Abstract:
The natural self-respect of dignity and glory that people have towards their nation's land, population, culture, civilization, history, religion, literature, art, politics, philosophy of life etc. is called nationalism. Poet Maithilisharan Gupta has written- "jisako nij gaaruv tatha nij desh ka abheemaan hai vah nar nahin nar- pusu nira hai ya mere lie jarooree saamaan hai” ||The meaning of the word nation is very broad. In the meaning of 'Rajati Rajate Va Iti Rashtram', the word 'Rashtra' is derived from the root 'Raj Deeptau' and 'Sarvdhatubhya: Shtran' (Aunadic Sutra). National consciousness is situated in the form of a universal routine rather than being representative of any particular place, time or character. This eternal life force, which we are calling national consciousness, resides in the psyche of our countrymen, in their heartland. The feeling of nationalism lives in the minds and hearts of its people. This is the national form of India. The entire Sanskrit literature is full of nationalism, but the irony is that due to not being the language of common people, people are still unaware of the secrets hidden in these texts. Right from the Rigveda to cosmic literature, all the concepts of the nation and its related ideas are full of ideas. In the Vak Sukta of Rigveda, the sage says-“Truth, O king, and falsehood, and deception, come to the dominion of my nation”Some poet has said –“The north which is the sea and the south of the HimalayasVarsha tad bharatam nama bharati yatra santati:||”It is written in the Yajurveda that the nation should be independent, benevolent to the people and strive for the welfare of the world.“Janabhrtya Rashtrada Rashtra Me Datta , Visvabhrtastha Rashtra Da |Give me the nation , give me the nation in my own kingdom” ||It is also described in the Shukla Yajurveda –“........yogakshemam na: kalpantam” ||Also elsewhere –Ittha hi som inmade brahma cakara vardhanam |Shavistha Vajrinnojasa prithivya ni:shasha ahimarchannanu svarajyam”||In the Prithvi Sukta (12/1) and Rashtrabhivardhanam Sukta (1/29) of the Atharva Veda, the sages have described the same:Abhivritya sapatnanabhi ya no arayata: |Abhiprutanyantam tishtabhi yo no durasyati ||The Manusmriti expresses national consciousness as –This is the firstborn of the country-bornAll men on earth will learn their own character.” ||Modern Sanskrit poets are also reflecting nationalism in their poems.

Abstract:
Word learning in 16 children with specific language impairment (SLI) was compared with that of chronological-age controls (CAC) and vocabulary-age controls (VAC), to examine the extent and nature of word-learning deficits in the children with SLI. The children were exposed to novel words in a story and an explicit teaching context. Five tasks assessed how much the children had learned about the words' phonological form and semantic properties after 6 repetitions (Time 1) and again after 12 repetitions (Time 2) of the words in each context. The SLI group performed significantly worse than the CAC group at both Time 1 and Time 2 on all measures of the words presented in both contexts. They performed similarly to the VAC group (who were on average 2 1/2 years younger) on Time 1 and Time 2 measures from both contexts, except for the Naming task at Time 2, on which their performance was significantly lower. These findings suggest that children with vocabulary deficits have difficulties with both phonological and semantic aspects of word learning.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to identify the typological features of modern English and Uzbek imitative words, semantic and contextual description, showing the norm of constant use, translation problems. The morphological, semantic and typological-structural state of mimetic expressions in modern English and Uzbek languages and the problems of mutual translation are highlighted in the research. In Uzbek, imitative words are morphologically divided into separate word groups between independent and non-independent word groups, while in English linguistics, imitative words and independent words formed from imitation are called onomatopeia. However, it was found that the independent words made from imitation in the morphological layer belong to one of the existing independent word groups according to their grammatical signs. Also, the disadvantages of translating imitative words from Uzbek to English, from English to Uzbek, including imitative words can be omitted in the translation text or expressed by transliteration.

