Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Vandilsvé is mentioned one single time in Helgakviða Hundingsbana II:35, and it is usually understood as a theophoric place-name. The first element has been read as the name of an otherwise unknown Vandal god, *Vandill, but this interpretation has fallen out of favour today. Another reading is based on the fact that sacral names ending in -vé (-vi) do not necessarily have names of deities as their first element. An example is Töravi, which derives from the old name for the island of Södertörn (Tör) and means “the sacred place of the inhabitants of Tör”. As a parallel to Töravi, it is possible that Vandilsvé refers to Vendill, the old name for the district of Vendsyssel, and means “the sacred place of the inhabitants of Vendel”. Supported by archaeology, the discussion focuses on four different sites in Vendsyssel, which might more or less plausibly represent Vandilsvé; these are Lindholm Høje, Stentinget, Liver, and Ejstrup. In conclusion, it is discussed what impact such an interpretation may have for our understanding of the three eddic poems about Helgi Hundingsbani and Helgi Hjörvarðsson. SAMMANDRAG: Vandilsvé omtalas en enda gång i Helge Hundingsbane II:35, och brukar uppfattas som ett teofort namn för en plats. Förleden har tolkats som namnet på en för övrigt okänd vandalsk gud *Vandill, men få tror idag på denna tolkning. En annan tolkning kan utgå från att vissa sakrala namn på -vé (-vi) inte har gudanamn som förled utan andra företeelser. Ett exempel är Töravi, som kommer av det gamla namnet för ön Södertörn (Tör), och som betyder ”Törbornas helgedom”. Som en parallell till Töravi skulle Vandilsvé kunna syfta på Vendill, det gamla bygdenamnet för Vendsyssel, och betyda ”Vendelbornas helgedom”. Med hjälp av arkeologi diskuteras fyra olika platser i Vendsyssel, vilka med större eller mindre sannolikhet skulle kunna representera Vandilsvé, nämligen Lindholm Høje, Stentinget, Liver och Ejstrup. Avslutningsvis diskuteras vad en sådan tolkning kan ha för konsekvenser för synen på de tre Edda-dikterna om Helge Hundingsbane och Helge Hjörvardsson.

Abstract:
Viscum album L. is a medicinal plants used for many years as a remedy in the traditional medicine and in complementary cancer therapies. We investigated the influence of some host trees: Acer campestre (VAA), Fraxinus excelsior (VAF), Populus nigra (VAP), Malus domestica (VAM), and Robinia pseudoacacia (VAR), on the chemical composition and antioxidant activity of leaves and stems from V. album, as well the influence of the solvent (water and ethanol) used for extraction on biological activity. HPLC with photodiode array detector analysis of bioactive compounds from leaves and stems of mistletoes (V. album) hosted by five differents trees was performed. Antioxidant activities, determined by the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC), (Trolox-equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) methods were compared with the quantification of total phenolics using the Folin -Ciocalteu reagent. V. album hosted by Fraxinus excelsior (VAF), recorded the highest level of total phenolic acids (108.64 μg/g dry matter) while the mistletoe hosted by Malus domestica (VAM) had the lowest level of total polyphenols (39.37 μg/g dry matter). In general, higher antioxidant activity was detected in the alcoholic than in the aqueous extracts. The values obtained for total phenolics in both, aqueous and ethanol extracts, decreased in the order: VAR > VAF > VAP > VAA > VAM. The mistletoe stem extracts contained lower levels of phenolics, as compared to leaves, in both solvents. Our results suggest that mistletoe extracts possess significant antioxidant activities that may be due to their bioactive compounds content, suggesting that this plant may be an important source of natural products with chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic activities.

I det senmoderna samhället är jeans ett unisexplagg som bärs av människor av alla åldrar och alla sociala klasser. Jeansens ursprung som arbetskläder och som kulturellt fenomen har sina rötter i USA och därifrån har plagget spridit sig till resten av världen via amerikansk populärkultur. I Sverige började jeans tas i allmänt bruk i början av 1960-talet, men då tillgången på jeans ännu var begränsad var det först på 1970-talet man kan tala om att en särskild svensk jeanskultur började uppstå. I denna artikel visar jag hur min fallstudie av en grupp unga mäns klädselpraktiker utföll och vad jeans för denna speciella kategori män kan betyda, det vill säga varför deras val av jeans ser ut så som det gör och vad de påverkas av i urvalsprocessen. Avsikten är att göra en teoretisk analys av fenomenet jeansbärande.

