Zine, Mohammed Chaouki. "Pratiques, usages, situations : Michel De Certeau, son contexte et sa postérité." Thesis, Aix-Marseille 1, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011AIX10180.
Full textThe historian, philosopher and anthropologist Michel de Certeau (1925–1986) stands out as a singular figure in the French intellectual landscape. The scope and depth of his work represent a decisive turning-point in the contemporary philosophical ideas. Though he retained the bulk of the teachings relating to historiography and mysticism, he introduced many philosophical and sociological themes to read the traditional and the modern world. Our work consists in examining the main idea according to which practices are customs or operations dependent on a situation. In order to do that, de Certeau uses a full array of notions such as the formality of practices, the strategy and the tactics along with other closely related concepts aiming at explaining social practices and what people do with the order proposed to or imposed on them. The purpose is to study the cautious and clever manner in which people bypass this order’s requirements in their manifold uses of space, time and memory. These rebellious customs are particularly expressed in everyday practices. This leads us to wonder how topical Certeau’s analyses are and how much they can affect today's reflections: what theoritical foundation is he relying on to study nature and the function of these practices? Have his reflections changed our approach to the social, cultural and political issues?

Full textThe identification of risk situations is essential in the process of MSD prevention: this identification called "MSD risk assessment" relies on the "simple" risk assessment tools to target critical situations. This thesis focuses on the difficulties of using simple tools in the initial phase of the MSD prevention process. This study, therefore, investigates the contribution of the field of ergonomics of activity and in particular Situational Operational Leeway (SOL) for MSD risk assessment tools. We identified and listed the SOL indicators based on the human-centered model of activity (Vézina, 2001), and then we analyzed the presence of these indicators in the simple tools with a self-developed checklist. Nine simple tools were used to assess a sample of 10 work stations in the manufacturing industry in France. Moreover, a list of indicators derived from three components of the human centered model of activity was proposed to explore the sufficiency of SOL in those work stations. The findings showed that the simple tools do not consider SOL indicators during an assessment and the various assessments with ten simple tools produced different results on the same work station. In general, the SOL indicators estimated the level of MSD risk lower than the evaluation of the simple tools. The SOL proposes to consider the resources available to the operator to interact with work situations and its challenges. Therefore, the difference between the assessments by the simple tools and the SOL indicators might be related to the focus of simple tools (oriented on constraints). This study showed that the SOL indicators could provide complementary information to that obtained by simple tools. These results propose a risk assessment approach that uses SOL sufficiency to target critical situations

Full textThis doctorate research tries to define precisely what I term a sculptural situation considering sculpture – ie historically still & perennial – as the meeting point of multiple temporalities. To elaborate this research I took my artistic pratice as a ground to inquire into. I did test several assumptions which have informed my latest works thereafter described. Furthermore, a greater attention was given to contemporary sculpture so as to open wider perspectives drawn from historical artistic practives & theories. I studied the relationship between sculpture & daily life and most specifically their being time-based experiences, as much during the making of the works as when perceived by a spectator. I was then able to study sculpture in relation to everyday objects : either through the introduction of the later in sculptures themselves or their possible reproduction or even the use that can be made of them. I thus established a typology of what I name usable sculpture, whose functionality is not an end in itself but is nevertheless a possible way of experiencing the work of art

