Abstract:
Nowadays, many companies in Indonesia are running in the plantation field. Buana Tunas Sejahtera Company (Inc.) is a palm oil company in West Borneo Province that working under the Kencana Group. This company was organized by leaders, directors, managers, manager assistants, foremen, clerks, permanent workers, and freelance workers. The worker’s work performance in this company was slightly low due to their worker’s low motivation and discipline. This study aimed to know the method to improve the workers’ work performance in Buana Tunas Sejahtera Company (Inc.), Kapuas Hulu Regency. This was a descriptive quantitative study employing an Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) done by software namely Expert Choice 11. There were 100 workers chosen by the purposive sampling technique participated in this study. The result showed that the key point in dealing with the worker's work performance issue was meeting their social need, while improving their salary was a key point in dealing with the motivation issue. Building the worker's responsibility was playing an important role in improving the discipline culture. The company needs to improve the worker’s motivation by conducting training sessions, increasing worker’s salaries during the overtime hours, and giving more motivation to their workers. To improve the discipline culture, the company needs to use clear and firm rules to enforce the proper and accountable behavior among the worker.

Abstract:
Migrant domestic workers are among some of the most vulnerable workers across the world, because of their position as invisible workers and their precarious status as migrants. This article situates migrant domestic workers in the Zimbabwe-South Africa corridor within the global care chain literature. It recognizes the centrality of worker organization to any efforts to address their situation. Drawing on the experience of worker organizations in South Africa, it argues for a pluralistic approach to worker organizing. This calls for the recognition of plural actors, policy domains, normative regimes, and narratives that shape the global care chain, and the leveraging of worker’s plural identities.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND: In the face of significant costs for injured worker rehabilitation and its impact on society, ongoing examination of how rehabilitation is carried out is warranted. OBJECTIVE: To review recent studies that explored the impact of the worker’s choice in terms of provider and treatment on the outcome for the worker in injury rehabilitation. METHOD: A systematic literature review was conducted using searches through electronic databases, with studies retrieved then subjected to a quality appraisal. RESULTS: Nineteen studies were eligible for inclusion. Studies reviewed found that choice of provider or treatment generated more positive outcomes for workers, and workers preferred a treatment provider familiar with their care. The worker’s ability to exercise choice was affected by conflict with other stakeholders and misalignment of expectations. The relationship between choice and costs was unclear, sometimes conflicting. CONCLUSIONS: The impact of treatment and provider choice on outcomes for workers remains unclear. The worker’s ability to choose may be hampered by systemic constraints, access to preferred providers, misalignment of stakeholder expectations, and the worker’s ability to engage in decision making. Greater worker engagement in their rehabilitation could potentially reduce costs as well as improve psychosocial outcomes.

Abstract:
Abstract PT XYZ is a company operating in the tire retreading sector on JL. Medan-Banda Aceh, Cot Seurani Village, Muara Batu District, Aceh Utara. Retreading truck tires is carried out through several processes such as inspection, grating, repairing, gluing tire, installing tire treads, installing wheels and rings, cooking tires and finishing. The vulcanization process which is carried out manually and repeatedly makes workers easily fatigued, making them vulnerable to injury and the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). This research aims to calculate the workload of PT XYZ workers. PT XYZ to determine the level of worker fatigue using the Energy Expenditure approach and assessing worker work posture using the BRIEF method to assess work postures that cause complaints of pain in workers’ body parts. Researchers measured the resting pulse and working pulse of 8 workers, then classified the Cardiovascular Load (%CVL) and Energy Expenditure workload levels of the workers and assessed work posture using the BRIEF worksheet. The results of calculating the worker’s workload obtained an average %CVL value of 57.92%, the average result of the worker’s Energy Expenditure was 6,8048 Kcal/8 hours with very heavy work criteria. The average BRIEF work posture value is 3.28 in the high risk category. The suggestions given regarding the problem of workers who easily experience fatigue, high workloads and unergonomic work postures are to increase the number of workers, add benchrest jacks at each work station, add a table with wheels and rings and add chairs for finishing workers, lighten the work and reduce excessive bending activities for tire retreading workers.

Abstract:
Worker productivity is an important part of the successful development of human resources and infrastructure building. One of the ways to improve workers’ productivity is using training and worker certification. Therefore, there is a need to analyze the effects of training and certification on worker productivity with case study lightweight brick and steel rods workers in some projects in Palembang. This study aims to analyze the productivity value of workers between certified trained workers (TS) and untrained noncertified workers (BTBS) in the field. Furthermore, comparisons were also conducted on productivity based on field survey and Indonesian National Standard (SNI). This paper also analyzed the significant factors that affect workers productivity in the field. This productivity appraisal used field observation methods and questionnaire. From the results of the study, it was concluded that the training and certification of the workforce greatly affected the worker’s productivity; but some of workers’ productivity of trained workers (TS) and untrained noncertified (BTBS) met the standards of SNI, some did not. This was due to the influence of other factors beyond training and certification of the productivity value of handyman. Furthermore, based on t test results, the factors that significantly affect the productivity of workers were the skills of labor (X1), work motivation (X2) and management (X4). Thus the available regression equation was Y =0,024 +0,332 X1 + 0,676X2 - 0,039X4 + e.

