alone SOFC, hybrid SOFC-GT and triple combined system SOFC-GT-PT, for ORC with all three working fluid.

Abstract:
Thermal engineers usually face two kinds of problems: design of new systems, where multiple alternatives for each composing unit of the system can fulfill the design requirements and/or assessment of exiting systems, where they usually work at off-the-design conditions due to deterioration of their efficiencies. The present paper addresses possible solutions to such problems via the Monte-Carlo method (MCM) applied to compressors as major units in airconditioning (A/C) and heat pump (H/P) systems having Carbon Dioxide (R744) as working fluid. Diversity of the effects of system design, process parameters and fluid properties within and across the saturation line hinders an overall-view of hidden capabilities and limitations of the compressors. Thus, it is hard to apply any appropriate optimization methods for their better design, besides the difficulty in assessing their performance along their working lifetime. In an answer to the above two points, the present paper utilizes the powerful MCM to investigate and expose the effects on compressor performance of all controlling parameters, randomly selected from their variation ranges within and across wet/saturation region to the transcritical dry region of R744. For each selected set of parameters, a complete analysis is calculated to determine the performance of the compressor. This process is repeated about 500 times to randomly cover the variation spaces of the parameters. The study reveals that MCM can fairly handle the parametric design and evaluation study of compressor performance. It shows that the initial temperature has a greatly decreasing effect on compressor specific displacement volume per unit work and to a less extent on size of compressor, while its effects on all other parameters are insignificant. Initial pressure has similar expected trends. Final to initial temperature ratio has increasing effects on both final pressure and work of compressor and decreasing effects on both second law efficiency and specific displacement volume per unit work. The application of MCM to the parametric compressor performance presented here could open many ways for further theoretical design optimization and experimental justification of the compressors and hence greatly limits the trade-off methods that are usually adopted in the selection of such units.

Abstract:
Developments in the command and control of offboard maritime assets, and evolution of the design of the assets themselves, have opened up new avenues to navies, industry and research institutes to change the way in which they consider and conduct Mine Countermeasures (MCM) operations. However this shift, driven by the opportunity for risk reduction and a potential increase in operational tempo, requires a change in Concepts of Operations; this will affect the way both MCM vessels and the associated MCM equipment are designed and operated in the future. This paper explores how BMT and QinetiQ have investigated the changes this new disruptive technology will have on MCM operations, and the concept of operations that can be adopted to maximise the use of this technology. Working with mine warfare and autonomous systems industry leaders, along with lessons from Unmanned Warrior 2016, and drawing on the experience of operators from several navies, the team established a range of operational concepts that can be employed to clear a minefield or hunt individual mines. Detailed Operational Analysis (OA) was carried out to validate these concepts and determine the required Unmanned Vehicle (UxV) numbers and capabilities. Aligned with this approach is the development of QinetiQ’s Equipment Agnostic Mission Enabling Infrastructure Technology (EAMEITS); a flexible system which maximises the use of UxV technology without adding to the operator burden. The outcome of this work is a new breed of MCM platform design which, thanks to the significant effort in developing the concepts of operation and the underlying OA over a number of years, is able to deliver mine warfare as technology transitions from the current capability to the future. This paper outlines the road taken to arrive at this design and the technology incorporated within, the lessons learnt along the way and what this means for the future of mine countermeasures operations.

In ASME Turbo Expo 2014: Turbine Technical Conference and Exposition. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2014. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/gt2014-26204.

Full text
Abstract:
In small scale and low temperature waste heat recovery systems, Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology can be identified as a promising solution in converting low-grade heat into electricity. The principle of ORC is based on a conventional Rankine process but an organic working fluid is adopted instead of steam. The use of high molecular complexity working fluids enables the design of high efficiency ORCs and are characterized by dry expansion and high pressure ratios over the turbine, as well as low speed of sound, which typically leads to highly supersonic flows in the ORC turbine stator. In order to design supersonic ORC turbines, the geometry of the turbine stator has to be based on design methods that accurately take into account the real gas effects of the working fluid during the expansion. In this study, a highly supersonic small scale ORC turbine stator using siloxane MDM as working fluid, is studied. The accurate real gas model was implemented in a CFD-flow solver in order to predict the flow field in the stator in design and in off-design conditions. The results of this study gives valuable information on realising small capacity ORC turbomachinery, characterized by highly supersonic stators, and on the off-design performance of supersonic radial turbine stator that has not been documented or discussed in the previous studies.

