Abstract:

The Upanat is a special type of footwear designed specifically for climbing the structure of the Borobudur Temple. The design of the Upanat focuses on sponge-type footwear, material resistance to physical and chemical processes, and wearing comfort. The primary purpose of using Upanat is to minimize the friction between the temple stones and footwear, thus preventing wear and tear and maintaining the structure of the Borobudur Temple. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using Upanat at the Borobudur Temple, and a descriptive qualitative approach was used to collect data through direct interviews, observations, and documentation. The determination of the effectiveness of Upanat use at the Borobudur Temple was carried out in three stages: reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that Upanat is highly effective in reducing wear and tear on the stairs and floors of the Borobudur Temple, as it uses materials that cause minimal friction.

Abstract:

Chaturmas Upvas is as old as human being. Maharshi Vyas transcribed first time regarding various rituals. Chaturmas means four months. It is a holy period from July to October. Upvas is withdrawal of senses from materialistic world as well as going back from misconduct and living quality life at all level. It is prac-ticed for spiritual upgrading as well as to worship the God. It is ‘willful refrainment from eating all or some kind of food or drink or total abstinence from all kinds of food for definite period of time’ but it is much more than simply not eating, it is for overall well-being and to acquire divine grace. It contributes in purifi-cation of body as well as mind and improves overall health which is mainstay of Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha for which human is supposed to borne. In this article, Chaturmas Upvas and its contribution in physical, spiritual and mental health is reviewed scientifically.

Abstract:

We recently reported that uPARAP/Endo180 can mediate the cellular uptake and lysosomal degradation of collagen by cultured fibroblasts. Here, we show that uPARAP/Endo180 has a key role in the degradation of collagen during mammary carcinoma progression. In the normal murine mammary gland, uPARAP/Endo180 is widely expressed in periductal fibroblast-like mesenchymal cells that line mammary epithelial cells. This pattern of uPARAP/Endo180 expression is preserved during polyomavirus middle T–induced mammary carcinogenesis, with strong uPARAP/Endo180 expression by mesenchymal cells embedded within the collagenous stroma surrounding nests of uPARAP/Endo180-negative tumor cells. Genetic ablation of uPARAP/Endo180 impaired collagen turnover that is critical to tumor expansion, as evidenced by the abrogation of cellular collagen uptake, tumor fibrosis, and blunted tumor growth. These studies identify uPARAP/Endo180 as a key mediator of collagen turnover in a pathophysiological context.

Abstract:

Malignant mesothelioma (MM) is a highly aggressive cancer with limited therapeutic options. We have previously shown that the endocytic collagen receptor, uPARAP, is upregulated in certain cancers and can be therapeutically targeted. Public RNA expression data display uPARAP overexpression in MM. Thus, to evaluate its potential use in diagnostics and therapy, we quantified uPARAP expression by immunohistochemical H-score in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded bioptic/surgical human tissue samples and tissue microarrays. We detected pronounced upregulation of uPARAP in the three main MM subtypes compared to non-malignant reactive mesothelial proliferations, with higher expression in sarcomatoid and biphasic than in epithelioid MM. The upregulation appeared to be independent of patients’ asbestos exposure and unaffected after chemotherapy. Using immunoblotting, we demonstrated high expression of uPARAP in MM cell lines and no expression in a non-malignant mesothelial cell line. Moreover, we showed the specific internalization of an anti-uPARAP monoclonal antibody by the MM cell lines using flow cytometry-based assays and confocal microscopy. Finally, we demonstrated the sensitivity of these cells towards sub-nanomolar concentrations of an antibody-drug conjugate formed with the uPARAP-directed antibody and a potent cytotoxin that led to efficient, uPARAP-specific eradication of the MM cells. Further studies on patient cohorts and functional preclinical models will fully reveal whether uPARAP could be exploited in diagnostics and therapeutic targeting of MM.

Abstract:

Addressing undernutrition requires strategies that remove barriers to health for all. We adapted an intervention from the ‘UPAVAN’ trial to a mobile intervention (m-UPAVAN) during the COVID-19 pandemic in rural Odisha, India. In UPAVAN, women’s groups viewed and discussed participatory videos on nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive agricultural (NSA) topics. In m-UPAVAN, weekly videos and audios on the same topics were disseminated via WhatsApp and an interactive voice response system. We assessed feasibility, acceptability, and equity of m-UPAVAN using a convergent parallel mixed-methods design. m-UPAVAN ran from Mar-Sept 2021 in 133 UPAVAN villages. In Feb-Mar 2021, we invited 1000 mothers of children aged 0–23 months to participate in a sociodemographic phone survey. Of those, we randomly sampled 200 mothers each month for five months for phone surveys to monitor progress against targets. Feasibility targets were met if >70% received videos/audios and >50% watched/listened at least once. Acceptability targets were met if >75% of those watching/listening liked the videos/audios and <20% opted out of the intervention. We investigated mothers’ experiences of the intervention, including preferences for m-UPAVAN versus UPAVAN, using in-person, semi-structured interviews (n = 38). Of the 810 mothers we reached, 666 provided monitoring data at least once. Among these mothers, feasibility and acceptability targets were achieved. m-UPAVAN engaged whole families, which facilitated family-level discussions around promoted practices. Women valued the ability to access m-UPAVAN content on demand. This advantage did not apply to many mothers with limited phone access. Mothers highlighted that the UPAVAN interventions’ in-person participatory approaches and longer videos were more conducive to learning and inclusive, and that mobile approaches provide important complementarity. We conclude that mobile NSA interventions are feasible and acceptable, can engage families, and reinforce learning. However, in-person participatory approaches remain essential for improving equity of NSA interventions. Investments are needed in developing and testing hybrid NSA interventions.

