Abstract:
A lack of adequate consideration of underwater image enhancement gives room for more research into the field. The global background light has not been adequately addressed amid the presence of backscattering. This paper presents a technique based on pixel differences between global and local patches in scene depth estimation. The pixel variance is based on green and red, green and blue, and red and blue channels besides the absolute mean intensity functions. The global background light is extracted based on a moving average of the impact of suspended light and the brightest pixels within the image color channels. We introduce the block-greedy algorithm in a novel Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) proposed to normalize different color channels’ attenuation ratios and select regions with the lowest variance. We address the discontinuity associated with underwater images by transforming both local and global pixel values. We minimize energy in the proposed CNN via a novel Markov random field to smooth edges and improve the final underwater image features. A comparison of the performance of the proposed technique against existing state-of-the-art algorithms using entropy, Underwater Color Image Quality Evaluation (UCIQE), Underwater Image Quality Measure (UIQM), Underwater Image Colorfulness Measure (UICM), and Underwater Image Sharpness Measure (UISM) indicate better performance of the proposed approach in terms of average and consistency. As it concerns to averagely, UICM has higher values in the technique than the reference methods, which explainsits higher color balance. The μ values of UCIQE, UISM, and UICM of the proposed method supersede those of the existing techniques. The proposed noted a percent improvement of 0.4%, 4.8%, 9.7%, 5.1% and 7.2% in entropy, UCIQE, UIQM, UICM and UISM respectively compared to the best existing techniques. Consequently, dehazed images have sharp, colorful, and clear features in most images when compared to those resulting from the existing state-of-the-art methods. Stable σ values explain the consistency in visual analysis in terms of sharpness of color and clarity of features in most of the proposed image results when compared with reference methods. Our own assessment shows that only weakness of the proposed technique is that it only applies to underwater images. Future research could seek to establish edge strengthening without color saturation enhancement.

Abstract:
Vaccine hesitancy as a great health risk is related to trust in healthcare providers’ recommendations and provider-parent interaction. The negative image of doctors and their motives may hinder open communication and trustful relationship. As the role of the internet as a source for health information and emotional support has become significant, social media discussions about health and medicine provide valuable opportunities to observe the formation of critical attitudes towards doctors and medicine. This article examines representations of medical specialists in an Estonian vaccine-critical public Facebook group. On the forum, doctors are depicted as dumb and blind believers who operate in a wrong paradigm and are not able to see the full and accurate picture of “real health”. According to the group rhetoric, doctors’ willingness to help parents and children is limited as they depend on a broader exploitive medical system or Big Pharma. As medical specialists are not trustworthy and do not take any responsibility, parents feel that they must closely control all the actions. The group members believe that it is better not tell the truth to doctors and, if necessary, to threaten them with law enforcement. Many of the forum posts are very emotional, illustrating the heavy burden parents perceive in taking vaccine-related decisions. The ridiculing of medical specialists has an empowering effect on patients to feel more in control. Forum posts emphasize common belonging and shared concerns. Therefore, social media is not only a stage for vaccine information but an active factor contributing to the circulation of meanings and enabling emotional support and community formation.

Abstract:
Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) was one of the initiatives of the Malaysia Ministry of Education to ensure the standard of our national education system was at par with the global education trends. This initiative was documented in Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015 -2025 (Higher Education, Shift No.9: Globalised Online Learning). Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) was among the public universities in Malaysia that were seriously involved in MOOC development. Starting with one MOOC in 2014, four MOOCs in 2015, 16 MOOCs in 2016, UiTM embarked into developing 450 new MOOCs in 2017. To ensure UiTM MOOC had achieved the required standard and quality of Malaysian MOOC, an internal guideline for UiTM MOOC Development (i-Learn Centre, 2016) was constructed. The construction of the guideline was based on the standard provided by the Guidelines of Development and Delivery of Malaysian MOOC (KPT, 2017). Some additional elements required by the administrator of UiTM MOOC were also added. The study was interested to determine whether the MOOCs developed by UiTM lecturers complied with the standard of UiTM MOOC and ultimately the Malaysian MOOC. It was also interested to determine the readiness of UiTM MOOC for credit transfer. To do that, a UiTM MOOC Evaluation Checklist was introduced. The checklist consisted of 45 questions which were constructed based on the guideline on UiTM MOOC Development (i-Learn Centre, 2016) and the Guidelines for Credit Transfer for MOOC (MQA, 2016). The study evaluated two active UiTM MOOCs in terms of adherence to the standard of UiTM MOOC. The findings of the study highlighted areas to be improved and provided suggestions to increase readiness for MOOC credit transfer.

