Therefore, it must at least be possible to detect the presence of God at any time and in any place.3. However, proof for God's existence lies with each individual, since ‘to prove’ means to be capable of becoming aware of God's presence.4. Not everyone at every time and place is aware of God's existence. But the divine nature must be such as to be ever-existent. That is, it is both capable of making its presence known and at the same time capable of having its presence unrecognized.5. God, then, can relate to each intelligent soul in a different way. Thus, he is subject to being described in a variety of ways.6. The non-uniformity of our experience of God indicates that human beings are capable of sensing God's presence but seldom in a uniform way.7. The time and place, the intellectual and cultural climate, the vitality or laxity of existing religious modes, all have a large role in determining how many human beings become aware of God's presence and accept that as proof.8. With regard to proving the ever-presence of God, the initiative and the control have been placed largely in human hands. Given God's presence at all times and at all places, and the great variety of ways we have of sensing and responding, the responsibility for determining God's existence is ours.

Abstract:
Since academic teachers belong to different disciplines and thus discourses, they have different ways of knowing and teaching. Recent societal challenges call for thinking beyond boundaries and re-visiting academic practices. The purpose of this study is to investigate how academic teachers view sharing of knowledge and teaching. The study is based on survey data from eight faculties and interviews of teachers from each of these faculties at the University of Gothenburg. The results show that professional development courses in higher education teaching and learning, as well as open practices, and collaboration between academic disciplines and society are practices, which Galison (1997) termed trading zones. These trading zones are sources of learning to theorize and to facilitate exchange among peers with the potential to develop knowledge, identity and moral commitments necessary to address societal challenges. Further, the results suggest that universities need to scaffold these sharing practices. The findings inform how academic teachers’ practices can be transformed into sharing between and beyond academic disciplines.

At present, public transport needs to be managed using the different models, which will take into account health problems, passenger transport problems, refinement of technical parameters of buses and their adaptation to urban operating conditions, which would be one of the preventive measures in the context of combating the coronavirus pandemic. The article discusses the issues of optimizing the routeing scheme of buses and minibuses in the conditions of a three-level transport network in large cities. Measures for the performance of the city bus routes have been developed. It has been established that the qualification of a driver and the selection of urban passenger vehicles are central issues in terms of fuel efficiency and reducing the number of harmful substances in exhaust gases.

insuficiência na capacidade de alojamento em Portugal. Estudos recentes apontam não só aumento de novos portugueses, pelo saldo migratório, como das solicitações de acolhimento que, em 2019 contabilizam, pelo menos, 15 mil camas, sendo 10 mil situadas em Lisboa. Por ser a região com maior notoriedade nas pesquisas, este trabalho procurou compreender a realidade especificamente em Lisboa. Através das investigações sobre o publico alvo dos pedidos, nota-se que grande parte e¨ composta por estudantes e jovens adultos. Outro aspeto observado foi a tendência na escolha das periferias de Lisboa como destino para moradia. A principal razão para esse movimento advém do alto custo de vida atual na Grande Lisboa. Essa, que além de acomodar o aumento do turismo e a abertura do mercado de arrendamento, comporta diversas faculdades e empresas. Sendo assim, o trabalho associa a necessidade de alojamento à procura da habitação comunitária e resulta na implementação de um complexo de habitação Co-living em Odivelas. Os modos de intervenção e as diretrizes projetuais perpassam conceitos como flexibilidade, versatilidade e coexistência.
ABSTRACT:The constant growth in the number of immigrants highlights and warns of a condition of insufficient accommodation capacity in Portugal. Recent studies point not only to the increase in new Portuguese, due to the migratory balance, but also to requests for reception, which in 2019 account for at least 15 thousand beds, of which 10,000 are located in Lisbon. As this is the region with the most notoriety in research, this work tried to understand the reality specifically in Lisbon. Through investigations into the target audience of requests, it is noted that a large part is composed by students and young adults. Another aspect observed was the trend in choosing the peripheries of Lisbon as a destination for housing. The main reason for this movement comes from the current high costs of living in the center of Lisbon. This, which in addition to accommodating the increase in tourism and the opening of the rental market, includes several universities and companies. Thus, the work associates the need for accommodation with the demand for community housing and results in the implementation of a Co-living housing complex in Odivelas. Intervention modes and design guidelines permeate concepts such as flexibility, versatility and co-existence

