Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the types and the most dominant type of word formation process used in a novel entitled I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai. A qualitative descriptive is used as a research design. The data consist of words that experience word-formation process. This study analyzed words using Yule's (2006) theory. Coinage, Suppletion, Compounding, Blending, Clipping, Back-Formation, Conversion, Acronym, Derivation, and other processes were included. There are seven of nine word-formation types found from the data analyzed. The results of this study show that 633 words experience the word-formation process. Five words of coinages (0. 79%), 34 words of suppletion (5. 37%), 130 words of compounding (20. 55%), 5 words of clippings (0. 79%), 14 words of back-formations (2. 21%), 53 words of acronyms (8. 37%) and 392 words of derivations (61. 92%). The most prevalent type of word formation found is derivation. It comprises 61.92% of the general term. Derivation has 392 words out of 633 words. Keywords: word-formation process, novel, Malala

Kuandykov, who studied the problem of the word-formation nest, are considered. A mandatory element of the word–formation nest is the source word. The original word, it is commonly called the top, plays a very important role in the formation of the word-formation nest, affects its structure, the semantic relations of single-root words in the structure of the nest. It is part of all derived words, determines their meaning. To date, the vertices in the nests can be: nouns, adjectives, numerals, verbs, adverbs. The article analyzes one of the main concepts of legal discourse – the word "law" from the point of view of the word-formation nest. 43 derived words are determined, 24 of them are terms formed in the word-formation nest by synthetic, analytical, lexico-semantic methods of word formation. The identification of synchronous word-formation potential requires the determination of the volume, depth of word–formation nest. At the same time, it was found that the volume of analyzed word-formation nest and their structure depend primarily on the volume of the lexico-semantic space of the source words. The more extensive the system of meanings a word has, the more voluminous its word-formation nest. The dependence of the volume of word-formation nest on the frequency of use of their source words was also revealed. The word-formation potential of the original words is also revealed by the depth of the word-formation nest, which means the number of syntagmatic, paradigmatic units in this particular word-formation nest. Abstract:
In morphology, the formation of new words is based on the word-formation process. The word-formation process itself is the concept of how new words can be formed. Several processes underlie the formation of new words in a language. This theory is based on Yule (2010). A comprehensive analysis requires answers to questions. 1. How new words are formed in Indonesian language communication, 2. What formations are dominant in the formation of new words? Observation serves as a data collection tool. The author collects new words to determine the natural word formation conditions used in communication and to identify the process of word formation without the intervention of the researcher. Finally, they are classified according to the process of word formation. This study uses data triangulation to ensure the research obtains valid data. The first-word formation process is blending which dominates the formation of new words in Indonesian with 13 processes found. The second process that dominates is the acronym with 8 found processes. The clipping process also includes the most processes in the formation of new words with 5 processes. The creation of new words found is not only blending, acronyms and clipping but also borrowing processes with 3 processes and compounding with 1 process. Abstract:
The subject of the study in the article is the word-formation type of subjective dialect nouns that have a specific subject meaning and are formed with the suffix -k(a). The word-formation type includes words recorded on the territory of the Smolensk region from the end of the XIX century to the present. The type under consideration as an independent word-formation unit is of particular interest in the field of dialect word-formation, since the nouns included in it were formed using the suffix -k(a), which is widely used in the Russian language, while dialect adjectives clearly show all the specifics of dialect word formation proper: filling the type with nouns belonging to a variety of semantic groups; wide involvement of not only typical Russian, but also dialect words as generating bases; the special role of derived words with a complicated word-formation structure within the type. The significance of the conducted research is emphasized by a large number of derived nouns formed from adjectives and words used in Smolensk dialects as adjectives (passive participles), with one or more suffixes, i.e. located at different stages of the derivation process; this circumstance indicates the complex structure of the dialect word-formation system of Smolensk dialects

In learning a language, students must learn about linguistics and its branches to know the context of language, the origin of words and how they are formed. This study aimed to investigate word-formation by exposing Yule’s (2010) theory in students’ writing. This research focused on how many word-formations existed and how the word-formation process was applied in students’ writing. A descriptive qualitative approach was adopted to analyze the gathered data to fulfill the research objectives. The data were collected through observation. The participants in this research were 18 students of Universitas Negeri Semarang attending Academic Writing class. The findings show that the students applied 599 processes which fall under five types of word-formations. They could be categorized into blending, compounding, clipping, derivation, and inflection. The students applied less blending and clipping word-formation processes. In addition, there were some problems in applying the word-formation process. Some students were confused about how to form blending and clipping. Hopefully, this research will give significant contribution as reference in understanding word formation. The present study is expected to contribute to teaching and learning of word-based lexical studies in general and word-formations in particular.

