This study is inserted in didactics fields and its main objective is to analyze the contributions of the theory of developmental education for the formation of theoretical thinking in teaching, of the students who attend the Education-Degree Course in a private educational institution from Barra do Garças-MT, and prepare to be teachers in early childhood education and early years of elementary school. The theoretical framework which guided the study was based on Vygotsky s historical-cultural theory, Leontiev s activity theory and Davidov s developmental education theory, and other authors like Chaiklin, Lompscher, Hedegaard, among others who conduct research, at different levels of education, in order to think of an education that helps students to develop a thought which exceeds that of formal logic. The qualitative research had as its procedures data collection, observation, interviews, document analysis and the achievement of a didactic-formative experiment. The observation made during the pedagogical week at the institution, and, more specifically, the investigated classroom, helped to understand what and how teachers and students think about the teaching and learning. The interviews with teachers and students directly involved with the research revealed important data about the didactic, especially in the case of a training course for teachers. The reading of the Institutional Development Plan revealed the political, administrative and educational intentions of the institution, as for the analysis of the Political Pedagogical Project from the Pedagogy Course helped especially in understanding the curriculum structure and course rules. The formative-teaching experiment developed with the students from the fourth semester of Pedagogy followed the structure of learning activity proposed by Davívov in which different actions, operations and tasks were planned for each of the different concepts that are considered necessary for the internalization, appropriation and reproduction of the essential in teaching, in this study, the teaching process. The analysis of the survey revealed that teachers, mostly blame the students for not learning enough and exempt themselves from the responsibilities of rethinking in a better form to organize the process, which is predominantly transmissive and it is based on the conception of a formal logic. Students, in turn, tend to accept well this teaching practice and hardly put themselves as active citizens in their learning process. If, on one hand, there is an academic background which results in a different conception of teaching, on the other hand, the implementation of a formative- educational experiment shows that there are real opportunities to develop students cognitive thinking. For this reason, the teaching activities should start from a theoretical logic, i.e., from general to particular, from the collective to the individual, from abstract to concrete, designed in order to enable students to form the theoretical thought which is essential to the development of cognitive thinking.
Este estudo insere-se no campo da didática e tem como principal objetivo analisar as contribuições da teoria do ensino desenvolvimental para a formação do pensamento teórico, em didática, dos alunos que frequentam o Curso de Pedagogia-Licenciatura, em uma instituição de ensino privada de Barra do Garças-MT, e se preparam para ser professores na educação infantil e anos iniciais do ensino fundamental. A fundamentação teórica que norteou o estudo pautou-se na teoria histórico-cultural de Vygotsky, na teoria da atividade de Leontiev e na teoria do ensino desenvolvimental de Davídov., além de outros autores como Chaiklin, Lompscher, Hedegaard entre outros que realizam pesquisas, em diferentes níveis de ensino, com o objetivo de pensar em um ensino que ajude os alunos a desenvolver um pensamento que supere o da lógica formal. A pesquisa de natureza qualitativa teve como procedimentos de coleta de dados a observação, a entrevista, a análise documental e a realização do experimento didático-formativo. A observação realizada durante a semana pedagógica, na instituição, e, mais especificamente, na turma investigada, ajudou a compreender o que e como pensam os docentes e discentes em relação ao ensino e à aprendizagem. As entrevistas com as professoras e alunas diretamente envolvidas com a pesquisa revelaram dados importantes a respeito da didática, principalmente tratando-se de um curso de formação de professores. A leitura do Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional revelou as intenções políticas, administrativas e pedagógicas da instituição, já a análise do Projeto Político Pedagógico do Curso de Pedagogia auxiliou na compreensão, principalmente da estrutura curricular do curso e das ementas. O experimento didático-formativo desenvolvido com as alunas do IV semestre do Curso de Pedagogia seguiu a estrutura da atividade de aprendizagem proposta por Davívov, na qual foram planejadas diferentes ações, operações e tarefas para cada um dos diferentes conceitos que se julgou necessário para a interiorização, apropriação e reprodução do essencial da didática, neste estudo, o processo de ensino. A análise da pesquisa revelou que os professores, em sua maioria, responsabilizam os alunos pela pouca aprendizagem e se isentam das responsabilidades de repensar uma melhor forma de organizar o processo, que é predominantemente transmissivo e se fundamenta na concepção da lógica formal. Os alunos, por sua vez, tendem a aceitar bem essa prática de ensino e dificilmente se colocam como sujeitos ativos em seu processo de aprendizagem. Se, de um lado, se tem uma formação acadêmica que resulte numa outra concepção de ensino, de outro, a realização do experimento didático-formativo mostra que existem possibilidades concretas de desenvolver o pensamento cognitivo dos alunos. Para isso, as atividades de ensino devem partir de uma lógica teórica, ou seja, do geral para o particular, do coletivo para o individual, do abstrato ao concreto pensado a fim de que os alunos formem o pensamento teórico imprescindível ao desenvolvimento do pensamente cognitivo.

Abstract:
This essay is in three parts. Each part, or short essay, deals with a novel that has a collection of poetry appended to it. The novels are 'Big Sur' by Jack Kerouac, 'How to Save Your Own Life' by Erica Jong, and 'V.T.' by Philip Lee. In the short essays I explore some of the relationships between the poetry and prose in the novels, and touch on how the authors present themselves by the inclusion of poetry, ostensibly written by them. Note on why I've chosen to include essays on 'Big Sur' and 'How to Save Your Own Life': I've been a fan of Kerouac since my late teens, and Jong since my early twenties (I was born in 1956). Specifically, I've admired Kerouac for his depiction of men in search of a purpose in life, and Jong for her depiction of heterosexually active feminist women. The combination could be explosive, like tossing ice cubes into a hot chip pan. My novel, in a somewhat safe (ie sealed) historical setting, is only a first attempt at bringing these two important strands of literary endeavour together.

