Parafraseamos el título del conocido ensayo de Herbert Marcuse, puesto que la imagen que tradicionalmente se ha generado del hombre, de la masculinidad, ha sido unidimensional. Es decir, el hombre se caracterizaba por unos rasgos y conductas establecidos y afianzados desde tiempos remotos, considerándose todas las demás señas diferenciadoras como meras desviaciones impropias de lo normativo. Pero observaremos que esta realidad incuestionable, tal y como han analizado diversos investigadores a través de lo que se ha venido en denominar Men’s studies, ha demostrado ser una falacia difícil de mantener a lo largo de la historia y que en la actualidad deviene en falaz e inoperante frente a los cambios existentes en nuestros actuales modelos societarios.

Abstract:
It is difficult to obtain many labeled Link Establishment (LE) behavior signals sent by non-cooperative short-wave radio stations. We propose a novel unidimensional Auxiliary Classifier Generative Adversarial Network (ACGAN) to get more signals and then use unidimensional DenseNet to recognize LE behaviors. Firstly, a few real samples were randomly selected from many real signals as the training set of unidimensional ACGAN. Then, the new training set was formed by combining real samples with fake samples generated by the trained ACGAN. In addition, the unidimensional convolutional auto-coder was proposed to describe the reliability of these generated samples. Finally, different LE behaviors could be recognized without the communication protocol standard by using the new training set to train unidimensional DenseNet. Experimental results revealed that unidimensional ACGAN effectively augmented the training set, thus improving the performance of recognition algorithm. When the number of original training samples was 400, 700, 1000, or 1300, the recognition accuracy of unidimensional ACGAN+DenseNet was 1.92, 6.16, 4.63, and 3.06% higher, respectively, than that of unidimensional DenseNet.

En este trabajo se muestran los resultados de los experimentos realizados en el verano del 2014 en el IPICYT, para corroborar la existencia del efecto Talbot el cual consiste en la reaparición de una imagen nítida de un objeto periódico iluminado por una fuente de luz cada cierta distancia después del objeto. Esta distancia se le conoce como distancia de Talbot y da la escala espacial de este fenómeno. Se utilizaron rejillas unidimensionales periódicas, aperiódicas y bidimensionales con estructura hexagonal, todas fueron creadas previamente con el programa grafico Adobe Illustrator con las frecuencias espaciales que se calcularon que darían una distancia de Talbot que permite la observación del efecto en el laboratorio. Las rejillas se iluminaron con un láser de He-Ne de longitud de onda de 633 nm (rojo) y posteriormente se localizó a que distancia se volvía a formar la auto-imagen de la rejilla.

Uma das técnicas consideradas é a deconvolução unidimensional, que tem como finalidade eliminar distorções causadas pelas limitações em banda de frequência da fonte sísmica, bem como pela absorção de componentes e distorções de fase ocorridas durante a propagação da onda sísmica. Nesta tese, analisamos tanto métodos chamados supervisionados, em que estão disponíveis medidas adicionais às medidas sísmicas, que podem guiar o processo de deconvolução, quanto os métodos não supervisionados, em que apenas as medidas sísmicas são consideradas. Em particular, tratamos dos métodos de filtragem de Wiener e mínimos quadrados para os métodos supervisionados. Nos métodos não supervisionados, discutimos as hipóteses para o funcionamento dos métodos envolvendo as estatísticas referentes à refletividade de subsuperfície e do espectro de fase do pulso sísmico. Em particular, analisamos principalmente uso do filtro de erro de predição, que utiliza estatísticas de segunda ordem (SOS) e requer um pulso de fase mínima, e mostramos nossa contribuição sobre um método que utiliza estatísticas de ordem superior (HOS) chamado de "banded independent component analysis" (B-ICA) e que não exige que o pulso seja de fase mínima. Por fim, realizamos um estudo de caso envolvendo dados obtidos em um poço e dados sísmicos com fim de ilustrar nossa análise. Na deconvolução bidimensional são tratadas, além das distorções pela fonte sísmica consideradas na abordagem unidimensional, distorções causadas pela geometria de aquisição de dados e de variações de velocidade de propagação sísmica causadas por complexidades geológicas. Tais distorções podem ser quantificadas em imagens sísmicas obtidas pela técnica de imageamento chamada migração em profundidade pré-empilhamento (PSDM) por meio de uma relação de convolução bidimensional entre a refletividade da subsuperfície e uma função de resolução. Sob hipóteses adequadas, a função de resolução pode ser modelada como uma função de espalhamento pontual (PSF) e a deconvolução bidimensional, portanto, consiste em atenuar o efeito dessas PSFs. Neste trabalho revisamos os aspectos básicos desta modelagem e da estimação das PSFs, bem como do processo de imageamento, e mostramos a nossa contribuição para a deconvolução bidimensional por meio de um método de filtragem inversa<br>Abstract: In this work, we consider signal processing techniques that aim to improve the resolution of images of the subsurface of the Earth generated from seismic data. One such technique is uni-dimensional deconvolution, which aims to eliminate distortions caused by limitations in the seismic source frequency band, as well as distorting effects caused by frequency components absorption and phase changes during seismic propagation. We analyze both supervised methods, in which reference signals are used in addition to the seismic measurements to determine the decovolution filter, as well as unsupervised methods, in which only the seismic measurements are used. Particularly, we analyze Wiener filtering and least squares methods on the supervised case. As for the unsupervised algorithms, we discuss the hypotheses that underlie these methods, which are based on the statistics of the reflectivity of the subsurface and the phase spectrum of the wavelet pulse. We analyze especially the use of the prediction error filter, which uses second order statistics (SOS) and requires a minimum phase wavelet, and we show our contribution on a method that uses higher order statistics (HOS) called banded independent component analysis (B-ICA), which does not requires that the wavelet be minimum phase. We also present a case study using log data measured in a borehole and seismic data in order to illustrate our analysis. In bidimensional deconvolution, we consider, besides the seismic source distortions considered in the 1D approach, distortions in seismic imaging caused by the acquisition geometry and velocity model complexity associated with the geological structure of the subsurface. These distortions can be quantified in seismic images created through the technique called prestack depth migration (PSDM) using a 2D convolution model between the reflectivity of the subsurface and the so-called resolution function. Under appropriate hypotheses, the resolution function can be seen as a point spread function (PSF). Thus, the objective of 2D deconvolution is to attenuate the effect of these PSFs. Mostramos que este modelo pode ser mapeado no modelo de Ising unidimensional com interações de primeiros e segundos vizinhos. Analisamos o comportamento cinético do modelo na região do diagrama de fases em que o estado fundamental não apresenta frustação a partir de uma hipótese do tipo Glauber para a evolução temporal das configurações do modelo. Para desacoplar as equações de evolução temporal do modelo, recorremos à aproximação de pares. Nesta aproximação mostramos que o valor do expoente crítico dinâmico apresenta uma dependência da razão das intensidades das interações entre spins segundos e primeiros vizinhos.