Abstract:
The article presents a first assessment of the word-stock of “coronaspeak”-2020 — a new language of the Covid-19 pandemic. The English vocabulary is subjected to constant change due to various extralinguistic factors. The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in the ‘explosion’ of new words. As of today, “coronaspeak” has over 1,000 words with more units appearing each day. The scale of the expansion is unprecedented, which requires reaction of the linguistic community. The article raises the issue of the classification of the “coronaspeak” word-stock. It argues that facilitated by media and social networks new words are changing their status of nonce words to neologisms, which makes the classification untimely and premature. The word-building analysis of 200 new words of “coronaspeak” allows to conclude that the creation of the new “coronavirus” word-stock applies the structural patterns specific for the English language. These various patterns include semantic change in denotation, derivation, compounding, blending, shortening, The analysis of the “coranaspeak” word-stock has demonstrated that the semantic changes in denotation, in particular the extension and the narrowing of a meaning, are scarce, and, hence, non-productive. Affixation, as a word-forming process, has proved semi-productive with the predominantly noun-forming suffixes. Among a limited number of shortenings we have observed final (apocope) and initial (apheresis) clippings, combined with affixation, by adding the suffix — y. Compounding and blending have proved to be highly productive. According to the part of speech classification, most “coronaspeak” compounds and blends are nouns. Of special interest are a group of “coronapuns”, which have demonstrated pragmatic potential.

Abstract:
While there is, under the heading of “morphopragmatics”, some research on the relation of pragmatics and word-formation, especially with a focus on diminutives, the major theoretical models of word-formation do not account for the word-formation/pragmatics interface in any systematic fashion. Moreover, in recent contextualist approaches to the semantics/pragmatics interface, the typical grammatical unit referred to is the sentence (including words that constitute a sentence), but not word structure or the morpheme. Drawing on morphological data from German, I will show the influence of pragmatic processes and principles on word-formation, arguing that word structures are also units that may be semantically underdetermined and thus are in need of pragmatic enrichment. Hence morphological theories have to account for pragmatic effects, and contextualist approaches have to account for other entities beyond the ones lying on the “what is said”-“what is implicated” spectrum.

Abstract:
This paper examines the word-formation processes which are used in English slang. It does so by presenting the word-formation analysis of a sample of words selected from the online Urban Dictionary (UD). The words under investigation come from three semantic groups from the UD, specifically COLLEGE, DRUGS and FOOD. The focus is also on the comparison of the use of word-formation processes in this sample of slang words and in Standard English. The results propose an overview of the individual word-formation processes occurring in the sample. They also suggest that, to some extent, in this sample, slang uses word-formation processes in the same way as Standard English, however, in certain cases it diverges from the language’s traditional use.