Full textThe main purpose of this research is based on identifying and analysing the usages diversity of complex technical systems, Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), carried out by heterogeneous professional users so as to contribute to a typology of usages. The aim of the typology is to serve as an informational resource for the actors of the design process. This work revolves around two directions. ■ The first direction focuses on the analysis of the usages diversity so as to be able to put to the fore the structuring criteria. To this end, we propose a transversal analysis unit to all the activities: “the situated usages of a multi instrumented system (MIS)”. We define them as all the user’s actions directed towards a specific goal that performs a general and situated activity, and involves all or part of the MIS as a mediator or object of the activity. The MIS represents the sub-instrumental system built from a complex technical system by the user. The analyses are based on two sets of observations (exploratory and systematic ones) among a variety of users. The results show that there are wider dimensions to the several poles of the instrumented activity influencing the realization of the usages. Indeed, the user is having complex interrelations with the resources of his action and with the characteristics of the global activity allowed by the usages and the characteristics of the situation under which they are produced. Therefore there are different types of usages depending on the SMI position within the usage and the object of the usage.■ The second direction aims at a reduction of the usages diversity purpose so as to achieve of categorization. Creating a categorization implies the need to define an analysis unit that underlies the construction of categories and variables allowing their discrimination. To this end, we propose to highlight a second analysis unit, “the usages situations’ classes of a SMI”, to enable further generalization through variables that structure the usages. But the sole conception of a categorization is not sufficient enough compared to the company’s design characteristics and to the various informative needs of its actors. As a consequence we propose a first task to apprehend the understanding of the processes involved as well as the different agents’ assignments which contribute to this understanding and to the informational needs in terms of final users’ usages they may require. In order to do so, a series of semi structured interviews were held with those involved in design: 1) some tasks imply the necessity to take into account LCV usages; 2) the performing of distinct activities at various set times and/or design processes. The results offer guidelines to contribute to the evolution of the typology of usages. These various works conducted enable us to propose different ways of developing the existing typology of usages in the company. They cover two dimensions: 1) the data provided by typology itself and one’s way to present it; 2) the methodology used to update the data

Full textThis doctoral thesis aims at investigating the mechanisms playing a role in both human information behavior and situation awareness in order to develop pedagogical levers that could guide those behaviors. The work we present is part of an industrial project for the development of a serious game named 3DVOR, this game is targeting the risk management education within the operating room. First, we filmed 6 surgical operations that did not present any complications, then we created a simulation of a complex case of surgery to observe the informational behaviors of each member of the surgical team. Last, we elaborated a scenario allowing a learner to interact with virtual partners in order to observe the impact of their actions on the learners’ informational strategies. We analyzed the data in view of the literature on situation awareness and the Endsley’s model. Our results show that the information behaviors vary according to the expertise of the operators and the ambiguity of the situation. Experts adapt their strategies when the situation does not seem familiar and vary their sources of information to update their mental representation of the current situation. Finally, we showed that the engagement, even of virtual partners, modify the learners’ strategies of information processing while using a digital learning software

Full textOur work deals with the use of interactive whiteboard (IWB) in schools. We are particularly interested in the cognitive effects of three pedagogical potentials of the IWB on the teaching and learning in Cycle III of primary school in France. The study is conducted in primary classes 4 (CM1) and primary 5 (CM2) and focuses on the teaching and learning of the concept of fractions. The relationship between the use of IWB and the effects of these practices on student learning appears complex and raises many questions. This complexity comes primarily from the plurality of factors more or less involved in the teaching and learning process. To better understand this issue, our research focuses on the influence of the three themes of the IWB: 1. the technical educational interactivity supported by the use of IWB; 2. the terms and working ergonomics involved by the use of IWB; 3. Visual and manipulated multimodal media used on this digital instrument. This study focuses on theoretical elements used in research in the fields of education and disciplinary teaching to address this problem. We based our thinking, initially, on the notion of mediation by drawing on the instrumental approach according to Rabardel (1995). The tasks done in the classroom are in a collective framework. Secondly, we analyze, according to the theory of activity of Engeström (1987). Finally, we are inspired by the works of Piaget (1948) in order to understand the development and construction of the notion of fractions in children. Besides, in this research, the IWB is not isolated from other existing elements in the class but it is a techno-semiotic-pragmatic device (Peraya, 1999). From this point of view, the IWB meets three entities: the technic, the semiotics and the social. The IWB is seen as the set of interactions between these three areas: technological, technosocial and system of representations of the order of semiocognitif. The three fields of investigation of the IWB were conducted with a sample composed of students and teachers from the department of Rhone through questionnaires, direct field observations, interviews and pre and post testing. The objective of plurality of data construction tools was to confront the opinions obtained in order to consider the effects of three pedagogical potentials of the IWB on the teaching and learning of the concept of fractions. This research shows that IWB is a very useful tool for the teaching and learning of fractions. In particular, we found that the IWB promotes interactions between different actors in the classroom and the collective construction of knowledge. Teachers have particularlyemphasized the assistance the IWB has brought to the relational development of students and the singular facilitation the conceptualization of the concept of fractions. Visual and multimodal media manipulation of the IWB is also a cognitive aid for students in their learning

