Abstract:
A programme of archaeological assessment, funded through the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund, was undertaken at the Valdoe Quarry in West Sussex ahead of a renewed and final stage of gravel extraction at the site. This paper gives an account of the evidence for human activity recovered in the course of this work. The analysis demonstrates that the Valdoe Quarry contained archaeology relating to the transport and modification of bifaces. These signatures formed part of wider patterns of land-use operated by the same hominin groups found at Boxgrove, within a single, developing palaeolandscape. It is concluded that further activity sites remain to be discovered within the general environs of the Valdoe and the parish of East Lavant where historically there have been surface finds of bifaces.

Following the enlargement in 2004 and 2007, the European Union (EU) has been made of Western states of old democracy, as well as of post-communist countries of the Central and East Europe (CCEE), the latter counting less than two decades of democratic development. These two parts of Europe differ significantly with regard to the historical and political experience, cultural traditions, the level of economic and social development. The EU, however, functions as an integrated political and economic community. The key sign of the EU integration is the decision-making at the EU level. Decisions are taken after consultation with the member states, as well as with civil society. The topic of the research has been inspired by the EU governance reform which designates a greater role to consultations with civil society in the decision-making at the EU level. The Turin European Council in 1996 provided the Intergovernmental Conference negotiating the Treaty of Amsterdam with the mandate “to bring the EU closer to its citizens”. The guidelines of the European governance reform were presented in the European Commission’s White Paper “European Governance” in 2001 . The White Paper provided for a significant role of civil society. Vykdant projektus, projekto vadovas susiduria su rizika, gresiančia kiekvienam projekto procesui. Kiekvienam darbui daro įtaką kokie nors rizikos elementai, dėl kurių to darbo atlikimas gali nukrypti nuo norimo plano. Projekto rizika dažnai yra neištirta, todėl vadovui sunku ją valdyti. Todėl magistrinio darbo problemą galima būtų formuluoti kaip rizikos faktorių identifikavimo ir jų įvertinimo prieš pradedant vykdyti projektą bei jų sekimo projekto vykdymo eigoje būdų ir metodų paiešką.
The paper presents investigation of risk management of the engineering company in project performance. Therefore effective risk management is very important for the company. The theoretical model for project risk management system has been composed on a base of the general sequence of the process in consideration of all aspects of engineering projects. Nevertheless the model is suitable for improvement of the management of any activity based on projects. The innovation project plan for implementation the risk management system based on this model has been worked out for the company. The efficiency of the system is evaluated on forecasted savings, expressed as percentage from company turnover. The investment is found consistent in five years prospective, but the sensitivity analysis discovered it being most sensitive to the efficiency of the system and its cost. Therefore several alternative scenarios have been modeled and the probability analysis provided.

Darbe susisteminamos ir palyginamos skirtingų Lietuvos ir užsienio autorių tiekimo grandinės valdymo sampratos. Detaliai aprašoma, kokią įtaką daro tiekimo grandinės valdymas įmonės veiklai ir kokį vaidmenį vaidina informacijos srautai šiame procese. Atlikto tyrimo rezultatai suteiks kitoms įmonėms galimybę atkreipti dėmesį į svarbiausias informacijos srautų valdymo sritis ir kokie pavojai gali tykoti valdant informacinius srautus. Taip pat siūlomas modelis gali suteikti praktinės naudos filtruojant informaciją ir renkantis prioritetinius informacijos srautus skirstant pagal operatyvinę ir strateginę informaciją. Pagal šį modelį atliktas tyrimas identifikuoja kylančius sunkumus valdant informacijos srautus. Tai leistų įmonėms iš anksto pasiruošti laukiamiems sunkumams. Taip pat tyrimo rezultatuose pateikiama kylančių problemų atsiradimo priežastys ir kurios dažniausiai kartojasi Lietuvoje, o tai savo ruožtu gali padėti, norint išvengti šių problemų.
The paper provides a systematic concepts and comparisons of supply chain management of Lithuanian and foreign authors. Also it describes the influence of SCM to a company and what role plays the information flows in this process. From the practical point of view the research results can help companies to learn the key elements of a SCM and what kind of difficulties are faced in Lithuania. Also the model for information flow management of a supply chain can help to learn how to filter the information and how to choose priority information flows between operational and strategic information flows. The research carried out by this model identifies arising difficulties which are faced while managing the information flows. Also results provide the most frequent reasons of the arising problems. This kind of information can help companies to prepare for awaiting problems and try to avoid them before they arise.

