2008/2009Le attività svolte durante il Dottorato di Ricerca, e descritte dal presente elaborato, hanno avuto come obiettivo la realizzazione di un WebGIS con tecnologia open source per archiviare, gestire, visualizzare, interrogare e rendere disponibile un patrimonio, oggi frammentato, di dati spaziali archeologici, paleogeomorfologici e storico-cartografici, provenienti da ricerche diverse, orientate alla comprensione del paesaggio antico di Aquileia, in particolare attraverso l’analisi dell’evoluzione della rete idrografica. La stessa natura intrinseca di un WebGIS, costruito secondo una logica client/server, ha stimolato la ricerca e l’adozione di soluzioni che agevolano l’interoperabilità tra diversi sistemi eterogenei che hanno la necessità di dialogare tra loro attraverso il Web. In questa ottica il progetto adotta opportuni standard per la trasmissione dei dati attraverso la rete che consentono di fatto, un facile interfacciamento tra client e server superando gli ostacoli dovuti alla diversa natura dei dati e dei software che li gestiscono. Le specifiche implementate nel sistema sono quelle previste dall’OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) e dall’ISO (International Organization for Standardization) per la ricerca, la visualizzazione e il download delle informazioni geografiche, le stesse adottate dalla recente Direttiva UE che istituisce un'Infrastruttura per l'informazione territoriale nella Comunità europea (INSPIRE). La progettazione del sistema si è svolta tenendo conto del carattere eterogeneo degli operatori “lato client”, dando la possibilità di accedere ai dati archiviati “lato server” attraverso software di tipo “browser”, “GIS desktop” e/o “database”. La gestione dei dati da client differenti, insieme alla possibilità di assegnare agli utenti privilegi differenziati di lettura, inserimento, scrittura e cancellazione delle informazioni, rende il WebGIS uno strumento flessibile e utile tanto alla ricerca, quanto alla tutela e alla valorizzazione e quindi alla divulgazione della conoscenza di quanto scoperto fino ad oggi sull’antico assetto del territorio aquileiese.

Mestrado em GeoinformáticaCom o crescimento da Internet como plataforma global para partilha de informação, cresceu também a diversidade de tipologias de informação a ser partilhada e consultada, nomeadamente informação geográfica. Neste âmbito surge como preocupação a interoperabilidade entre sistemas permitindo que sistemas diferentes possam “comunicar”, partilhando informações e recursos. O presente trabalho propõe-se recolher informação sobre a utilização das normas de interoperabilidade do Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) na Administração Pública em Portugal, permitindo analisar e tirar conclusões relativamente a esta temática, tendo também em conta o seu enquadramento legal nacional.
With the growth of the Internet as a global platform to share information there is also an increase in the diversity of the kinds of information shared and accessed, including geographical information. In this context there is a concern with the interoperability between systems, allowing different systems to “communicate” among themselves, sharing information and resources. This dissertation collects information about the usage of interoperability norms of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) in the Portuguese Public Administration, with a subsequent analysis and drawing of conclusions regarding this matter, taking also into account the national legal framework.

Fundamentale Voraussetzung für alle professionellen Kartendienste ist die Möglichkeit zur Kontrolle der grafischen Präsentation. Aus diesem Grund besteht ein starker Bedarf an der visuellen Darstellung von Geodaten. Diese transformiert rohe Informationen in wichtige und entscheidungstragende Werkzeuge. Der Feature Portrayal Service (FPS) hat die Aufgabe, diese Anforderungen umzusetzen und damit wesentlich zur kartographischen Interoperabilität in Geodateninfrastrukturen beizutragen.
Der Dienst entstammt dem internationalen Standard SLD 1.1.0 (Styled Layer Descriptor). Es handelt sich um einen Darstellungsdienst, der die interoperable Nutzung von Vektor-Daten, also von so genannten Features, ermöglicht. Dieser spezielle Web Map Service hat die Aufgabe, Geodaten von beliebigen Web Feature Services sowie rohe GML-Daten in einer gewünschten grafischen Ausprägung zu präsentieren. Dabei ist der jeweilige Nutzer in der Lage, eigene Darstellungen zu definieren und auf einen beliebigen Datenbestand anzuwenden.
Datenquellen, Darstellungsvorschriften und der Feature Portrayal Service selbst sind insofern unabhängig voneinander, dass diese drei Komponenten auf verschiedenen und voneinander unabhängigen Servern liegen können. Diese Art der Implementierung bezeichnet man als Component WMS.

The emergency services in neighboring Jämtland, Sweden and Nord-Sør Trøndelag, Norway have identified a need to share data across department, municipality and country borders. A project is started to evaluate the possibility of sharing information through a common Web Geographic Information System (GIS). The data about resources at the various departments suffers from a high level of heterogeneity, fragmentation and protocol incompatibility. The Open Geo-Spatial Consortium (OGC) issue Web standards to harmonize the processing of geo-spatial data and promote interoperability between GIS systems. A test model based on the Thin Thread Model, emulating a potential final solution, is built to evaluate the usability of these Web standards in the situation. Successful test cases including CRUD operations and relatively smooth swapping of layer modules show that using well-established standards can be beneficial. A proposed architecture extending the test model presents the idea of a centralized proxy node and a meta data catalog. The study highlights the issue of responsibility and question of which authority should maintain centralized nodes. In order to successfully implement a Web portal, the project participants must from a technical point of view investigate how to access all desired data, agree on protocols for communication and ensure that each owner of data provides an API in agreement with the protocol. The OGC Web standards are proven a good option and focal point.