Full textThe collective equipments are constituted as values as a going concern intended to satisfy some social needs (functionalism), of which the subjacent requests and actions are rarely explained. So the questions raised concern the optimization (means), the satisfaction (aspirations) and the efficiency (social finalities). The special nature of the sociocultural equipments is to be urban equipments of social and cultural animation. They can't be reduced neither to simple infrastrutures, nor to collective atomized services. They appear at a point of intersection between: "space" and "use", "collective" and "local", "public" and "private". They are taken in a game of force's relations according to the institutionnal strategies (political parties, trade-unions, local organizations, associations, movements of urban struggles, users). Included into the socialization's process, they appear as true social-political and, to a lower extent, economical stakes. They are, at the time, "urban factor" and "object of realization", "structure-support of animation" and "element of social representation". Defined, for the general interest, as the market-out goods, from the sixties, the sociocultural equipments are depending on regularly planned or directed orientated systems. Often as guides, these dispositions permit approximate or even tendencious applyings. This normalization tends to a standardization of the object introducing the principle of cohesion in the realization. Illustrated by the toulouse situation. The sociocultural action maintains an educative constant (frompopular to permanent) through the changes observed since the end of the nineteenth century. But, the trends of a social economy become preponderant. Indicated in the toulouse context. The maladjustment of many realizations (various practises brought up for users) and the necessary adjustments to system's changes (the "mobilities") are translated into various forms of alteration. This element of social control calls for appropriation and sociability's talks which hide the problems of social order and economic property, the only ones able to question this power of control, in favour of the principal interested parties

This thesis suggest a comprehensive approach about definition of the impacts of this practice on entering adulthood by thirty persons who went to rave parties between 1990 and 2010. Really, evolutions of the rave and of categories of thought of the use of illicit psychoactives substances during this period have to be considered. In refer to work's N. E. ZINBERG, this use is defined as a social experience and and its individuals meanings are apprehended as results of subjectivation such as defined by V. DE GAULEJAC. After vérification of different meanings experience, the goal is incover the explanatory variables to the choice of one or other meaning, by integrating analysis of relation with stigma. Method is based on two principles of clinical sociology : the « co-construction » of the knowledge with interviewees and the analysis about impacts of interaction with the researcher on their remarks. The redirection toward a inductive and clinical analysis of stories and meanings provided an understanding of its variations expression of affects on an attribute what bring someone into disrepute, and an explaining its variations by “définition of situation”

Full textWithin the behavioral research in sales promotion, the product and brand usage is almost never taken into account by researchers, in spite of its relevance as a mediating variable between sales promotion and satisfaction or loyalty. This research, applied to clothing, aims at studying the direct effect of the product acquisition context; and more specially the effect of a price discount, seasonal and outlet sales; on consumer transaction-Specific satisfaction. Moreover, the indirect effect of brand usage frequency on the link between satisfaction and customer loyalty is studied. To address these research questions we used a diary method study. This study aims to monitoring every week consumer’s purchases and clothing usage. Our results indicate that if the transaction-Specific satisfaction with a brand is negatively linked to consumer loyalty, it is compensated by increased brand usage frequency. The more a consumer is satisfied with the transaction, the more he uses the product and is likely to be loyal to the brand. Thus, as consumer transaction-Specific satisfaction is higher for purchases during seasonal sales or outlet sales than without these offers, it allows indirectly brands to build consumer loyalty

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to explore places where the world of disability meets that of Argentine tango. In these spaces, which belong to specialized institutions or associative initiatives, people with disabilities, through the practice of Argentine tango, experience a unique relationship with their own body, the body of the other and modes of social skills different from the ordinary world. These activities also allow people without disabilities" to face others by the way of particular body and sensory modalities. By questioning these uses of the body through dance where aesthetics, forms and modes of sociability are the markers of a strong identity, this work questions the contemporary corporeality as well as the issues of assignment or inclusion which go through mediation practices. Based on a concept developed by Michel Foucault (Foucault, 2009), I qualify these spaces as inclusive heterotopia. The analysis and interpretation of the process of production of these heterotopic spaces, which take the form of workshops, balls or events are thus put into perspective of the discourses of inclusion that cross our societies. This exploration uses an inductive approach that required the collection of data from different sources: interviews, images, participant observation. The field study took place in diversified territories, in France, Austria and Uruguay, over a period of 4 years. Based on a comprehensive sociological approach, it is theoretically supported by multidimensional approaches (sociology of the body and the contemporary individual, sociology of disability, genealogy and aesthetics of Argentine tango, bodily mediations)