Įvairūs autoriai, nagrinėję mokytojų vadybines kompetencijas, nurodė mokytojų vadybinio kompetentingumo problemą, tačiau mokytojo vadybinių kompetencijų raiška mokyklos valdyme nėra tirta. Magistro darbe suformuluotas tikslas – ištirti Radviliškio rajono gimnazijų, vidurinių ir pagrindinių mokyklų mokytojų vadybinių kompetencijų įtaką jų dalyvavimui mokyklos valdyme. Darbe teoriškai pagrįstos ir ištirtos mokytojų vertybinės nuostatos, vadybinės žinios ir vadybiniai gebėjimai. Atlikta mokytojų vadybinių kompetencijų raiškos mokyklos valdyme analizė. Nustatyta, kad mokytojų socialiniai-demografiniai veiksniai neturi įtakos mokytojo vadybinės kompetencijos raiškai, tačiau Lietuvoje vykdoma švietimo įstaigų tinklo pertvarka daro įtaka mokytojų nuostatai dėl mokyklų ateities perspektyvų. Atskleista, kad gimnazijų, vidurinių ir pagrindinių mokyklų mokytojų vadybinių žinių ir gebėjimų tobulinimas yra vienas iš veiksnių, lemiančių mokyklos valdymo kokybę. Pastebėta, kad tobulinant vienus vadybinius gebėjimus, proporcingai didėja kiti. Tyrimas taikytinas priimant sprendimus mokytojų įtraukimo į mokyklos valdymą srityje, planuojant mokyklos veiklą, pertvarkant mokyklos valdymo sistemą, numatant mokyklų vadovų ir mokytojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimą.
Various authors who had investigated teachers’ leadership competence pointed out its problems however expression of teachers’ leadership competence in school management was not studied. The aim of the Master’s work is to examine how the leadership competence of the teachers of Radviliskis district gymnasiums, secondary and basic schools has influence on their participation in school management. Resolutions of values, knowledge of management and leadership abilities of teachers are theoretically proved and examined in the work. Analyses of expression of teachers leadership competences in school management is carried out. It is ascertained that social-demographical factors of teachers do not have any influence on teacher’s leadership competence however the reform of educational institutions which has been performed in Lithuania has an influence on teachers’ attitude towards the future perspectives of schools. It is revealed that improvement of management knowledge and abilities of teachers is one of the factors which decides the quality of school management. It is noticed while improving one kind of management abilities, the others improve in proportion. Research is applied to make a decision while involving teachers in school management, planning activities of school, reforming management system of school, determining improvement of professional skills of heads and teachers.

Abstract:
Participation of employees in management of an institution is an important determinant of organization activity effectiveness, quality development, satisfaction of employees at work, generation and realization of new ideas. There are no researches performed in Lithuanian institutions, which would analyse participation of employees in decision-making on managerial issues of an organization. Aim of the study: to analyse participation of employees in management of a hospital. There are two objectives to succeed in this aim: 1) to examine managers attitude towards recent participation of employees in management of a hospital; 2) to compare participation of physicians and nurses in the management of a hospital. Methods of the research: questionnaire and comparative analysis. During the research 300 questionnaires were distributed, 206 of them were returned (26 percent of all physicians, 28 percent of all nurses and 38 percent of all nurse’s assistants were questioned). The data was processed and analysed using statistical package SPSS 9.0. Hypotheses were checked using χ2, Wilkinson, Freedman, Man-Witney, Z criterions. Results: it was settled that an input of employees, who participated in the research, to the decision-making on managerial issues of the institution is insufficient. Only 23,2 percents of employees were involved in discussions about the projects implemented in the hospital. Employees should and could be more active. Almost all questioned managers are positive... Gamybos pramonės sektorius apima viena iš didžiausių ir pelningiausią rinkos sektorių pasaulyje. Norėdamos išlikti ir sėkmingai dirbti besikeičiančios konkurencinės rinkos sąlygomis, įmonės neišvengiamai susiduria su konkurencinio pranašumo didinimo poreikiu. Tuo tikslu yra kuriamos veiklos vystymo strategijos, taikoma naujų technologijų diegimas, verslo valdymo procesų tobulinimas, produktų kokybės didinimas, valdymas, kokybės reikalavimų ir standartų taikymas. Vienas iš gamybos kokybės proceso optimizavimo sprendimas gali būti RFID technologijos pritaikymas gamybos veiklose. RFID yra viena naujausių ir besivystančių technologijų, kuri pasaulyje yra pritaikoma ir naudojama įvairiose srityse. Įgyvendintas projektas ir jo pasakoje sukurta RFID sistemos modulis, bei priemonės gali būti naudojamos, ne tik su užsakovo UAB „RTech“ plėtojama „QMS“ (Quality Management Systems) programinę įrangą, bet ir kaip sąsaja tarp RFID įrangos ir vartotojo veiklos taikomosios programos. Manufactory industry is the most profitable sector of world’s market. Companies confronts