Abstract:
Oil palm (E. guineensis) is native to Africa and among highest oilseeds crop in the world, having a dormant seeds which require pre-treatments to quicken the germination process. The objective of this experiment is to evaluate the effects of Vimpel growth regulator on germination of Oil palm seedlings. The viable seeds of oil palm were treated with vimpel solution at different stages of the germination process tagged as A (+ Vimpel before heat), B (+Vimpel after heat), C (+Vimpel without heat) D (0 vimpel) E (+ Vimpel prior and after heat) and F (Water prior and after heating/Control) and then subjected to six different temperature regime i.e. 2,4,6,8, 10 and 12 weeks in the germination chamber. The result indicates that group A had the highest germination percentage at 10 weeks of heat treatment followed by B at 8 weeks of temperature while group F (control) had the lowest percentage. Conclusively, the vimpel growth regulator has significant effects in facilitating the germination process by 40 days against 80 days of heat treatment currently use in the oil palm seed germination.

Abstract:
The main component of the technology of growing agricultural crops is the use of high-quality seed material, as well as the use of biological poisons and plant growth regulators, which ensures their proper growth and development, reduces the negative impact of diseases, increases the yield of the cultivated crop and the quality of the obtained products. Therefore, the aim of our study was to analyze the influence of biological preparations Vimpel 2, Oracle multicomplex and their mixture Vimpel 2 + Oracle multicomplex on the sowing qualities the seeds of spring barley plants of varieties the Helios and Sebastian. The sowing quality of seeds spring barley was determined according to the methods prescribed by the state standard of Ukraine in the laboratory of biocontrol of agroecosystems and organic production of the Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Management of NAAN. It was found that seeds spring barley of varieties the Helios and Sebastian contaminated with micromycetes from 10 to 50% under the influence of the studied preparation, their laboratory germination and germination energy were high and ranged from 70% to 98%. At the same time, on the control version, the infection of seeds with micromycetes reached 100%, its laboratory germination and germination energy were significantly lower and amounted to 55% and 60%, respectively. According to the results of the morphometric indicators, it was shown that the sprout plants of spring barley developed more intensively under the influence of the studied preparations: their length was almost 1.5 times greater compared to the control variant. It was established that the pathogenic mycobiota of the seeds spring barley differed significantly under the influence of the biological preparations and biological features of plant varieties. The use of biological preparation the Vimpel 2 and the preparations mixture of Vimpel 2 + Oracle multicomplex significantly increases the resistance of plants spring barley to diseases and stressful situations, which, in turn, will contribute to an increase in the yield of the studied crop and the quality of its seed products. The analyzed indicators of the sowing quality of spring barley seeds make it possible to ensure sowing with high-quality seed material in order to avoid biological contamination of agrocenoses.

Abstract:
Goal. To investigate the influence of plant growth regulators (PGR) and microfertilizer as plant resistance inducers for reducing the development of cucumber diseases in film greenhouses. Methods. Field and laboratory. Results. Analysis of the activity of total peroxidase showed a positive dynamics of activation of this enzyme - an increase of 1,2 – 2,2 times, which is 14,3 – 54,6%. It was the highest in the version with the use of Epin extra and salicylic acid. For the third day after plant treatment, the enzyme activity increased to 74.7-75.1 mg-ekv/g·s, Due to increased plant resistance, a decrease in the level of infestation of cucumber plants is noted. Depending on the drugs, the intensity of development of root rot in the average years of research was kept within 12.3-17.7 % at 30.5 % in the control. The smallest development of root rot was observed after application of microfertilizer CompleMet – 12.3 %. Treatment of plants by growth regulators led to a decrease in the level of damage of cucumber by downy mildew. The smallest development of the disease was noted in variants with Vimpel Maxi, Epin extra and CompleMet – 8.5% at 13.7% in control. Conclusions. The tendency to increase the level of activity of peroxidase in cucumber plants after treatment with plant growth regulators is revealed, which indicates an increase in the activity of one of the key non-specific protective reactions and, consequently, unspecific plant resistance. The effectiveness of PGR on the basis of humic acids, biologically active substances and microfertilizer CompleMet as an inducer of plant resistance to diseases has been established. The most effective against root rot is microfertilizer CompleMet – 60 % among growth regulators: Vimpel Maxi, salicylic acid, Epin extra (biological efficiency – 56, 55, 52 % respectively). Influence from the action of PGR against downy mildewis observed at the initial stages of disease development. A noticeable effect is observed when applying Epin extra, Vimpel Maxi and CompleMet (biological efficiency – 38%).

