Abstract:
Background: Peripheral neuropathy (PNP) is among the commonest neurological disorders. NP is a disorder of sensory or motor neurons. Peripheral NP impacts around 60-100% of cases admitted for dialysis units due to chronic kidney disease (CKD). In dialysis-dependent patients, a progressive uremic sensorimotor axonal NP is a well-known complication. Nevertheless, the precise polyneuropathy (PNP) among CKD patients has to be further investigated especially in our country. Objectives: This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the incidence of polyneuropathy among Iraqi uremic patients undergoing hemodialysis. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on patients 215 patients (99 women and 116 men). All participants were suffering from ESRD were assessed by expert specialists, aging 17-80 years, attending hemodialysis unit, receiving standardized maintenance hemodialysis. All patients had completed neurophysiological assessment in the same hospital, for sensory and motor nerves including median, ulnar, tibial, peroneal, and sural nerves, regardless of whether they had clinical findings of NP or not. SPSS (V-25) software was used for statistical analysis. A confidence level of 95% had considered significant. Results: Mean age and weight of patients was (48.16 ±13.4 years and 66.9 ± 12.9 kg), respectively, and the mean duration of dialysis was 4.7 ± 1.4 years. The majority of patients (85.1%) had a frequency of dialysis three times/week. The prevalence of UNP was 63.7% among the studied candidates. More than half of patients (51.8%) presented with moderate UPN, (29.2%) with mild UPN, and (19. 0%) with severe UPN (P<0.05). There were significant differences between means of age and frequency of dialysis with the incidence of UPN. Conclusion: Polyneuropathy is a very common complication in patients with uremia undergoing dialysis. Polyneuropathy is not associated with the frequency of dialysis, but with a duration of uremia.

Abstract:
Abstract Porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) is caused by a uroporphomethene (UPN) inhibitor of uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase (Phillips, JD et al, Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2007 104(12):5079–84). In the absence of the inhibitor very little uroporphyrin (URO) is secreted in the urine and the excreted URO is predominantly the isomer-III (URO-III). In contrast, in patients with PCT and mice with experimental PCT the predominant porphyrin excreted in urine is uroporphyrin-I (URO-I). Direct measurements of uroporphyrinogen III synthase activity (UIIIS) in mice with PCT have shown no reduction in activity indicating that an alternate mechanism is responsible. We hypothesized that oxidation of a single bridge carbon of HMB, the product of the porphobilinogen deaminase reaction, is the initial event leading to the porphomethene. Our structural data indicate that oxidized HMB cannot serve as a substrate for UIIIS (Schubert, HL et al, Biochem J. 2008 47(33):8648–55) but can non-enzymatically cyclize to form UPN I. UPN I would then serve as the inhibitor of uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase but and then be fully oxidized to yield URO-I. To test this hypothesis we generated authentic UPN’s I and III. URO’s I and III were reduced with palladium on carbon to yield uroporphyrinogens (Uro’gen) I and III. UPN’s I and III were then generated by controlled photo-oxidation of the corresponding Uro’gens. We then utilized LC-MS to separate and characterize the synthesized UPN’s. Retention times of the two compounds differed by approximately 1 min (UPN III elutes prior to UPN I) but the profile of the daughter ions derived from the UPN’s (molecular mass 835 Da) was identical. The same approach was applied to clarified liver cytosol from mice with experimental PCT. The retention time of the 835 Da UPN identified in mouse liver cytosol corresponded to that of the synthesized UPN I and yielded identical daughter ions. These data support the hypothesis that oxidation of HMB leads to formation of UPN I in vivo. This is concordant with our view that UPN I serves both as the inhibitor of URO-D and as the source of the excess URO-I found in PCT.