Abstract:
The structural peculiarities of the railway term formation is investigated in the article. It is demonstrated that the most common ways of the one component railway term formation are suffixation and prefixation. The prefixation-suffixation type is a less productive way of the word building. Compound words proved to form a large group of the railway terms. The relations among the components of a compound word represent a specific type of semantic and structural relations of the word in a word combination, where the terms which consist of «noun+noun», «adjective+noun» predominate. In the system of the English railway terminology among the component terms the most widespread are nouns that explains that nouns define processes, equipment, devices, and objects. This paper outlines some linguistic properties of technical terms. The article focuses on some linguistic features of a term. Being a linguistic object with the common and specific features of a language system a term has all lexical-semantic and formal features of the words and word combinations of a natural language. In the process of the affixation term building the semantics of a derived word is defined by an affix that is why an affix can bear a particular word building meaning. But having definite motivational relations between a derivative and a derived word the semantics of the derived word is not always determined by the meanings of its components. Deciding the semantics of a derived term many factors should be taken into consideration: conversion, the peculiarities of a compound word, polysemy etc. It should be underlined that morphological or affixation type of the term forming is based on the principles of word building of the literary language.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the formation of slang words used by Sophia, the main character of the Girlboss TV Series. The writer conducted this study to determine the types of word formations formed in Sophia's slang words in each episode and the morphological processes involved in the creation of those slang words. Additionally, this study was carried out in a qualitative approach. The writer used the theory of word formation and morphology by Yule (2020) in her study. The findings revealed that compounding, blending, clipping, coinage, acronyms, derivation, and multiple processes were all used in the formation of slang words used by the main character in the Girlboss. Meanwhile, borrowing, backformation, hypocorism, and conversion were not found in the data analysed. Based on their respective origin words and the theory of the types of word formation processes, the slang words that appear in these 11 episodes are divided into several different types of word formation. In short, it showed that the main character of Girlboss TV series often uses slang when communicating with their peers, some of which are in the form of abbreviations, modified elements from original words, and some use new words.

Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to reveal the meaning of the terms of word-formation motivation as an important scientific component in the linguistic analysis of the study of the process of creating derivative words. The article identifies extralinguistic factors that contribute to determining the motivation of nominative units as the basis of the lexical meaning of words. The scientific novelty of the research consists in the development of a methodology for analyzing the word-formation processes of nominative units in the Kazakh language. As a result, the conditions for the formation of the internal form of words are described, which show the connection between word formation and the creation of a language picture of the world, as a factor determining the linvocultural features of the Kazakh people. The motivation of words determines the anthropocentricity of the formation of lexical units and is considered as the rationality of the relationship between the sound shell and the meaning of words. By studying the motivation of words, we can understand what meaning is the basis for this name, how much it has changed, that is, the motivation of the semantics of the word is analyzed synchronously.

Chinese language is one of the typical isolated languages. It lacks morphological variation; part of speech has no morphological signs; the additional component of word formation is less; and the roots never change their forms. The major method of Chinese word formation is the combination of roots according to certain grammatical relations. Although the affix word formation is not part of mainstream Chinese word formation, affix-formation is still an integral part of the Chinese word-formation. Article used literature review, summarized the types and meanings of Chinese affixes. And meanwhile, article analyzed word formation function of Chinese Affixes and quasi-affixes. However, there are 20 messaging applications that cannot be classified into the type of word formation such as Path, Line, Lemon, etc. They are simple words that have already existed in English and have been used in everyday communication. Meanwhile, nowadays they are used as a name of messaging applications and have different meanings as the real meaning. The suffixes used in the affixation process are –er, -ous, -ster. There are 6 formations of compounding used in the messaging application such as N+N, V+V, N+V, V+N, Adv. + Prep. There are 3 ways of blending process such as taking the whole part of the first word and taking the first syllable of the second, taking the first syllable of the first word and taking the whole part of the second word, taking two syllables from the front part of the first word and taking the last syllable of the second word. Coinage consists of the name of the company and the name of the product. There are two types of clipping found namely fore-clipping and back-clipping. Reduplication happens when there is a copying of the partial part of the word. Apparently, there are morphological processes used in life such as word formation to name the messaging application.

Abstract:
The present study investigates strategies for translating word formation in Ulysses (1922) by James Joyce. The study also identifies the translation strategies used by an Arabic translator to render neologisms in the novel into the target language. The study draws on the Venuti model of translation. Applying the Venuti model to the translations of word formations into Arabic will test their adequacy. Different new words resulting from the word formation process were used in the selected data. The findings show that these new words were translated into Arabic using different strategies. The Arabic translator used literal translation in many cases of word formation due to the lack of similar equivalent words in the target language. The study shows that the Arabic translator tries to imitate Joyce by coining words in Arabic. The study should be continued in further analyses that use other data to prove that the Venuti model is not sufficient for translating this type of literary text