A regional description of the pioneer psammophilous grasslands in Poland is given. Abstract Previous velocity–azimuth display (VAD)-based methods of dealiasing folded radial velocities have relied heavily on the VAD uniform-wind assumption and, thus, can fail when the uniform-wind assumption becomes poor around azimuthal circles in a vertical layer and the Nyquist velocity is small (≤12 m s−1). By using the two-step, alias-robust variational (AR-Var) analysis in place of the alias-robust VAD (AR-VAD) analysis for the reference check, the previous AR-VAD-based dealiasing method is improved to an AR-Var-based dealiasing method adaptively for radar radial velocities scanned with small Nyquist velocities. The method has been tested with severely aliased velocity data scanned by the Oklahoma KTLX radar. The robustness and satisfactory performance of the AR-Var-based dealiasing are exemplified by the results obtained for a severe winter ice storm scanned with the Nyquist velocity reduced to 11.51 m s−1.

Under hösten 2017 skickade TfL-redaktionen ut en enkät till ett fyrtiotal forskare, lärare, kritiker och kulturutredare verksamma i Sverige och bland annat Norge som på olika sätt intresserat sig för frågor om litteraturens förhållande till det digitala. Responsen var av olika skäl (tidsbrist var det mest anförda argumentet) mindre än väntat. Totalt fick vi in åtta svar. Utifrån en genussynvinkel är den manliga dominansen slående, vilket emellertid inte kan sägas bero på att kvinnliga forskare, lärare och kritiker inte intresserat sig för dessa frågor. Men oaktat att svarsfrekvensen på enkäten inte var lika hög som vi på förhand trott och hoppats på – samt den i sammanhanget olyckliga genus asymmetrin – var de svar som vi trots allt fick in desto mer initierade. De frågor vi ställde var medvetet formulerade så att de skulle kunna möjliggöra en rad olika ingångar för de tillfrågade att reflektera över digitaliseringens betydelser för litteraturen i stort, men även för den litteraturvetenskapliga forsknings- och undervisningspraktiken: 1. Vad har digitaliseringen haft för betydelser när det gäller produktionen, konsumtionen och distributionen av litteratur? 2. Abstract:
Estimation of the value-at-risk (VaR) of a large portfolio of assets is an important task for financial institutions. As the joint log-returns of asset prices can often be projected to a latent space of a much smaller dimension, the use of a variational autoencoder (VAE) for estimating the VaR is a natural suggestion. To ensure the bottleneck structure of autoencoders when learning sequential data, we use a temporal VAE (TempVAE) that avoids the use of an autoregressive structure for the observation variables. However, the low signal-to-noise ratio of financial data in combination with the auto-pruning property of a VAE typically makes use of a VAE prone to posterior collapse. Therefore, we use annealing of the regularization to mitigate this effect. As a result, the auto-pruning of the TempVAE works properly, which also leads to excellent estimation results for the VaR that beat classical GARCH-type, multivariate versions of GARCH and historical simulation approaches when applied to real data.

Introduction: Based on data from the 2017 Global Burden of Disease, it is known that Indonesia is the country with the highest number of scabies incidences out of 195 countries in the world. In addition to humans, scabies is also an infectious disease in mammals with a prevalence of 300 million infestations every year, even in animals the mortality rate from scabies is very high. Until now, it is still unclear whether there is a cross-infestation between human and animal scabies. Morphologically, S. scabiei between variants cannot be distinguished, while research on genetic variation is still not much done. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct studies to enrich genetic information and phylogenetic analysis. Methods: The samples tested were positive PCR results for ITS 2 and CO 1 genes, each on five amplicons, namely three S. scabiei var. hominis, one var. cuniculi, and one var. marmoota. Phylogenetics were arranged based on the closeness of the base arrangement in variants and geographically available in NCBI. Results: Of the five sample isolates studied, the ITS 2 gene amplicon is located in the 417bp band and the phylogenetic analysis of its sequencing has two branches that are unable to distinguish var. hominis and var. animalia. The CO1 gene has electrophoretic results at 317 bp as well as phylogenetic analysis results that specifically divide branches between var. hominis and var. animalia. Conclusion: S. scabiei var. hominis and var. marmoota, and var. cuniculi are distinct species and are host monospecific.

