Abstract:
Pharmacological treatment of neuropathic pain is still insufficient. Methylphenidate, a psychostimulant that increases the dopamine and noradrenaline levels, is commonly used for treating ADHD. There have been reports of changes in patients pain thresholds by ADHD patients treated with methylphenidate. The aim of the study is to examine if methylphenidate can affect peripheral neuropathic pain. Neuropathic pain has been modelled on laboratory rats by chronic constriction of the ischiatic nerve. The effect of methylphenidate on the evoked pain component was evaluated on control animals and on animals with neuropathic pain using reflex (plantar test, vonFrey test) and operanting test (thermal place preference). The effect of methylphenidate on the spontaneous components of pain was evaluated using the methods of conditioned place preference. This study has proven that methylphenidate in an applicable dose of 1 mg/kg has an antialodynic effect but does not act antinociceptively. This study further confirms that methylphenidate in low doses does not act as attractant and has no effect on spontaneous pain. The last part of the study compares the different methods for pain measurement and comes to the conclusion that the plantar test is not an adequate method for evaluating the effect of analgesics...

Abstract:
Title: Comparison of the effectiveness of manual therapy and therapy using exercises in muscle postural strings for painful neck syndromes. Objective: The main aim of this work is to compare the effect of active and passive approaches, combinations thereof, used in normal physiotherapy practice for painful neck syndromes. Active physiotherapy techniques represent the concept of Dr. Raševa, exercises in open and closed kinematic strings and elements of developmental kinesiology. Passive physiotherapy techniques are soft tissue techniques, mobilization and manipulation. The combination of these techniques is the application of active and passive techniques, i.e. the concept of Dr. Rašev, exercises in open and closed kinematic strings, elements of developmental kinesiology and soft tissue techniques, mobilization and manipulation. Methods: The study involved a total of 30 probands with chronic neck pain, randomly divided into three groups of 10. The first group (LTV - health exercise) included active treatment approaches, i.e. the concept of Dr. Raševa, exercises in open and closed kinematic strings and elements of developmental kinesiology. In the second group (TMT - soft tissue techniques) the contents were passive therapeutic approaches, i.e. soft tissue techniques, mobilization and manipulation....

Abstract:
The Master's thesis is focused on monitoring of the core muscles and m. biceps femoris activity in postural stability examination by Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization tests using surface electromyography in patients with LBP. Trunk extension test, trunk flexion test and squat test were chosen. The aim of this study was comparing muscle activity timing, symmetry of muscle activation and average activation between healthy subjects and patients with LBP. The changes of muscle activation pattern were observed and average activation was determined. In theoretical part the principles of DNS, surface electromyography and the relationship between postural stabilization and LBP are discussed. Two groups were measured - patients with LBP and a control group, 20 subjects together. The onset times were measured and rank of activation for each test and for each subject was determined. Then the average order for whole group was specified. Measured data were evaluated according to Wilcoxon signed-rank test. In average activation there was analysed change of activation in time. Results were compared between two measured groups. There is significant difference between the two groups in the rank of activation of m. ES l. dx. in trunk extension test and m. EO in squat test. Assymetry in timing of the right and left...

Abstract:
Title of the thesis Comparison of muscle activity of selected muscles of shoulder girdle by PEMG examination among elite swimmers and influence of strength training Thesis aim Analyze and evaluate the influence of strength intervention on muscle activity of selected muscle groups by PEMG during swimming locomotion by crawl method in top swimmers. Methods Fifteen top swimmers specializing in the crawl style at the age of 18-28 years participated in this experiment. After determining pain in the area of the shoulder joint using VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) and the SFPS questionnaire (Swimmer's Functional Pain Scale), which reports about the swimming training, health and analgesic use, probands underwent a PEMG examination of 8 evaluated muscles. Subsequently, they simulated a 100m crawl race on VASA, where PEMG data was again captured. Subsequently, everyone carried out a force intervention program and then again underwent a simulation of the 100m crawl on VASA. The evaluation and processing of the obtained data was performed with the program MyoResearch XP Master Edition from Noraxon company with simultaneous video recording. Basic descriptive statistics, Magnitude Based Difference, ANOVA and Cohen D were used for statistical data processing. Results Muscle activity of the examined muscles increased...
