Full textThis doctoral dissertation focuses on mind perception in the field of religion and diet in two different cultural contexts: Chinese and French. In two independent chapters, it investigates the effect of religious belief on mind perception concerning religious targets and the effect of meat-eating behavior on mind perception concerning food animals. Following a brief introduction of mind perception in Chapter 1, Chapter 2 explores cross-cultural differences in religiosity and mind perception and how religious belief affects people’s mind perception of gods and Christians using a religious priming paradigm. The main results reveal that on religiosity, Chinese agnostic participants were more similar to Chinese religious participants, but French agnostic participants were more similar to French atheist participants; on mind perception of gods, Chinese agnostic participants were more similar to Chinese religious participants, but French atheist, agnostic and religious participants were different from each other. When God-related concepts are primed, gods are attributed more mind on the agency-dimension in the Chinese sample, but not in the French sample. The Chinese religious participants attributed more mind to gods on the agency-dimension than the Chinese atheist ones. The French religious and agnostic participants attributed more mind to gods on both the agency-dimension and the experience-dimension than French atheist ones. However, the Christian target is attributed less mind by the Chinese atheist participants, and more mind by the Chinese religious participants on the experience dimension, when God-related concepts are primed. In the French sample, religious priming has no effect on mind attribution to the Christian target, but religious participants attribute more mind to the Christian target than to the Control target, and agnostic participants attribute more mind to the Christian target than to the atheist target. Chapter 3 addresses the question of whether reminders of the meat paradox will influence reduction of willingness to eat meat and/or mind attribution to food animals. The results suggest that when the link between meat and its animal origin is relatively clear and strong, both French and Chinese participants report high willingness to eat meat in a condition that emphasizes meat itself, and low willingness in a condition that emphasizes the slaughter required to produce meat. French participants attribute less mind to a food animal when they realize the link between meat and its animal origin, but Chinese participants do not. When the link is relatively vague and weak, the meat paradox does not have significant effects on the reduction of mind attribution to food animals among Chinese and French participants, but makes Chinese participants report lower willingness to eat meat in a condition that emphasizes the animal origin of meat. Anos de conformação do quadro político, o Oitocentos brasileiro difundiu ideais de representatividade política bastante variados. Neles se configuraram as primeiras tentativas, brasileiras, de implantação de uma forma de governo federativa e autônoma, tendo como elemento predominante a questão da representação política, em contraste com o poder imperial, emanado da família real. Durante o segundo reinado brasileiro, a construção de modelos políticos esteve profundamente marcada pela formação intelectual das elites que ocuparam a cena política daquele tempo. A educação dessas elites havia sido orientada dentro de um modelo fundado nas tradições clássicas e ibéricas. Interessa a esta pesquisa o movimento do quadro político oitocentista brasileiro na construção de um contexto que se pretendia moderno e transformador e que, sobre as tradições de um passado que atraía, propunha a apropriação de questões pertinentes à organização social e política do seu tempo. Um dos mais curiosos exemplos foi o deputado Antonio Ferreira Vianna, formado no Imperial Colégio Pedro II, distinguindo-se principalmente em letras clássicas e também formado em direito em São Paulo. Depois de sua educação formal, Antonio Ferreira Vianna atuou como panfletário, jornalista e, por mais de vinte anos, como deputado na Câmara dos Deputados do Império. Esta via de trabalho abre caminho para perguntas essenciais que podem permitir um avanço sistematizado na percepção de como idéias e conceitos europeus, antigos e modernos, ultrapassaram, por meio da educação formal, o Atlântico e fizeram nova morada. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
Years of political establishment, the XVIII century spread a wide range of political representativity ideals. It represented the first brazilian attempts of implementation of an autonomous federative form of government which main issue were the political representativeness, in contrast with the Imperial Power from the Imperial Family. During the Brazilian Second Reign the construction of political models is deeply marked by the formation of the intellectual elites that ruled the political arena by then. The education of this elite was oriented by the classical Iberian traditions. This research is interested in the movement of the political actors from the XVIII century in the construction of a context that proposed to be modern and transforming and about that past attracted traditions, proposed the appropriation of questions concerning the social and politics organization of its time. One of the most interesting examples is from the Deputy Antonio Ferreira Vianna formed in the Imperial Scholl of Pedro II, distinguished mainly in classical letters and graduated in law in São Paulo. After his formal education, Antonio Ferreira Vianna acted as a pamphleteer, journalist and for more than twenty years as Deputy of the House of Representatives from the Empire. This work introduces important questions that may allow a sistematized avance in the perception of how European ideas and concepts, modern and old, crossed the Atlantic through the formal education and made a new settle.

Full textA presente dissertação, de cariz teórico-prático, insere-se no âmbito do Design de Moda, particularmente na observação dos novos comportamentos do mercado e das novas tendências de consumo, resultantes do atual processo de globalização decorrente da Terceira Revolução Industrial. A partir de revisão de literatura relevante, este estudo pretende analisar a evolução da globalização e o seu impacto junto dos consumidores. Os antagónicos movimentos de Fast Fashion e Slow Fashion, assumem particular importância no contexto da indústria da Moda, e exprimem diferentes valores estéticos, culturais e sociais que proporcionam diferentes visões no pensamento e vivência dos consumidores, estabelecendo conexões entre as consequências geradas por ambos os movimentos. Através de uma análise SWOT, a presente investigação procura obter uma mais correcta identificação dos valores de cada um destes dois sistemas, fundamentais para a compreensão de uma moda mais consciencializada e justa. Com base nos princípios da Slow Fashion, que valorizam não só as questões da ética e sustentabilidade mas, e sobretudo, a valorização das habilidades tácteis dos artesãos populares portugueses, surge o levantamento das principais técnicas e desenhos utilizados na elaboração do tradicional “Bordado de Viana”, que servirá de suporte à coleção desenvolvida.
ABSTRACT: This essay, of a theoretical and practical nature, is aimed at the observation of new behaviors in markets as well as the new trends of consumption, resulting from the ongoing process of globalization of the Third Industrial Revolution. Starting with the consulting of relevant literature, this research intends to analysis the evolution of the globalization, and the impact on consumers. The antagonistic movements of Fast Fashion and Slow Fashion which are particularly important in the Fashion industry, and express different aesthetical, cultural, and social values that allow us new insights into the thinking and background of consumers, establishing connections between the consequences that arose from these movements. Through a SWOT analysis, the present investigation attempt to obtain a more accurate identification of the values of each of the two systems, which is fundamental in the understanding of a more aware and fair fashion. Based on the principles of Slow Fashion, which hold in high regard not only matters of ethics and sustainability but, first and foremost, the valuing of the labor skills of popular Portuguese artisans, comes up the main techniques and designs used in the production of the traditional “Bordado de Viana” were studied, and served as inspiration for the collection that will be developed.