Einkennisliti vörumerkja er hægt að nýta til að skapa tiltekin hugrenningartengsl hjá neytendum og kalla fram tiltekna hegðun. Flestar rannsóknir á litum hafa snúið að áhrifum ólíkra lita, en minna hefur farið fyrir rannsóknum á ólíkum útfærslum af sama grunnlit. Rannsókninni var ætlað að draga úr skorti á slíkum rannsóknum. Í ljósi þess að fyrri rannsóknir hafa sýnt nokkuð samræmdar niðurstöður þess efnis að blár dragi fram skynjun um trúverðugleika voru áhrif ólíkra útfærslna af bláum lit könnuð. Markmiðið var annars vegar að mæla hvort birtustig og litastyrkur hafi áhrif á skynjun neytenda á trúverðugleika fyrirtækis sem nýtir bláan sem einkennislit og hins vegar hvort birtustig og litastyrkur hafi áhrif á áform neytenda um að stunda viðskipti við fyrirtækið. Notast var við tilraunasnið með millihópasniði þar sem þátttakendur (n=528) fengu, með handahófskenndum hætti, eitt af fimm áreitum. Áreitin voru mynd frá skrifstofu fyrirtækis, þar sem blár veggur með myndmerki var áberandi. Það sem aðgreindi áreitin var litaafbrigði bláa litarins á veggnum sem fólst í mismunandi samspili birtustigs og litastyrks. Í kjölfar áreitisins birtust þátttakendum spurningar sem snéru annars vegar að trúverðugleika fyrirtækisins, þar sem þrjár víddir trúverðugleika voru mældar með samtals fimmtán atriðum og hins vegar spurningu sem snéri að áformum um viðskipti. Niðurstöðurnar sýndu að trúverðugleiki var skynjaður meiri þegar birtustig var lágt heldur en þegar það var hátt og átti það við bæði þegar litastyrkur var hár og þegar hann var lágur. Sú útfærsla af bláum sem reyndist líklegust til að ýta undir viðskipti var með lágu birtustigi og lágum litastyrk. Út frá niðurstöðunum má því draga þá ályktun að ekki sé nóg að huga að þeim grunnlit sem á að nota sem einkennislit vörumerkis, heldur þurfi að huga að því að rétt útfærsla af litnum, með tilliti til birtustigs og litastyrks, verði fyrir valinu. Slíkt er bæði líklegt til að styðja við þá ímynd sem ætlunin er að ná fram en jafnframt getur það haft bein fjárhagsleg áhrif á fyrirtæki þar sem rétt val á útfærslu getur aukið líkur á viðskiptum.

This essay examines the connections of motherhood and work in Olga Ravn’s novel Mit arbejde (2020). The novel takes up a feminist-marxist tradition for considering reproduction and maintenance as work that creates value for capitalism, but which remains unacknowledged by the general economy. It combines genres of horror and kitchen sink realism in order to describe the pain of giving birth and the toil of motherhood. While the narrator/protagonist is unable to free herself from the everyday responsibilities of reproductive work, she does find moments of complex happiness in the both vital and repetitive care work. Structured upon the temporality of motherhood the novel points to how the work of reproduction might make other futures possible.