Abstract:
This thesis is investigating in how current buying and purchasing decisions within retail interior are made and how they possibly could be changed or affected with sensory engagement, to promote social sustainability by promoting individual knowledge and sense making in B2B (business to business) context.  The background for this thesis sprung from many sources but is mainly based on the last couple of decades’ societal changes in both digital developments, contributing to more separated consumer behaviour but also in the economical shift from a production area to a consumption age. Which both have fostered a, social and common confidence in the visual sense.  Purchasers are today in 2017, are despite last year’s recent sustainability focus within, b2b, still controlled by business factors such as generating profit and increase market share. For this reason and due to a supportive technical development urging on screen information, much of previous instinctive material and production knowledge have gone missing since the faith in the mere visual still dominate the human perception and information intake.  Business reliance on economical components has proven to not support the individual knowledge generation nor engage with entailing learning. In a series of interviews and LAB experiments this thesis explored the concept of lost material knowledge and developed a conceptual design tool for conversation and learning. Reaching out to rookies as well as advanced constructors of retail interior creating a bridge of tactile experiences to discuss and explore in B2B.  By creating a common tool, effacing the focus on the visual, this thesis argues for the importance of bringing back the information and richness of tactile engagement in order to support and foster the individual learning process and break the chain of lost knowledge.  A hypothesis that this essay is arguing for is that a reintroduction of importance at the individual level can make employees, within B2B, feel more involved and important in its development. In the long run, a continuation and development of this type of methods could change and question existing business strategies and promote the possibilities for social soft values to enter the B2B world.

Abstract:
Prior research (Shuttleworth-Edwards et al., 2004) presented preliminary normative data for the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – III (WAIS-III) for Southern Africa, stratified according to gender (female vs. male), language (black African vs. white English), level of education (matric/12+ years of education vs. Graduate/15+ years of education) and quality of education (disadvantaged – Department of Education and Training vs. advantaged - Private/Model C). IQ scores for black African language and white English Southern Africans were comparable with the United States of America (USA) standardization when level and quality of education were equitable. (‘White English’ is the term used to denote those of European descent whose first language is English). A limitation of the research was the lack of control for language for most of the black groups and particularly in the Private/Model C Graduate group, where sixty percent of the participants originated from Zimbabwe. These represented a particularly elite group whose education was equitable to that of the white participants throughout their education (i.e. at primary, secondary and tertiary level). In order to rectify the lack of homogeneity of language, all non- Xhosa first language participants were excluded from the black sample and sixteen additional Xhosa first language participants were tested on the WAIS-III. Data analyses found no significant differences between the original and new groups, except in the comparison between Mixed African language Private/Model C Graduates and the Xhosa first language Private/Model C Graduate/15+ years of education, where there was a lowering of WAIS-III subtest, index and IQ scores in the newly constituted group. This lowering in test performance is explained in that the new Xhosa first language 15+ years of education group was a less advantaged group than the original Mixed African Language Private/Model C Graduate group, as the new group generally had less advantaged primary school education and had generally studied less at a tertiary level. Overall, these results demonstrate an incremental increase in WAIS-III test performance for sample groups on a continuum of quality of education from least to most advantaged education. This was true for both verbal and non-verbal subtests.

Previous research has indicated addiction beliefs differ in staff working in Mental Health and Substance Misuse Services, but limited attention has been paid to this in the UK. Given the reported prevalence of clients who present to both types of service with co-existing mental health and substance misuse problems, and recent government guidance on the management of these clients within existing NHS services, the current study was developed. The aim was to explore whether any differences in beliefs about addiction existed between staff working in NHS Mental Health and Substance Misuse services in the UK, and identify any barriers/levers to joint-working between services to support these clients. Staff working in Mental Health, Substance Misuse and Dual Diagnosis services across five NHS Trusts were recruited to participate in a survey study. Participants completed questionnaires designed to identify their beliefs about addiction to three substances (alcohol, cannabis and heroin) and were also asked to report their opinions about current/potential barriers/levers to these services working jointly to support clients with co-existing mental health and substance use problems. A significant difference between Mental Health and Substance Misuse staff ratings on the ‘Addiction Belief Inventory’ was observed; staff in each type of service held different views about addiction on the following subscales: ‘chronic disease’, ‘responsibility for actions’, ‘responsibility for recovery’ and ‘genetic basis’. Interaction effects between service type and demographic information were also explored. The hypothesis that staff would report significantly different beliefs about different substances was also supported. Staff comments about barriers and levers to joint-work were analysed thematically. Given that the current study suggested that addiction beliefs differ on a number of elements across services, and substances; the implications for intervention and joint-working are discussed in light of previous research and suggestions by clinicians. A full critical appraisal of the study was included.

