This exploratory case study examined supervisors' perceptions of supervision of undergraduate research projects, and whether the level of experience affects the quality of the supervision process. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. Participants were three supervisors with varying levels of experience in the supervision process at Yanbu University College in Saudi Arabia. Obtained themes were used with the whole data-set. The data were rearranged according to the emerged common themes among the three participants. Findings revealed that the level of experience affected the supervision process in relation to the supervisors‘ perceptions. It also suggested that the level of expereince of the supervisors influnced the process of supervision and the feedback given to the undergraduate students. An implication of these findings is that providing novice supervisors with training and guidance should be considered. Departments should create a discussion platform between experienced and novice supervisors to ensure that the supervision expereince is well delivered to undergraduates during their research projects. The study recommends supervisors to revisit all phases of their practice.

This article studies the different food conceptual metaphors in Jordanian Arabic through the study of different food-related idioms and proverbs. A corpus was built by collecting the largest possible number of food-related idioms and proverbs used in Jordanian Arabic, regardless of the dialect, using a survey containing open-ended questions. The collected food-related idioms and proverbs were categorized according to the target domain into which the metaphors are mapped. Food in Jordanian Arabic food as a source domain can be mapped into the following target domains: IDEAS, EXPERIENCE, TEMPERAMENT, GAINING MONEY UNLAWFULLY, WINNING , DECEIVING, COOPERATION, SCHEMING and TALKING NONESENSE. These target domains form the following Conceptual Metaphors: IDEAS ARE FOOD, GOING THROUGH AN EXPEREINCE IS EATING IT, TEMPERAMENT IS FOOD, GAINING MONEY UNLAWFULLY IS EATING IT, WINNING IS EATING , DECEIVING IS MIXING INGREDIENTS, COOPERATION IS SHARING FOOD, SCHEMING IS COOKING TOGETHER and TALKING NONESENSE IS KNEADING.

Background: Female Genital Cutting is a complex issue requiring continuing care for girls and women who may be at risk or may have been undergone this harmful practice.Objective: Assess the experiences of Female Genital Cutting and its relation to sexual satisfaction among rural women in El Beheria Governorate.Design: cross-sectional descriptive design.Settings: The study was carried out at 16 rural health units representing the 16 health zones in El Beheria Governorate.Subjects: A convenience sample of 800 women selected from the previously mentioned setting (50 from each health unit).Tools: Two tools were used for data collection. The first tool was women’s experience of FGC structured interview schedule to identify data related to personal and socio-demographic characteristics, their experience of FGC, as well as their attitude towards FGC, which was assessed through 21 statements in three points Likert scale. The second tool was sexual satisfaction Scale to assess the sexual satisfaction among the married women.Results: Findings of the present study revealed that the majority (90.0%) of the women had undergone FGC. Moreover, less than two thirds (63.0%) of the women had positive attitude toward combating FGC. Additionally, around one tenth 9.8% of the women suffered from low sexual satisfaction compared to 18.4% of them who had high satisfaction. Moreover, significant correlations were found between women’s experience of FGC and their attitude toward it as well as with their sexual satisfaction.Conclusion: The study concluded that FGC is highly prevalent practices among rural women. There are a significant association between women’s experience of FCG and their attitude towards it as well as with the women’s sexual satisfaction.

The increasing of technology bring great impact to humans’ life, including education. Learning English is very important this day, to be able fluent in English students need to learn vocabulary. Students face difficulty when they memorizing and defining vocabulary because there is a huge number of vocabulary, and the process of learning is boring. Mobile games can help students to learn vocabulary more interestingly. This study aims to investigate students' perspectives about learning vocabulary using a mobile game. The method used thematic data analysis from Braun & Clark. As a result student’ has positive preception and expereience about learning media to learn English vocabulary, the challenges that students face, when they learn using a mobile game, is the distraction of social media. Abstract The background of this study are there are 41% of hospital nurses expereinced dissatisfaction with their jobs and 22% among them planning to leave their job in one year. Job satisfaction is a form of people perception reflected in attitude and focused on job behaviour. The aim of this study is to identified factors that affect hospital nurses’ job satisfaction. The articles used in this study are between the years of 2011-2021 from PubMed, Research Gate, and Scholar with PICO format. Seventeen articles are chosen to be analyzed. This study shows that most of the hospital nurses aren’t satisfied with their jobs. Factors that affecting job satisfaction are motivation factors including; achievement, job, promotion, motivation, and safety factor; and hygiene factors including; salary, supervisor, partner, and environment factor. Hospital should make SOP about salaryprocessing, supervisor selection, equal job distribution based on job partner, awards for nurses, motivation, and opportunity to gain promotion and work safety guarantee.