De gamla järnbruken, där det s.k. "tysksmidet" bedrevs, var en specialitet för de skandinaviska länderna, inklusive rikshalvan Finland, under många sekel av europeiskt liv. Förutsättningarna för drift var tillgång på rinnande vatten och på skogar för kolande. Malmen köptes som regel och transporterades sjöledes. Själva bruket var en omfattande och dyrbar anläggning som krävde stora kapitalinsatser och en talrik personal för helt olikartade uppgifter. Driften av ett järnbruk uppfattades såsom ett monopol, och var ett privilegium som beviljades av kunglig myndighet: i Sverige av Bergskollegium, i det danska Norge av Oberbergsamtet. Produktion av järn, främst utsmitt s.k. "stångjärn" var de karga nordiska ländernas viktigaste exportartikel, sedan en tidigare betydande europeisk efterfrågan på koppar upphört under tidigt 1600-tal. Avsikten med denna artikel är att förklara produktionsprocessen på ett järnverk - en "träkolshytta", vilka arbetsfaser som förekom under fackmäns ledning, och vad som ankom på det meniga arbetsfolket. Vidare alla de sysslor som utfördes utanför bruket såsom körslor och kolandet eller sjötransporterna av främst malm. Allt som allt sysselsatte bruket, utöver utlänningar med teknisk 'know-how' och bättre inkomster, ett hundratal lågavlönade vilka utförde tungt kroppsarbete, bodde fast i brukets bostäder, och därför var fast knutna till företaget. Fokus kommer att läggas vid botarnas kunskaper om magi, vilka de var, skälen till att de blev anklagade, vilka det var som anklagade dem, hur de ställde diagnos, vad det var som troddes ha orsakat sjukdomarna och varifrån botarna fick sin kunskap samt rättsliga påföljder. Ämnet ger oss insikt i vilken grad de folkliga trosföreställningarna och inställningarna gentemot botarna skilde sig från de elitistiska, alltså lärda trosföreställningar och attityder som omfattades av kyrkan och statsmakten, i vilken grad statsmaktens ambition att motverka folklig magi och botare omsattes i praktiken och i vilken grad denna uppfattning fick genomslag bland folket, samt botarnas roll och funktion i samhället och på vilket sätt botarna medverkade i ett "magiskt system". Temat för min magisteravhandling var släktföremål i hemmet, det vill säga föremål associerade med släkten. Frågeställningen gällde: hur ting kan representera släkten och hur vardagliga, ceremoniella, rituella och memorabila ting skiljer sig i placering, uppmärksamhet och användning i hemmet. Materialet för avhandlingen bestod av kvalitativa intervjuer och deltagande observationer gjorda i Jakobstad våren 2014 samt en fältdagbok med teckningar. Om informanterna kan nämnas att de har sitt ursprung och historiska rötter i bonde- och arbetarbefolkningen i Österbotten. Syftet var att utreda vad ett släktföremål kan vara och vilken dess betydelse för individen, hemmet och släktbilden var. Den här artikeln presenterar de mest centrala resultaten från min avhandling. Jag har valt att mer ingående redogöra för följande frågor: Vad är ett släktföremål? Hur urskiljs de i hemmen? Varför (varför inte) har de en plats i hemmet? Och på vilka grunder tilldelas släktföremålen ett värde? Jag kommer att belysa släktföremålsproblematiken med exempel och citat från informanternas svar.

The biological and molecular properties of Tomato leaf curl Gujarat virus from Varanasi, India (ToLCGV-[Var]) were characterized. ToLCGV-[Var] could be transmitted by grafting and through whitefly transmission in a persistent manner. The full-length genome of DNA-A and DNA-B of ToLCGV-[Var] was cloned in pUC18. Sequence analysis revealed that DNA-A (AY190290) is 2,757 bp and DNA-B (AY190291) is 2,688 bp in length. ToLCGV-[Var] could infect and cause symptoms in tomato, pepper, Nicotiana benthamiana, and N. tabacum when partial tandem dimeric constructs of DNA-A and DNA-B were co-inoculated by particle bombardment. DNA-A alone also is infectious, but symptoms were milder and took longer to develop. ToLCGV-Var virus can be transmitted through sap inoculation from infected tomato plants to the above-mentioned hosts causing the same symptoms. Open reading frames (ORFs) in both DNA-A and DNA-B are organized similarly to those in other begomoviruses. DNA-A and DNA-B share a common region of 155 bp with only 60% sequence identity. DNA-B of ToLCGV-[Var] shares overall 80% identity with DNA-B of Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus-Severe (ToLCNDV-Svr) and 75% with ToLCNDV-[Lucknow] (ToLCNDV-[Luc]). Comparison of DNA-A sequence with different begomoviruses indicates that ToLCGV-[Var] shares 84% identity with Tomato leaf curl Karnataka virus (ToLCKV) and 66% with ToLCNDV-Svr. ToLCGV-[Var] shares a maximum of 98% identity with another isolate of the same region (ToLCGV-[Mir]; AF449999) and 97% identity with one isolate from Gujarat (ToLCGV-[Vad]; AF413671). All three viruses belong to the same species that is distinct from all the other geminivirus species described so far in the genus Begomovirus of the family Geminiviridae. The name Tomato leaf curl Gujarat virus is proposed because the first sequence was taken from an isolate of Gujarat, India.