Syftet med detta examensarbete är att göra en jämförande studie mellan faktorerna som enligt en teoretisk ram påverkar en miljöinvestering och faktorerna som ingår i ett företags bedömnings-modell. Respondentbolaget begärde i ett tidigt skede att få vara anonymt och benämns därför som Företaget. Det är en multinationell koncern med verksamhet i många skilda branscher, men med fokus på norden och produkter som kan kopplas till lantbruk. Den teoretiska referensramen har sin utgångspunkt i begreppen värde och investering samt hur deras koppling till miljö och miljöinvesteringar för att identifiera de faktorer som påverkar en miljöinvestering. Faktorerna som ingår i den teoretiska referensramen och som jämförs mot respondentbolagets faktorer är:  Investeringens värdetillförsel  Investeringens miljöpåverkan  Hur investeringen påverkar produktionsförutsättningarna  Krav från samhället  Kundkrav Kopplingen däremellan bedöms enligt en femgradig skala. Informationen från Företaget inhäm-tades genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer med representanter från Företaget. Slutsatsen för detta arbete är att Företaget har identifierat samma faktorer som den teoretiska referensramen. De använder dock mätetal som inte fullt ut reflekterar faktorerna. Den största avvikelsen är bedömningen av en investerings värdetillförsel, då Företaget fullt ut införlivar det producerade värdet samt det faktum att en miljöinvestering skall ses som irreversibel. Enkelhet premieras hos Företaget och det är för att prioritera modellens användbarhet, som Företaget väl-jer att acceptera brister i bedömningsmodellen. För att förbättra bedömningsmodellen bör Företaget därför införliva nya mätetal som till större del reflekterar faktorerna som påverkar en miljöinvestering
The purpose of this master thesis is to present a comparison between the factors that affects an environmental investment. This is done through applying a theoretical framework on the factors affecting a company’s existing appraisal model for environmental investments. The company that was a part of this thesis asked at an initial stage for confidentiality, therefore it is called the Company in this thesis. The Company that contributes with the appraisal model is a multination-al group with operations in many different industries, but with a focus on the Nordic countries and products that may be linked to the agricultural sector. The theoretical framework has its base in the concepts of value and investments and their connection to the environment and the envi-ronmental investment. The identified factors in the theoretical framework are:  The investment’s addition to the value creation to the company  The investment’s environmental impact  How the investment affects the production  Demands from society  Customer demands From these, the factors affecting a company’s existing appraisal model were compared and their connection to theoretical framework was judged according to a 5-grade scale. Information from the Company was acquired through semi-structured interviews with representatives from the Company. The largest deviation is how the company considers an investment’s contribution to the produced value. Because of this imperfection does the company's model not fully incorporate the produced value and that an environmental investment is irreversible. The overall conclusion is that the Company has identified the same factors as the theoretical framework. The Company has though chosen to use their existing methods and performance indicators that don’t fully incorporate the factors in the theoretical framework. The largest devia-tions are how the company considers an investment’s contribution to the produced value and that it should be considered as irreversible. The Company must therefore in order to enhance their appraisal model develop new performance measures for the factors.

Abstract:
This collection focuses on difficult memories and diverse identities related to conflicts and localized politics of memories. The contemporary and history-oriented case studies discuss politicized memories and pasts, the frictions of justice and reconciliation, and the diversity and fragmentation of difficult memories. The collection brings together methodological discussions from oral history research, cultural memory studies and the study of contemporary protest movements. The politicization of memories is analyzed in various contexts, ranging from everyday interaction and diverse cultural representations to politics of the archive and politics as legal processes. The politicization of memories takes place on multiple analytical levels: those inherent to the sources; the ways in which the collections are utilized, archived, or presented; and in the re-evaluation of existing research.

However, creating lasting improvements in animal health systems at a national level is an ambitious task. Last-mile human healthcare is a key issue in the drive to achieve universal health coverage for all people and looking to the ways that humanitarian agencies are trying to achieve this will be key in driving this forwards for all animals in the future. To push animal welfare up the global agenda and create a catalyst for change, referencing solely animal welfare is not enough. Drawing on linkages between people, the planet and animals is essential.

