Abstract:

Introduction: In gymnastics, athletes perform twisting and flipping skills at high angular velocities. These athletes rely heavily on sensory information from the visual, proprioceptive, and vestibular systems. The vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) is responsible for stabilizing the visual field on the retina during head movement. To accomplish this, the eyes are reflexively moved in a direction opposite the head. In a twisting gymnast, this actually reduces the ability of gymnasts to see the landing during airborne skills. Hence it becomes necessary for the gymnasts to cancel or suppress their VOR in order to view the landing. Objective: The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between gymnastics skill level and their ability to suppress the VOR. Methods: Ten female gymnasts (mean age 15±2.2) were obtained via a sample of convenience from a local club. The sample included both competitive and recreational gymnasts. Subjects were asked to wear a measurement system that could track head and eye movements as they performed a series of visual tasks. Three experiments were performed: (1) a saccadic experiment – two horizontally fixed LEDs (±10°) were alternately lit in a non-predictable pattern to provide visual cues, (2) a VOR experiment – the subject was asked to perform yawl head movements to an audible metronome beat 11 while visually fixating on an LED target 1m away, and (3) a vestibulo-ocular reflex suppression/cancellation (VORc) experiment – a laser pointer was fixed to the subject‟s helmet close to the cyclopean eye (slaving the target to the head movement) and the subject was again asked to perform head movements to a metronome while visually fixating on the target. In both VOR experiments, the metronome frequency varied from 72 to 196 beats per minute. Eye and head position data were synchronously sampled at 250 and 100Hz respectively. Data were post-processed using MATLAB. Periodic calibrations were performed throughout the experiment to test the continued reliability of the data. Results: Saccadic peak velocities and latencies were calculated for the sample population. Their performance did not differ from the normal population. VOR and VORc gains were also calculated and compared. The higher level (competitive) gymnasts were better at suppressing their VOR. In addition, left/right VOR gain asymmetries correlated highly with twist direction in seven of the competitive gymnasts. Discussion/Conclusions: There is a correlation between VOR performance and gymnastic level. These results do not suggest that VOR differences develop as a result of practice. These differences may simply allow some individuals to become better performers. A longitudinal study on a larger population would be required to test the causal relationship between these variables.

Abstract:

Purpose: This study asks whether active horizontal angular Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex (VOR) gain is capable of monocular adaptation after 4 hours of wearing 10 dioptres (D) of induced anisometropia in healthy human adults. Method: The participants (average age 28 years) wore a contact lenses/spectacles combination for 4 hours. The power of the spectacle was +5. 00D (magnified images 8. 65%) in front of the right eye and ?5. 00D (minified images 5. 48%) for the left eye, while the power of the contact lenses was equal to the subjects? habitual correction, summed with the opposite power of the spectacle lens. Eye and head position data was collected in complete darkness, in one-minute trials before adaptation and every 30 minutes for 2 hours after adaptation. Eye and head position data obtained using a video-based eye tracking system, was analyzed offline using Fast Fourier Transform in MATHCADTM 11. 1 software to calculate VOR gain. The VOR gain was compared between the right eyes and left eyes for the trials before and after adaptation. Results: In the first post-adaptation trial, a significant decrease in VOR gain (? 6%) occurred in the left eye in response to the miniaturizing lens. The right eye VOR gain did not show a significant change in the first post-adaptation trial (?2% decrease). During the remaining trials in the 2 hour follow-up time, both eyes showed a significant decrease compared to the baseline trial. This might indicate habituation of the VOR from repeated testing, or fatigue. Conclusion: There was monocular adaptation of VOR in response to the combined contact lenses/spectacles, but it was not complete and it was not as we expected. However, trying different amounts of anisometropia in one or two directions, a longer adaptation period (more than 4 hours) or monitoring the gain for more than 2 hours after adaptation with a longer separation between trials, might show different results.

