Abstract:
Violence against wives is the most common form of violence against women reported in Indonesia. Understanding the definition of violence against wives is one of first steps to address the problem given that recognition about what constitutes violent behaviors has an influence on how society responds to victims and perpetrators. The study described and examined factors associated with the attitudes of Muslim undergraduate social welfare students toward definitions of violence against wives using socio-demographic and socio-cultural perspectives. Samples were selected non-randomly using convenience sampling techniques. Data were collected through a self-administered survey taken by 275 students in the social welfare department of two separate universities located in the provinces of Yogyakarta and East Java late 2016. Data was analyzed using hierarchical regressions techniques. The study found that students generally reported stronger agreement to viewing physical violence as a form of violence against wives. On the contrary, they were less likely to view non-physical violence as violent behavior. Gender, attitudes toward gender roles, and type of university were found to be associated with attitudes toward the definition of violence against wives. Implications from the findings were discussed, taking into account the roles of educational institutions in shaping the students’ attitudes.

There is no significant correlation between the relationship from perpetrator and the victim on acts of sexual violence, with a very weak correlation strength and the direction of the correlation being in the same direction. Conclusions: Although the results of this study show a weak correlation between the proximity of perpetrators and victims of sexual violence, the risk of sexual violence can occur to anyone regardless of gender and perpetrators can come from anywhere.

<p>This research was conducted in Morodemak and Purworejo Villages, Demak District, Central Java Province, Indonesia, by focusing on problems faced by fisherwomen—those who go out to sea as well as those who process fishing catch—and the activism of Puspita Bahari (fisherwomen organization in Demak). This research aims to show that women have contributed to the economic progress of coastal communities. Additionally, this research became a personal project as the researchers had the opportunity to directly observe the activities of fisherwomen who go out to sea. Furthermore, in the research process, the researchers participated in the advocacy process to help fisherwomen gain recognition for the work they do. By using Naila Kabeer’s gender analysis, this research found that the complexity of the problems faced by fisherwomen are truly layered and involve the family, community and market. Division of labor, biased bureaucracy and domestic violence are the three main topics studied in this paper. It’s urgent to recognize fisherwomen, as this recognition would be the first step that must be taken in order to improve the lives of fisherwomen. </p>

Abstract:
One of the violations of human rights is violence experienced by women, where women are placed in a weak and vulnerable position with violence in terms of physical, psychological, economic and sexual violence. This violence results in women often undergoing unfavorable treatment and results in prolonged trauma due to acts carried out by men as holders of power and superior in life, as well as dominating both in the household, the economy and also politics. The existence of patriarchal culture which has existed for a long time and assumes that women indeed in their nature must serve their husbands and as successors to offspring result in women being unable to do anything, especially if coupled with the community's assumption that a woman as a weak person not required get an education which is high because it is labeled as a weak human being and this is what causes men to increasingly dominate the superior or power of women. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of patriarchal culture to violence experienced by women and efforts to combat violence caused by patriarchal culture. Method This study was conducted with normative research by examining the literature and legislation relating to the problem under study. The result is that a culture of patriarchy dominates the superiority of men to rule where woman can rule in life its aspects.

People in West Java uphold harmony and peace as an important part of their worldview. Yet, violence against women continues to occur, including in rural areas. This qualitative research using a case study design was conducted to explore and describe the cases of violence against women and the factors contributing to the case in Desa Selaras, a small village in rural West Java. The data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with female violence survivors and NGO activists who assist them; as well as archival and literature studies. The findings of this research suggest the various types of violence against women, such as psychological violence (polygamy), physical violence (persecution), economic violence (economic exploitation and financial neglect), and sexual violence. Among the factors contributing to the violence in the village were gender inequality, financial problems, lack of knowledge and passive attitudes towards violence among the survivors, cultural values about women, lack of communication in the family, and male personality.