Abstract:
We used free association tasks to investigate second language (L2) verb-argument constructions (VACs) and the ways in which their access is sensitive to statistical patterns of usage (verb type-token frequency distribution, VAC-verb contingency, verb-VAC semantic prototypicality). 131 German, 131 Spanish, and 131 Czech advanced L2 learners of English generated the first word that came to mind to fill the V slot in 40 sparse VAC frames such as ‘he __ across the …’, ‘it __ of the …’, etc. For each VAC, we compared these results with corpus analyses of verb selection preferences in 100 million words of usage and with the semantic network structure of the verbs in these VACs. For all language groups, multiple regression analyses predicting the frequencies of verb types generated for each VAC show independent contributions of (i) verb frequency in the VAC, (ii) VAC-verb contingency, and (iii) verb prototypicality in terms of centrality within the VAC semantic network. L2 VAC processing involves rich associations, tuned by verb type and token frequencies and their contingencies of usage, which interface syntax, lexis, and semantics.

AbstractWe used free association and verbal fluency tasks to investigate verb-argument constructions (VACs) and the ways in which their processing is sensitive to statistical patterns of usage (verb type-token frequency distribution, VAC-verb contingency, verb-VAC semantic prototypicality). In experiment 1, 285 native speakers of English generated the first word that came to mind to fill the V slot in 40 sparse VAC frames such as `he ____ across the. . . .', `it ____ of the. . . .', etc. In experiment 2, 40 English speakers generated as many verbs that fit each frame as they could think of in a minute. For each VAC, we compared the results from the experiments with corpus analyses of verb selection preferences in 100 million words of usage and with the semantic network structure of the verbs in these VACs. For both experiments, multiple regression analyses predicting the frequencies of verb types generated for each VAC show independent contributions of (i) verb frequency in the VAC, (ii) VAC-verb contingency and (iii) verb prototypicality in terms of centrality within the VAC semantic network. VAC processing involves rich associations, tuned by verb type and token frequencies and their contingencies of usage, which interface syntax, lexis and semantics. We consider the implications for the mental representation of VACs.

Abstract:
The number of possible word forms in agglutinative languages is theoretically unlimited. This, in turn, creates the problem of POS tagging (part-of-speech) of out-of-vocabulary (OOV) words in agglutinative lan-guages. In agglutinative languages, words are formed by combining stems and suffixes. Because phonetic harmony and disharmony occur when suf-fixes are added to the root, it is necessary to analyze both phonetic and morphological changes. When solving many NLP tasks, it is necessary to reduce word forms to their root (stemming). Removing all inflectional affixes from a word and lemmatizing the rest of the word is considered one of the important tasks of natural language processing (NLP), and this process is called stemming. The stemming process is important in infor-mation retrieval (IR) systems.

Abstract:
Abstract The experience of some 500 Canadian and Newfoundland women who served overseas as Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) nurses during the Great War has been eclipsed by the British record. Sent as auxiliary assistants to trained nurses in the military hospitals, Canadian VADs confronted a complex mix of emotional, physical, and intellectual challenges, including their “colonial” status. As casually trained, inexperienced amateurs in an unfamiliar, highly structured hospital culture, they were often resented by the overworked and undervalued trained nurses, whose struggle for professional recognition was necessarily abandoned during the crisis of war. The frequently intimate physical needs of critically ill soldiers also demanded a rationalisation of the VAD's role as “nurse” within a maternalist framework that eased social tensions for both VAD and patient. As volunteers assisting paid practitioners, the Canadian VAD experience offers new insights into a critical era of women's developing professional identities.

Abstract:
Recent evidence indicates that acoustic features associated with emotional prosody in speech may be an inexpensive, non-invasive method for differentiating among dementia types. In particular, frequency measures in the speech of people with dementia have been associated with listeners’ perception of emotional prosody. The purpose of this study was to determine if second formant (F2) transition information would enhance these differentiations. Prerecorded speech samples of Cookie Theft picture descriptions from 10 individuals with dementia of the Alzheimer’s type (DAT), 5 with vascular dementia (VaD), 9 with MCI, and 10 neurologically healthy controls (NHC) were obtained from the DementiaBank. Nine words that had initial obstruent consonants that occurred at least two times in each of the participant groups were selected for measurement. The F2 durations, extents, and slope were measured and analyzed. Across group comparisons revealed no pattern for F2 durations or extents. The fricatives had longer F2 durations than the plosives. Across word comparisons revealed significant differences across the consonant vowel combinations for all three measures. A group by word interaction occurred for the F2 slope with the VaD group exhibiting larger slopes than the other two groups.

