Abstract:
Le tryptique ville - mondialisation - migration est mis en perspective dans la thèse à partir d'un poste d'observation situé au Sud : la ville de Bangalore, la cinquième ville de l'Inde par la population, largement présentée comme la « Silicon Valley indienne ». L'objet d'analyse est le phénomène de migration de retour de migrants indiens très qualifiés, salariés du secteur des hautes et des nouvelles technologies, revenant majoritairement des Etats-Unis à Bangalore. La recherche articule géographie des migrations et géographie urbaine dans une démarche compréhensive qui permet d'appréhender les pratiques de l'espace et les significations qui leur sont attachées, ainsi que les échelles collective et individuelle du fait migratoire. Elle interroge ainsi une notion et une catégorie importantes de la géographie des migrations : la migration de retour et les migrants très qualifiés. La thèse montre que le retour s'insère dans les évolutions de la dynamique technopolitaine qui caractérise Bangalore. Elle souligne la pertinence de la notion de migration de retour comme catégorie analytique du projet migratoire des acteurs, comme processus et comme moment de trajectoires migratoires de plus en plus transnationales. Par ailleurs le rôle joué par les migrants dans la fabrique métropolitaine et technopolitaine est mis en évidence par l'étude de leurs pratiques résidentielles, en particulier pour le développement d'un urbanisme d'enclave. Cultivant l'entre-deux, les migrants de retour renforcent le rôle de Bangalore en tant que pôle du champ migratoire indien
The articulation between globalization, migration and urbanization is addressed from a vantage point located in a developing country : the city of Bangalore, fifth city by population of India, which is known also as the ''Silicon Valley of India''. The selected way to assess it has been to focus on the reverse migration flow of high-skilled Indian migrants, coming back from the USA mainly, specifically to Bangalore. This research stands at the intersection of migration studies and urban studies. It proposes a comprehensive approach in order to comprehend the spatial practices as well as their meanings, at both the individual scale and the collective scale. It addresses two important notions in migration studies : return migration and high(ly) skilled migration. This reverse brain drain contributes to the technopolitan dynamic which a salient feature of Bangalore. This study reinforces the relevance of the concept of return migration by analyzing the return migration as a project, as an open-ended-process and a stage in the realm of increasingly transnational life patterns. The thesis addresses also the way these ''returnees'' reinsert themselves in the urban fabric, contributing to some typical trends of the metropolis and technopolis-in-the making such as the development of enclave urbanism, by studying their residential practices. The ''returnees'' remain in an in-between situation that strengthhen Bangalore as a pole in the migration field of Indians

Abstract:
This final thesis deals with adaptive control of small brewery. Contains a short description of brewing technology and adaptive control. Includes design of small brawery and control system based on STM32F407 Cortex-M4 microcontroller. For online identification is used Recursive Least Squares Method. The controller function perform a modified PSD controller with filtered derivative component, reducing the first overshot and dynamic antiwindup. The proposed adaptive controller is implemented into microcontroller. Created device i used for semi-automatic beer production.

Abstract:
Nyckelbegrepp i VARVET är Siktlinjer och Rörelse. Varvets storlek och placering i staden gör byggnaden synlig från olika platser runt Beckholmen. Byggnaden upplevs från olika vinklar och på olika avstånd. Denna visuella kommunikation har använts för att forma Varvets utseende genom att de olika verkstäderna vrider sig i olika riktningar och varierade siktlinjer uppstår. Den rörelse som finns i varvsverksamheten görs synlig genom ett band av glasbetong i de fasader som vinklas utåt. I höjd med dessa öppningar rör sig traversbalkar fram och tillbaka och i varje fönsterband finns en platt, slipad polykarbonatlins som skapar ett vidvinkelperspektiv in i byggnaden. På olika avstånd ges olika diffusa förnimmelser av verksamheten som pågår i Varvet. Varvsbyggnadens fragmenterade plan skapar spännande interiöra och exteriöra rum och sekvenser att röra sig genom. Mellan skrovhallen och de mindre verkstäderna uppstår två ljuskorridorer i glasade lågdelar. Dessa korridorer möjliggör ett indirekt dagsljus till verkstäderna men skapar också en genväg mellan verkstäder där inte skrovhallen behöver passeras.
The Yard has two main themes, Lines of sight and Movement. The placement and size of The Yard make the building visible from many places around Beckholmen. It is viewable from different angels and distances. This visual communication has formed The Yard by twisting different workshops in different angels to create lines of sight from places around Beckholmen. The existing movement of the shipyard activity is made visible through lines of glass concrete in each facade directed outwards. At the height of these openings, traverse girders are moving along the facade. In each line of glass concrete, a fresnel lens gives a wide angle perspective view into the workshop. Diffuse perceptions of the ongoing activity are being offered at different distances. The fragmented plan is generating exciting interior and exterior spaces and sequences of movement. Between the hull hall and the smaller workshops two light corridors give indirect daylight into the workshops. The corridors also work as shortcuts between the workshops, thus passing through the hull hall is avoided.