Abstract:
As individuals specialize in specific knowledge areas, a society’s know-how becomes distributed across different workers. To use this distributed know-how, workers must be coordinated into teams that, collectively, can cover a wide range of expertise. This paper studies the interdependencies among co-workers that result from this process in a population-wide dataset covering educational specializations of millions of workers and their co-workers in Sweden over a 10-year period. The analysis shows that the value of what a person knows depends on whom that person works with. Whereas having co-workers with qualifications similar to one’s own is costly, having co-workers with complementary qualifications is beneficial. This co-worker complementarity increases over a worker’s career and offers a unifying framework to explain seemingly disparate observations, answering questions such as “Why do returns to education differ so widely?” “Why do workers earn higher wages in large establishments?” “Why are wages so high in large cities?”

Abstract:
ABSTRACT I examine the effects of providing workers with relative performance information (RPI) on employers' promotion decisions and the impact of those decisions on worker performance. In my experimental setting, the job after promotion requires higher-level abilities than the current job. I find that workers increase their effort to improve their current job performance after a promotion opportunity is announced because they expect this to increase their chances of promotion, even though the new task requires higher-level abilities. Moreover, because employers anticipate that workers who have RPI will react negatively if they see that the best current job performer is not promoted, employers promote the best current job performer, rather than the worker best suited for the next job, more often when workers have RPI than when they do not. Consistent with the Peter Principle, I find that when workers have RPI, the promoted worker's performance is lower after promotion because the promoted worker lacks the ability to perform the new job well. Finally, in a supplemental experiment, I find that providing workers with feedback on their abilities to perform the next job, in addition to current job RPI, improves the effective sorting of workers, but it comes at the cost of reduced promotion-based incentives. My results suggest that, notwithstanding the benefits documented in previous studies, RPI also imposes potential costs that firms should take into account when deciding whether to provide workers with RPI. Abstract:
Abstract We describe the mathematical modelling of the group behaviour of workers in the labor market. The worker receives the salary and seeks to improve his qualifications in order to receive higher wages. The worker enlarges his qualification by the investments in human capital. At a random moment of time, a vacancy appears that provides a jump in the worker’s salary. The mathematical model of the worker’s behaviour in the labor market is presented as an optimal control problem on an infinite time horizon. The paper presents the derivation of the Kolmogorov–Fokker–Planck equation for the Lévy process, which describes the behaviour of a large amount of workers within a social layer. The numerical solution of the Kolmogorov–Fokker–Planck equation and the calculation results are presented.

The impact that occurs in the field shows a decrease in the learning spirit of students. Not only in the education sector, all the impacts of Covid-19 have many obstacles and factors that workers face in order to learn, but the motivation of workers in the industry to continue their education is disrupted due to factors that indeed limit their mobility to learn. Workers increase their skills as individuals to gain self-quality by participating in training, formal and informal education. Worker's capacity is valued by the company from the potential development that the worker has to receive a fair welfare from the company in terms of allowances, bonuses, and performance evaluations achieved by the worker. The purpose of this research is for the researcher to understand the motivation of members of the National Workers' Union to learn, the factors that affect the motivation of workers to become night class students, to understand how the learning motivation of night class students affects their performance and self-quality. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methodology by conducting interviews with members of the SPN as night class students at Bina Bangsa University who are workers. Abstract:
Sasirangan is a typical cloth from the South Kalimantan which is produced by the Banjarist people in home industries. The production of sasirangan has a very positive impact on the welfare of Banjarist people. However, the processing and liquid waste resulting from the production process can have a negative impact on workers' health and the environment because it contains synthetic dyes and heavy metals. This is caused by poor worker behavior in processing and disposing of liquid waste from sasirangan cloth. Worker behavior can be related to worker education and knowledge. This research aims to analyze the relationship between education, knowledge and the behavior of sasirangan workers in processing and disposing of waste in the home-based sasirangan industry in Banjarmasin. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross sectional approach, carried out at 3 (three) sasirangan production locations: Sungai Jingah, Seberang Masjid Village and Surgi Mufti subdistricts. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 30 workers. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive and statistical analysis using the Chi Square test with the alternative Fisher Exact Test. The results of data analysis show the p value of the education variables (p=0.032) and knowledge (p=0.049). There is a significant relationship between education and knowledge and worker behavior in processing and disposing of waste in the sasirangan home industry in Banjarmasin. This is in accordance with Lawrence Green's theory, the better the worker's education and knowledge, the better the worker's behavior. The existence of a significant relationship between education and knowledge and workers' behavior in processing and disposing of waste in the sasirangan home industry in Banjarmasin requires follow-up in the form of efforts to increase education and knowledge regarding the processing and disposal of sasirangan waste for workers in the sasirangan home industry in Banjarmasin.

