Han, Bo. "An Investigation of Factors Influencing the User's Social Network Site Continuance Intention." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2012. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc177209/.

Full text
Abstract:
The social network sites (SNS) industry has recently shown an abnormal development pattern: An SNS could rapidly accumulate a large number of users, and then suffer a serious loss of users in a short time, which subsequently leads to the failure of the Web site in the highly competitive market. The user's social network site continuance is considered the most important factor for an SNS to keep its sustainable development. However, little knowledge of the user's SNS continuance raises the following research question: What factors could significantly influence the user's SNS continuance intention? To address this research question, I study the question from three lenses of research, including the I-view, the social interactivity view, and the trust based view. The I-view is an extension of the IS continuance model. From this research perspective, I tested the influence of the utilitarian factor (i.e., perceived usefulness) and the hedonic factor (i.e., perceived enjoyment) on the user's satisfaction in the I-view. In addition, I extend the umbrella construct, confirmation, into two sub-constructs, informativeness and self-actualization, and respectively study their influences on the utilitarian factor and the hedonic factor. I find that the user's perceived enjoyment has a significant positive effect on the user's satisfaction, thereby motivating the user to continue using the SNS. The perceived informativeness of an SNS and the user's self-actualization through information sharing with others on the Web site both have significant positive effects on the user's perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment. From the social interactivity perspective, I suggest that a user's social gains could have a projection effect on the user's satisfaction in an SNS and his or her SNS continuance intention. Most previous studies emphasized on the influence of social connection outcomes (i.e., social capitals) on the user's behavioral intention, but ignored the fact that an individual would also evaluate social connections according to the quality of the information sharing process (i.e., frequency and volume of information being exchanged) during the social activities. This study indicates that an SNS user's perceived interactivity has a significant positive effect on the user's sense of belonging to a virtual community and perceived social gains. The social gains significantly positively influence the user's satisfaction in the Web site and intention to continue using the SNS. From the trust based view, I find that the user's trust in the social network sites and the user's trust in other members both have significantly positive effects on the user's SNS continuance intention. In addition, both of the trust based factors could also positively influence the user's perceived informativeness, self-actualization, and sense of belonging. The findings from the current study create a solid foundation for future SNS continuance research, and also provide several practical implications to SNS managers to increase the cohesion between users and the Web sites.

Abstract:
This thesis aimed to investigate the determinants of system satisfaction and the intention to systematically integrate a system from a continuous use perspective, where system use is mandatory. For this purpose, two identical questionnaires were distributed to collect data, 15 months apart. Respondents taking part in this study are healthcare multi-professionals who pertain to a work-group at an intensive care unit, at a large Swedish hospital. To evaluate the questionnaire data a research model was conceptualized, grounded in prior information system continuance research. It is also significantly influenced by the UMISC metamodel, conceptualized and suggested by Hadji & Degoulet (2016). The collected data was then analyzed using a two-stage analysis where one aspect was comparative, i.e., a comparison of the data between the two questionnaires, and the other was explorative, wherein research model constructs and their relations were evaluated. This analysis provided significant insight into the determinants of system satisfaction. However, regarding the determinants of the intention to systematically integrate as well as the research model itself, neither could be validated in this study. Nevertheless, these results allowed for a modified model to be conceptualized, with potentially promising results.

Osah, Olam-Oniso. "Determinants of user continuance intention towards mobile money services : the case of M-pesa in Kenya." Doctoral thesis, University of Cape Town, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/11427/16718.

