Abstract:
Pre-marital guidance has become a regulation of the Ministry of Religion. With the aim of providing an understanding of domestic life in realizing a sakinah mawaddah wa rahmah family, and can minimize the occurrence of disputes, violence and even divorce. Bride and groom in East Balikpapan sub-district participated in a pre-wedding guidance program for initial debriefing for prospective brides at KUA provided by BP4 (Marriage Advisory, Guidance, and Preservation Agency). Through this program, the prospective bride and groom will be required to attend pre-wedding classes or guidance for approximately 16 hours of meetings to obtain a certificate which will later be used as a requirement when carrying out a marriage at the KUA. The KUA employee of East Balikpapan District agrees with the existence of pre-marital guidance. That way the bride and groom get education for their readiness, regardless of the assumption that people who are getting married do not need to take part in these activities. However, the optimality of pre-wedding guidance carried out at the KUA of East Balikpapan District is only like a supplement, sufficient but not optimal, in the implementation of pre-wedding debriefing there are still many shortcomings, such as short time and the material provided is also lacking in depth.

Abstract:
Marriage outside the KUA becomes polemic in itself when the culture that is considered alms by the community is different from the state's point of view. The wedding procession is a value in itself for the community so that the wedding procession is sometimes accompanied by customs and traditions so that the sacredness in marriage is seen and can be felt. This paper is an empirical study with a sociological approach. This approach is carried out to see and analyze the legal, cultural and social aspects of the practice of marriage processions carried out by the people of Malang City. This paper argues that the majority of residents prefer to hold a marriage contract outside the KUA. This is influenced by several factors, first; the sacred factor; Second, the ease of implementation factor; third, elements of customs and culture; fourth, avoiding bad prejudice from the community, so that many residents prefer to carry out the marriage contract outside the KUA rather than at the KUA.

AbstractMarriage is a holly and sacred bond. Hence, before getting married, spouses should make good preparations and considerations by having pre-wedding counseling in order that the marriage will be harmonious and long lasting without divorce ending. This is based on a field research on pre-wedding counseling known as suscatin held by KUA, Kec. Pontianak Timur, and that by GKKB Jemaat Pontianak. Both pre-marriage counseling programs are differently applied but they have common purposes: providing marital guidance, description, and preparation in order that spouses can maintain their harmonious marriage: sakinah, mawadah, and rahmah. Keywords: Pre-wedding Counseling, KUA Kec. Abstract:
This book examines how African-Guyanese in New York City participate in the Come to My Kwe-Kwe ritual to facilitate rediasporization, that is, the creation of a newer diaspora from an existing one. Since the fall of 2005, African-Guyanese in New York City have celebrated Come to My Kwe-Kwe (more recently called Kwe-Kwe Night) on the Friday evening before Labor Day. Come to My Kwe-Kwe is a reenactment of a uniquely African-Guyanese pre-wedding ritual called kweh-kweh, and sometimes referred to as karkalay, mayan, kweh-keh, and pele. A typical traditional (wedding-based) kweh-kweh has approximately ten ritual segments, which include the pouring of libation to welcome or appease the ancestors; a procession from the groom’s residence to the bride’s residence or central kweh-kweh venue; the hiding of the bride; and the negotiation of bride price. Each ritual segment is executed with music and dance, which allow for commentary on conjugal matters, such as sex, domestication, submissiveness, and hard work. Come to My Kwe-Kwe replicates the overarching segments of the traditional kweh-kweh, but a couple (male and female) from the audience acts as the bride and groom, and props simulate the boundaries of the traditional performance space, such as the gate and the bride’s home. This book draws on more than a decade of ethnographic research data and demonstrates how Come to My Kwe-Kwe allows African-Guyanese-Americans to negotiate complex, overlapping identities in their new homeland, by combining elements from the past and present and reinterpreting them to facilitate rediasporization and ensure group survival.

Abstract:
This chapter examines the traditional (wedding-based) kweh-kweh as an African retention or African continuity that developed among enslaved Africans in Guyana, South America. It also demonstrates the ways that traditional kweh-kweh indexes indigenous African rites of passage, such as Ïgba Nkwü, a wine-carrying ceremony practiced by the Igbos of Nigeria. Moreover, this chapter explores how African-Guyanese migration to the United States necessitated the reenactment of the traditional kweh-kweh, and thus, an invention of tradition in the form of Come to My Kwe-Kwe, also known as Kwe-Kwe Nite. This chapter further demonstrates how the African-Guyanese diaspora in the United States (African-Guyanese-Americans) is comprised of smaller interconnected factions or diasporas, such as the migrated diaspora, procreated diaspora, and affinal diaspora. It also demonstrates how the celebration of Come to My Kwe-Kwe serves to transition the African-Guyanese-American community from an imagined community to a tangible one that is uniquely African, Guyanese, and American.

Abstract:
The main theme of this paper is to evaluate the skin friction and unit skin friction of different types of pile on a defined model ground. The typical silica sands were selected to make model ground at high relative densities of 80% and 60% respectively at confining pressure of 50 kPa to perform the pile load test on selected two different model ground. Model ground has been prepared by free falling of sand through sieve on the chamber to meet the required relative densities. Relative densities have acquired after evaluating desired height and area of nozzle through which dry sands fall. To fulfill the requirement, different types of tapered piles were selected to perform the pile load test. Straight and different types of tapered pile have driven in silica sands respectively at relatively high densities. Experimental results have showed that the skin friction of straight pile is considerably low with compared to tapered pile and wedging effects can be clearly seen towards the depth of penetration. In conclusion, it is clearly seen that the skin friction of tapered pile can be improved with increasing tapering angles. Higher the angle the greater the skin friction. Further, lateral stresses around the pile increases laterally during loading. Lateral stresses are increased with increase on amounts of pile expansion. The skin frictions of tapered piles have pressing effect and soil tamping effect.