Abstract:
With the rapid development of Japanese information processing technology, problems such as polysemy and ambiguity at the text and dialogue level, as well as unregistered words, have become increasingly prominent because computers cannot fully “understand” the semantics of words. How to make the computer “understand” the semantics of words accurately requires the computer to “understand” the rules of converting and integrating words into words from the perspective of semantics. Traditional Japanese text classification mostly adopts the text representation method of vector space model, which has the problem of confusing classification effect. Therefore, this paper proposes the topic of constructing a semantic word formation pattern prediction model based on a large-scale annotated corpus. This paper proposes a solution that combines Japanese semantic word formation rules with pattern recognition algorithms. Aiming at this scheme, a variety of pattern recognition algorithms were compared and analyzed, and the naive Bayesian model was decided to predict semantic word formation patterns. This paper further improves the accuracy of computer prediction of Japanese semantic word formation patterns by adding part of speech. Before modeling, the parts of speech of words are automatically tagged and manually checked based on the original annotated corpus. In the research on predicting Japanese semantic word formation patterns, this paper builds a semantic word formation pattern prediction model based on Naive Bayes and conducts simulation experiments. We divide the eight types of semantic word formation patterns in the annotated corpus into two groups, and divide the obtained sample sets into training sets and test sets, so that the Naive Bayes model first learns semantic word formation rules based on the training sets of each group. Semantic word formation patterns are predicted on the test set for each group. The simulation results show that the prediction model of semantic word formation mode has a generally high degree of fit and prediction accuracy. The prediction model of semantic word formation pattern based on this theory can ensure that the computer can judge the semantic word formation pattern more accurately.

Abstract:
The paper focusestwo word-formation models, functioning into the system of Slavic dialect derivation of nouns: 1) -da, -anda, -enda, -inda, -onda, -unda, -ynda; 2) -ом(а), -омля (mainly attested in the East Slavic area). Ironically, these suffixing word-formation models traditionally are ignored by authors of studies, dedicated to the derivation of nouns in Slavic dialect speech. Perhaps, above-mentioned formatives were not classified as separate means of derivation for a reason of including words with these suffixes in the category of expressive lexemes (such words are characterized by phonetic transformations resulting in the deviation of word-building structure, «mutation» of the end of the word). The author explains genesis of both series suffixes as morphologization of phonetic phenomena, which, have going beyond dialect sound processes, became separate word-building means. With regards to some derivatives with -ом(а) is stressed, that it is the difficulty to distinguish cases, where -ом(а) shows clipping of mentioned suffix, and examples of ancient superlatives containing suffix -m- or adjectives, derived by means of participle suffix -om- involved into the system of desubstantive word-formation.

Abstract:
This study is to analyzes the type of word formation process of terms in online shops. This research used descriptive qualitative. The result of the analysis shows four types of word formation process in online shops, namely derivation, compounding, clipping, and acronym. The derivation is the process of forming words by giving affixes to the word, so results in new word formation causes a change in word-class and its meaning. The examples of suffix are -er, -or, -al, -ment, -ed, –ing” in the words “Seller, Buyer, Supplier, Retailer, Counter, Hanger, Customer, Testimonial, Endorsement, Payment, Booked, Trusted, Shipping, Booking, Packaging”. The examples of the prefix is re- in the words “Return, Refund, Restock, Refurbish”. Compounding is the process of forming words by combining two or more classes of words into a new form such as in the words “Handmade, Dropship, Download, Upload, Cashback, Online, Offline, Stockroom, Showroom, Giveaway, Fullset, Checkout”. Clipping is the process of forming words by cutting parts of the word itself or forming words from words that have more than one syllable that gets the word cutting process at the beginning or end such as in the words “Advertisement (Ad), Original (Ori), Brother (Bro), Sister (Sist)”. The acronym is the process of formation by taking from the initial letter in each syllable arranged to mention the abbreviation or extension of a term, so the result can be pronounced as a word. For example in the words “COD (Cash on Delivery), PO (Pre Order), DP (Down Payment), FP (Full Payment), PL (Price List), (PM) Private Message, IDR (Indonesian Rupiahs), WTB (Want to Buy), WTS (Want to Sell), WS (WholeSale), ATC (Add to Chart), RC (Recommended Seller).