Abstract:
In Moksha, methods of experimental phonetics have not been systematically used to study prosody. Fragmentary data available on stress, which were based on durational measurements in Mid-Vad, show that duration might be an important stress correlate. This article treats the relationship between stress and duration in Mid-Vad by using sets of measurement data. It focuses on vowel durations measured in mono-, di-, and trisyllabic words of different structure, which were read in a frame sentence by two speakers. Vowel durations were found to depend on stress – vowels in stressed syllables were longer than in unstressed syllables. Variation was related to word structure – e.g. high vowels (having lower intrinsic duration than low and mid vowels) under stress were as long as unstressed low and mid vowels. The results are useful for the development of prosody research in Moksha

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to reflect the semantics of the names of different nationalities in the perception of modern society. For this purpose, the article’s author created a survey and asked users of various social networks (Twitter.com, Facebook.com, Draugiem.lv) to participate from February 1st to 9th, 2022. The questionnaire was filled by 419 respondents, of whom 305 were women, and 114 were men. The respondents were Latvians living in Latvia or abroad. The respondents had to evaluate 15 different concepts to assess whether the connotation (a feeling or idea that is suggested by a particular word, although it need not be a part of the word’s meaning, or something suggested by an object or situation) of their messages was positive, neutral, negative or difficult to determine. The article looks at 8 of the 15 presented concepts: žīds, ebrejs, nēģeris, melnādainais, čigāns, roms, krievs, krievvalodīgais. The object of research is the data obtained in the questionnaire. The method of data analysis used is quantitative content analysis. Although nowadays, Latvian linguists have indicated that the term nēģeris does not have a negative connotation, half of the respondents believe that this term has a negative message. Even though the term žīds has not had a negative connotation in the past, 71 % of respondents indicated that it has a negative connotation.

Abstract:
Objective: Whether other agents added to venetoclax (VEN) plus hypomethylating agents (HMA) regimen could overcome the negative impact of genetic patterns on response in patients with relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukemia (RR-AML) remains unclear. Aim of this study was to evaluate whether homoharringtonine (HHT) added to VEN plus azacitidine (AZA) regimen could improve the response and overcome the negative impact of genetic patterns in patients with RR-AML . Methods: A multi-center, cohort study of the response and the genetic patterns of response of VEN plus AZA and HHT (VAH) versus VEN plus AZA (VA) regimens as salvage treatment in the patients with RR-AML was performed. Patients were enrolled from four studies from October 2018 to December 2022 at nine medical centers in china. Results: A total of 321 patients were analyzed, including 150 females and 171 males, with a median age at 46 (IQR, 35-61) years. There were 172 patients in the VAH and 149 in the VA group. VAH significantly improved CRc rate (66.3% vs. 44.3%, P<0.001) and prolonged OS (median OS, not reach vs. 14.3 months, P=0.004), to compared with VA. Multivariate analysis showed that VAH was the independently protective factor for CRc and survival. In addition, VAH significantly overcame the negative impact of FLT3-ITD/TKD, N/KRAS, TET2, DNMT3A mutations, and t(8;21)/AML1-ETO, as well as non-adverse ELN risk, also apparently in adverse ELN risk or complex karyotype, on the response of VA regimen. Conclusion: The impact of genetic patterns on the response presented diversely in different VEN-based regimens. HHT added to VA regimen might improve the response and overcome the negative impact of part genetic patterns in RR-AML. Abstract:
BackgroundThe study aims to examine whether cognitive deficits are different between patients with early stage Alzheimer's disease (AD) and patients with early stage vascular dementia (VaD) using the Korean version of the CERAD neuropsychological battery (CERAD-K-N).MethodsPatients with early stage dementia, global Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) 0.5 or 1 were consecutively recruited among first visitors to a dementia clinic, 257 AD patients and 90 VaD patients completed the protocol of the Korean version of the CERAD clinical assessment battery. CERAD-K-N was administered for the comprehensive evaluation of the neuropsychological function.ResultsOf the total 347 participants, 257 (69.1%) were AD group (CDR 0.5 = 66.9%) and 90 (21.9%) were VaD group (CDR 0.5 = 40.0%). Patients with very mild AD showed poorer performances in Boston naming test (BNT) (P = 0.028), word list memory test (P < 0.001), word list recall test (P < 0.001) and word list recognition test (WLRcT) (P = 0.006) than very mild VaD after adjustment of T score of MMSE-KC. However, the performance of trail making A (TMA) was more impaired in VaD group than in AD group. The performance of WLRcT (P < 0.001) was the worst among neuropsychological tests within AD group, whereas TMA was performed worst within VaD group.ConclusionsPatients with early-stage AD have more cognitive deficits on memory and language while patients with early-stage VaD show worse cognitive function on attention/processing speed. In addition, as the first cognitive deficit, memory dysfunction comes in AD and deficit in attention/processing speed in VaD.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:
Objective Although the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) scale was originally developed to stage Alzheimer’s dementia (AD), it is now used globally for various types of dementia. The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristic pattern of CDR domains and its association with neuropsychological findings and activities of daily living (ADL) in patients with vascular dementia (VaD) and patients with AD.Methods We recruited very mild to mild VaD and AD patients who were age-matched among the first visitors to a dementia clinic. All subjects underwent a standardized clinical interview, physical and neurological examinations, and laboratory tests, including brain magnetic resonance imaging, according to the protocol of the Korean version of the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer’s Disease assessment battery. Results A total of 105 pairs of VaD and AD patients participated in this study. Although the adjusted scores on Korean version of the Mini-Mental State Examination were similar between the two groups, the VaD patients performed better on the Boston Naming Test, Word List Memory, Word List Recall, Word List Recognition, and Constructional Recall Test. However, the scores on global CDR, CDR sum of boxes, and ADL-related CDR domains were higher in VaD patients than in AD patients (p<0.001). The VaD patients also showed poor performances on the Disability Assessment for Dementia Scale, Frontal Assessment Battery, Executive Clock Drawing Task, and Stroop tests. Conclusion Despite similar general cognitive function and better memory function, patients with VaD tend to be staged as severer dementia on the CDR scale than patients with AD because of more impaired ADL associated with executive dysfunction.

