Abstract:
Background Cancer survivors frequently report a range of unmet psychological and supportive care needs; these often continue after treatment has finished and are predictive of psychological distress and poor health-related quality of life. Web-based interventions demonstrate good efficacy in addressing these concerns and are more accessible than face-to-face interventions. Finding My Way (FMW) is a web-based, psycho-educational, and cognitive behavioral therapy intervention for cancer survivors developed in Australia. Previous trials have demonstrated that FMW is acceptable, highly adhered to, and effective in reducing the impact of distress on quality of life while leading to cost savings through health resource use reduction. Objective This study aims to adapt the Australian FMW website for a UK cancer care context and then undertake a single-blinded, randomized controlled trial of FMW UK against a treatment-as-usual waitlist control. Methods To an extent, our trial design replicates the existing Australian randomized controlled trial of FMW. Following a comprehensive adaptation of the web resource, we will recruit 294 participants (147 per study arm) from across clinical sites in North West England and North Wales. Participants will have been diagnosed with cancer of any type in the last 6 months, have received anticancer treatment with curative intent, be aged ≥16 years, be proficient in English, and have access to the internet and an active email address. Participants will be identified and recruited through the National Institute for Health Research clinical research network. Measures of distress, quality of life, and health economic outcomes will be collected using a self-report web-based questionnaire at baseline, midtreatment, posttreatment, and both 3- and 6-month follow-up. Quantitative data will be analyzed using intention-to-treat mixed model repeated measures analysis. Embedded semistructured qualitative interviews will probe engagement with, and experiences of using, FMW UK and suggestions for future improvements. Results The website adaptation work was completed in January 2021. A panel of cancer survivors and health care professionals provided feedback on the test version of FMW UK. Feedback was positive overall, although minor updates were made to website navigation, inclusivity, terminology, and the wording of the Improving Communication and Sexuality and Intimacy content. Recruitment for the clinical trial commenced in April 2021. We aim to report on findings from mid-2023. Conclusions Replication studies are an important aspect of the scientific process, particularly in psychological and clinical trial literature, especially in different geographical settings. Before replicating the FMW trial in the UK setting, content updating was required. If FMW UK now replicates Australian findings, we will have identified a novel and cost-effective method of psychosocial care delivery for cancer survivors in the United Kingdom. Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between atmospheric qualities with different levels of task relevance in luxury fashion brand web sites and their impact on consumer attitude toward the site and brand, which is essential to build valid strategies for e-retailing. Design/methodology/approach – An empirical study was conducted and quantitative analyses of 292 respondents’ shopping experiences yielded findings that confirm the impact of atmospherics upon the shopper’s views of the web site and the brand. Structural equation modeling was used to test the research hypotheses. Findings – Both low task-relevant atmospherics (web site design, responsive customer service) and high task-relevant atmospherics (product information, convenience) affect the consumers’ revisit intentions toward the web site, while web site design directly affected brand attitude. The study also illustrates the mediating roles of product information and convenience to the relationships between web site design and responsive customer service and the consumers’ revisit intentions toward the site. Practical implications – This study provides insights for luxury e-tailing. Luxury e-tailers should understand the different effects depending upon the types of web atmospheric qualities and use them strategically. Originality/value – The main contribution of the study is to highlight the unique aspects of luxury online shopping in the Korean context. This study also contributes to e-commerce research by providing an expanded understanding of the interrelationship between types of web atmospheric qualities.

Abstract:
Inform plays a very important role in life and nowadays, the world largely depends on the World Wide Web to obtain any information. Web comprises of a lot of websites of every discipline, whereas websites consists of web pages which are interlinked with each other with the help of hyperlinks. The success of a website largely depends on the design aspects of the web pages. Researchers have done a lot of work to appraise the web pages quantitatively. Keeping in mind the importance of the design aspects of a web page, this paper aims at the design of an automated evaluation tool which evaluate the aspects for any web page. The tool takes the HTML code of the web page as input, and then it extracts and checks the HTML tags for the uniformity. The tool comprises of normalized modules which quantify the measures of design aspects. For realization, the tool has been applied on four web pages of distinct sites and design aspects have been reported for comparison. The tool will have various advantages for web developers who can predict the design quality of web pages and enhance it before and after implementation of website without user interaction.

Abstract:
Recovery and reconstruction following major sociocultural upheavals, such as natural disasters and war, result in multiple changes. In addition to loss of life and property, social structures and ways of life are temporarily and sometimes permanently altered. Sources of change are both from within due to loss and damage as well as from the outside through new ideas, relief, and economic aid. Some aspects of change may be viewed positively, as a society measures the benefits, while still other aspects may be worthless or detrimental to the survival of the group.Because of the magnitude of the 1976 Guatemalan Earthquake, as well as the unprecedented outpouring of disaster relief and reconstruction aid, a longitudinal study funded by National Science Foundation was begun in 1977 (18 months after the event) and extended through 1982 (in selected areas). Chiefly because of financial expense, most research studies of disasters are limited to short-term follow-up studies of several weeks to a year after the traumatic event. However, many scientists have urged the importance of doing longitudinal studies (1–3). This study had as an overall goal, the study of the process of recovery over a five year period post-Earthquake. A quasiexperimental design was used to compare the recovery process in 19 experimental and 7 control sites. The overall guiding research question was: Does a catastrophy or social upheaval stimulate the recovery of the society so that the level of living post-disaster is higher than the pre-disaster state? Level of Living was operationalized to include housing conditions, cost of living, as well as quality of life measures. The results of a specific portion of the 1976 Guatemalan Earthquake Study (as it is popularly called), the urban resettlements, is presented in this paper.