The enthusiasm for free and open source software has increased since the year 2000 as more open source code has become available online. Such software is interesting for both public and private sector as license expenses can be significantly reduced. Along with this development, storing data in service oriented architectures has become a more common procedure. Foran Sweden is a company that provides geographical remote sensing products. Their existing system for supplying customers with map services is based on proprietary software which leads to high license expenses. Consequently, Foran Sweden aim to migrate to a system based on free and open source software. In order to provide Foran Sweden and other comparable, with sufficient material for decision making, this work will compare a number of open source geospatial server software products with emphasis on performance. It is also important that the web services are easy to manage and administrate. Apache JMeter has been used to perform the performance tests on three widely used software products that can handle the standards of Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Feature Service (WFS). A number of common data formats with varying storage size were used to test the software products. QGIS server performed best in 10 out of 12 scenarios for WMS. In contrast QGIS was the slowest while testing WFS, and together with MapServer, they generated a high number of server errors while simulating 30 and 60 users. GeoServer was the quickest and most stable software for WFS and showed good performance in all scenarios with every dataset. The administrative interfaces of GeoServer and QGIS are both easy to learn and manage while MapServer uses a text-based interface for the management of web services, which requires more effort from the administrator.Entusiasmen kring gratismjukvaror med öppen källkod tycks ha ökat under 2000-talet då allt mer öppen källkod blivit tillgänglig på nätet. Sådana programvaror är intressanta för aktörer inom både privat och offentlig sektor då kostnader för mjukvarulicenser kan minskas. Simultant med denna utveckling har datalagring i tjänsteorienterade arkitekturer blivit vanligare. Foran Sverige är ett företag som bland annat erbjuder geografiska fjärranalysprodukter. Deras system för distribuering av karttjänster bygger idag på mjukvara med proprietär källkod som innebär höga licenskostnader, därför vill de se på möjligheterna att migrera till ett system med kostnadsfria mjukvaror. För att bidra med beslutsunderlag till Foran och andra verksamheter som ser till möjligheterna att migrera har ett antal mjukvaror för distribution av karttjänster valts ut och genomgått prestandatester. Det är också viktigt att det administrativa gränssnittet i mjukvarorna är relativt enkelt att använda. Programvaran JMeter har använts för att belastningstesta tre olika geospatiala servermjukvaror med öppen källkod vid leverans av standarderna Web Map Service (WMS) och Web Feature Service (WFS). Ett antal vanliga dataformat med varierande lagringsvolym valdes ut som testdata. QGIS server hade nästan genomgående den högsta överföringshastigheten vid test av WMS. I kontrast presterade QGIS sämst vid test av WFS med lägst överföringshastighet och tillsammans med MapServer levererades stundtals ett högt antal felaktiga responser vid 30 respektive 60 simulerade användare. GeoServer presterade mest kontinuerligt vid de olika datakällorna och hade genomgående den högsta överföringshastigheten vid test av WFS. De administrativa gränssnitten hos GeoServer och QGIS anses båda vara lätta att använda medan MapServer är betydligt svårare då karttjänstens alla parametrar definieras i ett textbaserat gränssnitt.

Die Vereinigung unterstützt alle an Kommunalpolitik interessierten Bürgerinnen und Bürger, Abgeordnete, Fraktionen und Bürgerinitiativen bei der Gestaltung einer bürgernahen Kommunalpolitik, welche der Verwirklichung von Menschenrechten, dem Schutz der natürlichen Umwelt und unmittelbaren Bürgerinteressen dient”. Die konkrete Arbeit von DAKS e.V. besteht in Beratung und Schulung von Kommunalpolitikern und interessierten Bürgern mittels Seminaren, Vorträgen und Publikationen sowie in der Vernetzung von Kommunalpolitikern und Fachleuten mittels Tagungen und Vermittlung von Kontakten.
Aktuell ist das Bundesland Sachsen mit dem Problem des Rechtsextremismus enger verknüpft als je zuvor. In Hicks’s IS-LM model, where it is assumed that production is determined in the goods marketand the interest rate is determined in the money market, when the marginal propensity to spend is greater than one, the IS has a positive slope. Modigliani (1944), Varian (1977) and Sargent (1987) determined that in this special case the IS-LM model is stable when the LM slope isgreater than the IS.In line with Samuelson (1941), this article shows that in this case the model is stable when the IS slope is greater than the LM slope. However, in this stable case the model does not have a useful economic meaning.One solution to this theoretical problem is to abandon the Keynesian adjustment mechanism and replace it with the Classical mechanism where the interest rate is determined in the goods market and production is determined in the money market. In this case, the IS-LM model is stable when the LM is steeper than the IS.En el modelo IS-LM de Hicks, en el que se asume que la producción se determina en el mercado de bienes y la tasa de interés en el mercado de dinero, cuando la propensión marginal a gastar es mayor que uno, la IS tiene pendiente positiva. Die HALLE 14 ist ein gemeinnütziges Kunstzentrum auf der Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei. Die öffentliche Kunstbibliothek der HALLE 14 mit einem Gesamtbestand von 36.000 Büchern und Medien zur zeitgenössischen Kunst ist seit Januar 2009 im Herzen des ehemaligen Industriegebäudes, dem Besucherzentrum öffentlich zugänglich. Nach und nach wird hier der jährlich um circa 3000 Medien wachsende Bestand der Bibliothek erschlossen. Kathrin Winkler, Fachangestellte für Medien- und Informationsdienste, bringt sich seit November 2010 ehrenamtlich in der Bibliothek der HALLE 14 ein. In einem Gespräch haben Monique Erlitz, die Projektleiterin der Kunstbibliothek der HALLE 14, und Kathrin Winkler Gründe sowie Probleme und Chancen des Ehrenamts erörtert.