Abstract:
Studies have been conducted to establish the influence of plant growth regulators and drip irrigation on the productivity of marshmallow in the first year of the growing season. It was found that the increase in dry grass yield from the use of growth regulators ranged from 0.15 t/ha to 0.88 t/ha without irrigation. In the variants with the use of irrigation, the increase in yield ranged from 0.29 t/ha to 1.16 t/ha. It was found that the yield of dry roots without irrigation with the use of growth regulators increased by 0.05–0.42 t/ha compared to the option without the introduction of growth regulators (control). Under irrigation conditions, the use of growth regulators helped to increase the yield of dried roots of marshmallow by 0.12 0.47 t/ha relative to control. The highest productivity of marshmallow grass was obtained with the application of Emistin and Vimpel, where the yield was 4.69 and 4.88 t/ha without irrigation, in the variants with irrigation the yield was 7.31 and 7.44 t/ha of dry raw materials. The highest yield of dried marshmallow roots without irrigation was in the variants with the application of Vimpel and Potassium Humate where it was 1.89 and 1.95 t/ha. Under irrigation conditions, the highest root yield of 2.22–2.34 t/ha was obtained in the variants with the introduction of Emistin, Potassium Humate and Vimpel. The study of the effect of drip irrigation on the yield of dry raw material of marshmallow showed a positive effect, on average, the increase in yield from the use of irrigation was 2.5 t/ha of grass and 0.39 t/ha of roots. In a study of the influence of growth regulators on the share of leaves in raw materials, it was found that without irrigation among the studied options, the percentage of leaves ranged from 43.5 to 46.7%. The use of Sodium Humate provided the raw material with the largest share of leaves. The smallest share of leaves was under the control and with the introduction of growth regulators of Potassium Humate and Emistin. Under irrigation, the share of leaves in raw materials ranged from 42.9 to 47.1%. The lowest percentage of leaves in the raw material was recorded in the version with the introduction of the growth regulator of Potassium Humate, the highest percentage of leaves was in the version with the introduction of Pennant.

Improvement of orbits precision is one of the most important tasks of space surveillance catalogue maintenance. The solution of this problem is directly related to an adequate consideration of the errors of the coordinate information from the measuring instruments. The article consideresd a new method for estimating the precision of measuring instruments on the catalog orbits. To carry out such analysis, in PJSC «VIMPEL» special technological program was created. Main results of a study of radar errors with orbits of space surveillance catalogue was presented. Also, the results were compared with data of measuring instrument's calibration software complex. This software complex provides determination of satellite's position with errors less than 10 m. A new dynamic model of measuring instrument errors is proposed.

