Abstract:
Along with the implementation of democracy, Nepalese people are privileged of having different categories of human rights. Among them, trade union is one of the major political rights. The workers in industry, trade, business and other labour markets are organized within the trade union. Hotels are supposed to be the service industry or business organizations that are foundincreasing rapidly in the post 1990’s democratic era. Hence, in this post-republican democracy along with settlement of the Maoist arms conflict, hotel business seems to be blooming. In order to be successful in the hotel business, it requires skilled manpower for providing good services. Skillful labourers require having basic rights with several privileges only then they can be fully devoted and committed to their profession, which may lead to a successful hotel business. Pokhara is a renowned place for tourism and hotel business. There are around one thousand hotels here including stars and non-stars. There are different trade unions for organizing the hotel workers for their rights. Whether such unions are working for seeking more privileges to their members is a major question for research. In this regard, to study the role and impact of trade unions among the hotel workers in Pokhara is the main objective of this research paper. Two hotels as one from stars and another from non-stars were chosen for obtaining the required data for the fulfillment of the objective. As with the opening of trade unions - 144 - in almost every sector of industry, including the hospitality, the rights of the labour are taken into considerations. Being united under the trade unions, workers are obtaining various facilities as job security, allowances and basic salary as prescribed by the governmental rules. It has been found that many workers have positive attitudes towards trade unions and the managements have also been positive towards workers as well as unions. Most of the workers enjoy the union memberships and participate in the union activities. But some of them are not satisfied with union activities, because they believe the leaders are more guided and directed by their self-interests and their affiliated political parties. However, as per workers perspective there is cooperative relationship between trade unions and hotel management in fulfillment of their basic and other rights.Journal of Political Science, Volume XVIII, 2018, Page : 143-166

Abstract:
Objective. The objective of the present article is to study the trends in the development of the market of hotel services in Ukraine and the countries of the European Union, to determine their common and distinctive features. Methods. A complex of general scientific methods is used: analogy, analysis, synthesis, logical generalization; statistical, comparative methods; multidimensional factor analysis. The initial fact of the study is the determination of the dependence of the development trends of the hotel market of Ukraine on the trends of the development of the European hotel market due to the geographical, economic and cultural-historical proximity of the regions. Based on the concept of concentric circles and the leading position of the European hotel market in the world, the hotel market of Ukraine developed to a greater extent under the weakened influence of the European, which is evidenced by both the geographical location of hotels and similar means of accommodation in Ukraine and service and technological innovations. Results. A comparative analysis of the dynamics of the development of hotels and similar means of accommodation in Ukraine and the countries of the European Union was carried out according to the following indicators: the total number of hotels and similar means of accommodation; the ratio of the number of hotels and similar means of accommodation in the city and the countryside, on the coast and on the mainland; the number of beds in them; the number of overnight stays in hotels and similar places of accommodation; occupancy of beds; average length of stay in hotels and similar means of accommodation; dynamics of inbound and outbound tourism. It was established that tourism acted as a catalyst for the development of the hotel market, both in Europe and in Ukraine. The level of development of the hotel industry was higher in those countries where there was a larger number of tourists. At the same time, if inbound tourism dominated in Europe, then in Ukraine, on the contrary, outbound tourism prevailed. The accommodation services market, during the studied period, developed dynamically and had the same growth rates. Hotels developed most actively in large cities, which became centers of the hotel business and pioneers of development. At the same time, there was a tendency to move hotels to the coast. During 2015-2019, a significant number of accommodation facilities were built there. These innovations were also typical for Ukraine. The loss of control over the Crimean peninsula intensified the interest of investors and vacationers in Odesa. This contributed to its rise to the first places in the state in terms of the rate of development of the hotel business. The indicators of Ukraine and the countries of the European Union were radically different in the ratio of the number of institutions and beds between the city and the village. Surprisingly, the majority of bed places in the countries of the European Union were located in rural areas. This explains well the reasons for the dominance of small-capacity hotels in the countries of the European Union and, as a result, higher bed occupancy rates in the EU countries - 45%, against 35% - Ukraine. It is proven that under these conditions, the hotel market of Ukraine tried to adapt and integrate into the European one. According to quantitative indicators, Ukraine and the countries of the European Union were almost at the same level, with the exception of: Germany; France; Spain; of Italy They had higher development indicators and formed the axis of influence: Madrid-Paris-Berlin. The distance from this axis, according to the theory of concentric circles, determined the activity of the Ukrainian hotel market and the peculiarities of the internal location of accommodation establishments and their functioning.