Die vorliegende Seminararbeit zeigt anhand einer breit gefächerten
Analyse von Mystery die Vielfältigkeit des Mystery-Begriffes und -Genres
auf, besonders im Hinblick auf die Parallelen und Unterschiede zu seinem
englischen Ursprung.
Es erfolgt eine detaillierte etymologisch-lexikografische Betrachtung.
In dieser wird auf die verschiedenen Bedeutungsfacetten von Mystery
eingegangen sowie eine Anglizismus-/Pseudoanglizismus-Debatte geführt.
Ausgangspunkt bildet der ursprüngliche Sinn von Mystery als
Unerklärliches, generelles Rätsel, Geheimnis oder religiöses Mysterium.
Es werden Verbindungen zu englischen Rätselgeschichten (mystery stories)
gezogen, die allgemein von unerklärlichen Begebenheiten erzählt. Diese
mysteries umfassen sowohl Rätsel im verbrechensbezogenen Kontext
(detective stories) als auch die im Deutschen vorherrschenden
Verbindungen zum Übernatürlichen sowie Geheimnisvoll-Rätselhaftes in den
vielfältigsten Kontexten (Gothic novels, moderne American mystery
story). Somit wird eine Annäherung der englisch-deutschen
Mystery-Bedeutung sichtbar.
Ferner versucht die Arbeit, auf Ursprünge und Entwicklungen des
deutschen Mystery-Trends einzugehen und die Faszination Mystery zu
erklären. Eine bedeutende Rolle kommt der Serie Akte X zu. Denn im Zuge
ihrer Ausstrahlung und Vermarktung im deutschen Fernsehen wurde die
englische Mystery-Bezeichnung aufgegriffen.
In die gesamte Aufarbeitung werden verschiedenste Meinungen von
Rezipientenseite, Vermarktung, Medien, Wissenschaft einbezogen. So
entsteht ein Überblick zum Dargestellten im Mystery-Genre. Es wird
belegt, dass im deutschsprachigen Raum ein relativ einheitliches
Bewusstsein dafür besteht, was das Genre Mystery im filmischen und
literarischen Bereich ausmacht.

Bisher hatte der Verband zwei Bibliotheken in Nürnberg und Aachen gepflegt. Nun wurden sämtliche Bestände in Dresden vereint. Per Fernleihe können die „Liebhaber“ Notenmaterial ordern.

Her Name Was is an examination of the oppression of transgender people in a society that is built on the nominalization of cisgender people, those who gender matchers their sex assigned at birth, and how this oppression lends itself to violence. In the summer of 2015, the body of Shade Schuler, an African American transgender woman, was found in a field outside of Dallas, Texas. Ms. Shade is part of an alarming epidemic of escalating levels of targeted violence against the transgender community. This documentary pulls back the curtain as it captures the feelings and struggles of the transgender community as they attempt to navigate and survive in a cis dominating society.