with competitive market advantages to keep working successfully in continually changing market conditions. Therefore activities development strategies are created, new technologies are used in installation process, perfection of business control process, increasing quality of products, use of standards and quality requirements. The solution of these problems can be use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technologies in manufacture management process. RFID is an automatic identification technology that relies on cheap tags (transponders) that can be attached to objects and storage information on it. The results of this project are RFID systems components witch can be used with other users applications such as „QMS“ (Quality Management Systems) of “RTech” company or other users applications. The successful integration of RFID technologies in manufacture quality management process can give effect in: • Automate and computerize manufacture quality management process; • Increase efficiency of product traceability system process; • Reduce rejects on product supply for consumer’s process. One of the master’s work goals is to evaluate the system, which was created in this work. The system can be improved by ISO standard models and made more flexible to use it for other works.

Svarbiausia – neatsilikti, tobulėti tiek vadovui specialistui, tiek visai įmonei ieškoti būdų, kaip tai daryti. Smulkiojo verslo plėtra ir konkurencinio pajėgumo stiprinimas yra gana sudėtinga , lėtai bei sunkiai sprendžiama problema. Rinka greitai reaguoja, nesvarbu, kokio dydžio įmonė. Racionalus prekių ir paslaugų pasirinkimas, veiksminga kainų ir pardavimo rėmimo politika lemia smulkiojo verslo sėkmę. Changes in the market make businessmen follow novelties, acquire experience in international contact maintenance, and promptly tackle issues related to the quality of production and services. The main thing for managers, experts and other staff members is to keep abreast, keep improving and look for ways how to do this. Development of small business and strengthening of competitive capacities is quite a complicate problem which is slow and difficult to tackle. Market reactions are very quick regardless to the size of a company. Success of small-sized enterprises depends on the rational selection of products and services, efficient pricing and promotional policy. Market economy is under-operating in Lithuania: the mechanism of bankruptcy and competition, effective use of resources is failing. Structural changes are difficult to compare with EU data due to different classification criteria and activity conditions. We can say that business dynamics in our country hasn’t got an equivalent in normally developing countries. Under market economy conditions, the government’s influence should not be confined to the strengthening of the competitive potential of some individual enterprises; it is necessary to guarantee such conditions for business activities that would be in a line with the public business meaning and contribution to economy. Paiūlytas modelis eksperimentui atlikti, atliktas empirinis tyrimas ir pateikti gauti rezultatai, pateiktos išvados ir ateities perspektyvos.
Baysan Method for a Credit Risk Management This paper presents a method combining popular machine learning technique for classification, genetic search as a feature selection method for relevant attribute selection and Altman Z-Score discriminant technique for credit risk evaluation. Bayesian method based classifiers (Naïve Bayes, Bayesian Networks) were explored and used in this article to train classifiers. This method was applied to different sectors in service and industry. Its performance was evaluated using weighted mean accuracy and weighted mean error techniques. In theoretical part several methods were analyzed and described, in the end conclusions and suggestions were pointed.

Universiteto vaidmuo ilgainiui kinta. Tam įtakos turi universitetų funkcijų kaitos poreikis – nepakanka kurti ir perduoti žinias, būtinas žinių ekonomikos vystymuisi. Universiteto veikla reikalauja persiorientavimo nuo procesų link rezultato, ypač ieškant jo veiklos naudos visuomenei. Tai reiškia, kad universitetas, siekdamas veikti kintančiomis sąlygomis, turi elgtis socialiai atsakingai. Šia disertacija siekiama ištirti socialinę atsakomybę (toliau – SA) universiteto mokslinės veiklos valdyme. Pasirinkta tyrimo strategija – grindžiamoji teorija, kuri leido suformuluoti empiriniais duomenimis grįstas teorines prielaidas. Disertacijoje nagrinėjama SA samprata prasmės ir turinio kitimo aspektais, taip pat parodoma SA transformacijos chronologinė raida, išskiriami SA tipai, apibendrinami tyrimai nuo įmonės SA link viešojo sektoriaus SA. Taip pat analizuojama universiteto SA ir jos tipai, SA įtaka universiteto organizacinei kultūrai, pateikiami keli gerosios patirties pavyzdžiai. Ši dalis baigiama įvadu į universiteto mokslinės veiklos socialinį vaidmenį ir mokslininko elgesį. Toliau paaiškinamas SA diegimas etikos priemonėmis, pradedant nuo vertybių institucionalizavimo, sąmoningumo formavimo ir vedant link SA realizavimo universiteto strategijoje. Taip pat pateikiami gauti empirinio tyrimo rezultatai pagal tyrimo klausimus ir jų analizė.