Abstract:
Includes bibliographical references
The turn of the millennium witnessed the uptake and proliferation of mobile technology in developing regions. This occurrence has provided a medium for mobile telecommunication vendors within the region to create and offer services that are now accessible across socio-economic classes. A notable case of a widely adopted mobile technology-enabled service in the developing world is a mobile money service in Kenya called M-pesa. Since its inception, M-pesa has witnessed a mass adoption which has generally been attributed to prior lack of access by majority of individuals' in the country to affordable regulated financial services. M-pesa's presence has now been anticipated to afford a larger population the initial opportunity to harness economic benefits such as: increase money circulation, increase employment opportunities, facilitate social capital accumulation, facilitate savings, and promote financial autonomy, amongst others. Also, M-pesa based transactions in Kenya are reported to exceed those of western union globally. Whilst M-pesa presently vaunts large user adoption numbers, it is the first of its kind in the region to amass such achievement. Further, historically: products and services of similar nature to M-pesa have been unsustainable. A case of M-pesa's demise would have dire implication for the Kenyan economy and 30% of the households in the country that rely on it for remittances. To understand this phenomenon, extant studies have examined the drivers of adoption of this service but have slacked in subsequent investigations to understand user continuance with the service. As such, the information systems literature cautions that initial adoption of technology, although crucial, does not guarantee sustained use. Therefore it is imperative to investigate drivers of continuance. In general, extant research has not focused on investigations of user continuance intention in Africa. In response, this thesis presents an African based study on the determinants of user continuance intention towards M-pesa. Specifically, the purpose of this study was to i) identify and discuss factors from the literature that are most likely to influence user continuance intention towards M-pesa, (ii) develop a research model that is grounded in theory, (iii) test the model within the sample context to identify the antecedents and determinants of user continuance intention towards M-pesa in Kenya. A broad, critical review of the relevant literature provided basis for hypothesized relationships between the identified factors. A formal survey of users of M-pesa in Kenya comprised the phase of data collection and resulted in a usable data set of (n=434). The data collected from the respondents within Kenya was relied upon to test the hypotheses. The survey instrument used to measure the study's constructs was developed via a process of literature review, expert pre-testing, pilot testing, and statistical validation. Partial Least Square and Artificial Neural Network analyses were used to examine the study's measurement and structural model comprising variables of : behavioural beliefs (post-usage usefulness, confirmation, satisfaction), control-beliefs (utilization and flow), object-based beliefs (perceived task-technology fit, system quality, information quality, and service quality), and attitudinal belief (trust). Collectively, the afore-listed ten independent variables and one dependent variable (continuance intention) comprised the study's model. Four of the independent variables (utilization, satisfaction, flow, and trust) were hypothesized to directly determine continuance intention. Of these four, all emerged as determinants of continuance intention. However, trust emerged as the strongest determinant, subsequently, utilization, flow, and satisfaction respectively. The result was unexpected, as satisfaction (a behavioural belief) has been presented in the extant literature as the dominant determinant of continuance intention but does not hold a consistent predictive strength in a developing world. Its predictive power was diluted by trust, utilization, and flow amongst the Kenyan sample. The study's model revealed an R² of 0.334. The analyses demonstrated that user continuance intention is determined by factors across object, control, attitudinal, and behavioural beliefs. The unexpected finding of the rankings of predictive strength of the factors turns a new leaf and introduces areas of further inquiry in future studies. The study concludes with realized contributions to theory and important guidelines for current and future technology-enabled service vendors in developing regions.

With technology being introduced into the daily lives of any company and any consumer, it is imperative that the digital world has arrived to stay. To keep up with the presence and continuous growth of technology, companies need to adapt, consumers need to learn and while old habits are lost, new ways of living are emerging. This dissertation focuses on the study of the use of mobile banking apps by consumers in general. The conceptual model proposed for this purpose studies the influence of certain variables on the perception of perceived risk when using this technology, as well as the continuance intention of using it. To estimate the model, 112 valid responses obtained through an online survey were used. The results obtained show that only user satisfaction has a positive and significant influence on the continuance intention of using mobile banking apps. The study also showed that variables such as the perceived usefulness, trust and perceived quality have a significant positive impact on user satisfaction. It was also possible to verify that the perceived quality of the consumer has a negative influence on the perceived risk. In other words, the higher the perceived quality of the App, the lower the is perceived risk about it. In turn, the perceived risk was shown to have a negative and significant effect on trust. Finally, the perceived ease of use of a mobile banking app positively and significantly impacts the perceived usefulness.

