Therefore, it must at least be possible to detect the presence of God at any time and in any place.3. However, proof for God's existence lies with each individual, since ‘to prove’ means to be capable of becoming aware of God's presence.4. Not everyone at every time and place is aware of God's existence. But the divine nature must be such as to be ever-existent. That is, it is both capable of making its presence known and at the same time capable of having its presence unrecognized.5. God, then, can relate to each intelligent soul in a different way. Thus, he is subject to being described in a variety of ways.6. The non-uniformity of our experience of God indicates that human beings are capable of sensing God's presence but seldom in a uniform way.7. The time and place, the intellectual and cultural climate, the vitality or laxity of existing religious modes, all have a large role in determining how many human beings become aware of God's presence and accept that as proof.8. With regard to proving the ever-presence of God, the initiative and the control have been placed largely in human hands. Abstract:

Since academic teachers belong to different disciplines and thus discourses, they have different ways of knowing and teaching. Recent societal challenges call for thinking beyond boundaries and re-visiting academic practices. The purpose of this study is to investigate how academic teachers view sharing of knowledge and teaching. The study is based on survey data from eight faculties and interviews of teachers from each of these faculties at the University of Gothenburg. The results show that professional development courses in higher education teaching and learning, as well as open practices, and collaboration between academic disciplines and society are practices, which Galison (1997) termed trading zones. These trading zones are sources of learning to theorize and to facilitate exchange among peers with the potential to develop knowledge, identity and moral commitments necessary to address societal challenges. Further, the results suggest that universities need to scaffold these sharing practices. The findings inform how academic teachers’ practices can be transformed into sharing between and beyond academic disciplines.

At present, public transport needs to be managed using the different models, which will take into account health problems, passenger transport problems, refinement of technical parameters of buses and their adaptation to urban operating conditions, which would be one of the preventive measures in the context of combating the coronavirus pandemic. The article discusses the issues of optimizing the routeing scheme of buses and minibuses in the conditions of a three-level transport network in large cities. Measures for the performance of the city bus routes have been developed. It has been established that the qualification of a driver and the selection of urban passenger vehicles are central issues in terms of fuel efficiency and reducing the number of harmful substances in exhaust gases.

Study level/applicability The target audiences for the case study are BSc, MSc and MBA students and management trainees and executives who are interested in learning the human resource (HR) practices, policies and strategies adopted by the world’s largest commercial employer to ensure complete satisfaction and contentment of their employees and their employee’s family which, in turn, motivates them to contribute more efficiently and effectively for the organisation. Even senior management teams could be targeted in executive education programmes as this case discusses time-tested HR practices, policies and strategies which have been sparsely discussed so far and hence can be expected to provide insights to senior corporate managers. Case overview India has and is undergoing sweeping economic changes lately. There are several organisations that have supported this positive change. Of these, one such organisation, which shouldered the infrastructural burden of the transportation sector in India’s growth story, was the 160-year-old Indian Railways (IR), the world’s largest commercial employer. IR’s profit over the past few years was a far cry from its loss-making days, which tempted the government of India to consider privatisation in 2001. The transformational turnaround would not have been possible but for IR’s employees. After celebrating IR’s 160th anniversary in 2013, the case organisation wished to revisit its HR practices to understand its recent economic transformations and to strategise how they can improve and sustain maximum efficiency in future. The objective of this case study is to understand the “people side” of IR by explaining its current HR practices and to investigate and identify changes over the years so that changes then can be implemented in the context of HR practices for the future. Hence, the case attempts to explain the role of HR management in IR’s turnaround strategies. Resistance exhibited by IR staff towards its recent initiative of enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation across India due to fear of job losses and insecurity is also discussed in the case. Teaching note for this case study explains existing people management frameworks published in the research literature to class participants by applying it to the case company. In addition, the teaching note also discusses how chief personnel officers (CPOs) of IR can pursue the change initiatives among the employees with least resistance. Changes/initiatives that can be imbibed by the CPOs in the existing HR practices to overcome the resistance exerted by the employees and to improve the existing system are also discussed. Expected learning outcomes This case study’s primary objective is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the HR practices being followed in IR, the world’s largest commercial employer. The case also attempts to assess the ERP system initiative by IR and analyse how it can be imbibed into the existing IR’s HR system. In short, the case study attempts to answer the following assignment questions which form the learning objectives of this case study: What are the HR practices that are being followed in the world’s largest commercial employer? How are the HR practices followed helpful in the retention of employees? How can IR pursue the change initiatives, especially ERP implementation, among the employees without any resistance? Abstract:

For obtain accurate aminoacids analysis results for peptide samples it is need to pay attention for method of analysis and method of sample preparation. Now some samplpreparation methods are known: acid and basic hydrolysis. In this article the comparison of two methods of aminoacids analysis were observed: pre-column or post-column derivatization. Analysis of lysine in lysine sulphate was studied, results were compared with control samples. For pre-column derivatization o-phthalic anhydride was used, and for post-column derivatization ninhydrin reagent was used. In experimental part advantages of post-column derivatization was shown and more accurate results were obtained. Chromatographic separation, derivatization and detection were carried out on aminoacids analisators Hitachi (Japan) и Sykam (Germany). Samplepreparation methods were observed on valine and threonine analysis using postcolumn derivatization with ninhydrin reagent. The effect of pH adjustment after acid hydrolysis was studied. Basic solution addition best results in comparison with sample evaporation and reconstitution were shown. For final sample analysis optimal methods of analysis and samplepreparation were chosen. Results were compared with results of European Accredited Laboratory.

Abstract:

Labor potential for the Ukrainian economy cannot be formed without professional training of staff. The system for professional technical education (PTE) consists of professional technical institutions in an industry, other enterprises, institutions, organizations, and education or supervisory offices charged with the administration of the former. The studies demonstrate that the existing PTE network in Ukraine is ineffective and distanced from the needs of regional economies in terms of their demography problems and needs of their labor markets. The abovementioned raises the importance of the issues of access to high quality and complete statistical information, incorporating a wide range of statistical indicators, first and foremost the ones on labor market performance, enabling for effective decision-making. The author’s review of the respective statistical reports shows that the existing statistical indicators form three linked modules (labor market, formation of PTE system, national accounts of education), containing quantitative data on network, enrolment, teaching personnel, material-technical and methodological provision of professional technical education institutions, PTE financing. Sufficiency of the existing statistical information is assessed by use of multi-step typology by the technology based on the statistics of non-numeric data. The data obtained from users and makers of PTE system in time of Turin process in 2016 show that the existing statistical reports fails to meet information needs of labor markets in high quality statistical data. According to the respondents, the main barrier is unstable economic situation; more than one quarter of the respondents (27%) mention irrelevance of the body supervising the collection of statistical data, and lack of advanced methodologies and methods for recording of jobs. A pressing problem is related with overlooking the scopes of shadow jobs and reluctance of a major part of employers to inform the development plans of their enterprises. Measures to improve the existing statistical reporting on PTE are as follows: introduce the questionnaire-based interviews of employers, to calculate the number of graduates kept on jobs, by specialty; considering large number of small enterprises and private enterprises, improve the existing method for collection and processing of bid data; construct a standard method for calculating the rate of graduates’ job placement using the shadow economy ratio; create an integrated information and analytical system for PTE; calculate the rate of apprenticeship passed, by specialty, ours of apprenticeship, and location of apprenticeship; introduce the monitoring-based assessment of PTE quality; develop the method for balancing the scopes of professional technical staff trained in education institutions and labor market needs.