The main goal of the paper is to analyze and evaluate the nature and the role of word-formation systems in a sample of 73 European languages. The basis for the comparison is 100 word-formation features representing 12 word-formation processes. The data is used to examine (a) the structural richness of word-formation systems at the level of individual languages, language genera, families and the linguistic area of Europe, and (b) the parameter of Maximum Feature Occurrence that identifies those word-formation features that are present in all languages under consideration, i.e., in all languages of a genus, a family or a linguistic area of Europe. In the latter case, it identifies the so-called Euroversals. From the diachronic perspective, the paper evaluates the degree of diversification of languages belonging to the same language genus and language family.

AbstractBrdar and Brdar-Szabó (this volume) offer a critique of Janda (2011). Janda (2011) found that the same cognitive strategy that facilitates metonymy, namely use of a conceptual source to access a target, can also be invoked in many patterns of affixal word-formation. In other words, many cases of word-formation appear to be motivated by metonymic association. Brdar and Brdar-Szabó claim that it is incorrect to refer to word-formational processes as metonymies. In addition to the robust parallels evidenced in my data, I offer three arguments to defend my use of the term “metonymy”: (1) a broader definition of metonymy facilitates more insightful generalizations; (2) there is no fixed boundary between lexical metonymy and word-formational metonymy since they coexist in the lexicon-grammar continuum; and (3) context, whether it be a suffix or other cues, is always a factor in metonymy.

Abstract:
The article proposes to consider the cognitive aspect of the word semantics of derivatives with a mutational type of derivation in the intra-numerical word formation. The analysis is implemented by involving a propositional-semantic frame method that promotes cognitive modeling of derivatives of seven word-forming meanings, taking into account the hierarchy of frame structures (frame→ subframe → slot → three-element propositional scheme → three-component specific proposition). The presence of a significant action as one of the three constituents of the deep level of language, namely its core, is justified. The central predicate is inherent in derivatives with a mutational type of derivation, which are based on an event proposition. The thematic filling of word meanings of cognitive content is established, as well as verbalized slots, by which we understand the motivational seme of each lexical-semantic variant of the non-derived vertex numeral. It has been found that word meanings can be grouped based on mental slots or function based on a common theme. Additionally, their verbal manifestations have been identified. The word semantics of derivatives with a mutational type of derivation can be characterized by semantic increments, which are set within each lexical meaning, as well as increments at the level of propositions, namely left and right-sided actors and the predicate component. For the first time in Ukrainian studies, the emphasis has shifted from the description of frame structures represented by word nests to a word value that is established according to the onomasiological principle (taking into account the distinction of the functional-semantic category of quantity from the word semantics). This approach will facilitate a comprehensive description of word semantics, complementing the achievements of derivatology with cognitive discovery. As a result of this work, the actant components of propositions, represented by quantitative content, have been typologized. This enables the establishment of the cognitive aspect of word-formation semantics in derivatives derived from numerals. The prospects of this research also include data computerization, which will facilitate searching for words based on queries such as “frame”, “cognitive slot”, “verbalized slot”, “propositional scheme”, “proposition”, and “word-forming meaning”.

Abstract Studies in word-formation in English are common compared to the study of new words that are formed by combining the resources of two linguistic systems. Although new word formations within a language are considered to be highly creative, combining words from two different languages provides another level of creativity to bilinguals in different situations. The objective of this paper is to examine the main types of word creation processes employed in mass media texts, particularly in Hindi-English code-mixed words. The focus is on three main processes of word creation: affixation, blending and compounding (including reduplication) and they are discussed from the perspective of productivity/creativity, distribution and underlying motivations. These processes seem to be illustrative of the nativization of inner circle English in India, particularly in mass media where such lexical adaptations lend texts a distinct flavor through innovation in word-formation.