Abstract:
In this article, we draw international comparisons between industrial relations regimes in the hotel sector and compare relevant trade union experiences in the selected metropolitan areas of Oslo, Dublin, and Toronto. We ask how union strategies differ in these different hotel markets, and how strategic choices at a local level relate to industrial relations models, regulatory change, and corporate restructuring in the hotel market. The study is based on interviews with union representatives and key informants in Norway, Ireland, and Canada. The main argument we make is that the reorientation of union priorities and the willingness to engage in innovative strategies that has characterized hotel unionism in Toronto and Dublin is not detectable in the case of Oslo. This might be a result of the relatively strong position Norwegian trade unions have in national industrial relations, but can at the same time leave local hotel unions vulnerable as they are facing low unionization levels and corporate restructuring which they are unable to tackle effectively.

Abstract:
The paper offers a review of the international principles and approaches to the conformity assessment of hotels quality and safety criteria. Given the lack of common approaches in the world practice to the accommodation establishments categorization, in particular, lack of stanard assessment system, it is suggested to build a unified hotels conformity assessment system (categorization) based on the 21 HOTREC principles, Hotelstars Union criteria and the requirements of The Global Hotel Security Standard. This approach will allow consumers obtain valid and transparent information about hotels all over the world. The recommendations provided will contribute to enhancing the quality and safety of hotel services as well as to boosting the flow of foreign tourists.

Abstract:
I discuss the recent union renewal strategies adopted by UNITE-HERE Local 75, the union representing a majority of Toronto's organized hotel workers—a fragmented and diverse labour force. Local 75's renewal strategies are multiscalar with knowledge and resources flowing through the organization forming a spatial circuit of union renewal. Conceptualizing union renewal as a spatial circuit maps the interdependencies of different scales of labour organization and the tensions that emerge among such scales. The paper focuses on the hotel union's strategic attempts to (re)create pattern bargaining at local and international scales and organize new hotels prior to their construction. I conclude with a brief discussion linking the recent merger of UNITE-HERE and its departure from the AFL-CIO to broader renewal processes.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the Hotel Workers Union and its impact on talent management in the New Zealand hospitality sector using the corporatist framework drawing primarily on the works of Schmitter (1979) to construct a critical, historical employment relations approach.Design/methodology/approachThe data for this paper were gathered as part of a history of employment relations in the New Zealand hotel sector from 1955 to 2000. The main methods were, namely, semi-structured interviews and archival research.FindingsThis study found a historical employment environment of multiple actors in the employment relationship, with hotel unions playing a more complex and nuanced role to influence talent management in the New Zealand hotel sector. The paper suggests that neither the hotel union nor employers effectively addressed talent management challenges in this sector.Research limitations/implicationsThe study contributes detailed empirical knowledge about historical relationships between hotel unions and talent management issues in New Zealand.Originality/valueThe paper argues that applying a corporatist perspective to the history of the Hotel Workers Union and the issues of talent management that result from that history provides a unique and insightful contribution to the field

