Abstract:
This paper proposes a backward-compatible multichannel audio codec based on downmix and upmix operation. The codec represents a multichannel audio input signal with downmixed mono signal and spatial parametric data. The encoding method consists of three parts: spatial temporal analysis of audio signal, compressing multi-channel audio into mono audio and encoding mono signals. The proposed codec combines high audio quality and low parameter coding rate and the method is simpler and more effective than the conventional methods. With this method, its possible to transmit or store multi-channel audio signals as mono audio signals.

Abstract:
This letter presents theoretical, algorithmic, and experimental results about nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) with the Itakura-Saito (IS) divergence. We describe how IS-NMF is underlaid by a well-defined statistical model of superimposed gaussian components and is equivalent to maximum likelihood estimation of variance parameters. This setting can accommodate regularization constraints on the factors through Bayesian priors. In particular, inverse-gamma and gamma Markov chain priors are considered in this work. Estimation can be carried out using a space-alternating generalized expectation-maximization (SAGE) algorithm; this leads to a novel type of NMF algorithm, whose convergence to a stationary point of the IS cost function is guaranteed. We also discuss the links between the IS divergence and other cost functions used in NMF, in particular, the Euclidean distance and the generalized Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence. As such, we describe how IS-NMF can also be performed using a gradient multiplicative algorithm (a standard algorithm structure in NMF) whose convergence is observed in practice, though not proven. Finally, we report a furnished experimental comparative study of Euclidean-NMF, KL-NMF, and IS-NMF algorithms applied to the power spectrogram of a short piano sequence recorded in real conditions, with various initializations and model orders. Then we show how IS-NMF can successfully be employed for denoising and upmix (mono to stereo conversion) of an original piece of early jazz music. These experiments indicate that IS-NMF correctly captures the semantics of audio and is better suited to the representation of music signals than NMF with the usual Euclidean and KL costs.

Abstract:
The acoustic melt stream velocity field, total force, and trajectory of fluorescent particles in the plasticizing chamber were analyzed using finite element simulation to investigate the acoustic streaming and mixing characteristics in ultrasonic plasticization micro-injection molding (UPMIM). The fluorescence intensity of ultrasonic plasticized samples containing thermoplastic polymer powders and fluorescent particles was used to determine the correlation between UPMIM process parameters and melt mixing characteristics. The results confirm that the acoustic streaming driven mixing occurs in ultrasonic plasticization and could provide similar shear stirring performance as the screw in traditional extrusion/injection molding. It was found that ultrasonic vibrations can cause several melt vortices to develop in the plasticizing chamber, with the melt rotating around the center of the vortex. With increasing ultrasonic amplitude, the melt stream velocity was shown to increase while retaining the trace, which could be altered by modulating other parameters. The fluorescent particles are subjected to a two-order-of-magnitude stronger Stokes drag force than the acoustic radiation force. The average fluorescence intensity was found to be adversely related to the distance from the sonotrodes’ end surface, and fluorescence particles were more equally distributed at higher parameter levels.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge of physical education students about sports injuries using the PRICES method at UPMI Medan. This research is a descriptive study, with data collection techniques using survey methods. The research instrument uses a knowledge test in the form of true-false. The population in this study was 40 students of the Physical Education Program. The data analysis technique used descriptive with percentage. The results showed that: very high category of 22.50% (9 people), high category of 35% (14 people), moderate category of 25% (10 people), low category of 13% (5 people), and very low by 5% (2 people). These results can be concluded that the knowledge of physical education program students about early handling of sports injuries using the PRICES (Protect Rest Ice Compression Elevation Support) method at UPMI Medan is in the high category.

With the wide application of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMSs), especially the rapid development of wearable flexible electronics technology, the efficient production of micro-parts with thermoplastic polymers will be the core technology of the harvesting market. However, it is significantly restrained by the limitations of the traditional micro-injection-molding (MIM) process, such as replication fidelity, material utilization, and energy consumption. Currently, the increasing investigation has been focused on the ultrasonic-assisted micro-injection molding (UAMIM) and ultrasonic plasticization micro-injection molding (UPMIM), which has the advantages of new plasticization principle, high replication fidelity, and cost-effectiveness. The aim of this review is to present the latest research activities on the action mechanism of power ultrasound in various polymer micro-molding processes. At the beginning of this review, the physical changes, chemical changes, and morphological evolution mechanism of various thermoplastic polymers under different application modes of ultrasonic energy field are introduced. Subsequently, the process principles, characteristics, and latest developments of UAMIM and UPMIM are scientifically summarized. Particularly, some representative performance advantages of different polymers based on ultrasonic plasticization are further exemplified with a deeper understanding of polymer–MIM relationships. Finally, the challenges and opportunities of power ultrasound in MIM are prospected, such as the mechanism understanding and commercial application.