Abstract:
The development of language is largely due to the development of its word-forming system, the formation of new word-forming models, changing existing ones, increasing or decreasing their productivity and many other factors of the word-forming process. In addition to phrases, telescopes, and word formation, American phraseology includes acronyms and affixes. Metaphors and metonymy are used to create innovative American phraseology. Metaphor is a necessary means of expression in language because it is inherent in human thinking and language. Metaphor is a powerful means of expressing symbolic meanings. The uniqueness of metaphorical transfers lies in the possibility of creating features that have no analogues in the system of means of direct nomination. The image-analytical structure of the metaphor allows to convey the meaning of any degree of complexity and semantic configuration. Metaphor arises in the assimilation of one phenomenon to another on the basis of semantic similarity of states, properties and actions that characterize these phenomena. From a formal point of view, metaphorical transfer is the use of a word (phrase, sentence) intended to denote certain objects (situations). Innovative American phraseology is dominated by phrases and their number is 148. New phraseology is the predominant trend in the process of creating new words, telescope 35, word formation also occupies an important place word formation and has 25. In the process of word formation of new words affixation of 11 words is also used, abbreviation 2 words and abbreviations 2. In summary, the main way to create new words in innovative American phraseology in economics and business is new phraseology, which we believe will be the leading way to create innovative American phraseology in the next decade, pushing telescopes to second place. Phrases are the leading way to create innovative American phrases in economics and business, and word formation and telescope are not left out. Analyzing phraseology in this area by semantic analysis, metaphor is most often observed, followed by irony and metonymy. In our opinion, it is advisable to determine in which areas it is formed, to analyze its features.

Abstract:
In the history of linguistics, the problem of word change and word formation is always closely intertwined. Vocabulary in Kazakh linguistics began in the 1990s. In general, the problem of vocabulary is directly related to the function of language. The issue here is grammatical regularities. On the basis of verbal facts related to morphology, the concepts of linguistics "word-change", "word-formation", "personality" were born. Word formation, like other language systems, is a set of linguistic approaches, which are mainly used to create a new phoneme, to create a new meaning from an existing meaning in a lexical unit. Vocabulary is used not as a word-former, but as a set of language techniques to create new words. Auxiliaries are persons and words whose lexical meaning is weakened or lost, who do not have independence, but are pronounced only with the main words and serve as auxiliary. In the system of word change and word formation in new word formation or word change, there must be structural units that are compatible with their lexical or grammatical meanings. Such units are grammatical entities and categories. Scientific abstractions in the language system, such as "word-formation category", "word-formation" person, "grammatical category", "grammatical person" correspond. It is known that there are two main methods of expression, one is a synthetic approach, the other is an analytical approach. The synthetic approach includes simple vocabularies created with the help of various lexical applications. The analytical approach includes auxiliary words formed by various auxiliary morphemes. And the problem of vocabulary is considered mainly from the morphological point of view, that is, from the point of view of the peculiarities of vocabulary. The article considers word change and word formation as a set of morphemes of the language mechanism, as a system of grammatical indicators, i.e at the level of units that enrich the vocabulary, not at the structural level of morphology, vocabulary as a set of language techniques is used to create new words.

Both language systems, spoken Slovene and Slovene Sign Language, are composed of basic word formation or sign formation elements, which act as cornerstones for compounded words and signs. The formation of new words in Slovene language is realised by adding suffixes after the base or stem of a word, linking together two or more bases with infixes, or adding prefixes before the base or stem of a word. To express these word formation types, sign formation adopts visual elements: facial expression, hand- and finger shape, signing speed, signing orientation and signing space.

The word-formation theory is often avoided in English language course books and little research is conducted on the pedagogical status of word-building process. However, many researchers and lecturers have realized the effect of teaching word-formation theory in English languages course books. English language lecturers have noted that vocabulary is very important in various subjects of English language branch curricula. For this reason, we must admit that the processes of word-formation, through which every language vocabulary can be enriched, are very important in English language teaching and learning. Word formation components such as prefixes, suffixes, etymology, history of words and other required materials in composing the vocabulary of English language are tested in Aleksandër Moisiu University. The results have revealed a significant and successful effect of teaching Word formation theory, this way showing the colossal importance of this important language aspect in every English language edition course book. Abstract:
Word formation is a branch of linguistics in which the ways of forming words of a language are studied. By studying word formation, one can understand the means of enriching the language as a whole. After all, the language we speak is constantly changing, everything that happens in society is reflected in the language through new words and word meanings, and the main source of the appearance of new words in the language is word formation. This article is devoted to the study of word-formation models in the English language. The article contains information about the main word-formation models in the English language, their problems, features and classifications. In addition, this article discusses a new vocabulary, which is constantly replenished by all modern languages due to the intensive development of all spheres of human activity. In this case, English is no exception, and among the many sources that fix neologisms in this language. The focus is on the aspect of word formation of neologisms, namely all the traditional ways: affixation, word composition, reduction and conversion. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that the word composition occupies the first place in productivity, reduction – in the second, affixation – in the third, conversion – in the last. This means that word composition has not lost its leading positions, and affixation and conversion have become less common. It is interesting to note the continued productivity of the following word composition and conversion models. In affixation, prefixes of Latin origin were the most frequent, as well as such suffixes. Also, this article is an analysis of the main scientific concepts that reveal the essence of the theory of word formation: its place in the language system. The area of controversial issues concerning the morpheme as the main unit of word formation is outlined. The author focuses on a comprehensive approach to the theory of word formation in projection on the practice of word analysis.