Resumo: Oduvaldo Vianna Filho é reconhecidamente um dos dramaturgos brasileiros de maior relevância da década de sessenta e setenta. Em sua obra buscou retratar o panorama político nacional, refletindo sobre questões como o imperialismo norte-americano, o papel da militância, a realidade do operariado e do camponês, a universidade, enfim, temáticas que, apesar de serem classificadas como "datadas", ainda hoje geram controvérsias. Dessa forma, esta dissertação de mestrado buscou aprofundar os estudos sobre a obra de Vianinha, tendo como foco central a análise das seguintes peças: A mais-valia vai acabar, seu Edgar; Brasil versão brasileira; O Auto dos 99%; Quatro quadras de terra e Os Azeredos mais os Benevides, produzidas pelo dramaturgo no período em que esteve vinculado ao Centro Popular de Cultura (CPC) da União Nacional dos Estudantes (UNE). As análises foram realizadas com base nas obras de alguns teóricos que exerceram influências sobre o trabalho de Vianinha como, por exemplo, Bertolt Brecht, Erwin Piscator dentre outros. Sendo assim, foram utilizados os conceitos de teatro épico, teatro de revista e agitprop, fundamentais para a compreensão das peças. O resultado deste trabalho visa demonstrar que as obras dramáticas em questão possuem valor artístico e não apenas histórico, social ou político.
Abstract: Oduvaldo Vianna Filho is recognized as one of Brazil's most significant playwrights of the sixties and seventies. In his work he tried to portray the national political landscape, reflecting about some subjects ,like the American imperialism, the role of militancy, the reality of the laborer and peasant, the university, finally, it shows that, despite of being classified as "dated" it still generates controversy. Therefore, this dissertation brought to deep studies on the work of "Vianinha", having as its central focus the analysis of the following plays : "A mais valia vai acabar ", "Seu Edgar";" Brazil versão brasileira";" O Auto dos 99%", " Quatro quadras de terra" and " Os Azeredos e mais Benivedes", produced by the playwright in the period he was linked to the Center for Popular Culture (CPC) of the National Students Union (UNE). The analyzes were performed based on the works of some theorists who have exercised influence on the work of Vianinha such as Bertolt Brecht, Erwin Piscator among others. Therefore, concepts of epic theater were used , musical theater and agitprop, essential for understanding the plays. The result of this paper demonstrates that the dramatic works in question have not only social,historical or political value, but it has more: artistic value.

Full textThis method was extended to enumerate viable oral spirochetes from periodontal pockets. The antibiotic rifampin (20 $ mu$g/ml) was found to be an excellent selective agent for such a count when added to NOS-agarose medium. Counts of cultivable oral spirochetes from 10 subgingival plaque samples ranged from 12.5% to 28.2% of the total cultivable anaerobic bacteria. In addition, by the use of this method thirteen new oral spirochetes were isolated.
The viable count technique was modified and employed to study the locomotion of spirochetes. Migration of oral spirochetes out of NOS-Bacto agar medium into NOS-agarose medium was observed and two locomotory phenotypes of oral spirochetes were detected.

O presente trabalho analisa a formação cultural brasileira em comparação com a norte-americana, conforme as obras Gato preto em campo de neve e A volta do gato preto de Érico Veríssimo e Bandeirantes e pioneiros de Vianna Moog. Contemporâneos da geração que marcou as décadas de 1930 – 40, Veríssimo e Moog foram convidados a residir nos Estados Unidos para fins de intercâmbio cultural, o que lhes permitiu construir as obras citadas. Algumas temáticas predominavam na discussão dos autores, como a comparação dos níveis de desenvolvimento e modernização entre Brasil e Estados Unidos. No entanto, a maior atenção de Moog e Veríssimo parece apontar para o reconhecimento do Brasil em suas peculiaridades culturais, em sua brasilidade. Para isto, os autores se valem do discurso que transita ora no campo da narrativa literária, ora no campo das ciências sociais. Diante disto, esta dissertação está organizada em três capítulos
This thesis analyzes the formation of Brazil’s culture as compared to the North American culture according to the view of two Brazilian authors: Érico Veríssimo, in his books Gato preto em campo de neve and A volta do gato preto, and Vianna Moog, in his book Bandeirantes e pioneiros. Both authors belonged to the epoch-making generation of Brazilian authors who began to write in the thirties and fourties of the 20th century. Both had the opportunity to live in the United States as participants of a cultural exchange program, which made it possible for them to create the mentioned books. Some topics were predominant in the authors’ discussion, such as the comparison between the level of development and modernization in Brazil and in the States. However, both Veríssimo and Moog seem to focus their attention on the recognition of Brazil in its cultural peculiarities, in its idiosyncratic character. Full textThis Dissertation is anchored in the field of Cultural Studies and aims to know and show cultural practices that run between a group of young homoafetivos - that exchange affection with people of same sex – in an urban area of Porto Alegre – Brazil. I analyze the ways by which this group comes lugarizando the space and how such practices can act as resilient in its constitution identity. Young people refer to this place as point, a meeting point, where they meet, talk, date, 'parade' extend warm, where they can - and are keen to - see and be seen, suggesting a natural way of being young, that not only passed by a space, but occupies, trans-figure and often uncomfortable. The group is composed, predominantly by young people in the urban periphery of Porto Alegre, which is in late-afternoon on Sunday, on the outskirts of Shopping Nova Olaria in the Cidade Baixa neighborhood. The entry and frequency of such couples in dependencies of Shopping have been barred, not justified by consumption and behaviour deemed inappropriate, causing them then to occupy the streets, marking it with strong performances homoafetivas, using the walls of the houses, of parked cars from the bus, from the mid-wire of sidewalks. They exposed under the lights of public posts, the headlights of cars, bystanders target of eyes: perfect stage for a youth trans-viada. In the study, treatment such young people without the idea of a youth culture universal and homogeneous, but youths plural, fluid and transitory that by publicly expressing their homoafetos, end trans-viando, in many ways, the settings space, creating a new post. The analyses - composed of comments, diaries, field, photographs, images, sounds, music, clothing, props, conversations, documents, materials printed matter - indicate that these young people are using performance homoafetivas lugarizantes to demarcate a territory, as form of resistance to the order established heteronormative and consumption. Form is a community of resistance to such a specific group of young people who adopts and share practices, not necessarily creating a new model for youth, but other ways of living in space and set up to produce other ways.

