Abstract:
Abstract. A PM1 (i.e. particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter less than 1.0 μm) short-term monitoring campaign was carried out in the Agri Valley (southern Italy) in September 2012. This area is of international concern, since it houses one of the largest European on-shore reservoirs and the largest oil/gas pre-treatment plant (i.e. the Centro Olio Val d'Agri – COVA) within an anthropised context. PM1 measurements were performed in Viggiano, the nearest town to the COVA plant and one of the most populated towns of the Agri Valley. During the study period, the PM1 daily concentrations ranged from 1.2 to 8.4 μg m−3, with a mean value of 4.6 μg m−3. Regarding the PM1 chemical composition, it can be observed that S and typical crustal elements were the most abundant constituents of the PM1 collected. By applying principal component analysis (PCA), it was pointed out that crustal soil, biomass and wood burning, secondary atmospheric reactions involving COVA plant emissions and local soil particles, and traffic were the main sources contributing to the PM1 measured in the area under study. Moreover, a possible contribution of the long-range transport of African dust was observed.

Abstract:
2008/2009

Thesis, Paris 1, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013PA010550.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis proposes to study a videography practice born in the late twentieth century and called vigging. This practice consists of a mix of video fragments, past as loops, to translate into images the sounds played by musicians in electronic music concerts: a videography performance realized in real time. With the advent of new technologies at the beginning of the century, specifically film and photography, Walter Benjamin argues that the technical reproducibility induced by this process has contributed to the loss of the uniqueness of the work, its sacredness and its rarity access. Benjamin's theory is that the onset of mechanical reproduction has led to the existence of the serial work of art, its democratization and thereby resulted in the loss of the aura. This loss nominates him for the desecration and the decadence of art through the degradation of traditional values. The hypothesis in this thesis would question this statement. Through the analysis of the creative process of vigging performance, we tried to see how this art form is not totally devoid of aura. Through the study of this practice, we attempted to identify the technical reproducibility how did she not necessarily contribute to the desecration and decadence of art. Indeed, the character potentially unique of vigging practice as ephemeral performance, the history passage of the aestheticization of art to democratization and politicization of culture and the shift in the nature of reproduction from mechanical to digital would ail of which would lead us to think a hypothetical auratic renewal. The body of the text is put to the test the question of the aura Benjamin from the study of the vigging practice. It’s a reinterpretation of the definition of the aura and its implementation in confrontation, not with film and photography, but with the real-time video mixing. As part of the poietic, this analysis de scribes the development and deployment of creative operations necessary to achieve a vigging performance. This thesis is mainly composed of four parts. The first revolves around the creation of a library of images. This library, composed by short videos represents the essential matter used for the video mixing. lt consists of video fragments recycled or original creations. The second part is an analysis of the technical installation and stops on the digital tools used to achieve performance. It returned to the computer as an instrument but also software tools or external digital-electro tools used. The third part is the study of the vigging during the realization, that’s to say, the performance as a video mixing in real time. lt analyzes the role of the body, how to mix and compose images, the repetitive nature in the construction of visuals, the rehabilitation of accident and the improvisation involvement in the video mixing. Finally, the fourth part wants a return on the context in which the vigging emerged. Being closely linked to the birth of electronic music, we see how they are rooted in concrete music. ln addition, as part of the interdisciplinary interactions problem, specifically the sound and image, we see how the vigging represent a need for unity which the idea, ta combine visual universe and sound environment, is not new

Abstract:
Seasonal fluctuations, development and phylogeny of Dubas bug Ommatissus lybicus de Bergevin (Hemiptera: Tropiduchidae) and its native natural enemy Pseudoligosita babylonica Viggiani (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) were studied on date palm Phoenix dactylifera Linnaeus (Arecales: Arecaceae) in the Sultanate of Oman. P. babylonica emergence and 0. lybicus egg hatching were significantly influenced by temperature whereas relative humidity had no significant effect. P. babylonica developed successfully at temperatures between 22.3°C and 32.4°C with an optimum at 30.0°C whilst no development occurred at temperatures of 17.6,34.4 and 37.2°C. 0. lybicus eggs developed at temperatures between 17.6°C and 32.4°C with an optimum at 27.5°C, whereas no development occurred at 34.4 and 37.2°C. Linear regression estimated the lower thermal threshold (Tzower) and thermal constant (DD) whereas non-linear models (Briere l " and Briere 2nd equations) estimated TZowen upper (Tmax) and optimum thermal threshold (Topt). P. babylonica successfully parasitised 0. lybicus eggs of 1 to 42 days old with embryogenesis of 1.3% to 57.2%. There was a negative response of P. babylonica female density on parasitism %. P. babylonica showed arrhenotokous parthenogenesis where male progeny developed from unfertilised eggs and females from fertilised eggs. Three sex forms were recorded (female, normal kale and deformed male). Deformed males successfully mated with females and this resulted in the production of all three forms. The results of phylogenic analysis on samples of 0. lybicus and P. babylonica collected from four different geographical locations in Oman revealed 98.1-100% nucleotide similarity among 0. lybicus samples with 8 different genotypes of which two were dominant based on sequences of the Cytochrome Oxidase Subunit I (COl) and showed 85% nucleotide similarity with Hemiptera species. P. babylonica samples shared 96.8-100% nucleotide similarity among each other with 10 different genotypes based on sequences of Cytochrome B (CytB) and shared 86% nucleotide similarity with Achrysocharoides sp. Predictive models were developed and tested for P. babylonica emergence and 0. lybicus egg hatching and showed promise for increasing the efficiency of P. babylonica in suppressing 0. lybicus populations and suggested improved timings for the applications of non-persistent insecticides used in an rPM programme. VALITUTTO, SIMONE. Doctoral thesis, 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/11570/3109029.