Abstract:
Security and trust play a critical role in e-commerce transactions. Web sites project the trustworthiness of the business. In this regard, web design should take into account the user perceptions concerning security and trust in facilitating e-commerce. In this study, the authors focused on these two key aspects. Successful interaction with an e-commerce site depends on attracting and maintaining user’s trust of the web business. To assess the security and trust perception, the authors designed and surveyed more than 1000 college students, a major group supporting e-commerce. The authors developed three hypotheses concerning e-commerce web site design with respect to trust, security, and privacy. In this paper, the authors identify important user expectations with regard to web site design and test the hypotheses. As E-commerce is global, this analysis includes results from other countries besides the U.S.

Abstract:
The rapid IT development in the 21st century has a significant impact on scientific communications and research in all branches of modern science. Psychological science cannot stay aside this non-stop process. Indeed, the modern IT capabilities provide wide opportunities for psychological research in terms of speed, accuracy, volume and cross-culture perspective. The article describes theoretical, methodological and practical principles of design of websites for professional psychological diagnosis. Adherence to these principles ensures that the psychological diagnostic websites: 1) attract visitors and maintain the necessary level of their confidence and interest; 2) provide anonymity, clarity, convenience and ease of use; 3) have high informational value, content richness and scientific character; 4) differentiate the respondents and help receive feedback from them. The research methods used include the analysis of the national and foreign experience of IT use in psychological research, modelling and online psychological diagnosis organised on two psychological diagnostic websites with 26 psychological diagnostic methods and questionnaires. The detailed structure and developmental rules for diagnostic Internet sites are substantiated. A number of specific aspects concerning diagnostic Internet site application for professional psychological diagnosis are discussed. The scientific foundations developed by the authors for the use of remote professional psychological diagnosis have been successfully tested on two created psychological diagnostic websites http://prof-diagnost.org and http://hr-test.org and confirmed by the research carried out with their help. These sites are aimed at solving conceptually rather different research tasks. The first site has become the basis for fundamental research performed by different scientists, whereas the other has provided an opportunity to adapt 11 modern English-language psychological diagnostic techniques related to the diagnosis of occupational stress for their use in Ukraine.

Abstract:
IntroductionTraditionally, research and practice addressing mental health has been conducted within a unidimensional model, explaining mental health as the presence/absence of psychological problems (distress or psychopathological symptoms). More recently, accumulative evidence has supported a bi-dimensional model, which conceptualises psychological problems and psychological strengths (well-being) as related-yet-distinct continua that, when considered together, yields a more comprehensive understanding of individuals. The DetectaWeb Project is a web-based early detection assessment of the mental health continuum (MHC) for children and adolescents and aims to: develop a web-based platform for screening of the MHC, including both psychological problems (anxiety, depression and suicidality) and personal strengths (emotional, cognitive/psychological and social aspects); examine the prevalence of the MHC among children and adolescents; and analyse key determinants (risk and protective factors) of the MHC.Methods and analysisWe will conduct an ongoing, multicentre observational, cross-sectional study of Spanish children and adolescents. Participants will be assessed through a web-based platform. In order to validate the web-based screening system, a clinical reappraisal will be completed among a subsample of respondents. To elucidate youth’s levels of subjective distress and well-being, we will include measures of anxiety, depression, suicidality, well-being, externalising problems and socio-demographic variables.Ethics and disseminationEthical approval has been obtained at all sites. All participants will sign a free and informed consent form before the assessment. Results of the study will be communicated during national and international meetings in the field of clinical and health psychology with children and adolescents. Publications will be sought in journals usually read by psychologists or psychiatrists involved in the development of epidemiological studies and interventions for mental health promotion based on resilience building for children and adolescents.

Abstract:
The limited variety of learning media will create various learning problems. One of the problems that arise is the lack of motivation to learn and low learning outcomes. These problems can be overcome by developing learning media integrated with technology such as web-based learning. This study aims to produce web-based learning using Google Sites on Heat and Temperature topics for high school students. The media development used the 4D model with the following stages: 1) Define, 2) Design, 3) Develop. The design and development stages of the media involve experts who assess two aspects, namely material and media design. The average result of media expert's validation is "very feasible". The average effect of material expert validation is "feasible." Based on the validation results by experts, this media is feasible to be used as a learning medium that helps students learn Heat and Temperature topics. The weakness in this research was that the learning design on the developed media was not very relevant to the learning objectives and basic competencies. Researchers hope to develop a learning media with learning designs that are more relevant to learning objectives and basic competencies in the future.

In the context of a larger project whose purpose was to comparatively analyze the associations of returnees in different autonomous communities, the need arose to specifically analyze the websites of these groups from a semiotic, discursive and communicational approach. The project required the creation of an analysis model based on a bibliographic review that would allow studying the sites in a comprehensive manner and that would take into account the new communicational paradigms (web 3.0). After exploring analysis models based on obsolete paradigms (web 1.0 and web 2.0), this research shows the design and validation of a website analysis proposal, in which two perspectives are differentiated and correlated: the technical aspects of the cyber genre and its discursive characteristics.

Abstract:
Sport event tourism is a major component of sport related tourism in many countries. Sport event organizations should strive to develop Internet marketing communication that features event information relevant to potential sport tourists. Using the Psychological Continuum Model (PCM) as its theoretical framework, this article presents two studies examining information requirements for sport event Web sites and evaluating the impact of Web site communications on consumer motivation and attitudes toward the event. Study 1 first used an open-ended response listing exercise to identify 15 information themes that should be accessible on a sport event Web site (N= 54) and then demonstrated in a between-subjects experimental design that providing these information themes increased satisfaction with the Web site (N= 40). Study 2 used a within-subjects experimental design to reveal that provision of these information themes had no impact on travel motives, but did increase favorable attitudes toward a sport event and intention to attend the event (N= 39). This research provides evidence that Web site marketing communication does activate attitude change within consumers, as well as empirical support for attitude change within the PCM framework. Findings highlight the potential strategic use of Web site communication for sport event organizers to enhance consumer attitudes toward the event and increase attendance.