Intrapreneurship creates opportunities for individuals to be innovative and entrepreneurial within and for the organisation that employs them. The ways in which intrapreneurs act have not changed, unlike the business context surrounding them. Digitalisation has opened the path for new intrapreneurial opportunities; however, the amount of attention paid to the role of digital intrapreneurs within existing organisations is limited. We present our own definition of digital intrapreneurship and position our definition in the digital landscape where modern companies operate. This chapter outlines numerous ways to foster digital intrapreneurship, including a set of practical methods for managers to identify, and empower digital intrapreneurs. The chapter presents three case studies and discusses their practical implications for entrepreneurs and their teams.

Activism can occur in urban spaces independent of their spatial proportions. This chapter analyses the representations of women's activism as observed in their autobiographical works. The study focusses on women's activism documented in life writings by Nalini Jameela titled The Autobiography of a Sex Worker (2007) and Kiran Bedi's Dare to Do! For the New Generation (2012). The chapter draws upon the sociologist Mario Diani's deliberations on the different types of grassroot activism and social movements that can be understood as a manifestation of the right to the city struggle. Through a comparative analysis of the texts, the chapter examines how city spaces can become arenas of transformation, and the myriad ways people can come together to propose a common agenda and conjointly act to accomplish their goals.

Chapter 3 begins the project of identifying precisely when and how stereotypes lead us to misperceive and misjudge each other. It is argued that there are multiple ways that stereotypes can lead us to make these errors. This multifactorial view of stereotyping contrasts with two existing views of stereotypes and stereotyping: the single and dual factor view. It is shown that, contrary to the single factor view, it is not only the extent to which a stereotype reflects reality that determines whether its application leads to misperceptions and misjudgements. And, contrary to the dual factor view, it is not only the accuracy of the stereotype and the quality of case-specific information that determines the same. This chapter outlines questions that can be asked about any specific act of stereotyping to establish whether it is likely to lead to misperception or misjudgement. In the process it provides a response to a common defence of stereotypes and stereotyping: that as long as a stereotype reflects reality there is epistemic value in applying it.

This project had a limited budged, so the design stage has been influenced by the materials optimization, the use of local resources and suppliers and the consideration of conventional constructive methodologies. The footbridge was built during 2019 and opened to traffic in May 2020. This text describes the main characteristics of the structure and the methodology considered in the design.</p>

It is a challenge to obtain cost effective operation and maintenance of large cable supported bridges. They do not fit into the O&M framework used for normal highway bridges. At the same time, they represent large investments and are bottlenecks in the infrastructure network. Today it has become common practice in design of new bridges also to focus on durability, access ways, and setting up a system for risk based inspection and focused maintenance. For existing bridges, clients strive towards a modern approach to O&M by retrofit of bridge elements, improved access ways and a specific approach to inspection and maintenance. At the same time, O&M "rules of the game" have changed with the last 5 years of digitalisation resulting in new opportunities for efficient O&M. A similar potential also exists in exploiting accumulated knowledge about exposure and degradation mechanisms and utilize a data driven approach to control bridge criticality.

Analysis and interpretation of multidimensional data is a very important problem in many spheres of human life, such as production of products, diagnosis of diseases, marketing, information security, etc. However, sometimes the analysis of multidimensional data using traditional approaches is difficult. Since a person perceives visual information better and faster, visualization is used to analyze the data and identify patterns in the data. There are many ways to visualize multidimensional data. However, visual models built in these ways show different degrees of effectiveness for different tasks. Therefore, it is necessary to identify criteria by which to evaluate the effectiveness of the resulting visual model. This article describes the process of obtaining comparison criteria for visualization metaphors by examining visual models of multidimensional data and their visualization metaphors.

Abstract Pipelines are essential for keeping the lights on, homes warm, plants running, planes flying and water flowing. They also provide one of the safest means of transport. By taking some effective actions, they can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emission significantly. This paper explores a few ways for pipeline companies to help combat climate change. There are of course hardware solutions, carbon capture at station equipment such as compressors or heat exchangers. Although undoubtably these solutions work, they are slow and expensive to implement. What we are going to look at are solutions that can be implemented by using existing software tools, or making a relatively small investment in a new software. The first and most obvious way is the implementation of an effective leak detection program as defined in API 1175. The second way to reduce emission is through the optimization of fuel gas consumption by compressors. The third way is through the improvement of network operations. With the move to hydrogen and renewable natural gas, pipeline simulation software can also help the pipeline industry to transit to greener energy, thus less emission.