Full textWithin the Tactiléo project, we consider that the appropriation of a digital resource can be evaluated knowing that "design" and "use" are iterative processes. We propose a model of design and analysis of the uses of numerical resources based on three theoretical axes: The Theory of Didactic Situations (Brousseau, 1998) The Theory of Instrumental Genesis (Rabardel, 1995) and Theory of Activity, 1978, Vygotsky, 1978, Amigues, 2013). We constructed a methodology to evaluate the appropriation of digital resources interrogating us: how can the appropriation of a digital resource be evaluated during it is use? How can the results of the evaluation of the appropriation of a digital resource contribute to re-engineering it? And how to design and use a model of design and analysis of digital resources based on appropriation? The ICT as a communication means and/or learning tool medium adds new life to activity frameworks and teaching methods. Both fields of information and training can now work together because of : the use of on-line informational and pedagogical resources; new skills for managing incoming information in order to develop a more critical mindset to define how to use the resources. Strategic information survey is appropriate for identifying and ensuring the critical themes that determine the schemes' success. .

Full textAlzheimer's disease is most often regarded as the bad ageing disorder. It wreaks havoc in the physical and psychological lives of individuals concerned, and requires the support and help of numerous persons, in particular family caregivers. In order to reduce this burden many initiatives have been taken in the field of gerontechnology. Research and development in gerontechnologies are presently booming, both scientifically and industrially. Although these technologies were originally conceived to respond to the elderly's needs, few of them have actually been implemented in the aging persons' environment. Many projects stagnate at the conceptual level, others do not go beyond the building of a prototype. Nonetheless, sometimes these technologies arouse great hopes. When, however, they function badly or not at all, or when they are not developed beyond the prototype stage, disillusionment slowly destroys all the hope that patients and caregivers had invested in these technologies. M. Augé's anthropological approach helps us understand how people lay claim to public space, in a retirement home, for example. Places and spaces help shape each individual's personality and identity. Using the "lieu anthropologique" (anthropological place or space) [Augé, l992a] caregivers can more easily get to know the elderly's effective capacities in this domain. These skills should be analyzed in order to improve the construction of pertinent gerontechnological tools

Full textThe long operational lifecycle of systems and the uncertainty of the environment are a great challenge to engineers. Resilience enhances reliability and safety to take into account the unforeseeable situations, without precedent. The goal is to understand the situation to avoid an accident. The quality of the human-machine interaction is the key issue to achieve this goal. The state of the art explains that sociotechnical systems resilience completes safety approach. Implementaing resilience impacts both system architecture and systems engineering processes. At the end, implementing resilience impacts human-computer interaction, user centred design as well as architecture models. We created the design pattern “to monitor and alert” applied to the function “to avoid” of the resilience. Its goal is to give to the operators the capacity to understand the dynamics of the system, to control at sight vis-a-vis unforeseeable situations, in order to avoid an accident. The proposal contents the processes to be implemented to contribute to the resilience of long lifecycle critical systems. The application to the railway domain is based on the analysis of three accident technical reports. It is declined, on the processes to be implemented to contribute to the resilience of a system, on the design pattern “to monitor and alert” for the architecture of a resilient system and to propose improvements of the user interface. But these new practices can generate changes in organization and working time, which farmers assert to explain their difficulty to change. Our goal is to study these changes in the work and to design tools facilitating agroecological transitions of farmers. We have surveyed agricultural advisers and farmers to analyze the consulting service offer, and the nature of the work information that farmers need in order to implement new practices. Noting the inadequacy of the existing tools, we organized two tool design workshops with their future users. We have identified and described 28 tools that could be designed. Four prototypes were developed: a technical sheet informing about work changes, a quiz and a serious game to identify work changes for a farm, and a test logbook to record key information to establish an assessment of work competition management and organizational choices