Full textThe objective of this thesis is to understand the existing tensions and metamorphoses in the social analysis carried through by for some of the main Brazilian authors of the turn of century XIX for the XX, looking for to demonstrate that, going beyond the racist ideologies gifts in its workmanships, them they tried to understand and to explain the Brazilian society and the culture, opening, thus, to new ways and perspectives for other studies. In this direction the workmanships of Sílvio will be analyzed Romero, Nina Rodrigues, Euclides of Cunha and Oliveira Vianna, taking the analytical perspective to compare as these authors, basic classics and for the understanding of Brazil, had obtained to surpass the racism that appeared inherent in its workmanships, showing a critical boarding 6 in relation to the Brazilian society and approaching cultural and social aspects of Brazil, until then unknown.

Full textDas Ziel dieser Arbeit ist, drei verschiedene Werke von drei unterschiedlichen Autoren der brasilianischen Literatur zu analysieren: Um Rio Imita o Reno (1938) von Vianna Moog, A Asa Esquerda do Anjo (1981) von Lya Luft und Valsa para Bruno Stein (1986) von Charles Kiefer. Die intertextuelle Beziehung existiert wegen der Familien, die einen gleichen deutschen Familiennamen haben, „Wolf“. Es werden nicht nur die Familiennamen analysiert, als auch inhärente Themen der literarischen Texte, wie: Symbole, Familienstruktur, und ihren Kontakt mit der brasilianischen Kultur, wodurch sich eine Hybridisierung ihrer Kultur kristalisiert, die wegen des Verlustes ihrer deutschen kulturellen Elemente stattfindet. Dadurch entstehen neue Aspkete in dieser hybriden Kultur.

Full textThis study deals with travel photography and writing as forms of memory representation in the nineteenth century, specifically between 1840’s and 1880’s. It addresses memory processes of the travel experience from the perspectives of reception and production. These visual and textual representations are witnesses to the extreme experiences which are subject to different filters according to the cultural construction of the other and the self. These representations are embodied in the archetypal form of the book. The conception of photography as a representation of nature by index finds in the book its configuration and identity. In this way, the first editions of photographically illustrated books carry the imprint of the truth of nature and world knowledge revealed to man, hence the relevance of photographic device in the history of science. In this study, travel writing is understood not as a literary genre but as a way to assimilate and represent the journey. The photograph will be studied not only through historical lineage but by cultural discourses based on notions such as identity and otherness. It will address in detail the experience of four travelers: Maxime du Camp, John Thomson, William Bradford and Arthur Rimbaud, who through photographic imagery and text built their testimony.

Full textEl presente trabajo de tesis es el diseño de un modelo de negocio de restaurant con propuesta de valor de patrimonio alimentario chileno. El desarrollo metodológico consideró en primer lugar caracterizar y delimitar el mercado gastronómico nacional. En segunda instancia se desarrolló y testeó una propuesta de valor de restaurant con patrimonio alimentario chileno. Finalmente, tomando como referencia la metodología Canvas, se diseñó un modelo de negocios, con el cual fue posible determinar flujos de ingresos y costos para validar la factibilidad económica de éste. En cuanto al mercado gastronómico nacional, a través del estudio en profundidad de dos importantes reservorios de información se pudo observar que hasta fines del 2013, existían más de 4.000 restaurantes, concentrados principalmente en la Región Metropolitana (50%) y la región de Valparaíso (25%). Además, una porción significativa de éstos se especializaba en comida chilena (17%), existiendo una amplia gama de especialidades y rango de precios. Luego de esto, al entrevistar a tres administradores de restaurant, se obtuvo información respecto de los principales tipos de costos y patrones de consumo de los clientes. Por último, al estudiar los hábitos de consumo en una muestra de más de 100 personas, se pudo observar que el 67% de las personas prefirió restaurantes en un rango de precios entre $10 a $15 mil pesos, priorizando la calidad de la comida y luego la calidad del servicio, que su especialidad favorita fue la peruana y lo que más eligieron al momento de decidir por un plato fue pescados y mariscos y que dos tercios declararon ir a restaurantes en un rango de precios entre $10 a $15 mil pesos 3 veces al meses o más, mientras que sólo en ocasiones especiales a los de un rango de precios entre $20 a $25 mil pesos. Hasta el 2013 había sólo dos estudios respecto a la propuesta de valor de un restaurant con patrimonio alimentario. Uno en la región de Tarapacá y otro en la región de Valparaíso. Esto a diferencia del ejemplo cercano de Perú, país en el que se ha desarrollado el concepto de patrimonio alimentario, lo que hace que su gastronomía sea reconocida a nivel mundial. Por ello, se desarrolló una propuesta de valor preliminar tomando como referencia el trabajo de Sonia Montecinos. Luego, al testearla, se pudo determinar que el plato de mayor preferencia fue el pastel de jaibas, seguido de la chorrillana, el caldillo de congrio y las machas a la parmesana. Por último, en cuanto al diseño del modelo de negocios, a través de la metodología Canvas se delimitó que el escenario más favorable fue situar al establecimiento en un rango de precios entre $10 a $15 mil pesos, ubicarlo en el sector Cerro Alegre/Cerro Concepción, atender cuidadosamente a los procesos de abastecimiento y de cadena culinaria, promocionar mediante redes sociales, redes de referidos y fidelización de clientes y considerar como factor clave de éxito la conservación de las productos y recetas patrimoniales. Como conclusión final, se obtuvo que el modelo de negocio es viable técnica y económicamente. Nesta tese, buscou-se compreender o turismo cultural a partir da sua difusão por parte da Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura (UNESCO) em países em desenvolvimento, na década de 1960. Os princípios e os mecanismos de difusão analisados foram a assistência técnica, o consultor em missão e o relatório técnico. Foi destacada a vinda do francês Michel Parent, que definiu diretrizes para a criação de um programa sobre o tema pelo governo brasileiro, elencou o que chamou de cidades de arte para o recebimento de investimentos e guiou as missões seguintes para atender aos projetos prioritários em Salvador, pelo inglês Graeme Shankland; em Parati, pelo belga Frédéric Limburg Stirum, e em Ouro Preto, pelo português Alfredo Viana de Lima. Esses consultores consideraram o planejamento de longo prazo, incluindo o plano diretor, a elaboração de um orçamento e o compromisso entre instituições e governos como garantias e instrumentos para sua execução, o que respaldava um pedido de financiamento internacional para a realização das ações necessárias à implantação do turismo cultural. A cidade de arte, objeto do olhar e das propostas de intervenção, foi vista como um potencial cenário a ser preparado, organizado, transformado, limpo de elementos estranhos a uma ordem desejada, de modo a oferecer espaços de fruição e animação cultural para um visitante, além de usos para um mercado, do comércio e dos serviços, e para atender à nova demanda do turismo internacional.