Abstract:
In 2009. Sodexo in partnership with Aberdeen University’s psychologists conducted a major study about worldwide oil and gas workers. This study focused on psychological and physiological aspects of living in remotes sites and degradation of health and wellbeing status: obesity, addiction, and psychological problems. It was found that these factors are related to quality of life and have an influence on the organisation with a clear link to increased turnover and absenteeism, higher overall health care costs, a potential increase in safety risk, and lower levels of employee engagement. The survey’s insights demonstrated that improving the quality of life of oil and gas workers required the design of an innovative solution for both working periods during the rotation working time and at home (the rest periods). This resulted in Sodexo developing Well Track, a program consisting of three modules: Fit2. a dedicated coach creates a tailored wellness program for each participant—at work and at home. Motivation: individual progress is monitored and a reward system contributes to driving their health and wellness improvements. Home away: workers and their families benefit from a 24/7 virtual concierge service that support their work-life balance. Well Track has been piloted with success in the North Sea with Dolphin Drling. A follow-up study by the University of Aberdeen noted measurable improvements in reported levels of exercise, healthier eating, recreation activities, and the satisfaction of workers with their health and well-being.

One of these concerns the impact of SNS use on mental health and well-being, a question that has been pursued in depth by scholars in the psychological sciences and the field of human-computer interaction. Despite this attention, the design choices made in the development of SNSs and the notion of well-being employed to evaluate such systems require further scrutiny. In this viewpoint paper, we examine the strategic design choices made in our development of an enclosed SNS for young people experiencing mental ill-health in terms of ethical and persuasive design and in terms of how it fosters well-being. In doing so, we critique the understanding of well-being that is used in much of the existing literature to make claims about the impact of a given technology on well-being. We also demonstrate how the holistic concept of eudaimonic well-being and ethical design of SNSs can complement one another.

Abstract:
Despite the growth of empirical evidence in this field, little review research exists that assesses the theoretical aspects, marketing drivers, and consequences of market mavens. In this study, therefore, a systematic literature review (SLR) was utilized to perform a thorough analysis of market maven literature, encompassing articles published over 23 years on the Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals. It was found that the social and psychological aspects had not been widely explored and remained the weakest pillar. The results highlight that the theory of planned behavior has been the most commonly applied theory in the literature, as it has been used in six studies. Moreover, there is a very limited understanding of the existing literature's psychological and motivational characteristics and their role in cyber-market mavenism. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first SLR that addresses market maven literature. This research offers a comprehensive study agenda that focuses on various critical areas that need more consideration, such as the cultural role of market mavens and the differentiation between the roles of market mavens and non-mavens in sharing information on social network sites. Scholars might also look at the influence of the generational difference between people and whether or not placing an age or gender limit on people is important in terms of the nature of social networks. Abstract:
The urban heat island (UHI) effect is among the most critical issues caused by human activities and high building density. UHI has severe impacts on the urban and natural environment as well as on human health and wellbeing. The research presented here aims at evaluating the effects of nature-based solutions (NBS) in improving the livability of a district in the city of Genoa, which is heavily cemented and a major example of the heat island phenomenon. This study focuses on the microclimatic benefits of urban heat island mitigation as well as on psychological and perceptual aspects. A preliminary analysis of the district through CFD simulations using Envi-met software allowed for selection of the most suitable areas for a system of punctual interventions in urban regeneration using nature-based solutions. For each area identified, we simulated the effects of different design scenarios on microclimate mitigation and thermal comfort improvement. In addition, to evaluate the perceptual benefits of the most well-performing design scenarios, we set up a web-based survey that was administered to a convenience sample of Genoa residents. In terms of aesthetic satisfaction and perception of improved conditions of physical and psychological well-being, the preferred design outcomes were those which emphasized a freer and more natural environment. This study shows that nature-based solutions can improve the overall conditions of dense urban areas; microclimate performance and psychological effects should be both considered in the design process in order to improve the wellbeing of urban citizens.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present an empirical assessment of the diffusion of advertising messages on microblogging sites. The diffusion properties of advertising messages are quantified based on the following three aspects: diffusion breadth, depth, and speed. Furthermore, this study examines the influence of message- and advertiser-level factors on the diffusion of advertising messages. Design/methodology/approach – The study data comprises 20,000 advertising messages that are randomly drawn from a popular microblogging web site in China. Five message-level factors and four advertiser-level factors are constructed based on the information retrieved from the microblogging web site. Generalized linear modeling is adopted to examine the effects of such factors on the diffusion properties of advertising messages. Findings – The positive driving forces underlying the diffusion of advertising messages on microblogging sites include message length, the advertisers’ in-degrees, and their reputation. The diffusion of advertising messages is hampered by typicality, affectivity, the completeness of the information of the advertising messages, and advertisers’ out-degrees. Practical implications – To achieve optimal diffusion on microblogging sites, advertisers should select the appropriate time windows for releasing advertising messages. Moreover, advertisers should actively increase the number of fans, use less typical and less emotional words in advertising messages, and eliminate unnecessary URLs in such messages. Originality/value – This study contributes to the diffusion theory by identifying the mixed effects of different information attributes on the diffusion of advertising messages on microblogging sites, and examining the roles of advertisers’ structural characteristics in the diffusion of advertising messages. Furthermore, the results illustrate how consumers cope with the advertisers’ sales presentations on microblogging sites.