Sudanese women’s experience in oral tradition remains unrecognised in its own cultural setting. Agani al-Banat (literally means the girls’ songs) is not regarded as a serious artistry either because in most cases the author is unknown, or sung by those who are considered disrespectable according to the riverine culture i.e. the culture of the northern Sudanese who live along the river Nile. The Girls songs are worth of studying and investigating due to the terminology, expression and symbols used in these songs, the rites associated with their performance, the continuity and dynamism of the songs themselves make the girls songs a pure women's culture with its distinctive features and symbols that influence or be influenced with social reality. Through applying Griswold’s cultural diamond framework this paper examines selected songs’ texts, which carry various symbolism and meanings which, identify gender relations, gender identity, women's aspiration/feelings, and rebellion to the dominant culture. The journey within the girls’ songs texts has uncovered both positive (empowerment) and negative (disempowerment) impacts of these songs on Sudanese women’s expereince. In term of empowerment the Sudanese women, through the Girls’ Songs, break the silence towards some practices such as compulsory relatives’ marriage and polygamy. While in terms of disempowerment, these songs, supports the dominant culture through participating in presenting and perpetuating the stereotype images of woman’s identity as being only defined by her body.

Chemistry learning based on the intertextuality of chemistry demands relationship among chemistry representsation on three levels, which are macrocospic, microscopic, and symbol level with the daily experience of students and the social interaction developed by teachers. Through the research entitled “Pengembangan CD Pembelajaran Interaktif Kimia SMA Berbasis Intertekstualitas sebagai Alternatif Model Pembelajaran”, we will have a learning CD for teachers using competency standard and basic competency; concepts and indicators; the representation of chemistry materials on three levels macroscopic, microscopic, and symbol; learning description; and student work sheet. Before making the learning model, we will execute a standard analysis on the content of KTSP 2006, so we will get the concepts and indicators; potray the learning process of teachers in class and analyse the reference books both text books and hig school books. The data source for this research is the table of according to concept and indicators with competency standard and basic competency; the observation of learning process in class; the analysis table of three levels; hydrolysis materials from text books in high school and university; and the descriptive table of hydrolysis concept learning. The supporting instruments used are quistionaires to know the students expereince and essay texts to know the concept understanding the students have after the learning process. From the standard analysis of the content of KTSP 2006, we have three concepts and eight indicators. The first concept is classifying salt according to the forming compounds with the indicators (1) explain salt coming from strong acid and strong base; (2) explain salt coming from strong acid and weak base; (3) explain salt coming from weak acid and strong base; (4) explaining salt coming from weak acid and weak base. The second concept: hydrolysis is the ions reaction with water molecul producing ion H+ and or OH- with indicators (1) describe salt hydrolysis and (2) explain various kinds of salt hydrolysis. The third concept is salt undergoing hydrolysis can be acid base, or neutral with indicators (1) measure qualitatively the characteristic of acid, base, and neutral of salt by using some indicators and (2) count the ph of hydrolysied salt condensation. The observation result will be recorded on video then transcribed into text and smoothed to be a basic text. After that, we will do propotition degradation to gain global structure. Then, this data will be classified based on the intertextuality of chemistry. From the result of the data analysis we can conclude that the model teacher has not used the learning based on the intertextuality chemistry yet. The learning process of the model teacher is dominated by the symbol level and the social interaction developed by the teacher is not optimal; besides, there is no aspect of daily experience discussed in the learning process. The development of learning model based on intertextuality begins by making hydrolysis material representation in three levels. The compilation of hydrolysis material representation is executed in three steps: analysing high school books and university; making representation device; conducting validation to experts and practitioners; and final revision. In macroscopic level we do demonstration of the condensation and litmus test on soaps, alum, and salt and also the determination pH of the salt by using pH meter. In microscopic level we demonstrate pictures of species salt solutionbefore and after hydrolysis process. Then in symbolic level we demonstrate the formula of salt molecul, ionisation reaction equation and hydrolysis on salt, and mathematic formula in determining the concentration H+ and OH- to count pH and pOH. Later on, we make a description of the learning process equiped with learning media; clarify the demonstrations; present the model in front of experts and practitioners; record it in a learning CD. Meanwhile, the application of the learning CD in class will be conducted in the next research in the second year.Key words: interactive teaching media, intertextuality, teaching model.