Abstract:

Vestibular-dependent surface potentials can be recorded from over the scalp following stimulation with intense air- (AC) and bone-conducted (BC) sound. However, sound-evoked responses may be confounded by parallel stimulation of the auditory system. To demonstrate the pure vestibular origin of the cortical potentials, patients with severe to profound bilateral hearing loss were stimulated with AC and BC sound. The responses had the same amplitude as those recorded in normal subjects, and were only present in patients with preserved vestibular function, confirming their vestibular origin. One negative surface potential, the N15, was largest when measured over the forehead, and detailed mapping of this potential localised it to the eyes. This extraocular response had the same polarity on each side of the eye and was altered by changing gaze direction, suggesting an extraocular muscle origin (i.e. an ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential, or OVEMP). Galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS) produces large eye movements with horizontal and torsional components directed away from the cathode. A modified electrode montage was used to characterise the OVEMPs produced by GVS. OVEMPs recorded from beneath the eyes had the appropriate polarity to produce the torsional eye movement and likely originated in the inferior oblique muscles. Sound-evoked OVEMPs were investigated in patients with superior canal dehiscence (SCD), as they have vestibular hypersensitivity to sound. The SCD patients had large sound-evoked OVEMPs with low threshold, similar to the VEMP. OVEMP amplitude was much larger in the patients than controls and could be an additional diagnostic marker for this condition. Although SCD patients have large VEMPs and eye movements evoked by AC sound, little is known about other vestibular reflexes. It was shown that patients also have large sound-evoked vestibulo-spinal reflexes, similar to those evoked by GVS. However, despite these large reflexes, there was little consistent whole body sway. Finally, a case is reported in which the combination of VEMP and OVEMP results indicated the location and nature of a central nervous system lesion. The patient had delayed potentials when stimulated on the left side, indicating a demyelinating lesion in the root entry zone of the left vestibulocochlear nerve.

Abstract:

The mammalian vestibular system consists of a series of sensory organs located in the labyrinths of the inner ear that are sensitive to angular and linear movements of the head. Afferent inputs from the vestibular end organs contribute to balance, proprioception and vision. The vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) driven by these sensory inputs produces oculomotor responses in a direction opposite to head movement which tend to stabilise visual images on the retina. We present a model, in the form of a software application called VOR, which represents a simplified view of this complex system. The basis for our model is the hypothesis that afferent vestibular signals are integrated to maintain a notional internal representation of the head position (RHP). The vestibulo-ocular reflex maintains gaze towards a world-fixed point relative to the RHP, regardless of the actual head position. The RHP will imperfectly match the real head position when end organ input imperfectly reports head movements, such as can occur in cases of organ dysfunction and even in healthy subjects due to adaptation to motion stimuli. We do not claim that any specific observable part of the real vestibulo-ocular system corresponds to the RHP, but it seems reasonable to suggest that it might exist as a literal "neural network", trained through evolution and experience to maintain gaze during head movement. We hypothesise that the real VOR is supported by this internal representation, continually updated by afferent signals from the vestibular end organs, and that VOR eye responses tend to direct the eyes towards a fixed point in the world. Human vestibulo-ocular research typically employs equipment to which a subject is securely attached and allows rotation around, and sometimes linear movement along, one or more axes ("rotating chair") while attempting to maintain gaze on a fixation point, fixed relative to the head or world. A series of consecutive movements are referred to as a "motion profile". Meanwhile eye movements are recorded, using scleral search coils (or, more recently, video cameras and image-processing software) which can detect the horizontal, vertical