The aim of this work is to design a microprocessor-controlled multimode VHF radio can receive AM, FM and DAB. The first step is to become familiar with digital radio broadcasting DAB and RDS. Then we can proceed to the design of the receiver circuit solution using modern component base. Next it is necessary to write utility software and construct a prototype of receiver, verify its functionality and parameters. The result of the work is the multi-mode VHF broadcasting receiver controlled using touch screen display and supported by web management.

A tunable vacuum ultra-violet (VUV) laser source was recently developed for VUV spectroscopy using state selective excitation and total fluorescence detection. The VUV laser source makes use of a four-wave mixing process to provide tunable VUV radiation for the electronic excitation of the molecules. The theory of four-wave mixing, with the emphasis on parameters that are important for our experimental setup to generate efficient tunable VUV radiation is discussed. The experimental setup, and in particular the metal vapor heat-pipe, which provides Mg vapor as the nonlinear medium, is described. New diagnostic equipment described in this work was added to the experimental setup. This equipment was characterized and utilized together with the existing setup. The additional diagnostic equipment introduced enabled us to measure the tunable VUV output of the source (using a VUV monochromator), making it possible to significantly improve the efficiency of the existing tunable VUV laser source.

Antennas are essential components in any wireless communication system. To evaluate them is challenging, especially when new technologies are emerging. Future intelligent transport systems, where vehicular communications play an important role will cover important aspects such as traffic safety and traffic efficiency. These applications will be covered by technologies such as IEEE 802.11p and LTE. For these emerging technologies, traditional methods for measuring the vehicular antennas such as anechoic chamber measurements or expensive and time-consuming field measurements may not be enough or suitable. Thus a new method for evaluating the antennas performance is desirable. A method that includes the multipath environment to give an idea of the antenna performance in the whole system and at the same time be able to be applied at early stages of product development. This thesis aims to provide such method. The thesis is divided in two parts. The first part contains an overview and background of important concepts needed for development of methods for evaluation of vehicular antennas. In the second part, the papers that constitute the core of this work are appended. In Paper A, we evaluate the vehicle’s antenna performance using only simulations. We start by defining the multipath environment for vehicle-tovehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communication. Then, the V2X environment is simulated using a multipath simulation tool to evaluate the vehicle’s antennas radiation patterns placed at different positions on the vehicle. This will result in the received power cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) for the voltage samples at the receiving antennas port. In Paper B, we present the design and evaluation of an antenna module for IEEE 802.11p and LTE technologies. The module is designed taking into consideration the available space and suitable placement on the vehicle. The proposed module is in accordance with the requirements for LTE and IEEE 802.11p technologies. This is validated with the analysis of the antenna efficiencies, S-parameters, radiation patterns, and diversity performance for the simulated and measured antenna module. Finally, Paper C presents a method for the evaluation of V2V antennas in a simulated measurement-based multipath environment. Here, a measurement campaign is performed to obtain the parameters (i.e., the angular received power spectrum) that define a realistic V2V multipath environment. These parameters are then introduced in a multipath simulation tool where the antennas radiation patterns are evaluated. Results are expressed in terms of received power CDFs. This method is validated by comparing the simulated and measured received power for two roof-top vehicle antennas.