Abstract:
Abstract The origin of the Dutch word BargoensNo definitive light has yet been shed on the origin of the Dutch word Bargoens. Etymological dictionaries present two explanations as the most probable provenance: one suggests that Bargoens is derived from Bourgondisch, the other that it is a borrowing from Fr. baragouin ‘incomprehensible language’, which is itself from the Breton bara gwin ‘bread, wine’, the Breton language being incomprehensible to the French. The present article rejects both these explanations and proposes a new one, based mainly on the many written variants of Bargoens and its synonym Brigade. Additional support for this claim is found in the origin of Gargoens and Arragoens, the meaning and form of which are related to Bargoens. Via its variant Bragoens the word Bargoens can be connected to the verbal stem brag.

Abstract:
»Time must show what Truth is« Grundtvig ’s Ethics of TruthBy Tord EhnevidIn 1969, at the University of Lund, I defended a doctoral thesis entitled Congregation Ethics, in which the views of Grundtvig, Morten Pontoppidan and Einar Billing were compared. Billing emphasized the sowing of the Gospel through the forgiveness of sins, Pontoppidan its harvest through »the great feeling of humanity«, and Grundtvig its growth in the congregation. But Grundtvig’s ethics seemed obscure to me which is why I continued my research into his published writings. After some years I finished the work which I called Grundtvig’s Ethics of Truth. Not until now has it been made ready for publication. The concept of growth in Grundtvig is connected with the concept of time. This is easily explained since Grundtvig took an early interest in the Northmen’s image of time, namely the ash Ygdrasil. Time grows in history from the morning of Creation. In Paradise grows the tree of life, the symbol of love, and the tree of knowledge, the symbol of truth. Through the Fall of man both love and truth are obscured for mankind, who becomes divided in two, women (love) and man (truth). In the fullness of time, God sends his son. He is the way, the truth, and the life. The Church, the work of the Holy Spirit, gathers people on to the way of truth towards the end of time, or to put it differently, on to the way of light towards eternal life. There we shall see God face to face.Another image of time is the sea with its changeability. This gives Grundtvig a place for the idea of man’s life as a look in a mirror, a riddle (l.Cor. 13), Is it the sea that is mirrored in the sky, or is it the sky that is mirrored in the sea?A third image of time is the beehive or the bell jar. People cannot get outside time, but poets and prophets may »swarm« and lead people’s thoughts and emotions outside time in words and images. The imagery is oral, living and warm. The sign of time is man as bearer of the word. The obscurity that envelops life thus becomes a riddle of the word, a riddle of man. To Grundtvig ethics is a logic of action, a chronologic. Here, too, time comes in as decisive. Time does not suffice as proof. Instead evidence is required. The proof of truth is in the evidence, the martyrdom. St. Stephen is »the bright Christ mirror«. He burned with zeal for God’s truth and with love for his fellow men. The ethics is connected to the eighth commandment. The deeds of the hand may easily lead to selfish pride. In the confession of faith the congregation may bear witness to God in common in the mother tongue. What truth is, time will show. » 0 send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles« (Psalms 43, 3).