Abstract:
This scientific investigation attempts to study the factors that would impact the user’s continuance intention of interaction with bots. The study adopts an integrated model and studies technology Interface related variables wherein one set of factors are related to the AI product (a. Ease of use, b. Engagement, c. Utility factor) and the other set of factors are related to the user (a. familiarity with Virtual assistants and technology, b. Amount of trust related to data privacy and c. Personality traits of the user). The study borrows from a number of theoretical constructs while attempting to build a framework of factors related to the usage of virtual assistants. The main theories that it builds its edifice of the proposed model are – 1) The expectation conformation theory (ECT) 2) The technology acceptance model ( TAM) 3) The five-factor personality trait model To find the predictors of the dependent variable (Continuance intention of interaction with virtual assistants) a causal survey-based design would be adopted. A dual approach was used to collect data. Quantitative data were collected with the help of a structured survey ( Likert style) questionnaires. One standardized questionnaire was used which was adapted for the Indian context and the reliability and validity was calculated. Qualitative data was collected through interviews of respondents belonging to different demographic backgrounds of a convenient sample. The quantitative data were subjected to bivariate and regression analysis and qualitative data was subjected to content analysis. The results indicate that continuance intention of users to interact with virtual assistants is dependent upon three factors 1) Ease of Use 2) User’s Familiarity of technology 3) Personality trait of openness to experience. The study would have implications for marketers as well as academicians.

This paper aims to examine factors affecting one’s intention to continue using (continuance) mobile social game. Based on expectation confirmation theory, this paper presents a theoretical model combined with the factors of “flow experience” and “perceived entertainment”. Furthermore, considering the characteristic of mobile social game, we extend this theoretical model to include the factor of “social interaction” to study the impact on the “flow experience” and “perceived entertainment”. Moreover, we believe in the context of mobile social game usage, the social influence is important, so we also extended this model to include the factors of “social influence” and “critical mass” to study on the impact on the continuance intention. A survey was conducted to collect data from 496 persons in Taiwan who had played mobile social game within three months; then the hypotheses were tested via the Structural Equation Modeling using the partial least square (PLS) approach. The results suggest that except “social influence” has no significant impact on continuance intention, the other hypotheses are confirmed. We also divide players into different types test the model, and found that most of these types are moderator of this model. According to the results of the study, we provide mobile social game industry some effective development of mobile games practical advice.

This study used the technology acceptance model (TAM) to study mobile APP behavior. The researchers conducted a survey using a paper questionnaire. A convenient sampling method was used for extraction, and the effective sample was 356. The research object is the user of the mobile APP. The findings are as follows. 1.The user's perceived ease of use has a positive impact on the use of mobile applications. Mobile applications that users value are simple, easy to use, intuitive, or user-friendly. 2.The user's perceptual usefulness comes from entertainment. Entertainment has a positive impact on the use of mobile applications. In other words, the higher the perceived usefulness of using the mobile application software, the more satisfied the user's attitude of use and thus the positive impact on the behavioral intention of continued use. 3.Subjective norms have a positive impact on the continued use behavior of mobile applications, indicating that the use of mobile applications is affected by external specifications. 4.The continued use of behavioral intent has a positive impact on the positive word-of-mouth spread using mobile applications. The continued use of the mobile application software is intended to be satisfactory to the user and to be recommended to others. 5.Information security has a statistically positive effect on positive word-of-mouth communication using mobile applications. In other words, if the information security of an APP has doubts, it will lead to negative word-of-mouth communication.