Abstract:
VAV (Variable Air Volume) system has been studied in a newly constructed office-building. The goal for the study has been to evaluate how the ventilations system work in practice, if adjustments can be made to achieve an more energy efficient system and to evaluate if other alternative ventilation systems is to be preferred in the further. The degree project has been executed at Helenius Engineering Firm who is working with the environment, media systems, HVAC and energy in buildings. The building that has been studied is owned and operated by Akademiska hus. Literature studies, visits at site, inventory, review of system documentation, energy analyses, interviews, key figures, LCC, sand energy- and indoor climate simulations has been made to study the building. Where appropriate some tools from Six Sigma have also been used. How to achieve an energy efficient system and a pleasant indoor climate is studied with human health and well-being as base for the indoor climate requirements. Technical support systems such as ventilation systems have to be designed so that an acceptable indoor climate can be achieved. The building itself along with the type of activity create prerequisites and limitations in regards to how energy efficient the system can be. In the two first visits which were conducted in the start of the project it appeared that the ventilation system were not functioning as expected. In a later visit, some of the issues were solved and in a recent meeting between Akademiska hus and the tenants, the tenants seemed pleased with the indoor climate. Analyses of service requests statistics, interviews together with cause and effect analyses has revealed that there has been issues with the indoor air quality ant that the rooms has been perceived as to warm or too cold. Some of the causes has been loose sensor cables, reduction of the temperature in the room during absence from people during winter time and short circuit between intake of outdoor air and the outlet of exhaust air on the roof. The building has a low energy consumption compared to key figures presented by Repab. Energy and indoor climate for alternative temperature settings has been simulated in the program IDA and shows that the energy consumption can be reduced. The interviews give a picture that VAV systems are preferred when they are well functioning. But VAV systems have disadvantages such as they are complex and require good knowledge and understanding about the control system from all people concerned. Many components and functions give more opportunities for failures. In comparison with other ventilations systems, VAV according to cost estimates and LCC are the most cost effective ventilations system for offices.
VAV (Variable Air Volume) system har studerats i en nybyggd kontorsfastighet. Målet med arbetet var att ta reda på hur ventilationssystemet fungerar i praktiken, om justeringar kan göras för att uppnå ett mer energieffektivt system samt att utvärdera om alternativa ventilationssystem är att föredra i framtiden. Examensarbetet är utfört hos Helenius Ingenjörsbyrå som arbetar med konsulttjänster inom miljö, mediesystem, VVS och energi. Huset som har studerats ägs och förvaltas av Akademiska hus. Huset har studerats med stöd av litteraturstudier, genom platsbesök, inventering och genomgång av befintlig systemdokumentation, energianalyser, intervjuer med berörda personer, nyckeltalsanalyser, LCC kalkyler samt genom simuleringar i energi- och klimatsimuleringsprogrammet IDA ICE 4. Verktyg från Sex Sigma metodiken har även använts där det har varit lämpligt. Hur ett energieffektivt system och ett behagligt inneklimat kan uppnås har studerats där utgångspunkten är människans hälsa och välbefinnande påverkar krav för inneklimat. Tekniska supportsystem så som ventilationsanläggningar måste vara designade och byggda på ett sådant sätt att ett önskvärt inneklimat kan uppnås. Byggnaden och verksamheten skapar förutsättningar och begränsningar med avseende på energieffektivitet. Vid de två första platsbesöken och intervjuerna som skedde tidigt i arbetet framkom det att ventilationssystem inte har fungerat bra, den bilden förändrades vid uppföljande besök i slutet av arbetet. Direkta fel var då åtgärdade eller arbete pågick och under det senaste mötet Akademiska hus hade med hyresgästerna uppgav de att de var nöjda med inneklimatet. Analys av felanmälningsstatistik, intervjuer tillsammans med orsaksanalys har visat att det framförallt varit problem med kvalitén på luften i rummen samt att rummen uppfattats som varma eller kalla. Några av grundorsakerna har varit att kablar lossnat till givare, frånvarotemperatur under vinterhalvåret, samt kortslutning av avluft och intag av uteluft på taket. Huset har enligt jämförelser med riktvärden från Repab en låg energiförbrukning. Alternativa inställningar av temperaturer har genom simuleringar av energi och inneklimat i programvaran IDA visat att energiförbrukningen kan reduceras. Intervjuer ger en bild av att VAV system är att föredra om de fungerar väl. Nackdelar som finns med VAV system är att de är komplexa, kräver god kunskap och förståelse av systemets styrning från alla berörda samt att de innehåller många komponenter och funktioner vilket medför att det finns många felkällor. I jämförelse med andra system, är VAV systemet enligt de kostnadsuppskattningar och LCC beräkningar som gjorts, det mest kostnadseffektiva ventilationssystemet.

The large scale development of an Intelligent Transportation System is very close. The main component of such a smart environment is the network that provides connectivity for all vehicles. Public safety is the most demanding application because requires a fast, reliable and secure communication. Although IEEE 802.11p is presently the only full wireless standard for vehicular communications, recent advancements in 3GPP LTE provide support to direct communications and the ongoing activities are also addressing the vehicle to vehicle case. This thesis focuses on the resource allocation procedures and performance of LTE-V2V. To this aim, a MATLAB simulator has been implemented and results have been obtained adopting different mobility models for both in-coverage and out-of-coverage scenarios.

Abstract:
The work described in this thesis was aimed at developing a field of expertise in short wavelength lasers within the department of Physics and Astronomy at St. Andrews University. Electrical discharge pumping was selected as the excitation mechanism while the Lyman band of hydrogen was identified as the initial target for the vacuum ultraviolet work. Due to the short upper state lifetime of the laser transition (~0.8ns), fast voltage pulse risetimes and an accurately timed, travelling electrical excitation wave matched to the speed of light in the discharge were required. Initial work succeeded in producing voltage pulses at high repetition rates having leading edges exhibiting risetimes of under 300psec with voltage magnitudes in the 30-40kV regime. This was achieved by designing and building non-linear ferromagnetic shock lines whose purpose was to sharpen the output pulse from a thyratron having a risetime of 40-50ns. Voltage pulse risetime reductions on this magnitude have not been seen previously in the literature by this author. By the accurate timing of the outputs of ten such lines placed in parallel, the travelling electrical excitation wave could be created. Allied to work conducted simultaneously upon flat plate Blumlein driven hydrogen lasers, this culminated in the production and operation of a thyratron driven, sectional longitudinal hydrogen laser capable of high repetition rates. This is the first of its type of which this author is aware. Laser pulse energies of 4.7μJ on the 160nm Lyman band transitions were observed while the only limitation encountered in running the laser at multi-kilohertz repetition rates in burst mode was that imposed by the charging rate of the available power supply. Despite this, 1kHz operation of a hydrogen laser was amply demonstrated for the first time.