AbstractIntroductionPulmonary hypertension in children is associated with high rates of adverse events under anesthesia. In children who have failed medical therapy, a posttricuspid shunt such as a Potts shunt can offload the right ventricle and possibly delay or replace the need for lung transplantation. Intraoperative management of this procedure, during which an anastomosis between the pulmonary artery and the descending aorta is created, is complex and requires a deep understanding of the pathophysiology of acute and chronic right ventricular failure. This retrospective case review describes the intraoperative management of children undergoing surgical creation of a Potts shunt at a single center.MethodsA retrospective case review of all patients under the age of 18 who underwent Potts shunt between April 2013 and June 2022. Medical records were examined, and clinical data of demographics, intraoperative vital signs, anesthetic management, and postoperative outcomes were extracted.ResultsTwenty‐nine children with medically refractory pulmonary hypertension underwent surgical Potts shunts with a median age of 12 years (range 4 months to 17.4 years). Nineteen Potts shunts (65%) were placed via thoracotomy and 10 (35%) were placed via median sternotomy with use of cardiopulmonary bypass. Ketamine was the most frequently utilized induction agent (17 out of 29, 59%), and the majority of patients were initiated on vasopressin prior to intubation (20 out of 29, 69%). Additional inotropic support with epinephrine (45%), milrinone (28%), norepinephrine (17%), and dobutamine (14%) was used prior to shunt placement. Following opening of the Potts shunt, hemodynamic support was continued with vasopressin (66%), epinephrine (62%), milrinone (59%), dobutamine (14%), and norepinephrine (10%). Major intraoperative complications included severe hypoxemia (21 out of 29, 72%) and hypotension requiring boluses of epinephrine (10 out of 29, 34.5%) but no patient suffered intraoperative cardiac arrest. There were four in‐hospital mortalities.DiscussionA Potts shunt offers another palliative option for children with medically refractory pulmonary hypertension. General anesthesia in these children carries high risk for pulmonary hypertensive crises. Anesthesiologists must understand underlying physiological mechanisms responsble for acute hemodynaic decompensation during acute pulmonary hypertneisve crises. Severe physiological perturbations imposed by thoracic surgery and use of cardiopulmonay bypass can be mitigated by aggresive heodynamic support of ventricle function and maintainence of systemic vascular resistance. Early use of vasopressin, before or immidiately after anesthesia induction, in combination with other inotropes is a useful agent during the perioperative care of thes. Early use of vasopressin during anesthesia induction, and aggressive inotropic support of right ventricular function can help mitigate effects of induction and intubation, single‐lung ventilation, and cardiopulmonary bypass.ConclusionsOur single center expereince shows that the Potts shunt surgery, despite high short‐term mortaility, may offer another option for palliation in children with medically refractory pulmonary hypertension.

The development of unmanned self-driving vehicles appears to have great potential to increase safety and transport productivity. In industry, these vehicles are expected to be adopted first in confined contexts (hubs), such as mines. However, there is a need to better understand how to design interaction models to handle complex situations when professional operators interact with such vehicles in collaborative tasks. Research has suggested that verbal communication may facilitate interaction between automated vehicles and humans. Augmented reality (AR) has also been investigated to support operators in various work domains. Overall, research has indicated that these emerging technologies can improve operators’ productivity and safety.ObjectivesThe main study aim was to investigate the potential of verbal interaction and AR to support the user experience and facilitate collaboration between operators and unmanned self-driving heavy vehicles in hub environments. The second aim was to gain better insights into the effects of more social and natural verbal human–machine interaction. The study focused on loading scenarios in two hub types: logistic centers and underground mines.MethodsThe study had 32 participants: 16 forklift operators and 16 rock-loading operators. Two variants of concepts were designed for each hub type. The natural voice interaction (NVI) variant was designed to mimic natural and social verbal interaction between two human operators. In the basic voice interaction (BVI) variant, verbal interaction was kept to a minimum, and the operator controlled the vehicle with short verbal commands. AR was used in both variants to provide visual guidance, for instance how to distribute the load in the vehicle. The concepts were implemented in animated movies in which the operator in the movie collaborated with the unmanned vehicle to prepare and conduct a loading task. The study was conducted using online interviews in which the participants watched the movies. Subjective opinions related to acceptance, work efficiency, and other aspects of the user experience were assessed using rating scales and open-ended questions.Results and discussionOverall, the concepts generated high scores of user expereince and work efficiency in both user contexts. For instance, on a scale of 1 (inefficient) to 7 (efficient), forklift operators’ mean scores were 6.4 for the NVI and 6.4 for the BVI. The results support the use of verbal interaction and AR to facilitate collaboration between human operators and vehicles. The proposed concepts also provide promising examples of interaction models for further investigation and implementation. Interestingly, most forklift operators stated that they trusted the vehicle more in the NVI because the interaction felt, for instance, more human-like and safe. These results indicate the potential to include more natural dialogues when developing future verbal interfaces for human–vehicle collaboration. However, no difference in trust between concept variants was found among the rock loaders. Also, more rock loaders preferred the BVI, and several subjects highlighted that the extensive use of verbal interaction could become a disturbance. These results support the importance of adapting interaction design in future implementations to the needs of specific users to gain high acceptance and productivity.
