Full textThis research concerns the functional diversity in the territories corresponding to the current Shanghai new cities at different periods. It focuses on the one hand the roles and functions of these cities in the municipal and regional levels, and also to the states of functional diversity within their internal spaces. The concept of satellite city of Shanghai appears in 1959 as part of the master plan, and will be maintained in the different management strategies for forty years. Approved in 1999, the current master plan also introduces the concept of new city. The new cities of Shanghai are expected to be key elements for the development of the municipality. This strategy of municipal structuring results in a more complete functional programming and diversified across new cities. However, neighbourhoods that have been built recently appear not more alive than those inherited from the old times and even the satellite towns. This leads us to look at the question of the functional diversity of satellite towns and new cities in three perspectives: that of the relationship between strategy planning and implementation of functional diversity; that of the morphological evolution in every age and development of functional diversity; that the complex process of the implementation of the functional diversity and its determinants. This thesis is organised into three parts. The first consists of theoretical research on the concept of functional diversity, aiming to establish a research framework for the following parts. The second is devoted to the roles and functions of satellite towns and new cities at the municipal and regional level. The third concerns a case study of finer scale of the Jinshan new city

Full textThe research deals with the French and German reception of the garden city project which originated in England at the onset of the 20th century. It aims at elucidating the weight of forms in the development of cities – both, in regard to the elaboration of knowledge about the city and the development of urban policies – across the prism of exchanges generated by the project. In linking the perspective of transfers to that the comparison, the thesis follows the English project’s trajectory in France and Germany between the beginning of the 20th century and 1924 : the process of assimiliation of a common project is scrutinized for the nature of contacts as well as for potential coincidences in urban evolutions in the two countries which hitherto had experienced a very unlike development of urban growth, urban tissues and urbanistic knowledge

Full textThe present thesis relates to the contribution of the multi-resolution satellitale imagery to comprehension of urban dynamics in zone of transition mountain-plain ; the urban complex of Blida is taken as zone of study. The process of detection of the changes was carried out in several steps of which : the extraction of the urban morphology and the roads networks ; the analysis of the urban space by fusion of spectral and textural information ; the follow up of it urban and peri-urban dynamics by integration of temporal images

Full textThe focus of the research is the inadequacy of current local government accounting and financial information relating to municipalities. The research attempts to demonstrate that it is possible to improve this situation through information consolidated by function. Accordingly, the research objective is to provide a consolidation model adapted to the local government sector that accounts for the totality of municipal activities and is susceptible of providing financial information relevant to the needs of external users. To this end, a consolidation model has been developed ans tested in a town having 10. 000 inhabitants. The political acceptability of consolidated financial information equally has been tested by means of a questionnaire sent to towns having 10. 000 or more inhabitants

Full textThe work shows the experimental results based on ERS and ENVISAT data, developed in the central area of Calabria since 1998 up to 2007 (Envisat). The objective is to use SAR derived elevation data to improve subsidence prediction, landslides, earth motion and damage assessment for a important regional area such as "Piana of Lamezia". After a synthetic presentation of the technique and the illustration of an original approaches in it implementation, we have showed the thematic results. In particular, we have dealt with the urban areas of Vibo Valentia and Lamezia Terme cities, their surroundings, and the network of infrastructures. Works carried to the standardization of an operational procedure with the integration of experimental software. The contributions of the technique relate at the same time the localization, characterization and quantification of the phenomena affecting topographic surface. The obtained information provides new and important indications to the comprehension of different phenomena and their modelling. Concerning the direct contribution of the DInSAR technique to the control of the infrastructures it seems to still result adapts for a indirect study. Currently, not being completely operative new satellites SAR with metric and sub-metric resolution, a finer analysis would be possible only with the use of the Permanent Scatterers technique

Full textAutomatic city modeling from satellite imagery is one of the biggest challenges in urban reconstruction. The ultimate goal is to produce compact and accurate 3D city models that benefit many application fields such as urban planning, telecommunications and disaster management. Compared with aerial acquisition, satellite imagery provides appealing advantages such as low acquisition cost, worldwide coverage and high collection frequency. However, satellite context also imposes a set of technical constraints as a lower pixel resolution and a wider that challenge 3D city reconstruction. In this PhD thesis, we present a set of methodological tools for generating compact, semantically-aware and geometrically accurate 3D city models from stereo pairs of satellite images. The proposed pipeline relies on two key ingredients. First, geometry and semantics are retrieved simultaneously providing robust handling of occlusion areas and low image quality. Second, it operates at the scale of geometric atomic regions which allows the shape of urban objects to be well preserved, with a gain in scalability and efficiency. Images are first decomposed into convex polygons that capture geometric details via Voronoi diagram. Semantic classes, elevations, and 3D geometric shapes are then retrieved in a joint classification and reconstruction process operating on polygons. Experimental results on various cities around the world show the robustness, scalability and efficiency of the proposed approach