Abstract:
The establishment of a Higher Learning Institution (HLI) has posed some positive impacts on the community and industry within its vicinity. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Perlis has been established for over 40 years. Therefore, with the concern about the effect of UiTM Cawangan Perlis on the local population, there has been some critical questions that have not been addressed. To what degree does the presence of UiTM Cawangan Perlis affect the industry within its vicinity? This study aims to investigate the growth of industrial development in Perlis due to the existence of this HLI. Data was collected using an online survey which was distributed to 198 respondents selected using systematic sampling from the list of active businesses registered with Kangar Municipal Council. Data collected was analysed and compared with the data collected in the same study carried out in 2007. The result of this study has revealed that UiTM Cawangan Perlis existence has contributed to both direct and indirect impact on the industrial growth, particularly in the revenue generation in the form of gross profit and the supply of highly qualified manpower. It is hoped that the result of this study could be used by UiTM to justify the return of the investment made by the government and strategize the plan for UiTM Cawangan Perlis development and sustainability in the future.

Abstract:
The aviation hydraulic actuator (HA) is a key component of the flight control system in an aircraft. It is necessary to consider the occurrence of multiple faults under harsh conditions during a flight. This study designs a multi-fault diagnosis method based on the updated interacting multiple model (UIMM). The correspondence between the failure modes and the key physical parameters of HA is found by analyzing the fault mode and mechanism. The key physical parameters of HA can be estimated by employing a series of extended Kalman filters (EKF) related to the different modes of HA. The models in UIMM are updated once the fault is determined. UIMM can reduce the number of fault models and avoid combinatorial explosion in the case of multiple faults. Simulation results indicate that the multi-fault diagnosis method based on UIMM is effective for multi-fault diagnosis of electro-hydraulic servo actuation system.

ABSTRACT Background The Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE) stratifies the assessment of emergency medicine (EM) bound medical applicants. However, bias in SLOE, particularly regarding race and ethnicity, is an underexplored area. Objective This study aims to assess whether underrepresented in medicine (UIM) and non-UIM applicants are rated differently in SLOE components. Methods This was a cross-section study of EM-bound applicants across 3 geographically distinct US training programs during the 2019-2020 application cycle. Using descriptive and regression analyses, we examine the differences between UIM applicants and non-UIM applicants for each of the SLOE components: 7 qualifications of an EM physician (7QEM), global assessment (GA) rating, and projected rank list (RL) position. Results Out of a combined total of 3759, 2002 (53.3%) unique EM-bound applicants were included. UIM applicants had lower ratings for each of the 7QEM questions, GA, and RL positions. Compared to non-UIM applicants, only some of the 7QEM components: “Work ethic and ability to assume responsibility,” “Ability to work in a team, and “Ability to communicate a caring nature,” were associated with their SLOE. “Commitment to EM” correlated more with GA for UIM than for non-UIM applicants. Conclusions This study shows a difference in SLOE rating, with UIM applicants receiving lower ratings than non-UIM applicants.