The article presents the results of researching the impact of foliar fertilization with microfertilizers Ecolist Mono Zinc and Rostok Corn, plant growth regulator Vimpel and bacterial preparation Biomag on the complex of economically valuable traits and productivity of maize hybrids of different maturity groups (early ripening group: Kharkiv 195 MV, (FAO 190), DKS 2960 (FAO 250), DKS 2949 (FAO 190), DKS 2971 (FAO 200), middle-early: DKS 3472 (FAO 270), DKS 3420 (FAO 280), Pereyaslavsky 230 SV (FAO 230), DKS 3871 (FAO 280) and medium-ripe: DK 391 (FAO 320), DK 440 (FAO 350), DKS 4964 (FAO 390), DK 315 (FAO 310)). The dependence of foliar fertilization usage and the starch content in corn grain is generalized. One-time foliar feeding provided a starch content increase by 0.1-0.5%, double feeding - by 0.85-1.30%. The yield of starch was in hybrids DK 391 - 8,748 t / ha, DK 440 - 8,821 t / ha, DKS 4964 - 9,559 t / ha, DK 315 - 9,314 t / ha with a single feeding and with a double feeding it was significantly higher - 9,220 t / ha, - 9,384 t / ha, 10,142 t / ha, 9,993 t / ha, accordingly. The highest yield of starch in all hybrids was provided by double application of microfertilizer Ecolist Mono Zinc (8,983-10,595 t / ha) and Rostok corn (8,721-10,597 t / ha), the increase in starch yield with the use of these fertilizers was 0.5-1.8 t / ha, relative to control (water supply). It is established that in dry years with high temperatures (2012) there is a decrease in starch content, regardless of the studied vegetation factors and cultivation technology. Foliar fertilization contributed to an increase in the starch content of the grain (by 0.1-0.46% in 2011-2013) compared to the control (without foliar fertilization). The highest starch content in the grain of the studied maize hybrids (70.92-76.72% and 71.45-76.72%) was provided by foliar fertilization with microfertilizers Ecolist Mono Zinc and Rostock corn. A decrease in the starch content was observed during crop treatment with the plant growth regulator Vimpel in the phase of 5-7 corn leaves on hybrids DKS 3420 by 0.36%, Pereyaslavsky 230SV by 0.11% and DKS 3871 by 0.5%, respectively.

Modern threats for anti-missile system and space surveillance and tracking system objects include terroristic and unidentifiable unmanned aerial vehicle. To counter these threats a concept of radar complex for unmanned aerial vehicles jamming and detection proposed. Complex consists of non-radiating radio locator, radio warfare station and global navigation jamming radar. Structure, principle of operation and basic technical characteristics of these systems described. Counter-drone actions algorithm in proposed complex described and analyzed. Results of mom-radiating radar development in JSC MAK Vimpel and its experimental investigation described. Precision of estimation range, velocity and angular location described. Jamming effectiveness estimator schematic diagram proposed. Jamming effectiveness may be estimated on navigation equipment or program models of prospective GPS receivers. Results of effective jamming signal development presented. Results may be used in small low-energy counter drone radioelectronic systems development for anti-missile and Space Surveillance and Tracking system objects.

Abstract:
The article presents the main results reached in our study of the influence of mineral fertilizers and growth regulators on formation of the symbiotic apparatus of field pea varieties of the conditions of Western Forest-Steppe. Experimental part of the research was carried out during 2016-2018 in the experimental field of the Training and Production Center "Podilya" at the State Agrarian and Engineering University in Podilya. The field experiment was laid down in the research ten-digit crop rotation. Soil of the experimental field was the typical black earth, characterized as deep, low-humus, and heavy gravel on forest-like loams. The research was set under the optimal conditions for the formation of nodulation apparatus on the roots of the following pea varieties: Gotovsky, Chekbek and Fargus. During the growth stage BBSN 60-69, with application of N30P30K45 fertilizer combined with Vimpel growth regulator, was recorded both the highest general number of nodules per plant, and the highest number of active nodules. With the same combination of mineral fertilizer and growth regulator, the Gotovsky variety demonstrated the rates of 43,2 nodules per plant, including 19,1 active nodules per plant; the Checkback variety demonstrated the rates of 52.2 nodules per plant, including 23.4 active nodules per plant; the Fargus variety demonstrated 41.6 nodules, 16.2 active nodules per plant, respectively.

