Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar o Sermão 288, de Agostinho de Hipona, extraindo dali algumas notas características do chamado uerbum in corde ou uerbum cordis, que constitui parte da linguagem mental. Linguagem mental ou discurso interior é a parte da filosofia que procura explicar as atividades mentais que antecedem a linguagem falada e escrita ou, de um modo mais geral, os sinais, os sons e os gestos. Embora não seja de modo sistematizado, esse tema aparece em vários escritos de Agostinho. No Sermão 288, o uerbum pode ser de dois tipos: aquele que é proferido por meio de som e aquele que é concebido no interior do coração. A escrita é um signum do som. Em Agostinho, o uerbum in corde ou uerbum cordis possui a propriedade de significar, de ser concebido no coração, de ser conservado na memória, de viver no entendimento, de não pertencer a nenhuma língua, de permanecer íntegro no coração, de se servir do auxílio do som para se dar a conhecer a um determinado ouvinte e de ser anterior a todas as línguas, uma vez que a todas antecede. O uerbum in corde agostiniano exemplifica a linguagem mental na sua vertente latina, originada por questões teológicas acerca da Encarnação.

El presente artículo gira en torno a la eliminación del antefuturo de subjuntivo (hubiere cantado) del español peninsular. Además de analizar la historia, el empleo y las causas de la desaparición de dicha forma, el autor aprovecha los datos recopilados en el corpus CORDE para registrar los primeros síntomas de su debilidad en el sistema verbal castellano.

Con base en el estudio de caso del lexema acaso, contrastado (Aijmer 2013; Kresić & Batinić 2014) con la partícula croata zar, cuestionamos la inexistencia (Tanghe 2016) de partículas modales en español proponiendo criterios sintácticos y semánticos (Sesar 2005) para su distinción. Partiendo del uso que indica una pérdida de valor proposicional, investigamos la gramaticalización que convierte el sustantivo en una partícula, siendo el adverbio un grado intermedio (Hopper & Closs Traugott 2003). Como corpus comparable usamos traducciones croatas y españolas de la Biblia y la versión española de una novela croata. La comprobación de datos se realiza mediante un análisis intralingüístico, recurriendo a los córpora sincrónico (CORPES) y diacrónico (CORDE). Asumiendo la continuidad entre las categorías de los marcadores, modales y del discurso (Cuenca 2013), identificamos los rasgos prototípicos de las partículas. En el análisis interlingüístico nos centramos en la correspondencia del valor ilocutivo entre acaso y zar en croata y en el intralingüístico comprobamos los rasgos sintácticos y funcionales (la dependencia sintáctica, la distribución y el valor ilocutivo) que permiten distinguir las partículas modales de los adverbios modales por un lado y de los operadores modales por el otro.

Para la RAE (2009), un grupo numeroso de locuciones verbales contiene pronombres personales átonos, casi siempre lo, la o las, cuyo referente a veces se intuye contextualmente, pero queda sin especificar en la mayor parte de los casos: es el llamado complemento directo lexicalizado. Dado su particular comportamiento, estas construcciones normalmente son consideradas dentro de los estudios de fraseología como un tipo de locuciones con clítico y suponen un gran interés por la interrelación entre léxico, sintaxis y morfología que implican. Tradicionalmente también se ha planteado la necesidad de un estudio histórico para intentar desentrañar la referencia oculta de los clíticos en estas construcciones fosilizadas. En este trabajo presentaré el caso de pirárselas (a partir de los datos de CORDE y CREA), particularmente interesante por cuanto parece mostrar una extraña compatibilidad sintáctica del constituyente representado por el clítico, pues resulta muy extraño considerar que un uso intransitivo verbal, indicando desplazamiento del sujeto, pueda combinarse con un clítico femenino plural que señala complemento directo: no parece haber ningún tipo de correferencialidad posible para las. En nuestra propuesta vamos a demostrar que dicha correferencialidad existe y permitirá aclarar sin ambages el significado de la construcción. El recorrido histórico que efectuaremos nos obligará a estudiar también el caso de otras construcciones con significado similar, como tomarlas, afufarlas, apeldarlas, liarlas, volarlas, guillárselas y tocárselas. Nos serviremos de conceptos metodológicos como subjetivación y analogía para explicar lo sucedido con la presencia del clítico femenino en estas construcciones.

En el artículo se examina el problema de la subjuntivización de la forma verbal española cantara que procede del pluscuamperfecto de indicativo latino cantaveram. Actualmente, cantara es alomorfo de cantase siendo el valor gramatical de ambas formas el del imperfecto de subjuntivo. En el trabajo se analiza la alternancia modal en la construcción quiso que cantase / cantara. El material procede del Corpus Diacrónico del Español (CORDE) de la Real Academia Española (RAE) y abarca los años 1580-1930.

Resumo Neste artigo sobre a arte verbal do cordel, parte da pesquisa de doutorado O gênero do cordel sob a perspectiva crítica do discurso, examino a utilização das diversas vozes presentes em um texto. Esse recurso assume especial importância nos cordéis, para conferir maior dramaticidade a estes e, em consequência, prender a atenção do leitor/ouvinte. Para compreender esse mecanismo, utilizo-me do referencial da análise do discurso, na formulação de Fairclough e de Martin e Rose, e da Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional, como formulada por Halliday. Com base na comparação entre o uso do discurso direto e do discurso indireto, verifica-se o quanto a luta com palavras (semelhante à peleja e ao desafio) confere vivacidade e dramaticidade às narrativas em cordel.