Sommaren år 2000 började jag arbeta som frilanceskribent för den österbottniska regionaltidningen Vasabladet. Jag jobbade på sportredaktionen och min uppgift var att skriva referat av lokala matcher i fotbollens division 2. Det var första gången jag skrev något som skulle publiceras, och nervös som jag var bad jag om råd av en av de mera rutinerade sportjoumalistema, närmare bestämt min far. Rådet jag fick löd: "Tänk på att texten skall vara lätt att läsa och skriv om sånt som läsarna är intresserade av". Exakt hur detta skulle gå till fick jag inget svar på. För att ta reda på vad läsarna kunde tänkas vara intresserade av bläddrade jag igenom ett antal matchreferat som tidigare publicerats i tidningen. Eftersom jag hade läst en hel del idrottstexter förut var den stiltypiska terminologin med sina "kanoner" och "fantomräddningar" mig bekant sedan tidigare. När jag nu läste igenom texterna med frågan "Hur?" i bakhuvudet, fann jag vissa tendenser som jag inte hade iakttagit förut. Det som slog mig allra tydligast var likheten i texternas form och innehåll. Jag fick intrycket av att de nästan alla följde samma struktur: först kom resultatet, sedan matchförloppet och till sist intervjuer och framtidsutsikter - lite ingående i varandra men presenterade i texten i denna ordning.

Aim. Find out the inheritance patterns of the trait “winterness / springness” in hybrids between representatives of einkorn wheat species. Methods. Crossings were carried out using the “single cross” method. The nature of inheritance of the growth habit was determined using hybridological analysis. Results. It has been shown that in the hybrids of wild wheat forms T. boeoticum and T. urartu with cultivated T monococcum and T. sinskajae, the winter growth habit of wild forms dominates over the spring one of cultivated forms. Differences in “winterness / springness” phenotype between parental forms in crosses of T.monococcum var. macedonicum with T.urartu var. spontaneorubrum and T.boeoticum var. bicolor; T.sinskajae var. sinskajae with T.urartu var. spontaneorubrum and T.boeoticum var. thaoudar; T.boeoticum var. thaoudar with T.monococcum var. monococcum, T.sinskajae var. sinskajae and T.monococcum var. macedonicum; T.boeoticum var. kurbagalensense with T.sinskajae var. sinskajae and T.monococcum var. monococcum are controlled by a single gene. The difference between the two wild forms in crossing T.boeoticum var. thaoudar × T.boeoticum var. kurbagalensense is controlled by two genes. In the crosses T.boeoticum var. thaoudar with T.monococcum var. monococcum, T.sinskajae var. sinskajae and T.monococcum var. macedonicum; T.boeoticum var. kurbagalensense × T.sinskajae var. sinskajae, the parental forms also differ digenously. Conclusions. Winterness of einkorn wheat wild forms dominates over the springness of cultivated forms. The difference in the growth habit between the studied einkorn forms is due to differences in 1 – 2 pairs of genes.

Abstract:
Variations in the fruit morphological features of Capsicum annuum varieties were studied. Varieties studied include var. abbreviatum, var. annuum, var. accuminatum, var. grossum, and var. glabriusculum. The fruit morphology revealed attenuated fruit shape with rounded surfaces in var. glabriusculum, and cordate fruit shape with flexuous surface in var. annuum, abbreviatum and accuminatum. The fruit is a berry and may be green, yellow, or red when ripe. The fruit epidermal cell-wall patterns are polygonal in shape with straight and curved anticlinal walls in all the five varieties. The fruit of var. abbreviatum and var. grossum is trilocular, while that of var. accuminatum and annuum is bilocular, and that of var. glabriusculum is tetralocular. Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum had the highest mean number of seeds (108.4) and var. annuum had the lowest number of seeds (41.3) per fruit. The fruit is conspicuously hollowed in var. glabriusculum, accuminatum, and annuum but inconspicuously hollowed in var. abbreviatum and var. grossum. These features are shown to be good taxonomic characters for delimiting the five varieties of Capsicum annuum.