Ziel dieser Arbeit war es herauszufinden, ob es sich bei der leukozytoklastischen Zelldesintegration der neutrophilen Granulozyten in kutaner leukozytoklastischer Vaskulitis (kLV) um Apoptose handelt. Um die zugrundeliegenden Mechanismen dieses Zellzerfalls näher zu charakterisieren, wurden Hautbiopsien von 9 Patienten mit klinisch und histologisch gesicherter kLV und 13 Hautbiopsien von Patienten mit kLV folgend auf intrakutane Histamin-Injektion im zeitlichen Verlauf untersucht. Licht und elektronenmikroskopisch wurde die Morphologie der Leukozytoklasie beurteilt. Immunhistologische Untersuchungen beinhalteten klassische pro-apoptotische Rezeptoren (CD95/CD95L), desweiteren über die Mitochondrien (Bax/Bcl-2) und auf genetischer Ebene die Apoptose regulierende Proteine (p53/p21). Es wurde zusätzlich die Expression von Zelloberflächen-Rezeptoren (FcgammaRIII/ FcgammaRII) beurteilt. Mittels der TUNEL-Methode wurde versucht die klassische DNA-Fragmentierung nachzuweisen. Obwohl strukturell und ultrastrukturell die klassischen morphologischen Merkmale der Apoptose vorlagen, konnte diese biochemisch nicht untermauert werden. DNA-Fragmentierung liess sich nur in schon von Makrophagen phagozytierten Kernfragmenten nachweisen. Neutrophile waren negativ und ihre Fragmente waren es vorwiegend. Den untersuchten Rezeptoren CD95/CD95L kommt allenfalls eine geringe und den Proteine, Bax/Bcl-2 und p53/p21 keine Rolle im Zellzerfall der Neutrophilen in dieser selbstlimitierten Entzündung zu. Interessanterweise wurde jedoch FcgammaRIII sehr stark auf der Oberfläche nicht nur intakter, sondern auch schon fragmentierter neutrophiler Granulozyten exprimiert. Dementsprechend ist anzunehmen, dass diese konstitutionell exprimierten Rezeptoren nicht nur eine Rolle in der Aktivierung, sondern auch eine Rolle in der darauf folgenden Auslösung der Apoptose in diesen Zellen spielen. Desweiteren dienen diese stark glykosylierten Rezeptoren möglicherweise als Phagozytose-Erkennungsmerkmal für Makrophagen. FcgammaRII liess sich hingegen nicht auf der Oberfläche der Neutrophilen und ihrer Fragmente nachweisen. Dies könnte einerseits durch eine Verdrängung durch FcgammaRIII bedingt sein, andrerseits könnten sie durch Immnunkomplex-Bindung eine separate oder zusätzliche Rolle in der Induktion des Zellzerfalls spielen. Zusammenfassend weist der leukozytoklastische Zellzerfall der Neutrophilen in kLV die klassischen morphologischen Merkmale der Apoptose auf, die biochemisch jedoch auf atypische Weise abläuft. In dieser Hinsicht zu erwähnen, ist vor allem die verzögerte oder durch DNasen der Makrophagen bedingte DNA-Fragmentierung.The aim of this study was to find out whether leukocytoklastic cell desintegration of neutrophils in cutaneous leukocytoklastic vasculitis (clv) is apoptosis. In order to find out more about the underlying mechanisms leading to this form of cell desintegration and subsequent cell death skin sections of 9 patients with clinically and histologically verified clv and of 13 patients with clv after intradermal injection of histamine were examined at different timepoints. The structural and ultrastructural morphological features of leukoctyoklasia were evaluated light- and electronmicroscopically. Immunhistochemistry included well known death receptors (CD95/CD95L), mitochondrial proteins (Bax/Bcl-2), proteins interfering with the cell cycle (p53/p21) and cell surface receptors (FcgammaRIII/FcgammaRII). Furthermore DNAfragmentation was assessed by the TUNEL-method. Although the structural and ultrastructural features of leukocytoklastic cell desintegration of neutrophils in clv revealed typical apoptotic morphology, the underlying biochemistry didn`t match apoptotic means. DNA-fragmentation was only seen in a minor fraction of fragmented nuclei and prominent in already phagocytosed debris. Neutrophils at different locations (in the lumen of the postcapillary venules, within the wall of the blood vessels and in the perivascular tissue) were always negative.The examined death receptors, mitochondrial proteins and DNA-interfering proteins play no (Bcl-2/Bax, p53/p21) or only a minor (CD95/CD95L) role in the biochemical mechanism leading to the cell desintegration of these cells in this self-limited inflammation. Interestingly FcgammaRIII was highly expressed not only in intact but also extremely desintegrated neutrophils as well as on the surface of their fragments. One could therefore assume that this receptor not only plays a role in activation of these cells, but also might be involved in the following induction of the cell death programm. Maybe this highly glycosylated receptor also functions as an `eat me flag` in the recognition-mechansim by macrophages. FcgammaRII could not be shown on the cell surface of these cells in this context, which on the one hand could be due to the high expression of FcgammaRIII with no room left for FcgammaRII on the cell surface or due to a separate or additional role in the induction of the cell death programm. Finally leukocytoklastic cell desintegration shows strong resemblance to apoptosis but with non classical underlying biochmical mechanisms, most importantly to mention the delay in DNA-fragmentation which could also be due to DNAdegradation by DNases of macrophages.

