Full text
Abstract:
The publication contains the authors‘ vision on contemporary challenges in education. It was compiled according to the results of International Education Forum held in Lviv (Ukraine) on 16–17 September, 2021. The event was organized by the National Agency of the Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE) and the Faculty of International Relations of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, which celebrates its 360th anniversary this year. The Forum focused on challenges in the development of educa-tion system in the face of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and COVID-19 pandemic. It also addressed the issue of quality in formal and informal education, which has a direct impact on the competen-cies of young people under the challenges of the 21st century. The Forum also covered the Erasmus+ program within the new financial perspective of the European Union 2021–2027. Internation-al educational mobility is an important instrument for the develop-ment of young people, which should be supported by governmental and non-governmental institutions, educational institutions and business. The Forum provided a platform for discussion and exchange of experience between representatives of different sectors.

Abstract:
Internationalization in the academic world allows transferring knowledge, thus enriching the cognitive abilities and transversal skills of students. This source of knowledge allows teachers to share experiences, increase work agreements between faculties and participate in other visions and learning models. This book encapsulates several international academic experiences between faculties, companies and institutions from 6 countries (Germany, France, Japan, Portugal, Spain and USA) and 15 organizations. In total, 21 participants (academics, students and experts) from various disciplines. The work is divided into chapters with individual or group narratives that recount the international experiences of professors and students who over the years have been collaborating with the Burgos University in different actions and commitments. All this reveals internationalization as a way of tacit evaluation and continuous improvement of university educational models.

Prokop, Rainer, and Rosa Reitsamer, eds. Higher Music Education and Employability in a Neoliberal World. Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.5040/9781350266995.

Full text
Abstract:
In recent years, a growing body of research has been reassessing the role of higher music education institutions in light of the challenges posed by the dominant neoliberal economic system and the growing sensitivity to the reproduction of social inequalities in access to higher education and the labour market. This open access book offers international and interdisciplinary insights into these processes and practices and by examining the learning cultures, curricula designs and emancipatory initiatives within higher music education institutions. Drawing together empirical case studies from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, the UK and the USA, the authors explore the multifaceted ways to transition from study to work and the world of uncertainty and job insecurity currently experienced by a younger generation of musicians. Contributions shed light on the reactions of higher music education institutions to the neoliberal restructuring of the educational field and take a fresh look at the master-apprentice model of teaching and learning. They look at the discourses surrounding employability and artistic standards that form the traditional foundation of conservatoire education but also create the environment for unequal power relations and sexual misconduct. The authors also examine how gender, class and race/ethnicity pervade the creation and performance of music, and highlight alternative pedagogical strategies that fight discrimination and violence to bring about equity and empowerment. The ebook editions of this book are available open access under a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence on bloomsburycollections.com. Open access was funded by University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