Abstract:
The MDAB programme is a remedial course introduced by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in June 2010. The main objective of the programme is to give an opportunity to Bumiputera students having under qualified entry results and coming from low income families to further their tertiary studies in UiTM. The students entering this programme are fully sponsored and to date about 22000 students have undergone this programme and about RM20 million has been spent just for the students’ allowance. Thus, this research was embarked to investigate the overall performance of the students in this programme in order to justify that the money invested was indeed well spent and also such remedial courses have helped the students. The performance of all MDAB students for the last nine semesters as well as the performance of a particular MDAB programme namely Pre-Science at UiTM Sarawak are reported in this paper. The results showed that 83.43% of the overall MDAB students managed to complete the courses and continued their studies at diploma level. However, only 70.94% of Pre-Science students in UiTM Sarawak managed to complete their courses. In general, the overall performance showed that the programme has indeed succeeded in helping the students to further their studies at a higher level. Abstract:
This paper aims to achieve the accurate prediction of box girder deformation in SCS-enhanced PSC continuous box girder bridges. To this end, the authors proposed a box girder deformation prediction model based on unequal interval grey model (UIGM) and residual composite correction (RCC). Firstly, the tension forces of cables and the deformation data of box girder were regarded as the time sequence and the original unequal interval sequence, respectively, and the UIGM was constructed to predict the box girder deformation. Secondly, the sine function was constructed on the average features of the residual sequence waveform, and the periodic sequence function was generated by harmonic transform. The two functions were employed to extract the implicit periodic information and overcome the limitation of the UIGM (i.e., the UIGM only generates the change rate of a single index). Finally, the Markov chain method was adopted to treat the random fluctuations and further enhance the prediction accuracy and adaptability of the model. Then, the proposed UIGM-RCC was applied to predict the box girder deformation of Dongming Huanghe River Highway Bridge and forecast the settlement of a building mentioned in previous research. The results show that the proposed model can reflect the exact periodicity and random fluctuations of box girder deformation in SCS-enhanced PSC continuous box girder bridges. The research findings provide a meaningful reference for improving deformation prediction accuracy in SCS-enhanced structures.

Abstract:
In this work we started from the basic idea that the pure polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) cannot be the real carriers of the unidentified infrared bands (UIBs), the emission spectra coming from a large variety of astronomical objects. Instead we propose a new model taken from petroleum chemistry which, we can show, is able to match both the UIBs and even the protoplanetary nebulae (PPNe) spectra. PAHs such as phenanthrene, benzoperylene, coronene and pentacene, are too pure and too specific to really exist in the interstellar medium. Instead our model proposes that the carrier of UIBs and PPNe are complex molecular mixtures like those obtained as fractions during the petroleum refining processes. These molecular mixtures are so complex that practically the investigators did not try to identify each individual component but characterized the mixture with an average molecular structure that takes into account both the average molecular weight and the average content of aromatic, naphtenic (cycloaliphatic) and aliphatic (paraffinic) fraction. We show by infrared spectroscopy that petroleum fractions obtained at certain steps of the refining process are able to match the UIBs and the PPNe infrared bands with the advantage of not being so specific as PAHs are. Namely we have used as samples a distillate aromatic extract (DAE) a treated residual aromatic extract (T-RAE) and finally a naphtenic oil. Among the three samples examined, the DAE sample was the best in matching the UIBs and PPNe spectra.

Abstract:
The establishment of waqf funds in institutions of higher learning is increasingly being developed by many public and private institutions of higher learning throughout the country. The phenomenon of the establishment of waqf funds has triggered great innovations in the development of waqf in the country. It is in line with the launch of the UniTP Purple Book Guidelines that has been enforced for use in October 2016 by the Ministry of Higher Education to develop their respective endowment management centers to generate income. In this regard, UiTM Perlis Branch took the initiative to establish the UiTM Perlis Knowledge Endowment Fund (DWIPs). Thus, this study examined the issues and challenges faced by DWIPs in helping the income generation of higher learnings institutions. This study used a qualitative method with a case study at UiTM Perlis Branch. The experience of the authors and fellow authors who led DWIPs from the beginning of the establishment to the present were analyzed and described descriptively and comparatively. The findings of the study found that there are four issues and challenges, which are lack of understanding and public awareness of waqf, management bureaucracy problems, lack of energy resources in the management of DWIPs as well as legal and financial barriers. The results of this study are intended to help spread awareness of DWIPs among the staff and gain attention from the university management. In relation to that, it can also increase the amount of knowledge endowment fund collection and benefit all UiTM Perlis Branch staff.

Abstract:
Writing is an important skill in learning a foreign language. Through writing a student will be able to supplement his other skills and improve the mastery of the language. Writing is also important in any way because it can help improve student achievement in the lesson. Mastery of writing skills among students is not limited to a short period of time, even extending throughout their lifespan. This paper aims to identify the weaknesses of the students in mastering the writing skills of Arabic in order to consider the solution to this problem. This study was conducted on 30 first year diploma students who took the Arabic language (TAC151) as the third language in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Melaka. The students are also comprised of those who do not have a religious education background in primary and secondary schools. This study uses sample writing in a week without a wall (Week Without Wall) titled 'Preparation for examination' as a data finding. The findings show that the main weakness of the students in writing is involving dictation and spelling, gender adjustment, verb usage, and idhofah use. This paper also discusses the factors that contribute to the weakness of students in mastering writing skills and some suggestions on the improvement of the lecturer's teaching techniques to help students master Arabic writing skills.