O presente trabalho procura fazer uma análise das práticas escolares vigentes no curso secundário do Ginásio Diocesano, localizado em Lages (SC) entre os anos de 1931 e 1942. Trata-se de uma instituição católica dirigida pela Ordem do Frades Menor e voltada para meninos oriundos das elites regionais da serra catarinense. Intenta-se problematizar através de uma análise micro-escolar variáveis como a circulação e avaliação dos saberes escolares e sua relação com o público escolar, bem como a socialização desses. Através das fontes documentais busca-se perceber práticas que procuravam naturalizar dons, méritos, disposições e uma posição social levando em consideração o momento histórico permeado por um nacionalismo sob o filtro de uma instituição religiosa.

Vargen har varit ett mytomspunnet och hatat djur genom hela vår historia, och den väcker fortfarande starka känslor. Licensjakt på varg återinfördes i början av 2010, och den väckte lika höga röster från jaktmotståndare så som jägare som ville skjuta fler vargar än de tilldelats. Uppståndelsen kring vargen avspeglades även i våra medier, och rapporteringen har varit mycket intensiv under jaktperioderna. Hur kommer det säg då att vargen har fått detta mediala utrymme? Vi har i denna uppsats ägnat oss åt etermedierna, främst P4 Dalarnas nyhetsrapportering men även Ekots sändningar, med fokus på dess rapportering om vargen. Vi har gjort en lyssning per dag under en tremånadersperiod (före, under och efter jaktveckorna), december 2009 till februari 2010 (Ekot och Dalanytt) respektive december 2010 till februari 2011 (enbart Dalanytt), totalt 269 nyhetsinslag. För att kunna bredda och utveckla teorier om varför vargen får så pass stort utrymme har vi även gjort intervjuer på P4-redaktionen i Falun. I P4 Dalarna, som är ett av Sveriges varglän, är det inte bara jakten som skapar rubriker utan även tjuvjakt på varg, angrepp på tamdjur och skyddsjakt. Medan vi kan se att vargen blev en riksangelägenhet i Ekot enbart under den aktuella jaktveckan. Fördomar som att fler män än kvinnor kommer till tals i vargfrågan har bekräftats, och vår inbillning om att vargen väcker ilska har visat sig vara en underdrift snarare än en överdrift, då hot och hätska debatter synts såväl i våra intervjuer så som i nyhetsinslag.