Abstract:
The subject of this article is to research the role of trade unions in the hotel industry in this century. Looking at trade union density across the Horeca sector in the EU27 plus Norway, it can be seen that overall density is relatively low (less than 15%), irrespective of the diversity within the Horeca sector in each country. Accordingly, the main objective of this article is to investigate the future of the trade unions in the hotel industry considering social and economic changes of the last few decades. It starts from four hypotheses, which refer to the attitudes of employees and union members towards the role of unions in the hotel industry and their power. The results of field research have served as primary data. The survey has been carried out among hotel employees (N=452) along the Adriatic coast in the summer season before the COVID-19 crises. In order to evaluate, formulate and present the findings, the following scientific methods have been applied: analysis and synthesis together with descriptive and inferential statistics.. The main finding of this paper points to the conclusion that employees who achieve high productivity do not have faith in the power of unions in the hotel industry. In terms of demographic variables, union employees above the age of 50 believe the least in the power of unions. These employees mostly point out that they are not adequately rewarded, that their superiors do not help them, and do not respect their working hours. The findings obtained may be significant for trade unions and their representatives to support them to form a new strategy that is necessary for unions to reach their goals.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was mainly to analyze the operating efficiency of Green Hotels during the epidemic, and to explore whether hotels that pay more attention to green energy and saving energy would be more economically efficient. The object of this study is the top 20 Green Hotels voted on the European Union Internet Forum from 2018 to 2022. According to the empirical results, all Green Hotels were affected by COVID-19, and their operating efficiency became worse. This study further used Tobit regression to find out the factors that affect the operating efficiency, and performs regression analysis on the efficiency values of the green energy environment variables. The findings showed that the green energy equipment of EU-certified Green Hotels had a negative effect on the operating efficiency, with a coefficient value of −0.362, indicating that the investment in green energy equipment cannot be achieved in a short period of time. In addition, the education level of managers and hotel green energy licenses have positive effects on the operating efficiency of Green Hotels. In particular, when the Green Hotel licenses are the most important, they have the highest coefficient value of the efficiency of Green Hotels at 0.484. This means that the higher the education level of Green Hotel managers and the higher the level of the Green Hotel license, the higher the operating efficiency. These findings suggest that Green Hotel management should pay attention to its green certificate level and the education knowledge of managers, so as to achieve sustainable energy saving and to improve operating efficiency.

Renewable energy is necessary for each industry functioning, also for hotel industry. It’s necessary for warming, lightening hotels, for kitchens functioning in hotels, for transport vehicles movement, for hotel pools, etc. In lack of classic energy sources, long period of time some work is done on finding new energy sources, besides oil and coal, water and wind. Nowadays, solar energy is very popular, which is already supplied, bio-energy, wind energy, water energy, geothermal and gas energy, steam, and still a work is done on permanent finding of new renewable energy sources (fuel cell resources, ocean/wave resources). In this paper, overworked data is shown, brought by Ohrid hotels and SWOT analyses has been done of energy consumption in hotel industry in Ohrid, with proposals for modernization, efficiency, aiming to modern tourism development, environment protection, human health protection. In this way, basic demands for entering the European Union will be satisfied and legislative harmonization in Republic of Macedonia with other EU members is going to be realized.

Abstract:
The aim of the paper is to present the role of EU funds in the development of hotel base in Poland. Detailed objectives include identification of changes in the structure of hotels, presentation of the value and number of investments in hotels co-financed by the EU funds and assessment of the role of EU funds in building new hotels in Poland. Descriptive, statistical and graphic methods were used. In the analyzed period the number of hotels in Poland changed from 668 in 1995 to 2209 in 2015. The share of most luxurious (5- and 4-star) hotels have developed most. Financial perspective 2007-2013 differed from the previous one, as much more projects involving hotels were implemented: 208 construction or adaptation and 193 development or renovation ones with total EU co-financing of 631,6 million PLN. The highest values of new hotels constructions or adaptations for hotels characterized voivodships dolnośląskie, warmińsko-mazurskie and opolskie, also regions located in eastern Poland. The highest increase of hotel number was observed in south-eastern and Central Poland, which partly was the effect of implemented regional policy and European Union funds.

Abstract:
As a catalyst for a closer economic integration through a single currency, Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) held out the promise of welfare gains for the participating countries and their respective industries. Among the potential benefits of monetary union, EMU was expected to enhance business competition through a stability-oriented macroeconomic policy framework, including greater transparency, reduced exchange rate uncertainty, greater credibility to the policy regime and lower transactions costs, among others. Whether the hotel stakeholders perceived, or did not perceive, significant changes brought about by EMU for Portugal, and the hotel business environment in the north of Portugal in particular, was the central aim of this study. To meet this aim the following was done: First, based on a literature review focussing on the economics of integration, business management and competitiveness theories the underpinning framework of the primary research were identified and developed. In particular, this research focused on the perceptions of the hotel stakeholders towards the implications of EMU using and adapting three of Porter's models: the Diamond, Five Forces, and Value Chain models. By combining Porter's models together in an all-encompassing framework, it was possible to confirm that there are advantages in merging more than one business environment level into an integrated study procedure. Second, three sets of surveys were conducted based on the underlying analytical frameworks and knowledge of EMU and tourism/hotel industry. one survey for each of the three target groups. Together, these three surveys provided a multi-stakeholder perspective - the national, the industry and the businesses perspective - using people involved directly at each level of the business environment (the Portuguese national authorities, the hotel industry associations and the hotel businesses in the North of Portugal). Finally, the data analysis was structured into two parts based on the type of questionnaire used: structured and semi-structured. The semi-structured questionnaires were analysed using two types of content analysis, summation and explanation, using QSR NUD*IST 6 software programme. The structured questionnaires were analysed using basic descriptive methods, such as frequencies and cross tabulations. The quantitative data was analysed using the Statistical Packagefo r SocialS cience(sS PSS). One of the main conclusions the study reached through the conceptual framework used was that, EMU not only changed the business environment at a national level, but also changed the competitive and operational environment of the hotels. However, the effects expected in literature were greater than the effects observed by the hotel stakeholders and, in particular, by the business respondents.