and torsional components of the direction of each eye. VOR allows the user to define motion profiles and predicts the eye movements that a researcher or clinician might expect to observe in a real subject during such motion profiles. For example, the "on-centre rotation" motion profile specifies that the subject's head is positioned upright and centred around the vertical axis of the rotating chair, with a chair-fixed fixation point 1m in front of the subject. The chair accelerates angularly to 200°/sec over 20 seconds, rotates at a constant 200°/sec for 60 seconds, then decelerates to stationary over 20 seconds. The model accurately predicts the transient nystagmus that would be expected: its direction, duration, phase velocity and even the brief secondary nystagmus which is characteristic of adaptation to constant velocity rotation. VOR also allows the user to define end organ condition configurations, e.g. "normal", "bilateral vestibular loss", "unilateral superior neuritis", which are represented as a series of response gains attached to the sensory inputs from each end organ, relative to a nominal perfect gain of 1, and various other parameters which are derived from the human vestibular system, including the rate of drift of gaze to fixation point in light and dark, the rate at which the end organs adapt to constant stimuli, and quick-phase trigger dependencies. The VOR is not the only source of eye movement while attempting to maintain gaze on a fixation point. In our model, eye position drifts towards the fixation point at a nominal fixed rate. If this slow drift is insufficient to maintain gaze on the fixation point, a saccade or quick phase is triggered. Hence the transduction of mechanical forces at the labyrinths into sensory signals, subject to end organ conditions and adaptation that reduce the strength of the neuronal signals, maintain the RHP. Eye movement is then determined entirely by (a) the direction from RHP to the (world-referenced) fixation point, and (b) the disparity between eye direction and actual fixation point (which may be head-referenced). To validate the model, we prepared 24 motion profile/end organ condition combinations, compared the outputs from our model with real world observations, and found the results to be similar. Similarities include a simple first approximation of the linear and angular VOR; nystagmus caused by a subject's attempts to maintain fixation on a head-referenced target during head movement; decay of nystagmus through adaptation to stimulus, including secondary nystagmus; indefinitely prolonged nystagmus during off-vertical axis rotation (OVAR); rapid decay of nystagmus during the "tilt dump" motion profile, and dynamic cyclovergence during vertical linear acceleration. VOR is programmed in Objective-C using Xcode and runs on the Apple iPad. Its screen displays a 3d graphical representation of the virtual subject's head and eyes, including imaginary lines of sight to clarify eye movements. The user may program an effectively unlimited series of linear and angular motions of the rotating chair, and of the virtual subject's head relative to the chair. They may also program the gain (roughly, the sensitivity) associated with each end organ and other variables relating to the subject. They may select a series of internal variables to chart during the motion profile such as head velocity, eye direction, neuron firing rates, etc., while simultaneously displaying the head and eyes. VOR can record a video screen capture of the virtual head, eyes and lines of sight during the execution of a motion profile, a CSV file containing the internal variables at each time interval, a PNG image of the labelled chart, PDF descriptions of the motion profile and end organ condition configurations, and data files defining the motion profiles and end organ conditions which can then be exchanged between researchers/clinicians. Predefined motion profiles include: lateral, LARP and RALP head impulses; lateral head impulse with close fixation point; sinusoidal yaw, on-centre rotation, linear heave along Y axis, linear oscillation along X, Y and Z axes; linear sled along Y axis; forward- and backward-facing centrifugation; off-vertical axis rotation; tilt dump; and head tilt. Predefined conditions include: normal; left unilateral vestibular loss; bilateral vestibular loss; left superior neuritis; and "perfect" (unrealistic gain of 1 in otoliths, producing perfect linear VOR). All of these motion profiles and conditions may easily be modified, created and shared.