This dissertation examines the representation of communities of German immigrant descendants in Rio Grande do Sul, during the Estado Novo, from the perspective of two literary works written by authors from this state, during the period: Um rio imita o Reno (“A river imitates the Reno”), by Vianna Moog, published in 1939, and Longe do Reno – uma resposta a Vianna Moog (“Far from Reno – an answer to Vianna Moog”), by Bayard Mércio, published in 1940. Is held a discussion about how these immigrants were perceived in their relationship with Brazilian society; in other words, whether there was an integration of these groups into the culture of the country and in the defense of national interests, or if they were still living the culture of their ancestors and maintaining relationships with German politics.

Full textEl paisaje geográfico ha sido siempre el atractivo de todo ser humano porque allí se expresa la curiosidad de conocer el mundo que nos rodea. Las formas de presentar o describir estos paisajes llenan los libros de literatura y en el caso peruano están los trabajos de todos los escritores en mayor o menor grado. Así, a comienzos del siglo XX destaca la figura del historiador José de la Riva-Agüero y Osma, un aristócrata limeño que realizó un viaje heroico para la época en que no habían carreteras y cubrió a lomo de bestia el trecho entre Cusco y Ocopa, en el valle del Mantaro. Aquí se hace una breve descripción de la experiencia realizada en octubre de 2012, en donde se buscó captar algunas impresiones que pudieron haber marcado la visión de este viajero acerca de la vida de la población andina y que, de alguna manera, le hicieron cambiar su pensamiento político.

Full textLegionella pneumophila, the causative agent of legionellosis is transmitted to human through aerosols from environmental sources and invades lung’s macrophages. It also can replicate within various protozoan species in environmental reservoirs. Following exposures to various stresses, L. pneumophila enters a Viable Non Cultivable state (VBNC) which is likely to be a survival strategy. The objective of our work was to study the VBNC forms of several strains of L. pneumophila serogroup 1 obtained after thermal and chemical treatments and to evaluate the infectivity of these VBNC forms against macrophages and alveolar epithelial cells. First we studied the physiological patterns of the three different strains (Philadelphia GFP 008, 044 clinical and environmental RNN). For all strains we observed the presence of VBNC bacteria in the native (non stressed) state. The results show that for each strain, three populations of Legionella can be identified: viable and culturable, VBNC and dead cells. Once submitted to the various stresses, we observed that each strain had its own physiological pattern and the presence (or not) of VBNC bacteria was dependent on the applied treatment and the strain used. The second part was related to the study of the pathogenicity of these VBNC forms against macrophages or epithelial cells. The study focused on heat shock treatment at 70°C for 30 min and chlorine dioxide treatment at 4, 6 and 7 mg/L for 60 min at room temperature. The results show that no Legionella VBNC forms were able to grow within the cells and no growth on BCYE medium was observed after co-culture. Then we investigated the behavior of L. pneumophila resuscitated after culture on ameba within macrophages. The results shows that Legionella VBNC induced by heat shock treatment and resuscitated by Acanthamoeba polyphaga co-culture are able to infect macrophages. In conclusion, these results suggest that: (i) the VBNC forms of L. pneumophila are not infectious for macrophages and alveolar epithelial cells in vitro and; (ii) they can be pathogenic for human cells after revivification by an amoeba (A. polyphaga)

Full textEn esta monografía nos interesamos en el ámbito de literatura infantil, basando el análisis en el libro Pippi Långstrump de Astrid Lindgren y la traducción Pippi Calzaslargas realizada por Blanca Ríos. Nuestro interés se centrará en el campo contrastivo entre el sueco y el español, poniendo de relieve que no sólo se realiza la traducción entre dos lenguas diferentes, sino también entre dos culturas diferentes. Observaremos en el estudio cómo se logra transferir el contexto de una cultura a otra y lo que eventualmente se desfigura en la traducción. Examinaremos varios ejemplos de conceptos culturales que aparecen en la obra, presentando las estrategias que utiliza la traductoras para adaptarlos al texto meta así como el efecto de no adaptarlos. A través de los ejemplos podremos averiguar si ha logrado obtener equivalencia entre ambos textos o si las adaptaciones implementadas han cambiado el significado del texto de destino.
El presente estudio muestra que se han utilizado varias estrategias para transmitir los conceptos culturales y la conclusión es que la traductora ha optado por una estrategia dirigida hacia el lector y la cultura de la lengua meta, según defienden varios traductólogos de la literatura infantil.