Parfois, l’enseignement des langues semble oublier que les langues sont vivantes et qu’elles obéissent à des rythmes précis. Avant que d’être écrites, les langues sont parlées et impliquent plusieurs éléments physiques : cordes vocales, appareil phonatoire, muscles, mais également le corps entier pour les dimensions paraverbales et non verbales (Cosnier & Brossard, 1984). La question qui se pose dès lors est « comment favoriser l’articulation des dimensions verbale, paraverbale et non-verbale chez l’apprenant d’une langue seconde ou étrangère ? » Pour ce, il convient d’apporter une attention particulière au contexte systémique d’émergence des langues et de leurs rapports écologique et social au monde (Mühlhäusler, 2003). Nous inspirant des pratiques théâtrales (Tabensky, 1997), nous proposons ici une vision intégrative de l’enseignement des langues vivantes basée sur la musicalité de la parole, les gestes, la posture et les actions langagières afin de porter l’accent sur la dimension communicative (Meunier, 2003) et émotionnelle (Frijda, 2003) inhérente aux langues vivantes. Language, Rhythm and Art: Towards a Physical and Musical Approach to Language Teaching Language teaching sometimes sets aside the fact that languages are living entities, submitted to precise rhythms. Since languages are alive, they are spoken before being written and rely on physical elements: vocal cords, sound production apparatus, muscles and also the entire body, in the case of paraverbal and nonverbal dimensions (Cosnier & Brossard, 1984). The question that now arises is that of the articulation of the verbal, paraverbal and non-verbal dimensions for the second or foreign language learner. In order to do so, it is necessary to take the systemic context of emergence of languages and their ecological and social relations to the world (Mühlhäusler, 2003) into consideration. Drawing on theatre practices (Tabensky, 1997), we thus wish to submit a comprehensive perspective of language teaching based on the musicality of speech, gestures, postures and speech acts in order to underline the communicative (Meunier, 2003) and emotional (Frijda, 2003) dimensions of languages.

Este estudo põe, pois, em relevo interfaces nas obras de dois poetas “populares”. De um lado, o poeta português António Aleixo2 e sua sátira “humanística”, com destaque para o recurso apropriado da expressividade verbal. De outro lado, o poeta brasileiro (baiano) Antonio Vieira e a índole musicante de sua poesia satírica, integrando o que denominou ‘Cordel Remoçado”3. A poesia de ambos os poetas, feita para provocar vibração nas palavras, aponta para a coreografia do gesto, no palco semovente oralidade/escritura.

Poéticas orais usualmente são associadas aos chamados etnotextos, isto é, discursos que a comunidade desenvolve sobre si mesma, em processos de legitimação vinculados à autoria coletiva. No entanto, a poesia de produção e circulação oralizada também se manifesta em produtos de natureza radicalmente diversa, em que a afirmação identitária é desfocada em prol da discussão sobre o desenraizamento – situações em que o homem vivencia experiências distintas das observadas em suas origens, abraçando o cosmopolitismo. Em uma aparente contradição, alguns dos bens culturais que melhor exploram o sentido de desenraizamento são produzidos por realizadores visceralmente conectados aos etnotextos, deixando entrever que a compreensão do ser parte de uma comunidade é indissociável dos sentimentos de não pertencimento, estrangeirismo e exílio. O artigo examina um desses textos, especificamente o poema Cantos dos emigrantes, de Alberto da Cunha Melo, musicado pela banda Cordel do Fogo Encantado. O objetivo é identificar e discutir como o desenraizamento é tratado nas esferas verbal e rítmica, constituindo o próprio cerne da composição em destaque.

<p>Estuda aspectos relativos à indexação, operação que visa extrair o conteúdo dos objetos informacionais para fins de sua recuperação, acesso e uso. Objetiva identificar os aspectos cognitivos inerentes à atividade de indexação de xilogravuras de capas de folhetos de cordel efetuada por profissionais da informação. Utiliza como metodologia a pesquisa bibliográfica para a fundamentação teórica do assunto estudado, seguida de um delineamento de caráter exploratório e descritivo com um estudo de caso contemplando um grupo experimental de sujeitos indexadores que trabalham em unidades de informação que possuem acervos de cordel para fins de aplicação de um questionário e da técnica de protocolo verbal individual cuja inspeção dos dados obtidos foi efetuada por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Constata que, através dos processos cognitivos, as participantes da pesquisa desenvolveram estratégias que viabilizam a atividade de indexação das xilogravuras, analisando e identificando os elementos presentes nas imagens e os seus respectivos referentes. Porém, como subsídio informacional foram consultados os títulos e os versos dos próprios folhetos cujas xilogravuras estavam sendo representadas. Conclui que a complexidade inerente à atividade de indexação de imagens como as xilogravuras não está apenas associada ao fato da necessidade e compreensão do profissional da informação acerca de um conceito contido em recursos não textuais, faz-se necessário que esse profissional identifique a maneira como os conceitos estão sendo apropriados pelos usuários, uma vez que essas imagens retratam o imaginário e a cultura popular.</p>

El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar acerca de las relaciones entre la lexicalización y la gramaticalización en el surgimiento de las perífrasis verbales del español. Concretamente, analizaremos tres construcciones verbales (venir + a + infinitivo, tener + de + infi nitivo e ir + y+ grupo verbal finito) con el objetivo de demostrar que, en sus orígenes, constituían esquemas fraseológicos, lo que nos sitúa en el terreno de la lexicalización. En una fase ulterior de su evolución, estas expresiones idiomáticas se convierten en patrones gramaticales productivos especializados en la expresión de valores modales y temporales, gracias a la generalización de nuevas formas verbales en la posición del segundo verbo. Es en este punto en el que tiene lugar la gramaticalización. En este trabajo adoptamos una aproximación al cambio lingüístico basado en el uso. Además, incorporamos al análisis los presupuestos teóricos de la teoría de la gramaticalización y de la gramática de construcciones. Los datos en los que basamos nuestro estudio proceden de la consulta de los dos corpus de la RAE (CREA Y CORDE).