Abstract:
Three face-to-face focus groups that included 24 online poker players were conducted in Stockholm to investigate their motivations for playing online poker and issues relating to their trust of poker Web sites. Casual players played because they liked the convenience, the ease of learning, the low stake size, the relief from boredom, and the social interactions. "Professional" players played to win money and utilised several features of the online game for psychological tactics. They also tended to play several tables at once. Factors that affected how much a player would trust an online poker Web site included the size and reputation of the operator, the speed with which winnings were paid out, the clarity of the Web site design, the technical reliability of the service, and the accessibility and effectiveness of the customer service. Responsible gaming measures also increased levels of trust by demonstrating company integrity and by reducing anxiety about winning from other players. The findings indicate that providing a safe online environment with effective responsible gaming measures may be much more than just a moral and regulatory requirement. Players in this study suggested that such features are sometimes necessary in order to achieve an enjoyable gaming experience. Consequently, responsible gaming initiatives and good business practice do not have to be mutually exclusive. Indeed, in this particular scenario, they might even be considered mutually dependent. This project was funded by Svenska Spel, the operators of the Swedish National Lottery. Other than agreeing to the research question, Svenska Spel had no say in how the research was carried out, the results that were reported, the conclusions that were drawn, or the editing of the report.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to present an analysis of the studies existing in domestic and foreign science of the necessary age-related "correction" of the color of the educational environment for older people, carried out in respect of the fact that chromatic communication is not limited exclusively to biological reactions, but its structure, in addition to perceptual one, includes much more significant psychological mechanisms and semiotic levels. The selection of research sources was carried out through the RSCI, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science systems. In total, 63 full texts of articles published between 1999 and 2019 were analyzed. In the process of work, the methods of theoretical and comparative analysis, systematization and generalization of the material were used. The analysis made it possible to distinguish three groups of research. The first group includes works that present the physiological prerequisites for the necessary changes in the chromatic design of the educational space intended for older people. The second group of studies analyzes various aspects of the impact of the color of the educational environment on older people in a psychological connotation. The third group involves the socio-cultural aspects of the formation of the educational environment for older people and analyzes this phenomenon in terms of connection with the lifestyle, way of thinking, physical and emotional-intellectual activity, and social conditions of the aging person. The results of the study convince that color correction in an educational environment designed for older people can cause noticeable changes in the quality of learning at several levels at once – biological (increasing the availability of information and significantly reducing physiological barriers to perception), psychological (supporting and strengthening the processes of memorization and information processing, increasing the psychological comfort of the educational environment), and social (improving the quality of life of older people).

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyze drivers for the proactive disclosure of information via the web in Colombian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as a strategy for fostering their legitimacy and responding to the institutional pressure to which they are subjected. Design/methodology/approach – The web sites of 196 NGOs from Colombia have been analyzed, first, via an Online Transparency Index that is consistent with Cronbach α coefficient and later, by performing a Tobit regression analysis. Findings – The proactive online disclosure of information in Colombian NGOs is very low. In spite of the high distrust of the resource management they receive, the financial information is the least aspect disclosed in their web pages. In addition, the larger NGOs are the entities that most disclose information via their web site. Likewise, the factors of “internationalization”, “donations”, “community services” and “dependence on voluntary work” show a positive effect on certain aspects of the online disclosure of information analyzed. Practical implications – The lack of web use as a strategy for a proactive disclosure of information is clearly observed. Therefore, both obligatory and voluntary accountability mechanisms should be more aware of the need for fostering the benefits of a web site, as being transparent in a proactive manner will increase trust in this sector. Originality/value – As the majority of the research papers related to online disclosure are focused on the corporate and public sector, this study addresses the issue of the NGO sector and particularly aims to contribute to the scarce literature regarding web use of entities from developing countries.

Abstract:
INTRODUCTION The Internet is frequently used as a source of medical information by patients. There is no shortage of quantity of information on the Internet. Most studies have concentrated on the content of information provided by orthopaedic websites. This study aims to assess all aspects of website construction, using total hip replacement (THR) as an example. MATERIALS AND METHODS Using the search term ‘total hip replacement’, we evaluated the top 50 results from 4 popular search engines. A detailed evaluation of these sites was carried out and data recorded on authorship, readability (Flesch score), authority, currency, information status, information value, information quality, graphics and design, navigation, speed and access. These were individually scored using the University of Michigan Consumer Health WebSite Checklist. RESULTS From the 200 web pages, 167 unique Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) were recorded. Of these, 55 provided patient information about THR and were evaluated fully. Of websites, 62% originated in the US. The authorship of the majority of websites was described as commercial (28%) or academic/physician (49%). Website evaluation showed that content, navigation, graphics and speed were good. However, authority, currency, information status, information quality and ease of reading scored poorly. DISCUSSION Most of the sites visited presented adequate information about THR. However, the manner in which this information was presented is poor.

Abstract:
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19), identified within the Wuhan, Hubei Province of China in November 2019, needs distinct attention because of its fatal nature. The spreading of any infectious diseases is generally prevented by quarantine and containment or locking down of the populations in danger. Countries suffering from COVID-19 are declaring the country lockdown and restricting public movement. India also has declared full lockdown and restricted public movement to a large extent. Such drastic steps have a severe psychological impact on populations. Being locked up for weeks in a very confined space with the same group of individuals being depressed, nervous, and tired, which is further aggravating various domestic and interpersonal issues. A web-based survey was formed which supported a cross-sectional sampling method and collected data across different working-class population groups in India. The responders had a beginner level of knowledge about the COVID-19 infection and adequate knowledge about its preventive aspects was unknown. Results indicate that 13% of the respondents experienced severe anxiety, 11% moderate anxiety, and 28% are mildly anxious. The results suggest that governments should find effective ways to disseminate unbiased COVID-19 knowledge to reduce population insecurity and provide the best mental equipment to cope with the pandemic.