According to this general purpose, this work is justified by two global objectives that articulate both arguments and its formal structure. Firstly, it presents a new documentation which lights up some D’Ors hardly known positions and relations with intellectuals and politicians that are far from the lines of interpretation of many of the authors who have studied his life and work. In the second instance, this thesis tries to review some of the most important studies on his figure that have been directed implicitly or explicitly by the perspective of European fascism’s intellectual origins established several decades ago by Zeev Sternhell.

Esta dissertação de mestrado é uma tradução cultural comentada ao português brasileiro dos contos "Los nutrieros", "En defensa propia", "Los ojos del traidor" e "El viaje circular", presentes na obra Cuento para tahúres y otros relatos policiales, escritos por Rodolfo Jorge Walsh (1927-1977) entre 1951 e 1961 e publicados em 1987, dez anos após sua morte. Walsh foi um dos mais representativos escritores argentinos do século XX,o qual revolucionou a literatura de seu tempo, tanto no que se refere ao tratamento que dava aos problemas sociais e políticos como nas questões estéticas de sua obra. Nosso corpus é composto de contos do gênero policial, dessa forma, procuramos encontrar a melhor maneira de levar à língua fonte (espanhol) as características desse gênero na língua alvo(português). O trabalho divide-se em três capítulos, sendo o primeiro um ensaio introdutório sobre a construção de Walsh como escritor, enfatizando o policial, gênero ao qual os contos, objeto desse estudo, pertencem. Esse capítulo tem como objetivo apresentar o escritor e seu gênero de escrita ao leitor brasileiro. Já o segundo trata de um trabalho com questões relacionadas ao projeto tradutório:a tradução cultural comentada, que servirá de suporte teórico para o terceiro e último capítulo, no qual se dá a apresentação da tradução feita juntamente com os comentários sobre o percurso.
Abstract : This Master Thesis is a cultural translation commented from Spanish to Brazilian Portuguese of the tales "En defensa propia", "Los nutrieros", "Losojos del traidor" and "El viaje circular", from the book Cuento para tahúresy otros relatos policiales, written by Rodolfo Jorge Walsh (1927-1977) between 1951 and 1961 and which were published in 1987, 10 years afterhis death. Walsh was one of the most significant Argentine writers of thet wentieth century, which revolutionized the literature of his time, not onlyin social and politic terms but also aesthetics issues. Our corpus consists oftales of the detective genre, this way, we find the best way to get to the source language (Spanish) the characteristics of this genre in the target language (Portuguese).The work presented here contains three chapters: the first being an introductory essay on the construction of Walsh as a writer, emphasizing the cop genre to which the tales, the object of this study belong; aiming to introduce him and his style to Brazilian readers; the second is to work with issues related to the project of translation: translating cultural commentary, which will provide theoretical support for the thirdand final chapter, in which he gives a presentation of the translation made with the submission of comments on the route.