There are many reasons behind teenage smoking behavior where smoking behavior is a dysfunction of the individual itself and the environment. This can be seen from the study of the development of adolescents who started smoking associated with the crisis of psycho-social aspects experienced during development, when a teenager is looking for identity. The efforts to find that identity, not all can go according to the desired expectations. Some adolescents do smoking as a compensatory method because there are some parties that have a big influence in the socialization process. Smoking behavior usually begins in adolescence even though the process of becoming a smoker has started since childhood. Adolescence is also an important period of risk for the development of long-term smoking behavior. In addition, smoking behavior is the entrance to other negative behaviors such as drug abuse and drinking alcohol. In this study researchers sought the influence of smoking behavior on the risk of drug abuse. The data in this study were obtained by distributing evaluation questionnaires to students. The results of this study obtained information about the effect of smoking behavior on the risk of drug abuse. The benefit of this research is to provide information to students about the dangers of smoking and the risk of drug abuse. The aim of this research is to produce information about the dangers of smoking and the risk of drug abuse. The results of this study indicate that smoking behavior among students at the Indonesian Community Development University (UPMI) majority has moderate smoking behavior. both of these studies see the risk of drug abuse in students at the Indonesian Community Development University (UPMI), the majority is not at risk. third, this study found a significant effect between smoking behavior and the risk of drug abuse on students at UPMI.Keywords: Smoking, Behavior, Drug, Abuse.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat efektifitas model pembelajaran blanded learning, perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemandirian belajar mahasiswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Blended Learning dengan yang diajarkan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemandirian belajar siswa ketika diajar menggunakan metode Blended Learning dan konvensional. Metode penelitian ini adalah quasi-eksperimental dengan Posstest Only Control Group Design dengan analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan di UPMI Medan. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa UPMI, sedangkan sampelnya adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Manajemen. Penelitian ini menemukan bahswa model pembelajaran blanded learning efektif digunakan dengan persentase keterlaksanaan pembelajaran senilai 94.12% dan respon mahasiswa 89.50%. kemudian terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemandirian belajar antara mahasiswa kelas eksperimen dan kontrol, yang dibuktikan dengan nilai sig. (2-tailed) 0,00 0,05 antara kelompok kontrol dan eksperimen. Studi ini juga menemukan peningkatan yang lebih besar dalam kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemandirian belajar mahasiswa yang diajar menggunakan Blended Learning dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional, seperti yang terlihat dari skor rata-rata 76.12 (kelompok eksperimen) dan 58.00 (kelompok kontrol), menunjukkan peningkatan 12,04 %.

Abstract:
Abstract In this study we analyzed the mandibular cortical bone of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and non-diabetic. Fifty patients with T1DM and 100 non-diabetic ones paired by age and gender were analyzed. Two double-blinded observers evaluated 150 digital panoramic images of both groups. The mandibular cortical bone was analyzed using the Mandibular Cortical Index (MCI), Mental Index (MI), Gonial Index (GI), Antegonial Index (AI) and Upper and Lower Panoramic Mandibular Indexes (UPMI and LPMI), with the aid of RADIOIMP® software. Influence of T1DM in the morphology of the mandibular cortical bone was studied based on obtaining data related to T1DM diagnosis time, blood glucose level, T1DM control and the presence of chronic complications. Collected data were submitted to descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and inferential analyzes (Pearson’s chi-squared test and Fisher’s exact test) (p≤0.05). According to the MCI, individuals with T1DM had higher frequencies of mandibular cortical alterations, in both sexes and all age groups (p<0.01). For quantitative indexes, MI, GI, AI, UPMI and LPMI, female patients showed statistically significant differences for GI and AI, while male patients had statistically significant differences for all indexes (p<0.05), presenting the individuals with TDM1 inferior measures. Individuals with poor T1DM control showed significantly higher frequency of mandibular cortical alteration (92.3%), with lower means for MI, GI, AI and LPMI (p≤0.05). In conclusion, patients with T1DM showed decrease in the mandibular cortical bone when compared to non-diabetic ones, indicating that poor disease control is associated with these alterations.

Understanding the properties of polymer–metal interfacial friction is critical for accurate prototype design and process control in polymer-based advanced manufacturing. The transient polymer–metal interfacial friction characteristics are investigated using united-atom molecular dynamics in this study, which is under the boundary conditions of single sliding friction (SSF) and reciprocating sliding friction (RSF). It reflects the polymer–metal interaction under the conditions of initial compaction and ultrasonic vibration, so that the heat generation mechanism of ultrasonic plasticization microinjection molding (UPMIM) is explored. The contact mechanics, polymer segment rearrangement, and frictional energy transfer features of polymer–metal interface friction are investigated. The results reveal that, in both SSF and RSF modes, the sliding rate has a considerable impact on the dynamic response of the interfacial friction force, where the amplitude has a response time of about 0.6 ns to the friction. The high frequency movement of the polymer segment caused by dynamic interfacial friction may result in the formation of a new coupled interface. Frictional energy transfer is mainly characterized by dihedral and kinetic energy transitions in polymer chains. Our findings also show that the ultrasonic amplitude has a greater impact on polymer–metal interfacial friction heating than the frequency, as much as it does under ultrasonic plasticizing circumstances on the homogeneous polymer–polymer interface. Even if there are differences in thermophysical properties at the heterointerface, transient heating will still cause heat accumulation at the interface with a temperature difference of around 35 K.