Abstract:

In porösen Dämmstoffen können Dämpfe bei Unterschreitung der Taupunkttemperatur kondensieren. Durch das entstehende Kondensat verändert sich u.a. das Temperaturfeld im porösen Dämmstoff. Die Kondensation wird normalerweise an der Wandaußenseite beginnen. Hierbei sind Schäden an den tragenden Elementen des Ofens zu erwarten. Durch entstehendes Kondensat werden außerdem die wärmetechnischen Eigenschaften des Dämmmaterials verändert. Der Dampftransport im Dämmmaterial findet auf verschiedene Weise statt. Die Hauptmechanismen sind Diffusion sowie Strömung. Poröse Dämmstoffe wie z.B. Fasermaterialien setzen dem Transport des Dampfes nur einen sehr geringen Widerstand entgegen. Bei der Diffusion liegen die Diffusionskoeffizienten in der gleichen Größenordnung wie die der reinen Gase. Der Dampftransport ist dementsprechend schnell. Die Menge des anfallenden Kondensats kann abgeschätzt werden.

Referat: Die Anzahl von Kindern mit allergischen Erkrankungen steigt in den industrialisierten Staaten dieser Welt stetig. Nach der „Hygiene-Hypothese“ ist dafür ein moderner „westlicher“ Lebensstil mitverantwortlich. Dieser führt dazu, dass Menschen einer immer geringeren Anzahl von Infektionen und mikrobiellen Expositionen ausgesetzt sind. Diese scheinen jedoch gerade in den ersten Lebensjahren ein wichtiges Stimulans des Immunsystems darzustellen. Die Folge davon scheint eine Imbalance zwischen T1- und T2-Helferzellen zu sein, welche zu einem verstärkten Auftreten von allergischen Erkrankungen führt. Entsprechend dieser „Hygiene-Hypothese“ könnten im Umkehrschluss Impfungen im frühen Kindesalter als eine Art „Ersatzinfektion“ einen protektiven Effekt auf allergische Erkrankungen besitzen. Anhand der Daten einer prospektiven Geburtskohortenstudie mit einer Anfangsteilnehmerzahl von 3097 Kindern wurde zum Ende des 6. Lebensjahres die Lebenszeitprävalenz des atopischen Ekzems von geimpften und nicht geimpften Kindern verglichen. Der Vergleich wurde zum einen für drei unterschiedliche Impfungen -Tetanus, Haemophilus influenzae b und Masern- einzeln durchgeführt. Zum anderen wurden Kinder mit einem hohen Impfstatus, welche drei Mal als erfolgreich geimpft gewertet wurden, Kindern mit niedrigem Impfstatus gegenübergestellt, die nur einmal oder gar nicht als erfolgreich geimpft gewertet wurden. Für keine der drei einzeln untersuchten Impfungen konnte ein signifikanter Einfluss auf die Ekzemlebenszeitprävalenz zum Ende des 6. Lebensjahrs festgestellt werden. Dagegen erwies sich ein hoher Impfstatus als protektiver Faktor in Bezug auf die Ekzemlebenszeitprävalenz zum vollendeten 6. Lebensjahr (OR=0,29, 95% Konfidenzintervall=0,12 - 0,71 /p=0,006). Ergebnis dieser Arbeit ist, dass sich ein hoher Impfstatus protektiv auf die Allergieentwicklung auswirkt. Damit stützen die Ergebnisse die „Hygiene-Hypothese“.

Abstract:

Im Jubiläumsjahr der Christian-Weise-Bibliothek Zittau fand am 16. September 2014 der diesjährige Sächsische Werkstatttag für Bestandserhaltung in den Räumen dieser Bibliothek statt. Der Einladung nach Zittau in den östlichsten Teil des Freistaates Sachsen waren 57 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer gefolgt. Dabei erstreckte sich das Teilnehmerfeld wie bereits in den vergangenen Jahren nicht allein auf Kultureinrichtungen des Freistaates Sachsen. Auch aus Sachsen-Anhalt, Berlin, Brandenburg und sogar aus Rheinland-Pfalz waren Interessenten angereist. Gerade der damit verbundene fachliche Austausch über die Landesgrenzen hinaus ist wichtig, um ein gut funktionierendes Netzwerk weiter auszubauen und um „Best Practice Beispiele“ auszutauschen.

Abstract:

What are the social conditions that enable depression to play a significant societal role in contemporary Western societies? This is the leading question of the dissertation. As an alternative to those who claim that contemporary depression is constructed by the exorbitant consumption of antidepressants, it is stated that both depression and the consumption of antidepressants is

possible due to contemporary social conditions. Inspired by the analysis of modernity by Wagner, and on the basis of the theoretical concept of third modernity as proposed by Carleheden, it is claimed that an ethical conduct of life that demands authentic self-realization has been institutionalised in

our historical epoch. By analysing how authentic self-realization is being realized in the new spirit of capitalism (Boltanski & Chiapello), it is being concluded that the socializing parameters of third modernity are those of being able to be active, flexible, polyvalent, adaptable, versatile etc. selves. Hence, authentic self-realization in imbued with these normative demands. In relation to the phenomenon of depression this is interesting, because contemporary depression can be understood, not as a subjective condition, but as a phenomenon of lack. What is being applauded in the society of today is just what depressive individuals lack, namely the ability to act in accordance

with the normative claims of self-realization. Depressed individuals are in that sense failed selves (Ehrenberg) who represent and informs us about the “other side” of contemporary normative self-realization requirements. In other words: Within present-day society the institutionalized demands for authentic self-realization and depression have become each others antithesis. This socially demanded form of self-realization – which is put under the scrutiny of normative critique (Taylor) – is thus exactly what allows for depression to play such a significant role in present-day Western societies.

Abstract:

Für einen sicheren Herdenschutz in Gebieten mit frei lebenden Wölfen ist der Einsatz von Herdenschutzhunden in Kombination mit Elektrozäunen zu empfehlen. Der Umgang mit Herdenschutzhunden erfordert Sachkenntnis und Verantwortungsbewusstsein. Die Broschüre erläutert Unterschiede zum Hütehund, beschreibt Grundlagen der Sozialisierung und die wichtigsten Rassen. Im zweiten Teil werden Untersuchungsergebnisse zu verschiedenen Varianten der Elektro-Umzäunung dargestellt, insbesondere zur benötigten Arbeitszeit beim Aufbau der Netze. Im Ergebnis der Analyse wird eine übersprungsichere Variante empfohlen, die mit vertretbarem Zeitaufwand aufgebaut werden kann und den Herdenschutz gewährleistet.

