Abstract:
Aiming at the problems of low recommendation accuracy and long recommendation time of the traditional dance art video resource intelligent recommendation system, an intelligent recommendation system of dance art video resource based on the wireless network was designed. In this paper, the hardware part of the smart recommendation system of dance art video resources is designed with the MCU as the system control core, the MAX3232 chip as the hardware transceiver chip, and the RS323 bus circuit. On this basis, according to the user’s existing relationship, a social network is constructed through wireless network technology to obtain user information, Bayesian network is used to predict the user’s preference for dance videos. The probability that users like dance videos is given in the form of data, and related videos of dance art are recommended based on intelligent video resources. The simulation results show that the designed system has higher accuracy and shorter recommendation time for dance art video resources.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis article describes the process of developing an educational whiteboard video for community trauma management and transport. Whiteboard videos have become widely used as educational resources for various medical subject matters. These short videos package information concisely through real-time illustration with an accompanying narration. Based on a needs assessment we created a free open access educational resource for community trauma management and transport. A group of interdisciplinary trauma providers partnered in content/script development, video design and dissemination. A third-party production company oversaw video animation and voice-over. The video was disseminated widely through stakeholders and various multimedia channels. We surveyed a sample of our intended audience and the majority of respondents perceived the video to be an effective educational resource. Although cost may represent a potential barrier for producing whiteboard videos, there appears to be a role in creating educational content using this multimedia format.

Abstract:
Abstract Objective Biomedical videos as open educational resources (OERs) are increasingly proliferating on the Internet. Unfortunately, seeking personally valuable content from among the vast corpus of quality yet diverse OER videos is nontrivial due to limitations of today’s keyword- and content-based video retrieval techniques. To address this need, this study introduces a novel visual navigation system that facilitates users’ information seeking from biomedical OER videos in mass quantity by interactively offering visual and textual navigational clues that are both semantically revealing and user-friendly. Materials and Methods The authors collected and processed around 25 000 YouTube videos, which collectively last for a total length of about 4000 h, in the broad field of biomedical sciences for our experiment. For each video, its semantic clues are first extracted automatically through computationally analyzing audio and visual signals, as well as text either accompanying or embedded in the video. These extracted clues are subsequently stored in a metadata database and indexed by a high-performance text search engine. During the online retrieval stage, the system renders video search results as dynamic web pages using a JavaScript library that allows users to interactively and intuitively explore video content both efficiently and effectively. Results The authors produced a prototype implementation of the proposed system, which is publicly accessible at https://patentq.njit.edu/oer . To examine the overall advantage of the proposed system for exploring biomedical OER videos, the authors further conducted a user study of a modest scale. The study results encouragingly demonstrate the functional effectiveness and user-friendliness of the new system for facilitating information seeking from and content exploration among massive biomedical OER videos. Conclusion Using the proposed tool, users can efficiently and effectively find videos of interest, precisely locate video segments delivering personally valuable information, as well as intuitively and conveniently preview essential content of a single or a collection of videos.

Abstract:
Video learning resources are preferred by many students, owing to their intuitiveness and attractiveness. It is of practical significance to study the recommendation methods of video learning resources. Most of the existing research methods treat the scoring matrix as the main element, failing to consider video contents and learner interests. As a result, few of them can realize precise recommendation of videos. To solve the problem, this paper explores the recommendation of micro teaching video resources based on topic mining and sentiment analysis. Firstly, the dialog text features of English dialog videos and learner interest features were mined based on the deep word vector, and a topic mining model was established to achieve similarity-based resource recommendation. Next, the micro teaching videos with text information were subjected to sentiment analysis, improving the pushing accuracy of micro teaching videos. Finally, the scientific nature of our algorithm was demonstrated through experiments.