Abstract:
From the Polanyian perspective on the double movement of labour commodification and self-protection of Society, the aim of this study was to examine how unionists perceive and problematise precarious employment and what are their practices for unionising and thereby securing precarious workers. A double case study was conducted in the hotel-restaurant and construction sectors in Sweden with the participation of blue-collar unionists with diverse backgrounds and experiences. The results show that precarious work is associated with labour market segmentation, subcontracting and fragmentation of economic organisations, deskilling of work, loss of autonomy and sometimes over-qualification of workers. Perceived difficulties for unionisation are fear, lack of knowledge of precarious workers about their rights, membership cost, status frustration and lack of interactions with other workers. Reported practices for unionising precarious workers consist of dealing with these barriers in order to build trustful relations and empowering workers through education and inclusion in leadership positions. Actions taken to protect and secure precarious workers are strongly interlinked with their unionisation and seem to rest mainly on negotiations. The main conclusions of the study are that precarious work means a loss of control by workers over their work life stemming from labour commodification and flexibilisation due to increased management control and lack of rights and protections surrounding work. The formation of solidarities needed for unionisation is hindered by the detachment of precarious workers from the work community and by inequality regimes. The domination of fear manifests the prevalence of emotions. Therefore, the care and emotional work of unionists is essential for making workers feel confidence. Unions practices tend to lean also, to some extent, towards organising and community building models. Thereby, union agency appears to be able to engage in an interplay with structures to exert some influence on employment and industrial relations.

This project focuses on the renovation of Union Station (VIA Rail) located at 123 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, into a hotel. The purpose of designing a hotel at Union Station will be to link users to the historical and cultural context that the building sits in. The facility will be a place that addresses the needs of VIA Rail’s travellers while creating a location where locals can visit. It will be an establishment unique from other hotels within the vicinity because of its strong literal ties to the rail industry being that it is attached to a train station, serving the clientele of the train station and that it reflects the inherent historical value of the site for Winnipeg. An investigation into Regulation Theory and place and interaction theories, a precedent analysis on typologies related to the one presented and a detailed programme will influence the design of the proposed hotel.

Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the representations of gender and unionism in two hotel worker unions in Vancouver; one is an American hotel worker union (Local 40) and the other a Canadian, male, industrial worker union (CAIMAW). Between 1982 and 1984 these unions struggled over the rights to represent hotel workers. Rather than focus only on the complex series of events and allegations that marked the struggle, in this thesis I explore the meanings, ideologies and understandings of two different union discourses, one about gender and the other about unionism. Gendered ideologies and gendered union practices are expressed in the daily actions of unions and union officials. In particular I examine the circumstances of the struggle, and the organisation practices employed by Local 40 and CAIMAW in the hotels, to explore how the meanings of gender and unionism are expressed and negotiated within unions. The struggle itself was couched both in terms of nationalism (ie Canadian versus American International unions), and union organisation. Despite women’s predominance as hotel employees, gender and the concerns of women workers, were neglected as an issue.