Abstract:
Affect conveys important implicit information in human communication. Having the capability to correctly express affect during human-machine conversations is one of the major milestones in artificial intelligence. In recent years, extensive research on open-domain neural conversational models has been conducted. However, embedding affect into such models is still under explored. In this paper, we propose an endto-end affect-rich open-domain neural conversational model that produces responses not only appropriate in syntax and semantics, but also with rich affect. Our model extends the Seq2Seq model and adopts VAD (Valence, Arousal and Dominance) affective notations to embed each word with affects. In addition, our model considers the effect of negators and intensifiers via a novel affective attention mechanism, which biases attention towards affect-rich words in input sentences. Lastly, we train our model with an affect-incorporated objective function to encourage the generation of affect-rich words in the output responses. Evaluations based on both perplexity and human evaluations show that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art baseline model of comparable size in producing natural and affect-rich responses.

Abstract:
Abstract Objective Studies that have used semantic fluency tasks to guide differential diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (ad) and vascular dementia (VaD) typically only examine the total number of words produced, which has yielded conflicting results. The present study examined whether other indices of semantic fluency (i.e., clustering and switching), which are thought to better isolate the components of semantic memory and executive functioning abilities, would discriminate among ad, VaD, and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Method A retrospective sample of 156 patients (mean age = 78.64; 76.3% female, 23.7% male; 26.9% White, 71.2% Black, 1.9% Other) who completed a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation as part of a workup related to memory concerns and were diagnosed with ad, VaD, or MCI was utilized. Separate univariate analyses of variance were used to examine group differences on three indices of semantic fluency (animals): total words, mean cluster size, and number of switches. Results There was a significant main effect of group for total words [F(2,153) = 7.09, p = 0.001], mean cluster size [F(2, 153) = 3.44, p = 0.035] and number of switches [F(2,153) = 3.36, p = 0.037]. Bonferroni post-hoc tests revealed that the ad and VaD groups produced significantly fewer total words than the MCI group, the ad group produced significantly smaller clusters than the VaD group, and the VaD group produced significantly fewer switches than the MCI group. Conclusion Observed group differences suggest that clustering and switching may aid in discriminating between dementia etiologies. Future studies may benefit from examining the association between these fluency indices and performance on executive functioning and semantic knowledge tasks to better understand these findings.

Abstract:
abstractThis paper discusses how patterns of construction usage, implicitly learned over lifelong experience, tune the language processing system for fluent interactive lexical, syntactic, and semantic access. It reports on three experiments that investigate online processing of Verb–Argument Constructions (VACs) and the degree to which this is effected by (i) verb frequency in the language, (ii) verb frequency in the VAC, (iii) VAC-verb contingency, and (iv) verb prototypicality in terms of centrality within the VAC semantic network. Experiment 1 tested lexical decision of VAC exemplars presented as successive verb–preposition pairs. Experiment 2 tested lexical decision of VAC exemplars presented as arbitrarily interrupted verb–adverb–preposition pairs. Experiment 3 had participants judge whether two-word utterances were meaningful or not. All of the experiments show effects of Verb Frequency and Verb-VAC frequency: learners have rich implicit statistical knowledge of verb-VAC type–token frequency that guides processing. Lexical decision is additionally driven by semantic prototypicality (but not VAC-verb contingency ΔPcw), whereas meaning judgment is affected by VAC-verb contingency ΔPcw (but not semantic prototypicality). These findings, I argue, index the spreading activation of unconscious meaning representation in lexical decision in comparison to the election of a unitary interpretation in conscious comprehension. I conclude that speeded automatic VAC processing involves rich associations, tuned by verb type and token frequencies, their contingencies of usage, and their histories of prototypical and specific interpretations which interface syntax, lexis, and semantics.