O imperativo de 2a pessoa do singular manifesta-se no português brasileiropor formas verbais no indicativo (deixa) e no subjuntivo (deixe). Neste estudo, à luz dos princípios da sociolinguística histórica (ROMAINE, 1982 [2010]; HERNÁNDEZ-CAMPOY; CONDE SILVESTRE, 2012), a expressão variável do imperativo de 2a pessoa do singular é analisada a partir de cartas pessoais autógrafas, produzidas por brasileiros (mineiros), entre os séculos XIX e XX. Conduzidos pelo Programa GoldVarbX (SANKOFF, TAGLIAMONTE & SMITH, 2005) para a geração de índices percentuais e probabilísticos, identificamos não só a prevalência do imperativo com formas de subjuntivo (paradigma de você), mas também levantamos evidências do imperativo abrasileirado (PAREDES SILVA et alii, 2000; SCHERRE, 2007).Palavras-chave: imperativo de 2a pessoa do singular; imperativo abrasileirado, variação tu/você; sociolinguística histórica.The imperative of 2nd person singular is manifested in Brazilian Portugueseby the verbal forms in the indicative (deixa) and in the subjunctive (deixe). In this study, in light of the principles of historical sociolinguistics (ROMAINE, 1982 [2010]; HERNÁNDEZ-CAMPOY; CONDE SILVESTRE, 2012), the variable expression of the imperative of 2nd person singular is analyzed in autograph personal letters, produced by Brazilians (specifically writers from the state of Minas Gerais), between the 19th and 20th centuries. Conducted by the GoldVarbX Program (SANKOFF, TAGLIAMONTE & SMITH, 2005) in order to generate percentage and probabilistic indices, we have identified not only the prevalence of the imperative with subjunctive forms (paradigm of você), but we have also raised evidences of the brazilian imperative (PAREDES SILVA et alii, 2000; SCHERRE, 2007).Keywords: imperative of 2nd person singular, brazilian imperative, tu/você variation, historical sociolinguistics.

People with voice disorders and their problems are always at the centre of attention of several sciences, in particular medicine, pedagogy, psychology, and sociology. The use of quantitative procedures in this paper is mainly ready to lend a hand in sorting out some of the significant issues surrounding speech therapy intervention in both clinical and research contexts. After the removal of the throat, the patient, having the means of communication - the word, but losing one of the components of expressive speech - the voice, has pronounced difficulties in the process of communication. Some patients, realizing their inadequacy due to absence of voice, try to take various measures to overcome the problem, while others become discouraged, frustrated, lose optimism, the desire to overcome the problem and return to a full life. Patients, within the frame of this study, had certain prerequisites for vocal cords, such as verbal breathing and expressive mobility problems.

Este artigo tem por objetivo compreender a relação entre raciocínio e musicalidade em adultos. Sendo assim, para maior compreensão das habilidades cognitivas influenciadas pela atividade eufônica, uma pesquisa quantitativa foi realizada com 40 musicistas/instrumentistas, entre 18 e 64 anos (Média: 32,35 e DP:11,66), divididos em quatro grupos de acordo com a teoria organológica da execução dos instrumentos: três grupos (corda, sopro ou percussão) e um grupo de multi-instrumentistas. Em cada grupo foi aplicada a Bateria de Provas de Raciocínio (BPR-5), compreendendo as seguintes escalas: Raciocínio Verbal (RV), Raciocínio Numérico (RN), Raciocínio Abstrato (RA) e Raciocínio Espacial (RE). A aplicação das escalas permitiu entender se há relação entre a atividade exercida e/ou instrumento utilizado e o desempenho entre os diferentes tipos de raciocínio. Em relação às escalas, o grupo dos multi-instrumentistas apresentou desempenho melhor, em relação aos demais musicistas, em duas dessas (RA e RN); os demais resultados dos diferentes grupos expressaram médias favoráveis com base na padronização do BPR-5. Esses resultados preliminares, então, indicam que tipos diferenciados de raciocínio podem se desenvolver e relacionar com tipos específicos de musicistas.

La vigésima segunda edición del DRAE señala que últimamente dispone de dos acepciones de tipo adverbial, a saber, una de modo, que se corresponde con «por último» y otra temporal, que enlaza con «hace poco tiempo, recientemente». Sin embargo, no es hasta la edición de 1985 cuando se introduce el valor temporal, acotado en un primer momento con la siguiente formulación: «hace poco, en el tiempo que acaba de transcurrir». Este valor, claramente central o prototípico en el español actual peninsular, contrasta, no obstante, con los valores que inicialmente asumía esta partícula. Así, últimamente equivalía a «finalmente» y «por último término», y, por lo tanto, era utilizada para insertar o bien el segmento de cierre de una cadena eventiva múltiple dispuesta en torno a criterios cronológicos, o bien como ordenador textual secuencial de elementos sin marcaje temporal .El objetivo de esta investigación se centra, pues, en analizar los cambios sufridos por la partícula hasta la consolidación de su valor temporal actual, a saber, «recientemente, de un tiempo a esta parte». Para ello se ha configurado y analizado un corpus ad hoc, formado con muestras extraídas del CORDE y del CREA de la RAE, en el cual se han cotejado (i) la relevancia entre los usos diacrónicos de últimamente y el tiempo verbal del enunciado en el que aparece, (ii) los usos como marcador discursivo de ordenación secuencial y (iii) el desplazamiento semántico de estos valores hasta alcanzar el de «recientemente, de un tiempo a esta parte». El análisis establecido pone de manifiesto el momento en el cual la partícula alcanza el valor semántico innovador y el proceso de sustitución o reducción semántica de los valores iniciales.