Language changes over time due to social and cultural factors. These changes are evident through language varieties such as standard and non-standard languages, dialects, accents, and registers. This research focuses on one type of language variation, namely slang. Slang words show that language is constantly changing. For example, there are many new slang words that emerge and old ones that are no longer used or replaced. Slang also reflects people’s creativity because through slang we can see how someone can be very creative in making new words or modifying existing words. This research aims to identify the slang words that appear in the comments section of the TikTok during June to December 2022 and analyze the word formation process of each slang found. The authors used the qualitative descriptive method in order to present the data thoroughly. This study found that there were 39 slang words that appeared repeatedly and there were six most common word formation processes found in TikTok comments, namely blending, clipping, borrowing, acronym, affixation, and multiple processes. The most frequent processes are blending and clipping. The least frequent word formation processes are affixation and borrowing.

Abstract:
This paper examines the processes of word-formation in English on the Internet. More specifically, the present paper provides an overview of newly formed words in the context of Internet communication, their categorisation, coupled with analysis and discussion with a view to determining which (if any) word formation processes have been employed in the process of their creation. The paper attempts to capture the current trends of the English language used in popular areas of Internet interactions. The theoretical preliminaries have been divided into two distinct parts - the first half which presents general notions related to internet communication while in the second one the theory behind word-formation processes is presented in order to enable its application to the corpus originating from Internet data used in this study. As for the corpus and methodology in the study, the selected terms and expressions were extracted from various online sources (forum posts, chat logs or game screenshots) and analysed in order to determine which word-formation process they belong to. Hence the sections on abbreviations and acronyms, clips, conversions, compounds and blends, as the most productive word formation processes observed in the study. The study also looks at the popular notions of blog and tweet, as well as a particular focus on leetspeak which deals with words falling into this category but are formed via many different processes. The final section of the paper provides a summary of the findings and a conclusion to the inquiry into the nature of word-formation on the internet.

Abstract:
This study aims at finding the types of word-formation processes in online advertisements and analyzing how those types are used. The data source was obtained from the official shampoo advertising websites and YouTube during 2020. It used a descriptive qualitative method by applying the theory of word ordering proposed by several linguistic experts namely O'Grady and Guzman (1996), and Hatch and Brown (1995). From the analysis conducted, the researcher found 9 out of 12 existing word ordering processes including compounding, borrowing, initialization, clipping, back-formation, inflection, derivation, and clitization. Among all, the words found within the scope are words formed through the process of compounding, derivation, and borrowing. However, the words formed through the process of coinage, acronyms, and onomatopoeia were not found. In addition, the results of the analysis also showed that the words used in the advertisements are catchy and serve to explain the description and the function of the products. The Role of Conversion in Word-formation of Modern English Summary Conversion is considered a productive method in Modern English as one of the methods of word-formation. Due to the simplicity of its structure, new word-formation rules and patterns conversion is gradually replacing traditional word-building methods. Conversion exists in many European languages, but is more common in English due to its analytical structure and lack of morphological indicators of parts of speech. Abstract:
The study of English and Lithuanian non-affixal deverbal nouns shows that conversion in English and inflectional derivation in Lithuanian are two different ways of word-formation. The creation of a word through conversion involves the formation of a new word stem without using any formal means within the word, the inflection having the only function – that of distinguishing between different words and forms. In Lithuanian a new word may be coined through change of the paradigm, one and the same stem being used for the formation of categorically different words.