Pro-gradu tutkielmassani tarkastelen subliimin erämaagotiikan kerrontaa ja tematiikkaa Margaret Atwoodin (1939) romaanissa Surfacing (Yli Veden) (1972/1986). Tutkimukseni selvittää, millä tavoin kerronnassa kuvatut subliimin kauhun kokemukset ilmentävät kertojan sisäistä maailmaa ja millaisia merkityksiä erämaalle tässä kuvauksessa annetaan. Luennassani subliimi kauhu ilmenee erityisesti rajalla olon tematiikan kautta. Erämaan synnyttämät pelon ja kauhun tuntemukset liittyvät sekä luonnon ja kulttuurin välisen rajan, että ihmismielen rajojen tarkasteluihin. Tutkielmani teoreettisena pohjana toimivat etenkin Edmund Burken Immanuel Kantin ajatukset subliimin psykologisesta luonteesta sekä uudenlaiset käsitykset subliimista ihmismielen rajoja pohtivana tulkintojen tilana. Gotiikkaa tarkastelen teemoina ja kerronnallisina keinoina, ja sen teorioiden kautta tutkin kauhun psykologisia ja yliluonnollisia piirteitä ja niiden yhteyttä subliimiin. Merkitykselliseksi nousee myös romaanin kerronnallinen ja temaattinen monimerkityksisyys, jota lähestyn narratologian teorioiden kautta. Tutkimuksessani on myös historiallinen näkökulma, jossa luen romaania osana kanadalaisen kirjallisuuden historiaa ja sen goottilaista perinnettä. Tässä tukeudun kanadalaisen kirjallisuuden tutkimukseen, jossa isossa osassa ovat Atwoodin omat huomiot kanadalaisen kirjallisuuden luontosuhteesta. Tutkielmassani osoitan, että Surfacingia voidaan tutkia osana subliimin ja gotiikan traditiota. Tutkimuksestani käy ilmi, että nämä kentät yhdistyvät romaanin kerronnassa ilman selkeää rajaa kertojan kokemuksellisessa yhteydessä luontoon. Tässä subliimi gotiikka merkitsee hämäräperäisyyden, pelon ja kauhun tuntemuksia, joissa vihjaillaan ihmiselle tuntemattomien voimin uhasta. Lisäksi osoitan, kuinka erämaahan kohdistuvasta subliimista kauhusta tulee kertojan psyykkisen tilan paljastaja. Tässä tulkinnassa erämaa näyttäytyy psyykkisenä muistojen tilana, jossa kertojan käsitykset itsestään ja omasta kulttuuristaan problematisoituvat.
Romaanin kerronnan häilyminen toden ja epätoden sekä yliluonnollisen ja mielen tuotosten välillä herättää myös kysymyksen subliimin kokemuksen alkuperästä. Tutkimuksessani kertojan subliimin kauhun kokemuksille annetaankin kaksi vaihtoehtoa. Joko niiden voidaan nähdä palautuvan takaisin kertojan mielen prosesseihin tai niiden alkuperä sijoitetaan johonkin luonnossa itsessään olevaan, yli-inhimilliseen todellisuuteen. Tässä osoitan, kuinka lukijan näkökulmasta romaanin yliluonnolliset tapahtuvat voivat näyttäytyä kertojan hajoavan mielen kuvauksina, mutta kertojalle kokemuksissa on kyse todellisesta, spirituaalisesta yhteydestä luontoon. Kerronnan avoin loppu jättää kuitenkin pysyvän epävarmuuden tunnelman romaaniin, mikä ilmentää mielestäni hyvin subliimiin gotiikkaan kuuluvaa rajalla olon tematiikka. Kertoja joutuu hyväksymään ymmärryksensä rajallisuuden, jolloin subliimi luonto jää saavuttamattomaksi.

Due to the rapid technological developments in the car industry and the high quality demands of customers, manufacturers and researchers focus on the reduction of surface roughness making use of various surface topography measurement systems. This master thesis focuses on development of a waviness measurement system (WMS) at Volvo Cars where light from different heights and angles illuminates the surface of an extended object in order to acquire images with different intensities due to shadowing effect and reflection. With this, surface irregularities and imperfections can be detected both in polished and unpolished surfaces for improving the car panels in the manufacturing process. The initial WMS idea was to illuminate the surface at different heights from the four corners of a dark room using 20 flash lights and a camera positioned exactly on the top of the surface in the middle of the room. The first light goes on and the image is acquired. This procedure continues for all flash lights in 19s.The acquired images were evaluated by Matlab application. With the new WMS system flash lights are replaced by 32 RGB COB LED lights using the DMX512 protocol to communicate with them. The system runs in 9s which is half the time of the old WMS system. New LabView and Matlab codes were adjusted to the new parameters and devices. In the end, measurements were taken with different surfaces, exposure times and color lights. Details of the new devices and software are analyzed in this thesis.

Zu dieser neuen Epoche der Forschung gehört auch eine spezifische Forschungsinfrastruktur, die über die universitäre Literaturversorgung hinausgehen soll. Die Ansätze der Infrastrukturverbesserung sind vielfältig und bilden ein permanentes Förderungsfeld der DFG: Sondersammelgebiete (Fachinformationszentren), Virtuelle Fachbibliotheken und viele andere Maßnahmen sollen die Informationsinfrastruktur in Deutschland nachhaltig verbessern.