Full textEntitled Séville dans les guides de voyage français et espagnols (XIX-XXe siècles) [Seville in French and Spanish Travel Guides (XIXth-XXth centuries)], this dissertation intends to analyze the image of the Andalusian capital in the barely studied corpus of travel guides, from their emergence in the modern times until the dawn of mass tourism. The first part is meant to study how Franco-Spanish political and cultural relations shaped one—or more—picture(s) of Spain that varied from the “Black Legend” (1700-1823) to the “Red Legend” (1823-1905)—when travel guides were established as a genre—to the “Pink Legend” (1905-1962). The second part shows that guides, as vehicles of various temporal, spatial, historical, artistic, social and human representations, are ideal sources for cultural historians. Contrary to common beliefs, there is no single pattern for travel guides and this work intends to classify them. In the third part, the richness of the sources enables us to show that by appropriating such concepts as the picturesque or the exotic for example, but mostly by taking up or refuting stereotypes such as that of Spain as all “fanfare and tambourine”—in poet Antonio Machado’s words—, the varied forms adopted by guides have an influence on our perception of reality and on our representations. Thus the examination of the intersecting perspectives provided by guides constitutes a new approach to the relations between France and Spain and a fruitful starting point to tackle the construction of a discourse on the dialectics of identity and alterity. Bajo el título Sevilla en las guías de viaje francesas y españolas (siglos XIX-XX), la tesis propone analizar la imagen de la capital de Andalucía en el corpus genérico poco estudiado de las guías de viaje, desde su emergencia moderna hasta el advenimiento del turismo de masas. La primera parte de la tesis muestra como las relaciones políticas y culturales franco-españolas crearon una o varias imágenes de España que variaron a lo largo del periodo estudiado, desde la « leyenda negra » (1700-1823) hasta la « leyenda rosa » (1905-1962), pasando por la « leyenda roja » (1823-1905), periodo durante el cual el género de la guía de viaje se afirma. La segunda parte considerará las guías como unas fuentes ideales para la historia cultural ya que se pueden apreciar como vectores de diversas representaciones temporales, espaciales, históricas, artísticas, sociales, humanas. En efecto, a pesar de las ideas preconcebidas al respecto, no existe un único modelo de guía: podemos establecer una clasificación. Por fin, la riqueza del corpus estudiado permite mostrar, en una tercera parte, que las diferentes formas que la guía puede adoptar actúan sobre la percepción de la realidad y sobre las representaciones, apropiándose conceptos como lo pintoresco y lo exótico, y sobre todo utilizando o desmintiendo las imágenes estereotipadas de una España « de charanga y pandereta », según la expresión del poeta Antonio Machado. Por este doble motivo, el examen de las miradas cruzadas constituye un acercamiento nuevo para explicar las relaciones entre Francia y España, y a la vez un punto de partida fecundo para abordar la construcción de un discurso acerca de la pareja nocional identidad/alteridad. Full textCultura da Desintegração é uma metáfora que descreve as transformações ocorridas numa amostra específica do Litoral Norte de Viana do Castelo. O abandono das estruturas e territórios agrícolas são traduzidos em Desintegração, enquanto instrumento de um olhar específico sobre um território específico. Reconhecendo que o território atual, e a amostra, são resultado de várias inscrições e transcrições ao longo do tempo, propomos desenvolver um exercício de representação e interpretação que se baseia em sucessivos levantamentos in situ e na construção de Mapas e Fotografias da Desintegração. Estes conteúdos são as formas de expressão de uma linguagem alternativa que procura a crítica atualizada através um envolvimento físico e do enraizamento temporal. Mapas e Fotografias são apresentados em função de três processos, Processos da Desintegração que aludem a três diferentes formas de intervenção humana nos ciclos da Desintegração: Enxertar, Adubar e Semear. Destes processos realçamos diferentes níveis que relacionam o território e a Desintegração com a sociedade e o indivíduo que os molda. Em Enxertar damos visibilidade às transformações ocorridas sobretudo na encosta da amostra e derivadas da expansão urbana da cidade de Viana. Identificamos os componentes da enxertia, o Cavalo e o Ramo, e duas técnicas distintas, a Enxertia de Garfo e a Enxertia de Placa. Estas situações questionam a adaptação e integração dos novos modelos construtivos, sucessoras da expansão urbana, com a matriz de pré-existência rural. Na maioria nos casos, esta relação estabelece-se mediante regimes severos de supressão e fissuração da matriz, resultando em construções heterogéneas que fazem tábua-rasa da realidade que vão integrar. No segundo processo, Adubar, aludimos aos à desintegração da orla e das atividades costeiras como instigadoras da Desintegração. Neste sentido estabelecemos um percurso que pretende analisar três formas de adubação: Adubação Foliar, como uma forma de adubação superficial; a Adubação Fracionada, que implica regimes periódicos de intervenção; e a Adubação de Fundo, respetiva à pré-emergência da cultura e adubação do solo lavrado. Neste âmbito enunciamos as práticas de apropriação que marcam a orla na atualidade, entre o depósito de lixos e a construção de campos de futebol. Reconstruimos uma vez mais a matriz pré-existente, para ilustrar uma situação de equilíbrio entre população e território. Finalizamos com Semear. Neste âmbito apontamos para a desintegração da veiga e os três níveis que enunciamos são: a Sementeira, o Semeador e a Semente. Neste Processo começamos por incidir na desintegração da estrutura fundiária. A investigação em torno da estrutura parcelar minifundiária demonstra como a questão da propriedade condicionou a modernização das pequenas unidades de exploração agrícola. Da profunda ruralidade que caracterizou a amostra durante todo o Estado Novo, emergiu a necessidade urgente de integração nos mercados globais e nas políticas comunitárias (PAC). A situação atual desenha um abismo entre os programas e fundos políticos investidos e propagandeados e a generalização de parcelas abandonadas, ou sem expressividade produtiva. No cerne da questão reside o regime de propriedade, que sustenta e sustentou a obtenção de lucros a partir da simples posse de terra cultivável. Por fim, concluímos com Respigar, enquanto formulamos e apresentamos a sínteses respetivas à Desintegração do Litoral Norte de Viana do Castelo. Este último capítulo refere-se à nossa intervenção na Cultura, que através da respiga de dados concretos e experiência construiu uma instância crítica e, possivelmente, operativa para o reconhecimento deste território.
Disintegration Culture is a metaphor meant to describe the changes occurring in a specific sample of the North Coast of Viana do Castelo. The abandonment of the agricultural structures and areas are translated into Disintegration, as a tool for a specific look over a specific territory. Recognizing that the current territory, and its sample, are the result of several inscriptions and transcripts over time, we develop an exercise of representation and interpretation, based on successive in-situ surveys and in the construction of Maps and Photographs of Disintegration. These contents are forms of expression fof an alternative language that seeks for updated critical envolvement, through a physical and temporal rooting. Maps and Fotographies are presented in three processes, Processess of Disintegration allud to three different forms of human intervention in the cycles of Disintegration and consequently in the territory: Grafting, Composting and Sowing. These Processes emphasize different levels that relate the territory and culture with society and the individual expression that changes it. On Grafting, we give visibility to the changes occurred mainly on the slope of the sample and derived from the expansion of Viana do Castelo. We identify the components of Grafting, the Horse and the Branch, and two different techniques, the Fork Graft’ and Plate Graft. These situations challenge the adaptation and integration of new models of building, successors of urban expansion, with the pre-existence rural pattern. In most of these cases, this relation is established through severe strategies of removing and cracking the pre-existent pattern, which results in heterogeneous structures making tabula-rasa of the reality that they will integrate. In the second process, Composting, reffers to the Disintegration of the waterfront and of coastal activities as instigators of the Disintegration itself. In this sense, we establish a path that leads to the analyzes of three different composting applications: the Foliar Composting, as a form of surface fertilization; the Fractionated Composting, which involves periodic intervention regimes, and the Fund Composting, which is respective to the pre-emergence of the culture and the tilled soil. Within this, we state practices of appropriation that nowadays mark the waterfornt, between waste deposti and the construction of a sports field. Once again we reconstruct the pre-existing pattern to illustrate a balanced situation between population and territory. We end with Sowing. In this content, we point to the Disintegration of the plain and the three levels enunciated are: the Sow, the Sower and the Seed. With this process we look for the disintegration of the agricultural structure. The research around the parcel structure demonstrates how the issue of ownership conditioned the modernization of small farm units. From the deep rurality that characterized that sample during Estado Novo, emerged the necessity of urgent integration in the global markets and in Community politics (PAC). The current situation draws an abyss between the political programs advertized and funds invested with the generalization of the abandoned parcels. Finally, we conclude with Gleaning while formulate and present the respective syntheses to Disintegration of the North Coast of Viana do Castelo. This last chapter refers to our intervention in the Culture, which through the process of gleaning concrete data and physical experiences, builted a critical instance and, possibly, operative for the recognition of this territory.