Abstract:
The Theatre of Nations - Théâtre des Nations - was the unique place of confrontation of international theatrical, lyric and choreographic creations from 1957 till 1968. The biggest festival of theatre in the world concentrated forces able to perpetuate the values of theatre and to change the structures of theatre directory in depth. After the traumatism of World War II, this Festival contributed to launch in Europe a will of opening to the world. By welcoming authors challenging their visions on the Parisian stages, it confirmed the actuality of an international community of theatre. Barely known at the time, most of these authors are today the grand masters of the XXth and XXIst century. By receiving also revolutionary creators, the festival blew a wind of youth and freedom forecasting May 68 events. The analysis of previous similar attempts helps to understand the context of its emergence and the definition of its three missions which allowed exploring in eleven years an endless field of culture for the benefit of the professionals, the artists and the audience: the discovery of the major traditions coming from four continents, the research of new forms of scenic arts, and the consecration of the most prestigious theatre companies. A sociological and historical approach helps also to analyze this phenomenon which was involved in the biggest questions of its time, among them the after war resumption of political and diplomatic relationships, and the recognition of the rights of artists born in totalitarian countries or ancient colonies. The most international of all international festivals remains what it always was, a challenge to the world

Studying fashion in USSR under Khrushchev helps to understand the impact of the political and economic situation on the Soviet society and everyday life. The compétition with the West has as a consequence the emergence of socialist fashion concept that aims to normalise the appearance of Soviet people through education of their taste. The reform aimed at satisfying needs in clothes confronts planned economy with the problem to find a balance between the offer and the demand, to take changes in fashion into account. The opening of the Soviet society to the West results in the emergence of official and informal channels of transfers of Western fashion to USSR. The diversity of tendencies in fashion and culture of shortages give a birth to various strategies of clothes acquisition. Consumer cultures formed of various combinations of the strategies reflect not only individual reactions to the situation, but also social stratification and cohesion

Abstract:
Start-ups face several issues and challenges in the course of their development as a compa-ny. Open innovation has been discussed in research for more than a decade as a concept, which can bring benefits to a company. Even though most of the research has been focus-ing on large enterprises, some researchers discuss also benefits for small companies like start-ups. Nevertheless, it can be observed that some start-ups decide to adopt the opposite of open innovation, namely closed innovation, through not sharing internal knowledge to the outside world. Hence, start-ups perceive the benefits of open innovation differently and decide accordingly whether to adopt open innovation or not. The purpose of this study is to explore if start-ups decide to actually do the former and what reasons they have to do so. Therefore, this study will further discover at what point in the development of their start-up and with whom they adopt open innovation. As an attractive industry for start-ups, the mobile services industry is selected as a scope for this study. Furthermore, Sweden is selected as the country of study, due to its reputation as one of the most innova-tive countries in the world. A qualitative study has been conducted using in-depth interviews with founders and co-founders of start-ups to retrieve narrative stories about their start-up’s development from the first day of an idea to a scalable business, and their experiences and motivations in re-gards to the application of open innovation practices. The analysis of this study detects pat-terns among the interviewed start-ups and concludes that start-ups in the mobile services industry in Sweden adopt open innovation in each phase of their development process. Furthermore, these patterns include several reasons why the start-ups applied open innova-tion practices and with whom, which are changing over the course of their development.

Ratzinger, Daniel. "The impact of university education upon digital start-ups." Thesis, University of Nottingham, 2017. http://eprints.nottingham.ac.uk/38838/.

Full text
Abstract:
With a worldwide shift towards a knowledge economy, universities are seen as a fundamental driver of economic growth. While previous studies have focused on universities’ more direct commercialisation activities, this research investigates the relatively unexplored influence of university education upon graduate entrepreneurship. By considering the digital economy, this exploratory study examines a fast growing sector where knowledge is considered to be a core asset. A global open dataset of digital start-ups is used to evaluate universities’ contribution to the performance of these ventures through the provision of formal technical, business or more general education. The impact of this human capital contribution on the probability of being a habitual entrepreneur in this industry sector, as well as the impact on the probability and rate of reaching the equity investment milestones of “funding” and “exit” were investigated. Prior to the data analysis, using computer science methods, unsupervised algorithms were developed to pre-process and transform the crowd-sourced dataset by linking multiple existing data sources, and it was demonstrated that this approach allows sophisticated natural language processing challenges to be overcome with relatively low technical capabilities. The consequent analysis of the transformed dataset reveals that: (1) having a founder with a university qualification significantly increases the probability of securing funding and successful exit; (2) having a founder with a university qualification in business significantly decreases the duration at which the first funding is secured and exit is achieved; (3) having a technical university qualification has no impact on the duration to securing funding, and increases the duration to exit. Following the empirical analysis, models for digital start-up teams are proposed. The thesis concludes that a consideration of the heterogeneous influence of different types of university qualifications reveals novel insights into the relationship between human capital and new venture performance.

