Abstract:

Makala haya yanalenga kuchambua fani na maudhui, muundo na dhamira za tamthilia za Kiswahili zihusuzo VVU/UKIMWI, hasa tamthilia kutoka Tanzania, na uhusiano baina ya VVU/UKIMWI na mila za jadi kama sherehe za jando na unyago. Dhamira muhimu ya kujadili ugonjwa katika kazi za fasihi barani Afrika ilichimbuka katika sanaa za maonyesho ya jadi ya Kiafrika yaani katika shughuli za ngoma na miviga ya kidini kama matambiko kwa miungu, kumtolea Mungu kafara ili mgonjwa apate dawa au kupona. Maudhui yanayohusu ugonjwa yameingia katika tamthilia mamboleo kwa nia ya kuoanisha tamthilia ya kigeni na ngoma ya kijadi, hasa baada ya miaka ya 1980 (ling. Mlama 1983; Hussein 1983). Katika tamthilia za Tanzania za kisasa magonjwa yanayozungumziwa ni mengi, lakini kuanzia miaka ya themanini ugonjwa mpya, yaani VVU/UKIMWI, unachukua nafasi ya dhamira kuu katika kazi nyingi. Lengo kuu la makala haya ni kuchambua na kuhakiki tamthilia teule sita zihusuzo VVU/UKIMWI na kuandikwa zote na waandishi wa kutoka Tanzania. Ninachambua vipengele mbalimbali vya fani na maudhui nikiangalia uhusiano baina ya sifa za kimapokeo na za mamboleo. Ninafafanua pia athari za kimagharibi kutoka tamthilia ya Wayunani yaani vigezo vya Aristotle na dhana ya tanzia. Kwa kuunganisha nadharia za kale za Kimagharibi na za kisasa kutoka Afrika Mashariki, nitatumia pia nadharia ya korasi (Mutembei 2012), na vilevile kuchambua athari za ki-Brecht yaani ukengeushi ambazo zimekuwa na umuhimu mkubwa kwa tamthilia ya kutoka nchini kwingi Afrika na ulimwenguni kote.

Abstract:

Fifty-two college-aged observers participated in an experiment assessing color memory via a PowerPoint '97 computer display program which varied one of the three dimensions of hue, saturation and lightness at a time. Consistent with previous research, errors were greater for the lightness conditions followed by saturation, and least for hue conditions Additionally, a signal detection analysis indicated that d-prime was greatest for the hue conditions, less for saturation and lowest for lightness conditions. There were also significant but unpredicted differences in response criterion which may reflect task difficulty. Scores on the Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire (Marks, 1973) were, in general, not correlated with performance on these color memory tasks, inconsistent with previous research. The role of complexity of neuronal circuitry, the significance for opponent-process, trichromatic and retinex color vision theories and the relationship to Sokolov's model of color memory were discussed. Also, it was concluded that investigators of color memory using a computer display are well-advised to calibrate the monitor with a colorimeter because the internal computer units may be unreliable indexes of changes in hue, saturation and lightness.

Ao longo de várias décadas de investigação tem-se procurado encontrar correlatos da ‘sugestionabilidade hipnótica’, i.e. as respostas dos indivíduos a sugestões hipnóticas. As variáveis imagéticas mais estudadas na procura destas correlações são a absorção, a tendência à fantasia e a vivacidade de imagens visuais (VIV, Marks, 1973). A VIV é definida como uma quasi-experiência perceptiva destacando a clareza e a vivacidade da imagem. No entanto, se relativamente às duas primeiras variáveis os estudos são conclusivos, em relação à VIV os estudos são contraditórios, não sendo ainda clara a existência ou não de uma associação com a sugestionabilidade. Este trabalho explorou as relações entre a sugestionabilidade hipnótica (HGSHS:A, Shor & Orne, 1962; Carvalho & Pontes, adapt. Port. em curso) e VIV (VVIQRV, Marks, 1995; McKelvie, 1995; adapt. Port. Pinho, Simões, Beato & Díez, 2007) medida fora do contexto hipnótico, em 64 estudantes universitários de ambos os sexos (idades 19-33 anos, M=22,9, DP=2.83). Os resultados indicam não existir correlação entre estas variáveis, confirmando os resultados de Kogan, e colaboradores (1998), e inscrevem-se no corpo de estudos que apoiam a ideia de que a sugestionabilidade e a VIV, quando medida fora do contexto hipnótico, não estão associadas. Estes resultados têm implicações quer ao nível da investigação dos correlatos da sugestionabilidade hipnótica, quer na prática clínica, na medida que a VIV é uma estratégia frequentemente utilizada nas intervenções em contexto de saúde.
ABSTRACT: Over several decades of research has been sought to find correlates of 'hypnotic suggestibility', i.e. the individuals' responses to hypnotic suggestions. The three imagery variables most studied on hypnosis are: absorption, fantasy proneness and vividness of mental imagery (VIV, Marks, 1973). VIV is defined as a semi perceptive experience based on the sharpness and vividness of the mental image. However, if on the two first variables studies are conclusive, regarding the VIV studies are contradictory. It is not yet clear whether there is an association between hypnotic suggestibility and VIV. This study explored the relations between hypnotic suggestibility (HGSHS:A, Shor & Orne, 1962; Carvalho & Pontes, adapt. Port. in course) and VIV (VVIQ-VR, Marks, 1995; McKelvie, 1995; Pinho, Simões, Beato & Díez, 2007), assessed out of hypnotic context. Those measures were applied to 64 college students (ages 19-33 years, M=22,9, SD=2.83). The results indicate that there is not a correlation between VIV and hypnotic suggestibility, confirming results found by Kogon, et al. (1998), and covers a body of research that support the idea that the suggestibility and VIV, when measured outside the hypnotic context, are not associated. These results have implications in the investigation of correlates of hypnotic suggestibility, and in clinical practice, to the extent that the VIV is a strategy commonly used in interventions in the health context.
