Abstract:
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of smartphone use time, sitting time, and fitness level in university students.METHODS: The participants of this study were 237 healthy university students (157 males and 80 females) enrolled from 2017 to 2018. The smartphone use time was divided into three groups: 0-4, ≥4-10, and ≥10 hours, as was the sitting time: 0-4, 4-7, and ≥7 hours. Binary logistic regression was used to calculate the odd ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of the smartphone use time and sitting time for having low levels of fitness.RESULTS: There were linear decreases in physical fitness levels across incremental smartphone use time and sitting time. Compared to the smartphone use time for 0-4 hours (reference), smartphone use time for the ≥4-10 hours (OR=2.498; 95% CI=1.007-6.197; p=.048) or the 10≥group (OR=3.516; 95% CI=1.228-10.064; p=.019) had significantly higher ORs of having lower fitness even after adjustments for age, sex, physical activity and percent body fat. Likewise, logistic regression analyses showed that those who had sitting time for ≥7 hours (OR=3.135; 95% CI=1.155-8.512; p=.025) had significantly higher ORs of having lower fitness even after adjustments for age, sex, physical activity, and percent body fat, as compared with those who had sitting time for 0-<4 hours.CONCLUSIONS: The current finding suggest that the smartphone using time and sitting time were associated with having the risk of lower level of physical fitness in university students.

We present new 13CO(J = 1-0) measurements of the Orion molecular cloud. The data were taken with the 4-m millimeter-wave telescope of Nagoya University with a beamwidth of 2.7′. The high velocity resolution of 0.1 km s−1 employed has revealed significant details of the 13CO emission toward the H II region.

Abstract:
Background:The eye is a common and potential severe complication of sarcoidosis. Topical and systemic corticosteroids are the first-line treatment. Conventional and biological immunosuppressants (IS) are frequently needed(1-5).Objectives:To assess the frequency, clinical and treatment of ocular involvement of sarcoidosis. Methods:Study of a large cohort (n=383) of systemic sarcoidosis from a single university hospital. All consecutive patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis from January 1,1999 to January 1,2019 according the ATS/ERS/WASOG criteria(Eur Respir J 1999;14:735–737) were included.Results:41 (22 women/19 men) of 383 (10.7%) patients had ocular involvement, mean age 44.8±16 years. Uveitis (n=34; 82.9%) was the most common ocular manifestation, especially anterior uveitis (n=18; 52.9%). Ocular surface and eye orbit may also be affected(Table). In addition to topical and systemic corticosteroids, conventional (n=23; 56.1%) and biologic (n=14; 34.1%) IS drugs were required. Adalimumab and Infliximab were the most used biologic treatments(Table).Cystoid macular edema (CME) and Retinal Vasculitis was observed in both cases in 3 (7.3%) patients, 2 of them (66.7%) required biological treatment. Papilitis appeared in 7 (17.1%) cases, biological treatment was needed in 3 (42.9%) patients. The most frequent sequels were cataract (n=9, 21.9%), intraocular hypertension (n=5; 12.2%) and pupil alterations (n=4; 9.7%). The average of the best corrected visual acuity was 0.6±0.3 at diagnosis and 0.7±0.3 after one year follow up.Conclusion:Ocular involvement of sarcoidosis is a relative frequent and potential severe complication, especially if panuveitis is presented.References:[1]Riancho-Zarrabeitia L, et al. Abstract:
Objective: To determine the adherence to the Mediterranean diet of a university population and to analyze various factors that could condition its nutritional quality. Material and Methods: Distribution of the kidmed test to a sample of 50 university students. The kidmed index (0 to 10) indicated whether adherence to the Mediterranean diet was low (0 to 3), average (4 to 6), or high (7 to 10). Each respondent recorded sex, age, weight, size and province of origin. Results: The sample was 33 males and 17 females aged between 18 and 25 years. 9.5% of university students had a low kidmed index, 62.1% intermediate and 28.4% high. Overweight university students had a significantly higher percentage of low adherences (15.5%) (p < 0.05) than those with a normal nutritional status (8.5%). Conclusion: 71.6% of university students needed to improve their food pattern (medium-low adherence to the Mediterranean diet). Students with low adherence had a higher risk of being overweight. It would be desirable to develop nutritional education programmes in university curricula.
