Abstract:

Background Wischberg is a Swiss locality in Bern Canton which has yielded numerous vertebrates remains from the earliest Miocene (= MN1). It has a very rich faunal diversity, one of the richest in Switzerland for this age. Among all the mammals reported in the original faunal list 70 years ago, three rhinocerotid species were identified. The material consists of two fragmentary skulls, cranial fragments, several mandibles, teeth and postcranial bones, in a rather good state of preservation. Results After reexamination of the material from this locality (curated in three different Swiss museums) and comparison with holotype specimens, we show that all rhinocerotid specimens from Wischberg can be referred to two species only. Most of the material can be attributed to the large-sized teleoceratine Diaceratherium lemanense, while only a few specimens, including a skull and mandible, belong to the much smaller sized Pleuroceros pleuroceros. We describe and illustrate for the first time most of these fossil remains. However, the systematics of the genus Diaceratherium is currently controversial, and based on our new observations we consider seven species as valid, though a large-scale phylogenetic study should be done in the future to resolve it. The rhinocerotid association found in Wischberg is nonetheless typical of the MN1 biozone, which results from a faunal renewal occurring just before the end of the Oligocene.

Das Problem der Entsprechung der urslawischen Verbindung *tl/dl in den siisla wischen Sprachen war teilweise Gegenstand von kontroversen Interpretationen. Noch besonders strittig war die Interpretation des zweifachen Nachweises in den Preisinger Denkmfilem. So stellt z.B. Issatschenko 1943 in seiner deutschen Zusammenfassung folgendes fest (S. 85): "Neben dl in modliti, modlim, vzedli II 59, 36, 62 haben wir bereits assimiliertes l in crilatcem I 4. /.../ Ramovš vertritt nun, ebenso wie Grafenau er, die These, Preis. I sei in Kärnten entstanden /.../. Aber gerade die Kärntner slov. Dialekte haben altes dl bewahrt, vgl. gailtalerisch kridųo. Warum haben wir dann nicht auch *kridlatcem ? Für uns ist hier wichtig, dass Preis. II eine andere Lautung hat, als die beiden Beichten, die, nach Ramovš, den 'jüngeren' Sprachstand aufwei sen."

Comparison between groups using non-parametric test for dependent data (sign test). Zusammenfassung Der Klimawandel zeigt inzwischen erkennbare Konsequenzen weltweit und diese nehmen kontinuierlich zu. Zu diesen gehört, dass in ländlichen, aber auch in städtischen Regionen bestimmte Gebiete besonders starken Umweltveränderungen ausgesetzt sind und in Zukunft manche Zonen unbewohnbar werden (z. B. ausgelöst durch anhaltende Dürren oder den Anstieg des Meeresspiegels). Ob dies zu einem verstärkten Migrationsaufkommen führen wird, hängt u.a. davon ab, wie gut durch die Politik, d. h. vor allem durch staatlich induzierte Maßnahmen als Reaktion auf die (klimatischen und demzufolge alle Lebensbereiche treffenden) Veränderungen, besonders die Lage benachteiligter Gruppen betreffend, eingegangen wird. Dies entspräche einer im Sinne an Menschenrechten orientierten Anpassungspolitik. Der Artikel stellt systematisch die Zusammenhänge wischen Klimawandel, Migration und Menschenrechten dar. Er verweist darauf, dass die Definitionsfragen zu Begriffen wie Klimaflüchtling oder Umweltmigration präzise geklärt werden müssen, um politische Inanspruchnahmen zu vermeiden. Er schildert ebenfalls, dass auf nationaler Ebene, aber auch im Völkerrecht derzeit Regulierungslücken existieren, die geschlossen werden müssen, um angemessen auf die bevorstehenden Herausforderungen reagieren sowie den Schutz von Menschen auf der Flucht adäquat gewährleisten zu können.

Abstract:

Was das slawische Lehngut Österreichs und insbesondere Kärntens betrifft, ist festzuhalten, dass es sich auf Grund linguistischer Fakten als größtenteils sehr alt erweist, obwohl das Meiste davon erst relativ spät überliefert wird. Doch einige sla wische bzw. slowenische Toponyme sind urkundlich schon vor dem Jahre 1000 belegt (u.a. in Kärnten 6), zwischen 1000 und 1250 nimmt die Belegdichte zu. Bei den Personennamen werden vor 1000 150 ,,Slawen" genannt, nach 1000 über 380.1 Sie scheinen alle in lateinisch oder deutsch geschriebenen Urkunden auf. E. Kranz mayer hat eine Reihe von Anhaltspunkten für die Chronologie der Übernahme von Ortsnamen ins Deutsche geliefert2 . In einem größeren Zusammenhang entspricht die slawische Sprachform, die den Ortsnamen im Osten und Süden Österreichs (Ost-tirol, Kärnten' Steiermark, Salzburg-Lungau, südliches Nieder und östliches Oberösterreich zu Grunde liegt, dem ,,Alpenslawischen" (nach Ramovš, Kronsteiner usw.) bzw. der Sprache der altslowenischen ,,Preisinger Denkmäler", was auch bereits der große slowenische Dialektologe und Sprachhistoriker Ramovš fest gestellt hat. Die Varianten in der deutschen Wiedergabe der slawischen Namen woHte er dialektologisch deuten, mir ist es aber gelungen, diese Unterschiede chronologisch zu erklären, woraus folgt, dass es im hohen und späten Mittelalter eine über Kärnten hinausgehende weit verbreitete Gemischtsprachigkeit in Österreich gab7, was sich auch in alten Lehnwörtern widerspiegelt.