Abstract:

Gegenstand der vorliegenden Dissertation ist eine Rechtsvergleichung des Vor-GmbH-Rechts in Deutschland und China. Hinsichtlich der fehlenden Gesetzesregelungen in beiden Ländern haben es die Gesetzgeber sowohl in Deutschland als auch in China vor allem der Rechtsprechung und der Wissenschaft überlassen, die Lücken zu schließen. Anders als in Deutschland, wo es sich um einen von der Wissenschaft eingeleiteten und in der Folge von der Rechtsprechung vorangetriebenen Entwicklungsprozess handelt, wurden in China in den Bestimmungen des Obersten Volksgerichts zur Anwendung des Gesellschaftsgesetzes III 2010 fünf Klauseln festgelegt, welche die Vorgesellschaft nicht nur einer GmbH sondern auch einer AG undifferenziert regeln. Im neu erlassenen Allgemeinen Teil des Zivilrechts 2017 wird der Grundgedanke dieser Klauseln weiter zu einer allgemeinen Vorschrift auf alle Vorgesellschaften einer juristischen Person (§ 75) ausgedehnt. Der Aufbau dieser Dissertation folgt der heute üblichen Methode rechtsvergleichender Arbeiten. Nach einer kurzen Einleitung und einer Darstellung der Problematik der Vor-GmbH werden zunächst die Entwicklungen des Vor-GmbH-Rechts in beiden Ländern erforscht. Anschließend werden die einzelnen Sachfragen des geltenden Vor-GmbH-Rechts getrennt und nacheinander gegenüber gestellt und gewürdigt. Die dabei konkret untersuchten Problembereiche sind Rechtswirksamkeit der Satzung, Binnenorganisation der Vor-GmbH, Außenbeziehungen, Haftung der Gesellschafter, Übergang der Rechte und Pflichten auf die eingetragene GmbH sowie die Handelndenhaftung. Zum Schluss folgt noch eine kurze Zusammenfassung. Der rechtsvergleichende Ansatz dieser Dissertation dient in erster Linie dazu, die deutsche Entwicklung und den in dieser enthaltenen Argumentationshaushalt für das chinesische Recht fruchtbar zu machen. Deshalb werden in der Dissertation bei Bedarf jeweils Empfehlungen für Anpassungsvorschläge enthalten.
The subject of the present dissertation is a comparative legal study of the pre-GmbH law in Germany and China. With regard to the lack of legislation in both countries, lawmakers in both Germany and China have left it up to jurisprudence and science in particular to fill the gaps. Unlike in Germany, where there is a developmental process initiated by legal scholars and moved forward by the jurisprudence, in China five clauses are set in the Provisions of the Supreme People's Court about Several Issues Concerning the Application of the Company Law of the People's Republic of China (III) 2010 which are applied not only to a pre-GmbH but also to a pre-AG. In the newly adopted General Section of Civil Law 2017, the basic idea of these clauses will be further extended to a general rule applicable to all pre-organizations of a legal person (§ 75). The structure of this dissertation follows the modern method of a comparative legal research. After a brief introduction and a presentation of the problem of the pre-GmbH, the developments of the pre-GmbH law in both countries are firstly explored. And then the individual issues of the actual pre-GmbH law are separatedly presented, compared and discussed. The problem areas specifically examined are namely legal validity of the statute, internal organization of the pre-GmbH, external relations, liability of the shareholders, transfer of the rights and obligations to the registered GmbH as well as the liability for those who act in the name of the GmbH. Finally, a short summary follows. The comparative legal approach of this dissertation serves first and foremost to make the German development and the argumentation contained during this process fruitful for Chinese law . Therefore, if necessary, suggestions are always given in this dissertation.

Abstract:

Die Entwicklung der Lesekompetenz bei Kindern wurde und wird bereits umfangreich untersucht. Die meisten Untersuchungen, wie IGLU 2006 (Bos et al. 2007), werden dabei begleitend zur Leseausbildung im Zeitraum der Grundschulzeit durchgeführt. Weitgehend unbeachtet von der Forschung in diesem Bereich blieb jedoch das Verständnis von Buchinhalten vor dem Erwerb der Lesefähigkeit. So ist bisher kaum untersucht, wie sich Vorlesen oder Grafiken in Kinderbüchern auf die mentalen Modelle der Kinder und deren Wissenserwerb auswirken. An diesem Forschungsdesiderat setzt die vorliegende Arbeit an, indem sie explorativ neue Konzepte der psychologischen Kompetenzevaluierung im Bereich der Printmedien vorstellt. Darüber hinaus wird mit der vorliegenden Arbeit ein Beitrag zur Untersuchung von Medienkompetenz bei Kindern geleistet. Hinsichtlich dieser Medienkompetenz ist vor allem das Verstehen der in den verschiedenen Medien auftretenden Zeichensysteme von zentraler Bedeutung. Über welche Zeichen- und Symbolsysteme das Kinderbuch verfügt und ab wann diese sinnvoll von Kindern genutzt werden können sind die zentralen Fragen, die hinter dieser Arbeit stehen. Diese wurden im Rahmen des Forschungsseminars „Mediale Zeichenkompetenz bei Kindern“ an der TU Chemnitz im Wintersemester 2006 / 2007 bereits praktisch getestet. Daher erfolgt im Folgenden eine erste, zunächst rein deskriptive, Auswertung des Test-Entwurfs. Dies kann als Grundlage für weiterführende Untersuchungen dienen. Neue Ansatzpunkte für die frühzeitige Ausbildung und Evaluation von Lesekompetenzen sowie Schlüsselkompetenzen, die mit dem Lesen in Verbindung stehen, können so zukünftig entwickelt werden. Nicht lesefähigen Kindern fehlt der direkte Zugang zu Printmedien. Sie können den Inhalt eines Buches nicht unmittelbar als Ganzes wahrnehmen, sondern sind darauf angewiesen, dass ihnen der Inhalt vorgelesen wird. Dabei können durch Vorlese-Tempo, Intonation, Stimmlage und Stimm-Melodie eine Reihe von verzerrenden Effekten auftreten. Neben dieser indirekten Auseinandersetzung mit dem Text, bietet sich den Kindern jedoch auch eine Reihe von direkten Interaktionsmöglichkeiten mit dem Printmedium: Sie können Abbildungen betrachten, die Layoutgestaltung interpretieren und haptische Eindrücke sammeln. Diese Interaktionsmöglichkeiten und deren Implikationen für das Verständnis des Textes untersucht der vorliegende Testentwurf auf psychologischer Ebene. Die Pilotstudie für das vorliegende Forschungsdesign wurde mit insgesamt 30 Versuchspersonen im Alter von zwei bis sechs Jahren im Raum Chemnitz durchgeführt. Die vorliegende Pilotstudie hat das vermutete Potenzial im Bereich des Rezeptionsprozesses von Büchern von Kindern vor dem Erwerb der Lesefähigkeit bestätigt. Bücher bauen mentale Repräsentationen bei ihren Rezipienten nicht ausschließlich über den gedruckten Text auf. Dennoch konnten bisher nur einzelne Fragmente der nichttextuellen Bedeutungskonstitution identifiziert werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit erhebt daher diesbezüglich selbstverständlich keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit. Die zugrundeliegenden Daten der Auswertung weisen bisher zwei Mängel auf. Zum einen liegt die Probandenzahl mit nur 30 Teilnehmern äußerst niedrig und zum anderen wurde lediglich rein deskriptiv ausgewertet. Beide Aspekte sind dem begrenzten Rahmen dieser Arbeit als Produkt eines Forschungsseminars geschuldet, der ein tieferes Eintauchen in dieses überaus interessante und bisher weitgehend vernachlässigte Thema der Medienkompetenzforschung unmöglich gemacht hat. Zusätzlich sind im Prozess der Konzeption des Forschungsdesigns Schwierigkeiten im Zusammenhang mit der Implementierung einzelner Items aufgetreten. Bisher sind deshalb noch nicht alle Ideen und Konzepte vollständig umgesetzt. Mit der Pilotstudie ist lediglich der Grundstein für eine neue Form der Forschung über den Umgang von Kindern mit Büchern gelegt worden. Weitere Untersuchungen sind dementsprechend dringend nötig, um die bisher gesammelten Daten zu bestätigen, zu erweitern und zu differenzieren. Danach kann mit einer gezielten Untersuchung der Möglichkeiten einer Förderung von Schlüsselkompetenzen beim Verstehen von Printmedien vor der Lesefähigkeit begonnen werden. Unter Umständen kann daraus in Zukunft sogar eine Expertise gewonnen werden, die es erlaubt, den Prozess des Erwerbs der Lesefähigkeit zu begünstigen.
