In a very dense regulatory landscape, we'll need to determine whether the current framework for data protection (GDPR) and AI (AIA) is adapted to the arrival of autonomous vehicles. On this basis, we'll need to consider how to address these loopholes, identify their nature and opt for an appropriate mode of regulation to deal with these issues: Is the GDPR substantially inadequate and should it be revised? How does it fit with new texts relating to AI and the digital sector? What type of sector-specific regulation would be appropriate to address these points specific to the autonomous vehicle? In-depth consideration of these questions could lead to the consideration of automotive data regulation, both in substance and in form, to best welcome the autonomous vehicle on the European market.More generally, the issues addressed throughout this study will help determine whether it would be appropriate to create a specific law for the autonomous car, or whether it would be sufficient to adapt the law applicable to connected objects and current data protection law