According to the “2018 Global Water Sports Equipment Market Outlook", the underwater photography has grown rapidly in recent years. Especially in Middle-Eastern of Asia Pacific, the snorkeling and equipment markets are expected to be growing. When it comes to the global diving equipment market. A global market share of 65% in wet suits manufactured by SHEICO Group, demonstrating the strength of Taiwanese OEMs. Nowadays, many factories are gradually transforming their own brands. All brand manufacturers pursue the same goal of becoming the topnotch brand and the first choice among client’s hearts. In order to obtain bigger market share, they design products that meet consumer’s needs, planting brand images in their minds, and let the product’s performance bring in use’s engagement and support. In fact, most of the markets were toward to the European and American. Taiwanese brands still have a lot of room for growth. The literature on diving equipment is mostly research on the initial development of products in the early stages. In recent years, the research on diving equipment brands is relatively lacking. In order to explore brand marketing strategies precisely, it is necessary to understand the factors that influence the customer's selection of diving equipment. In addition, in the diving industry, diving instructors are opinion leaders of customers when purchase diving equipment. Therefore, the study focuses on the selection of purchasing factors for diving instructors. To sum up, this study is mainly about- 1. Factors that influence customers when they are buying diving equipment (e.g., SCUBA regulator or diving fins)? 2. Understanding whether these influential factors vary in the different usage situations (e.g., in recreation dive and in training dive)? 3. What influential factors are reflecting upon top diving brands? The research methods included expert interviews, and the Fuzzy Preference Relation method to calculate the weight of factors. This study revealed 1. The regulator is the most important in terms of product maintenance, service attitude, and brand attachment. And the influential factors of fins are portability, the public information, and the brand engagement are the greatest. 2. With higher product complexity and fewer product substitution options, the ordering of purchase factors will vary greatly depending on the usage situations. 3. The conclusion is referenced with the top three brands purchased from 30 research samples. This study found that stability of product quality is the basis for building customer trust. In addition, and perfect after-sales service is the key to success. The research value is expected to work for better diving experience and better diving products.

Upon using utensils, the users’ behaviors are influenced by the usage situations to a definite degree. Under different usage situations, people form different usage images toward the shapes of utensils. The present research investigated in the individual situations with the usages of mugs as examples, the relations between the feelings of usage images that users considered in accordance to the situations, and the images of composite movements of usages of mugs and the shapes of mugs. The present research was divided into the following 4 parts: 1) First, the various resultant situations from the investigation were deduced into 5 main groups of drinking situations, including “getting together”, “for leisure”, “in sickness”, “for hunger and thirst”, and “being accompanied” with Cluster Analysis. 2) In order to extract the Usage Image Vocabularies more suitable for the various situations, the feelings of usage images that users considered in accordance to their situations were investigated in the various situations. Subsequently the essential shape factors of the mugs were analyzed and specimens for computer simulation were produced according to Experiment Design. The usage image test of composite movements under various drinking situations was performed with the method of interactive tests. The results of the test were gained through investigating the corresponding relations of usage image structures and essential shape factors of mugs under different situations with Principal Components Analysis. The principal results from this part: in the situations of getting together, the taller and thinner shapes of mugs delivered images of straightforward grasping, while the flatter and wider shapes rather delivered images of polite and careful holding; the fan-shaped handles of mugs delivered images of warm and boisterous using, while the ear-shaped handles rather delivered images of lonely and poised using. In the situations for leisure, the shapes of the mugs without out-protruding rims delivered images of comfortable and cozy drinking, while the shapes with out-protruding mug rims delivered images of uncomfortable drinking; the fan-shaped mug handles delivered images of liberal and unrestrained holding, while the ear-shaped handles rather delivered images of restricted holding. In the situation of sickness, the arc-shaped handles delivered images of tired and weakened using, while the fan-shaped handles delivered images of invigorated using; the taller and thinner shape of mugs delivered images of difficult holding, while the flatter and wider shapes delivered images of easy-to-hold and convenient holding. In the situations for hunger and thirst, the taller and thinner shapes of mugs delivered images of gulping drinking, while the flatter and wider shapes delivered images of gustatory drinking; the shapes of mugs without out-protruding rim delivered images of pleasant and happy using, while the shapes of out-protruding rim rather delivered images of agonized using. In the situation of being accompanied, the shapes of non-ear-shaped handle delivered images of easy using, while the shapes of ear-shaped handles delivered images of excited using; the shapes of the taller and thinner mugs delivered images of elegant holding, while flatter and wider shapes delivered images of rude holding. 3) Subsequently, the Regressionship of the use concept evaluations of “good-to-use”, “thinking of using”, “love to use” and “used of using”, and the usage image was investigated with Regression Analysis. Found in the results of the research, the use concept evaluations are not only affected by holding movement, but also affected by entire movement under the situations of getting together, for hunger and thirst and being accompanied. But the use concept evaluations are not only affected by drinking movement, but also affected by entire movement under the situations of for leisure. Besides, under the situation of in sickness, the use concept evaluations of “good to use, thinking of using, and used to using” are not only affected by holding movement, but also affected by entire movement. However, the use concept evaluation of “love to use” is only affected by holding and drinking movement. 4) Finally, the differences of recognition of comprehensive evaluations on the 5 main drinking situations were investigated with ANOVA; the cause-effect relations between adverbial images and usage images and the shapes of the mugs under different situations were analyzed with hayasi’s ‘Quantification I’; and the regressionship of the holding and drinking movements of the mugs and the entire movements were investigated with Regression analysis. As a result, there was no significant difference in the evaluations of the users on “thinking of using, love to use, and used to using” under 5 groups of situations; but significant difference in the evaluations on good to use. Among 5 groups of situations, only the situation of “in sickness” is different from other 4 situations for the “good to use” of use concepts. Besides, the drinking movements of mug usages under 5 main groups of situations affected the entire movements to a lager degree; the shapes of mug’s handles to a larger degree affected the feelings of the entire usages.