Abstract:
Background: The aim of the study is focussed very keenly at performing RCA (root cause analysis) of those particular sample containing the absurd results of the Serum UIBC (Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity), which was also tallied vigilantly side by side with Serum Iron observed at Clinical Biochemistry laboratory of The New Civil Hospital Surat, Gujarat. Methods: The Absurd value from the samples requested for Serum Iiron and Serum Serum UIBC (Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity) from month of August 2018 till the month of August 2019 were taken in to account for analysis. RCA (root cause analysis) of absurd value for Serum Iron and Serum UIBC (Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity) which were prepared was mainly focused on tallying with Serum Calcium and Serum Potassium result. Results: With the continious and strenous monitoring from the side of the researchers, the researchers had throughly analysed and found that in almost all of those analysed test containing absurd results of Serum Iron and Serum UIBC(Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity) which were some way or the other, associated with absurd results of Serum Calcium along with absurd result of Serum Potassium too from the same samples. Conclusions: The Absurd results of Serum Calcium and Serum Potassium are caused mainly due to pre-analytical errors more likely due to the sample contamination with EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid). The contaminated EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid) sample cause interference in Serum Iron measurement by producing turbidity in sample and in Serum UIBC (Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity) by chelating Iron.

Abstract:
<span>Research Productivity (RP) is the key element in the establishment of ranking and rating system in the Higher Education (HE) sector. Despite of the many initiatives taken to enliven the research culture among academic staff, there are still constraints and resistance towards conducting research. Therefore, this study attempts to identify the factors affecting RP and develop an appropriate model to determine the RP of an academic staff in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). In this study, 5 research related indicators were used in the determination of RP. Since the population size of UiTM is large, the primary data was collected by using questionnaire survey and stratified random sampling. The variables that were found to be significant in determining RP of an academic staff were age cohort, highest qualification, cluster and track emphasis. Satisfaction towards annual KPI, UiTM current policy and monthly income were also found to influence the RP of an academic staff. In addition, perceiving the role of principal investigator as a chore and burden and supervising and graduating a PhD student perception as burden and pleasure were also found to be affecting RP. Using these variables, Logistic Regression Model was used to determine the RP of an academic staff in UiTM. In conclusion, personal, environmental and behavioural factors were found to have influence on the RP among academic staff of UiTM. Therefore, generally it is possible to maximize the RP of academic staff by identifying the factors influencing RP followed by strategic management and proper monitoring system.</span>

Abstract:
The Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) is a new online learning platform that provides training beyond the classroom based on casual and social learning. Current learning methods that use PowerPoint slides usually bore students who would easily lose focus on their learning. MOOCs provide a new era of learning style with various learning methods. Using attractive notes with the aid of video, animation, and a variety of activities to promote a better learning environment adaptively. It is accessible anytime, anywhere, and gives flexibility to students in managing their learning routine. Therefore, UiTM Perak (Tapah Campus) has taken an initiative to implement MOOCs in one of the diploma subjects which is “Introduction to Actuarial Mathematics” (ASC305). Actuarial Mathematics is a subject taught under the actuarial science program in preparation for the professional actuarial examination under the Society of Actuaries (SOA), as well as getting students to understand the actuarial aspects of the current life insurance system. On top of that, this MOOC has encouraged worldwide participants where one will have experience in practicing their fundamental knowledge on each topic. The real-time communication between the instructor and participants for knowledge sharing, brainstorming, and exchanging opinions create a positive ambiance of "classroom-beyond-borders". Using MOOCs for the course opens great opportunities for instructors to be creatively and innovatively involved in preparing attractive content, learning activities, and hands-on assessments that suit all learning styles (auditory, visual, reading and writing, and kinesthetics). Thus, this paper illustrates and describes the development of Introduction to Actuarial Mathematics using MOOCs (https://ufuture.uitm.edu.my/courses/summary/ASC305).