Este artigo insere-se nos recentes estudos sobre a história do Português Brasileiro na perspectiva da Sociolinguística Histórica e tem por objetivo analisar as estratégias acusativas, a partir da gramaticalização do você no quadro pronominal de segunda pessoa, em cartas pessoais amorosas, trocadas por sertanejos na década de 50 do século XX. As questões iniciais que envolvem a investigação são as seguintes: i) como se deu a implementação do você no paradigma de segunda pessoa na função acusativa e a resistência do clítico te como estratégia acusativa frente a formas do paradigma de terceira pessoa? ii) Quais contextos morfossintáticos favorecem a ocorrência das formas alternantes na função acusativa na posição pós-verbal? As pesquisas realizadas anteriormente por Lopes et al. (2018), Gomes; Lopes (2014) e Ataíde e Lima (2018) complementam o suporte teórico-metodológico na perspectiva da Sociolinguística Histórica proposto por Conde Silvestre (2007) e do modelo de Tradição Discursiva desenvolvida por Kabatek (2006, 2012); Andrade; Gomes (2018) e Ataíde (2020). Os resultados da análise apontam para a confirmação da hipótese de Lopes et al. (2018) quanto à resistência do clítico te na função acusativa. No que se refere à posição do clítico, constatamos que a próclise é a posição preferida para a colocação do acusativo pelos missivistas e os contextos favorecedores da ênclise foram o início de sentença e quando acusativo foi o pronome você.

ABSTRACT: Gabriel Bocángel’s silva «El retrato» (c. 1638) is a textual Trojan horse in the war for poetic patronage in the early modern Spanish court. Written on the wedding of the poet’s cousin to Juan de Cetina, secretary to the Admiral of Castile, the poem is a verbal portrait of the bride that undermines not only the tradition of the descriptio puellae, but also the Count-Duke of Olivares’s power. As a panegyric of the latter’s enemy, the text employs the botanical images of the laurel and the ivy, exploiting the full sense of their symbolic meaning. As an appeal for the patronage of poetry and letters at court and an exercise in «self-fashioning» (Greenblatt), the text makes the lovers’ and the poet’s pursuits parallel to the «siege» of Daphne; the poet, as a new Apollo, sings and weaves a complex poetic fabric in which different tensions are ultimately resolved in the image of the Admiral’s laurelcrowned brow, to which both the couple’s and the poet’s ambitions aspire. RESUMEN: La silva «El retrato» (c. 1638) de Gabriel Bocángel es un caballo de Troya en la guerra por el patronazgo poético en el contexto de la corte española del siglo XVII. Escrita con motivo de la boda de la prima del poeta con Juan de Cetina, secretario del Almirante de Castilla, el poema es un retrato verbal de la novia que socava no sólo la tradición de la descriptio puellae, sino el poder del Conde-Duque de Olivares, enemigo acérrimo del Almirante. Como panegírico de este último, el texto emplea las imágenes botánicas del laurel y la hiedra explotando el pleno sentido de su significado emblemático y simbólico. Como petición de patronazgo de la poesía y las letras en la corte y como ejercicio de «self-fashioning» (Greenblatt), el texto pone en paralelo los objetivos de los amantes y del poeta con el acoso a Dafne; como nuevo Apolo, el poeta canta tejiendo un complejo tapiz en el que distintas tensiones se resuelven finalmente en la imagen de la frente del Almirante, coronada de laureles, a la que aspiran por igual las ambiciones de los amantes y del propio poeta.

In the past century major changes in the study of language learning, and its attendant effects on language instruction, derived from the espousal of behavioral psychology by structural linguistics of the Bloomfieldian persuasion. Did not the founder of this strand of structuralism, who collaborated in the Army language manual for the teaching of Russian under the revealing pseudonym of I. M. Lisnin, declare: “Language learning is overlearning, nothing else is of any use”? Noam Chomsky's (1959) brilliant demonstration of the reductionism of the most extreme form of behaviorism—Skinner's operant conditioning (Review of B. F. Skinner's Verbal Behavior, Language, 35, 26–58)—triggered the demise of the influence of behavioristic views of language acquisition. This demise was accompanied by that of the structural approach to second language teaching associated with such applied linguists as Robert Lado, although it must be acknowledged that the combination of these two theoretical strands did lead to significant changes in foreign language classrooms—for example, the abandonment of grammar translation and a shift of focus from written texts to speech. However, what applied linguists of that generation failed to do was to observe how actual second language learners in both naturalistic and instructed contexts process and reorganize linguistic input, how they intake it, and how they turn it into output in communicative interactions. It was not until the impact of Chomskian-inspired studies of first language acquisition and Pit Corder's (1967) seminal “The significance of learners' errors” (International Review of Applied Linguistics, 5, 161–170) that the second language learner came into focus and that the field of second language acquisition research began to flourish. In this connection, it is noteworthy that bringing to a wider international audience the proceedings of the Neuchâtel colloquia led by Corder served as a catalyst for the launching of SSLA.