Smartphone sale all over the world grows rapidly in the past two years, but the market of the smartphone operating system share is reshuffled. According to some market researches, the operating system of smartphone has become one important consideration for smartphone users. Therefore, this study was to investigate how cell phone industry continues to attract users to use certain smart phone operating system without losing customers. This study probes into the distribution of smartphone operating systems users, condition of using the system, and factors which affect users’ continuous use of the operating system. Therefore, model of IS success model and expectation confirmation theory were extended accordingly by adding two factors: user involvement and subjective norms, smartphone users’ continuous use of the operating system were investigated. Sample data were collected by using online questionnaires in the major Internet forums, BBS or blog, results were analyzed further and were made into the model diagram. The research results of this study showed that five factors are critical to users’ satisfaction to smartphones: 1. system quality, 2. expectation confirmation, 3. perceived usefulness, 4. perceived ease of use, 5. user involvement. Subjective norm surprisingly does not have significant impact on users’ satisfaction to smartphones. The more smartphone users satisfy with operating system, the more possibilities they will continue with the operating system. Through the meaning and discussion of this study, it is hoped that a trend reference can be provided to smartphone industry and developers of smartphone operating system.

In recent years, the development of network environment has improved and the network cost has reduced greatly. The network browsing speed is getting faster and faster and the multiple ways of sponsorship made the webcast develop quickly. Originally, webcast was only available on the computer, but smartphones have become more popular and the reduction in Wi-Fi cost caused webcast to be developed for the Smartphone. In this study, we apply uses and gratifications theory and flow theory to explore users’ motivation and continuous viewing intention on webcast by video games. We explore further by the types of viewing, game competition webcast, game webcast and broadcasters webcast, and whether affect viewing intention. This study sent questionnaires via internet. Measures of users’ continuous viewing intention on webcast by video game were administered to 1315 participants. It was found that (1)Users’ motivation (entertaining, social and informational) has positive effects on gratifications.(2) Online interactivity (interpersonal interaction, Word-of-mouth, and response ) has positive effects on flow. (3) Gratifications have positive effects on continuous viewing intention. (4) Flow has positive effects on continuous viewing intention. Based on the results of this study, we can understand the motives of the game webcast of different groups. This study found that the influences of social aspect on viewing intention are different among three types of broadcasters, and the webcast industry can enhance the webcast effect at this point that let the users have gratification and continuous viewing intention. Understanding the online interactivity of different groups has different requests for the broadcasters in the game webcast. The broadcasters can actively respond to the audience, thus further increasing the willingness to continue viewing the webcast. The broadcasters can provide feedback and help for the audience with different needs and motives in the future. The results of this study can provide the key factors on the impact of audience’s continued viewing intentions of the webcast industry and planning of webcast content in the future.

Videoconferencing (VC) applications (apps) are getting notable attention worldwide, from common citizens to professionals as an alternative to vis-à-vis communication specifically during COVID-19. The growth of VC apps is expected to rise even more in the future with the prediction that widespread adoption of remote work will continue to hold even after the pandemic. This research investigates the key drivers for individuals’ intentions into continuing to use this technology in professional settings. Considering the importance of professionals’ perceptions of privacy in professionals’ settings, this study proposes a conceptual model rooted in the theoretical foundations of privacy calculus theory, extended with the conceptualization of privacy concerns for mobile users (MUIPC), ubiquity, and theoretical underpinnings from social presence theory. The conceptual research model was empirically tested by using data collected from a survey of 487 actual users of videoconferencing apps across Europe. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is performed to test the model. The study revealed several findings (1) perceived value in using VC apps motivates the professionals to continue using VC apps and shapes their perception as they evaluate the risk-benefit trade-off they are making when using VC apps. (2) professionals’ indeed form and articulate their own assessment of value based on the perceived risks and benefits associated with using VC apps. However, professionals' perceptions of value are strongly influenced by potential benefits received from using VC apps than by potential risks associated with using VC apps. (3) professionals’ perceived risk is determined by MUIPC and trust. (4) professionals’ perceived benefits are shaped by ubiquity and social presence. For researchers, this study highlights the usefulness of integrating privacy calculus theory, social presence theory and trust in studying the individuals’ behavioral intentions towards new technologies. For practitioners, understanding the key determinants is pivotal to design and build mobile video-conferencing apps that achieve higher consumer acceptance and higher rates of continued usage of VC apps in professional settings.