The Vianense popular culture in the folkloristic politics of the Estado Novo is the subject of the current work which has as objective the research, study and analysis of the Vianense popular culture, during the Estado Novo regime. Full textEste Projeto de Mestrado assenta na Ponte Eiffel de Viana do Castelo, obra edificada no século XIX, integrada no vasto Património Industrial português. O principal objetivo deste trabalho consiste na criação efetiva de um espaço físico, um Centro de Interpretação, dedicado a esta ponte. Deste modo, pretende proporcionar a fruição desse legado, através da sua História, dos seus aspetos materiais e imateriais, a todos aqueles que o visitem, cimentando a identidade coletiva das gentes do Alto Minho. Este trabalho divide-se em duas componentes, a teórica, dedicada essencialmente à História, e a componente de Marketing. Para esta última, foram elaborados dois questionários online, um deles para perceber o que os inquiridos pensam acerca da cidade de Viana do Castelo enquanto destino turístico, o outro questionário, pretende perceber o que os inquiridos sabem relativamente a alguns aspetos associados à Ponte Eiffel de Viana do Castelo, bem como a importância que atribuem a determinados aspetos fundamentais para desenvolver o Projeto, tais como a importância que dão ao Património, à Cultura, etc. Os estudos realizados permitiram perceber que em ambos os casos, obtivemos indicadores de que este Projeto pode ser bem sucedido. Isto é, estão reunidos os requisitos mínimos para que a sua viabilidade seja efetiva, quer considerando a cidade, dada a sua boa reputação como destino turístico, quer pelo valor cultural percebido deste Projeto.
This Master's project is based on the Eiffel Bridge in Viana do Castelo, work built in the nineteenth century, and part of the vast Portuguese Industrial heritage. The main objective of this work is the effective creation of a physical space, an Interpretation Centre, dedicated to this bridge. This is intended to provide the enjoyment of this legacy through its history, its material and immaterial aspects, to all those who visit, improving the collective identity of the people of the Alto Minho. This work is divided into two parts, the theoretical, devoted mainly to the History, and the Marketing component. For the latter, were developed two online questionnaires, one to realize what the respondents think about the city of Viana do Castelo as a tourist destination, the other questionnaire aims to understand what the respondents know about some aspects associated with the Eiffel Bridge of Viana do Castelo, and the importance they give to certain key to developing the project, such as the importance given to Heritage, Culture, etc. In both studies we obtained indications that this project can be well succeed. That is, the minimum requirements for their viability as an effective project were meted, considering even the city, given its reputation as a tourist destination, or the perceived cultural value of this project.

Full textThis paper focuses on the relationship between the phenomenon of criminal recidivism and prison culture. It appears that every inmate entering the prison just for being exposed to a new culture provided with formal values - values that relate to the institution - and informal values - those that are intrinsic to inmates and that are generated as a result of their own deprivation - they assume forms of conduct code, contrasting strongly with the standards of living outside the prison. One way or another, the prison culture ends up interfering in conventional social ties, family relations, the prospects for employment, and is reflected at the level of adaptation and social exclusion of the prisoner. This is how we the work aims to study the dynamics of criminal recidivism resulting from the process of adaptation in prison and readjusting to freedom. For this, were performed 20 interviews semi-structured and conducted in form semi-directive to inmates of the Viana Prison, in Angola, which were later submitted to the technique of content analysis, having been obtained results that undermine, in a sense, the role resocializing assigned to that prison institution and, as consequence, the paradigm of criminal justice Angolan.

Full textABSTRACT This dissertation intends to enlarge the knowledge about the party bandstands, particularly in the examples identified in the Municipality of Viana do Castelo, contributing, to their valorization. Particularly in the 19th and 20th century, free music concerts were a way of educating societies, promoting regular meeting places for people of all statutes and ages to watch the performance of philharmonic bands. The bandstands constitute the built-up materialization of a support of this cultural manifestation, assuming themselves as fundamental elements in the promotion of their community relations. Over time, there has been a progressive and generalized demolition, due to the small area of the stage, insufficient to accommodate the philharmonic bands, with all its elements and instruments. Temporary structures, such as reversible stages, were constituted as a complement or alternative to this solution. Currently, there are nineteen copies in the Municipality of Viana do Castelo, some abandoned or in an advanced state of degradation, used sporadically on festive occasions of popular character. Of the estate analyzed, only two are classified as monuments, out of a total of seventy two national bandstands. In the pursuit of the established objectives, we identified and characterized the still existing examples, indicating their fundamental formal and functional characteristics, based on the inventory structure of the Information System for Architectural Heritage, managed by the Directorate-General of Cultural Heritage. In addition, it was sought to interpret its relation with the public space of framing, as well as its relation with the architectural elements of reference in its surroundings. From the comparison made, indicating the constants and asymmetries verified in the inventoried set, a third correlation was carried out objectively in the comparison with the characteristics of the two classified elements and in the possible possibility of extrapolation of its exceptionality regime.

Full textOver the decades there has been a growing awareness of current to the maintenance and rehabilitation of vacant buildings or in poor condition, in order to preserve the architectural heritage and revitalize urban and historical or rural centers. In this sense, this dissertation is a reconversion proposal of the former court of Santa Maria da Feira, designed by the architect Viana de Lima, inserted in a context of high urban density, into a cultural center with multiple valences. The state of negligence of a noble building and the need for a physical space as a supplement to cultural offer united as a baseline concepts for the development of an architectural project. The proposal is divided in three phases of study - general contextualization, analysis of the devoluto architectural object and the practical case of reconversion of the building. In a first moment, it is intended, using various sources, to know the historical and social scene, the architect, works and intentions and the architectural movement concerned. The second phase, assuming the condition of the guiding thread between the first and the last moment of study, is essentially summarized in the understanding of the built up in its different stages, from the idea to the current state of depredation, and in its geographic and socio-cultural context. Based on concepts acquired in the previous points, a rehabilitation / reconversion proposal was developed resulting from the metamorphosis of a space with civil functions, which is converted to respond to the needs imposed, acquiring ludic functions.