Abstract:

The ongoing discussion of telemedicine suggests that there are barriers to the widespread adoption of telemedicine technologies in clinical practice. The article is the first to classify the barriers of the introduction of telemedicine technologies into practice. There are 4 main barriers: technological, legal, economic and methodological. At the end of the description of each barrier, ways to overcome them are given. The technological barrier includes: the inconvenience of using existing tools, poor integration of telemedicine platforms with existing medical information systems (MIS), Poor standardization of information exchange protocols between sources (devices), information systems from different manufacturers, a small amount and low quality of digitized information about the state of human health and others. In the legal barrier, it is prohibited to make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment when providing medical care using telemedicine technologies, and also there are requirements for the workplace of a doctor providing TM-consultation. Financial barriers are represented by the difficulties of financing telemedicine - the lack of compulsory medical insurance tariffs, the erroneous opinion that telemedicine should reduce healthcare costs or does not require separate financing at all. The lack of methodological support for telemedicine - clinical studies, publications, methodological and clinical recommendations, training courses and programs on telemedicine for students, leads to a low commitment of doctors to use telemedicine in their work. The process of implementing telemedicine technologies is unavoidable. However, there is no doubt that telemedicine will eventually become a familiar and indispensable tool in the hands of doctors. Sooner or later, even without our active participation, these barriers will be overcome.

As states consider non-academic measures of school quality for their accountability plans under the Every Student Succeeds Act, few are choosing to focus on the school climate in which students learn. That’s not a surprise, given concerns about the validity and usefulness of existing climate surveys. However, the authors argue, a recent study suggests that by making a couple of modest changes to their data collection and analysis, states can significantly improve their measurement of school climate. Doing so is more than worth the effort, they add, as it will create strong incentives for schools to improve their learning environment.

The flavonoids by their natural properties and their diverse applications are a group of compounds whose study of origin, characteristics and applications has been dedicated to extensive research. For the organic synthesis of chalcones, due to their interest as precursor molecules of different compounds, several pathways have been developed and reported in numerous works. Analyses on the effect of some of these catalysts on chalcone yield (%), with respect to time and reaction temperature are presented here. Given the importance of flavon-3-ols, as compounds of pharmacological interest mainly, new synthesis routes are proposed, in addition to the existing ones. This paper presents the main pathways for the synthesis of chalcones and analyzes their production. New routes for the synthesis of flavon-3-ols that follow the Claisen-Schmidt condensation and the interconversion of melacacidin are proposed.

The purpose of this article is to suggest new ways to make international law for the environment. The existing methods are slow, cumbersome, expensive, uncoordinated and uncertain. Something better must be found if the environmental challenges the world faces are to be dealt with successfully. Nearly twenty years after the Stockholm Declaration, we still lack the institutional and legal mechanisms to deal effectively with transboundary and biospheric environmental degradation. The 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development presents an opportunity to make progress. Unfortunately, my reading of the situation in late 1991 suggests that there is no political will to take decisions that will give us the tools to do the job.

Abstract:

The origin of features from nonfeatural information is a problem that should concern all theories of object categorization and recognition, not just the flexible feature approach. In contrast to the idea that new features must originate from combinations of simpler fixed features, we argue that holistic features can be created from a direct imprinting on the visual medium. Furthermore, featural descriptions can emerge from processes that by themselves do not operate on feature detectors. Once acquired, features can be decomposed into component features if required by other categorizations. We therefore argue that it is not necessary to separate holistic and componential approaches to representations, because the latter is a development of the former. The requirements for representational flexibility outstrip the performance of any existing computational models, but specific mechanisms of feature creation are discussed and evaluated. Challenges for feature creation mechanisms are discussed together with the constraints (perceptual, statistical, functional, and task) they will need to satisfy.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present current challenges in concrete conservation and how the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) is responding to these challenges. The Concrete Conservation Project initiated by the GCI is aimed at advancing the practice of conserving historic concrete structures through the creation and dissemination of information. Design/methodology/approach The scope of the project was defined through discussions in experts meetings, development of annotated bibliography and literature review. The project proposes to face the identified issues with the dissemination of information on case studies, development of guidance documents, training opportunities and scientific research. Findings Despite the existing well-established repair industry for concrete structures generally, current data on concrete repair do not meet the needs of conservation professionals, there is little information on the efficacy and durability of existing repair solutions, shortage of training opportunities, and there is a lack of technical guidelines focused on concrete conservation. Originality/value Conserving concrete is a nascent area of preservation practice facing multiple challenges. Reinforced concrete is the most commonly used building material of the twentieth century. As the heritage of the twentieth century is increasingly recognized as worthy of conservation, conserving concrete has become a priority. The history of this material reveals a story of innovation, radical advancement in material and structural engineering, and correspondingly daring responses by architects, together creating a huge array of reinforced concrete structures from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

