Abstract:
The monograph examines and develops theoretical and methodological issues of modern approaches to the generalization of historical and scientific material and the problems of classification of fields of scientific knowledge. Methodological recommendations based on the positions of the general theory of systems concerning the issues of periodization and classification of research in the field of the history of science and technology are formulated. The results of generalization and classification of a wide range of historical and scientific material on the history of infocommunications and radio technologies in the Black Sea Fleet and in the Crimea for 115 years (from the first experiments of A.S. Popov in the Black Sea Fleet to the return of Crimea to the Russian Federation) are presented. It will be useful to historians of science and technology, as well as to anyone interested in the history of the development of infocommunications and radio technologies in the Black Sea Fleet and in the Crimea.

Abstract:
Radio produced and broadcast behind prison walls is redefining traditional meanings of ‘public service broadcasting’ and disrupting traditional power structures within the prison system. Focusing on one of the most interesting developments in UK prisons over the past ten years, this book examines the early history of the Prison Radio Association (PRA) and the formation of the first national radio station for prisoners. Highlighting the enduring importance of social values in broadcasting, this book shows how radio can be used as a powerful force for social change. It will be of interest to those involved in media, criminal justice, and social activism.

Abstract:
This volume brings together empirical studies on language and speech as well as on their linkage with musical-sound elements in the media (radio, audio guide, audio book, radio play as well as YouTube and Instagram videos). The contributions are primarily concerned with auditory comprehensibility and sound aesthetics, with the medial target group and format specificity of radio genres and other media offerings, and with the speech effects of medial genres, also in cultural comparison. German and Russian news formats, standardized short moderations in several countries, gender constructions in double moderations of German radio primetime, soccer reports, audio guides for children, audio books read aloud and freely narrated, Instagram stories and Youtube educational videos, as well as hip-hop radio as educated radio will be examined. Ines Bose, Prof. Dr. phil. habil., is at the Department of Speech Science and Phonetics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Clara Luise Finke, Dr. phil., is head of the Department of Speech Science at the University of Leipzig. Anna Schwenke, Dr. phil., works at the University of Greifswald as a research assistant in the German Department of the Elementary School Teacher Training Program.

Abstract:
Reflecting on the forms of mediamaking discussed in preceding chapters, the conclusion assesses their continued relevance for contemporary sound culture and lays out guiding principles for future scholarship. Mediamaking, it argues, entails not only the development of dominant production practices but also the professionalization and legitimation of media labor, playing a vital role in shaping new technologies. Although shifts in radio technologies, industries, content, and audiences have yielded corresponding changes in mediamaking practices throughout the past century, foundational strategies developed by radio workers during the prenetwork era have shown surprising longevity and continue to inform key dimensions of contemporary soundwork. In tracing these transformations in future histories, scholars will need to show continued consideration of more institutionally specific pressures and demands but will reap continued rewards from cultivating transmedia perspectives that connect these developments to larger shifts in period sound cultures.

Abstract:
This chapter summarizes the book. The central conclusion of the book is that when uncertainty is high, nonvoting decreases. Three generalizations arise about this uncertainty. First, dramatic changes in economic conditions reduce nonvoting. This is true when the economy is moving upward or downward. When there is economic stability, nonvoting rates increase. Second, technology shocks with the advent of new forms of mass communication technology decrease nonvoting. The rise of radio, network television, and the Internet creates uncertainty about how the communication will work and nonvoting decreases. Third, in general, the rising costs of war reduce nonvoting. The greater the uncertainty about the war the more likely people will go to the polls.

Abstract:
This chapter continues the discussion of the laws of relativistic dynamics for systems of point particles, beginning with the law of angular momentum conservation in collisions. It considers an ensemble of free particles each characterized by its (constant) momentum pa. The total momentum p = Σ‎apa does not depend on the inertial frame used, but the angular momentum will depend on the frame, because its definition involves radius vectors between an event reference point and points qa on the particle world lines. Furthermore, these are chosen to be simultaneous in a given frame. The chapter also formulates the equations of motion for particles possessing an internal rotation or ‘spin’.