Abstract:
Pengelasan logam adalah suatu proses pengelasan yang dilakukan pada dua jenis atau paduan logam yang berbeda. Pengelasan logam beda jenis banyak dipakai di berbagai industri, misalnya pembangkit listrik, industri transportasi, kontruksi sipil, dan lain-lain. Baja merupakan material yang banyak digunakan untuk kontruksi. Aplikasinya banyak disambung dengan logam lain. Penyambungannya dilakukan dengan pengelasan. Dalam penggabungan dua logam yang berbeda permasalahan yang sering timbul dalam pengelasan antara lain perbedaan titik lebur, koefisien muai, sifat fisis dan mekanis. Oleh karena itu dengan pemilihan elektroda pengelasan yang tepat akan menghasilkan sambungan yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis elektroda pada baja AISI 1045 dan SS202 terhadap struktur mikro dan kekuatan tarik. Elektroda yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah jenis E 6013 dan E 7018. Metode pengelasan menggunakan las SMAW. Struktur mikro dikarakterisasi menggunakan mikroskop optik. Kekuatan mekanik diuji menggunakan mesin uji tarik. Hasil pengamatan struktur mikro pada masing-masing spesimen menunjukkan adanya perbedaan susunan. Struktur mikro didominasi oleh ferit dan perlit. Dengan menggunakan elektroda E7018, menghasilkan perlit yang lebih halus. Berdasarkan uji tarik, terdapat perbedaaan yang signifikan. Pada spesimen E 6013 memiliki kekuatan tarik rata-rata sebesar 275,7 kN/mm2, sedangan E 7018 memiliki kekuatan rata-rata sebesar 419,5 kN/mm2. Immersive audio has received significant attention in the past decade. The emergence of a few groundbreaking systems and events (Dolby Atmos, MPEG-H, VR/AR, AI) contributes to reshaping the landscape of this field, accelerating the mass market adoption of immersive audio. This review serves as a quick recap of some immersive audio background, end to end workflow, covering audio capture, compression, and rendering. The technical aspects of object audio and ambisonic will be explored, as well as other related topics such as binauralization, virtual surround, and upmix. Industry trends and applications are also discussed where user experience ultimately decides the future direction of the immersive audio technologies.

AbstractCompositionality is a primary feature of language, but graphics can also create combinatorial meaning, like with items above faces (e.g., lightbulbs to mean inspiration). We posit that these “upfixes” (i.e., upwards affixes) involve a productive schema enabling both stored and novel face–upfix dyads. In two experiments, participants viewed either conventional (e.g., lightbulb) or unconventional (e.g., clover-leaves) upfixes with faces which either matched (e.g., lightbulb/smile) or mismatched (e.g., lightbulb/frown). In Experiment 1, matching dyads sponsored higher comprehensibility ratings and faster response times, modulated by conventionality. In Experiment 2, event-related brain potentials (ERPs) revealed conventional upfixes, regardless of matching, evoked larger N250s, indicating perceptual expertise, but mismatching and unconventional dyads elicited larger semantic processing costs (N400) than conventional-matching dyads. Yet mismatches evoked a late negativity, suggesting congruent novel dyads remained construable compared with violations. These results support that combinatorial graphics involve a constrained productive schema, similar to the lexicon of language.

Abstract:
This study attempted to improve students’ achievement in writing report text through numbered heads together. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class VIII/B at SMP SWASTA UPMI Medan that consisted of 32 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings and the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instrument for collecting quantitative data was a writing test and the instrument for collecting quantitative data included diary notes, observation sheets, interview and questionnaire sheets. Based on the writing test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In test I, the mean was 66,4375, in test II the mean was 78,125 and in test III the mean was 87,5625. Based on the observation sheets and questionnaire sheets, it was found that the teaching learning process ran well. Students were active and interested in writing. The result of the research showed that Number Heads Together (NHT) significantly improved students’ achievement in writing report text. Key Words: Writing, Report, Number Heads Together.

The subject of the research was class IX/A SMP SWASTA UPMI MEDAN that consisted of 30 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings and the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative data (Writing Test) and Qualitative data (diary notes, observation sheet, interview and questionnaire sheet). Based on the writing test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 67,6, in the test II the mean was 74.5 and the test III the mean was 86.56. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process ran well. Students were active and interest in writing.