Abstract:
Power information is an important guarantee for energy security. As an important technical means of safety management and risk control, video monitoring is widely used in the power industry. Power video monitoring system uses efficient processing of multimodal video data and automatically identifies abnormal events and equipment status, replacing human monitoring with machine. Video monitoring data of power substations usually contain both visual information and auditory information, and the data types are diversified. The multimodal video data provides a rich underlying data source for the intelligent monitoring function, but it requires multiple service forms for efficient processing. Most intelligent edge monitoring equipment are only equipped with lightweight computing resources and limited battery supply, limited resources, and weak local processing data capabilities. Power video monitoring system has the characteristics of distribution, openness, interconnection, and intellectualization. Its intelligent edge video equipment is widely distributed, which also brings convenience and also brings security risks in terms of data security and reliability. For the outdoor multimodal power video monitoring system scenario, this paper adopts the edge-cloud distributed system architecture to solve the problem of resource shortage and adopts the first proposed service function virtualization (SFV) to solve the problem of multimodal video data processing. At the same time, the problem of security protection is solved by introducing blockchain to establish trust among intelligent video equipment and service providers. Under the security protection of virtualized service consortium blockchain (VSCB), virtualization technology is introduced into the service function chain (SFC) to realize SFV and solve the resource optimal allocation problem of multimodal video data processing. The work mainly involves the joint mapping of virtual resources, physical resources, and the joint optimization of computing and communication resources. Problems such as large state space and high dimensionality of action space have an impact on resource allocation. The stochastic optimization problem of resource allocation is established as a Markov decision process (MDP) model, and SFV technology is used to optimize cost and delay. The resource allocation optimization algorithm (RAOA-A3C) based on asynchronous advantage actor-critic algorithm (A3C) is proposed. Simulation experiments show that the RAOA-A3C proposed in this paper is more suitable for high-dynamic, multidimensional, and distributed power video monitoring system scenario and has achieved better optimization results in reducing time delay and deployment costs.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate which of three types of video resources, and which additional resources, were preferred by Information Technology (IT) students for learning and exam preparation. We offered three types of video learning resources to support the delivery of a first year undergraduate IT course. We collated quantitative data on engagement with each video resource through the Learning Management System, drew further insights from an online survey of the students and combined this with data obtained from an institutional student evaluation survey. Whilst there has been much research conducted about the use of video lectures and other online resources, there has been little research conducted specifically with IT students to determine their preferences when selecting learning resources. We report the preferences of IT undergraduate students when provided with a selection of video learning materials, how the resources were used and their perceived learning value. This study not only offers a set of considerations and recommendations for the design of learning materials for IT students, but also for digital learning in higher-education more generally. Short premium videos were watched many more times than full lectures, and 85% of students agreed that short premium videos were more beneficial and effective than longer, lower quality lecture recordings for their learning. The students’ self-assessed video attention span varied greatly, with a mean of 10 minutes. Students perceived that short premium videos helped them to retain knowledge. However, the perceived most useful resource overall was the lecture slides.

Abstract:
Safety professionals looking for information on confined space safety often use the Internet as a resource. YouTube is a popular website that may be used to supplement safety training or as a source of information pertaining to Confined Spaces (CS). YouTube was examined as a source of information on CS safety. YouTube was queried using key phrases “confined space,” “confined space entry,” and “confined space rescue.” Two safety experts reviewed each video and assigned scores for accuracy and view-ability. Of the 220 videos screened, 48 were found to have relevant information about CS safety and were selected for inclusion in the study. Approximately 70.8% of the videos were rated as inaccurate and 87.5% were rated as offering little value. Results of our study suggest that YouTube may currently be an inadequate source of information on CS safety. Safety professionals should verify YouTube video content against trusted agencies such as OSHA before using them as a resource for CS information.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/ijosh.v2i1.5626International Journal of Occupational Safety and Health, Vol. 2 No. 1 (2012) 39-42

Abstract:
The Internet, and particularly YouTube, has been found to be and continues to develop as a resourceful educational space for health-related information. Understanding physical literacy as a lifelong health-related outcome and facilitator of an active lifestyle, we sought to assess the content, exposure, engagement, and information quality of uploaded physical literacy videos on YouTube. Two researchers collected 300 YouTube videos on physical literacy and independently coded each video’s: title, media source of upload, content topics related to physical literacy, content delivery style, and adherence to adapted Health on the Net Foundation Code of Conduct (HONcode) principles of information quality. Physical literacy videos that focused on physical activity and behaviors were the strongest predictor of high quality ratings, followed closely by videos covering affective domains (motivation, confidence, and self-esteem) of physical literacy. The content delivery method was also important, with videos utilizing presentations and testimonials containing high quality information about physical activity. Thus, providers of physical literacy and health-related online video content should be aware of and adhere to the expected quality standards. As health information expectations and ethical standards increase, the Internet, and specifically YouTube, has the potential to enhance video resources, virtual networking opportunities, as well as the sharing, dissemination, accumulation, and enrichment of physical literacy information for all.

