Abstract:
Penelitian geofisika di Perairan Todak, Singkep, Kepulauan Riau menggunakan seperangkat peralatan seismik pantul dangkal saluran tunggal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menunjang penelitian keterdapatan endapan plaser pembawa timah dan unsur tanah jarang (REE). Hasil interpretasi rekaman seismik diperoleh terdapatnya lembah/mangkuk yang terbentuk secara alami akibat adanya terobosan batuan granit, di mana lembah/mangkuk-mangkuk ini merupakan tempat terjadinya sedimentasi dari hasil pelapukan batuan di sekitarnya. Hasil interpretasi rekaman seismik pantul saluran tunggal analog di perairan Todak, Singkep, dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi 3 runtunan yaitu runtunan A, B, dan runtunan C.Kata kunci Data seismik, endapan plaser, lembah/mangkuk, Perairan Todak. Geophysical research at Todak, Singkep, Riau Archipelago Province, by using single channel sahllow seismic refletion. The purpose of research is to support placer deposit bearing tin and rare earth element research at this area. From seismic interpretation can be recognized the distribution of valley/bowls which is naturally formed, caused by granite rock intrusion. Those valleys are sedimentation places of wheathered rock from the surrounding area. Beside that, the seismic research also for determining the placer deposit thickness. Interpratation of analog single channel seismic records in the Todak waters, Singkep, result 3 seismic sequences and intrusive feature, A sequences, B, and C. Keywords: Seismic data, placer deposit, valley/basin, Todak Watres.

<p>Se delimitan las unidades geológicas del distrito de Juan Viñas a partir del uso de modelado numérico del terreno como una forma de zonificar el área de estudio. Dicho modelado implicó el uso de curvas de nivel vectoriales para la creación del MED el cual sirvió como base para el modelo de sombras sobre el cual se delinearon las unidades Adicionalmente se realizaron ensayos, recolección de muestras macroscópicas para descripción básica y para sección delgada, para establecer la naturaleza petrográfica de los materiales litológicos encontrados. Fueron propuestas diez unidades geológicas asociadas principalmente a coladas lávicas de origen diverso, identificándose flujos generados a partir de un único punto de emisión, emisiones lineales a través de figuras o domos de forma subcónicas. Estas unidades son cubiertas por depósitos superficiales que podrían corresponder con depósitos de ceniza meteorizados. También han sido identificadas unidades de valles y terrazas aluviales, escarpes de posible origen tectónico y depósitos de flujos en masa.</p><p> </p><p>SETTING AND CHARACTERIZATION OF GEOLOGICAL UNITS FROM LAND NUMERICAL MODEL IN THE DISTRICT OF JUAN VIÑAS, CARTAGO</p><p><em><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></em><br /> Geological units of the district of Juan Viñas were established based on the use of a land numerical modeling as a form of zoning the studying area. Such modeling involved the use of vector contour lines to create the MED which served as the basis for the shaded relief map where the geological<br /> units were delimited. Additionally, some tests and sample collection for the basic macroscopic description and thin sections were performed in order to establish the petrographic nature of the lithological materials that were found. Ten geological units mainly related to lava flws, thus identifying flws generated from a single point of emission, lineal emissions through cracks or subcon<br /> ical domes were suggested. These units were covered with surface deposits that may correspond to wheathered ash deposits. Valley units and alluvial terraces, possible tectonic scarps and massive flow deposits have been also identifid.</p><p> </p><p><span><br /></span></p>

An HTML demo page, based on the results of a collaboration between CRS4 and CSP, is presented explaining some image processing of meteorogical data. Raw data, obtained every 30 minutes from the METEOSAT satellite, is processed to obtain colored high-contrast images, multiple images are then compressed using the MPEG video standard. The HTML page explains the details of the transformation process and contains links to sample images and the CRS4 MPEG wheather movies archive.