Abstract:
Composite anion-exchange membranes (AEMs) consisting of a porous substrate and a vinyl imidazolium poly(phenylene oxide) (VIMPPO)/acrylamide copolymer layer were fabricated in a straightforward process, for use in redox flow batteries. The porous substrate was coated with a mixture of VIMPPO and acrylamide monomers, then subsequently exposed to UV irradiation, in order to obtain a radically cured ion-exchange coating. Combining VIMPPO with low-value reagents allowed to significantly reduce the amount of synthesized ionomer used to fabricate the mem- brane down to 15%. Varying the VIMPPO content also allowed tuning the ionic transport properties of the resulting AEM. A series of membranes with different VIMPPO/acrylamides ratios were prepared to assess the optimal composition by studying the changes of membranes properties—water uptake, area resistivity, permeability, and chemical stability. Characterization of the membranes was followed by cycling experiments in a vanadium RFB (VRFB) cell. Among three composite membranes, the one with VIMPPO 15% w/w—reached the highest energy efficiency (75.1%) matching the performance of commercial ion-exchange membranes (IEMs) used in VRFBs (Nafion® N 115: 75.0% and Fumasep® FAP 450: 73.0%). These results showed that the proposed composite AEM, fabricated in an industrially oriented process, could be considered to be a lower-cost alternative to the benchmarked IEMs.

В работе представлены исследования эффективности выращивания сортов картофеля разных сроков созревания в Костромской области. Опыт проводили в 2017-2019 годах на опытном поле научного севооборота ФГБНУ «Костромской НИИСХ». Использовали десять сортов картофеля отечественной селекции разных сроков созревания. Были взяты следующие сорта: группа ранних и среднеранних – Метеор, Башкирский, Красавчик и Варяг, группа среднеспелых и среднепоздних – Вымпел, Фаворит, Великан, Колобок, Накра и Никулинский. Цель исследований: найти лучшие перспективные сорта для Костромской области. Площадь делянки в опыте – 8,4 м2, повторность – трехкратная, расположение сортов – систематическое, количество рядов каждого сорта – 2 шт., длина рядов – 6,0 м. Схема посадки 70×30 см, посадка – вручную в нарезанные гребни. На участке под опытом дерново-подзолистая, легкосуглинистая, слабокислая почва. Содержание гумуса – 2,53-2,95%, подвижного фосфора и обменного калия – 660 и 184 мг/кг почвы соответственно. Агротехника выращивания общепринятая для Костромской области. Внесено комплексное минеральное удобрение в дозе N26P38K38. Трехлетние исследования по выращиванию десяти сортов картофеля отечественной селекции разных групп спелости показали, что в условиях Костромской области средняя урожайность варьировала от 21,3 до 39,3 т/га. Товарность в среднем составила от 50,3 до 90,8%. По результатам исследований выявлены наиболее устойчивые к вирусным болезням сорта. Определены сорта картофеля, наиболее устойчивые к фитофторозу и альтернариозу. Также выявлены сорта с наибольшим количеством сухого вещества и крахмала. По итогам исследований экономически выгодными для выращивания в регионе оказались сорта Накра и Никулинский. За счет высокого выхода товарной продукции при выращивании сортов картофеля Накра и Никулинский обеспечивается рентабельность производства на уровне 15-26%. Эти сорта могут быть рекомендованы производителям картофеля Костромской области. Investigations on the efficiency of growing of potato kinds of different ripeness time for the conditions of Kostroma Region are presented in the work. The experiment was carried out in 2017-2019 on the experimental field of scientific crop rotation of the FSBSI Kostroma Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture. Ten potato kinds of Russian selection of different ripeness time were used in the investigations. Such kinds as the early and middle-early group – Meteor, Bashkirskiy, Krasavchik and Viking – as well as the group of the average-ripe and moderately late – Vimpel, Favorite, Velikan, Kolobok, Nakra and Nikulinskiy – were taken. The purpose of the investigations is to find the best promising kinds for Kostroma Region. Plot area in the experiment is 8.4 m2, repetition, three times; arrangement of potato kinds, systematic; number of rows of each kind is two; length of rows is 6.0 m. Scheme of planting 70×30 cm, planting potatoes manually in chopped ridges. The soil on the plot under experiment is sod-podzolic, light-loam, slightly acidic. Humus content is 2.53-2.95%, mobile phosphorus and exchangeable potassium, 660 and 184 mg/kg of soil, respectively. Agriculture is generally accepted for Kostroma Region. Complex mineral fertiliser is introduced at dose N26P38K38. Three-year investigations into the cultivation of ten potato kinds of Russian selection of different ripeness groups showed that in the conditions of Kostroma Region, the average crop yield ranged from 21.3 to 39.3 tonnes per hectare. Marketability ranged from 50.3% to 90.8% on average. The kinds most resistant to viral phytopathology are identified by the results of investigations. The potato kinds most resistant to phytofluorosis and alternariosis are defined. The kinds with the highest amount of dry matter and starch are identified as well. The kinds Nakra and Nikulinskiy appeared to be economically profitable for cultivation in the region in the investigations. Thanks to the high output of commercial products, when growing potato kinds Nakra and Nikulinskiy, production profitability is provided at the level of 15-26%. These kinds are to be recommended to potato producers in Kostroma Region.