Ancient Greek philosophical schools are said to share a common structure in their ethical theories which is characterized by a eudaimonistic teleology based in an understanding of human nature. At first glance, the skepticism of Sextus Empiricus as described in the Outlines of Pyrrhonism seems to fit into this model insofar as he describes the end of the skeptic as ataraxia, a common account of the expression of human happiness. I argue that this is a misunderstanding of Sextus’s philosophy for several reasons. “The end of skepticism” cannot be eudaimonistic or teleological in the way that other ancient ethical theories are typically understood; moreover, ataraxia is not an end derived from a theory about human nature. For these reasons, the skeptical way of life is radically different than the ethical theories proposed by other schools. I argue that this difference is a result of the character of the skeptical enterprise which involves the implicit rejection of norms in both the epistemological and the ethical spheres.

Bisher erhalten potenzielle Studienanfänger, Studenten und Hochschulabsolventen kaum empirisch begründete Antworten auf ihre Frage, was den beruflichen Erfolg beflügeln könnte. Im Vordergrund der hochschulpolitischen Diskussion stehen vor allem Studiendauer und Alter der Absolventen. Wie groß oder klein deren Einfluss auf den (individuellen) beruflichen Erfolg aber tatsächlich ist, wird selten reflektiert. Andere, in der Ratgeberliteratur vielfach genannte Einflussmöglichkeiten für den beruflichen Erfolg wie zum Beispiel die Nutzung persönlicher Kontakte zu Hochschullehrern, aus Praktika usw., aber auch Indikatoren sozialer Kompetenzen wurden bisher kaum untersucht. Auch die Auswirkung einer Berufsausbildung vor dem Studium wurde bislang oft nur aus der Perspektive der Ausbildungskosten und der geringeren zur Verfügung stehenden Lebensarbeitszeit der Absolventen diskutiert. Und schließlich kann auch die soziale Herkunft der Absolventen Einfluss haben. Im Rahmen der Dresdner Absolventenstudien konnten bereits für einige Fakultäten bzw. Fachrichtungen der TU Dresden Untersuchungen zu Bestimmungsgründen beruflichen Erfolges unternommen werden. In dem vorliegenden, neu aufgelegten und überarbeiteten Bericht zu Bestimmungsgründen beruflichen Erfolges konnten nun erstmals Daten der Absolventenstudien aller Fakultäten bzw. Fachrichtungen der TU Dresden, d.h. von knapp 2.000 Befragten einbezogen werden. Damit liegen wohl erstmals in Deutschland derartig detaillierte Untersuchungen für alle Fakultäten einer großen Universität vor. In der hiermit vorgelegten Publikation soll - ergänzend zu den bereits vorgelegten fachspezifischen Analysen - eine fächerübergreifende Analyse von Bestimmungsgründen beruflichen Erfolges dokumentiert werden. Hiermit wird immer wieder gestellten Fragen entsprochen, welche individuellen Merkmale von Absolventen - also welche (Vor)Erfahrungen und gegebenenfalls Brüche im Lebenslauf, welche (zusätzlichen) Qualifikationen, sozialen und beruflichen Kompetenzen, Einstellungen, soziodemographischen Eigenschaften und Strategien - und welche Rahmenbedingungen der Bildungsbiographie (mit Fokus auf die Hochschul- und Studienqualität) fächerübergreifend Einfluss auf den beruflichen Erfolg haben. Hierzu war zunächst zu definieren und auf Eignung zu prüfen, was als Maßstab des Erfolges gelten soll. Allein das Einkommen - vor allem wenn es nur zu einem Zeitpunkt erfasst wird - ist als Erfolgskriterium nicht hinreichend zu bewerten. Außerdem ist für die Absolventen selbst das Einkommen wesentlich weniger wichtig als z.B. eine interessante Tätigkeit oder ein gutes Arbeits- und Betriebsklima, so dass diese sich im Zweifelsfall wohl für eine geringer bezahlte, aber interessantere Stelle entscheiden würden. Und dies gilt für fast alle Fächergruppen. Daher wurden für den Berufserfolg das Einkommen zu mehreren Zeitpunkten sowie als weitere Kriterien die aktive Suchdauer bis zur ersten beruflichen Tätigkeit, die Zufriedenheit mit der beruflichen Situation und - zusätzlich zur vorangegangen Untersuchung - nun auch die Ausbildungsadäquanz der Beschäftigung operationalisiert. Die Analysen erfolgten in zwei Schritten: Im ersten Schritt werden für einen ersten Eindruck von der Stärke (und gegebenenfalls Richtung) des wechselseitigen Zusammenhangs jeweils zweier Variablen die Korrelationskoeffizienten auf Hochschul- und Fakultäts- bzw. Fachrichtungsebene ermittelt. Der zweite Schritt und Schwerpunkt der Untersuchungen sind die Regressionsanalysen. Da dieses komplexe Analyseverfahren deutlich größere Fallzahlen erfordert, konnte es für die Dresdner Absolventenstudien an den einzelnen Fakultäten bislang nur vereinzelt eingesetzt werden. Jetzt können mit dessen Hilfe auch Zusammenhänge zwischen mehr als zwei Variablen berücksichtigt werden (multivariate Analyse).

