Full textThe purpose of this study is to investigate sfi-teachers’ experiences of distance education in the spring of 2020. The study focuses on examining how digital tools were adapted to students’ differences, how communication with students was established and what teaching methods characterized sfi teachers’ distance education. By describing the transition to distance education caused by pandemics such as SARS and Covid-19, the challenges and opportunities that teachers face in the digital classroom environment are described. Thereafter, theoretical aspects of communication and the teacher’s role in creating relationships with students in the digital learning environment are highlighted. In order to understand the phenomenon of distance education in its entirety, further points of departure are presented that should be taken into account when such education is designed. This is an empirical study where method triangulation with both quantitative and qualitative studies. A total of 126 respondents responded to the online survey and six respondents participated in semi-structured interviews. The results indicate that the teachers’ approach to distance education during the pandemic, and the inequality in students’ digital competence and the students’ inadequate access to digital technology in connection with the transition, were decisive for how new teaching methods and teaching strategies were formed. Sfi teachers used the digital tools and digital resources that were already incorporated in the classroom education. Both synchronous and asynchronous communication were applied to a large extent, where synchronous communication was valued thanks to its similarity to the physical classroom layout and asynchronous communication because of the increased accessibility to teaching materials. The sfi teachers’ teaching challenges consisted of difficulties in being available to the students who needed support and in following up the students’ learning processes at a distance.

Full textSyfte Syftet med studien var att undersöka eleverna i gymnasieskolans och deras erfarenheter av distansstudier jämfört med klassrumsstudier. Frågeställningar • Vilka yttre förutsättningar upplevde eleverna på gymnasieskolan att det fanns med distansstudier och klassrumsstudier i ämnet idrott och hälsa? • Hur upplevde eleverna på gymnasieskolan att de yttre förutsättningarna påverkade för att uppnå målen i idrott och hälsa? Metod Kvantitativ studie där insamlingen av data gjordes i form av en webbenkät med enbart svarsalternativ kopplade till frågorna. I studien deltog 102 elever från fyra olika gymnasieklasser i årskurs 2 och 3 där skolorna var belägna inom Stockholmsregionen. Resultat Det viktigaste resultatet studien visade var att det fanns en signifikant skillnad för hur eleverna upplevde att det var att uppnå målen i idrott och hälsa på distans kontra studier i skolan. Resultaten belyste också att eleverna upplevde att de hade sämre tillgång till yttre förutsättningar vid distansstudier kontra studier i skolan idrott och hälsa. Slutsats Resultaten visade tydligt att elever som läste på distans under våren 2020 upplevde att det var svårare att uppnå målen i idrott och hälsa än med studier på plats i skolan och de bristande tillgångarna till yttre förutsättningar kunde vara en förklaring till detta.

Full textIn elite sports, motivation is described as an essential factor an athlete must have to undergo training and to do what is required to become the world’s best. Motivation can be examined using the Self-determination theory, where three basic needs: autonomy, relatedness and competence must be fulfilled to achieve intrinsic self-determined motivation. The purpose of this study was to investigate how motivation of elite athletes changed during the spring and summer 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic put the sports world on paus with cancelled competitions and the postponement of the Olympics. Seven semi-structured interviews with elite athletes, competing in individual sports, were conducted, and analysed with a theoretical thematic analysis. This study concluded that the basic needs in motivation of elite athletes were experienced to be both positively and negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The study contributes to an increased understanding of the needs of elite athletes during the pandemic and in which areas they need extra support.

Full textAim The aim of this study was to examine how teachers experienced distance teaching in physical education (PE) during the corona pandemic spring 2020. In order to adress this aim, the following research questions have been investigated: 1. How do the teachers describe what their distance teaching in PE looks like? 2. What challenges and opportunities do the teachers experience with conducting distance teaching in PE? 3. What factors affect the teachers distance teaching in PE? Method The study has a qualitative methodological approach, where semi structured qualitative interviews was used as data collection. The theoretical framework of the study was Georg von Wright´s theory of action. Six PE high school teachers were interviewed. The interviews were conducted in the video conference program Zoom. Gathered data was analysed through empirically guided thematic analysis, and through theory-led thematic analysis. Results The results of the study showed that the interviewees conducted both theoretical and practical distance teaching. Furthermore, the interviewees experienced that the new teaching situation brought greater challenges than opportunities. Where the biggest challenges were to conduct meaningful physical education and to interact with the students. With using von Wright´s theory of action the results showed that the teachers adapted distance teaching was influenced by both internal factors; such as teachers’ willingness to engage students in physical education, and external factors; such as the sudden transition to distance education. Conclusions The following conclusions were drawn from this study: 1) the interviewees experienced that the distance teaching in PE during the corona pandemic spring 2020 limited their opportunities to conduct meaningful physical education, and 2) the interviewees experienced that the new teaching situation led to challenges in interacting with the students. Thus, there is room for development of distance teaching in PE to meet the challenges posed by the new pedagogical situation. Finally, directions for future research into distance teaching in PE is suggested.