Abstract:
In today’s competitive business world, marketing is critically important to universities in positioning a product to attract the interest of its clients, which are the prospective students. As for public universities such as University Teknologi Mara (UiTM), the key to survive the increasing competition and financial difficulties is through their alumni loyalty. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that affects the Alumni Loyalty towards UiTM. This study tests a model derived from a relationship marketing perspective to investigate the effects of components of University Brand Image which are Academic System, Reputation, Employability, Shared Values and Social Network on the Alumni Loyalty towards UiTM. Based on the literature review, a theoretical model is proposed and tested through Partial Least Square - Structural Equations Modelling (PLS-SEM) using a sample of 815 UiTM alumni. The results reveal that the significant factors that affect Alumni Loyalty are Reputation, Employability and Shared Values. In addition, the results highlight that Academic System do not affect Alumni Loyalty directly but rather indirectly through the mediation of Satisfaction. Overall, Academic System, Reputation, Employability and Shared Values are important in explaining the variance of Alumni Loyalty. University should be careful about the quality of the course offered and methods of delivery by the academicians since the implication of an Academic System is significant toward the loyalty of alumni.

Abstract:
The Upper Indus Basin (UIB) supplies water resources for the downstream areas of the Indus Basin, and the associated climate changes have attracted considerable attention. Here, we project the aridity changes in the UIB during the 21st century relative to 1995-2014 based on 12 Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) models under the 3 Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP) scenarios. The aridity index (AI), defined as the ratio of annual precipitation to potential evapotranspiration (PET), is applied to quantify the dry conditions. According to the median of the preferred models, the annual mean temperature is projected to increase continually in the UIB across the 21st century under SSP2-45 and SSP5-85, and it increases before the 2050s and then stabilizes afterwards under SSP1-26. Generally, PET will increase and AI will decrease (a drying trend) in the UIB during the 21st century. The regionally averaged AI over the UIB linearly decreases as global warming intensifies at a slope of 0.1 °C-1 under both SSP2-45 and SSP5-85. Remarkable increases in aridity occur in the northern and northwest parts of the UIB. Seasonally, the largest decrease in AI is seen in December-January-February, and the smallest occurs in June-July-August. Furthermore, PET plays a key role in AI changes, excluding the southeast part of UIB, and the percent contribution of PET to AI changes tends to increase over time in the 21st century. Overall, AI and PET changes are primarily determined by thermodynamic factors in the UIB.

Abstract:
The effects of Covid-19 are not only in terms of health, but many things arise along with its existence. One of them is poverty. Due to this, Universiti Teknologi MARA(UiTM) has taken the initiative to offer several financial aids to the affected students. However, the students must fill in the application form to obtain the aid. They need to provide the supporting documents such as parents pay slip, information on family dependent and so on, which will be inspected, graded and selected by the committee to determine the qualification for the financial aids. Due to this, it will be a long process to select the rightful applicants, which involves a significant length of time as it consisted of hundreds of applicants. Hence, the aim of this study is to select and rank the most eligible candidates among UiTM Perlis students with fairness, fast and accurate manner. In this study, the Fuzzy Technique for Others Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method was used to solve the problem. The model was run using Microsoft Excel. The selection of UiTM Perlis students were based on a set of criteria that had been predetermined which includes family income, occupation and the number of dependent in the family. The findings of the study showed that from 35 samples of UiTM Perlis students, the highest-ranking was student 35 (S35) with 1.0000 relative closeness. Meanwhile, the lowest ranking was student 30 (S30) with 0.6478 relative closeness. It is also shown that all samples are qualified to receive financial aid due to sufficient allocation amount provided by UiTM Perlis. As a result, the mistakes during the selection process can be reduced by using this method compared to manual selection. Thus, making it easier and faster to channel the aid. All in all, it has been demonstrated that this method is very suitable to be used in this study.

Abstract:
Since the opening of Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam Campus (UiTM-SAC), the university has accommodated its students by providing free bus transportation around the campus. The buses are operated based on a specific time schedule. However, students often have to wait a long time for buses because the buses do not usually arrive on schedule. In addition, the bus schedule is manually controlled by an officer, which takes time, and the data can easily be lost. Hence, the goal of this research is to develop a bus tracking and monitoring system for the UiTM-SAC. Arduino node microcontroller unit and global positioning system (GPS) sensors were used to send and receive GPS location information. The data retrieved from these sensors were displayed on an organic light-emitting diode and stored in a web-based software spreadsheet. For the experimental test, only one bus was used for collecting and analysing data. Data were immediately presented on the user interface. The results indicate that the system was able to track and monitor the bus by providing the bus’s latitude, longitude and speed. The results also revealed some key factors that affect the time required for a bus to complete a route based on users’ demands at that time. The difference in demand was 76.2%, as most students use the UiTM bus service in the morning than in the evening. In conclusion, by using the proposed bus campus tracking and monitoring system, users can easily find the exact location of buses running at the UiTM-SAC