Abstract:
This article is devoted to the analysis of the results of theoretical and applied research of gender aspects of the "hidden curriculum" at the level of secondary educational institution. It is determined that the Ukrainian education system declares the importance of gender equality, proclaims the development of gender-oriented education, but gender stereotypes are often reproduced in practice of educational activities, certain gender roles and patterns of thinking, social expectations, ways of behaving are imposed, that is, the gender aspects of the "hidden curriculum" are implemented. The article presents an analysis of gender aspects of such structural elements of the "hidden curriculum" as the educational environment of a secondary school; the content of education; interpersonal communication in the learning process. In the study of the components of the "hidden curriculum" were used: gender analysis of the educational institution with the calculation of the index of gender parity; web application (Voyant Tools) for analysis of school documentation; questionnaires, interviews, surveys to identify gender stereotypes and segregation by gender; gender expertise of textbooks in certain fields of gender analysis; gender expertise of lessons. The analysis of the results of the survey of teachers and gender expertise of lessons showed manifestations of "hidden curriculum" among educators. Gender stereotypes about the "sexuality" of human qualities and psychological traits were revealed; rejection of feminine gender-specific job title and gendered educational space; support for various programs for girls and boys on labor training (Design and technology). Although the vast majority of educators consider achieving gender equality a pressing issue, they acknowledge their ignorance of the "hidden curriculum" and are willing to work with gender experts. The results of the survey of the students in 5-8 grades also confirmed the presence of gender stereotypes in the communication of teachers with the students; the dominance of students' sympathies for various subjects; found gender stereotypes regarding the use of free time. Gender examination of textbooks revealed a small number of gender stereotypes and showed positive changes in terms of gender equality and sensitivity in the new textbooks.

Abstract:
The soundscape is defined by the International Standard Organization (ISO) 12913-1 as the human’s perception of the acoustic environment, in context, accompanying physiological and psychological responses. Previous research is synthesized with studies designed to investigate soundscape at the ‘unconscious’ level in an effort to more specifically conceptualize biomarkers of the soundscape. This review aims firstly, to investigate the consistency of methodologies applied for the investigation of physiological aspects of soundscape; secondly, to underline the feasibility of physiological markers as biomarkers of soundscape; and finally, to explore the association between the physiological responses and the well-founded psychological components of the soundscape which are continually advancing. For this review, Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and PsycINFO were searched for peer-reviewed articles published in English with combinations of the keywords ‘soundscape’, ‘environmental noise/sound’, ‘physiology/physiological’, ‘psychology/psychological’, and ‘perceptual attributes/affective/subjective assessment/appraisals’. Previous research suggests that Electrocardiography (ECG) and Vectorcardiography (VCG) biometrics quantifying Heart Rate (HR), stimulus-locked experimental design, and passive listening with homogeneous populations are predominantly applied to characterize the psychophysiology underlying the soundscape. Pleasantness and arousal are the most frequent psychological descriptors for soundscape subjective appraisals. Likewise, acoustic environments are reported to inconsistently evoke physiological responses with great variability among studies. The link between the perceptual attributes and physiological responses of soundscape vary within and among existing literature. While a few studies detected a link between physiological manifestations of soundscape and the perceptual attributes, the others failed to validate this link. Additionally, the majority of the study findings were limited to one or two physiological responses.

Abstract:
Background The decline in the well-being among university students well as increasing dropouts has become a serious issue in universities around the world. Thus, effective ways to support students’ well-being and their ability to study are highly needed. Objective The purpose of this study was to build an intervention course for university students, which promotes both students’ well-being as well as their learning and study skills, and to describe the experimental study design that explores the effects of this intervention course. Methods Research has shown that psychological flexibility has a great effect on the well-being as well as the study skills of students pursuing higher education. The basis of our intervention course was to promote psychological flexibility and students’ study skills with the help of peer support and reflection. Results This course was offered as a voluntary course to all the students at the University of Helsinki twice during the academic year 2020-2021. The first course was from October to December and the second course was from January to March. This course was advertised in fall 2020 through social media and by different student organizations and program leaders at different faculties of the University of Helsinki. As of October 2020, we enrolled 566 students comprising 310 students for the course in fall 2020 and 256 students for the course in spring 2021. Of the 256 students who enrolled in the second course, 170 students voluntarily participated in this study and they answered the questionnaires, including all the measures, simultaneously with the participants in the first group and thus served as the control group. The effect of this course will be measured with multiple data, including questionnaire data, reflective journals, and physiological data of well-being with a longitudinal experimental design. This research very strictly follows the ethical guidelines drawn up by the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity. We expect to publish the results of this study in fall 2021 at the latest. Conclusions We argue that a web-based, 8-week intervention course, which promotes both student well-being and their study skills, is a good way to support students pursuing higher education, and both aspects should be considered when supporting university students. Background. Spinal cord injury (SCI) is often associated with long-term impairments related to functional limitations in the sensorimotor system. The use of virtual reality (VR) technology may lead to increased motivation and engagement, besides allowing a wide range of possible tasks/exercises to be implemented in rehabilitation programs. The present review aims to investigate the possible benefits and efficacy of VR-based rehabilitation in individuals with SCI. Methods. An electronically systematic search was performed in multiple databases (PubMed, BVS, Web of Science, Cochrane Central, and Scielo) up to May 2019. MESH terms and keywords were combined in a search strategy. Two reviewers independently selected the studies in accordance with eligibility criteria. The PEDro scale was used to score the methodological quality and risk of bias of the selected studies. Results. Twenty-five studies (including 482 participants, 47.6 ± 9.5 years, 73% male) were selected and discussed. Overall, the studies used VR devices in different rehabilitation protocols to improve motor function, driving skills, balance, aerobic function, and pain level, as well as psychological and motivational aspects. A large amount of heterogeneity was observed as to the study design, VR protocols, and outcome measures used. Only seven studies (28%) had an excellent/good quality of evidence. However, substantial evidence for significant positive effects associated with VR therapy was found in most of the studies (88%), with no adverse events (88%) being reported. Conclusion. Although the current evidence is limited, the findings suggest that VR-based rehabilitation in subjects with SCI may lead to positive effects on aerobic function, balance, pain level, and motor function recovery besides improving psychological/motivational aspects. Further high-quality studies are needed to provide a guideline to clinical practice and to draw robust conclusions about the potential benefits of VR therapy for SCI patients. Background: The SARS-Cov-2 pandemic has had a profound impact on all aspects of life in the global population, causing above other, psychological problems. Aims: The objective of this study was to evaluate the mental health of the Poles during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional web-based survey design was adopted. The study horizon was from 1 June 2021, to 31 December 2021. An anonymous, standardized questionnaire was disseminated electronically by means of social media among Polish adults. The following tests were performed: Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21), and the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Results: A total of 1306 individuals completed the survey. Of the participants, 77.79% were female at a mean age of 34.89 ± (14.79), 62.25% had higher education, and 56.43% were employed. The prevalence of depression, anxiety, stress, and sleep disturbances in this sample were as follows: 50.38%, 43.49%, 61.26%, and 44.74%, respectively. Poor self-estimated health status, the presence of comorbidities, and regular use of nicotine significantly increased the risk of any of the analyzed psychiatric symptoms and sleep disorders. The depression level was significantly associated with age, living alone, health status, and the use of nicotine. Moreover, the level of anxiety was significantly associated with age and health status. The level of stress depended on gender, age, health status, use of nicotine, and being vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2. Sleep disturbances depended on age, health status, the presence of comorbidities, and regular use of drugs. Conclusions: The Polish population manifested numerous psychological symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a need to afford psychological support to them and ensure their mental health.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this research is to analyze the shifting perceptions of international tourists to Jeju Island and provide practical lessons to the tourism industry. Specifically, in regard to three United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) natural World Heritage sites in Jeju, this research measures the most salient topics mentioned by tourists to inform a more accurate perception of the island’s most valuable natural assets as reported by tourism experiences. Design/methodology/approach This study used a Web crawler to gather over 1,500 English language reviews from international tourists from a famous travel information website. The collected data were then preprocessed for stemming and lemmatization. After this, the processed text data were analyzed through a latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA)-based topic modeling approach to identify the most prominent clusters of ideas mentioned and represent them visually through graphs, tables and charts. Findings The findings from this research suggest that there are ten identifiable topics. Topics focusing on “adventure,” “summits” and “winter” showed noticeable increases, whereas topics focusing on “sunrise peak” and “UNESCO” have decreased over time. There is a trend for international tourists to be ever more conscious of the adventurous and rugged aspects of Jeju, and the novelty of mentioning UNESCO status seems to have worn off. Furthermore, there is the proclivity for tourists to mention “worth” and “enjoy” more as time goes on. Originality/value This study applies LDA-based topic modeling and LDAvis using user-generated online reviews with time-series analyses. Consequently, it provides unique insights into the changing perceptions of ecotourism on Jeju today, as well as contribution to smart tourism fields.