As we age, we change physically and mentally. As society ages, the birthrate decreases and the older worker’s social role increases in importance. The social role of the elderly is, however, threatened by the potential increase in age-related accidents. This research used 34,217 cases to explore and clarify the features of age-related accidents, classified by type, victim age –10 to 30s, 40 to 50s, and those aged 60 and over– and the number of absentee days due to accidents. Our results show that more time is needed for an older worker to return to the job after an accident than for a young worker. The importance of accident prevention for older workers is growing throughout industry. Ensuring such safety improves safety for workers of all ages. Issues involving age-related worker safety thus are related to the safety and well-being of workers of all generation.

Abstract:
The increasing prevalence of large-scale labor aggregation platforms, worker analytics, and algorithmic decision-making by management raises the question of whether workers can use similar technologies to advocate for their own goals. Yet, there are inherent challenges in building worker-centric tools that collect, aggregate, and share data in responsible and ethical ways. In this paper, we present the design and deployment of the Shipt Calculator, a tool developed in collaboration with non-profit worker groups that allows app-based delivery workers to track and share aggregate data about their pay, increasing wage transparency. We first discuss the design challenges inherent to building worker-centric technologies, particularly for informally organized workers, and ground our discussion in the history of worker inquiry and co-research. We then describe some principles from this history and our own lessons in designing the Calculator that can be applied by future researchers and advocates seeking to build technical tools for organizing campaigns. Finally, we share the results of using the Calculator to audit an app's shift to a black-box pay model using data contributed by 140 workers in the Summer of 2020, finding that although the average pay per-order increased under the new payment model, almost half of workers experienced an unannounced pay cut during the shift, and many workers worked shifts that paid under their state's minimum wage. Finally, we discuss how tools like the Calculator demonstrate the important role that aggregate worker data, and a new Digital Workerism, can serve in creating and maintaining a more balanced platform economy.

PLN Batam, after doing the calculation using the formula for slovin sample, then the number of samples taken is 93 respondents. Research results : Workers who know about work permit 61 persons (65.6%) who did not know the 32 people (34.4%). A bad worker attitude as much as 48 people (51.6%) good attitude 45 people (48.6%).A bad worker action 52 person (55.9%) good 41 persons (44.1%). Workers who never suffered a work accident 61 persons (65.6%) who have experienced work accident 32 people (34.4%). There is a relationship of knowledge workers with a work accident value of 0.006 p value. There is a relationship of the attitude of the workers with a work accident value p value 0.004. There is a relationship with the worker's actions work accident value p value 0.010. Conclusion and Suggestion : There is a relationship between the behavior of workers with a work accident in the implementation of work permit, but there are still some flaws, namely a good knowledge is not followed by attitude and action by the workers. And to achieve a good worker behavior, companies should enhance supervision to workers such as the execution of the work in accordance with the working procedures so that the level of work accident can be lowered

Abstract:
The efficient management of social worker personnel is important since it involves a huge portion in its operations. However, the burnout and turnover rates of social workers are very high, which is due to dissatisfaction with the irregular and unequal schedules, despite the continuous improvement in the treatment of social workers and the enactment of work-related legislation in Korea. This means that changes in policy do not significantly contribute to improving worker satisfaction, which shows the necessity of the strategies to prevent the turnover of workers. Therefore, this study aims to propose a strategy for the staff scheduling of workers that considers the fairness in the shift distribution among workers and the individual preference for shift work by using the linear programming. A survey about the preferences for shift work is conducted that targeted the employees of a welfare facility in Korea to enhance the practicality of the model. The effectiveness and applicability of the developed mathematical model are verified by deriving a deterministic schedule for a worker via the system parameters that were obtained based on the survey and the rules of the welfare facility in the numerical experiment. Compared to the conventional schedule, the derived schedule shows an improvement in the deviations in the number of shifts workers and a reflection of the personal preferences. This can raise the social worker’s satisfaction, which will decrease intention on burnouts and turnover. It will consequently facilitate on managing human resources in welfare facilities.