Specimen examinations and field observations revealed that Bupleurum smithii var. parvifolium was distinctly different from B. smithii var. smithii in umbel, leaf, and fruit morphology, but was very similar to B. commelynoideum var. flaviflorum. Based on these morphological evidences, the present study re-examined the taxonomic status of these taxa through morphological, cytological, and phylogenetic analyses. The results showed distinguishable features in the width of middle leaves and bracteoles of B. smithii var. parvifolium compared to B. smithii var. smithii. Morphological variation between B. smithii var. parvifolium and B. commelynoideum var. flaviflorum was continuous and overlapping. Notably, the chromosome number of B. smithii var. parvifolium was 2n = 14 (x = 7), consistent with B. commelynoideum var. flaviflorum, whereas B. smithii var. smithii was 2n = 64 (x = 8). Additionally, phylogenetic analyses revealed B. commelynoideum var. flaviflorum nested within B. smithii var. parvifolium, and that both were distant from the B. smithii var. smithii and B. commelynoideum var. commelynoideum. Based on the evidence above, the differences between B. smithii var. parvifolium and B. smithii var. smithii extend beyond the level of intraspecific variation, and B. commelynoideum var. flaviflorum is considered to be identical with B. smithii var. parvifolium. Hence. A new combination and status, B. parvifolium (Shan & Y.Li) Q.R.Liu & L.H.Wang, comb. et stat. nov., is proposed. Furthermore, B. commelynoideum var. flaviflorum should be treated as a synonym of B. parvifolium.

Mitt undersökningsmaterial för denna artikel är 9 intervjuer som gjordes under sommaren år 1993. Min roll i insamlingsarbetet var då enbart som upptecknare eller insamlare. Jag har nu drygt 10 år efteråt, i samband med en proseminarieuppsats i folkloristik, börjat fundera på vilken min roll var under intervjuerna. Redan för 10 år sedan upplevde jag intervjuarbetet som ett tydligt rollspel från min sida. Med den erfarenhet jag har idag försöker jag ta reda på vad en oerfaren intervjuare kan uppleva under sitt allra första intervjuprojekt. Jag hoppas att artikeln blir en aha-upplevelse för andra intervjuare, där de kan göra jämförelser med vad de själva har upplevt och kanske ta lärdom av mina misstag.

Abstract:
Isolates of an unidentified Rhizoctonia sp. (NP isolates), obtained from creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera var. palustris) in Japan that exhibited symptoms of a new disease, were compared with isolates of three varieties of Waitea circinata var. oryzae, var. zeae, and var. circinata. NP isolates also were compared with isolates of R. oryzae obtained from creeping bent-grass exhibiting white patch-like symptoms (RW isolates). The color and size of sclerotia, color of mycelia, and pigment deposition of NP isolates was similar to that of RW isolates and W. circinata var. circinata, but distinctly different from W. circinata var. oryzae and W. circinata var. zeae. The optimal temperature for hyphal growth of NP isolates, RW isolates, and W. circinata var. circinata was 28°C, and for W. circinata var. oryzae and W. circinata var. zeae was 30°C. Pathogenicity tests on creeping bentgrass showed that the severity of disease caused by NP isolates, RW isolates, and W. circinata var. circinata was greater than with W. circinata var. oryzae, but lower than with W. circinata var. zeae. No significant differences in symptom expression were apparent among NP isolates, RW isolates, and W. circinata var. circinata. A phylogenic tree, obtained using the results of random amplified polymorphic DNA-polymerase chain reaction (RAPD-PCR), showed that isolates of W. circinata var. oryzae and W. circinata var. zeae separated into individual clusters, while NP isolates, RW isolates, and W. circinata var. circinata clustered together. The lengths of the rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of NP isolates, RW isolates, and W. circinata var. circinata were identical but smaller than those of W. circinata var. oryzae and W. circinata var. zeae. Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of the rDNA-ITS region, using three enzymes (HapII, HinfI, and MboI), also showed that NP isolates were the same as RW isolates and W. circinata var. circinata, but different from W. circinata var. oryzae and W. circinata var. zeae. Based on these results, the NP isolates causing a new disease on bentgrass are W. circinata var. circinata, and that RW isolates are also W. circinata var. circinata but not R. oryzae. We propose that the name of the disease on creeping bentgrass caused by W. circinata var. circinata is brown ring patch.