O seguinte trabalho procura estudar problemas de fronteira móvel, conhecidos por problemas de Stefan, bem como aproximar suas soluções. Aplicações de problemas de Stefan encontram-se, por exemplo, na física termal de mudança de estados, presente em diversos fenômenos físicos e químicos naturais e na indústria. Devido a não-linearidade, a maior parte destes problemas não possuem solução analítica conhecida e uma técnica comum para se aproximar soluções é o método de balanceamento integral, inicialmente estudado por Goodman (1958). Este método e suas variações propõem perfis de aproximação no domínio da solução e resolvem uma versão integral da equação diferencial. O problema se resume a resolver uma equação diferencial ordinária no tempo envolvendo a profundidade de penetração do calor e o perfil de aproximação proposto. O trabalho estuda tais métodos para problemas termais clássicos em primeiro lugar, de modo que a extensão para problemas de Stefan seja natural. Refinamentos são apresentados, bem como uma técnica de subdivisão do espaço que resulta num esquema numérico. A técnica de imobilização e fronteira é desenvolvida e aplicada em diversos momentos, a fim de simplificar a utilização dos métodos integrais.<br>The current work aims to study moving boundary problems, known as Stefan problems, and approximate their solutions. Applications of Stefan problems are found in situations where there is change of physical state, present in several natural and industrial physical and chemical phenomena. Due to their inherent nonlinearity, most of these problems have no known analytic solution and a common technique to approximate solutions is the heat balance integral method, originally studied by Goodman (1958). This method and its variations propose an approximating profile and solve an integral version of the differential equation. The problem is reduced to solving an ordinary differential equation in time involving the depth of heat penetration and the proposed profile. This work studies such classic methods to thermal problems first, in a way that the extension to Stefan problems is natural. Refinements are presented, as well as a technique of subdividing the space domain which results in a numerical scheme. The technique of boundary immobilization is developed and applied at different times in order to simplify the use of these methods.