Abstract:
Human-robot collaboration is a flourishing work configuration in modern plants. Yet, the potentially hazardous collision between human workers and collaborative robots raises safety concerns. In this study, we proposed a collision avoidance method in which a single camera and a computer-vision algorithm were deployed to sense the location of human workers. Two collision avoidance schemes were further developed to determine the timing for robot to retract its arm. Specifically, the static scheme continuously monitors whether a worker is in a hazard zone, while the dynamic scheme predicts worker’s position after a short time, and monitors whether the predicted worker’s position is in a hazard zone. Preliminary validation showed that our proposed method can effectively enable a collaborative robot to retract its arms when a worker is approaching.

Abstract:
Knowledge workers perform work on many tasks per day and often switch between tasks. When performing work on a task, a knowledge worker must typically search, navigate and dig through file systems, documents and emails, all of which introduce friction into the flow of work. This friction can be reduced, and productivity improved, by capturing and modeling the context of a knowledge worker’s task based on how the knowledge worker interacts with an information space. Captured task contexts can be used to facilitate switching between tasks, to focus a user interface on just the information needed by a task and to recommend potentially other useful information. We report on the use of task contexts and the effect of context on productivity for a particular kind of knowledge worker, software developers. We also report on qualitative findings of the use of task contexts by a more general population of knowledge workers.

Abstract:
Manual material handling activities are still widely practiced in various industries, including supermarkets. Various products in supermarkets are moved with hand truck aids. This tool is used to ease of workers to avoid the risk of MSDs (musculoskeletal disorders) and LBP (low back pain). Workers' who concerns about work ergonomics, materials handling tools and their working environments can reduce the risk of MSDs and LBPs. In this paper we will examine how much the workers care about themselves, their tools, environment and their relation to work physiology of workers.Workers' concerns were identified using a Likert scale questionnaire with 5 scale of interest. Self-awareness is linked to an understanding of ergonomics, to hand tools used everyday and to the work environment. Occupational physiology is reflected in the pain experienced by workers as job impacts identified using Nordic Body Map (NBM), and work posture using OWAS (Ovako Working Posture Analysis System). The material handling worker assigned to move the product from supplier vehicle to warehouse or to showroom by hand truck. The survey results that the worker's concerned not so high on his ergonomics. The body map shows that before working the worker felt pain all over his body and got more pain after work. Worker's work posture varies substantially in category 1-2 which means that in this musculoskeletal system the work attitude results in significant tension influences requiring future improvement.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has created many new habits, rapid changes in information have made the need for the use of computers and electronic devices important for society and entrepreneurs. PT. RSS is engaged in the procurement of goods, maintenance, telecommunication services and event management. When workers carry out the maintenance process by cleaning hardware devices, non-ergonomic work positions are identified. This working position results in complaints of pain in the worker's body which results in a reduced number of hardware products being cleaned. Complaints experienced by workers can cause long-term illness and Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). This research was conducted to help workers/technicians when cleaning hardware is more ergonomic. Data collection was carried out by observing the body position of 5 workers while cleaning the hardware. This research begins by identifying problems using the NBM method. Then analyze worker posture using RULA and Anthropometry. The results of the analysis of this study are that work aids are needed so that workers are more ergonomic. The tools needed are to design and make an ergonomic workbench according to the dimensions of the worker's body. The table measures 167.2 cm long, 104.2 cm high and 73.4 cm wide. Evaluation of the results showed complaints of pain in the workers' bodies decreased. Complaints of workers' bodies before using the workbench have a value of 7 or the "Very High" category then drop to 4 or the "Moderate" category using the RULA assessment.

Abstract:
In the social insects, ovary state (the presence or absence of mature oocytes) and ovary size (the number of ovarioles) are often used as proxies for the reproductive capacity of an individual worker. Ovary size is assumed to be fixed post-eclosion whereas ovary state is demonstrably plastic post-eclosion. Here, we show that in fact ovary size declines as honeybee workers age. This finding is robust across two honeybee species: Apis mellifera and A. cerana . The ovariole loss is likely to be due to the regression of particular ovarioles via programmed cell death. We also provide further support for the observation that honeybee workers with activated ovaries (mature oocytes present) most commonly have five ovarioles rather than a greater or smaller number. This result suggests that workers with more than five ovarioles are unable to physiologically support more than five activated ovarioles and that workers with fewer than five ovarioles are below a threshold necessary for ovary activation. As a worker's ovariole number declines with age, studies on worker ovariole number need to take this plasticity into account.

Abstract:
This article focuses on the enjoyment of the right to work for workers with disabilities. This focus is driven by the fact that there are still many discriminatory practices for workers with disabilities in the workplace. This study identifies, for instance, a worker with sensory and physical disabilities that is assigned to a not accessible field of work. This assignment presents barriers faced by the worker and results in the termination of the worker’s employment. Based on this fact, this article addresses two research questions. What is the legal barrier to the enjoyment of the right to work for workers with disabilities? What adequate interventions should the state take to ensure equality and non-discrimination for workers with disabilities? This normative study answers these two questions by analyzing the norms of Law No. 13/2003 on Manpower with the component of legal barrier in the social model for disability. This study proves that the provision in the Manpower Law is categorized as a legal barrier to the enjoyment of the right to work for workers with disabilities. Therefore, this study encourages the state’s legislative function to complement the provisions of the Law with a substance that requires every employers to ensure that their business governance is inclusive and accessible to the diversity of workers with disabilities based on equal rights.