Abstract:

All data is not equally popular. Often, some portion of data is more frequently accessed than the rest, which causes a skew in popularity of the data items. Adapting to this skew can improve performance, and this topic has been studied extensively in the past for disk-based settings. In this work, we consider an in-memory data structure, namely hash table , and show how one can leverage the skew in popularity for higher performance. Hashing is a low-latency operation, sensitive to the effects of caching and code complexity, among other factors. These factors make learning in-the-loop challenging as the overhead of performing additional operations can have significant impact on performance. In this paper, we propose VIP hashing, a hash table method that uses lightweight mechanisms for learning the skew in popularity and adapting the hash table layout on the fly. These mechanisms are non-blocking, i.e, the hash table is operational at all times. The overhead is controlled by sensing changes in the popularity distribution to dynamically switch-on/off the mechanisms as needed. We ran extensive tests against a host of workloads generated by Wiscer , a homegrown benchmarking tool, and we find that VIP hashing improves performance in the presence of skew (22% increase in fetch operation throughput for a hash table with 1M keys under low skew) while adapting to insert and delete operations, and changing popularity distribution of keys on the fly. Our experiments on DuckDB show that VIP hashing reduces the end-to-end execution time of TPC-H query 9 by 20% under low skew.

Metode penelitian menggunakan metode deskriftif yang didasarkan pada hasil pengamatan di lapangan dan analisis tanah di laboratorium. Erosi tanah dihitung dengan menggunakan persamaan Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) yang dikemukakan oleh Wischmeir dan Smith (1978). Metode USLE mengamati beberapa aspek seperti erosivitas, erodibilitas, faktor panjang dan kemiringan lereng, faktor pengelolaan tanaman dan tindakan konservasi. Penelitian ini terdiri dari beberapa tahap yaitu, persiapan, pengumpulan data, pelaksanaan lapangan, analisis laboratorium dan analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkkan bahwa pada lokasi penelitian ini terdapat enam satuan peta lahan (SPL) dengan total luas 2437,83 Hektar. Erosi potensial tertinggi dijumpai pada SPL 2 yaitu sebesar 6762,10 ton ha-1 th-1 dan erosi potensial terendah dijumpai pada SPL 1 yaitu 172,01 ton ha-1 th-1. Erosi aktual tertinggi dijumpai pada SPL 2 yaitu sebesar 473,35 ton ha-1 th-1 dan erosi aktual terendah dijumpai pada SPL 5 yaitu 9,58 ton ha-1 th-1. Terdapat 3 klasifikasi tingkat bahaya erosi yaitu tingkat bahaya erosi ringan (R) pada SPL 1, SPL 5, dan SPL 6, tingkat bahaya erosi sedang (S) pada SPL 3, dan tingkat bahaya erosi berat (B) pada SPL 2 dan SPL 4.The Level of Erosion Hazard at Oil Palm Plantation in Subulussalam CityAbstrak. This study aims to determine the level of erosion hazard in palm oil plantations in Subulussalam City. The research method uses a descriptive method based on field observations and soil analysis in the laboratory. Soil erosion is calculated by using the formula of Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) which is invented by Wischmeir and Smith (1978). The USLE method observes several aspects such as erosivity, erodibility, length and slope factors, crop management factors and conservation actions. This research consists of several stages, namely, preparation, data collection, field implementation, laboratory analysis and data analysis. The results of the study showed that at the location of this study there were six units of land maps (SST) with a total area of 2437.83 hectares. The highest potential erosion was found in SPL 2 which was 6762.10 tons ha-1 th-1 and the lowest potential erosion was found in SPL 1 which was 172.01 tons ha-1 th-1. The highest actual erosion was found in SPL 2 which was 473.35 tons ha-1 th-1 and the lowest actual erosion was found in SPL 5 which was 9.58 tons ha-1 th-1. There are 3 classifications of the level of erosion hazard namely the level of light erosion hazard (R) in SPL 1, SPL 5, and SPL 6, the level of moderate erosion hazard (S) in SPL 3, and the level of severe erosion hazard (B) in SPL 2 and SPL 4.