Full textSyftet med denna studie är att genom innehållsanalys tolka svenska nyhetsmediers porträttering av människorättsrörelsen Black Lives Matter under våren och sommaren 2020. Studien undersöker också potentiella skillnader i porträttering av rörelsen i Sverige och rörelsen i USA samt hur porträtteringen kan förklaras. Gestaltningsteori och teorin om moralpanik användes för att skapa förståelse för porträtteringens uttryck och konsekvenser. Med ett hermeneutiskt angreppssätt tolkades 53 artiklar från fyra av Sveriges ledande nyhetstidningar. Studiens främsta resultat visade att svenska nyhetsmedier tenderar att porträttera rörelsen i Sverige i mer åsiktsbaserade termer i förhållande till rörelsen i USA. Åsikterna tog sig främst i uttryck vid rapportering om rörelsen under demonstrationer i Sverige jämfört med rapporteringen i USA som främst porträtterade rörelsen balanserat och neutralt, men i termer av polisvåld mot svarta afroamerikaner. Tidigare forskning bidrog till ökad förståelse för forskningsfältet och till att granska studiens resultat i förhållande till det teoretiska ramverket. Studiens slutsats är att svenska nyhetsmedier tenderar att porträttera Black Lives Matter i mer polariserade termer om rörelse-aktuella händelser pågår i en geografisk närhet. Rörelsen i förhållande till våldsutövning porträtteras dessutom på olika sätt beroende på vilken historia rörelsen har i respektive land. Trots att mönster kunnat urskiljas är relationen dock komplex baserat på uppsatsens omfång och empiriska material.

Full textThis thesis constitutes an independent and independent study that is intended to complement the Vinnova project Swedish Edtest, which runs 2020-2022. The project aims to design a scientific method for implementing and evaluating digital learning resources and to contribute to the development of suppliers' services and products. This degree project focuses on leadership, working methods and organizational conditions linked to successful innovation work. The leaders and persons with leading and/or coordinating assignments interviewed in the study work within one of the municipal or independent principals who are also partners in the project.The study shows that the school as an organization has proven to be far more agile and innovative than expected. Participating school leaders have all testified that the starting distance for reteaching has been short and beyond expectations, which suggests that there is a much greater innovation capacity among schools and principals than was previously known when leading and organizing the work. This may be one reason why methods and structures have not been designed to harden and further develop the innovation that is taking place. As far as the innovation that is taking place now is concerned, the added value does not seem to lie primarily in working digital, but that the digital way of working develops teaching and the way in which knowledge objectives are managed and achieved.All interviewees report that the transition to long-distance and distance learning has increased the innovation capacity of the activities in which the work is managed or coordinated. To what extent and in what way varies. The majority of those interviewed state that they already see solutions or methods that are judged to support learners' learning even when returning to regular teaching and activities. Examples given are increased digital knowledge and maturity among the staff, increased collegial cooperation and exchange of experience, re-design of teaching with a greater focus on what is really important for students to achieve the goals of their education, and greater flexibility of when and remote education.The interviewed leaders promote innovation and learning through transformative and relationship-oriented leadership with strong involvement in the core process of the school and with a focus on learning over technology in terms of innovation. They also describe in a large majority that this spring's transition to remote and distance education has created a marked development-oriented leadership among themselves as well as in their staff groups. Personal conditions required are courage and trust, long-term approach and perseverance, commitment and participation. Organisational conditions required are local free space and mandates as well as resources and time. Other recurring concepts are management's focus, targeted development areas and conditions to prioritize and actively participate.The majority of those interviewed state that innovation support work is done voluntarily, partly by creating conditions for interested and forward-leaning teachers and partly mandatory through organized meetings, divided according to different focus. The organisation around evaluating impact and added value is, according to a significant majority of the interviewees, on the other hand, underdeveloped or missing completely.