In one year P2TP2A can handle more than 100 cases. that number could be more because until now there are still many victims of domestic violence who do not dare to report. This is a concern of the community and the regional government of West Java, so the problem is how to protect victims of domestic violence in Garut. This writing study uses literature studies that emphasize data collection through searching / reviewing books related to research. The data analysis method used is a descriptive-analytical method by collecting and compiling data, then analysis and interpretation of the data are sought. Abstract:
Even though Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning on the Elimination of Domestic Violence was promulgated fifteen years ago, the number of domestic violence against women has not significantly decreased. The Law has not set concrete actions that may fall under the domestic violence that can be punished, particularly in terms of sexual abuse psychological violence, and negligence in household towards women. This research aims to analyze domestic violence against women in this Law and the conducts that are considered to be domestic violence which is commonly found in daily life in Indonesia. A purely qualitative research method encompassing document analysis of key documents in Indonesia and the Anti-Domestic Violence Law 2004 is adopted in this paper. The research reveals that This Law is particularly protecting women from household violence in Indonesia. The law has recognized physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and negligence as sorts of domestic violence against women in household although it might find difficult to enforce the law when dealing with marital rape regarding lack of reports from victims and polygamy concerning circumstances that can be used to criminalize the perpetrators.

Abstract:
This study examines sexual exploitation and violence against prostituted children in East Java, Indonesia. Children who are involved in the commercial sex industry are generally prone to become victims of exploitation, violent acts, and other child abuse. This case study employs a qualitative research method to examine the various hardships experienced by prostituted children in East Java, Indonesia. The researchers interviewed ten prostituted children, seven “grey chickens” (female high school students doubling as prostituted children), eight former prostituted children, five pimps, eight procurers, and seven male customers in Surabaya City and Pasuruan Regency. This study found that, in the Indonesian commercial sex industry, prostituted children generally experience severe exploitation and violent acts. The children’s struggle to survive in the Indonesian prostitution business is a challenging condition because of their weak bargaining position: their subordinate status in the Indonesian patriarchal ideology, their weak position as children confronting adults, as well as their low socioeconomic position. The efforts to make policies to prevent exploitation and violence against prostituted children by the government and non-government agencies thus should take into account the conditions of the prostituted children as well as the driving factors for the child prostitution business that takes place in Indonesia.

Abstract:
Rapid development of science and technology has become an indicator of disruption era in which innovation and fundamental changes happens. Amidst COVID-19 pandemic enforced the government to limit social mobility and shift all offline activities to online since early 2020 and bring impact in escalating people's access to cyberspace. One of the logical implication is increasing cases of online gender-based violence towards Indonesian women. Referring to definition by the Broadband Commission for Digital Development, online gender-based violence is a technology-facilitated act of gender-based discriminative violence towards certain person and causing traumatic effects. The Annual Record of Violence Against Women issued by Indonesia’s National Commission on Violence Against Women in 2021 stated that the online gender-based violence rise significantly to 699 cases or up to 300% in the past 2 years (2019 until 2020). Based upon this urgency hence formulated a research comprise of: (1) The dynamics of violence against Indonesian women during the COVID-19; (2) Analysis and evaluation of RUU PKS and UU ITE as the legal basis to protect women as victims of online gender-based violence; (3) Optimization of the institution in protection for women as victims of online gender-based violence during pandemic. This research uses normative juridical method with literature study approach. The results are several weaknesses still founded in Indonesia’s legal instruments, especially in UU ITE as Indonesia’s Cyber Law to overcome online gender-based violence. However, RUU PKS will be useful when legalized. As for the existence of legal protection supporting institutions, still needs to be optimized.

AbstractThe phenomenon of violence against women is a pandemic. There are many studies on violence but studies focusing on governance are rare. Governance involves various stakeholders with different roles so that they often face problems of coordination, integration, and synchronization. This problem also occurs in East Java. As a leading sector in handling victims of violence against women and children, the Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection and Population (DP3AK) of East Java Province faces challenges in the form of effective models in handling victims of violence. Meanwhile, cases of violence against women and children are very high. DP3AK requires a digital governance model in handling victims of violence more effectively on a stakeholder basis. This study offers a solution in the form of a digital platform that is able to connect victims with stakeholders. Keywords: digitalization, governance, violence against women and children, stakeholdersAbstrakFenomena kekerasan terhadap perempuan bersifat pandemik. Violence against women does not only mean physical violence. It is broader and includes sexual, emotional, psychological and financial issues. In fact, in real life women make a lot of positive contributions so that the terms women entrepreneurs, smart women, heroines, and so on are known. Finally, women are still considered and valued negatively in meaning. Moreover, with the patriarchal culture that dominates in Indonesia, women are often the object of violence and complement the sufferers of men. This study used the method of normative. It is called juridical-normative because this paper was aimed to explore the principles of law to solve the problems that would be studied in this paper. The data used was secondary data, in the form of an inventory of positive legal norms in force in Indonesia governing the civil rights of illegitimate children and children's rights. The data was analyzed using qualitative analysis.