In this thesis, a study of one of the most representative examples of these equations is presented, the onedimensional wave equation. Para a realização dos testes foi desenvolvido um equipamento, com capacidade de 2200 kN, o qual permite ensaiar amostras com 1,00 m de diâmetro e 0,50 m de altura. Quatro amostras foram submetidas a um carregamento vertical de cerca de até 1800 kN. As curvas granulométricas das amostras adotadas foram paralelas à curva de campo. As condições sob as quais os testes foram realizados tiveram como referência às solicitações da barragem de Machadinho. A porcentagem da mistura utilizada (70% de riodacito e 30% de brecha basáltica) foi escolhida por ser semelhante ao material utilizado no trecho central da barragem. Para a caracterização do enrocamento, também, foram realizados ensaios de absorção, de resistência à abrasão, de densidades específicas e de coeficiente de forma. A pesquisa foi concentrada em três situações: atrito entre o enrocamento e a face interna da célula de compressão unidimensional, comportamento mecânico do enrocamento em relação ao colapso e a influência da molhagem da amostra durante a compactação. A instalação de "strain gages" permitiu a determinação das tensões horizontais na amostra. Desta forma, valores de K0 são apresentados e analisados. In this work are presented results of unidimensional compression tests carried out on basalt rockfill obtained from Machadinho Hydroelectric Power Plant. In order to carry out the tests, a machine with 2200 kN capacity was built and wich is capable of testing samples measuring 1,00 m diameter and 0,50 m high. Four samples were subbmitted to a vertical load up to 1800 kN and which granulometric curves are parallel with field curves, the conditions under which the tests were carried out were based on the prototype ones. The percentage of the mixture (70% rhyodacite and 30% of basaltic breccia) was chosen to be similar to the rockfill used in the central part of the dam. To characterize the rockfill other tests were carried out like absortion, abrasion resistance, specific weigh and shape factor. The research concentrated on three poins: lateral friction between the rockfill and the internal face of the unidimensional compression cell. The mechanical behaviour of the rockfill in relation to collapse settlements and the influence of wetting the sample during compaction. Through the use of strain gages was possible to measured horizontal tensions acting on the samples. In this way, values of K0 are presented and analised.

Abstract:
Background: It is important to have a critical view of the support provided by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medical context, in order to trust this support. Design and setting: Cross-sectional study (CAAE: 39292420.2.0000.5169) to measure/compare unidimensional uncertainty of an AI and a human performing the same task. Methods: to a simple algorithm written in Python (blob detection, OpenCV) and to an ophthalmologist were given the task of detecting a two-dimensional pattern (center of the optical disc) in 1,000 digital images of normal/ abnormal fundoscopies. Algorithm performed the task 1x, human performed the task 2x, both using digital register of spatial coordinates. Machine’s unidimensional level of uncertainty was measured by the respective comparison of the x and y coordinates recorded by machine and human. Human’s unidimensional level of uncertainty was measured by comparing the coordinates recorded by human itself. Data analysis was performed using R. Results: AI failed to detect the target pattern onlyin two images. On average, man and machine showed a higher level of uncertainty in the y- coordinates, which was greater (~100 units) in machine’s performance. The level of uncertainty was higher in altered fundoscopy images. Conclusion: the measure of uncertainty of AI and humans in the same task can help understand AI limitations and therefore define its usefulness as a medical support tool.

Não resta dúvida de que a evolução da humanidade se deve, em grande parte, às descobertas cientícas oriundas de pesquisas dos mais variados ramos do conhecimento. Nesse contexto, as universidades desempenham um importante papel como propulsoras do avanço do conhecimento, visto que participam diretamente dos processos de formação de novos pesquisadores, os quais necessitarão estar preparados para enfrentar os desaos que os aguardam. Alinhado a isso está a missão da Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS), direcionada para a produção, sistematização e socialização do conhecimento, com qualidade e relevância, sempre em busca do desenvolvimento sustentável. Aliás, quando se fala em desenvolvimento sustentável, devemos considerar que a sustentabilidade não é uma variável unidimensional, mas sim um elemento a ser abordado nas suas dimensões econômica, social e ambiental. No contexto organizacional, cada vez mais o desenvolvimento e a prosperidade acontecem a partir do momento em que as tomadas de decisão se valem de embasamento cientíco,suportadas com dados concretos e informações devidamente validadas. Com isso, existe uma tendência de que tais decisões tenham uma assertividade cada vez mais alta. Inserido no ambiente da UCS desde o ano de 2006 está o Programa de PósGraduação em Administração – Mestrado e Doutorado (PPGA),cujo propósito é o de capacitar recursos humanos para a pesquisa na área da gestão, preparando-os para atuar tanto na docência quanto nos níveis gerenciais e de liderança nas organizações. Entretanto, mesmo durante o processo de formação, os futuros pesquisadores já estão envolvidos em atividades de pesquisa e de interação com o ambiente externo à universidade, especialmente na solução de problemas organizacionais de diferentes níveis de complexidade. Em vista disso, na busca por uma maior divulgação das atividades realizadas no PPGA ao ambiente externo, emergiu a necessidade da elaboração de um relatório das atividades, o Anuário do PPGA. Nesta que é a segunda edição do referido anuário, além de apresentar algumas informações ordem interna, procurou-se elencar os acontecimentos mais relevantes ocorridos no PPGA no decorrer do ano de 2021, um ano ainda marcado pelas grandes restrições sanitárias. Por m, agradeço a todos que, de alguma forma, ajudaram a construir a história do PPGA e a transformá-lo no que ele representa atualmente.