Problems of legal protection for migrant workers are not a new issue in Indonesia. As one of the states that send migrant workers massively, Indonesia seeks to increase protection efforts for its citizens who work abroad through the Law Number 18 of 2017 on the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (UUPPMI). The UUPPMI replaces the Law Number 39 of 2004 on the Placement and the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, which was criticized since it only focused on the issue of placement without paying attention on the protection. This study used normative method by showing some articles of the UUPPMI and analyzing the suitability of the arrangements to the theories of worker protection. The results indicate that one of the most prominent changes in the UUPPMI is the emergence of a larger role of the government, which means that it automatically reduces the role of private sector in the mechanism of placement and protection of migrant workers. The UUPPMI delegates the responsibility to protect migrant workers to both central and regional governments, starting from before, during, and after worker’s work period.

Abstract:
Legal protection is always related to government power and economic power, concerning government power, the legal protection for the people (those who are governed) against the government (those who govern). About the people, in Article 1, paragraph 3 of Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning employment, a worker or labourer is any person who works and receives wages in other forms. Workers are workers who work for employers and receive wages. The work agreement is divided into two: a specified time work agreement and an unspecified time work agreement. A contract worker works based on a work agreement for a certain time (PKWT), namely a work agreement between employers and workers to enter into a working relationship for a certain time or a certain job. Suppose in the employment agreement, the employer makes Termination of Employment (PHK), namely terminating the employment relationship because of a certain matter which results in the end of the rights and obligations of the worker. In that case, carrying out legal protection for the worker/labourer is very important. The author here will discuss issues regarding protecting the rights of contract workers who are laid off from companies and how legal remedies can be taken by contract workers who are laid off before the contract period ends. The purpose of the author, especially in the field of labour, is to prevent arbitrary termination of employment and to analyze the rights of contract workers who have been subject to Termination of Employment (PHK) before the contract period ends. The research method used is a problem approach through a statute approach and a conceptual approach. The results of the writing discussed by the author are that the party that terminates the employment relationship is required to pay compensation to the other party in the amount of the worker's salary until the expiration of the work agreement period.

Abstract:
It is important for construction companies to sustain a productive workforce without sacrificing its health and safety. This study aims to develop a practical judgement method to estimate the workload risk of individual construction workers. Based on studies, we developed a workload model comprising a hygrothermal environment, behavioral information, and the physical characteristics of workers). The construction workers’ heart rate and physical activity were measured using the data collected from a wearable device equipped with a biosensor and an acceleration sensor. This study is the first report to use worker physical activity, age, and the wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) to determine a worker’s physical workload. The accuracy of this health risk judgment result was 89.2%, indicating that it is possible to easily judge the health risk of workers even in an environment where it is difficult to measure the subject in advance. The proposed model and its findings can aid in monitoring the health impacts of working conditions during construction activities, and thereby contribute toward determining workers’ health damage. However, the sampled construction workers are 12 workers, further studies in other working conditions are required to accumulate more evidence and assure the accuracy of the models.

Abstract:
AbstractA recent study showed that worker larvae fed in a queenless colony develop into another female polyphenic form—rebel workers. The rebel workers are more queen-like than normal workers because they have higher reproductive potential revealed by more ovarioles in their ovaries. However, it was unclear whether eggs laid by rebel workers avoided worker policing. Worker-laid eggs are normally eaten by other workers in a queenright colony. The aim of this study was to compare the survival of three classes of eggs, namely, those laid by normal workers, rebel workers, and the queen. All eggs were tested in queenright colonies. We expected that rebel workers would avoid policing by laying more queen-like eggs. Contrary to our expectations, eggs laid by rebel workers were eaten by other workers, as were eggs laid by normal workers, and only a few worker-laid eggs (both normal and rebel) survived for more than 3 h. Therefore, in a queenright colony, eggs laid by rebel workers do not avoid policing.