Abstract:
The in situ measurement of rumen degradability explains properly the disappearance of rumen feeds by solubilization. However, this methodology does not assure wheather the material in the rumen indeed suffered microbial degradation, or if the loss of material occurred by other reasons. The in vitro gas production technique, on other hand, measures a product of the fermentation process. If the remains of the gas production is recovered at pre-determined intervals, we could also determine the rate and extent of the degradation occurred in the process. Thus, the aim of this work was to compare the rate and extent of the degradation obtained from these two methodologies.

Abstract:
Abdominal pregnancy appears once in 3000 pregnancies. It usually terminates with abortion and urgent surgery. Thanks to ultrasonography and computed tomography the diagnosis is possible before surgery. Most frequently the diagnosis has been established during emergency laparotomy. Gynaecologists are not in agreement wheather removal of placenta is mandatory or not, as it may include removal of parts or entire organs or may be followed with serious bleeding difficult to control. We present a 21-year old woman in whom during an urgent laparotomy performed for abdominal pregnancy placenta inserted in the spleen was left in situ. Postoperatively the patient developed subphrenic abscess which could not be solved without reoperation during which both the placenta and the spleen were removed. Ten years after surgery she is symptom-free.

Abstract:
Geomechanical characterisation of altered volcanic rocks and their role in flank volcanoes stability are evaluated in this study. Physical and mechanical properties and their variation with the degree of alteration are described in detailed. A series of multidisciplinary tests were performed to identify and quantify the progressive degradation of the properties. They are as follow: 1) petrographycal and chemical studies (thin-sections, x-ray diffractions and x-ray fluorescence); 2) effective and total porosity (standard test procedure, mercury intrusion porosimetry, pycnometer tests, two-dimensional and x-ray CT image analysis); 3) Ultrasonic pulse velocity measurements; 4) uniaxial compressive tests (with p-wave measurements, cyclic loading); tensile tests (with strain gauge measurements); and 5) triaxial tests (single-stage and multi-stage). Preliminary numerical modelling was mainly focus on the effect of altered rocks content and gravity effects, even if different perturbations such as pore water pressure (e.g. rainfall, vapour and gas), and regional or local tectonics (e.g. faults, earthquakes and dynamic loading) are presented in volcanoes nature. Collected samples are representative of four different classes of volcanic deposits: i) trachytic lava with abundant crystals; ii) pyroclastic deposits, with lava clasts and pumice elements with different sizes; iii) Green tuff, constructed prevalently by pumice clasts; and iv) ignimbrite deposits characterized by low density. Petrographical and chemical characteristics, in particular weathering indexes reveal large differences not only between lithotypes, but also between samples. These differences are well quantified by physical properties, in particular porosity and shear wave velocity values. Decay of the properties, well represented by regression analysis with significant correlation parameter (R2>85), is observed when average values of the compressive strength, tensile strength and Young’s modulus are compared with the average porosity value, fractal dimension and grade of alteration. Failure of rocks were well documented by the evolution of elastic properties, differences between each lithotype are discussed. Post-failure reconstruction of samples reveals that the nature of deformation is controlled by textural properties (e.g. grains, pores, and cement) and the behaviour strongly influences the response of the specimen. Anisotropy of rocks is clear represented by triaxial tests post-failure reconstruction, abrupt differences between fresh and altered samples are observed. Finally, a simplified 2-D numerical stress‐strain modelling was carried out in order to visualize the effects of rock properties degradation in volcanic flank failure. Modelling was aimed at clarifying the role of the altered volcanic rocks in the evolution of volcano stability. The results, in terms of maximum computed values of shear strain and displacements, show that degradation of rock properties is capable of defining and controlling large zones of instability.