After the birth of a child, during the post-partum period, the exercise of fatherhood, the sexual relationships either marital or sexual as well as the definition of the male role are all aspects that can change. These changes are guarded and can contribute to strengthen the familiar bond or deprive it. Thus, this study aims to understand the male experience during the partner s puerperal period. In this period, the male interacts and participates according to his understanding of the post-partum period. The male experiences different situations with his partner, family and social environment. This research is descriptive-exploratory and has a qualitative approach. It was developed with 15 men that live with their live with their partners during the puerperal period. The data was collected through a semi-structured interview. These data was treated according to content analysis proposed by Bardin. These were analyzed through Symbolic Interacionism according to Blumer. Thus, three themes emergedshares of care in the home environment, meanings attributed to the puerperium, emotions emerged during the post-partum - the seven subcategories-taking care of the wife and child, supporting the family, moment to rest, fulfillment through fatherhood, sense of joy, feeling of concern and sense of exclusion. It was seen that the subjects experience post-partum mainly by taking care of their partner and child and providing support of the family. Besides the mentioned aspects, there was meaning attributed to the puerperal period, considering it a period of rest for the partner and above all, fatherhood. Thus, even understanding that it is excluded, the subjects expressed joy and worriness towards the child s future, related to the insecurity in which the country goes through in current conjuncture

L'objectiu d'aquesta tesi ha estat la caracterització de la resposta de les bandes en els números de manera d'alta. Tres experiments separats van ser executats per crear un conjunt de dades de resposta model per a matiners relació de massa realista baixes, i la determinació de les característiques deixant de bandes flexibles sotmesos a vibracions multimode. Es van utilitzar un conjunt de models verticals. Dues bandes llargues 3m van ser fabricats per a aquesta finalitat. Les bandes es classifiquen d'acord a la relació de massa, un model tenia una relació de massa de 2,7, i l'altre tenia relació de massa menor de 1,1. Els models van ser provats en un flux uniforme, amb una velocitat de fins a 2 m / s. Respostes tant en línia i de flux creuat es van mesurar utilitzant calibradors de tensió, i les dades es converteixen en desplaçaments. L'alta relació de pujada massiva indica oscil·lacions fins a quart manera. La resposta de baixa proporció de pujada massiva es va limitar a segon mode de flux creuat. Les contribucions modals es van determinar i es va observar la presència simultània de múltiples maneres en múltiples freqüències. Las bandas se clasifican de acuerdo a la relación de masa, un modelo tenía una relación de masa de 2,7, y el otro tenía relación de masa menor de 1,1. Los modelos fueron probados en un flujo uniforme, con una velocidad de hasta 2 m / s. Respuestas tanto en línea y de flujo cruzado se midieron usando calibradores de tensión, y los datos se convierten en desplazamientos. The objective of this thesis was the characterization of the response of risers at high mode numbers. Three separate experiments were executed to create a set of model response data for realistically low mass ratio risers, and the determination of wake characteristics of flexible risers undergoing multi-mode vibrations. A set of riser models were used. Two 3m long risers were fabricated for this purpose. The risers were categorized according to the mass ratio, one model had a mass ratio of 2.7, and the other had lower mass ratio of 1.1. The models were tested in a uniform flow, with speeds up to 2m/s. Both in-line and cross-flow responses were measured using strain gages, and data was converted to displacements. The high mass ratio riser indicated oscillations up to 4th mode. The low mass ratio riser response was limited to 2nd mode in cross-flow. The modal contributions were determined and simultaneous presence of multiple modes at multiple frequencies were observed. Drag coefficients obtained indicated similarity with the cross-flow oscillation, with values reaching 2.5 for the low mass ratio cylinder. The response of a flexible riser in the wake of a rigid cylinder was determined using different separation distance from the leading cylinder. Significant similarities to those of an isolated flexible cylinder were observed, in form of response regimes at each structural mode of oscillation, with contribution from adjacent modes.

Min kund är ett bageri och kafe vars koncept är att använda sig av lokala och ekologiska råvaror. Konceptet och kafeets befintliga inredning har påverkat min gestaltning. Jag har valt att fokusera på vass som material och skapat en vävd vägg av vass som fungerar som skiljevägg eller väggbonad och som är funktionell och framför allt dekorativ. Genom processen har jag tagit olika val baserade på min vilja att arbeta miljövänligt. A hybrid quantum-classical approach to the interaction of atomic clusters with intense laser fields in the vacuum ultra-violet (VUV) has been developed. Much emphasis is put on localized electrons, those quasi-free electrons which localize about the ions and screen them. These electrons set a time scale, which is used to interpolate between the quantum, rate based description of photon absorption by bound electrons and the classical, deterministic description of the cluster nano-plasma. Typical observables such as total energy absorption, electron and ion spectra are in very good agreement with the experimental findings. A scheme to probe the multi-electron motion in clusters with attosecond laser pulses is introduced. Conventional final state measurements in the energy domain cannot provide information about earlier states of the system due to the incoherent nature of the dynamics. Time-delayed attosecond pulses in the extreme ultra-violet (XUV) are used to probe the transient charging of the cluster ions during the interaction with the laser by measuring the kinetic energy of the electrons detached by the probe pulse. This information is otherwise lost at later times due to recombination. Knowledge about the transient charging would also shed more light on the still controversial subject of the energy absorption mechanisms in the VUV regime. Moving to shorter duration of the excitation, the characteristic time-scales for ionization and plasma equilibration are inversed. An attosecond laser pulse in the VUV regime creates a dense, warm nano-plasma far from equilibrium. Time-delayed attosecond pulses in the XUV probe then both the creation and the relaxation. The latter shows the breakup of the Bogoliubov hierarchy of characteristic times, indicating strongly-coupled plasma dynamics and drawing parallels to the relaxation of extended ultra-cold neutral plasmas with millions of particles.