Abstract:

Ruang udara terbuka ASEAN merupakan bentuk kebijakan untuk membuka wilayah udara antara sesama anggota negara ASEAN. Kebijakan ruang udara terbuka ASEAN adalah bagian dari tujuan pembentukan Masyarakat Ekonomi ASEAN dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan perekonomian di kawasan ASEAN untuk meningkatkan daya saing di fora internasional sehingga perekonomian dapat tumbuh merata, juga meningkatkan kehidupan masyarakat, dan hal utama adalah untuk mengurangi kemiskinan. Ruang udara terbuka ASEAN menawarkan akses ke pasar yang besar, keuntungan besar, meningkatkan daya tarik wisata, serta frekuensi penerbangan akan meningkat. Permasalahan dalam kajian ini adalah bagaimana ruang udara terbuka ASEAN di Indonesia dalam kaitannya dengan kedaulatan udara Indonesia dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui upaya pemerintah Indonesia dalam menangani pelaksanaan dari kebijakan langit terbuka ASEAN. Metode kajian ini menggunakan metodologi yuridis normative. Hasil kajian adalah Penerapan prinsip cabotage dan proses pemberlakuan secara bertahap dalam wilayah Indonesia merupakan bentuk pelaksanaan dan sekaligus upaya perlindungan terhadap pemberlakuan ruang udara terbuka dalam wilayah udara kedaulatan Republik Indonesia.

Abstract:

Meningkatnya jumlah space debris di antariksa saat ini tidak hanya memberikan dampak terhadap keamanan antariksa namun juga terhadap keselamatan bumi dan berbagai aspek kehidupan lainnya. Upaya penanganan space debris telah dilakukan dengan dibahasnya isu space debris di dalam forum-forum internasional seperti UNCOUPOS, ESA, dan ITU dan dibentuknya organisasi internasional khusus membahas space debris seperti IADC. Dari berbagai kerja sama dan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh forum-forum internasional, dihasilkan mekanisme-mekanisme internasional yang berguna sebagai pedoman untuk diaplikasikan negara-negara dan pihak yang melaksanakan kegiatan keantariksaan di dalam mekanisme nasionalnya baik itu berbentuk regulasi maupun standar pelaksanaan. Pengkajian ini ditujukan untuk menganalisis upaya penanganan space debris dari perspektif hubungan internasional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deksriptif analitis yaitu dengan mendeskripsikan space debris serta dampaknya dan upaya penanganannya dalam bentuk mekanisme internasional dan menganalisis mekanisme internasional tersebut dengan salah satu teori hubungan internasional yaitu teori liberal. Dari analisis yang dilakukan dihasilkan kesimpulan bahwa mekanisme internasional dalam penanganan space debris merupakan suatu bentuk liberalisasi, dimana kerja sama merupakan wujud rasionalitas masyarakat internasional yang menyadari bahwa penanganan space debris merupakan kepentingan bersama. Penanganan sebuah isu tidak lagi memandang batas-batas negara dan institusi-institusi internasional lebih berperan dibanding negara-negara. Mekanisme internasional penanganan space debris yang diwujudkan dalam bentuk guidelines merupakan seperangkat pengaturan yang telah disepakati negara-negara dan stakeholder melalui kerjasama, sehingga pengaturan yang ada lebih bersifat universal dan lebih aplikatif bagi negara-negara dan aktor antariksa lainnya.

Abstract:

MTCR adalah sebuah asosiasi non-traktat informal yang ditetapkan negara G-7 tahun 1987. MTCR bertujuan membatasi dan mengawasi alih teknologi yang dapat berperan dalam teknologi misil, WMD, dan teknologi guna ganda. Saat ini beranggotakan 34 negara, dan India bukan anggota MTCR, bahkan pada awalnya India menentang MTCR. Walaupun bukan negara anggota, India berhasil mengatasi hambatan alih teknologi dari MTCR, dan saat ini telah mempunyai kemampuan dalam teknologi wahana peluncur dan misil. Pada Juni 2015 India secara resmi mengajukan menjadi anggota MTCR. Kajian ini bertujuan menganalisis mengapa India dalam posisinya sekarang mengajukan menjadi anggota MTCR. Metoda yang digunakan ialah deskriptif yang menggambarkan MTCR, dinamika India dalam mencapai kemampuan teknologi antariksa. Dengan menggunakan konsep kepentingan nasional untuk keamanan, analisis menghasilkan bahwa alasan India mengajukan menjadi anggota MTCR ialah (i) MTCR menjadi platform penting untuk akses ke teknologi wahana peluncur dan misil, sehingga dapat memperkuat kemampuannya untuk kepentingan keamanan, (ii) turut serta dalam pengawasan penyebaran teknologi guna ganda yang apabila jatuh ke negara nakal dapat berimplikasi terhadap keamanan India, (iii) akan memperoleh kepercayaan dalam kerja sama dengan negara anggota dan non anggota MTCR untuk kepentingan keamanan negaranya, (iv) faktor dukungan AS dengan tujuan akhirnya meningkatkan dan memperbesar kekuatan keamanan India, (v) Faktor Tiongkok yang apabila menjadi anggota MTCR akan memberikan akses lebih besar untuk berpartisipasi dalam teknologi tinggi, dan perdagangan teknologi sensitif ke negara sekutu Tiongkok sehingga dapat mengancam keamanan India.

Hal tersebut menjadi perhatian dunia internasional sehingga isu space debris dibahas sebagai isu penting dalam forum keantariksaan internasional. Sejauh ini upaya negaranegara di forum internasional dalam mengatasi space debris telah menghasilkan beberapa pedoman. Pedomanpedoman ini dibuat sebagai upaya untuk mencegah dan menangani meningkatnya jumlah space debris di antariksa.

Abstract:

Permasalahan yang sering dihadapi oleh Pekerja Migran Indonesia (PMI) yakni overstay, gaji tidak dibayar, sakit, ingin dipulangkan, penipuan peluang kerja, putus hubungan komunikasi, gagal berangkat, meninggal dunia di negara tujuan, dan perdagangan manusia. Selain itu terdapat juga permasalahan dalam pengiriman PMI ke luar negeri karena belum disertainya sistem penempatan dan perlindungan yang kuat. Penyusunan road map atau peta jalan bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana upaya dan kebijakan pemerintah dalam memberikan jaminan perlindungan terhadap pekerja migran Indonesia. Dalam menyelesaikan berbagai permasalahan ini, perlu dibentuk tim strategis yang nantinya dapat menjadi satuan khusus dalam upaya percepatan implementasi road map atau peta jalan yang telah disusun. Tim khusus dari Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan memiliki tugas dan fungsi sebagai eksekutor action plant.

Ikhtisar dari volume ini disusun untuk mengeksplorasi secara ringkas poin-poin utama yang dipaparkan di dalam studi kasus yakni bagaimana aksi kolektif perempuan telah membawa perubahan baik bagi kesejahteraan diri perempuan, maupun dampaknya bagi pelaksanaan Undang-Undang Desa di Indonesia, serta bagaimana perubahan-perubahan tersebut terwujud dengan dukungan berbagai organisasi masyarakat sipil dalam lintas konteks dan sektor. Pertama, kami mengidentifikasi perbedaan dan keberagaman prioritas dan inisiatif pembangunan desa sebagai hasil pengaruh keterlibatan perempuan dalam pelaksanaan UndangUndang Desa. Inisiatif pembangunan tersebut tidak hanya terkait isu infrastruktur dan ekonomi (walaupun perempuan juga telah mengupayakan beberapa inisiatif di isu ini), namun juga meliputi berbagai permasalahan pembangunan desa dan tantangan sektoral lain yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat desa, khususnya perempuan. Kedua, kami menjabarkan berbagai bentuk perubahan yang berdampak pada kesejahteraan sehari-hari perempuan, dan juga pengaruhnya pada struktur kuasa, pembuatan keputusan dan prioritas pembangunan, baik di tingkat desa, masyarakat, institusi, maupun konteks yang lebih luas. Abstract:

This paper describes the development and testing of a novel approach to evaluating development interventions – the POInT approach. The authors used Bayesian causal modelling to integrate process and outcome data to generate insights about all aspects of the theory of change, including outcomes, mechanisms, mediators and moderators. They partnered with two teams who had evaluated or were evaluating complex development interventions: The UPAVAN team had evaluated a nutrition-sensitive agriculture intervention in Odisha, India, and the DIG team was in the process of evaluating a disability-inclusive poverty graduation intervention in Uganda. The partner teams’ theory of change were adapted into a formal causal model, depicted as a directed acyclic graph (DAG). The DAG was specified in the statistical software R, using the CausalQueries package, having extended the package to handle large models. Using a novel prior elicitation strategy to elicit beliefs over many more parameters than has previously been possible, the partner teams’ beliefs about the nature and strength of causal links in the causal model (priors) were elicited and combined into a single set of shared prior beliefs. The model was updated on data alone as well as on data plus priors to generate posterior models under different assumptions. Finally, the prior and posterior models were queried to learn about estimates of interest, and the relative role of prior beliefs and data in the combined analysis.