Abstract:

El objetivo fue determinar si existen diferencias en la autoestima de adolescentes con bajo rendimiento escolar comparados con los de un rendimiento promedio o superior. Los participantes fueron 60 adolescentes, entre 13 y 16 años, de ambos sexos, con un C.I. promedio o superior al promedio, de los cuales 30 presentaban un bajo rendimiento escolar (grupo de estudio) y 30 un buen rendimiento (grupo contraste). Se administró el WISCR para determinar el C.I. y el Rorschach según el SC de Exner para evaluar la autoestima. Los resultados mostraron que el Rorschach es adecuado para evaluar la autoestima. Asimismo existe una diferencia significativa en la autoestima de adolescentes con bajo rendimiento como resultado de sus déficits afectivos, en comparación con los de alto rendimiento.

Permanent turf grass as the factor alleviating water erosion in the Carpathian Mountains Soil erosion by water is an important economical issue, because it strongly degrades the environment. This phenomenon occurs in the Carpathian mountain areas, and it is caused largely by inappropriate land use. And in the last quarter of the century, in whole region significant structural changes took place - an increase of grassland areas. Research was made in the period of 2008-2010 in the Biała Woda catchment area (10.91 km2) - the Carpathian Mts. The study area under discussion is characterised by low share of arable lands and by high contribution of the permanent grasslands. In this paper the mass of eroded materials was determined by applying of the universal soil losses equation - USLE (Wischeier and Smith, 1978), using main factors, which have the impact on shaping the catchment area e.g. geological structure, terrain relief, the soil, climate, particularly precipitation, land use and slopes. Main attention was focused on agricultural land use (grasslands), hydrographical and road network. Sometimes the field roads becomes streams (gullies, which create favourable conditions for linear erosion e.g. for transporting eroded material during, heavy rainfall. Therefore, structural- spatial changes which now are taking place sometimes intensify the erosion process.

Zusammenfassung Ziel Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, eine Übersicht von über die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ultraschall in der Medizin zertifizierten Experten über durchgeführte Hygienemaßnahmen bei der ultraschallgeführten Stanzbiopsie der Mamma zu erhalten, um daraus in Kenntnis der vorliegenden Literatur und mangels evidenzbasierter Leitlinien aktuelle Handlungsempfehlungen für die klinische Routine abzuleiten. Material und Methode Es wurde eine Umfrage unter allen Mitgliedern der Stufe I–III des Arbeitskreises Mamma-Sonografie der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Ultraschall in der Medizin durchgeführt. Erfragt wurde die Einschätzung eines Infektionsrisikos bei der Stanzbiopsie der Mamma und welche Hygienemaßnahmen in der Praxis durchgeführt werden, um eine Infektion zu vermeiden. Ergebnisse Das Risiko für eine Infektion nach einer Stanzbiopsie der Mamma wurde im Median auf 1 Promille geschätzt. Die häufigsten durchgeführten Hygienemaßnahmen waren eine Sprüh-Wisch-Sprüh-Desinfektion (98,1 %) und die Verwendung steriler Handschuhe (54,7 %). Schlussfolgerungen Aufgrund des sehr geringen Infektionsrisikos empfehlen wir, in der Routine Handschuhe zu nutzen und eine adäquate Hautdesinfektion durchzuführen. Der Kontakt des Schallkopfes oder eines unsterilen Kontaktmediums mit der Biopsie-Nadel wird als äußerst unwahrscheinlich eingeschätzt und sollte vermieden werden.

Introduction and aim:This study examines the effect of life skills education on mild intellectual and developmental disabled students.Life skills education program is widely used in other disabilities but rarely utilized with children who have intellectual disabilities, possibly on the assumption that the cognitive skills on which it capitalizes are less likely to be available. The primary goal of education for this group is to increase self-sufficiency by teaching functional skills needed in everyday life across home, community, work, and leisure domains.Method:A total of 30 participants took part in this study (20 male, 10 femal). The IQ level of these participants were assessed by WISC_R. we also assessed intervention effects on three skills targeted by classroom teachers. The three target skills were self-knowledge, social and interpersonal relationships, and anger-management.Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient and factor analyses were used to examine the reliability and validity of the LSEQ in this special students sample.Results:The alpha coefficient reliability of the total scale of the LSEQ was 0.76. The total effect of Life skills education program showed positive effects ( T=-7.136 df=29, p< .001 ), Self-knowledge ( T=-5.882 df=29, p< .001 ), interpersonal relationship ( T=-7.430 df=29, p< .001 ), anger-management ( T=-4.762 df=29, p< .001 ).Cunclusion:Overall, results showed positive effects of the intervention on participants" skills. Further research on the effects of various systematic instructional strategies on the social- skills of individuals with various disabilities in multiple settings is recommended.