Objective: To determine the association between a measurement from sella turcica to posterior nasal spine (PNS) and skeletal malocclusion with subjects in normal vertical relationship. Methods: It was analytical, measurement-based, observational design in which samples from 122 patients were collected from department of orthodontics at the dental OPD of Karachi Medical and Dental College and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi. Non-probability consecutive sampling technique was used. Sample selec- tion was based on inclusion criteria that included, no previous history of orthodontic treatment, age limit start- ing from 12 years of age till 30 years. The exclusion criteria for study included, any syndromic or cleft lip and palate subjects, patients with history of trauma and patients with facial asymmetry. All the patients were exam- ined by the author. After thorough history and clinical examination for evaluating the inclusion and exclusion cri- teria patients were recruited for the study. Verbal informed consent was taken from the patients then the lateral cephalogram was recorded, taken in centric relation, was surveyed and classified by observation into the three categories of malocclusion on the basis of skeletal classification of malocclusion. All measurements were re- corded under ample light and comfortable position. All the findings were recorded by the primary author. Result: One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied to see the association of PNS to sella and malocclusion. Mean value is 44.96, 45.21 and 49.00 for the class I, II and III of skeletal malocclusion patients respectively. P-value is < 0.05 which that there is association between PNS to sella and vertical class malocclusion. Conclusion: It has been established that there is a positive association between PNS to sellaturcica linear measurement and skeletal malocclusions. It is noted as that mean value of linear measurement from sella to posterior nasal spine (PNS) is 44.96mm, 45.21mm and 49.00mm for the class I, II and III of skeletal malocclusion cases respectively. This can help in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Objective: One of the parameters showing the correct phonetic and phonological development is the correct and clear articulation of vowels is achieved by changing the shape of vocal cords through altering the height and position of the tongue and the movement of the lips and jaw. The tongue’s height and position are the basis of the production and difference of vowels. In other words, the raw sound produced by vocal cords, which has a base frequency, changes and intensifies according to the displacement of organs and vocal tract cavities which makes harmonies from the base sound called formats. These intensified harmonies depend on the shape, size, and material of the cavities, and can affect a person’s speech clarity and, consequently, the listeners’ perception. Due to such effects and the significant role of vowels space and formants on communicative aspects in each language, they are considered as one of the most important acoustic characteristics of any spoken language. Therefore, determining a scale as a tool to assess vowel errors and speech disorders is necessary. This study aimed to investigate vowel space and formant structure of Mazani language in adults. Materials & Methods: This descriptive-analytical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted on 60 adults (30 males and 30 females) with Mazani language aged 18-40 years who were selected randomly and based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria (no history of respiratory diseases, verbal and auditory disorders and having at least 5 years of experience in living in Babol county. After producing the vowels by participants, the first, second, and third formants (F1, F2, and F3) of all 6 vowels were obtained in PRAAT v.6.0 program, and analyzed finally using independent t-test in SPSS v. 18 software. Results: In men, the highest mean value for the base frequency was related to the vowels /i/ and /u/ (136 Hz), and for F1, F2, and F3, it was related to the vowels /æ/ (646 Hz), /i/ (2182 Hz), and /i/ (2888 Hz), respectively. On the other hand, their lowest mean values were related to the vowels /a/ (124 Hz), /i/ (283 Hz), /a/ (1150 Hz), and /e/ (2629 Hz), respectively. In women, the highest mean values of base frequency, F1, F2 and F3 were related to the vowels /u/ (222 Hz), /æ/ (828 Hz), /i/ (2346 Hz), and /i/ (3151 Hz), while the lowest mean values were related to the vowels /æ/ and /e/ (202 Hz), /i/ (364 Hz), /a/ (1167 Hz), and /o/ (2775 Hz), respectively. Conclusion: There was difference in formants and vowel space between men and women with Mazani language. The /a/ was the lowest pitch vowel and /i/ and /u/ were the highest pitch the vowels in men, while /æ/ and /e/ were the lowest pitch vowels and /u/ was the highest pitch vowel in women. Furthermore, the most open, closed, backward and forward vowels were /æ/, /i/, /i/ and /a/, respectively. The /e/ in men and /o/ in women were the most rounded vowels, while the /i/ in both genders was the most unrounded vowel. The results are somewhat different from the results of studies conducted on the production of vowels in standard Persian language. Since the speech clarity and fluency can be affected by the incorrect production of vowels, the results of this study can be used to evaluate and diagnose speech disorders in Mazani language for clinical and research purposes.

<p>Le présent article tend à circonscrire l’ « agir » (F. Cicurel : 2011)d’une enseignante qui souffre d’une voix pathologique. Suite à un traitement médical, les organes produisant la voix (les cordes, le pharynx, les cavités buccales et nasales) 1ont été affectés ainsi que l’oreille (organe principal de l’ouïe). F. Cicurel (2011 : 86) précise qu’en s’adressant à un apprenant, la parole de l’enseignant est une « parole en action »qui contribue à la transmission des savoirs et des « savoir-dire ».C’est aussi une parole multimodale dans la mesure où le message verbal peut être communiqué grâce à la « voix-outil » (M. Moustapha-Sabeur &amp; J. Aguilar Rio (2014)2 et au « geste pédagogique » (M. Tellier 2008 : 41). Selon M. Moustapha-Sabeur (2014b)3, la voix et le geste « s’avèrent deux outils que l’enseignant utilise afin de bien mener son cours et deux indices sur lesquels les apprenants s’appuient pour maintenir ou modifier leurs réponses ».Que fait l’enseignant d’une langue étrangère si sa voix souffre non pas de troubles provisoires liés à sa profession d’enseignant mais de troubles perpétuels affectant la prononciation? D. Bouvet et M.-A. Morel (2002) ont analysé des dialogues en prenant en compte conjointement les marques posturo-mimo-gestuelles et intonatives. Notre travail concerne un contexte différent (la classe de FLE) et un cas particulier où il manque à la parole sa dimension intonative. Si l’on suppose que la voix pathologique rend difficile l’apprentissage de la langue étrangère comment l’enseignant agit-il, quelle est la « dimension corporelle se [sa] parole » (D. Bouvet 2001) et quels seront les motifs premiers de ses actions?</p><p>Il ne s’agit pas uniquement d’une question de transmission de savoirs, l’image de l’enseignant, son identité en tant qu’enseignant est dans une certaine mesure déterminée par sa voix. L’objectif de l’article n’est pas d’observer les impacts de la voix pathologique sur l’apprentissage de la langue mais de souligner les aspects particuliers sur lesquels l’enseignant focalise afin de mener son cours. A partir d’une transcription de séquences d’un cours de français langue étrangère filmé et d’un entretien d’auto-confrontation (EAC), le présent article tend à souligner les motifs d’action et les actions d’une enseignante souffrant de problèmes de voix et d’ouïe.</p>