The sharing economy is a fast-growing competitive market and a greatly debated phenomenon. Its success depends on customer repurchase intention. We anticipated a theoretical model integrating the literature of information systems (IS) success model, Expectation-confirmation theory (ECT), and overall trust. This integration allows the evaluation of the determinants of repurchase intention in the sharing economy context. The empirical evidence is grounded on an online questionnaire of 314 respondents. The outcomes disclose that overall trust, continuance intention, user satisfaction, and net benefits are the main determinants of repurchase intention of the sharing economy experience. The research model resulted in a mediation effect where continuance intention plays the role of a partial mediator of user satisfaction on repurchase intention, user satisfaction on net benefits, and use on net benefits. User satisfaction also presents a partial mediator of perceived usefulness on continuance intention. Implications and limitations are discussed.

There has been a long-running war going on over the mobile application and it has attracted increased attention in recent years. However, there has been little research on Social Network App (SNA). We try to extend the Expectation Confirmation Model with the Technology Acceptance Model as the theoretical model to explain the users’ continuance intention and word of mouth on SNA usage. Hypothesis testing was performed using SmartPLS on data collected with 204 Apps users. The results show that satisfaction was affected by perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, confirmation, and the continuance intention and word of mouth were influenced by satisfaction. Theoretical and practical implications were discussed.

Universal internet connections and advanced smartphones have made mobile games widely accepted by the public. People enjoy sports mobile game during commuting, lunch breaks, or leisure time, and they provide huge business opportunities for game operators. In particular, continuance usage intention is one of the most influential factors for revenue drivers. The aim of this study is, based on flow theory and consumer value, to understand how users immerse in sports mobile game and continue playing them. The constructs of skill, challenge, and flow are considered as flow experiences, and the constructs of perceived hedonic value and perceived utilitarian value are considered as consumer value. In the theoretical framework, the levels of the constructs are measured, and the causal relationships among flow experiences, consumer value, and sports mobile game continuance usage intention are investigated. Further, the mediating roles of perceived hedonic value and perceived utilitarian value on the linkage of flow to continuance usage intention are examined. Questionnaires are posted to sports mobile game forums on the Bulletin Board System and Reddit from March 2018 to April 2018, and a total of 403 effective responses are collected. A descriptive statistics analysis is conducted to understand the demographics of the respondents, game usage experience, and the characteristics of each variable. The ANOVA results reveal that there are significant differences in characteristics among the three study groups: light users, moderate users, and heavy users. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) indicates that six factors in this model are extracted with eigenvalues of 1.0 or greater and that the total cumulative variance is 64.059%. In the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), the criteria for measurement model fit, chi-square/df (2.027), GFI (0.892), AGFI (0.867), CFI (0.931), and RMSEA (0.051) demonstrate good model fit with the data. The structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis reveals that all the paths are found to be significant, with t-values higher than 1.96, indicating that user ability and the difficulty level of NBA 2K18 both have a positive effect on flow; flow is positively related to perceived hedonic value, perceived utilitarian value, and sports mobile game continuance usage intention, and perceived hedonic value and perceived utilitarian value are positively related to sports mobile game continuance usage intention. In addition, both perceived hedonic value and perceived utilitarian value are found to partially mediate flow and sports mobile game continuance usage intention. Finally, practical strategies drawn from the results are provided for mobile game operators when developing new games.

Digital banking is growing as the banking sector renews his strategies and knows the importance of technologies to respond to customers’ expectations. Thus, financial services are facing a revolution with the introduction of fully digital banks. This study aims to identify the factors that lead to continuance intention of use of this service, using a combination of the expectation confirmation model (ECM) with service quality, trust, and perceived cost. A questionnaire considering people that already know and use the service was conducted to collect data to the analysis. The results support our hypotheses and suggest a strong and reliable model. In addition to theoretical and methodological contributions, the present study may also be helpful for banks to improve and adopt new strategies capable to enhance customers satisfaction and keep them engaged.