Resting T lymphocytes are uniquely resistant to VSV even at high multiplicities of infection but they can be rendered fully permissive for VSV replication following in-vitro activation with monoclonal anti-CD3 and PMA with ionomycin. The block to VSV replication is at the level of viral RNA production and is independent of transcription following infection. T lymphocytes must be activated before infection for at least 24 hours to be rendered susceptible to VSV and transcription is an absolute requirement during this process. Fusion of resting and activated T cells results in a resistant cell indicating that the resistant state is dominant. Resting T cells do not produce interferon (IFN) alpha or beta in response to VSV infection whereas activated T cells produce both but have a down modulated response to the antiviral activity of type I IFNs. Gene expression array analysis demonstrates that the interferon response factors, IRF-4 and IRF-8, are up regulated during activation and a number of interferon stimulating genes (ISG), including ISG20, MxA and GBP-1 are down regulated during activation. IRF-4 and IRF-8 have both been described to bind to and inhibit transactivation from the interferon stimulated response elements (ISRE) in the promoters of a number of ISGs and this could explain the down modulated antiviral response to type I IFNs in activated T cells. The IFN-independent constitutive expression of these ISGs in resting T cells is a possible mechanism for their unique resistance to VSV replication.

Titan's VUV photochemistry is studied by laboratory simulation and numerical modeling.In the laboratory simulations, a gas flow of N2/CH4 (90/10) was irradiated by a continuousVUV (60-350 nm) synchrotron beam in a new reactor, named APSIS (Atmospheric Photochemistry SImulated by Synchrotron). The production of C2-C4 hydrocarbons as well as several nitriles is detected by in situ mass spectrometry and ex situ GC-MS of a cryogenic experiment.Our modeling strategy includes the treatment of uncertain parameters. We propose separaterepresentations of the uncertain photolysis cross-sections and branching ratios. This enables to develop a wavelength-dependent model for the branching ratios.Owing to this separation, in the modeling of Titan's atmosphere, we observe specific altitudes where the uncertainty on the photolysis rate constants vanishes. We show that the Ly-α methane photolysis branching ratios of Wang et al. (2000) and the commonly used 100% CH3 hypothesis for out-of-Ly-α ones should be avoided in Titan's photochemical models. A new ion-neutral coupled model was developed for the APSIS experiments. By this model, ion chemistry and in particular dissociative recombination are found to be very important. We identifed three growth families, of which the most unsaturated one, promoted by C2H2, is dominant. This agrees well with the unsaturated production in Titan's upper atmosphere observed by the Cassini INMS, but not with the in situ MS in the APSIS and Imanaka and Smith (2010)'s experiments, whose saturated productions are substantially higher and likely to originate from the catalysis by metallic walls of the reactors.

Onshore and offshore structures are subject of strict safety regulations, and acceptable design implies requirements for accurate models of potentially dangerous phenomena. The phenomenon of Vortex-Induced Vibrations (VIVs) develops when a slender structure interacts with a fluid flow. Vortices grow in the disturbed boundary layer and spread behind the structure, resulting in fluctuations of the fluid forces acting on the body. Slender structures are present almost everywhere in the form of tall buildings and skyscrapers, cranes, antennas, power lines, suspension bridges, umbilicals, risers and free spans of pipelines which deliver water, oil and gas. The deeper in the water and higher in the sky these structures are, more likely they can experience VIVs and the lock-in state due to the exposure to various flow profiles. The wake oscillator method allows to model fluid variables during VIV lock-in using self-excited and self-limited oscillators of Van der Pol or Rayleigh type. In this research, the capabilities of alternative nonlinear oscillators as fluid equations are considered for modelling elastically supported rigid structures with one and two degrees-of-freedom in uniform flow. For modelling two-dimensional flexible structures in uniform and sheared flows, new wake oscillator models are developed in this work and applied with alternative damping terms. The dynamics of the uniform flow model of flexible structure is investigated in detail with the focus on coexisting solutions of the displacement amplitudes. Empirical coefficients for wake oscillator models are calibrated in this study using constrained nonlinear minimization and experimental data available in the literature. The validation performed confirms the most successful results for the suite of models of 2DOF rigid structure for low mass ratio, where agreement with both in-line and cross-flow displacement records was obtained.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: A tunable narrow-bandwidth vacuum ultra violet laser source was developed and characterised. Two-photon resonant four-wave sum-frequency mixing of two pulsed dye laser beams in magnesium vapour was used to generate the VUV laser light. A heat pipe oven with a concentric design was incorporated to provide a magnesium vapour column of around 30 cm in length with a sufficiently stable temperature and appropriate vapour pressure for efficient VUV production. This is a longer nonlinear medium length than previously produced in our laboratory using a crossed heat pipe oven. The longer medium facilitated the production of VUV laser light of higher intensity than was previously obtainable. High resolution laser induced fluorescence spectra of carbon monoxide in a supersonic gas jet was recorded using the tunable VUV laser light produced in the crossed heat pipe oven. Experimental parameters were optimised and adjusted for the selective detection of the forbidden singlet-triplet transitions which typically have longer lifetimes than singlet-singlet transitions. Transitions from the X¹Σ⁺(v = 0) ground state to the e³Σ⁻( v = 5) triplet state were recorded, and accurate wavelength for the spectral lines were determined. Laboratory wavelengths for these lines have not been measured previously. Accurate wavelength for the weak forbidden spectral lines of CO are important in astrophysical applications, for example determining column densities of interstellar gas clouds.