Abstract Humans carrying the CORD7 (cone-rod dystrophy 7) mutation possess increased verbal IQ and working memory. This autosomal dominant syndrome is caused by the single-amino acid R844H exchange (human numbering) located in the 310 helix of the C2A domain of RIMS1/RIM1 (Rab3-interacting molecule 1). RIM is an evolutionarily conserved multi-domain protein and essential component of presynaptic active zones, which is centrally involved in fast, Ca2+-triggered neurotransmitter release. How the CORD7 mutation affects synaptic function has remained unclear thus far. Here, we established Drosophila melanogaster as a disease model for clarifying the effects of the CORD7 mutation on RIM function and synaptic vesicle release. To this end, using protein expression and X-ray crystallography, we solved the molecular structure of the Drosophila C2A domain at 1.92 Å resolution and by comparison to its mammalian homolog ascertained that the location of the CORD7 mutation is structurally conserved in fly RIM. Further, CRISPR/Cas9-assisted genomic engineering was employed for the generation of rim alleles encoding the R915H CORD7 exchange or R915E,R916E substitutions (fly numbering) to effect local charge reversal at the 310 helix. Through electrophysiological characterization by two-electrode voltage clamp and focal recordings we determined that the CORD7 mutation exerts a semi-dominant rather than a dominant effect on synaptic transmission resulting in faster, more efficient synaptic release and increased size of the readily releasable pool but decreased sensitivity for the fast calcium chelator BAPTA. In addition, the rim CORD7 allele increased the number of presynaptic active zones but left their nanoscopic organization unperturbed as revealed by super-resolution microscopy of the presynaptic scaffold protein Bruchpilot/ELKS/CAST. We conclude that the CORD7 mutation leads to tighter release coupling, an increased readily releasable pool size and more release sites thereby promoting more efficient synaptic transmitter release. These results strongly suggest that similar mechanisms may underlie the CORD7 disease phenotype in patients and that enhanced synaptic transmission may contribute to their increased cognitive abilities.

This is an instrumental exploration of theoretical issues related to the vocal performance of Mediaeval Hebrew pegs-and-cords meter, of which we have neither authentic recordings, nor verbal descriptions of actual performances of the time. Consequently, I am exploring only possibilities implied by poetic structures as embodied in later performances, not in actual authentic performances. But, in my earlier writings, I have extensively explored similar issues in English, Hungarian and modern Hebrew poetry, as recorded by experienced readers. The pegs-and-cords meter is a unique quantitative system based on systematic (not necessarily regular) alternation of schwa mobile and full vowels. The time ratio between the two is supposed to be 1:2, 1:3 or 1:4. Some scholars believe that in Jewish Yemenite liturgy the authentic performance has been preserved. This article is focused on one brief liturgical masterpiece by Shlomo Ibn Gabirol, submitting to computer analysis a modern recital of it, and a sung performance of a Yemenite master. Regarding the correspondence of language and versification, eleventh-century Hebrew poets explicitly distinguished between two possibilities: word endings may or may not coincide with the ending of a metric foot. I have investigated on the computer whether it is possible to convey continuation and discontinuation at the same time by a single voice, where word endings and metricfoot endings do not coincide. Neither performer observed the conflicting endings consistently, but both provided evidence that it is possible to identify the problems and solve them by vocal manipulation. In the Yemenite masters’ performances, computer measurements could not establish that the schwas are consistently shorter than the vowels. Furthermore, poetic rhythm requires the simultaneous perception of two versification levels at least: a wider unit (the verse line or a hemistich), and the metric feet that divide it. Psychologically, simultaneous presence implies being contained within the same span of short-term memory. In the Yemenite masters’ performances, the wider units exceed by far the span of short-term memory, owing to repetition of phrases and drawn-out embellishments, so that the poems’ rhythms could not be preserved. In the 16th–17th century there were Jewish musicians in Western Europe who composed liturgic music in the baroque tradition, some of it to pegs-and-cord texts. In a brief pilot I point out the differences in aesthetic conception between this baroque music and the Yemenite master. Finally, Mediaeval poets treated a schwa+vowel as a unit called “peg”. Here the question of psychological reality arises. The issue at stake is whether two immediately-observable constituents can be experienced at a more abstract level as one unit. The precedent of what generative metrists call “disyllabic occupancy of metrical position” in English poetry suggests a positive answer. “Power” at the end of an iambic line may be perceived as occupying one or two metrical positions. Computer analysis shows systematic acoustic diff erences between instances in which two syllables occupy one or two positions. We cannot know, however, what was actually the case with the peg, since we do not know how it was performed; in this respect, we have demonstrated only a possibility.