Abstract:
Pressure waves in pipelines develop any time there is a change in fluid velocity. If the change in velocity is large enough, the magnitude of a travelling pressure wave can exceed the Maximum Operating Pressure (MOP) of the piping. It is a violation of the Canadian and US regulations for petroleum pipelines (Canada – CSA Z662 4.18 and United States – ASME B31.4) to operate a pipeline at pressures in excess of 110% MOP even for short periods of time. In order to meet standards and regulations, transient analyses are undertaken to verify whether the pipeline MOP profile is susceptible to overpressures and to recommend solutions for such cases. This paper presents the results of a working group on developing a standard for the suite of transient scenarios and methodology to be used for detailed transient hydraulic analysis. The work consisted of reviewing and analyzing historical transient studies and, abnormal operating conditions / overpressure events recorded by Control Centre; as well as, incorporating new learning from operational lines. Methodology standardization focused on four areas: selection of inputs, model scope and criticality of pipeline sections, pipeline initial state, and worst-case upset scenarios. As a result, this paper describes the most prudent approach for each area or step of a pipeline transient analysis; including the evaluation of mitigation options if required. Finally, the use of this methodology is illustrated on a crude oil pipeline.

Abstract:
Researchers are becoming growingly interested in the development of solar-driven ejector cooling systems, primarily due to their potential to be used as renewable energy sources. Absorption and adsorption refrigeration systems not only involve considerable investment but are also much less reliable than the ejector refrigeration sys-tems, which do not contain any movable parts. In adition, ejector refrigeration has the advantage of low capital cost, simple design, reliable operation, long lifespan and almost no maintance. The only weakness of this system is the low efficiency and its intolerance to deviations from design operation condition. The paper develops a mathematical mod-el with an algorithm which is based on the laws of thermodynamics and the principles of mass and momentum conser-vation. Based on the obtained model, the influence of temperature on the basic system parameters for two working fluids, R134a and R290, is presented. The working fluid temperature ranges are 80-100°C in the generator, 5-15°C in the evaporator and 33-40°C in the condenser. The important performace indicators are the characteristic ejector area ratio Ar (as a geometrical ejector parameter), ejector entrainment ratio, ejector efficiency and the COP. The results indicate that ejector geometry and working fluid type have a major impact on the ejector cooling system’s performance.

Abstract:
This working paper critically examines Ayelet Shachar’s (2020) concept of the ‘shifting border’ and the solutions she proposes to tackle this recent phenomenon, pointing out potential gaps, inconsistencies and unintended consequences of letting legal responsibility follow states’ ‘shifting borders’. Instead, the paper argues for the need to deterritorialize the right to asylumin order to prevent states from retracting back from or shifting out their responsibilities for refugees and migrants, and to question and ultimately relax our current state-imposed mobility controls which have come to be largely taken for granted, even among migration and border scholars.

Jones, Theresa, and Elisabeth Storer. Key Considerations: Adherence to COVID-19 Preventive Measures in Greater Kampala, Uganda. Institute of Development Studies (IDS), March 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.19088/sshap.2022.005.

Full text
Abstract:
This brief sets out key considerations for risk communications and community engagement (RCCE) to promote adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures in greater Kampala, Uganda. It looks at adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures, assesses the challenges to their adoption and outlines key considerations for partners working in RCCE and the wider COVID-19 emergency response. The brief responds to concern (as of March 2022) about COVID-19 transmission in informal urban areas in Uganda due to their high population density, limited sanitary infrastructure, and reported low uptake of vaccination. Ensuring effective communication and engagement with a series of preventative measures is essential in limiting the spread of COVID-19. The Ministry of Health and response partners have been proactive, however interventions and guidance for COVID-19 have taken limited account of social science research about the perceptions and practices related to COVID-19 regulations. This brief aims to address this gap so these data may be used to inform more effective and practicable guidance for vulnerable groups. This brief draws primarily on an analysis of existing scientific and grey literature. Additional primary data was collected through consultation with six social science and RCCE experts who focus on this geographical area. The brief was requested by UNICEF Uganda in consultation with the Uganda Ministry of Health (MoH) RCCE subcommittee and the RCCE technical working group for the Eastern and South Africa region (ESAR). It was developed for SSHAP by Theresa Jones (Anthrologica) and supported by Elizabeth Storer (London School of Economics), with contributions and reviews by colleagues at Anthrologica, the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), UNICEF ESARO and Uganda, Makerere University, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Dreamline Products and the IFRC.