Wie interpretieren und bearbeiten Professionelle in der offenen Jugendarbeit Gewalt zwischen Jugendlichen? Auf welche wissenschaftlich gestützten Theorien bzw. Methoden greifen sie dabei zurück?
Die Dissertation beschäftigt sich mit diesen Fragen aus einer professionstheoretischen Perspektive sowie auf Grundlage einer ethnografischen Studie im Stil der Grounded Theory, welche in fünf unterschiedlichen Jugendtreffs über einen Zeitraum von eineinhalb Jahren durchgeführt wurde.
Zentrale Ergebnisse der Studie zeigen, dass Professionelle in der offenen Jugendarbeit Gewalt als Risiko bearbeiten. Gewalt zwischen Jugendlichen tritt zwar relativ selten auf, ist aber als Szenario, das sich entwickeln könnte, im Denken der Professionellen omnipräsent. Auf Grund dessen handeln sie laufend im Sinne einer alltagsnahem Gewaltprävention und versuchen, eine gewaltförmige Entwicklung von Alltagssituationen zu verhindern. Dies wird durch die Darstellung typischer Situationen, die in den Jugendtreffs auftreten, und darauf abgestimmter Handlungsstrategien der Professionellen gezeigt.
Im Rahmen dessen wird deutlich, dass zwei Muster professioneller Problemkonstruktion zentral sind – zum einen in Anlehnung an die sanktionierende Pädagogik, zum anderen an ein Verständnis von Jugendarbeit als Bildung. Vor dem Hintergrund dieser sozialpädagogischen Ansätze werden die Interpretations- und Handlungsstrategien der Professionellen diskutiert.Based on an ethnographic study, the book focuses how social workers deal with violence in youth clubs. The results show that they interpret violence as a risk: As severe injuries appear rarely, social workers do not have to handle violent situations but the risk of violent development of situations. Hence, they have a (tacit) amount of strategies to assess situations and to avoid developments of sincere violence. The results show further, that these strategies are based on different bodies of scientific knowledge.

The study describes the experiences of a small sample of men from Westoe Colliery in South Shields within a comprehensive conceptual framework, that is rather than taking the closure as its starting point this study attempts to understand the importance and relevance of redundancy in terms of the men's life experience. For this reason the men's reasons for entering mining and their subsequent attachment to work are considered as is the increasing dissatisfaction with work experienced following the closure announcement. This study seeks to add to our understanding of the process of redundancy and the way in which redundancy was achieved with relative ease. As Wood and Dey (1983) have noted reactions to redundancy are, of course, affected by the current state of the labour market but they are also affected by other factors. The role of redundancy payments is examined and it is found that such payments have an extremely important role in easing the process of redundancy, however they cannot be considered in isolation from other factors that served to constrain the workers' choices. Redundancy is a far more complex process than many studies have suggested and cannot be understood without considering how previous experiences. influence workers' perceptions of events and their reaction to them. The labour market experiences of the redundant men and the role of British Coal Enterprise are also examined and this study, in common with others, questions BCE's claims of success in 'outplacing' redundant miners. The men's experiences are considered in the context of Government and employers' attempts to increase flexibility. It is found that redundant miners, like an increasing proportion of Britain's workforce, are experiencing increasing insecurity both in and out of employment.

Describes a theory of gaming inspired primarily by Jean Baudrillard’s claim that gaming is characterized by a “passion for rules.” Key elements of the theory include that games are an attempt to create a new reality, that games create a space for individuality even in an otherwise homogenized world, and that pain and happiness are not diametrically opposed concepts to the gamer. The theory also emphasizes the importance of the player’s meeting with the “superplayer,” the player’s own constructed ideal that he tries to imitate within the game world. This theory of gaming is then applied to the 14th century British poem, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight both as a demonstration of the theory and to offer a new perspective on the poem. Gawain’s character in the poem is argued as being the archetype of the modern gamer, escaping from an oppressive hegemony by daring to follow the superplayer’s seduction into the passionate world of gaming.