Abstract Background Sleep characteristics related to duration, timing, continuity, and sleepiness are associated with mortality in older adults, but rarely considered in health recommendations. We applied machine learning to: (i) establish the predictive ability of a multidimensional self-reported sleep domain for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in older adults relative to other established risk factors and (ii) to identify which sleep characteristics are most predictive. Methods The analytic sample includes N = 8,668 older adults (54% female) aged 65–99 years with self-reported sleep characterization and longitudinal follow-up (≤15.5 years), aggregated from three epidemiological cohorts. We used variable importance (VIMP) metrics from a random survival forest to rank the predictive abilities of 47 measures and domains to which they belong. VIMPs > 0 indicate predictive variables/domains. Results Multidimensional sleep was a significant predictor of all-cause (VIMP [99.9% confidence interval {CI}] = 0.94 [0.60, 1.29]) and cardiovascular (1.98 [1.31, 2.64]) mortality. For all-cause mortality, it ranked below that of the sociodemographic (3.94 [3.02, 4.87]), physical health (3.79 [3.01, 4.57]), and medication (1.33 [0.94, 1.73]) domains but above that of the health behaviors domain (0.22 [0.06, 0.38]). The domains were ranked similarly for cardiovascular mortality. The most predictive individual sleep characteristics across outcomes were time in bed, hours spent napping, and wake-up time. Conclusion Multidimensional sleep is an important predictor of mortality that should be considered among other more routinely used predictors. Future research should develop tools for measuring multidimensional sleep—especially those incorporating time in bed, napping, and timing—and test mechanistic pathways through which these characteristics relate to mortality.

AbstractThis article examines future temporal reference (FTR) in the French spoken in Vimeu, a rural area of France where French evolved alongside Picard, a Gallo-Romance regional language. Unlike most French varieties, which favour periphrasis, Vimeu Picard favours the inflected form. By comparing French data from Picard–French bilinguals and French monolinguals, we assess the potential effect of Picard contact on Vimeu French. We hypothesized that bilinguals may favour the inflected form more than monolinguals, a hypothesis that was not verified. Instead, education is the best social predictor: speakers with a baccalauréat or higher disfavour the periphrastic future. Regarding linguistic constraints, we expected sentential polarity to constrain FTR (negation favours the inflected form), as in many varieties. Surprisingly, only temporal distance constrains FTR in our data: proximate events favour periphrasis, and do so even more strongly with events to occur within the minute. These results suggest that Vimeu French marks imminence through periphrasis.

Background/Aims: VCP-interacting membrane selenoprotein (VIMP), an ER resident selenoprotein, is highly expressed in β-cells, however, the role of VIMP in β-cells has not been characterized. In this study, we studied the relationship between VIMP deficiency and β-cell survival in MIN6 insulinoma cells. Methods: To determine the role of VIMP in β-cells, lentiviral VIMP shRNAs were used to knock down (KD) expression of VIMP in MIN6 cells. Cell death was quantified by propidium iodide (PI) staining followed by flow cytometric analyses using a FACS Caliber and FlowJo software. Cell apoptosis and proliferation were determined by TUNEL assay and Ki67 staining, respectively. Cell cycle was analyzed after PI staining. Results: The results show that 1) VIMP suppression induces β-cell apoptosis, which is associated with a decrease in Bcl-xL, and the β-cell apoptosis induced by VIMP suppression can be inhibited by overexpression of Bcl-xL; 2) VIMP knockdown (KD) decreases cell proliferation and G1 cell cycle arrest by accumulating p27 and decreasing E2F1; 3) VIMP KD suppresses unfolded protein response (UPR) activation by regulating the IRE1α and PERK pathways; 4) VIMP KD increases insulin secretion. Conclusion: These results suggest that VIMP may function as a novel regulator to modulate β-cell survival, proliferation, cell cycle, UPR and insulin secretion in MIN6 cells.