Abstract:
Vision systems have become ubiquitous. They are used for traffic monitoring, elderly care, video conferencing, virtual reality, surveillance, smart rooms, home automation, sport games analysis, industrial safety, medical care etc. In most vision systems, the data coming from the visual sensor(s) is processed before transmission in order to save communication bandwidth or achieve higher frame rates. The type of data processing needs to be chosen carefully depending on the targeted application, and taking into account the available memory, computational power, energy resources and bandwidth constraints. In this dissertation, we investigate how a vision system should be built under practical constraints. First, this system should be intelligent, such that the right data is extracted from the video source. Second, when processing video data this intelligent vision system should know its own practical limitations, and should try to achieve the best possible output result that lies within its capabilities. We study and improve a wide range of vision systems for a variety of applications, which go together with different types of constraints. First, we present a modulo-PCM-based coding algorithm for applications that demand very low complexity coding and need to preserve some of the advantageous properties of PCM coding (direct processing, random access, rate scalability). Our modulo-PCM coding scheme combines three well-known, simple, source coding strategies: PCM, binning, and interpolative coding. The encoder first analyzes the signal statistics in a very simple way. Then, based on these signal statistics, the encoder simply discards a number of bits of each image sample. The modulo-PCM decoder recovers the removed bits of each sample by using its received bits and side information which is generated by interpolating previous decoded signals. Our algorithm is especially appropriate for image coding.

Abstract:
Following the rapid development of mobile infrastructure and hand-held user devices like smartphones and tablets, the way that mobile networks have been utilized has changed accordingly. Users are no longer using their phones just to talk to and message each other, but have migrated most of their multimedia consumption to these devices. The increased network strain and reduced profit margins that new services bring to the table might lead to future decoupling between revenues and expenses in the network. In order to avoid this scenario various different strategies have been proposed and one of them is introduction of QoS/QoE related resource allocation techniques. This thesis looks at Interruption Prediction scheduler which tries to predict and prevent audio or video interruptions experienced during video conference call. In order to test the performance of these schedulers, MATLAB simulator reusing some of the functions from RUNE toolbox has been used. Results of the newly presented algorithms are compared with a QoE/QoS agnostic scheduler. Unfortunately results of these schedulers in the case of video conference are not as promising as they were in the case of some other types of services. The research done shows that these modifications of the scheduling algorithms do not help to increase the network performance in terms of observed KPIs (Total Time of Interruptions, Frequency of Interruptions and network throughput) in most of the described scenarios. However, there are some special scenarios when these schedulers show a certain potential.

Abstract:
The user experience offered by a video streaming service plays a fundamental role in customer satisfaction. This experience can be degraded by poor playback quality and buffering issues. These problems can be caused by a user demand that is higher than the video streaming service capacity. Resource scaling methods can increase the available resources to cover the need. However, most resource scaling systems are reactive and scale up in an automated fashion when a certain demand threshold is exceeded. During popular live streaming content, the demand can be so high that even by scaling up at the last minute, the system might still be momentarily under-provisioned, resulting in a bad user experience. The solution to this problem is proactive scaling which is event-based, using content-related information to scale up or down, according to knowledge from past events. As a result, proactive resource scaling is a key factor in providing reliable video streaming services. Users viewing habits heavily affect demand. To provide an accurate model for proactive resource scaling tools, these habits need to be modelled. This thesis provides such a forecasting model for user views that can be used by a proactive resource scaling mechanism. This model is created by applying machine learning algorithms to data from both live TV and over-the-top streaming services. To produce a model with satisfactory accuracy, numerous data attributes were considered relating to users, content and content providers. The findings of this thesis show that user viewing demand can be modelled with high accuracy, without heavily relying on user-related attributes but instead by analysing past event logs and with knowledge of the schedule of the content provider, whether it is live tv or a video streaming service.

Video stream encryption is the main method for the protection of intellectual property in modern digital rights management systems (DRM). Existing encryption methods ensure very high protection level of encrypted content, but at the same time are very resources demanding, making them hardly suitable for low processing power mobile end-user devices. This paper presents partial MPEG-2 transport stream encryption method, which is suitable for such low power user terminals. The experimental evaluation of proposed method show that encryption and decryption times, comparing with standard full encryption, are reduced about 7 times, making proposed method a good choice for low processing power decryption devices.