No caso do concelho de Viana do Castelo (Alto Minho, Portugal), a vontade de criar um espaço que demonstrasse a memória, os costumes e tradições vianenses fizeram com que germinasse o presente objeto de estudo de caso: o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo. O que se pretende com o presente estudo de caso é dar a conhecer uma instituição Etnográfica que contextualiza e estuda vários aspetos relacionados com a Museologia, Etnografia e um conjunto de objetos e saberes que faziam e fazem parte da construção da identidade cultural local vianense. Mas será o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo um construtor da identidade cultural local vianense? Quais os difusores da construção da identidade cultural local vianense? Existem diversas questões às quais é preciso se dar resposta, porém, para atingir os objetivos supracitados, é necessário referir o principal propósito da presente dissertação de mestrado, que passa pela resposta à seguinte pergunta de partida: “Qual o papel do Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo na construção da Identidade Cultural Local Vianense?”. De forma a responder à questão e a objetivos dela decorrentes, foram analisadas referências bibliográficas digitais e não digitais sobre a temática da construção da identidade cultural local vianense, recorrendo-se a metodologias de cariz essencialmente qualitativo. Chegou-se à conclusão de que o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo possui um papel ativo na construção da identidade cultural local vianense através da conservação e transmissão, às gerações futuras, do conhecimento, memória e tradições vianenses através de um conjunto de símbolos culturais que são difusores da construção da identidade cultural local vianense.
There is much debate about the concept of the Museum. However, it is unanimous that it is a basic element for the transmission of knowledge and social dynamism of a given community. In the case of the municipality of Viana do Castelo (Alto Minho, Portugal), the will to create a space that would demonstrate the memory, customs and traditions of vianese people made the present object of case study germinate: the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo. The purpose of this case study is to make known an Ethnographic institution that contextualizes and studies several aspects related to Museology, Ethnography and a set of objects and knowledge that were and are part of the construction of the local cultural identity of vianense. But is the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo a builder of the local vianense cultural identity? What are the diffusers of the construction of the local vianense cultural identity? There are several questions that need to be answered, however, in order to achieve the above mentioned objectives, it is necessary to mention the main purpose of this Master's dissertation, which includes the answer to the following starting question: “What is the role of the Museum of Costume of Viana do Castelo in the construction of the Local Cultural Identity of Vianense?”. In order to answer the question and the resulting objectives, digital and non-digital bibliographic references on the construction of the local cultural identity of vianense were analysed, using methodologies of an essentially qualitative nature. To conclude, it is possible to admit that currently the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo has an active role in the construction of the local vianense cultural identity through the conservation and transmission to future generations of the knowledge, memory and traditions of vianense. This is made through a set of cultural symbols that are diffusers of the construction of the local vianense cultural identity.

A presente dissertação desloca a noção de grafia, enquanto elemento de formação do vocábulo topografia, de modo a ampliar a compreensão da importância da apreensão de aspetos do solo terrestre, através de um processo de caminhar interior e exterior; isto é, tornando operativa a memória permanentemente esculpida no processo de rememoração da visita aos três estudos de caso eleitos: A Cidade da Cultura projetada por Peter Eisenman, a Casa em Moledo projetada por Eduardo Souto Moura, e o Cemitério de Igualada projetado por Enric Miralles e Carme Pinós. Procurar-se-á investir a comunicação destas três visitas de uma natureza corpórea ; convocar os sentidos, de modo a atualizar a compreensão dos gestos dos arquitetos. Por último, revisitar-se-á o exercício académico, desenvolvido no âmbito da disciplina de Projeto III, com o objetivo de dar a ver o modo como a dimensão operativa da topo[graphia] esteve sempre presente – enquanto modo de nos encontrarmos com o mundo, no acontecer do lugar, pelo [re]conhecimento da paisagem.
The present dissertation displaces the notion of graphy, as an element in the formation of the word topography, in order to broaden the understanding of the importance of apprehending aspects of the terrestrial soil, through a process of moving forward inside and outside; i.e., through turning the permanently sculpted memory, in the rememoration process of the visit to the three selected case studies, operative: The City of Culture designed by Peter Eisenman, the House in Moledo designed by Eduardo Souto Moura, and the Cemetery of Igualada designed by Enric Miralles and Carme Pinós. It is our aim to invest the communication of these three visits with a corporeal nature; summon the senses, in order to update the understanding of the architects' gestures. Finally, we will revisit the academic exercise, developed within the scope of the discipline Project III, in order to make visible how the operative dimension of topo[graphy] has always been present – as a way of meeting the world, at the place’s event, through landscape [re]cognition.

A dissertação tem como objectivo entender como as diferentes disciplinas associadas à arquitectura foram, são, e poderão ser utilizadas de modo a que se consigam criar espaços/ obras que respondam às questões programáticas estruturais, urbanas e sociais que as cidades e os praticantes de desporto querem ver resolvidas. O modo como as diferentes obras escolhidas são construídas, as estruturas, os contextos urbanos diferem muito entre as mesmas. Desta maneira a investigação é vasta para que se possa construir ou chegar a uma consideração final o mais precisa possível. Optou-se por estudar obras feitas por arquitectos bastante relevantes no panorama português e formados na Escola Superior de Belas-Artes do Porto, José Carlos Loureiro (1925), Álvaro Siza Vieira (1933) e Eduardo Souto de Moura (1952), sendo os dois últimos galardoados com o prémio Pritzker, em 1992 e 2011 respectivamente.
The dissertation aims to understand how the different disciplines associated with architecture were, are, and could be used in order to create spaces / works that respond to the structural, urban and social programmatic questions that cities and sports practitioners want see resolved. The way the different chosen works are constructed, the structures, the urban contexts differ greatly between themselves. In this way the investigation is vast so that one can construct or arrive at a final consideration as precise as possible. It was decided to study works made by architects very relevant in the Portuguese panorama and trained at the Superior School of Fine Arts of Porto, José Carlos Loureiro (1925), Álvaro Siza Vieira (1933) and Eduardo Souto de Moura (1952), with the latter two being awarded the Pritzker Prize in 1992 and 2011 respectively.