Abstract:
ObjectivesOccupational noise exposure is a major cause of hearing loss worldwide. In order to inform preventative strategies, we need to further understand at a population level which workers are most at risk.MethodsWe have developed a new questionnaire-based algorithm that evaluates an individual worker’s noise exposure. The questionnaire and supporting algorithms are embedded into the existing software platform, OccIDEAS. Based on the tasks performed by a worker during their most recent working shift and using a library of task-based noise exposure levels, OccIDEAS estimates whether a worker has exceeded the full-shift workplace noise exposure limit (LAeq,8h≥85 dBA). We evaluated the validity of the system in a sample of 100 construction workers. Each worker wore a dosimeter for a full working shift and was then interviewed using the OccIDEAS software.ResultsThe area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.81 (95% CI 0.72 to 0.90) indicating that the ability of OccIDEAS to identify construction workers with an LAeq,8h≥85 dBA was excellent.ConclusionThis validated noise questionnaire may be useful in epidemiological studies and for workplace health and safety applications.

Abstract:
This research paper is entitled Standardized Certification for Indonesian Female Migrant Workers: Towards Qualified Domestic Workers. The problem of the research was derived from the fact that Indonesia is the highest sender of female migrant workers. Based on the data taken from BNP2TKI, female migrant workers from Indonesia mostly work in domestic sector as housemaids. Unfortunately, most of them are still considered unskilled. There is a quite significant difference between Philippines and Indonesia’s government policy in positioning migrant workers. The government of Philippines is very serious about preparing policy to position migrant workers by providing diplomatic protection, since they realize that the income from remittance can reach 20 %, and preparing public education policy concerning migration in the form of massive pre-departure orientation in migrant worker areas. In order for Indonesian migrant workers to compete with other workers, government is required to prepare the migrant workers to fulfill requirements and standards and prepare the agenda for strengthening legal recognition of their work as housemaids. Nusron Wahid, BNP2TKI chairperson, stated that Indonesian migrant workers need to improve their skills. This is necessarily required to change the face of Indonesian migrant workers. Skill improvement program for migrant workers is provided by Labor Training Centers that can be found in every province in Indonesia. Labor Training Center offers some programs and activities both for migrant workers and public, so they can improve their knowledge, skill and character This research focused on how migrant workers empower themselves in terms of knowledge, skill, and character building through certified programs given by Labor Training Center. The research problems can be identified as follows: (1) to what extent can the certified programs given by Labor Training Center upgrade migrant worker’s knowledge, (2) to what extent can the certified programs given by Labor Training Center increase migrant worker’s skill, and (3) to what extent can the certified programs given by Labor Training Center improve migran workers’ character. The objectives of the research are: (1) to find out the map of the knowledge development of migrant workers taking the certified programs in Labor Training Center; (2) to know the improvement of migrant workers’ skill s, and (3) to find out the improvement of migrant workers’ character s . The research used descriptive qualitative method. The data were gathered from previous research, in form of journals, documents and participant observation. From the data gathered, it was found out that the initiation programs organized by Labor Training Center was the dissemination of information about working abroad. This was aimed to give information to those who wanted to work outside Indonesia legally, securely, and appropriately, and to give information on opportunities to find some jobs overseas along with the advantages and disadvantages. This is one way to prepare Indonesian migrant workers to be ready to work outsideIndonesia. This means that migrant workers are given some knowledge to be well-prepared workers. In order to increase the skill of migrant workers, Labor Training Center offered some skill upgrading programs supported by practices. The skills are divided into: personal skill, social skill, and technology skill such as housework activities, social interaction, communication media, and many more. The aim was to improve the skill of migrant workers. As for character development, Labor Training Center offered some trainings, such as motivation, ethics, self-defense, work ethos, and personality. These are very needed to ensure migrant workers’ mental preparedness. The findings of the research showed that the knowledge of the migrant workers increased after they took part in the programs conducted by Labor Training Center. They knew that they needed to have legal contract when they worked overseas so that they could work safely, securely and appropriately. They would not be kicked out form a certain country any more. In terms of skill, the migrant worker could increase their social and technology skill to equip them to work overseas, whereas in terms of character building, the migrant workers could have positive mind and strong confidence to work overseas.

Result: Management commitment (p-value=0.001) and OHS procedure regulation (p-value=0.029) significantly affect the safety behavior implementation to the worker. Conclusion: Two Independent variables which affect the safety behavior of the building construction worker at construction service company Surabaya ware management commitment (X1) and OHS procedure regulation (X2). The regulation of OSH procedures must be communicated, promoted to workers, and supervision of workers can be increased as a form of good commitment and given support by providing rewards for workers who have implemented safe behavior properly and providing punishment for workers who conduct unsafe behavior.

Abstract:
Work climate is one of the factors whose gave big influence on the performance of human resources, for both in hot work climate and cold work climate, even the effect is not limited to performance but can go further, specifically on the safety and health of workers. For this reason, it is necessary to measure and evaluate the working climate standard. This study was conducted to determine the effect of hot working climate on the physiological response of workers in the preparation room at PT-X and to find a temperature control strategy in the preparation room at PT-X. The research were carried out in 4 steps, namely: first was collecting data on the work climate in the Preparation Room at PT-X, second was collecting data on the workload of workers in the Preparation Room at PT-X, third was collecting data on the physiological response of the worker in the form of measuring body temperature, measuring blood pressure, measuring pulse rate and measuring the weight of workers. The last step was analysis. Based on the results of the research, the hot working climate affects the physiological response of the workers before and after work. The strategy for controlling the hot working climate in the Preparation Room at PT-X is by increasing the rest time for workers, maximizing the use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) for each worker, and adding health signs at the worker's location.