Os objetivos foram compreender quais os grupos a que as jovens pertencem, quais suas viv?ncias significativas, como percebem a condi??o da mulher e que projetos t?m para suas vidas. O m?todo utilizado foi o qualitativo e a coleta de dados feita atrav?s de entrevistas com sete jovens, selecionadas a partir de perfil quantitativo levantado em Banco de Dados da Prefeitura. Os dados foram submetidos ? an?lise textual que gerou as seguintes categorias: os espa?os de pertencimento, em que foram analisados a fam?lia, a escola, a igreja e o lazer; a condi??o de g?nero, em que foram analisados a diferen?a entre meninos e meninas, o companheiro e a maternidade; a viol?ncia, em que foram analisados a viol?ncia social, o ato infracional das jovens e as brigas entre as gurias. A pesquisa constatou que as identidades das jovens s?o constru?das no tr?nsito pelos diversos pertencimentos, entre a esfera p?blica e a privada, com viv?ncias significativas. Jämförelsen omfattas av en energi- och kostnadsanalys på de olika systemen föratt se vilket som drar mest energi och vilket som är mest kostnadseffektivt. Metodiken för att lösa arbetets frågeställningar har varit genom informationssamling från projektets deltagare och beräkningsgång i Microsoft Excel och Google kalkyl. Resultatet visar att VAV-system är den mest energieffektiva valet av ventilationssystem. Den har en årlig energianvändning på 7984 kWh/skolår medan CAV-systemet använder 22 087kWh/skolår. Den ekonomiska analysen visar att VAV-systemet har en högre LCC-kostnad jämfört med CAV-systemet. Den totala LCC-kostnaden för VAV-systemet är 2 128 045 kr och 2 027 494kr för CAV-systemet. Däremot har VAV-systemet en lägre nuvärdeskostnad än CAV-systemet. Om verksamheten hade omfattats av en säker beläggningsgrad skulle det totala luftflödet varit lägre och ett mindre luftbehandlingsaggregat hade kunnat väljas. Om kalkylräntan sjunker någon procent och energiprishöjningen höjs någon procent hade skillnaden i pris mellan systemen varit närmare noll. Förslag på framtida analys kan vara att göra en driftoptimering när en beläggningsgrad finns, då kan det framföras en tydlig motivering till att välja VAV-system som är bäst ur miljösynpunkt.
In order to reach the climate goals in Sweden that the EU has set, energy efficient solutions in buildings are required all around the country. The purpose of this report has therefore been to compere two different ventilations systems, VAV-system (variable air velocity) and CAV(constant air velocity) in a reconstruction of an a school buiding that is located in Borås. The comparison has involved both an energy- and economic analysis of the two different ventilation systems. The method to complete this report has been through gathering information from the project participants and calculations using Microsoft Excel and Google calculation. The result of this study makes it clear that a VAV-system is the best energy efficient choice of ventilation system. The yearly energy use of the VAV-system is 7984 kWh/school year while CAV-system uses 22087 kWh/school year. The economic analysis shows that the VAV-system has a higher LCC-cost due to the high investment sum. The total LCC-cost for VAV-system is 2128 045 SEK and 2 027 494 SEK for the CAV-system, however the present value for the VAVsystemis lower than the CAV-system. If the school could secure an occupancy the total air flow of the air handling unit (AHU) could be reduced. This could potentially lead to a change to a lower sized AHU that gives a lower cost of the AHU and further energy savings. A suggestion is to evaluate this further in a later stage of the project in order to optimize the AHU when the occupancy is given and more certain. In addition this could motivate to choice of the more energy efficient VAV-system.

A new position sensitive gas photomultiplier for the Vacuum Ultraviolet (VUV) region is presented in this work. The detector is composed by two THGEMs, followed by a 2D-THCOBRA being operated in Ne/CH4(5%), at 1 bar pressure in single photon mode. The 2D-THCOBRA is an hybrid microstructure which combines the robustness and the resistance to discharges of a THGEM with the two independent charge multiplication stages and the position discrimination of the 2D-MHSP. In this work the 2D-THCOBRA influence in the charge gain and IBF values was studied. The position resolution of the entire system was also studied. The achieved results shown a charge gain of 106 and, for this gain values, an IBF value of about 20%. Position resolutions below 300 μm were also obtained.
O presente trabalho baseia-se no desenvolvimento e estudo de um fotomultiplicador gasoso na região do Utra-Violeta de Vazio (UVV) e com capacidade de discriminação de posição. O detector é constituído por duas THGEM seguidas de uma 2D-THCOBRA, a operar em Ne/CH4(5%) à pressão de 1 bar e em modo de fotão único. A 2D-THCOBRA é uma estrutura híbrida, que resulta da combinação entre uma THGEM e uma 2D-MHSP, beneficiando da robustez e resistência às descargas da primeira e dos dois estágios de multiplicação e da capacidade de discriminação da posição da 2D-MHSP. Neste trabalho foi estudada a influência dos potenciais aplicados aos eléctrodos da 2D-THCOBRA no ganho e no refluxo de iões (IBF) do detector. Foi ainda avaliada a resolução em posição deste detector. Foram medidos ganhos da ordem de 106 e, para estes valores de ganho, IBF na ordem dos 20%. Obteve-se ainda resoluções em posição inferiores a 300 μm.