Abstract:
Domestic Violence, particularly against women is a social phenomenon which tends to increase from year to year and even from day to day. Many countries enacted special legislation to protect women from domestic violence based on the United Nation Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEDAW). Indonesia adopted the conventions based on the Indonesian Act No. 7 of 1984 on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, and issued Presidential Decree No. 9 of 1998 concerning the Commission on Violence against Women. Indonesia then enacted special legislation on domestic violence in 2004, namely Domestic Violence Act 23, 2004. This paper aims to understand how the Domestic Violence Act 23, 2004 protects women victims of domestic violence. The sources of law study are the basic rules and regulations, international conventions which have binding force legally. This is a library research using normative judicial approach, and the analysis is descriptive qualitative. The legal protection of women victims of domestic violence is an obligation, especially for countries that uphold human rights, because of the domestic violence constitutes crimes against humanity that are outstanding. This crime happens at any time either known or not, so it is described as an iceberg phenomenon. In addition, because this matter is private, many people do not want to intervene the matter. The strong culture of not interfering ones’ affairs also influences the police in law enforcement. Police often gives less respect for the report of the victims, and even ask the victims to go back to her husband or family

Abstract:
The increasing number of violence against women every year raises question about the effectiveness of intergrated service programs for the women victims of violence. The government established the Integrated Service Center for Women and Children Empowerment (P2TP2A) in 2002 supported by National Commission on Violence against Women (KOMNAS Perempuan) in the effort to provide protection and empowerment of women victims of violence. However, the increasingly diverse forms of violence against women have resulted in complex needs of the victims. The question arises whether the function and performance role of P2TP2A has fully answered the needs of victims or not. This article focuses on assessments conducted by KOMNAS Perempuan and Forum Pengada Layanan (FPL) in 16 provinces to re-examine the role of P2TP2A's functions and performance in meeting the needs of victims. Based on the findings of the assessment, there are still shortcomings in the system and performance of P2TP2A in providing victims’ needs, such as lack of awareness as service providers, coordination problems among institutions and limited budget. This assessment uses in-depth interviews and document studies, by including the lessons from the P2TP2A Surakarta city, Bandung district and Central Java Province.

Abstract:
Abstract—The coronavirus has fully motivated a number of regions in Indonesia to implement Large-Scale General Restrictions (PSBB). This policy may be the right solution. However, it also brings with it a recent dilemma embracing women. PSBB has influenced individuals to limit their physical mobility and move them to use high dependence on technology platforms including the web or social media. The intensity and repetition of social media use leads to online aggression compared to the case of women. The Jakarta Women's Legal Aid Institute noted that there were 30 cases of online violence against women in Indonesia in March and April 2020. Unfortunately, this number continues to increase from year to year. Many forms of online sex-based violence exist and most of them aim to intimidate, humiliate, and dominate women. Some of them are online sexual harassment, fear of sharing personal content with exploitation themes, dating violence, and online extortion. Surprisingly, not all women in Indonesia understand and report these forms of violence to the National Commission for the Protection of Women or related agencies due to the lack of information and socialization from local governments during the pandemic. As a result, this issue marks a long list of solutions involving governments and the private sector to make online violence worse. This paper will explicitly show the importance of eradicating online violence against women during the Coronavirus in Indonesia. Courage to speak is needed. Community support to exercise their right to vote is very important to voice positive things and stop violence against women. Keywords: covid-19,gender, Indonesia, online violence, woman Abstrak—Virus corona telah mendorong sejumlah daerah di Indonesia untuk menerapkan Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar (PSBB). Abstract:
In this article, the author examines sexual violence against women during a period of mass social conflict and reflects on how this violence continues to affect sexual and political citizenship in modern Indonesia. The demonization and destruction of a particular group of Communist women, known as ‘Gerwani’, during the mass killings of 1965–1966 created an on-going, pathological discourse about politically active women as gendered and sexual ‘others’ in Indonesia. The reconfiguration of bodies through sexual violence during that period continues to shape gender ideology and sexual politics in Indonesia, particularly through the prescription of more traditional, heteronormative roles for women’s political participation. This negative association with sexuality and sexual violence affects the possibilities for women’s active citizenship in post-New Order Indonesia, and renders it difficult for women to claim sexual autonomy or sexual citizenship.