Background: According to Ministry of the Interior’s report on physically and mentally disabled citizens living and demand assessment survey and report of the senior citizen condition survey, persons with disabilities had great difficulties in climbing up and down stairs. Stair chair lifts are assistive products for vertical accessibility, and the performance and operation safety of the products should be regulated. However, current building regulations and national standards are not adequate for installing and using stair chair lifts. Few studies have investigated the safety and quality of stair chair lifts used in Taiwan. Purpose: To investigate the performance of stair chair lifts and its usage situation. Methods: A field study to investigate 30 cases of stair chair lifts installed in public building (n=23) and private houses (n=7) in Taiwan. The survey focused on installation, building structure and environment, the reason to install, and usage. Survey results were presented using descriptive statistics. Results: The rated speed of the stair chair lifts in the direction of travel shall be not greater than 0.15 m/s. All stair chair lifts surveyed in this study met with international standard. The rated load shall be not less than 115kg. The stair chair lifts installed in public buildings cases were 87.0% met with the international standard, and those in the private cases were 85.7% met with the international standard. Stair chair lifts shall have emergency/manual operation, survey results showed public buildings cases were 69.6% and the private cases were 85.7% met with standard. Some cases in public buildings (8%) had no safety belts. But, it showed only 2 cases (6.7%) met the building codes to install the rail of stair chair lifts within 10 cm to the wall and 50 cm above the ground. The reasons to install stair chair lifts in public buildings were for the needs of the elderly (61%) and of persons with mobility disabilities (40%), and for regulations and evaluation (26%). The reason to install stair chair lifts in the private houses was to solve the difficulties in climbing up and down stairs for family members (100%). Conclusion: The stair chair lifts specifications and function do not totally meet with international standard. The installation of most stair chair lifts violates the current building codes.