Die Arbeit sollte die technische Machbarkeit der Verwendung digitaler Metadaten in Geodateninfrastrukturen aufzeigen und wenn möglich prototypisch umsetzen. Dabei sollten die Metadaten über Topographische Karten, welche in dem Metainformationssystem GeoMIS.Sachsen und über einen entsprechenden Katalogdienst (CSW) verfügbar sind, in einem Geoportal visualisiert werden. Im Ergebnis wurde ein Workflow entwickelt und umgesetzt, welcher die Metadaten automatisch abruft, die Metadaten entsprechend transformiert und abschließend die Metadaten über einen Kartendienst (WMS) für beliebige Geoportale bereitstellt. Dadurch ist es möglich die Aktualität von bereits vorhanden Kartendiensten bzw. deren Daten abzufragen. Durch die zyklische Ausführung des Prozesses auf dem Server stehen dem Nutzer jederzeit aktuelle Blattschnittübersichten zur Verfügung. Darüber hinaus steht ebenfalls ein Kartendienst für Vektordaten bereit über den die Geometriedaten und zusätzliche Sachinformationen direkt abgerufen werden können. Außerdem wird ein direkter Verweis (Link) auf den entsprechenden Metadatensatz im GeoMIS.Sachsen angegeben. Weiterhin wurde eine Transformation entwickelt, welche die im XML vorliegenden Metadaten in eine SVG überführt. Diese interaktive Blattschnittübersicht kann direkt auf Webseiten eingebunden werden. Außerdem kann aus dem SVG Format wiederum automatisiert ein PDF Dokument erstellt werden. Die Arbeit konnte nachweisen, dass zukünftig eine doppelte und getrennte Datenführung von Metadaten und Blattschnittübersichten nicht notwendig ist. Die Verwendung der IT Standardtechnologie XSLT zur Transformation von XML Daten hat sich bewährt und ermöglicht auch die Unterstützung weiterer Formate wie z.B. XHTML, KML (google) oder XCPF. Der erarbeitete Ansatz ist auch für andere Geodaten wie z.B. Luftbilder, historische Karten oder Bebauungspläne anwendbar. Durch die Visualisierung der textbasierten Metadaten war außerdem eine Qualitätssicherung der Metadaten möglichThe work shows the technical feasibility of digital metadata within Spatial Data Infrastructures. The visualization of digital geo-metadata in geoportals was prototypical implemented. The use case was a map sheet index of topographical maps who is prepared automatically. Geo-metadata are described in the metadata information system GeoMIS.Sachsen and provided by a catalogue service (CSW). As a result a workflow was developed and implemented which calls the metadata automatically, transforms the metadata into GML and finally prepares the metadata through a web map service in geoportals. Thereby it is possible to analyze the actuality of the topographical maps through map sheet index. Because of the cyclical update of the data the map patterns are always up to date. There is also a map service for vector data (WFS) implemented which enables a user to directly retrieve additional factual information. Furthermore a direct URL to the metadataset in the GeoMIS.Sachsen is stated. Besides the GML transformation another one was developed, which converts the metadata in XML format into scalable vector graphics (SVG). This interactive map sheet index could be integrated directly on websites. It is also possible to create a PDF document automatically out of the SVG with appropriate software tools. By using the XSLT standard additional formats could also be served. For example a transformation of the XML source data into KML (Google), XHTML or XCPF is possible. This work demonstrates that there is no need for a separation of metadata and map sheet index any more. The usage of XSLT was profitable and supports a lot of formats. The workflow is also usable for other geo data like air photography, historical maps or development plans. In addition it is possible to use the workflow to visualize other metadata like resolution or prices of each map. Because of the visualization of the text based metadata a quality check of the data is possible

Relatório de estágio do mestrado em Gestão, apresentado à Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra, sob a orientação de Rui Pedro Santos Lourenço e Cristovão Domingues.Nos últimos anos a logística tem-se revelado fundamental para qualquer empresa, na medida em que a falta de um componente, numa linha de produção pode significar a paragem da empresa e por consequência o encerramento temporário, da mesma. Um exemplo disso foi o caso ocorrido durante o período de greve dos camionistas que obrigou certas empresas a pararem a produção, por falta de componentes e matéria-prima. A logística pode ser fragmentada em diversas áreas, tais como a expedição; a recepção; a gestão de armazém, entre outros. A esta logística, normalmente, chama-se logística directa, pois o fluxo vai sempre ao encontro do cliente com o intuito de entregar a mercadoria nas melhores condições, de modo a superar as suas expectativas. Recentemente, as empresas têm enfrentado um novo problema que se prende com as recolhas ou devoluções dos clientes, é chamada logística inversa que não é mais do que a circulação dos bens, no sentido inverso à logística directa. É nesta logística que as empresas manifestam as maiores dificuldades, sendo por vezes o seu custo elevadíssimo. Outra dificuldade consiste em registar a entrada da mercadoria, bem como, saber da sua localização no armazém. Para a realização do presente trabalho procurei fundamentar conceitos relacionados com cadeia de abastecimento, logística, picking, transportes, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) e tecnologias de Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID), como componentes de uma estratégia logística, no sentido de optimizar resultados e criar vantagem competitiva. O estágio compreendeu a instalação de um WMS apoiado por um sistema de picking, em que os registos dos produtos passaram a ser feitos de uma forma informatizada, tanto à entrada como à saída. Com o aumento do volume de mercadorias a circular e com o alargamento da gama de produtos que a empresa começou a produzir e a vender, houve necessidade de colocar um sistema que facilitasse a recepção das matérias-primas e a expedição dos produtos. Outra razão que levou a empresa a adoptar um sistema de gestão de armazém foi a necessidade de aumentar a fiabilidade da informação e a eliminação de erros na introdução de dados relativos aos produtos. Acresce-se ainda que a competitividade do mercado faz com que as empresas necessitem de sistemas informáticos, que possibilitem a comunicação entre os parceiros da cadeia de abastecimento. Deste modo, a empresa teve necessidade de instalar um WMS apoiado por um sistema de picking. O presente trabalho pretende mostrar quais poderão ser as mais-valias na implementação de um sistema de gestão de armazém, ao nível da poupança de custos e diminuição das perdas, resultantes da falta de gestão de stocks.