Abstract:
Background: The number of waitlisted patients requiring mechanical circulatory support (MCS) as a bridge to heart transplantation is increasing. The data concerning the results of the double-bridge strategy are limited. We sought to investigate the post-transplant outcomes across the different bridge strategies. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed a heart transplantation database from Jan 2009 to Jan 2019. Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and ventricular assist devices (VAD) were the MCS that we investigated. The pre- and post-transplant characteristics and variables of patients bridged with the different types of MCS were collected. The post-transplant survival was compared using Kaplan–Meier survival analysis. Results: A total of 251 heart transplants were reviewed; 115 without MCS and 136 with MCS. The patients were divided to five groups: Group 1 (no MCS): n = 115; Group 2 (IABP): n = 15; Group 3 (ECMO): n = 33; Group 4 (ECMO-VAD): double-bridge (n = 59); Group 5 (VAD): n = 29. Survival analysis demonstrated that the 3-year post-transplant survival rates were significantly different among the groups (Log-rank p < 0.001). There was no difference in survival between group 4(ECMO-VAD) and group 1(no MCS)1 (p = 0.136), or between group 4(ECMO-VAD) and group 5(VAD) (p = 0.994). Group 3(ECMO) had significantly inferior 3-year survival than group 4(ECMO-VAD) and group 5(VAD). Conclusion: Double bridge may not lead to worse mid-term results in patients who could receive a transplantation. Initial stabilization with ECMO for critical patients before implantation of VAD might be considered as a strategy for obtaining an optimal post-transplant outcome.

Abstract:
The problem of professional training of the future music teacher in the lessons of voice production is considered and vocal and technical techniques are proposed, which are used by the author of the Sttudy in practical work with Students. Adhering to the vocal-pedagogical principles of Professor OStap Darchuk from the Lviv Vocal School, where the author received training, and utilizing his advice, the article emphasizes the significance of musical-vocal reading based on linguiStic support, on the “character of sound” in the resonance point, and in a specific rhythm and tempo. Such reading helps develop a clear, articulate diction in the singer – the future music teacher – promoting uniformity in voice production, good projection, and the agility of sound. In doing so, the aim is to Strive for the moSt complete conveyance of the meaning of each word and the overall content of the piece. Musicalvocal declamation is also employed – a technical approach to the vocal-creative pronunciation of words with all their grammatical and logical accents, expressing the emotions contained in them. The article emphasizes the importance of underStanding the role of breathing in voice production, maStering basic types of breathing exercises (speaking, reciting poems, delivering speeches, etc.). A series of exercises for “breathing gymnaStics” is proposed in the work. Therefore, summarizing the material presented above, it is worth noting that the main goal of this article is to highlight certain vocal-technical techniques that collectively form the methodology for developing the voice of future music teachers. Since the process of shaping the elements of pedagogical maStery in a music teacher occurs gradually and takes into account the individual approach to each Student, the techniques should be selected based on what can be moSt beneficial at each Stage of the Student’s education and upbringing. Therefore, the research focuses on revealing techniques that can be recommended for work at the initial Stage of building the vocal apparatus of the Student. The proposed techniques, as described by the article’s author, are widely applied in her pedagogical work in educating future music teachers.