Background: Surveillance system of infectious diseases and event is recognized as the cornerstone of public health decision-making and practice additionally, the international health regulation requested counties to implement other type of surveillance to support the routine surveillance system and to increase the detection rate and sensitivity in reporting the diseases, event, or any public health emergency with international concern (PHEIC). The aim of this study to assess the implementation level of event-based surveillance systems to ensuring that the system implemented efficiently and effectively. Methods: descriptive cross sectional institutional based study conducted for all 18 surveillance officer at states to assess the implementation level of event-based surveillance system as core capacity under the international health regulation 2005 (IHR), Data was collected using a per-prepared and pretested questionnaire followed WHO/EMRO tools for surveillance staff at state level felt through field visit and phone calls, data collection also cover the community based surveillance and surveillance system at point of entry as part of event based surveillance, interview done for surveillance focal person at federal level. Data were analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) (version 20). Written and verbal consents were obtained from all participants as appropriate. Results: Event based surveillance started in 2016 endorsement and approval of guidelines SOPs and training materials has been develop in 2017 so the study showed significant positive changes in implementation of this system for that the results showed the system implemented in all 18 states, availability of guidelines and SOPs at state level 72.2%, completeness, and timeliness of system data 94.4%, designated focal person in the surveillance structure at state level 94.4%. community Based Surveillance (CBS) implementation Results at states level -Sudan from 2017 – 2020 the result showed the system has been implemented in 17 states (94.4%), the percentage of assigned focal person for the system was 94.1 – trained volunteer at community level 94.4% and availability of system guidelines was 94.1%, the availability of system SOPs 88.2%. The study results also showed the percentage of 94.4 for definition of CBS syndromes, immediate response for event reported was 94.4%, Daily and weekly reports completed send by community volunteers was 94.4% and availability of reporting forms was 94.1% also percentage of 70.6% for system data base and shared the report with the partners. Point of entry Surveillance (PoE) implementation at the states level Results showed that the surveillance at points of entry has been fully implemented in 6 state 46.1% which it had point of entry and it has been designated by IHR, the system had focal person, the training done for all staff with availability of system guidelines and SOPs all this done by 100% 83.3% of point of entry reported Daily and weekly reports, the percentage of report completeness and timeliness was 66.7% with 83.3% for the zero report when no event of cases reported, availability of system data base and documentation for the events and cases reported through the system was 83.3%. Conclusion: The study showed significant positive changes in implementation of event-based surveillance system under the international health regulation, based on the finding the study recommended that, rapid and early response for the reported cases and rumors or any other event from the locality and state level, Regular refresh, and basic training for surveillance staff internally and external training and strengthen the data management mechanism.