Bladder cancer (BlCa) is a common malignancy with significant morbidity and mortality. Current diagnostic methods are invasive and costly, showing the need for newer biomarkers. Although several epigenetic-based biomarkers have been proposed, their ability to discriminate BlCa from common benign conditions of the urinary tract, especially inflammatory diseases, has not been adequately explored. Herein, we sought to determine whether VIMme and miR663ame might accurately discriminate those two conditions, using a multiplex test. Performance of VIMme and miR663ame in tissue samples and urines in testing set confirmed previous results (96.3% sensitivity, 88.2% specificity, area under de curve (AUC) 0.98 and 92.6% sensitivity, 75% specificity, AUC 0.83, respectively). In the validation sets, VIMme-miR663ame multiplex test in urine discriminated BlCa patients from healthy donors or patients with inflammatory conditions, with 87% sensitivity, 86% specificity and 80% sensitivity, 75% specificity, respectively. Furthermore, positive likelihood ratio (LR) of 2.41 and negative LR of 0.21 were also disclosed. Compared to urinary cytology, VIMme-miR663ame multiplex panel correctly detected 87% of the analysed cases, whereas cytology only forecasted 41%. Furthermore, high miR663ame independently predicted worse clinical outcome, especially in patients with invasive BlCa. We concluded that the implementation of this panel might better stratify patients for confirmatory, invasive examinations, ultimately improving the cost-effectiveness of BlCa diagnosis and management. Moreover, miR663ame analysis might provide relevant information for patient monitoring, identifying patients at higher risk for cancer progression.

The vast majority of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) suffer from long and uncertain length of stay (LOS). The aim of our study was to provide decision support for discharge and admission plans by predicting ICH patients’ LOS probability distribution. The demographics, clinical predictors, admission diagnosis, and surgery information from 3,600 ICH patients were used in this study. We used univariable Cox analysis, multivariable Cox analysis, Cox-variable of importance (Cox-VIMP) analysis, and an intersection analysis to select predictors and used random survival forests (RSF)—a method in survival analysis—to predict LOS probability distribution. The Cox-VIMP method constructed by us effectively selected significant correlation predictors. The Cox-VIMP RSF model can improve prediction performance and is significantly different from the other models. The Cox-VIMP can contribute to the screening of predictors, and the RSF model can be established through those predictors to predict the probability distribution of LOS in each patient.

Les résultats indiquent que la majorité des sites ont recours aux courriels, à Twitter et Facebook et que très peu usent du blogue, de LinkedIn et de Vimeo. Le niveau de mise à jour et d’activité des sites gouvernementaux ainsi que la rapidité dans les réponses aux demandes d’information ont également été analysés.

ABSTRACT We have previously shown that gingipain activity in Porphyromonas gingivalis is modulated by the unique vimA and vimE genes. To determine if these genes had a similar phenotypic effect on protease maturation and activation, isogenic mutants defective in those genes were further characterized. Western blot analyses with antigingipain antibodies showed RgpA-, RgpB-, and Kgp-immunoreactive bands in membrane fractions as well as the culture supernatant of both P. gingivalis W83 and FLL93, the vimE-defective mutant. In contrast, the membrane of P. gingivalis FLL92, the vimA-defective mutant, demonstrated immunoreactivity only with RgpB antibodies. With mass spectrometry or Western blots, full-length RgpA and RgpB were identified from extracellular fractions. In similar extracellular fractions from P. gingivalis FLL92 and FLL93, purified RgpB activated only arginine-specific activity. In addition, the lipopolysaccharide profiles of the vimA and vimE mutants were truncated in comparison to that of W83. While glycosylated proteins were detected in the membrane and extracellular fractions from the vimA- and vimE-defective mutants, a monoclonal antibody (1B5) that reacts with specific sugar moieties of the P. gingivalis cell surface polysaccharide and membrane-associated Rgp gingipain showed no immunoreactivity with these fractions. Taken together, these results indicate a possible defect in sugar biogenesis in both the vimA- and vimE-defective mutants. These modulating genes play a role in the secretion, processing, and/or anchorage of gingipains on the cell surface.