Abstract Being a province in the Northernmost of Vietnam and also one of the popular tourism spots in the North Vietnam for both domestic tourists and international tourists, especially the backpackers, Ha Giang has many potential for developing tourism and also hospitality industry. According to the statistics collected by the city’s provincial portal, all of the figures are showing positive changes which represent the potentials of the hospitality industry in Ha Giang. Therefore, this research aims to focus on analyzing the characteristics of these factors on the hospitality industry. The components of the marketing strategies and service quality will be described in details. Upon completing the literature review, the authors will use the concepts reviewed to analyze the two factors for the case of the hospitality industry in Vietnam. The analyzed contents will be used to give the recommendations and solutions for the enhancing customer satisfaction for hotel industry in Vietnam. Using quantitative research method with 200 customers of Ha Giang Union Hotel, the respondents only provide their assessment on their level of satisfaction with ha Giang Union Hotel services with portion of [2-disagree], [3 – Neutral] and [4 - Agree] are 4.0%, 73%, and 23% respectively. It is concluded that most of respondents have neutral satisfaction with current quality of services in Ha Giang Union Hotel. Furthermore, the author also identifies that the customers have low agree on the context of they feel the hotel’s staffs always serve as their order and the rooms are often corrected as they have already booked before. They also have low agree on attention and patience of the staffs during the time they stayed with the hotel. Additionally, 5 factors above can explain for 56.1% of changes in customer satisfaction and such explanation is statistical significant at 5% of confidence interval.

Results from interviews with refugees indicate three areas of the pandemic’s impact: on employment search processes of refugees; the effect of digitalisation of communication; and increased feelings of disorientation.

This chapter discusses a campaign by the New York hotel workers to ensure new hotels built in East Midtown will employ unionized labor and continue to offer decent wages and benefits. This case shows how the New York Hotel Trades Council's (HTC) intervention in East Midtown formed part of a broader campaign to block hotel development in a sector that is increasingly fragmented by service format, and most worrisome, witnessing a rapid growth of hotels providing few services and competing on price, leading to a stronger employer opposition to unionization. The outcome of this case speaks unequivocally to organized labor's strength in New York City politics and to a growing recognition in real estate and policymaking circles of labor's importance in urban land use planning.

Abstract This chapter explores Marriott Corporation’s growth to become the largest hotel company in existence. The Marriott’s acquisition of heavily unionized Starwood made it the largest hotel company in the world, which meant that the company was suddenly operating a significant number of union hotels for the first time. The key feature of Marriott’s union avoidance strategy had been to match the union wage in major hotel markets. The chapter explains that UNITE HERE Local 26 members expected the escalation to an open-ended strike to win their key bargaining priorities from Marriott. The Boston contract settlement was an overall victory for workers in Marriott, Omni, Highgate, and other smaller hotel companies that would see benefits under the Me Too agreements.

This chapter describes a campaign to raise the minimum wage for hotel workers in Long Beach, California, exploring the deft use of the social change matrix to address income inequality in a way that was adapted to local conditions. The Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE) studied the tourism industry in Long Beach and highlighted both the role of tax breaks for this industry in the community as well as the low wages paid to workers in it. Teaming up with a local chapter of UNITE HERE Local 11—the union that represents workers in the hotel, food service, and gaming industries—LAANE began to advocate for higher wages for employees in hotels in Long Beach. The UNITE HERE–LAANE partnership did not do much in terms of social media to promote its message, although it had a Facebook page and used Twitter and other channels. Instead, it used the mails and, most important, the face-to-face, door-to-door canvassing to get its message out.

This chapter examines the evolution of labor's financial turn, wherein union funds relied on the cookbook to find common ground with other investors and to raise returns on their holdings. In several industries — including hospitals, hotels, and building services — unions drew on experiences to mount corporate campaigns that incorporated shareholder activism and other financial strategies. The chapter explores the collective bargaining agreement, which is a type of governance model that gives workers greater standing than under shareholder primacy. It explains how labor tweaked the cookbook to make it more compatible with a pro-worker approach to investing. The principles of transparency and accountability were invoked to press mutual funds to report their proxy votes and companies to reveal their political donations.

