Abstract:
Cesecom was founded by bringing together a group of scholars who are experts in the study of the several regions that are between Central Europe and Caucasus, including Central Asia. Our attention is focused on the centuries before the fall of Constantinople and the discovery of America, a fundamental period in order to understand the roots of the problems and conflicts that are still tormenting this region of the world today. CeSecom was created to meet the exigencies of scholars in order to furnish a tool for research and also provide an open space for discussions, to exchange ideas and share the outcomes of one's studies. The website will be an open resource, whose aim is to improve diverse specializations, sharing and delving in them. We hope that this initiative will meet your liking and will favor communication of our scientific work.

Abstract:
This book offers a panorama of movement, mobility, and exchange in the early modern world. While the pre-modern centuries have long been portrayed as static and self-contained, it is now acknowledged that Europe from the Middle Ages onwards saw increasing flows of people and goods. Movement also connected the continent more closely to other parts of the world. The present work challenges dominant notions of the ‘fixed,’ immobile nature of pre-modern cultures through study of the inter-connected material, social, and cultural dimensions of mobility. The case studies presented here chart the technologies and practices that both facilitated and impeded movement in diverse spheres of social activity such as communication, transport, politics, religion, medicine, and architecture. The chapters underscore the importance of the movement of people and objects through space and across distance to the dynamic economic, political, and cultural life of the early modern period.

Cillo, Rossana, and Fabio Perocco. Posted workers La condizione dei lavoratori in distacco transnazionale in Europa. Venice: Fondazione Università Ca’ Foscari, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.30687/978-88-6969-515-5.

Abstract:
The result of research carried out in several European countries, this book analyses the phenomenon of the posting of workers from an international and interdisciplinary perspective, with a particular focus on working conditions, occupational safety and health (OSH), regulatory issues, offences and violations of posted workers’ rights. The first part of the book examines the origins and evolution of the posting of workers in Europe, also in terms of legislation; the second part presents various national case studies (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland, and labour mobility from Third Countries); the third part focuses on Italy, as the European crossroads of posted work. From this richly documented examination, the posting of workers emerges as a new frontier of the devaluation of labour, which exacerbates tendencies characteristic of the transformations of labour that have taken place in recent decades on a global scale, first and foremost precariousness and social dumping. Given its profound impact on the labour market and working conditions, the posting of workers therefore opens up new challenges for the protection of workers in both receiving and sending countries.