Abstract:
Background: There is a lack of knowledge of the psychosocial wellbeing and attributes of Paralympic athletes. Such knowledge may reveal what contributes to exceptional performance. Objectives: To systematically review the literature on psychosocial wellbeing and attributes of the Paralympic athlete. Study Design: Systematic literature review. Methods: Five key databases that index psychosocial literature were searched: CINAHL, ISI Web of Science, MEDLINE, PsycINFO and SportsDiscus. Results: Sixteen papers were found that met the inclusion criteria. The studies were characterised by heterogeneity of design, sample characteristics, outcome assessment and outcomes examined. The emerging thematic areas are 1) participation, motivations and goals; 2) mental imagery; 3) stress and coping; 4) personality; 5) attitudes towards other disabled-bodied athlete groups; 6) knowledge and attitudes towards doping; and 7) transitions to retirement. Conclusions: Relative to the biomechanical aspects of the Paralympian, the psychosocial literature remains limited and diffuse. Nonetheless an understanding of the psychosocial profile of these athletes complements the extant physiological and technological knowledge in enabling a holistic view of what contributes to the successful Paralympic athlete and may facilitate the team working to optimize performance and wellbeing in these high-performing individuals. Clinical relevance An understanding of the psychological profile of the Paralympic athlete complements the extant physiological and technological knowledge in enabling a holistic view of what contributes to the successful athlete and may facilitate optimizing performance and wellbeing.

Abstract:
In today’s world, social media is playing an indispensable role on the learning behavior of university students to achieve sustainable education. The impact of social media on sustainable education is becoming an essential and impelling factor. The world has become a global village and technology use has made it a smaller world through social media and how it is changing instruction. This original study is amongst the few to perform a focalized investigation on revealing the relationship between positive and negative characteristics of social media and the learning attitude of university students for sustainable education. However, this study aims to examine the constructive and adverse factors that impact on students’ minds and how these helped students to share positive and negative aspects with others. It is increasingly noticeable that social networking sites and their applications present enormous benefits for as well as risks to university students and their implications on students’ psychological adjustment or learning behaviors are not well understood. This study adapted the cluster sampling method, and respondents participated from five selected regions. Researchers distributed 1013 questionnaires among the targeted sample of university students with an age range of 16 to 35 years, and they collected 831 complete/valid responses. This study applied the social gratification theory to examine students’ behavior practicing social media usage. This study specifically identified 18 adversarial and constructive factors of social media from the previous literature. The findings revealed that the usage of social media in Pakistan has a negative influence on a student’s behavior as compared to positive aspects. Results may not be generalized to the entire student community as findings are specific to the specific respondents only. This study presents a relationship between antithetical and creative characteristics of social media and exhibits avenues for future studies by facilitating a better understanding of web-based social network use.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to analyze and identify the main trends in computer game advertising and its design. Research of functional and visual features of the design of certain types of Internet advertising. Methodology. The research methodology is based on a systematic analysis of scientific works mainly thematically related to Internet advertising and the features of its design for different platforms. Visual analytical, comparative, and monographic methods of scientific analysis of sources are used in this paper. Results. The current trends in advertising, which are most relevant for the gaming industry today, were studied. Therefore greater emphasis has been placed on the three most popular and relevant to the game field types of online advertising and their graphic design features. Based on the analysis of scientific works and responses from people on Internet sites, a significant interest in Internet advertising was found in contrast to traditional form of advertising, namely the banner, video advertising and blogging. The features, advantages, and disadvantages of each of these types of online advertising have been identified. It has been clarified which aspects in the design of these types of advertising are important. The reasons for the success of the use of these types of online advertising in the field of games and their psychological impact on the consumer are analyzed. The importance of the right approach to the design of these types of advertising is determined. Scientific novelty of the research lies in summarizing previous research on this topic and identifying the features of certain types of online advertising, structuring information about the advantages and disadvantages of each, identifying the design features of each type, as well as analyzing the reasons for their success in gaming and the role of graphic design in this. Practical significance. Research materials can be used as a theoretical basis for the creation of projects related to computer games advertising. Researched information and scientific materials of various authors allowed us to create an informative article, the content of which can be useful in developing appropriate design projects and choosing the direction of advertising for them.