Over the last three decades, various initiatives promoted by the European Union concerning the involvement and empowerment of communities in recognising and creating cultural values have flourished. They include, for instance, the Faro Convention, programs for ecomuseums and community mapping, and have contributed to giving voice to bottom-up initiatives for enhancing not only so-called monumental architecture but also "ordinary" architecture and built and vernacular cultural heritage. In general, this approach has also contributed to focusing attention on the importance of local communities in local development processes. In Italy, the so-called inner areas are often characterised by ordinary and vernacular heritage related to rural or manufacturing activities. In these small villages, some local communities, also thanks to the Italian National Strategy for Inner Areas, recognised reuse of part of the vernacular local built heritage as a strength for the community itself and the broader context. Some cases have demonstrated that valorisation of architectural heritage is possible without creating tourism-related facilities only (hotels, museums, etc.) but also creating services needed by "local" users that facilitate the everyday life of the place. In this perspective, attention should also be focused on heritage education and the intergenerational transmission of knowledge, which should involve the entire community at different levels, starting from experiences already in place in similar contexts. In this sense, a community can be intended as a broad concept, a constantly evolving process that includes the resident citizens and a broader network related to a specific territory. Through analyses of case studies, this contribution aims to propose reflections on the role of heritage community experiences in empowering vernacular architectural heritage and its wider context.

Abstract:
Between 1950 and 1965, foreign aid played a crucial role within the Indonesian economy. With the Cold War as a backdrop, this aid came from both Western and Eastern blocs with the intention of drawing Indonesia into their spheres of influence. The aid also played a crucial role in the development of architecture in the archipelago. A major endeavour within this period was the construction of buildings and venues for the Fourth Asian Games to be held in Jakarta in 1962 which involved a new stadium, an international-standard hotel and a large by-pass road around part of the city. Financial and technical aid from the Soviet Union, Japan and the United States was obtained to realise these projects. All the while, the Asian Games, along with the modern structures constructed for the event, provided Indonesia an opportunity to advance its own agenda, which was to construct a sense of self-confidence and national pride and to situate itself as a leader among decolonised nations. Nevertheless, foreign financial and technical aid played an important role in the realisation of these projects. The availability of foreign aid was intrinsically tied to President Ahmad Sukarno’s ability to play the interests of all sides. This paper examines plans and preparations for the Fourth Asian Games as a case of engagement between the two Cold War blocs with Indonesia in the middle. By focusing on the key building projects for the Games, the paper reveals the role of foreign aid in the development of architecture in Indonesia during a critical period in its post-war and post-independence formation. This development took place through the interaction of different interests—those of the Western Bloc, the Eastern Bloc, and Indonesia—in the midst of the Cold War and decolonisation period. A glimpse into the interaction may suggest a case of competition. However, examination of the three projects indicates that it was a case of multipolar collaboration instead.

Short-term rentals mediated by digital platforms have positive and negative impacts that are unevenly distributed among socio-economic groups and places. Detrimental impacts on the housing market and quality of life of long-term residents have been particular contentious in some cities. • In the 12 cities studied in the report (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Prague, Rome and Vienna), city governments have responded differently to the growth of short-term rentals. • The emerging local regulations of short-term rentals take multiple forms and exhibit various degrees of stringency, ranging from rare cases of laissez-faire to a few cases of partial prohibition or strict quantitative control. Most city governments have sought to find a middle-ground approach that differentiates between the professional rental of whole units and the occasional rental of one’s home/ primary residence. • The regulation of short-term rentals is contentious and highly politicised. Six broad categories of interest groups and non-state actors actively participate in the debates with contrasting positions: advocates of the ‘sharing’ or ‘collaborative’ economy; corporate platforms; professional organisatons of short-term rental operators; new associations of hosts or ‘home-sharers’; the hotel and hospitality industry; and residents’ associations/citizens’ movements. • All city governments face difficulties in implementing and enforcing the regulations, due to a lack of sufficient resources and to the absence of accurate and comprehensive data on individual hosts. That data is held by corporate platforms, which have generally not accepted to release it (with a few exceptions) nor to monitor the content of their listings against local rules. • The relationships between platforms and city governments have oscillated between collaboration and conflict. Effective implementation is impossible without the cooperation of platforms. • In the context of the European Union, the debate has taken a supranational dimension, as two pieces of EU law frame the possibility — and acceptable forms — of regulation of online platforms and of short-term rentals in EU member states: the 2000 E-Commerce Directive and the 2006 Services Directive. • For regulation to be effective, the EU legal framework should be revised to ensure platform account- ability and data disclosure. This would allow city (and other ti ers of) governments to effectively enforce the regulations that they deem appropriate. • Besides, national and regional governments, who often control the legislative framework that defines particular types of short-term rentals, need to give local governments the necessary tools to be able to exercise their ‘right to regulate’ in the name of public interest objectives.