Acesso Livre às Publicações Científicas Miguel Conde escreve para “O Globo” em 24 de fevereiro um interessante artigo relatando um movimento mundial visando uma “inovação” na publicação de artigos científicos. A inovação é acesso livre ao conteúdo dos artigos.Se bem que totalmente de acordo com esta “inovação”, me pergunto se é inovação o que faz a RESI desde 2002? Na RESI estamos conseguindo o acesso livre, com o trabalho voluntário de alguns pesquisadores atuando na edição e revisão dos artigos submetidos, e por estar a revista sediada em uma universidade que tem naturalmente por finalidade a educação. Me pergunto ainda onde o autor tirou a frase: “Os historiadores costumam apontar 1965 como o ano de nascimento do sistema moderno de publicação científica”, e, mais adiante: “Desde então, os periódicos tornaram-se o meio por excelência de partilha do conhecimento na comunidade científica.” Discordo totalmente desta data, pois, quando cheguei na Universidade Livre de Bruxelas, em 1967, para iniciar meu doutoramento, encontrei uma biblioteca rica em periódicos científicos com muitos anos de coleções disponíveis. Agora mesmo tenho na minha mesa o artigo de Torres y Quevedo, publicado em 15/11/1915, na “Revue Générale des Sciences Pures et Appliquées”, paginas 601 a 611. Além disto, tenho ainda o número de outubro de 1951, do “Proceedings of the IRE”, o qual estava já no seu 39º ano de existência, tendo portanto iniciada sua aparição em 1912! E foi um numero notável, dedicado à TV a cores, recém lançada nos Estados Unidos.Ousaria dizer que, nas transformações por que passou nossa sociedade, depois do término da 2ª Grande Guerra em 1945, e no início da corrida armamentista, a sede por ganhar dinheiro cresceu como uma doença epidêmica, atacando silenciosamente grande parte da população mundial. Em tudo se quer ganhar dinheiro, lutar por um ideal em que o dinheiro não esteja envolvido é sinônimo de estar enlouquecendo. Assim é que muitas revistas científicas, que se mantinham com anúncios (muito úteis, por sinal), subiram de preço, e também muitas passaram a cobrar “contribuição voluntária pela publicação”.Chega-se ao caso alarmante do pesquisador, pago pelo dinheiro do povo (diretamente no caso de particulares e indiretamente, através dos impostos, no caso de serviço público), para poder ter a qualidade de seu trabalho reconhecida, precisar publicar em veículos cada vez mais difíceis, no primeiro mundo em inglês, em revistas caríssimas, as quais mesmo muitas universidades americanas ou européias não dispõem de verbas para assinar! A conseqüência é tornar seu trabalho “segredo científico”, dele tendo acesso apenas (ou quase) os membros de centros de pesquisa ricos de primeiro mundo… E mais uma vez se vê o pesquisador de terceiro mundo trabalhando para incrementar a ciência do primeiro mundo…A RESI se apresenta como um esforço realista, feito pelo Departamento de Informática e Estatística da UFSC, para fornecer espaço para publicação de artigos, tutoriais e resultados de pesquisas a custo zero. Acreditando que o conhecimento não deve ser limitado a uma região, aceita submissão de trabalhos de quaisquer partes do Globo, em Português, Espanhol ou Inglês. The abstract book of the last European Conference on Eye Movements (Martinez-Conde, Martinez-Otero, Compte, & Groner, 2019) lists abstracts of 373 presentations, but less than five percent investigate vergence eye movements, i.e. the coordination of the right and left eye. Why then a special issue on this neglected issue? Human vision under natural conditions involves both eyes in coordination controlled by interacting processes subsumed under the concept of vergence.. Further, vergence is important for people in their daily lives since disorders of vergence can have serious consequences: ophthalmologists deal with squinting patients on the basis of heterophoria and heterotropia testing, eye strain or visual complaints can be related to impaired vergence dynamic or less accurate static vergence, remediation by optometrist includes vergence training or prism eye glasses, etc. What are the reasons why processes of vergence are underestimated in our scientific community? The main reason seems to be the fact that the two eyes must be analysed separately with high precision. The differences between the measured two eye positions are typically relatively small and often at the limit of the recording systems. The question arises: Are the difference in the measurements due to noise, to error, or due to physiological processes? A further difficulty arises from the individual differences between observers. Thus, a vergence researcher has a rather difficult job in critically evaluating the eye tracker technology and taking into account different scientific areas like ophthalmology, optometry, psychology, and using adequate statistical analyses. This kind of research requires a multidisciplinary perspective. In this special issue, three studies concentrated on the methodology of measuring vergence. An established clinical method is the prism cover test, which measures the heterophoria, i.e. the misalignment of the visual axes under monocular viewing conditions compared to binocular fixation. Paulus, Straube & Eggert (2019) developed an automated alternating cover test based on a combination of video-oculography and shutter glasses which minimizes stimulus noise and has a defined measurement noise. The total variance of the measurement is composed of components related to the observer, to the size of the heterophoria and to the availability of sensory vergence cues. Paulus et al. (2019) examined these factors and found that a major component of the within-subject variance of the manual prism cover test is due to the variability in the manifest heterophoria of the tested persons. Wang, Holmqvist, & Alexa (2019) define a point of interest in binocular viewing, which is the intersection point of the two lines of sight in three-dimensional space, or – more precisely - the point closest to the two lines of sight. By means of theoretical simulations compared to empirical recordings they demonstrated a bias of the vergence distance depending on the noise of the tracked eye position. The authors propose mathematical models of calibration as part of the analysis of the experimental data. Yaramothu, Jaswal & Alvarez (2019) measured vergence velocity and latency for step responses and found that eccentric circles with 6° eccentricity resulted in a faster response latency than a cross at central fixation. Their results have implications for the stimulus design in a variety of applications ranging from virtual reality to interventions in vision therapy. Vergence operates well within a limited physiological range; but when the limit of fusion is reached, single vision is lost and double vision occurs. McGinnis, I., Tierney, R., Mansell, J., & Phillips, J. (2019) measured the clinically established convergence fusion break point (near point of convergence, NPC) by shifting a target towards the eyes in three different velocities and varied the verbal instruction (“double” versus “blurry”). The statistical analysis resulted in significant differences in NPC for the two variables target speed and verbal instruction. A consequence of this study will be that the experimental conditions for examinations and research on NPC must be standardized with respect to the experimental variables investigated in this study. Dostalek, Hejda, Fliegel, Duchackova, Dusek, Hozman, Lukes & Autrata, R. (2019) investigated the fusion break point at a fixed test distance, but reduced the quality of the image in one eye by different modes (luminance contrast, higher-spatial frequency content, or luminance contrast plus higher-spatial frequency content). These modes had a certain influence, but the largest effect was the one of vergence demand, i.e. the absolute disparity of the two images. The authors argue that the image´s details (i.e. higher-spatial frequency content) protect binocular fusion from disruption under the lowest vergence demand. The dynamics of vergence responses to step stimuli includes two components, a high velocity fusion initiating component followed by a slower component that may mediate sustained fusion. The slow fusion-sustaining component was analysed by Semmlow and Alvarez (2019). This component was modelled by the authors as a feedback control system consisting of a time delay and an integral/derivative controller. The fast fusion-initiating component was explored by Scheiman, Yaramothu, & Alvarez (2019) by means of analysing the ratio of the velocity divided by the response amplitude. For convergent step stimuli, this ratio was affected by a vergence/accommodation training therapy. The study of Poffa and Joos (2019) used a traditional clinical method referred to as vergence facility: the examiner induces vergence responses by applying prisms and counts the number vergence movements per minute. This clinical measure was found to be related to fixations disparity, i.e. the static vergence error measured with an eye tracker. Comparing clinical test results with eye tracker recordings were included in the two studies which took also into account individual differences. Schroth, Joos, Alshuth & Jaschinski (2019) used a clinical nonius method for measuring the amount of the prism eye glass which is required to correct a fixation disparity (vergence error); this prism power was able to predict the prism-induced change in fixation disparity recorded with an eye tracker. Jainta and Joss (2019) tested the largest sample of subjects in this issue (n= 94) which allowed demonstrating the influence of the individual heterophoria on the binocular advantage, i.e. the extent to which during reading the fixation of a word is shorter in binocular than in monocular reading. The eye tracker measure of the heterophoria achieved superior results compared with subjective clinical measurements. The academic background of the present authors illustrates that vergence research is covered by different scientific disciplines including computer engineering, physics, optometry, ophthalmology and psychology. This has the advantage that vergence research benefits from the different approaches of these disciplines, given that a common language and mutual understanding is achieved. A common basis for such a multidisciplinary research could be the seminal book of Ian Howard (2012). This first special issue on vergence eye movements should give an overview of ongoing research in a relatively small scientific community and might motivate more relevant and multidisciplinary research, to be published in regular issues of the Journal of Eye Movement Research. O presente artigo discute textos que retratam a mulher dentro dos valores do mundo patriarcal brasileiro, juntamente, com textos em que as personagens ousam arrostar esse mesmo ideário. Em dois retratos feitos em forma de canções, as duas mulheres apresentadas não têm sequer nomes próprios e suas vidas existem em função do homem. Em outros dois, o conto A fuga, de Clarice Lispector, escrito em 1940 e publicado em 1979 e o cordel A mulher que vendeu o marido por 1,99, de Janduhi Dantas, duas mulheres protagonistas demandam em busca de autodeterminação. Ambas as personagens são casadas e são infelizes no casamento; ambas suportam condições adversas que as inquietam e oprimem e das quais desejam sair. Será utilizado o conceito do dominante de (JAKOBSON, 1983), como ferramenta teórica, assim como ferramentas dos estudos de gêneros (BUTLER, 2003; LOURO, 1997) e da literatura comparada (CARVALHAL, 1986).REFERÊNCIAS:ASSIS, Machado.