Teachers and the Situation of the P.E. Management of the Elementary Schools in Taipei County ” designed by the researcher. This study of the survey was based on the all types of public elementary schools in Taipei County. The question -naire takers were 200 P.E. directors who dealt with the P.E. teaching affairs in the school. 126 of the surveys had been returned and the valid return rate was 63%. Data collected was analyzed by descriptive calculating, based on both the frequency and the percentage, and the results of the study were as follows: 1.The situation of the usage of the P.E. teachers of all the types of elementary schools in Taipei County: i.The personnel background of the teachers: According to the data by the returned questionnaires, there were 144.56 teachers of the average in the large-type schools which had over 61 classes; 70 teachers in the medium-type schools which had 13-60 classes; and 13.83 teachers in the small-type schools which had fewer classes than 12. Among the 3 types of the schools that possess the teachers graduated from the department of P.E., the maximum was 4.74 teachers for the average in the large-type schools, the secondary was 2 teachers in the small-type schools, and the minimum was 0.48 teachers in the small-type schools. According to the percentage of the physical teachers who graduated from P.E. department among the teachers in the school; the maximum was the small-type schools (3.47%), the second most was the large-type schools (3.28%), and the minimum was the medium-type schools (2.86%). This survey also discovered that the rate of the professional P.E. teachers who graduated from P.E. department in Taipei County was quite low, largely less than 50%. ii.The background of the P.E. directors: The rate of the P.E. directors who possessed professional backgrounds in Taipei County was 48.78% in the large-type schools, 39.53% in the medium-type schools, and 14.29% in the small-type schools. As for the average of the working years in the school, there were 7.29 years in the large-type schools, 6.83 years in the medium-type schools, and 4.13 years in the small-type schools. The average of the teaching classes of the P.E. directors in the small-type schools was the most numerous, about 17 classes. The second most was the medium-type schools, about 15.34 classes. The fewest was the large-type schools, about 10.73 classes. This survey also discovered that the average of the teaching classes of the P.E. directors who taught physical classes was the lowest in the small-type schools; the lowest for the rate of the frequency of the exercises a week; also having the least percentage of guiding school sport teams. iii.As for employing the P.E. teachers: Based on the appointment of being the P.E. teachers, this study offered 5 choices: educational background, technical skills, teaching experience, assigned classes, and the willingness of the teachers. The survey takers can make multiple choices. To classify into 4 types --- large-type schools, medium-type schools, small-type schools, and the whole county among the returned questionnaires. The conclusion was that the rate of the assigned classes was the highest. 2.The situation of the management of the P.E. teachers of the all types elementary schools in Taipei County: i.The opinions of the P.E. directors toward the general P.E. development in schools: Most of the P.E. directors of all type schools in Taipei County all agreed that the school authorities were concerned about P.E. very much (the lowest rate of the medium-type schools approached to 69.77%); as for the reasons for being concerned, it was concluded that the enthusiasm of the teachers was the most important one (57.14%). The conception of the principal was the second (37.30%). Among all the types of the elementary schools, the most emphasized sport item was track and field. The difficulty of developing physical education in schools, all agreed, was that the lack of both the budget and the professional teachers were the most important reasons. (Both were more than 50%). ii.As for the P.E. teaching: Among all the types of elementary schools in Taipei County, most of the P.E. classes, more than half, were still carried out by the all-time teachers and the professional P.E. teachers in parallel. The rate was quite low, for established P.E. teaching committees in school, less than 1/3. As for the test of the proficiency in physical education, it approached 1/4 of the schools in Taipei County, which were not yet put to practice. In Taipei County, the arrangement of the P.E. curriculums was assigned mostly to the teachers (41.94%), standard curriculum designed by the Department of the Education (34.68%), and designed by the school itself (23.39%). There were fewer schools, less than 1/3, to carry out the written tests. And only (9.68%) schools put the P.E. on the homepage of the school website. iii.As for the after-school activities: The study discovered that the most popular school sport teams were track and field, dodge ball, and table tennis and in that order among 29 items in the elementary schools in Taipei County; and there were 2.4 school sport teams for the average of each school. The most popular sport clubs were track and field, basketball, and table tennis in that order; and there were 3 sport clubs for the average of each school. Among the all types elementary schools in Taipei County, the usual inter-class sport competitions of the 89th academic year were dodge ball, relay races, and tug of war; 2.7 competitions from each school had been held that year. Among the campuses in Taipei County, badminton, table tennis, and basketball were made up mostly by the teachers, and the most popular sport for the community residents who used the school exercising field was dancing.