Abstract:
The National women's commission 2020 Annual Notes noted a new type of violence against gender, namely cyber-based or online gender violence. These cases of violence have continued to increase over the past six years, an increase of 300% in Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV) compared to the 2019. The OGBV case was found on various popular social media platforms. The most common incidents occurred on Facebook, where 39% of women experienced harassment. This figure is then followed by Instagram (23%), Whatsapp (14%), Snapchat (10%), Twitter (9%), and TikTok (6%). This study uses a quantitative approach. The data collection technique used was the survey data collection technique with the self-administered questionnaire method. The number of respondents are 109 respondents. The result of this study is that online gender-based violence is influenced by two factors, namely regulatory factors that are still unable to protect women in social media and social factors that have been cultured. There is a perspective that views women as having a weaker position than men. These two factors are the most significant in promoting online gender-based violence in Indonesia. Based on this study's results, the authors recommend the government immediately issue regulations regulating violence against women, especially violence in online media.

Reconciliation often becomes a superficial term when dealing with cases of violence against women. In several cultures in Indonesia, it is common for reconciliation to be reduced to a retributive process. It has not yet developed according to restorative justice based on women victims. To attain justice, the concept of reconciliation based on the Bible, secular law in Indonesia, and traditional customs need to be reconsidered. This article aims to conduct a critical analysis in cases of violence against women and to offer reconciliation from the perspective of a feminist mission where women victims are the basis. Reconciliation as a mission is based on God’s mission, which invites the participation of the Church through its calling in the world where cases of violence are rampant. Abstract:
The social distancing appeal that the government encourages is not matched by the state's efforts to provide economic security to the community. PSBB will directly or indirectly limit the movement of the community. The teaching and learning process at schools and residents who work will be limited to working or studying at home. This limitation of activities in public spaces will have an impact on people's income, especially those in the middle to lower economy. The implementation of social distancing during the Covid-19 outbreak has increased the risk of violence against women, complicates women's economic conditions, and affirms women's social status as subordinate, or women are in a lower position than men. The formulation of the problem in this research is what is the cause of domestic violence during the covid-19 period in Indonesia, what are the prevention efforts against domestic violence during the covid-19 period. Causes of Domestic Violence During the Covid-19 Period, namely the government's appeal to the community 'at home alone', causing a separate polemic for women and children, especially those who experience economic and psychological pressure at home from extraordinary isolation measures, has prompted increasing instances of reports of domestic violence, especially women who are forced to live for months in abusive relationships. causes and consequences of violence and to prevent the occurrence of violence through primary prevention programs, policy intervention and advocacy as well as information programs and supporting initiatives through all mass media TV, social networks, cell phones.

Abstract:
The movements carried out by women for gender justice and the elimination of violence against women in Indonesia have not only changed women's perspective on efforts to fight women against the violence that occurred to them but have also inspired some men and produced new perspectives. Seeing themselves and growing new awareness about their need to be actively involved in the movement against violence against women. This study uses a qualitative method with a literacy study approach regarding men's involvement in gender equality efforts, using the theory of hegemonic masculinity. Hegemonic masculinity is used to criticize the male sex role. Sources of data used are secondary data, such as scientific articles, reference books, journal publications, websites, and other sources relevant to the topic of study. Furthermore, data were collected, grouped, analyzed, and interpreted using the perspective of gender and feminism to describe results and research discussions. This paper tries to explain that gender inequality or even violence against women is difficult to fight if there is no collaboration from various parties, one of which is men; men are at the root of the problem of violence against women, so they must also be part of solving the problem.

Abstract:
Trafficking was initially associated with prostitution but, infact, it includes some other exploitations and slavery. Human trafficking keeps growing and its farm and complexity are changing from time to time_the only persistent thing is its characteristic of human exploitation. It is illegal activity and is against human rights: it is against the rights of its victims, which include women, children and worker. Trafficking is vulnerable to the emergence of violence against human beings, unwanted pregnancy, and sexually transmitted (STD) and infectious diseases. The networks of trafficking are currently well organized and, therefore, it demands a more serious and global attention to deal with the issue. Each country, including Indonesia, has to rethink about its system of law to be able to prosecute the traffickers and help the victims, both materially and immaterially. Some countries have ratified and implemented the anti-trafficking law. In Indonesia, however, the law is presently neither ratified nor implemented yet. The government of Indonesia, nonetheless, proclaimed the national action plan for the elimination of trafficking in women and children and made RUU (draft of laws) on anti, trafficking. So many women and children in Indonesia are waiting for the law that liberates them from any violence or exploitation and enables them to enjoy freedom of life. This draft, therefore, has to be immediately ratified.