The importance of applying the concept of remote video information support using stationary and mobile technological platforms for the management systems of critical infrastructure objects is substantiated. It is shown that in the process of information provision of objects management systems KIF There is a contradiction between the following requirements for the quality of provision of dynamic video service in distance mode, and on the other hand, limited throughput capabilities of modern wireless ICS. The necessity of representing the sequence of predicted frames in the form of aggregates of frames-spline tensors, consisting of a dynamic sequence of aggregates of the parameters of structural splines of spectral-differentiated blocks, is argued. The main stages of creation of a structural-combinator approach for encoding the dynamic sequence of predicted personnel are described on the basis of representation of aggregates of positional coordinates of frame-plot tensors in multi layer base space. The main components of the construction of the model assessment of the structural-combinatorial representation of the positions of positional coordinates of the frame-plot of the sequence of predicted personnel in a multi layer space are provided. The development of the method of dynamic coding of decomposed positional coordinates of the glovial tensor of the sequence is described В-Р frames based on a two-pole mixed milthy encoding in the direction of their frames, taking into account: the detection of structural constraints simultaneously in two directions relative to the boundaries of dynamic ranges. The main stages of creation of the technological conception of integration of processing methods are taught В-P frames in information technology processing and transferring dynamic video resources.

Abstract:
This paper substantiates the shortcomings of the methods of intraframe syntactic coding of predicted frames for information technologies of video stream processing and transmission. Basic approaches for improving technologies for syntactical coding of transformants with the formation of the space of identifiers of discrete positions of a two-dimensional structural-spectral description are substantiated. An effective syntactic representation of the transformed P-type frame segments is developed on the basis of one-dimensional two-base object-position coding under conditions of flexible pair-element inequality. The construction of the reconstruction method for the context-dependent nonuniform length of the ID vector of the compressed TSS space is described.

Abstract:
AbstractThe pressure is high on career educators to develop information literacies as a life skill for themselves as well as for youth, particularly those from disadvantaged communities, and to document and process career information in a rapidly changing world of work that is relevant to their sociocultural and environmental contexts. We employ a critical or transformative approach to information literacies to explore young people’s socially situated practices of collecting, validating, and processing career information as well as how they might “democratically transform structures of authority over information exchanges, and then maintain scrutiny over this authority” (Whitworth A, Radical information literacy: reclaiming the political heart of the IL movement. Elsevier, 2014, p. 2). We draw from qualitative interviews with ten boys studying in 10th grade at a government school in Delhi, India, and videos produced by them to map their career information landscapes. Using an education for sustainable development lens, “bumps” were made visible in their information landscapes, that is, the tensions that emerge between multiple informational actors for reimagining sustainable futures. We suggest that these tensions can serve as cultural resources that students can democratically engage with in developing crucial career and life skills for their futures.

Abstract:
Video coding and analysis for low power and low bandwidth multimedia applications has always been a great challenge. The limited computational resources on ubiquitous multimedia devices like cameras along with low and varying bandwidth over wireless network lead to serious bottlenecks in delivering real-time streaming of videos for such applications. This work presents a Content-based Network-adaptive Video-transmission (CbNaVt) framework which can waive off the requirements of low bandwidth. This is done by transmitting important content only to the end user. The framework is illustrated with the example of video streaming in the context of remote laboratory setup. A framework for distributed processing using mobile agents is discussed with the example of Distributed Video Surveillance (DVS). In this regard, the increased computational costs due to video processing tasks like object segmentation and tracking are shared by the cameras and a local base station called as Processing Proxy Server (PPS).However, in a distributed scenario like traffic surveillance, where moving objects is tracked using multiple cameras, the processing tasks needs to be dynamically distributed. This is done intelligently using mobile agents by migrating from one PPS to another for tracking an individual case object and transmitting required information to the end users. Although the authors propose a specific implementation for CbNaVt and DVS systems, the general ideas in design of such systems exemplify the way information can be intelligently transmitted in any ubiquitous multimedia applications along with the use of mobile agents for real-time processing and retrieval of video signal.

Abstract:
Integration of ICT significantly increases the possibilities of the educational process and extends the boundaries of the educational sphere as a whole. Publicly available resources, such as e-mail, blogs, forums, online applications, video hosting sites, can serve as the basis for building open learning and education. Informational educational technologies of learning foreign languages are in the focus of this study. The article represents the results of theoretical analysis of content on the subject of its personal- and didactic-definite orientation, as well as some aspects of the practical use of commonly used YouTube video materials in the process of teaching German as the first or second foreign language in higher education, namely at the pedagogical university. Taking into account the practical experience of using the materials of several relevant thematic YouTube channels with a fairly wide constant audience, a concise didactic analysis of their product is presented and recommendations on converting video content into methodological material in the framework of practical course of German language by future teachers are offered. Due to the suggested recommendations, the following tasks can be solved: enrichment of the vocabulary; semantization of phraseological units, constant figures of speech, cliché; development of pronunciation skills; expansion of linguistic competence; improving listening and speaking skills; increasing motivation to learn, etc.