Abstract Conceptual design is the initial stage of the transformation between functional and structural descriptions of devices. Our primary aim is to develop ideas that will allow computer tools for conceptual design to be built. In this paper, we point out a fundamental trade-off between the expressiveness of design languages and the computational complexity of the resulting design problem. Research in computational conceptual design can therefore be viewed as the problem of defining a design language and then devising ways of controlling the size of the resulting design space. We propose that an effective means of controlling complexity is to use knowledge of existing designs to guide the synthesis of novel designs. We illustrate this concept with a program that designs novel mechanical fasteners from knowledge of existing fasteners. We analyze this experiment and highlight several areas for future work.

Planning for sustainable neighborhoods is a high priority for many cities. It is therefore important to take the right decisions during the planning phase to ensure that important aspects are considered. One of these important aspects is to consider the harvesting of solar energy in the best possible way. It is however difficult to define the best ways to exploit the incoming solar energy. Solar energy can be used by means of active solar energy production, passively by means of daylighting buildings or outside buildings on the ground for direct solar access or thermal comfort. This different usage can sometimes be conflicting (for example at a building level, in order to maximize the photovoltaic production, it may be necessary to use all the surfaces, therefore preventing the access to daylight). The access to daylight in the street is appreciated during cold days, but shading is preferred during the hotter days.

Research on social assistance in crisis situations has focused predominantly on how social assistance can flex in response to rapid-onset emergencies such as floods or hurricanes and to slower-onset shocks such as drought. This paper identifies a substantial knowledge gap – namely, our understanding of the ways in which existing, government-led programmes can be sustained during crises to ensure that households that were already poor and vulnerable before a crisis continue to be supported. The limited literature available focuses on climate- and natural environment-related shocks – far less attention is paid to other crises. Conflict-affected situations are a major gap, although there is an emerging body of evidence of the ways in which focus on adapting delivery mechanisms has allowed social assistance and other social protection programmes to be sustained throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. The paper concludes that a better understanding of when, where and how existing programmes can be sustained during situations of violent conflict will help to ensure that poor and vulnerable households can be supported – either through government programmes or by enabling robust diagnosis of when efforts to sustaining existing programmes will be inadequate and an additional, external responses are required.

The article deals with the formation of informational and digital competence of high school students. First and foremost, the existing digitalization strategies for society already approved in the world and in Ukraine, including the implementation of STEM education and the Digital Agenda, are considered. On the other hand, attention is paid to the inconsistency of the level of ownership and frequency of use of digital technologies with the requirements of these initiatives. The concept of informational and digital competence is analyzed in detail. Existing publications identify key components, skills and competencies required to achieve this competence. A survey is conducted to better understand the current situation. One of the tasks is to determine the level of use of digital information in the classroom by teachers and in students’ preparation at home. The second task was to show how developing students’ informational and digital competence can be done by active introduction of existing software and hardware in the educational process in physics, in particular, a laboratory workshop. The example of laboratory work carried out in educational institutions shows how modern software can be used to analyze the movement of bodies and determine the physical characteristics of this movement. The concrete ways of performing laboratory work, analyzing its results and drawing conclusions are given. It is in the combination of existing teaching practices with modern gadgets, specialized and general programs that the basic way of forming informational and digital competence is seen. Further ways of modernization and improvement of described methods for increasing the level of information and digital competence are proposed.

Pakistan ranks among the ten countries worst affected by climate change in the world, and within the country the province of Sindh is one of the hardest-hit regions. Changing trends in temperature and precipitation have increased the frequency and severity of hazards such as flooding, droughts, and heatwaves, among a host of other environmental stresses. The present qualitative study was conducted to scope out the specific ways in which the impacts of climate change are gendered among rural communities in Sindh that have the highest exposure to hazards arising from climate change. The study probed the perceptions and experiences of men and women in a total of five communities in two districts of Sindh, Umerkot and Thatta. The ways climate change is impacting livelihoods in the communities is examined, and the ways vulnerability is deepened is identified, not only from the direct effects of environmental stress and resulting economic loss, but also from the coping measures adopted by affected people and the interactions of these changes with existing gender norms and roles.