Abstract:
Purpose Social media usage has become ubiquitous in our society – consumers are spending upwards of 20 percent of their media time on social sites interacting with friends, family and brands (Adler, 2016) and all of this usage is driving fatigue. The purpose of this paper is to examine how advertising factors such as attitude and intrusiveness impact social media fatigue as well as two consumer behavior factors, fear of missing out (FOMO) and privacy. Design/methodology/approach A 190-item questionnaire was developed and administered to an opt-in subject pool recruited for web-based research (i.e. online panel). A representative sample of 750 US social media users was recruited for the survey of which 518 respondents were valid and usable. Findings Results indicate that FOMO has the greatest impact on social media fatigue, not advertising factors as predicted. In addition, privacy concerns continue to plague consumers and should be monitored by advertisers. Research limitations/implications With regard to limitation, the survey contained a variety of self-reported measures that can tend to be under-reported, especially when it comes to social media usage as evidenced in a recent study (Adler, 2016). Originality/value This research undertook an investigation of consumer perceptions of social media advertising and how those relate to social media fatigue and psychological factors such as privacy and FOMO. In looking at these constructs, a clearer picture of how consumer perceptions of advertising impact levels of social media fatigue has emerged. In addition, the results provide a better understanding of FOMO, a psychological factor that significantly contributes to social media fatigue.

Abstract:
A Review of: Chua, A. Y. K., & Goh, D. H. (2010). A study of Web 2.0 applications in library websites. Library & Information Science Research, 32(3), 203-211. Objective – To determine the prevalence and use of web 2.0 applications in library websites and to determine whether or not their presence enhances the quality of the sites. Design – Content analysis. Setting – Public and academic libraries in North America, Europe, and Asia. Subjects – A total of 120 academic and public library websites in English. Methods – This study identified and selected library websites from academic and public libraries using a combination of directories, ratings reports, and ranking lists from three geographic regions. Over a four-month period in 2009, three coders conducted a three-step content analysis of the selected library websites. This analysis was conducted after having established inter-coder reliability using Cohen’s Kappa and analytic procedure familiarity, using a randomly selected pilot set of 30 library websites. The remaining 90 websites were evenly distributed among the three coders for analysis. They determined whether web 2.0 applications were present, examined how those applications were used, and gave an overall appraisal of website quality. Coders inspected library website links, conducted site searches, used search engines, and searched within major social networking sites to determine the presence of web 2.0 applications. A quality framework classification scheme was used during coding to identify how the web 2.0 applications were being used within library websites. This framework was established around four dimensions of library services: information acquisition (blogs and wikis), information dissemination (Rich Site Summary, or “RSS”), information organization (social tagging), and information sharing (social networking and instant messaging). A five-point Likert scale was also used in concert with a website quality evaluation framework to assess the quality of the library websites. This framework included three aspects of website quality: system quality, information quality, and service quality. A combination of statistical techniques such as Chi-square analysis, Cramer’s V, analysis of variance, Tukey’s statistic, and multiple regression were then used to analyze the findings. Main Results – Web 2.0 applications have been adopted by libraries across North America, Europe, and Asia. The most popular web 2.0 applications were blogs (56.6%), RSS (50%), and instant messaging services (46.6%) while less prevalent were social networking services (20%), wikis (16.6%), and social tagging applications (16.6%). The extent of libraries’ adoption of web 2.0 applications also varied according to region. North American libraries used all web 2.0 applications most consistently and were more attuned to heavier users, particularly with regard to information sharing applications (e.g., instant messaging, social networking). European libraries lagged behind those in Asia in embracing information acquisition applications (e.g., blogs, wikis) but were comparable to other regions. Social networking services and instant messaging were strongly associated with region; RSS, blogs, and social tagging showed moderate to moderately strong associations; and only wikis did not demonstrate a statistically significant association with region. This study also identified how web 2.0 applications were being used. Blogs were used to generate interest, engage users, and endear users to library personnel, while wikis culled resources from users thematically. RSS feeds communicated news, events or resource updates, and were also used in combination with library blogs. Social tagging invited users to save, organize, and share information, while some websites used librarian-generated tags for search and discovery or included them as tag clouds in library blogs. Instant messaging was used to assist users synchronously during scheduled timeslots; meanwhile, social networking sites offered alternate channels to communicate and build connections with users. The authors found a relationship between website quality and the presence of web 2.0 applications based on the criteria presented in their quality evaluation framework. Applications facilitating information sharing (i.e., social networks and instant messaging) had a stronger influence on a website’s overall quality than those being used for information acquisition and dissemination (i.e., RSS, wikis, and blogs). Web 2.0 applications among academic and public libraries shared a similar level of presence on the library websites; therefore, the type of library is not associated with the quality of the library website. North American websites tended to be higher in quality than European or Asian library websites, and differences in quality between European and Asian sites were insignificant. Conclusion – This study reveals that libraries in various geographic regions adopt web 2.0 applications differently. Web 2.0 applications in library websites enhance users’ experience with library resources and support their interests. Library websites are implementing web 2.0 applications in a myriad of ways, including using these applications in concert with one another to increase user engagement. The presence of web 2.0 applications strongly affects service quality but only weakly influences information quality.

