Abstract:
To solve the precise positioning issue of underwater maneuver targets (UMTs), based on sea-surface wireless sensor networks (S2WSN) technique, this paper proposes a new positioning algorithm without exterior satellite-based or earth-based wireless navigation information as well as underwater space-time datum. The measure equations of UMT’s positioning are assembled by combining the relative radio ranges among ships with the angles of arrival from UMT. Monte Carlo simulation demonstrates that the bias of the proposed algorithm, in which the weight of heterogeneous information is adaptively adjusted by Helmert technology, is only 10% around of the conventional single platform acoustics positioning technology.

Abstract:
In this paper, we evaluate the performance of UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) downlink system in vicinity of UWB system. The study is achieved via simulating a scenario of a building which is located within UMTS cell borders and utilizes from both UMTS and UWB appliances. The simulation results show that the UMTS system is considerably affected by the UWB interference. However, in order to battle this interference and achieve reasonable BER (Bit Error Rate) of 10-4, we found that it is very necessary to carefully raise the UMTS base station transmitted power against that of UWB interferer. So, the minimum requirements for UMTS system to overcome UWB interference are stated in this work.

Current literature provides many practical tools and theoretical methods to design, plan, and dimension Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) radio networks but overlooks the algorithms of network planning and dimensioning for core networks of GSM, UMTS and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). This paper introduces an algorithm for traffic, bandwidth and throughput dimensioning of the network entities in the UMTS core network, based on the traffic and throughput generated or absorbed in the interfaces of the network entities. A case study is provided to verify the algorithms created for UMTS core network. This paper helps UMTS network operators dimension and build an optimum network to deliver the best quality of service for users. The algorithms developed in the paper have been successfully applied in dimensioning a nationwide UMTS network in North Africa and adopted in an optimization tool by a mobile operator in the United States in 2008-2009.

Abstract:
We aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) diagnosis system for uterine smooth muscle tumors (UMTs) by using deep learning. We analyzed the morphological features of UMTs on whole-slide images (233, 108, and 30 digital slides of leiomyosarcomas, leiomyomas, and smooth muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential stained with hematoxylin and eosin, respectively). Aperio ImageScope software randomly selected ≥10 areas of the total field of view. Pathologists randomly selected a marked region in each section that was no smaller than the total area of 10 high-power fields in which necrotic, vascular, collagenous, and mitotic areas were labeled. We constructed an automatic identification algorithm for cytological atypia and necrosis by using ResNet and constructed an automatic detection algorithm for mitosis by using YOLOv5. A logical evaluation algorithm was then designed to obtain an automatic UMT diagnostic aid that can “study and synthesize” a pathologist’s experience. The precision, recall, and F1 index reached more than 0.920. The detection network could accurately detect the mitoses (0.913 precision, 0.893 recall). For the prediction ability, the AI system had a precision of 0.90. An AI-assisted system for diagnosing UMTs in routine practice scenarios is feasible and can improve the accuracy and efficiency of diagnosis.

Abstract:
The universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) has distinct benefits in that it supports a wide range of quality of service (QoS) criteria that users require in order to fulfill their requirements. The transmission of video and audio in real-time applications places a high demand on the cellular network, therefore QoS is a major problem in these applications. The ability to provide QoS in the UMTS backbone network necessitates an active QoS mechanism in order to maintain the necessary level of convenience on UMTS networks. For UMTS networks, investigation models for end-to-end QoS, total transmitted and received data, packet loss, and throughput providing techniques are run and assessed and the simulation results are examined. According to the results, appropriate QoS adaption allows for specific voice and video transmission. Finally, by analyzing existing QoS parameters, the QoS performance of 4G/UMTS networks may be improved.

Abstract:
Mobile packet services are penetrating mobile markets rapidly. The mobile industry relies heavily on data services to replace traditional voice services. Designing a reliable packet service network is critical to the mobile operators’ ability to maintain their core competence in a data service market. The current literature provides many practical tools and theoretical methods to design, plan and dimension Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) radio networks but overlooks the algorithms of network plan and dimensioning for the core networks. This paper introduces the algorithms to dimension the throughput for packet switched domain of a UMTS network. The analysis is based on the traffic and data throughput generated and absorbed in the interfaces of network entities in UMTS PS network. A case study is provided to verify the algorithms created for UMTS PS network. This paper provides UMTS PS network operators an optimum network size and network structure to deliver an optimum quality of service for users.