Abstract:
I denna rapport undersöks lönsamheten och energibesparingen av att byta ut befintligt CAV-system mot ett VAV-system i Språkförskolan som är belägen i Umeå på Marielund/Olofsdal området. Projektet utförs i samarbete med Tyréns i Umeå som är ett konsultföretag och ett av de ledande företagen inom samhällsbyggnad i Sverige.   Med hjälp av IDA ICE, som är ett energiberäkningsprogram, kunde en modell av förskolan byggas i 3D utifrån ritningar och inställningar såsom, antal personer, belysning, ventilationssystem och luftflöden, inomhustemperatur och så vidare, justeras för att vara så lik den verkliga byggnaden som möjligt. När alla värden var satta gjordes en energisimulering i programmet som ger mängder av värden som till exempel årlig energiförbrukning för olika system i byggnaden och värmeförluster genom byggnadens klimatskal. Filen duplicerades och CAV-systemet byttes ut mot ett VAV-system och ytterligare en simulering gjordes. Utifrån simuleringsresultaten jämfördes energiförbrukning för värmesystemet och fläktarna i de båda fallen.   I AutoCAD ritades en ventilationslösning med VAV-systemet i en avdelning av förskolan, med tillhörande VAV-spjäll som automatiskt justerar luftflödet efter den uppmätta belastningen i rummet. CAV-systemet justerar inte luftflödet utan går på max dimensionerat flöde hela tiden vilket inte är energieffektivt i rum med varierande belastning (människor).   Resultaten från simuleringarna visade att med styrd ventilation sjönk den totala årliga energiförbrukningen med 20 953 kWh vilket är en procentuell sänkning på 26%. Av denna energibesparingen stod värmesystemet för 67% och fläktarna för 33%. Investeringskostnaden för att installera VAV-spjäll i byggnaden är 192 000 SEK och utifrån den årliga besparingen hamnar återbetalningstiden på 19,7 år. Med en livslängd på 25–30 år anses en investering av VAV-systemet vara lönsam.
This report examines the profitability and energy-saving potential of replacing the existing CAV system with a VAV system in Språkförskolan, which is located in Umeå in the Marielund/Olofsdal area. The project is carried out in collaboration with Tyréns in Umeå, which is a consulting company and one of the leading companies in urban management in Sweden.   With the help of IDA ICE, which is an energy calculation program, a model of the preschool could be built in 3D based on floor plan drawings and settings such as the number of people, lighting, ventilation systems and air flows, indoor temperature and so on adjusted so as to be as similar to the actual building as possible. When all values ​​were set, an energy simulation was made in the program, which gave a lot of values ​​such as annual energy consumption for different systems in the building and heat losses through the building envelope. The file was duplicated, and the CAV system was replaced by a VAV system and another simulation was started. Based on the simulation results, energy consumption for the heating system and the fans was compared in both cases.   In AutoCAD, a ventilation solution was designed with the VAV system in one department of the preschool, with associated VAV dampers that automatically adjust the airflow according to the measured load in the room. The CAV system does not adjust the airflow but goes to the maximum dimensioned flow all the time which is not energy efficient in rooms with varying loads (people).   The results from the simulations showed that with variable ventilation, the total annual energy consumption decreased by 20 953 kWh, which is a reduction of 26%. Of this energy saving, the heating system accounted for 67% and the fans for 33%. The investment cost for installing VAV dampers in the building is SEK 192,000, and based on the annual savings the payback time was calculated to 19,7 years. With a lifetime of 25-30 years, an investment of the VAV system is considered to be profitable.

Abstract:
The characterization of the longitudinal density profile or bunch shape of picosecond and sub-picosecond relativistic particle bunches is a fundamental requirement in many particle accelerator facilities, since knowledge of the characteristics of the accelerated beams is of utmost importance for the successful development of the next generation light sources and linear colliders. The development of suitable beam diagnostics, non-invasive and non-intercepting, is thus necessary to produce and control such beams. First experimental evidences of the non-intercepting and non-destructive nature of DR diagnostics are presented. The precise longitudinal bunch distributions downstream of the second bunch compressor (DBC3) of the DESY TTF VUV-FEL have been reconstructed using a frequency-domain technique based on the autocorrelation of coherent diffraction radiation (CDR). A Kramers-Kronig analysis has then been applied to derive the minimal phase. The autocorrelation of diffraction radiation coming from a thin conducting foil placed in the vacuum chamber has been obtained using a MartinPuplett interferometer and sub-millimeter radiation. The measurement and the reconstruction of the longitudinal bunch distribution are discussed in detail showing also the strong dependence of the bunch length on the accelerating module phase. Due to the low and high frequency suppression, introduced by the experimental apparatus, only a portion of the CDR spectrum participates to the reconstruction of the longitudinal bunch profile. The knowledge of the system frequency response, in particular in the millimeter and sub-millimeter range is then crucial in order to correct the results and extrapolate a bunch shape as close as possible to the real one. At this purpose, a precise characterization over three different frequency regions of the Golay cell detector used for the measurement is also discussed, thus extending the cell calibration into the long wavelengths region.

Cette thèse doctorale explore l'amélioration de l'allocation des ressources sans fil dans les communications Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), selon la norme 3GPP Release 16. Le domaine spécifique de notre recherche est la communication NR-V2X Sidelink, également connue sous le nom de communication New Radio-Vehicles to Vehicles (NR-V2V). Notre objectif est de formuler un nouveau protocole d'optimisation qui garantit non seulement des services de haute qualité (QoS) mais surpasse également les méthodologies existantes dans la communication NR-V2V.Tout d'abord, nous introduisons la Configuration Physique Adaptative (APC), un algorithme basé sur la recherche conçu pour identifier la configuration optimale de la couche physique à l'intérieur d'un ensemble de facteurs environnementaux, spécifiquement adaptée pour un schéma de communication de diffusion. Suite à cela, nous faisons évoluer l'APC vers une variante sensible à la radio (RA-APC), élargissant son champ d'action en incorporant une communication en unicast et en établissant une structure plus flexible pour les ressources PHY. Dans la phase finale, nous affinons encore RA-APC en intégrant un algorithme d'apprentissage automatique, spécifiquement un arbre de décision. Cette intégration met à jour les schémas au sein des facteurs d'entrée, augmentant ainsi à la fois la précision et l'efficacité du processus d'optimisation de l'allocation
This doctoral dissertation explores the enhancement of wireless resource allocation in Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications, as specified by the 3GPP Release 16 standard. The specific area of our research is the NR-V2X Sidelink communication, also known as the New Radio-Vehicles to Vehicles (NR-V2V) communication. Our goal is to formulate a novel optimization protocol that not only guarantees high-quality services (QoS) but also outperforms existing methodologies in NR-V2V communication.Initially, we introduce Adaptive Physical Configuration (APC), a search-based algorithm designed to identify the optimal physical layer configuration within a set of environmental factors, specifically tailored for a broadcast communication scheme. Following this, we evolve APC into a Radio Aware variant (RA-APC), broadening its scope by incorporating unicast communication and establishing a more flexible structure for PHY resources. In the final phase, we further refine RA-APC by integrating a machine learning algorithm, specifically a decision tree. This integration uncovers patterns within the input factors, thereby augmenting both the accuracy and efficiency of the allocation optimization process