Cette thèse fournit une description du développement des services climatiques au sein de Toulouse Métropole, en France. Ils sont articulés autour d'un réseau de stations météorologiques pour les études de micro-climatologie, en particulier l'analyse de la température de l'air et de l'îlot de chaleur urbain. Le premier axe s'emploie à décomposer les services climatiques à base de réseaux d'observations en objets distincts rattachés à des champs disciplinaires séparés mais en interaction. La démarche s'appuie sur une classification de la bibliographie et des travaux de l'Organisation Mondiale de Météorologie sur les services climatiques. Dans cette partie sont également expliqués le parti pris et la mise en place d'une dynamique de travail qui font appel aux méthodes relatives à la participation, et en particulier à la co-construction. Si l'axe premier présente un cadre théorique et méthodologique du travail de recherche-action, le second axe se veut être la mise en pratique. A savoir la transformation des différentes composantes d'un service climatique à base de réseau de mesures en une solution technique déployée et opérationnelle selon des normes et standards internationaux. Un focus est apporté sur le choix des sites de mesures à l'aide de cartographies thématiques et d'une campagne de mesures véhiculée. Le troisième axe, enfin, propose une analyse de l'îlot de chaleur du territoire Toulousain à partir des données mesurées par le réseau mis en place. L'îlot de chaleur est abordé sous l'angle classique de la dichotomie urbain/rural et selon des conditions météos optimales à sa formation. Dans un second temps est mobilisée l'approche des types de temps. Enfin une analyse spatiale plus fine est réalisée en mobilisant les Local Climate Zones (LCZ) avec un focus sur les zones d'activités (LCZ 8). Cette thèse propose ainsi une approche transversale et inter-disciplinaire de mise en œuvre d'un service climatique urbain, complétée d'une analyse territorialisée du climat urbain
This thesis provides a description of the development of climate services within Toulouse Métropole, France. They are articulated around a automated weather station network for micro-climatology studies, in particular the analysis of air temperature of the urban canopy heat island. The first one decomposes the climate services based on observation networks into distinct objects attached to separate and interacting disciplinary fields. The approach is based on a classification of the bibliography and the work of the World Meteorological Organization on climate services. This part also explains the volontee to mobilize methods relating to participation and in particular co-construction with the purpose to bring work flow and dynamic. While the first axis presents a theoretical, methodological framework for action-research work, the second axis is intended to be its practical application. In other words the transformation of the different components of a climate service based on a measurment network into a technical solution deployed and operational according to international norms and standards. A focus is brought on the choice of measurement sites with the help of thematic maps and a mobile measurement campaign. The third axis, finally, proposes an analysis of the heat island of the Toulouse territory from the data measured by the network. The heat island is approached from the classic angle of the urban/rural dichotomy and according to optimal weather conditions at its formation. In a second step, the approach of weather types is mobilized to deepen the analyses according to various types of weather conditions. Finally, a finer spatial analysis is carried out using Local Climate Zones (LCZ) with a focus on the activity zones (LCZ 8)

Abstract:
Abstract Precision and productivity are very important criteria for the evaluation of modular tool systems and require a thermally stable process with tolerances in the micrometer range. During the past decades there has been an increasing interest in compensating thermally induced errors. In this paper we investigate wheather a prediction of thermal displacement based on a nonlinear regression analysis is possible, namely using the alternating conditional expectation algorithm (ACE) introduced by Breiman and Friedman, 1985. The data we are analyzing were generated by two different finite element spindle models of modular tool systems. As the main result we find that the ACE-algorithm is a powerful tool to model the relation between temperatures and displacements. It could also be a promising approach to handle well-known hysteresis effects. Limitations of this study are the model restricted results, next our findings have to be validated on real data.

Abstract:
Road safety applications envisaged for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) depend largely on the exchange of messages to deliver information to concerned vehicles. Safety applications as well as inherent VANET characteristics make data dissemination an essential service and a challenging task. We are developing a decentralized efficient solution for broadcast data dissemination through two game-theoretical mechanisms. Besides, VANETs can also include autonomous vehicles (AVs). AVs might represent a revolutionary new paradigm that can be a reality in our cities in the next few years. AVs do not need a driver to work; instead, they should copy a proper human behavior to adapt the driving according to the current circumstances, such as speed limit, pedestrian crossing street or wheather conditions. We will develop an AV software module including artificial intelligence (AI) techniques so that AVs can interact with the dynamic scenario throughout time. Finally, we also will include electrical vehicles (EV) in the VANET, so that special services such as finding and reserving an EV charging station place will be welcome. In addition, we are developing a multimetric geographic routing protocol for VANETs to transmit H.265 video (traffic accident, traffic state, commercial….) over VANETs.