Abstract:
The past few years have seen mobile operators transition to next-generation mobile networks, specifically from third-generation networks (3G) to long term evolution (LTE). This paper describes the basic architecture and topology of UMTS R4 core network and introduces two options in network planning, i.e., flat structure or layered structure. This paper introduces the re-homing of radio network controller (RNC) and base station controller (BSC) and studies the impact on the performance of voice core of UMTS networks. The proposed RNC re-homing models are created and analyzed for voice core of UMTS networks. The paper concludes that the appropriate RNC re-homing optimizes the traffic of voice core in UMTS network.

Abstract:
Abstract. An expanded effort is under the way to support the evolution of UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System). Apart from delivering high data rates, future UMTS releases will also require to provide high network performance in terms of system capacity, low radiated power, and high coverage. Well promising performance-enhancing technologies are smart antennas as well as multiuser detection. Although these new radio technologies have recently been subject to intense research, main UMTS network integration aspects with their specific constraints have been neglected in many cases. Especially the interaction with UMTS radio resource control being required to meet Quality of Service (QoS) constraints has to be included to assess the applicability of these technologies for UMTS. In this paper, we study the interaction of beamforming concepts as well as multiuser detection with load and power control. We also work out UMTS specific constraints like signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) operating points, pilot power pollution or channel estimation, all strongly limiting network performance. Results are shown for capacity gains and power reduction for all beamforming concepts of interest as well as linear multiuser detection schemes. The results show that fix as well as user-specific beamforming significantly improves network performance gains in downlink. In uplink multiuser detection indicates fairly modest system capacity gains, while it reduces tremendously mobile station power.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the strategic role played by the University Management Teams (hereafter, UMTs) as a key internal stakeholder for the successful performance and sustainability of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Regarding the UMTs, we focus on four main dimensions: profile (background and professional experience), response to a dilemmatic situation, training needs (technical and managerial skills) and strategic management orientation. By using MAXQDA (v.10) data analysis software, we apply a qualitative methodological approach, based on in-depth semi-structured and reflexive interviews with a sample of UMTs belonging to a young small-sized Spanish university, characterized by its trajectory and involvement in strategic management. We found some consensus regarding the main drivers of the UMTs managerial performance, where the seniority in the academic position, institutional engagement, previous training on management (mentorship), professionalization and strategic thought are crucial to ensuring a more flexible, adaptive, competitive and sustainable HEI in the long term.

Abstract:
Over the years the need for mobile broadband had seen a great increment due to the demand of internet mobile users. In this research work, data size for Internet operation on UMTS mobile network operators on the University of Ilorin Campus was assessed. The study assessed three UMTS network operators using an Infinix T627 android smart phone and RantCell App. to measure the download and upload at the selected points on the University of Ilorin Campus. It was observed that the number of active subscribers with their relative position in a cell have a great effect on the performance of the networks and therefore, the authors recommend the need for the operators to improve their data sizes so as to enhance users’ satisfaction. Abstract:
Introduction: Surgery for refractory temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) has been a well-defined procedure to provide seizure control in the recent years. Objective: The aim of the present study is to evaluate seizure outcome of patients with TLE and bilateral mesial temporal sclerosis (bMTS) after cortico-amygdalohippocampectomy compared with those presenting unilateral (uMTS) lesions. Method: A case-controlled study was conducted in patients with TLE and bMTS or uMTS treated in the epilepsy clinic of the Faculdade de Medicina de Sao Jose do Rio Preto (FAMERP), a Brazilian tertiary referral epilepsy center, from January 2000 to March 2012. Patients with neuroradiological evidence and/or neuropathological confirmation of other diseases than MTS, as well as additional potential epileptogenic MRI-lesions, were excluded from the study. Results: During this period, 533 patients underwent multidisciplinary investigation of epilepsy and 229 (43%) fulfilled criteria to be included in the present study, 60 (26.2%) with bMTS and 169 (73,8%) with uMTS. Thirty-seven (61.6%) were classified as Engel I in bMTS group, while 107 (63.3%), were classified as Engel in uMTS group. There was no mortality in both groups. Conclusion: The present data highlight that a favorable seizure outcome can also be obtained in patients with bMTS after adequate pre-surgical evaluation.