We show evidence on the influence of brand awareness and image, website quality, and visual appeal on the confirmation and continuance use intention of low-cost airlines websites, by combining these four variables with the expectation confirmation model (ECM). Based on a sample of 272 respondents, we demonstrate that brand awareness, brand image, and satisfaction are the variables that best explain continuance intention. The leftover constructs can empirically explain ECM. Strategies based on these conclusions are proposed for low-cost carrier companies to better promote consumers’ continuance use intention.

With the rapid development of microblogs, more and more network operators have started providing microblogging services. In recent years, microblogging has become an integral part of interactive platform for many network users. Through it, people can share photos, audio, video, and links. Sina-Weibo, which was launched by SINA Corporation in August, 2009, is one of the most popular microblogging services. Users may post no more than 140 Chinese characters (i.e., 280 bytes) to share instant messaging. Recently, the Sina Weibo users in Taiwan surpassed 3 million. The continuous improvement of Sina-Weibo has attracted many users. The users’ continuance intention is a key factor that enables the successful information systems to survive. This study used an extended expectation- confirmation theory model (Lin et al., 2005) to find the key factors that affects the users’ continued usage intention of Sina-Weibo in Taiwan. We collected 395 samples to conduct a descriptive statistic analysis and structural equation model analysis. The results indicate that: (a) the Sina-Weibo users’ confirmation positively effects their perceived usefulness, perceived playfulness, and satisfaction; (b) the Sina-Weibo users’ perceived usefulness and perceived playfulness positively effect their satisfaction; (c) the Sina-Weibo users’ perceived usefulness, perceived playfulness, and satisfaction positively effect on their continuance intention. Finally, this study provides some suggestions to the operators of mircroblogging services.

This study is intended to provide a holistic look at the factors affecting user's view of live broadcasting platform by the use of technology acceptance model. This study adopted the questionnaire survey method, which was applied to the study subject- user who watched the live broadcast platform. It was expected that 300 questionnaires would be sent out and 277 valid questionnaires were collected. The effective recovery rate is 92.33%. This study applied statistical analysis methods, namely descriptive statistics, variance analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The main findings are as follows: (1) Concerning background variables, there is a significant difference in continuous use behavior among different ages; (2) with regard to relevant analysis, recognition, usefulness, satisfaction and continuous use behavior demonstrate a significantly positive correlation; (3) regarding regression analysis, the higher the degree of recognition is, the more elevated the level of perceived usefulness will be; so will be the degree of satisfaction; higher user’s perceived usefulness incurs higher degree of satisfaction; user’s perceived usefulness is then translated into continuous use behavior; more user satisfaction is transformed into continuous use behavior. The conclusion of the study is that the degree of recognition, perceived usefulness, and satisfaction positively affect continuous use behavior. As an increasing number of live broadcasting platforms emerge in such a competitive space on the Internet, service providers and streamers have to keep a close eye on how to grasp the attention of users, how to create more innovative elements in their scope of services and how to smoothen and streamline the user interaction and communication.

Because of the universal smart phone and mobile network, the virtual community has started to move towards a convenient, location-based mobile way of life. The market research report found that the number 1 most used mobile application that reaches people in Taiwan is the community software-LINE. This research is based on the theory of planned behavior, integrated with perceived playfulness as well as the two key perceived critical mass factors to conduct a questionnaire for the LINE users. Annalyzing the structural equation model collected by 472 valid questionnaires, the results showed subject norms and perceived behavioural controls are not significant to the intentional continual usage by the users. The perceived critical mass is the most important factor that influences it, in fact, it influences it more than the attitude and perceived playfulness.