Abstract:
This paper introduces a novel approach for topic modeling utilizing latent codebooks from Vector-Quantized Variational Auto-Encoder~(VQ-VAE), discretely encapsulating the rich information of the pre-trained embeddings such as the pre-trained language model. From the novel interpretation of the latent codebooks and embeddings as conceptual bag-of-words, we propose a new generative topic model called Topic-VQ-VAE~(TVQ-VAE) which inversely generates the original documents related to the respective latent codebook. The TVQ-VAE can visualize the topics with various generative distributions including the traditional BoW distribution and the autoregressive image generation. Our experimental results on document analysis and image generation demonstrate that TVQ-VAE effectively captures the topic context which reveals the underlying structures of the dataset and supports flexible forms of document generation. Official implementation of the proposed TVQ-VAE is available at https://github.com/clovaai/TVQ-VAE.

Abstract:
Vascular dementia (VaD) is the second most frequent dementia after Alzheimer?s disease, and is diagnosed during lifetime in 20% of demented patients. Five?year survival rate in VaD is 39%, while it is estimated to be 75% in healthy persons of the same age. It is therefore important to make correct diagnosis of VaD early in the course of the disease. Risk factors for VaD are identical to stroke risk factors, and there are significant possibilities for the prevention of vascular cognitive decline. Cognitive decline develops acutely or step?by?step within three months after stroke, but more gradual progression of intellectual decline is also possible. Neurological examination can reveal pyramidal and extrapyramidal signs, pseudobulbar palsy, gait disturbance and urinary incontinence. Neuropsychological profile comprises the loss of cognitive set shifting, decline in word fluency, verbal learning difficulties, perseverations, difficulties in complex figure copying, and in patients with cortically located lesions also problems with speech and praxia. The basis of the diagnosis is, besides history, neurological examination and neuropsychological assessment, computed tomography and/ or magnetic resonance brain imaging. Vascular risk factors control is the most important measure in VaD prevention. Modern guidelines for the treatment of cognitive decline in VaD emphasize that donepezil can be useful in the improvement of cognitive status at the level of Class IIa recommendation at the level of evidence A, while memantine may be useful in patients with mixed VaD and Alzheimer?s disease dementia.

According to Kaldor Hypothesis, the growth of the GDP is related to the growth of the manufacturing sector. Kaldor claims that the productivity of the manufacturing sector is positively related the growth of the manufacturing sector and labour force transfer from agriculture and like other sector which marginal productivity of labour force is lower than average productivity level to manufacturing sector under Industrial growth model, and by increasing labour force productivity, it leads to increase production, in other word, GDP. In the study, for Turkey, this relationship between growth and manufacturing production, under Kaldor’s first law of growth, is considered by VAR analysis and with quarterly data between 2007 and 2021. As expected, there are positive relationship between industrial production and growth. It means that industrial production leads to economic growth. However, it is not seen any causality relationship from growth to industrial production. One direction positive relationship from industrial production to growth is confirmed by Granger causality test. As known, while impulse-response functions indicate the serials response direct to any shock(s), variance decomposition indicates how total changes are share relatively by serials during periods. According to analysis, it can be claimed that any transfer can take 1 year on explaining total changes between serials. Abstract:
PurposeThis paper proposes an approach to identify categorical influencers (i.e. influencers is the person who is active in the targeted categories) in social media channels. Categorical influencers are important for media marketing but to automatically detect them remains a challenge.Design/methodology/approachWe deployed the emerging deep learning approaches. Precisely, we used word embedding to encode semantic information of words occurring in the common microtext of social media and used variational autoencoder (VAE) to approximate the topic modeling process, through which the active categories of influencers are automatically detected. We developed a system known as Categorical Influencer Detection (CID) to realize those ideas.FindingsThe approach of using VAE to simulate the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) process can effectively handle the task of topic modeling on the vast dataset of microtext on social media channels.Research limitations/implicationsThis work has two major contributions. The first one is the detection of topics on microtexts using deep learning approach. The second is the identification of categorical influencers in social media.Practical implicationsThis work can help brands to do digital marketing on social media effectively by approaching appropriate influencers. A real case study is given to illustrate it.Originality/valueIn this paper, we discuss an approach to automatically identify the active categories of influencers by performing topic detection from the microtext related to the influencers in social media channels. To do so, we use deep learning to approximate the topic modeling process of the conventional approaches (such as LDA).