AbstractNumerous non-oncologic medications have been found in the last decade to have anti-cancer properties. While the focus in oncology research should clearly remain on deriving new therapeutic strategies, repurposing these existing medications may offer the potential to rapidly enhance the effectiveness of treatment for resistant cancers. Glioblastoma, the most common and lethal brain cancer, is highly resistant to standard therapies and would benefit from even minor improvements in treatment. Numerous agents already in the clinic for non-cancer applications have been found to also possess potential against cancer or specifically against glioblastoma. These include agents with activities affecting oxidative stress, the immune reponse, epigenetic modifiers, cancer cell metabolism, and angiogenesis and invasiveness. This review serves as a guide for potential ways to repurpose individual drugs alongside standard glioblastoma therapies.

Purpose. The purpose of the work is to identify the ways to increase the efficiency of engineering research, based on the significant amount of exploration work required in the creation of modern man-made objects, taking into account the shortcomings of existing instruments and equipment used to measure soil stress, and in relation to the need to improve the design of thermopressiometers, which are aimed to facilitate the study of frozen soils. Methodology. The ways to improve the blade thermopressiometer for the study of frozen soils with different aggregates were selected by the comparative-analytical method and the method of analogy. Thawing depth, absolute soil sediment, deformation modulus etc. were determined by thermal-technical calculations. Findings. The application issues of concern of the existing thermopressiometers (limited research of soils of a certain type, complexity and insufficient accuracy of readings) identified can be overcome by the proposed improved design of a blade thermopressiometer for testing frozen sandy-clay soils. It is based on the improved heating circuit, the applicationd of quality materials and changing the form of the blades and body. The device is intented for use on permafrost and natural frozen soils of the world, including Ukraine. Originality. For the first time we offered a model of an advanced thermopressiometer with an improved body shape made of high-quality corrosion-resistant materials, including non-metallic ones. It has the reduced number of blades to one retractable sector blade-stamp (square or round) and one heating blade-stamp. A special probe design with mechanical/hydraulical sensor drive with a thermocouple (or with two fork probes to improve the measurements) was proposed. It was also recommended to introduce an electric conductive system designed for thawed soils, with a rod for measuring the retractable blade-stamp. The possibility of using a thermopressiometer during the study of seasonally frozen soils is established. Practical value. Improving the device model should facilitate its application in engineering and geological research for various types of construction, including transport, hydraulic engineering, which use the methods of deep freezing of weak and unstable soils.

The results of the competition, supplemented by the presentation of a vehicle not yet implemented, are the subject of this article. Actual scientific researches and issues analysis. As this is an analysis of the results achieved, the article deals with the ways in which they were achieved rather than with methods of a scientific nature. Uninvestigated parts of general matters defining. As this is an evaluation of the achieved results, the article does not address specific problems in the theoretical area. The results are presented for review by the reader and give room for his own assessment. The research objective. The aim of the article is to acquaint the public with the results and the ways in which they were achieved. It is also a kind of invitation for potential people interested in this issue. The statement of basic materials. The basis for the creation of the article was information from student works, the result of which were described vehicles. Conclusions. Method We describe our experience in the context of the current literature and suggest ways of implementing community psychiatry training in existing residency programs. Results Principles of community psychiatry — partnership, respect and shared responsibility — are good standards in psychiatric care. Conclusions Community psychiatry training may be possible in existing resident rotations, although teaching in the community setting may also be of value. Research and clinical work in “community psychiatry” need to be valued. Problems may be enriching if they are resolved collaboratively.