RÖDLUVAN OCH VARGEN en novell och artistbook. Jag bifogar manuskriptet men även dokumentation. Boken är handbunden. Om- slaget består utav min akvarellmålning, pressad på läder. Boken är varvad med fotografier och illustrationer, tryckt på semitransperant papper. Texten är tryckt på indiskt, handpressat akvarellpapper och jag har även valt att måla direkt i boken på vissa ställen där det föll mig in...  Likt ett drömtillstånd speglar de olika arketyperna i berättelsen varandra. Rödluvan, Mormor, Vargen, Jägaren och den frånvarande modern är olika aspekter inom ett och samma själv. Rollerna är sammanblandade och flytande. Vem är offer? Vem är förövare? Jag har skrivit berättelsen med den intentionen och arbetat fram en bok på samma sätt som jag skulpterar eller komponerar musik på. Berättelsen är inte linjär utan mångdimensionell, likt en skulptur. Jag kan vända och vrida på den och få syn på olika betydelser, for- mer eller formuleringar. Jag använde skrivandet som en metod att tömma ut mig på, tömma ut allt mörkt och förbjudet som lurar i skuggorna av mitt jag. Allt sådant jag vill glömma, gömma, tränga bort eller skäms för. Berättelsen om Rödluvan och Vargen är ock- så ett försök till att tänja på gränserna för hur en bok bör vara strukturerad, och röra mig någonstans bortom olika uppdelningar vi människor annars gärna gör naturligt. Rödluvans verklighet påminner mer om en psykos, eller ett drömtillstånd. Jägaren får repre- sentera det jordade, det som ligger nära något som kanske är läsarens verklighet, ett slags nu. Kanske är det Jägaren själv som skrivit hela berättelsen? Det finns en komplexitet och en paradox med att göra djupgående, psykologiska processer, ju närmare man kommer sanningen om sig själv, sina drifter, sin önskan, sin vilja, sina dolda agendor och känslor, desto svårare blir det att urskilja - död från liv, sant från falskt, rätt från fel, förövare från offer, äckligt från vackert, känsla från tanke, den egna kroppen från omgivningen, jaget från jaget osv osv. Jag ville illustrera detta på många vis kaotiska tillstånd och varande. En grumlig mellanvärld, där jaget smälter samman med sin omgivning, med sina fantasier, med då-tid och en oro inför framtiden. Jag ville porträttera något kladdigt mellan människor, något gränslöst och hur det känns att leva i detta tillstånd. Jag har lärt mig att jag bär på känslor och metoder att hantera dessa på som på många vis gör mig sjuk. Vi ser överenskommelser, myter, normer och språk men är dessa snarare murar, eller barri- ärer mellan vad som sägs och vad som verkligen pågår? Där något kärlekslöst och giftigt kan glida in, under en mantel av godhet och medkänsla, ett självebdrägeri där jag i grunden är min största fiende. På vilket annat mer verklighetstroget vis kunde jag illustrera detta skrämmande fenomen på om inte igenom en saga.  / Imelda

Eleven head lettuce varieties and four leaf lettuce varieties were grown in a replicated small plot trial on the Safford Agricultural Center in 1998. Desertgreen variety of head lettuce from Harris Moran produced a crop with the best head weight, size and firmness rating. Premiere variety followed closely behind. Of the leaf lettuce varieties tested, Saguaro Romaine produced the best quality and quantity product. Per acre yields are calculated for each variety in the study.

Candy Corner ranked number one and two in the early and late dates of planting, respectively, and FMX 413 ranked number one in the later date of planting study. Both varieties produced over 2,500 dozen ears per acre. Sugar readings were made and tabulated for all varieties using a portable refractometer.

Abstract:
Detta examensarbete kommer att gestalta en ny infart på ett kommande bostadsområde i centrala Piteå. Bostadsområdet heter Vargen 30 och i det ligger idag behandlingsenheten Strömgården samt öppna parkeringar och garage till närboende. Ombyggnationerna kommer även att påverka äldreboendet Österbo vilket kommer att framgå i rapporten. Gestaltningen gör jag med underlag från fysisk planering på Piteå kommun, där Kenneth Sjödin visar den vision som de har utifrån det förutsättningar som finns. Förutsättningar innebär viss mån av inskränkningar i planeringen, som jag måste ta hänsyn till. Befintliga byggnader, fordonstransporter etc., måste tas i beräkning. Examensarbetet bygger på ett verkligt projekt, från vision till färdiga bygghandlingar där flera olika alternativ har tagits fram, samt motivering till varför det blev just det förslaget som valdes. Projekteringen innebar arbete med underlag från Piteå kommun där jag fick anpassa projektet till Norconsults riktlinjer vad gäller standarder och former. Kontakt hölls kontinuerligt med ansvarig på Piteå kommun som beslutade hur området skulle planläggas. Arbetsgången har utförligt beskrivits i rapportdelen med bilder samt med mina egna tankegångar rörande den nya infarten. Kommunen antog mitt förslag och byggnationerna förväntas starta sommaren 2019.

