Development and training of human resources is an imperative task for enterprises. In recent years, more and more enterprises have recruited employees who can comply with their organizational culture through industry-academia collaboration. As the economic development and business environment in Mainland China have been fast and gradually stabilized, many Taiwanese enterprises in Mainland China are employing local human resources due to the high cost of dispatching human resources from Taiwan, management conflicts, and legal limitations. Therefore, how to take advantage of university-industry cooperation to find employees who can comply with the culture of an organization or a nation and reduce organizational cost is an important issue for Taiwanese enterprises currently developing their businesses in Mainland China. Based on the transaction cost theory and the case research method, this study analyzed data collected from in-depth interview with seven Taiwanese enterprises in Mainland China to explore drivers of cross-strait industry-academia collaboration and anticipated effects of such collaboration. The results could be a reference of university-industry cooperation at both sides of Taiwan strait for Taiwanese enterprises in Mainland China.
Shanzhong, Peng. "A university-industry cooperation model for small and medium enterprises: the case of Chengdu KEDA Optoelectronic Technology Ltd." Doctoral thesis, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10071/13433.
Full textDuring the past decades, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been playing an important role in China’s transitional economy and social development. However, due to resource limitations and lack of previous experience, these firms present a high rate of failure in terms of research and development (R & D) cooperation between enterprise and academia. In this study, a novel University-Industry (U-I) cooperation model is proposed for SMEs. We first compared three popular U-I cooperation models (i.e., the technology transfer model, the project collaboration model, and the joint venture model), and then applied a field survey for U-I cooperation in China. Based on the empirical results, we put forth a new cooperation model termed as firm-dominated incremental model (FDIM), which mainly includes four stages: (1) initial stage; (2) research stage; (3) shift stage; and (4) commercialization. Taking Chengdu KEDA Optoelectronic Technology Ltd. as case study, this study also explains the application of the proposed FDIM. Our findings suggest that FDIM is more efficient and effective than traditional cooperation models in terms of cost reduction and risk control. Thus, this study helps to bridge the gap between U-I cooperation theory and practice in SMEs. The implications and limitations of this study are also discussed.

Case Study of Cooperative Medicine Area between Taichung Prison and China Medical University Hospital ABSTRACT The way of cooperation between institutes differs in various demands. The commonly seen approaches includes manpower support (more cases of doctors'' diagnoses), referral service (emergency, examination, surgeries and hospitalization), outsourcing (medicine), authorization by the government, regional alliance etc. The major purpose of these approaches is to get accommodated to environmental changes and keen competitions and to acquire sufficient resources in need. To begin with, the research, through interviews with participants from two parties in this project, is to investigate the approach of cooperation and its performances between the Taichung Prison and the participant hospital. Then the study undertakes questionnaire surveys of convicts to understand the level of satisfaction from convicts in diagnosis, hospitalization and dialysis service after the medicine area is really put into practice, and explores correlations between characteristics of convicts and levels of satisfaction in three aspects. The result notes that performances are acceptable with regard to cooperative agreements of parties, communication and negotiation, and implement of cooperation. But, the level of satisfaction of the Taichung Prison is evidently higher than that of the participant hospital. The main reason is that the prison medical care operations satisfied no one for a long period of time in deficient medicine resources (including equipment and manpower), low quality medicine, wasted resources, disputes of bailing out for medical treatment and safety issues. These aspects have been improved by a large amount since the medicine area was founded. On the contrary, the participant hospital is constrained to the prison surroundings, budgets, medicine evaluation procedure of convicts, and positive measures can''t be taken to make great progress in performances, only acceptable. From another perspective, with respect to levels of satisfaction of convicts in diagnosis, hospitalization and dialysis service, hospitalization takes the highest, following diagnosis and dialysis service. The mean level of the entire group, however, is higher than 65%. As for correlations between characteristics of convicts and diagnosis, hospitalization and dialysis service, it''s founded that the age, retention period and education level has no obvious influence on levels of satisfaction. According to facts of evidence, the study has concluded suggestions as follows: 1. Taichung Prison: (1) Adjustment of administration procedure and respect for medicine. (2) A complete cooperation mode of prison medicine to solve the current problems (3) To value medical resources (4) To take payment standards into account from the hospital''s perspective to enhance cooperation (5) Emphasis on cleanness of hospital beds (sheets of the bed and blanket) (6) Effective utilization of medical resources in the health center 2. Participant Hospital: (1) Strengthen communication and coordination to build agreements between both parties (2) To establish a cooperation mode of prison medicine to promote quality of medicine (3) To value cooperative opportunities to develop hospital management (4) Education and Training on functions of Health Center (5) Room for improvement of staff services. Keywords: Taichung Prison, organization cooperation, performance, level of satisfaction, medicine area