Abstract:
Bendigo, where the traditional owners are the Dja Dja Wurrung people, has capitalised on its European historical roots. Its striking architecture owes much to its Gold Rush past which has also given it a diverse cultural heritage. The creative industries, while not well recognised as such, contribute well to the local economy. The many festivals, museums and library exhibitions attract visitors from the metropolitan centre of Victoria especially. The Bendigo Creative Industries Hub was a local council initiative while the Ulumbarra Theatre is located within the City’s 1860’s Sandhurst Gaol. Many festivals keep the city culturally active and are supported by organisations such as Bendigo Bank. The Bendigo Writers Festival, the Bendigo Queer Film Festival, The Bendigo Invention & Innovation Festival, Groovin the Moo and the Bendigo Blues and Roots Music Festival are well established within the community. A regional accelerator and Tech School at La Trobe University are touted as models for other regional Victorian cities. The city has a range of high quality design agencies, while the software and digital content sector is growing with embeddeds working in agriculture and information management systems. Employment in Film, TV and Radio and Visual Arts has remained steady in Bendigo for a decade while the Music and Performing Arts sector grew quite well over the same period.

Butler, Nadia, and Soha Karam. Key Considerations for Integrating COVID-19 Vaccination Services: Insights from Iraq and Syria for the MENA Region. SSHAP, September 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.19088/sshap.2022.034.

Full text
Abstract:
With the COVID-19 pandemic well into its third year, governments and response partners are recognising that it no longer makes sense for COVID-19 services, including vaccination, to exist in isolation. There is growing recognition of the potential for integration with other services as the way forward for COVID-19 vaccination. This has recently begun to occur in various countries, but until now, there has been little evidence available as to the success of these initiatives. Service delivery integration occurs where “managerial or operational changes to health systems bring together inputs, delivery, management, and organisation of particular service functions in ways that are contextually appropriate and person-centred with the aim of improving coverage, access, quality, acceptability, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness” (Haldane et al. 2022) This brief draws on evidence from academic and grey literature and consultations with partners working in the COVID-19 response to review current integration efforts (as of August 2022) and explore potentially effective ways to integrate COVID-19 vaccination into other services in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Recent guidance on integration from WHO has also been cross-referenced where relevant. Iraq is taken as a detailed case study due to the efforts already made there on integration of COVID-19 and routine immunisation (RI) services. Global integration experiences and a brief discussion of integration efforts in Syria are also included. The brief is part of the Social Science in Humanitarian Action Platform (SSHAP) series on social science considerations relating to COVID-19 vaccines and was written for SSHAP by Nadia Butler supported by Soha Karam (Anthrologica). Verbal consultations and reviews of the draft were provided from response partners in Iraq and other locations within the region (IFRC MENARO, Iraq MoH, UNICEF Iraq, UNICEF MENARO, UNICEF Syria, WHO EMRO). The brief was requested by the UNICEF Middle East and North Africa Regional Office (MENARO) and is the responsibility of SSHAP.

Meeting the sexual health needs of men who have sex with men in Senegal. Population Council, 2002. http://dx.doi.org/10.31899/hiv2002.1005.

Full text
Abstract:
Research conducted in many countries has highlighted the vulnerability of men who have sex with men (MSM) to HIV and other STIs. Yet in Africa, they receive little attention in HIV/AIDS programming and service delivery because of widespread denial and stigmatization of homosexual behavior. In Senegal, a study conducted by researchers from the National AIDS Control Program, Cheikh Anta Diop University, and the Horizons Program has provided valuable information about the needs, behaviors, knowledge, and attitudes of MSM that has important implications for program managers and policymakers working to stem the spread of HIV/AIDS. The researchers used ethnographic and survey methods to elicit information from MSM 18 years of age or older from several neighborhoods in Dakar. As noted in this brief, the research team examined their own preconceived notions about sexuality, working through prejudices and taboos, and stressing the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of informants. All interviews were anonymous and informants were asked to provide oral informed consent. Informants received a small stipend to cover travel costs, information on STIs and HIV/AIDS, and a referral for a free medical consultation and treatment.

targeting rural NEETs. In my opinion, this is the most outstanding contribution of this manual, and also an original one, considering that to date no other efforts have been made with the intention of developing a grid of how to describe interventions dealing with rural NEETs. This manual offers, therefore, valuable contributions for upcoming research efforts within and beyond RNYN, including: (a) a complete methodological framework for future case stu-dies; (b) practical tools to conduct field research than can be combined with many different methodological approaches (qualitative, mixed-methods, etc.); and, (c) strategic criteria for conducting research in complex settings such as community-based programs. In addition, this manual sets the necessary conditions to present evidence-based conclusions about programs targeting rural NEETs, further aiding policy-makers to opt for solutions that clearly produce better results. This manual would not have been possible without the efforts and best knowledge from its editorial team. Therefore, as the Chair of RNYN, but also in a more personal note, I would like to thank Claudia Petrescu, Emre Erdogan and Paul Flynn for the impeccable and rigorous way in which they conducted all the process. I would also like to thank the Working Group 2 mem-bers traversing many countries who contributed to this document.