En este contexto el trabajo busca desarrollar la sustentabilidad de la cadena productiva de mimbre en la región (plantación, mantención, recolección, elaboración, almanacenaje, artesanato y comercialización), incentivando el cultivo en áreas marginales y utilizando mano de obra rural marginal; proporcionar capacitación a los artesanos y la inclusión de personas necesitadas y con necesidades especiales en la actividad artesanal; evitando el consumo de fibras naturales extractivas y el uso de productos químicos tóxicos nocivos. De este modo se propicia el desarrollo económico-social sustentable de los habitantes de la región y además de acciones para cohibir la evasión de recursos financieros del municipio, a través de la construcción de un orden productivo local.

The data come from a corpus of spontaneous speech from Vimeu Picard, a Gallo- Romance language. A total of 10 672 vowel durations are measured, and 5336 vowel ratios are calculated, providing data for the prosodic word, clitic group, phonological phrase, intonational phrase, and the utterance. A general increase in vowel duration is observed as one ascends the prosodic hierarchy, without adjusting for rate of speech. Significant differences in vowel ratio are found between the clitic group and all other phrases, the prosodic word and the intonational phrase, the phonological phrase and the intonational phrase, and the intonational phrase and the utterance. Contrary to what was expected, vowel ratios at the utterance edge were found to be significantly shorter than vowel ratios at the intonational phrase edge. This may be because pauses are greater for the utterance than for the intonational phrase.

Teollisuuden arkeologisten jäännösten luonne ja jakauma on paljolti yhteydessä siihen, miten pääomavaltaisia tuotannontekijöitä (varhais)teollisuuteen katsotaan kuuluvan. Tässä tarkastellaan teollista perintöä sen rajauksen perusteella, joka sisältyy Arkeologisen kulttuuriperinnön oppaaseen. Metsähallituksen mailla on tämänhetkisen arkeologisen inventoinnin tilannekuvan perusteella 808 mainitun rajauksen mukaista arkeologista kohdetta. Niihin kuuluu Kirjakkalan (1686) ja Kurimon (1854) ruukkien lisäksi mm. satoja hiilimiiluja ja niiden komplekseja, Lapin kultaryntäyksen keskeisiä paikkoja ja Vimpelin Huosianmaankallion kalkkiuunit. Lauhanvuoren kansallispuiston kankailla olevat jäljet hiekkakiven kaivuusta indikoivat 1800-luvun myllynkivikäsiteollisuuden merkitystä. Valtiollisen kaivostoiminnan jäännösten dokumentointi Raaseporin Jussarön rautalouhoksessa (1834−1861) toi esiin aineelliset todisteet vankityön epäinhimillisistä olosuhteista.

Abstract:
The determinants of the strategies to be employed by video streaming sites are application (mobile devices or web browsers) and container of the video application. They affect video streaming network characteristics, which is often the traffic flow, and its quality. It is against this background that studies on streaming strategies suggested the need to investigate and identify the relationship between buffer time, video stream protocol, packet speed and size, upload time, and waiting period, specifically to aid network administrative support in case of network traffic bottlenecks. In view of this, this study investigates the network characteristics of YouTube and Vimeo, using experimental methodology, and involving WireShark as network analyzer. Google Chrome and Firefox are the web browsers employed, while packet size, protocols, packet interval, TCP window size and accumulation ratio are the metrics. Short ON-OFF, Long ON-OFF, and No ON-OFF cycles are the three streaming strategies identified. It is further shown that both Vimeo and YouTube employ these strategies but the choice depends on the container of the video streamed.