The role of a university develops over time in response to both internal and external pressures. Higher education is now influenced by the need to change even its central functions and mindset – it is no longer sufficient to create and transfer knowledge, necessary for the development of knowledge economy. The performance of a university requires a refocusing from process to outcomes, notably in quest of societal benefit. It means that a university, seeking to operate in a changing environment, should behave in as socially responsible a way as society expects. The aim of this dissertation is to study social responsibility (SR) in the management of university research performance. The selected research strategy – it is the grounded theory which enabled to provide theoretically empirical data-based assumptions. The doctoral dissertation analyses the aspects of altering meaning and scope of the concept of SR, while showing the chronological development of the transformation of SR and types of SR. It also summarises studies, from SR of business to SR of the public sector. Then it analyses university SR and its types; the influence of SR on organisational culture at university; and introduces some examples of good university practice. This part ends with an introduction to the university‘s social role in research performance and the behaviour of the researcher. Lietuvoje, kaip ir visame pasaulyje kasmet daugėja sergančiųjų galutinės stadijos inkstų nepakankamumu. Ši liga yra svarbi medicininė ir socialinė problema, kelianti sudėtingus uždavinius sveikatos priežiūros sistemai. Todėl pastaraisiais metais daug dėmesio skiriama hemodializuojamų pacientų priežiūrai gerinti: hemodializės kokybei, pacientų mokymui, anemijos ir hipertenzijos kontrolei, mitybai ir panašiai. Todėl ši tema yra ir bus aktuali, kadangi pacientų mokymas yra svarbus visose sveikatos priežiūros įstaigose, o slaugytojo pareiga- mokyti sveikus ir sergančius pacientus. Slaugytojai sveikus pacientus supažindina su ligų profilaktika, o sergančius apmoko teisingai vartoti vaistus, išaiškina gydymo režimą, supažindina su dietos ypatumais, moko prisitaikyti prie naujų gyvenimo sąlygų, sugebėti kontroliuoti ir valdyti ligą. DARBO TEMA- hemodializuojamų pacientų mokymo svarba ligos valdyme. TIKSKLAS- nustatyti mokymo svarbą, hemodializuojamų pacientų ligos valdyme. UŽDAVINIAI: 1. Every year the number of patients suffering from end stage renal failure increases both in Lithuania and the world. End stage renal failure is a significant medical and social issue causing a number of complicated goals for the healthcare system. Therefore a lot of attention is being paid towards the improvement of haemodialised patients’ care: quality of haemodialysis, patients’ education, anemia and hypertension control, nutrition etc. It is a relevant issue since patients’ education is important in all healthcare facilities, moreover, a role of nursing staff is to educate healthy and ill people. Nurses help healthy individuals in disease prevention and advise ill patients on how to use medicines correctly, explain about treatment regimes, introduce to important dietary aspects, help to adjust to new life conditions, advise on disease control and management. Abstract:
This work describes the thermoeconomic study of an integrated combined cycle parabolic trough power plant. The parabolic trough plant will economize boiler activity, and thus the thermoeconomic optimization of the configuration of the boiler, including the parabolic trough plant, will be achieved. The objective is to obtain the optimum design parameters for the boiler and the size of the parabolic field. The proposal is to apply the methodology employed by Duran [1] and Valde´s et. al. [2], but with the inclusion of the parabolic trough plant into the optimization problem. It is important to point out that the optimization model be applied to a single pressure level configuration. For future works, it is proposed that the same model be applied to different configurations of integrated combined cycle solar power plants. As a result the optimum thermoeconomic design will be obtained for a parabolic trough plant used to economize the HRSG.