Abstract:
One of the common health problems for small and medium enterprise such as batik production is work-related musculoskeletal disorder (WMSD). This health problem may contribute to long-term medical effect on the production workers. For batik stamping workers, the load of the copper block that need to be used repetitively can reach up to 2kg. This study aims to reduce WMSD effect by reducing the lifting load of the cooper block handled by the batik stamping worker. The worker’s working load is observed before the intervention process by using one of the ergonomic risk assessment tools, Rapid Upper Limb Asssessment (RULA). The ergonomic intervention designed in this study is from the engineering approach by modifying tools. It is found out that the intervention done were able to eliminate the lifting load handled by the worker to avoid discomfort or further health complication. This outcome are hoped to be able to improve workers’ health and increase batik stamping work productivity that eventually increased company’s revenue.

Abstract:
We develop a mechanism for setting discriminated reward prices in order to group crowd workers according to their abilities. Generally, a worker has a certain level of confidence in the correctness of her answers, and asking about it is useful for estimating the probability of correctness. However, we need to overcome two main obstacles to utilize confidence for inferring correct answers. One is that a worker is not always well-calibrated. Since she is sometimes over/underconfident, her confidence does not always coincide with the probability of correctness. The other is that she does not always truthfully report her confidence. Thus, we design an indirect mechanism that enables a worker to declare her confidence by choosing a desirable reward plan from the set of plans that correspond to different confidence intervals. Our mechanism ensures that choosing a plan including true confidence maximizes the worker's expected utility. We also propose a method that composes a set of plans that can achieve requester-specified accuracy in estimating the correct answer using a small number of workers. We show our experimental results using Amazon Mechanical Turk.

Abstract:
With the rapid development of Internet of things (IoT) and computer vision (CV), the application of combining the IoT platform and CV technology to monitor the worker safety has attracted more and more attention in the field of industrial information. Worker identification is a prerequisite for safety management in industrial production, and safety helmet can not only protect worker’s head from accidental injuries but also help to identify the work types of workers through different colors. Therefore, this study proposes an intelligent method for worker identification based on moving personnel detection and helmet color characteristics. First, the motion objects that contain personnel and nonpersonnel are detected by the Gaussian mixture model (GMM) and extracted to generate the region of interest (RoI) images. Then, the multiple-scale histogram of oriented gradient (MHOG) features of the RoI images are extracted, and the personnel images are identified by the support vector machine (SVM). Third, the workers’ head images are obtained by the OpenPose model and personnel mask, and the GoogLeNet-based transfer learning network is established to extract the head images features and realize worker identification. This method is tested on our dataset, and the average accuracy of worker identification for multiple helmet color combinations reaches 99.43%, which is robust to workers’ angle, scale, and occlusion.

Abstract:
This paper examines the gaps in chief executive officer (CEO) and worker compensation by exploring the vital data of 10 corporations as uncovered in a study by NerdWallet.com on the differences in hourly compensation between CEOs and average hourly workers or employees. The author examines the problem of excessive compensation for CEOs as a major organizational challenge that affects perceptions of fairness by stakeholders, especially employees or workers whose contributions to organizational performance and success are not being adequately rewarded, but instead transferred to CEOs and other executives as companies increase revenues and profits through the sweat and toil of ordinary workers. The author argues that executive compensation should be linked to organizational results and performance, and examines the standards and considerations for determining fair wage and compensation, and from examining vital data on CEO compensation and average worker compensation, explores the implications for organizational change, including consideration of quality work life (QWL) investments. Several recommendations are made for meeting the challenge of excessive CEO compensation to include the following: (1) developing new approaches or methods of compensation that take worker rewards into consideration; (2) limiting CEO or executive compensation relative to established multiple of the average worker’s wage; (3) intervention and petition from governmental and administrative agencies including workers’ rights organizations for change; and (4) more compassionate leadership and management by organizational CEO and executives with increased concern for workers’ well-being. Abstract:
Aims: Exposure to infection is a risk for all healthcare workers. This risk acquires another dimension in an outbreak of highly contagious, lethal disease, such as the Ebola epidemic in West Africa in 2014. Healthcare workers are usually well and correctly informed about the risks from such diseases, but family, neighbours, friends, or colleagues may react strongly to the risk that staff might bring infection home from an epidemic overseas. Research around such stigmatization is scarce. We wanted to investigate how common it is, which expressions it assumes and how it is influenced by dissemination of information. Methods: We interviewed a sample of Swedish healthcare workers who had worked in West Africa during the 2014 outbreak of Ebola, as well as one close contact for each of them, about reactions before leaving and after returning, and also about information received. Results and conclusions: The majority of contact persons reported no or little concern, neither when the healthcare worker revealed the plan to leave, nor on the healthcare worker’s return. The prevailing reason was trust in the judgement of ‘their’ healthcare worker, mainly using information received from the healthcare worker to assess risks, and relying little on other information channels. This means that the person assessing the risk was at the same time the hazard. There were indications that instructions regarding quarantine and self-isolation were less stringently followed by healthcare workers than by other aid workers in the outbreak, which could give confusing signals to the public. Simple, clear and non-negotiable rules should be preferred – also from an information perspective.