Innovation districts are physical spaces that serve to strengthen the foundations and institutions of an innovation ecosystem. The design, implementation, and management of formalized innovation districts is a new practice area. Research draws upon the experience of concentrated areas of innovation that occurred organically, such as Boston’s Route 128, as well as intentional projects to bring together innovators in large science and technology parks, such as North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park. Existing research focuses on how to define and design innovation districts and evaluate their impact, as well as general policy considerations. In this paper, we review the definitions and benefits of an innovation district, reviewing the existing empirical research on their impacts. We then propose a series of questions to guide practitioners in addressing the economic, physical, social, and governance elements of an innovation district. Finally, we outline some of the challenges in creating an innovation district and ways to measure progress, to allow practitioners to get ahead of potential issues in the future. This paper is intended to help policymakers and practitioners working in innovation and economic development translate the concepts of innovation ecosystems into actionable next steps for planning innovation districts in their communities.

The words of ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tsu make the simplest, yet most profound, case for transformation – a change of direction, a fundamental shift in the nature or character of something, recasting the existing order and ways of doing things. This is what the world needs now, as institutions and systems of the past century prove unable to address the challenges of impending planetary disaster, persistent poverty, pandemics, rising fundamentalism and authoritarianism, wars, and everyday violence. Against a background of a worldwide backlash against women’s rights, gender parity in leadership positions – in legislatures, corporations, or civil society – has proved inadequate, as women in these roles often reproduce dominant patriarchal leadership models or propagate ideologies and policies that do not actually advance equality or universal human rights. What is required is truly transformative, visionary leadership, whereby new paradigms, relationships and structures are constructed on the basis of peace, planetary health, and social and economic justice.

This chapter explores the role of trauma in violent extremism research, offering insights on its effects on the research process, providing insights on the radicalization process of individual cases, and informing reintegration prospects of returning foreign fighters and their family members. The chapter focuses on war-related trauma as a widespread experience in post-conflict societies, which may persist years after the war ends, scarring societies in numerous ways for generations and potentially creating an ongoing cycle of violence. The chapter begins with a brief overview of the available literature on the link between trauma and radicalization while bringing attention to existing gaps within this field. It then continues with insights from field research in Kosovo on how trauma was expressed among the family members of foreign fighters, including women returnees from the conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, and provides insight into how the author approached the subject in her own research.

It uses a human rights framing to assist governments, business and civil society to understand their obligations and ways they can help manage the impacts of the pandemic. This is an advance version of the paper for discussion. The paper will be revised to take account of comments and a final version will be published in the coming months.

Abstract:
Despite Australia’s and Victoria’s stated commitment to promoting multiculturalism and equality, and to eradicating racism, our knowledge about the nature, extent and impact of different forms of racism on diverse populations is not as well-developed as it should be. Stakeholders addressing racism increasingly recognise that anti-racism initiatives must rely on robust scholarly evidence and high-quality data. Yet existing data have serious limitations. We report on a stocktake review of racism data collected nationally in Australia and with a specific focus on Victoria. We provide a comprehensive overview, summary and synthesis of quantitative data on racism, identify gaps in racism data collection, analysis and uses, and make recommendations on bridging those data gaps and informing anti-racism action and policy. Overall, the review examines data collected by 42 survey-based, quantitative studies, discussed in over 120 publications and study materials, and 13 ongoing data collection initiatives, platforms and projects. Based on the review, we identified eight gaps to racism data collection and analysis and to collection methodologies. We recommend four interconnected ways to fill racism data gaps for anti-racism researchers, organisations and policymakers: 1) Further analyse existing data to address critical questions about racism; 2) Collect and analyse additional data; 3) Enhance data availability and integration; and 4) Improve policies that relate to the collection, analysis, reporting and overall management of racism data.

Abstract:
This project analysed the creative practices and concerns of young adult artists (18-35 years old) in contemporary Cambodia. It examined the extent to which the arts are being used to open up new ways of enacting Cambodian identity that encompass, but also move beyond, a preoccupation with the Khmer Rouge (1975-1979). Existing research has focused on how the recuperation and revival of traditional performance is linked to the post-genocidal reconstruction of the nation. In contrast, this research examines if, and how, young artists are moving beyond the revival process to create works that speak to a young Cambodian population.The research used NGO Cambodian Living Arts’ 2020 Cultural Season of performances, workshops, and talks as a case study through which to examine key concerns of young Cambodian artists, trace how these affected their creative process, and analyse how the resulting works were received among audiences. It was funded through the AHRC GCRF Network Plus Grant ‘Changing the Story’ which uses arts and humanities approaches to ‘build inclusive societies with, and for, young people in post-conflict settings.