Indonesia is one of the countries that has ratified the Declaration on the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and follow up with the issuance of various laws and implementing regulations. Even though Indonesia has ratified the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women and has published various legal instruments for the protection of women, referring to the results of the 2018 National Commission on Violence Against Women there were 348,446 cases of Violence Against Women, of which 3,528 cases occurred in the public sphere and 2,670 cases of violence in the form of sexual violence. Based on these problems, a study was conducted to find out how people's perceptions of women's body autonomy and other forms of sexual violence in public spaces were experienced by women. Theoretical understanding is expected to be used as a basis for legal reform to be more effective in protecting women from sexual violence in the public sphere. This research is legal research with a social science approach. With empirical research, the method used is a qualitative research method by conducting structured interviews with women and in-depth interviews with police officers. The analysis technique that will be used is descriptive qualitative. From the results of the study obtained data, that sexual violence is caused by the unequal power relations between men and women resulting in the view of women as other people. Women do not have autonomy over their bodies. The female body is only used as an object of sexual attraction for men. The dominance of masculinity does not only manifest in the form of violence, but also the norms and rules of law. Legal norms and rules are more nuanced masculine that is not sensitive to the existence of women. There is a need for existing legal reforms to show the real form of gender equality.

Today, women and girls are less likely to undergo female genital mutilation (FGM) than decades ago. However, the practice is still near-universal in some countries. FGM is still practiced because societies still hold their traditional values and norms. According to UNICEF, at least 200 million women and girls have been subjected to the practice in 30 countries, mainly those in Asia and Africa. This study aimed to analyze FGM as violence against women relating to the communities and their beliefs by addressing the status quo and the legality of FGM practices in Indonesia, Egypt, and Yemen. It accounted for the state's role in preventing, handling, and safeguarding the victims of FGM practices. This study used the socio-legal method by critically analyzing the legislation for further implications for legal subjects. This study showed that FGM was a form of violence against women which have a role in the perpetual violation of women's rights. It identified the difference in practice, prevalence, legality, and the state's role in FGM in Indonesia, Egypt, and Yemen. It suggested to prevent FGM practices through mobilizing political will and funding, strengthening healthcare providers' awareness and knowledge, building a supportive legislative and regulatory environment, and reinforcing monitoring, evaluation, and accountability. Abstract:
Protection of women and children is a mandate contained in the laws of the Republic of Indonesia to the government to protect women and children from acts of violence or discrimination. The mandate is carried out by the government through several efforts to handle and prevent it through government programs that are made every year. However, until now the municipal government of Pekanbaru through the women's empowerment and child protection office does not yet have data on mapping the protection of women and children disaggregated by sex, age, type of case, and location of cases so that many child protection programs are not properly targeted according to the level of violence and types of violence in areas exposed to cases of violence. The application of the mapping application is a solution to this problem because, with computerized data on the protection of women and children, the government will make it easier to design management and prevention programs. This application displays complete indicators including data on violence mapped in the geographic form of the city of Pekanbaru which is divided into the scope of the sub-district and given a color as an indicator of high or low cases of violence in the area, violence data is displayed disaggregated according to gender, age, types of cases and locations of incidents and in addition, this application applies a case-control design to provide recommendations to the government regarding handling and prevention programs in areas exposed to cases of violence against women and children. This application will make it easier for the government to design programs to protect women and children and to reduce the number of violence against women and children which always increases every year

Abstract:
Women are creatures of God Almighty who must be protected, even though gender equality has been done with men. Therefore women must be protected from all forms of intimidation, harassment, exploitation, violence both physically and psychologically. Because the nature of women in the eyes of the social and religious eyes have differences with men, as the nature of women is the weakest god creature. Even in law, women have different protections compared to men. This writing is in the form of descriptive narrative which means describing using available legal materials which are then processed based on the theories obtained and using normative methods based on library studies, namely by collecting various kinds of literature consisting of books, journals, and documents others relating to violence and sexual harassment and social control of these crimes. Sexual crime experienced by women in Indonesia is caused by the weak social control in the community that makes the bond of social ties not well established, causing women to be lower in the eyes of the perpetrators who commit violence against women. report the actions that occur, thus there will be omission of these conditions so as to make the perpetrators freely commit sexual violence against women. Therefore the role of community social control is very necessary to protect women.