Social influence could be seen in daily life. In the era of social networking, the effect of social influence connects with word of mouth (WOM) through the exchange of community members, and the sharing power of WOM takes effect to the following intention of theirs. Here comes some empirical cases. In order to enlarge users to register, the social networking websites, Facebook and Line, try to let their registered members fascinate relations and friends. The smartphone from China, Xiaomi, carried out with extremely high effect of WOM through the huge impact of fans. The president of the United States, Barack Obama, used the strategic of social networking websites to deepen the followers' attention, and then he won the election campaign in 2008. How should enterprises, brands or an individual cause some messages or products be influential and continuously catch publics' attention by using community platforms? It comes to the motivation and purpose of the study. The advancement of social networking sites has changed the way people interact. Understanding the user’s purposethrough self-disclosure to maintainand build relations with others hasbeen a major concern to website proprietors. Previous research has focused on the antecedent factors of self-disclosure, rather than examining its consequent effects. Therefore, this study is based on Krasnova et al.(2010) research on social exchange theory, which discusses the benefits(convenience of maintaining existing relationships, relationship building, self-presentation, enjoyment) and costs (perceived privacy pisk) users obtain from social networking sites, to investigate the self-disclosurebehavior of the members in social networking sites. Furthermore, this studyalso includes the beneficial effectsobtained from self-disclosure, such as social support and online socialwell-being, which was excluded in Krasnova et al. (2010). Last but not least, the continuance intention and effecttowards social networking sites. This study obtained a valid data of 317online surveys, with results showing that the two major factors for self-disclosure are self-presentation and enjoyment. Thus, website proprietors should encourage users to utilize the functions/accessories on the website that maintain an individual’s self-presentation, and through online games, increase the user’s enjoyment. Nonetheless, users that have gone through self-disclosure would achieve social support and online social well-being, urging support and continual useof the social network site. Hence, website proprietors should provide a substantial environment for users to interact with one another and toensure thesocial networking site’s sustainable operation. In recent years, the Taiwanese government has launched a national program known as the “Mobile-Taiwan” to make leisure services accessible via the mobile network and build a ubiquitous network environment that provides users with more digital services. This program also increases the accessibility of Location-based Services (LBS), which recreation providers have offered as a mobile value-added service. As LBS are growing in number, the mobile application (app) providers have focused on encouraging continuance intention of the services. This quantitative study focuses on the effects of quality perceptions (i.e., information quality, system quality, and service quality) on smartphone users’ trust and risk perceptions and continuance intention toward LBS. After a total of 1,500 valid questionnaires were returned, proposed hypotheses were tested. The results showed that system quality and service quality were positively related to perceived trust. It was also found that perceived trust correlated negatively with perceived risk but positively with continuance intention. A managerial implication drawn from the findings is that for LBS providers, developing user interfaces with more utility or providing timely, personalized services can reduce perceived risk and strengthen the continued usage intention of LBS.