Abstract:
Background Systemic sclerosis (SSc), or scleroderma, is a rare disease that often results in significant disruptions to activities of daily living and can negatively affect physical and psychological well-being. Because there is no known cure, SSc treatment focuses on reducing symptoms and disability and improving health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Self-management programs are known to increase self-efficacy for disease management in many chronic diseases. The Scleroderma Patient-centered Intervention Network (SPIN) developed a Web-based self-management program (SPIN self-management; SPIN-SELF) to increase self-efficacy for disease management and to improve HRQoL for patients with SSc. Objective The proposed study aims to assess the feasibility of conducting a full-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) of the SPIN-SELF program by evaluating the trial implementation processes, required resources and management, scientific aspects, and participant acceptability and usage of the SPIN-SELF program. Methods The SPIN-SELF feasibility trial will be conducted via the SPIN Cohort. The SPIN Cohort was developed as a framework for embedded pragmatic trials using the cohort multiple RCT design. In total, 40 English-speaking SPIN Cohort participants with low disease management self-efficacy (Self-Efficacy for Managing Chronic Disease Scale score ≤7), who have indicated interest in using a Web-based self-management program, will be randomized with a 3:2 ratio into the SPIN-SELF program or usual care for 3 months. Feasibility outcomes include trial implementation processes, required resources and management, scientific aspects, and patient acceptability and usage of the SPIN-SELF program. Results Enrollment of the 40 participants occurred between July 5, 2019, and July 27, 2019. By November 25, 2019, data collection of trial outcomes was completed. Data analysis is underway, and results are expected to be published in 2020. Conclusions The SPIN-SELF program is a self-help tool that may improve disease-management self-efficacy and improve HRQoL in patients with SSc. The SPIN-SELF feasibility trial will ensure that trial methodology is robust, feasible, and consistent with trial participant expectations. The results will guide adjustments that need to be implemented before undertaking a full-scale RCT of the SPIN-SELF program. International Registered Report Identifier (IRRID) DERR1-10.2196/16799

Abstract:
Background: Revealing the subcellular location of a newly discovered protein can bring insight into their function and guide research at the cellular level. The experimental methods currently used to identify the protein subcellular locations are both time-consuming and expensive. Thus, it is highly desired to develop computational methods for efficiently and effectively identifying the protein subcellular locations. Especially, the rapidly increasing number of protein sequences entering the genome databases has called for the development of automated analysis methods. Methods: In this review, we will describe the recent advances in predicting the protein subcellular locations with machine learning from the following aspects: i) Protein subcellular location benchmark dataset construction, ii) Protein feature representation and feature descriptors, iii) Common machine learning algorithms, iv) Cross-validation test methods and assessment metrics, v) Web servers. Result & Conclusion: Concomitant with a large number of protein sequences generated by highthroughput technologies, four future directions for predicting protein subcellular locations with machine learning should be paid attention. One direction is the selection of novel and effective features (e.g., statistics, physical-chemical, evolutional) from the sequences and structures of proteins. Another is the feature fusion strategy. The third is the design of a powerful predictor and the fourth one is the protein multiple location sites prediction.

Abstract:
Different aspects of attention can be assessed through psychological tests to identify stable individual or group differences as well as alterations after interventions. Aiming for a wide applicability of attentional assessments, Psychology Experiment Building Language (PEBL) is an open-source software system for designing and running computerized tasks that tax various attentional functions. Here, we evaluated the reliability and validity of computerized attention tasks as provided with the PEBL package: Continuous Performance Task (CPT), Switcher task, Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT), Mental Rotation task, and Attentional Network Test. For all tasks, we evaluated test-retest reliability using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), as well as internal consistency through within-test correlations and split-half ICC. Across tasks, response time scores showed adequate reliability, whereas scores of performance accuracy, variability, and deterioration over time did not. Stability across application sites was observed for the CPT and Switcher task, but practice effects were observed for all tasks except the PVT. We substantiate convergent and discriminant validity for several task scores using between-task correlations and provide further evidence for construct validity via associations of task scores with attentional and motivational assessments. Taken together, our results provide necessary information to help design and interpret studies involving attention assessments.

Abstract:
Background The Pediatric Quality of Life and Evaluation of Symptoms Technology Response to Pediatric Oncology Symptom Experience (PQ-Response) intervention aims to integrate specialized pediatric palliative care into the routine care of children, adolescents, and young adults (AYAs) with advanced cancer. Aims To evaluate whether PQ-Response, compared to usual care, improves patient’s health related quality of life (HRQoL) and symptom burden (aim 1), parent psychological distress and symptom-related stress (aim 2), and family and symptom treatment activation (aim 3). Design Multisite, randomized (1:1), controlled, un-blinded, effectiveness trial comparing PediQUEST Response (intervention) vs usual cancer care (control). Setting Five US large, tertiary level pediatric cancer centers. Participants Children (≥2 years old)/AYAs who receive care at any of the participating sites because of advanced cancer or any progressive/recurrent solid or brain tumor and are palliative care “naïve.” Target: 200 enrolled patient-parent dyads (minimum goal: 136 dyads randomized, N = 68/arm). Interventions PediQUEST Response: combines patient-mediated activation (weekly feedback of patient- and parent-reported symptoms and HRQoL to families and providers using the PediQUEST web system) with integration of the palliative care team. Usual Cancer Care: participants receive usual care, which can include palliative care consultation, and use PediQUEST web to answer surveys, with no feedback. Methods Following enrollment, patients (if ≥5 years) and one parent receive weekly PediQUEST-Surveys assessing HRQoL (Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory 4.0) and symptom burden (PediQUEST-Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale). After a 2-week run-in period, dyads who answer ≥2 PediQUEST surveys per participant (responders), are randomized (concealed allocation) and followed up for 16-weeks. Parents answer six additional surveys (parent outcomes). Outcomes Primary: mean patient HRQoL score over 16-weeks as reported by a) the parent; and b) the patient if ≥5 years-old. Secondary: patient’s symptom burden; parent’s anxiety, depressive symptoms, symptom-related stress; family activation; and symptom treatment activation.