Abstract:
Recently, it is quite difficult to find an area for cultivation in the city, therefore, the backyard area in every family house in the city is also used as a farming area known as the urban farming system. The Farmer Group in the city of Yogyakarta, namely the Wijaya Kusuma Farmer Group (WK), has developed this urban farming system in their home yards by growing vegetables and fruits. With the COVID pandemic, they plan to cultivate empon-empon, herbal plants which have benefits to increase the body immunity or known as biopharmaceutical crops. Meanwhile, the Lombok Ijo Farmer Group (LI), which is in the same area as the WK, is more oriented towards making a healthy beverage from empon-empon. However, in this pandemic situation, the price of raw material for herbal drink has increased significantly. In this case, a collaboration between those two farmer groups is needed by utilizing the empon-empon cultivation produced from the WK to meet the raw material needs for herbal drinks produced by the LI. To ensure that both farmer gro ups reach good quality products and able to meet the standards for developing SMSE, it needs to assist in cultivation, post-harvest processing, until product packaging, and marketing by training.

Abstract:
The research conducted by lecturers and students at a university has a strong correlation with the quality of the institution. Unfortunately, the culture of writing and researching is still far from expectation. Meanwhile, some departments in the institution still manually collected the articles from the lecturer or researchers that takes big effort and time to produce a single volume of the journal. This research was conducted to improve research culture in the Petroleum Engineering Department by optimizing a well-known online submission system called Open Journal System (OJS) that has been used in several departments. OJS is configured and optimized based on lessons learned from existing journals so that it could ease the lecturers to submit and the reviewers to examine the articles. The methodology in this research includes identifying existing problems and constraints, creating questionnaires that were distributed to lecturers and students, analyzing the results of the questionnaire and the obstacles, developing and introducing this system to students and lecturers. From the questionnaire result, some problems were identified and subjected to be solved. At the end of the research, the lecturers gave good feedback to the online journal system for its simple view and easiness of publication.

Abstract:
The Coronavirus (Covid-19) has hit almost all countries in the world. Cases of Covid-19 sufferers continue to grow. The impacts are also multidimensional, from economic to social. It is not easy for governments to deal with this global spreading pandemic. During the Covid-19 epidemic, controversy arose in the public space regarding government discourse and policies in dealing with Corona and its effects. These various controversies occurred due to the inadequate public understanding of the policies for handling Covid 19. The government is considered stuttering in responding to the situation and shows a failure to deliver good communication to the public. The research problem's formulation is: What is the content of controversy and polemic over government policies in handling COVID-19 from March 2020 to May 2020 in online media. The research method used is quantitative with a content analysis approach. There are three policy contents analyzed, which are sourced from the three news media portals most accessed in Indonesia based on the Alexa website ranking. As a result, there are three main conclusions in this study. First, in communicating government policies, the president is still at the forefront of delivering systems. Second, the guidelines issued by the government are mostly macro policies dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. Third, the impact resulting from government policies' communication on handling the Covid-19 epidemic has caused chiefly controversy.

Abstract:
Batik Giriloyo is the oldest written batik center in Yogyakarta. The Batik Giriloyo tradition has a strong emotional connection with the Kraton Yogyakarta tradition due to the development of the courtiers who guarded the tombs of the kings in Imogiri. This historical background makes the Batik Giriloyo motifs have a strong market in a storytelling marketing platform. So far, sales of Batik Giriloyo have relied on direct sales. However, the Covid-19 outbreak caused sales to decline. Changes in consumer behavior will have a permanent impact on sales not anticipated. Changes in consumer social behavior will change their shopping behavior. Reduced contact (less contact) will be a threat. For information technology to be the preferred way of selling, several studies have stated that technology will be useful in supporting the sustainability of people's lives. On the other hand, technology is less able to persuade. This research tries to make a promotional model based on storytelling by utilizing technology 4.0 as a marketing medium. The method used is the exploratory method. Exploration is used to find potential stories in Batik Giriloyo. The results show that the Batik Giriloyo motif has various background stories that are very philosophical. Starting from the philosophy of Javanese Culture, Environmental Philosophy, and history.