Full textAbstract The Covid-19 (Corona) pandemic struck in the spring of 2020, creating concern and anxiety amongst the population at large and in schools especially. The authorities decided at a national level that primary schools should remain open and that education should continue as usual, as opposed to teaching remotely via digital media. Despite this directive, teachers at the local level acted differently, making their own decisions or following those of their local principals. The purpose of this study, which is based on reflective school didactic theory (Uljens, 2011) and relational theory (Aspelin, 2018) is to investigate and broaden our knowledge of how middle school teachers in science subjects described how they taught students who remained at home in subject specific reading comprehension. The study also examines how they maintained their relationship with students at home during the spring of 2020 from a school didactic and relational perspective. Nine middle school science teachers were interviewed individually following a qualitative, semi-structured form of interviews. The analysis reflects a realistic interpretation (Kvale & Brinkmann, 2020) of the teachers’ accounts as to how they had taught remotely, and the analysis of the empiric material was based on the study’s three research questions: interpretation of national directives, didactic choices and maintaining relationships. The results of the study revealed considerable variation in the respondents’ answers to all research questions. The study’s main contribution to previous research illustrates how teachers interpreted directives from the state at the national level in different ways. The study also shows that different ways of teaching science subjects and supporting students’ subject specific reading comprehension can be challenging when teaching remotely. Consequently, the teacher’s didactic choice, the teachings what, how and who/which in remote teaching can be decisive. Most of the teachers interviewed for the study experienced challenges in maintaining relationships. However, the study concluded that in cases where teachers had interactive meetings via digital video channels, they found it was possible to create a personal contact and relate to the students who could see and be seen on an emotional as well as educational level. As the study focused on an unexplored field at the national level, further research into the didactic and relational choices that teachers made during the first wave of the pandemic in the spring of 2020 is of the utmost importance, so that in the event of further waves of the virus, teachers will be able to maintain their relations with students and at the same time provide the same teaching experience for subject-specific reading comprehension and any special needs support whether the students are at home or at school.

Full textDen svenska Försvarsmakten står inför en stor omstrukturering, där de första anställda soldaterna är redo att ta anställning. I övriga Europa har liknande omstruktureringar från värnpliktsarméer till yrkesförsvar lett till problem med rekryteringen och svårigheter att behålla de anställda soldaterna. Det här arbetet genomför en undersökning på tre olika grupper (n=84), gymnasiestudenter, högskole och universitetsstudenter och unga arbetande, för att se vilka faktorer de anser är viktigast för att kunna tänka sig en anställning i Försvarsmakten. Gruppernas attityder till Försvarsmakten och hur de påverkar deras vilja till anställning har även undersökts. För att undersöka detta har en enkät använts. Den teori som har använts i undersökningen är Peter Warrs vitaminmodell, där hans nio arbetsmiljökomponenter utgör kärnan. Resultatet visar att de generellt viktigaste faktorerna för att dessa grupper skulle kunna tänka sig en anställning är lönen och möjlighet till variation, men med en liten skillnad om vilka faktorer som är viktigast. De arbetsmiljöfaktorer som grupperna har angett som viktigast för en eventuell anställning i Försvarsmakten visade sig inte stämma överens med de arbetsmiljöfaktorer grupperna angett som viktigast för att de trivs just nu. Undersökningen visar också att attityden gentemot Försvarsmakten är avgörande för individens vilja till anställning; de som anger sig positiva till Försvarsmakten har även oftare angett att de kan tänka sig en anställning där. Slutsatsen av undersökningen ger att beroende på vilken grupp Försvarsmakten vill rekrytera ifrån, så innebär troligtvis de viktigaste faktorerna för anställning olika saker för de olika grupperna trots att de anger samma faktorer som viktiga.
The Swedish Armed Forces are facing considerable reorganization where, for the first time, a professional army will be employed. Throughout Europe reorganizations like this, from a conscript army to a professional one, have caused problems with recruitment and retention. This essay investigates three different groups: students in high school, students at university, and young workers, to see what factors these groups think are the most important when considering employment in the Swedish Armed Forces. The essay also investigates the attitude among these groups towards the Swedish Armed Forces and how that affects the will to work there. The survey has been done with a questionnaire distributed to these three groups after which the answers were analyzed. The theory used in this essay is one created by Peter Warr, called the vitamin model. Especially interesting in this theory is what Warr refers to as the features of the working environment. The result of this survey shows that the most important factor amongst these groups isthe salary and variety. Between themselves the groups have small differences in the most important factors for employment, but overall the groups are quite similar. The survey also shows that different attitudes towards the Swedish Armed Forces also generate different desires to work there. The conclusion of this survey shows that depending on which groups the Swedish Armed Forceswant to recruit from, the most important factors probably mean different things for the different groups.

The goal was to illustrate how the trademark had developed through history, which role it has in the modern society and how the trademark serves as a creator of identities. The project, mostly the exhibition, was exposed to criticism, which was directed towards the sponsorship deals between The National Museum of Art and five companies.