Pipelines from offshore petroleum fields must frequently pass overareas with uneven seafloor.  In such cases the pipeline may havefree spans when crossing depressions. Hence, if dynamic loads canoccur, the free span may oscillate and time varying stresses maygive unacceptable fatigue damage. A major source for dynamicstresses in free span pipelines is vortex induced vibrations (VIV)caused by steady current. This effect is in fact dominating ondeep water pipelines since wave induced velocities andaccelerations will decay with increasing water depth. Thechallenge for the industry is then to verify that such spans cansustain the influence from the environment throughout the lifetimeof the pipeline.\\\\The aim of the present project is to improve the understanding ofvortex induced vibrations (VIV) of free span pipelines, andthereby improve methods, existing computer programs and guidelinesneeded for design verification.  This will result in more costeffective and reliable offshore pipelines when laid on a veryrugged seafloor.\\\\VIV for multiple span pipeline is investigated and the dynamicalinteraction between adjacent spans has been shown. The interactionmay lead to increased or decreased response of each spansdepending on the current speed and the properties for the twospans. The extension of the contact zone between the spans andseafloor parameters will of course also be important for theinteraction effect.\\\\The influence from temperature variation on vortex inducedvibrations has been demonstrated. The response frequency isinfluenced through changes in pipe tension and sag. Both increaseand decrease of the response frequency may be experienced.Moreover, it is shown that the influence from snaking of the pipeon the temperature effect is small, at least for large diameterpipes.\\\\A free span pipeline will necessarily oscillate close to the seabed.The presence of the seabed will therefore have some influences onthe ambient flow profile and also on the flow pattern around thecylinder during oscillation. Hydrodynamic parameters may thereforevary when the pipe is close to the seabed. In the present work, theinfluence from spatial varying current profiles is investigated forboth single and multiple span pipeline. It is shown that thedifference between using uniform and spatial varying currentprofiles is significant for some current speeds. It is also shownthat use of spatial varying current profiles can be even moreimportant for multiple span pipeline.\\\\The comparison of VIVANA analysis results with MARINTEK testresults has been given. It shows VIVANA predicts the cross-flow responsegenerally much higher than the test measurements, especially for thehigher mode responses. To improve understanding of this phenomena, the VIVANA model was tuned tothe test model and results are compared in different cases. Attempts were made to obtain a better agreement by adjusting some of the input parameters to VIAVANA. The reference point is tuned by changing various hydrodynamic properties, i.e. $C_{L}$, $St$ and added mass. The response frequenciesare also tuned in order to have a better agreement on the results. It is been concluded that the method used here by VIVANA is not able to describe VIV for free spanning pipelines adequately. It is not possible to find a set of parameter in a rational way that will give reasonably correct results. The discrepancy between the analysis and test results are highlighted which confirms the interaction between the in-line and cross-flow vibrations.Discussions are given and addressed on different reasons which may cause this phenomena.\\\\An improved strategy for non-linear analysis of free span pipelineis outlined. Time domain analysis for free span pipeline hasbeen performed. The difference between time and frequency domainanalysis has also been investigated by varying boundary conditions,pipe properties and axial tension. A significant difference is shownbetween results from time and frequency domain analysis at each endof the span where the pipe is started to interact with the seafloor.Due to high fatigue at this point, the importance of usingnon-linear time domain analysis is therefor obvious and highlyrecommended.

Utgångspunkten för uppsatsen är frågeställningen Kan jag finna ett didaktiskt tillvägagångssätt, med hjälp av den tysta kunskapen, genom dialogen och praktisk övning, i min kommande roll som bildlärare? Mina frågeställningar har jag ställt för att kunna synliggöra kunskapsöverföring för mig själv och för att kunna effektivt få användning av den i en lärande situation. Genom en dagboksprocess har jag redogjort för hur uppsatsen behandlar min frågeställning. Jag har valt ut tre specifika delar från processen och med hjälp av Bengt Molanders bok, Kunskap i handling, sammankopplat hans teorier med min upplevelse av processen. Gestaltningen, trasmattan, visar en klar och tydlig förbindelse mellan teori och praktik, att den existerar, att jag har praktiserat ”lära genom att göra”. Uppsatsen behandlar samspelet mellan en inlärningsprocess under ett praktiskt arbete med en gestaltningsuppgift och filosofiska studier. I mina frågeställningar har jag funnit svar på ett didaktiskt tillvägagångssätt. Min studie har för mig visat existensen och vikten av förståelsen för kunskap i handling, speciellt den tysta kunskapen. Jag har varseblivit den tysta kunskapen och att jag till viss del besitter den och även delar med mig av den. Att i livet ständigt omges av det tysta, ja, kanske även i sömnen.