Abstract:
Enligt tidigare studier reagerar marknaden negativt när företag varslar om uppsägning, men reaktionen beror på motivet, som kan vara reaktivt eller proaktivt. Majoriteten av studierna undersöker den amerikanska marknaden och en lågkonjunktur vilket kan påverka resultatet. Denna uppsats undersöker den svenska marknaden samt fler konjunkturvariationer. Syftet är att undersöka den svenska aktiemarknadens reaktion när ett företag varslar, samt skillnaden beroende på det angivna motivet. Den onormala avkastningen studeras i en eventstudie. Totalt studeras 182 varsel från företag noterade på Stockholmsbörsen under 2006-2015. Resultaten visar ingen statistisk signifikant reaktion för gruppen med alla varsel. För reaktiva varsel finner vi en svag negativ onormal avkastning, och för proaktiva varsel finner vi överlag en positiv onormal avkastning. Vi uppmäter en mildare reaktion än tidigare studier. Anledningenkan vara att konjunkturläget påverkar marknadsreaktionen, att värderelevansen i varsel har förändrats sedan tidigare studier, eller att det finns en skillnad mellan reaktionen i olika länder.

Abstract:
This paper studies qualitative change taking place during economic development. In the model presented qualitative change is created by the emergence of new sectors, each of which produces an output that is different from other sectors. A system with a variable number of sectors is simulated. The model predicts that under given conditions the evolution of a sector tends to follow a life cycle in both the number of firms and in terms of employment. The cyclical behavior is determined by the balance between the increasing intensity of competition, saturating demand and increasing returns to adoption. In its present form the model is a simplified representation of the economic system, but several improvements can be introduced in order to increase its degree of realism. (author's abstract)

The Government of Thailand decided recently to introduce a legal system for the protection of plant variety right (PVR) in order to meet its commitment under the TRIPs agreement (part of the WTO agreement) to protect new varieties of plants. Having taken this significant decision - although in reality the decision was probably little more than a formality because of the TRIPs commitment - the government must assess the likely impact of PVR on public and private interests in Thailand and, in the light of that assessment, construct a PVR system suited to the country's particular needs (so far as these can be envisaged). The likely impact of the government's decision and the choice to be made constitute the backbone of this thesis as well as its prime focus. A PVR system is intended primarily to promote invention and innovation in the field of plant breeding. Whether the availability of PVR in Thailand will achieve those objectives cannot be said at this point. Studies carried out in countries with mature PVR systems claim, despite the lack of any solid evidence on which to found the claims, that PVR systems have certain positive or beneficial effects, for example more varieties giving higher yields and better adapted to growing conditions. On the other hand, some commentators believe that these benefits result from other factors, in particular technological advances (for example, improvements in cultivation and management of commercial crops). This thesis concludes that the availability or grant of PVR in Thailand will not have any radical impact on public and private interests there. At present, plant breeding and seed production are carried out by public and private sectors. Available data on seed production and consumption indicate the need for more investment in plant breeding and seed production, particularly in the private sector. A PVR system is unlikely to encourage breeders or producers to invest more because the availability of PVR is not a vital determinant in investment decisions. Fortunately. as far as can be seen at present, a PVR system is unlikely to have negative effects, e. g. seed price rises, obstacles to technological development or environmental dangers. In considering the most appropriate system, the major factors to be assessed are economic impact, existing political commitment, and practicality. The government should adopt the system established by the 1978 UPOV Convention, in preference to the 1991 Convention, because the earlier Convention is the more appropriate for Thailand's developmental needs.

Whether Hong Kong English (HKE) should be a linguistic variety has been one of the most-debated topics in HKE studies since the landmark study of Luke and Richards (1982). Scholars dispute over whether the set of features in the English spoken or written by Hong Kong people should be regarded as a variety. Given how this decision should not sole depend on the scholars, and how the users' viewpoints should also be considered, it is necessary to survey the opinions and attitudes of Hong Kong people on these features.The variety status is highly dependable on how people's attitudes towards its recognition and agreement in society. However, little attention was given to the people's attitudes towards online HKE and whether these attitudes help to constitute a linguistic variety of online HKE. In this project, I apply the linguistic norms framework (Poon, forthcoming) to test whether Hong Kong people see these features constitute a variety. This study investigated the attitudes of Hong Kong people towards online HKE, and in the process, explored whether the recognition of online HKE might allow us to recognise Hong Kong English as a variety in both online and offline contexts.

Each year the University of Arizona conducts upland cotton variety tests to evaluate the performance of a diverse set of experimental lines and commercial varieties in Arizona. One such program is the Regional Variety Test (RVT). In 1999, we evaluated a total of 59 varieties at one or more locations in Arizona. These varieties were submitted to us for testing by 16 private seed companies and two public breeding programs. This report presents the results of the trials conducted at Maricopa, Marana, and Safford.