AbstractBased on writing produced by second language learners at different proficiency levels (CEFR A1 to C1), we adopted a usage-based approach (Ellis, Römer, & O’Donnell, 2016; Tyler & Ortega, 2018) to investigate how German and Spanish learner knowledge of 19 English verb-argument constructions (VACs; e.g., “V with n,” illustrated by he always agrees with her) develops. We extracted VACs from subsets of the Education First-Cambridge Open Language Database, altogether comprising more than 68,000 texts and 6 million words. For each VAC, L1 learner group, and proficiency level, we determined type and token frequencies, as well as the most dominant verb-VAC associations. To study effects of proficiency and L1 on VAC production, we carried out correlation analyses to compare verb-VAC associations of learners at different levels and different L1 backgrounds. We also correlated each learner dataset with comparable data from a large reference corpus of native English usage. Results indicate that with increasing proficiency, learners expand their VAC repertoire and productivity, and verb-VAC associations move closer to native usage.

Abstract:
Halobacterium halobium contains two gas vacuole protein genes that are located in plasmid pHH1 (p-vac) and in the chromosomal DNA (c-vac). The mutation frequency for these genes is different: the constitutively expressed p-vac gene is mutated with a frequency of 10−2, while the chromosomal gene expressed in the stationary phase of growth is mutated with a frequency of 10−5. The difference in the mutation susceptibility is due to the dynamics of plasmid pHH1. p-vac gene mutations are caused (i) by the integration of an insertion element or (ii) by a deletion event encompassing the p-vac gene region. In contrast, c-vac mutants analyzed to date incurred neither insertion elements nor deletions. Deletion events within pHH1 occur at high frequencies during the development of a H. halobium culture. The investigation of the fusion regions resulting from deletion events indicates that insertion elements are involved. The analysis of pHH1 deletion variants led to a 4 kilobase pair DNA region containing the origin of replication of the pHH1 plasmid.Key words: gas vacuole protein gene, plasmid dynamics, deletions, insertion elements.

Abstract:
Aim: Despite huge efforts in developing specific drugs, vaccination represents the only effective strategy against COVID-19. Efficacy and safety of the COVID-19 vaccines were established during clinical trials. Nonetheless, it is very important to perform continuous surveillance. This observational study aimed to report potential Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) following the first dose of two different COVID-19 vaccines, BNT162b2 and AZD1222. Methods and Results: Subjects who underwent vaccination at the vaccine center of the University Hospital of Salerno, Italy, were interviewed using an ad hoc questionnaire. AZD-vac group (n = 175) who received AZD1222 had a higher number of AEFI than the BNT-vac group (n = 1613) who received BNT162b2 (83% vs. 42%). The most frequent AEFI associated with AZD1222 and BNT162b2 were fever and pain at the injection site, respectively. The AZD-vac group used drugs to contrast AEFI more frequently than the BNT-vac group. In the BNT-vac group, there was a higher incidence of AEFI in women than in men (26.2% vs. 15.8%, p = 0.01), while no gender-related difference was observed in the AZD-vac group. Conclusions: AZD1222 and BNT162b2 vaccines show a good safety profile. Based on our results and literature data, there are no reasons to justify the reluctance that persists towards immunization.

Abstract:
The contrafactum-practice which utilises secular melodies and/or texts as sources in the creation of sacred hymns, is an age-old tradition. This practice generated amongst others a few Protestant hymns (particularly in the German Reformed context), which are viewed today as important hymns in the hymn corpus. One example would be the hymn for lent, “Herzlich tut mich verlangen”. In several historic sources the use of secular melodies in church hymns is motivated: the fact that the melodies are already well-known amongst the congregation would make it easy to learn the new texts. Sources also confirm that this practice makes the songs more accessible for the youth. This article explores the development of selected hymns from the Liedboek van die Kerk (2001) (“Afrikaans Hymn book of the Church”) to determine their secular roots and describe how they developed into sacred hymns. It is pointed out that the utilisation of the melodies as settings for different sacred texts, illustrates their quality and flexibility and is instrumental in their acceptance as hymn tunes. It is also argued that historic distance between the secular source and the church hymn contributes to the weakening of the original secular association. The ongoing debate on the secular versus the sacred is also touched upon, and finally the renewed interest in contrafacta in the late 20th and early 21st century is discussed.