In the information era of today’s 21st century, the rapid development of the Internet and communication technologies and the great progress of social networking not only shorten the distance between people, but also further change the living styles and communicating types of modern people. In fact, computers and the Internet have been the necessaries in our daily lives. Also, the applications of various sorts of social networking services are becoming a new messaging and interacting media of information exchange. The presence of the social networking sites (SNS) makes a user no longer an information recipient, but also an information disseminator. Hence, understanding users’ requirements, getting popular gathering, acquiring potential users and making users continuously use their social networking services are key factors for their sustainable operation in the future. Based upon the expectation confirmation theory (ECT), the researcher, in this study, integrates the perspectives of perceived values and flow experience to explore the factors affecting users’ continuance intention towards social networking sites. Through rigorous theoretical developing procedures, this study constructs a causal framework to predict users’ continuance intentions to use social networking sites. The survey research method was applied in this study. The instrument for data collection was meticulously developed for the conduction of the cross-sectional empirical survey. Concerning the statistical analysis of the collected empirical data, the descriptive statistics analysis and partial least squares (PLS) technique for the structure equation modeling (SEM) analysis were applied for validating measurement properties and the proposed hypotheses of the research model. The research findings are shown as follows: 1. The majority of the users of social networking service in this survey are college/university students aging from 19 to 29. 2. Regarding the uses of SNSs among the respondents of this study: Facebook is the number one choice; the second is Wretch; the third is Plurk; the next is Pixnet; and the last is mobile01 among the respondents of this study. 3. On average, the respondents of this study showed positive perceptions on the proposed influencing factors including users’ perceptions on expectation confirmation, satisfaction, flow experience, perceived values and continuance intention towards social networking sites. 4. For the validation of the plausible hypotheses of the conceptual framework, all of the proposed causal relationships were firmed supported by the PLS analysis results. The results of this study are expected to provide instrumental guidance to the owners and potential owners of social networking sites as well as serve as practical references to the researchers in social networking to understand the factors for improving users’ expectation, satisfaction and, continuance intention towards the use of SNS, and to strengthen users’ satisfaction and continuous usage by increasing the using and browsing rates of the websites. In the world of Internet, new technology or marketing strategies can be easily duplicated by competitors. As a result, there are little differentiating factors between the various websites. Hence, brand loyalty is hardly achieved. Taiwan used to have one of the highest growth rates in the Facebook community; the number of users quadrupled to 2.8 million within a short span of 2 months, and it has achieved nearly 10 million users to date. Now that brands can create their own fan page on the Facebook effortlessly, the more important issue is the ability to attract more fans and build brand loyalty. This paper classifies the community features into quality, experience, community sense and switching costs, followed by understanding their co-relations. We adopt the Structural Equation Modeling to explore the relationships amongst community features, loyalty, and continuance intention. The population used in this research consists of the Facebook fan page of various brands, with 606 samples in total. We adopt LISREL and SPSS to perform SEM analysis to verify the research model. The results have shown that community features are inter-related with the existence of intermediary pattern. Community quality is affected by switching costs and indirectly affects loyalty, and it is very apparent that loyalty has a direct impact on continuity preference. While switching costs has little direct impact on loyalty, higher community quality will create higher switching costs, thus improving user loyalty.

With the rise of smart wearable devices and the Internet of Things, gadgets from major brands can be seen wherever in the market. As indicated by Gartner's forecast, the worldwide market for wearable gadgets will reach 225 million in 2019. On the other hand, Taiwan's smart wearable devices market, in contrast to Europe and the United States, still has room for growth with immense unexplored opportunities. This potential is what triggered the inspiration for this study. With the direction of research clear, a framework of this study was built after reviewing extensive amounts of relevant literatures to explore whether the two perceptions of the Technology acceptance model (TAM) will affect users’ satisfaction and turn them into repeat customers. Furthermore, the innovation diffusion theory (IDT)'s perceived innovative features including comparative advantage, compatibility, verifiability, and observability were used as cause relations for the perceived usefulness and ease of use, and to investigate the impact of model construction. This study conducted an online survey covering smart wearable devices users at PTT and FACEBOOK, and collected 254 valid questionnaires. The statistical software SmartPLS3.0 and IBM SPSS Amos were used to conduct reliability check and path analysis of the questionnaires. The results showed that the users’ perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of the wearable device will positively affect satisfaction and their intention of continue use. And satisfaction also affects the users’ intention of continue use. In terms of perceived innovation characteristics, observability alone does not affect perceived usefulness and ease of use. In the wake of the outcomes, this study proposes academic proposals that make consequent research progressively complete. In practice, to improve user satisfaction and intention of continue use, this study suggests that the practicality and functionality of the wearable device are most crucial. The ease of start is also important. For the wearable device itself, the vendors or the manufacturer must feature its relative advantages with the past devices, matching the user's lifestyle or values, and let the users clearly understand the pros and cons of the wearable device. This study further proposes relevant limitations and recommendations for future research directions as a reference to the industry. Keywords: Smart wearable devices, technology acceptance model, innovation diffusion theory, user satisfaction, intention of continue use.