Abstract:
Forty-three anganwadi workers (community health workers) in Gujarat state, India, were interviewed to record their education level, evaluate their nutrition knowledge, and collect information on the number of visits made by the auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) in the preceding three months and the activities she performed for the anganwadi. The coverage of five services delivered or assisted by the anganwadi worker- supplementary feeding growth monitoring, vitamin A prophylaxis, health checkups, and immunization- was estimated by interviewing the mothers of 3,987 children 0–6 years old. The anganwadi worker's having at least a high school education, a nutrition knowledge score of more than 4 out of 7, more than one visit by the ANM in three months, and an ANM activity score of more than 2 out of 9 were significant determinants, individually or in combination, for the anganwadi worker's performance. Multiple regression analysis indicated that nutrition knowledge was the most powerful determinant of performance, followed by guidance from the ANM and education level. It is therefore concluded that anganwadi workers should receive nutrition health education and regular guidance from the ANMs, and their education level should be high school or above.

Abstract:
Introduction:Unfortunately, before SARS-CoV-2, a global workforce crisis in health care had already been flagged internationally and is only expected to grow. Health care workers are the critical driving force underpinning all health systems. A skilled workforce takes years to develop, and staff shortages have enduring negative impacts on patients, patient safety, and the ability to deliver Universal Health Coverage.Method:A scoping literature review on health care worker mortality and morbidity resulting from SARS-CoV-2 was undertaken and included reviewing the peer-reviewed and grey literature. Results:Four opportunities for improving the protection of health care workers during a pandemic were identified: 1)Strengthening data collection and reporting standards of health care worker mortality and morbidity due to SARS-CoV-22)Improving the protection of health care workers3)Accelerating the vaccination of health care workers against SARS-CoV-2, and4)Addressing gender inequities in health careThese four approaches provide opportunities for improvement and are only preliminary steps in addressing the ‘perfect storm’ that the shortage of global health care workers and the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic have created. Conclusion:The global community has a unique opportunity to protect health care workers and improve pandemic preparedness and response. The health and socioeconomic impact of SARS-CoV-2 has been unprecedented, and health care workers have borne the brunt of this pandemic. We owe our health care workers more. Without a well-trained and adequately resourced health care workforce that is prepared to face the next pandemic, we as a global community will not be able to deliver global health care or global security at the level that is required.

Abstract:
Migrant household work is a global phenomenon present across geographical contexts. Employing a household worker, especially a worker coming from another country, is a symbolically complex situation that requires interpretive work and negotiations of role-identities from interactional partners. There has been much debate about how to define the relationship between a domestic and/or care worker and her/his employer. It has been argued that the preferred definition by workers themselves is one that centers on work (Anderson 2000). In contrast, “fictive kinship” appears to be the employers’ almost universal strategy, which is usually portrayed in the literature as an exploitative practice (Romero 1992; Anderson 2000; Parreñas 2001; Constable 2003; Lan 2006; McDowell 2006). In this paper, I offer a conceptual grid that consists of hierarchy/equality and distance/intimacy dimensions to examine complex relationships between domestic workers and employers, elaborated during the case study of Polish migrant domestic workers in Naples in 2004. Within the investigated site some elements of the traditional model of service culture have persisted. Migrant workers who come from a post-communist country, and who have rather egalitarian attitudes, have been confronted with these elements. The result has been a clash of definitions over the household worker’s role. Polish women developed two contrasting ways of experiencing and coping with it. The strategies identified in the workers’ narratives are professionalization and personalization, and they refer respectively to emphasizing the professional and the personal dimensions in relations with the employer. They manifest themselves on the levels of action (as narrated by the workers) and narrative construction. The strategies on the level of action aim to shift the situation in a desired direction; the narrative strategies aim at framing the situation in a desired way within a narrative. The text underlines the diversity of migrant response and tentatively assesses the output of different strategies.