Full textIn Quebec, the officer has the authority to enforce various laws and to maintain order. Since the police officer may be faced with a multiplicity of problems, he is, in certain circumstances, forced to use physical force to protect himself or to protect any person against death or serious injury. However, although the phenomenon of police force raises a good number of criticism and it is widely publicized, only a few studies have connected individual, situationnal and contextual factor to police use of force practices. The purpose of this thesis is to examine and to understand the phenomenon of police use of force in Quebec by identifying individual, situational and contextual factors on levels of police force. The data for the current study are derived from three primary sources : the incident reports of use of force of a Canadian police force for a period covering the years 2007 to 2011, 2006 Canadian Census and Uniform Crime Reporting Survey (UCR). The use of multilevel models reveals that several factors have an impact on the level of police use of force. Individual and situationnal findings suggest that police are more likely to use higher level of force when they encounter males, citizens who physically resist and citizens who possess or display a weapon. Contextual findings indicate that the proportion of racial heterogeneity and concentrated disadvantage have an impact on levels of police force. Findings lead us to conclude that the nature of the immediate situation (individual and situational factors) is one of the most prominent explanations for police decision making, but police behavior can also be accounted for by variation in demographic and institutional characteristic of communities. However, further studies are needed to verify the consistency of our results.

Full textThis thesis argues that police intervention in a crisis context focuses specifically on the use of force by specialized intervention teams. The interest in this study pinpoints mainly the lack of empirical data on the subject. Therefore, the main objective is to understand how to explain the use of force by specialized intervention teams and to verify if these factors vary according to the type of threat police encounter in a particular situation. We studied 438 suicidal crises, barricade and hostage-taking situations that occurred in Quebec from 1990 to 2011, supervised by the Sûreté du Québec’s tactical intervention group (GTI). To begin with, for a better understanding of this issue, we will compare individuals according to the level of risk each one represents, i.e. those presenting a threat only to themselves, those presenting a danger to others and those who pose a threat to themselves and others. Secondly, despite the fact that almost 90 % of critical incidents end in a non-violent conclusion, it is interesting to understand the risk factors involved that explain the use of force by the police and to realize that these factors vary according to the level of risk exhibited by the individual in crisis. Descriptive analyses were used to demonstrate that the situation where the individual in crisis was a threat only to himself differed from other instances based on different variables. Overall, the general level of risk for this type of intervention is less significant since the danger appears to be directed specifically to the individual in crisis, taking into consideration that negotiation has been successful, also, considering the subject has limited or no access to firearms, and considering weapons are not frequently used. Bivariate analysis relating the different characteristics of the individual, the situation and negotiation with the use of force by the police, suggest that certain variables can have different effects depending on the type of threat facing authorities. For example, a history of psychiatric issues would increase the risk of police intervention among those who pose a non-aggressive threat to himself, but would decrease the probability of police intervention for those individuals who present a double threat, i.e. to themselves and others. Consequently, bivariate analyses suggest that certain variables, such as the possession of a weapon by an individual, the degree of intoxication, the presence of known psychiatric issues, the duration of the first contact with the police and the quality of the negotiation, could influence the use of force by police officers. Logistic regression analyses indicate that few of these variables resist multivariate analyses. These findings suggest that police intervene more so when there is no contact established with the individual, and this, regardless of the type of threat manifested. On the contrary, a non-satisfactory negotiation would encourage police to use force in cases where the individual presents no threat to himself. In sum, these multivariate analyses show that the police are less influenced by the type of threat, rather preferring negotiation as long as possible.

The study analysed players who are from the quarter final in the 2014 National High School Athletic Games(all about Fu Cheng Senior High School players). Games were recorded by video and record those players’ gripping mode from preliminaries to the final game. The gripped mode, three stage skill, and strategy were recorded by 3 A-level coaches. By this way, we can analse high school students’ skill in actual situation. Moreover, we can review the advantage and disadvantage for future training, and enhance their level of skill. The scoring rates of Three-Part Skill are as follow:No.1234 player 48.9%、39.1%、12%, No.1235 player 40.6%、28.1%、31.3%,and No.1240 player 33.1%、35%、32%. The usage rates of Three-Part Skill are as follow:No.1234 player 42.6%、43.3%、14.1%, No.1235 player 38.4%、33.2%、28.2%,and No.1240 player 28.2%、35.1%、36.6%.The overall average of usage rate showed that Three-Part Skill is used more in the section of attack after serve part and attack on return serve part. Conclusion: The research shows that players of Kaohsiung Municipal Fu Cheng Senior High School mainly use quick attack combining top spin and top spin combining quick attack. If they could participate more national events, and train themselves to strengthen their advantages and improve shortcomings. Someday, they can greatly enhance their personal achievement."