Abstract:
A computational tool, called a Unified Integral Method (UIM) is reviewed. The method is used for preliminary design and performance analysis of simple diffusers with thin inlet boundary layers and subsonic flow in their inviscid core regions. The assumptions needed for application of a UIM are not very restrictive in many practical cases: straight diffusers with thin, turbulent inlet boundary layers and subsonic, irrotational core flows. The method provides designers with useful results including pressure recovery, location of separation and stalled regions, and exit plane profiles which may be used to evaluate total pressure loss and various flow distortion indices. Besides reviewing some basic concepts concerning stall and separation, describing the basis of the method and some details for making the UIM work, actual cases where it was tested versus data are discussed. In addition, UIM results are compared to results obtained by a RANS method run in a well known duct flow solver for a subsonic diffuser where data are also available. In another case, its output and data were compared to results from a CFD code typical of the many design codes in use in industry today. In both cases, the UIM results were as good, or better than those from the higher level methods, and the UIM is much simpler and easier to use as a design tool.

Abstract:
In this paper, an unified information description model (“UIDM” for short) is proposed to model information from multiple sources in the Information Grid uniformly. In the UIDM: 1) An unified information description language derived from the ODLI3 is presented to describe information uniformly to resolve the information heterogeneity; 2) A set of diagrammatized information modeling symbols are defined to model the information diagrammatically to illustrate the semantic relationships between information classes; 3) An information capability model is advanced to model the capability of information from different information sources, based on which the high-performance global views for information sharing are to be constructed.

Abstract:
Language anxiety is one of the factors that needs to be considered in learning and teaching second or foreign language. Language anxiety can be defined as the feelings of uneasiness, worry, nervousness, self-doubt, frustration and apprehension (Brown, 2001) experienced by non-native speakers when learning or using a second or foreign language. Learners respond to language anxiety differently. This study investigates the language anxiety levels and coping strategies applied by adult learners of UiTM Sarawak in using English as a medium of instruction. The subjects of the study involved those between 45 to 50 years of age. The data collection was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results from the study show that the adult learners have different levels of language anxiety and they have also adopted several strategies in coping with their anxiety. The conclusion of the study presents suggestions and recommendations on ways in handling anxiety in both teaching and learning second language.

Abstract:
Food delivery service is an uprising service that were used worldwide. It can be used in few platforms such as mobile apps or a website. It usually involves 3 types of users which are the customer, the rider, and the restaurant. It also brings a lot of benefit in an individual daily life. If people had no time to prepare their meal, or stuck in a back-to-back meeting session, food delivery service is an option to fix their meal break. However, food delivery service is only available in a busy and high-density household area in Malaysia. This project proposed a UiTM Tapah EAT mobile application for UiTM Tapah Students, a food delivery service that can be used in an Android smartphone as a mobile app and able to receive notification of order status in real-time. Since Tapah is a small town placed in Perak, it also holds a university that occupied with about 2,000 students at one time. These students have few limitations of buying meal outside of the university or they are too busy with their schedule. This project uses Android Studio, an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for Android app development to design the pages using XML and develop the functions of the mobile app using Java language. Besides, this project also used Firebase, a mobile and web application developments platform that helps in storing the data in real-time. Once the development process complete, this project was tested with functionality test that list all the functions available in the app to be evaluated accordingly. The results of the experiment show that all functions in the app successfully executed including the notification system between two end-users, the customer and the runner.

Abstract:
Objective: To determine the prevalence of bimaxillary protrusion in general and the prevalence of skeletal Class I and dental Class I bimaxillary protrusion/ proclination among orthodontic patients attending postgraduate orthodontic clinic at Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Sungai Buloh, Malaysia. Materials and Methods: This is a cross sectional study which was carried out in two stages. The first part involves a random selection of 100 extra-oral profile photographs taken from postgraduate orthodontic residents’ patient list. The photographs were taken using Canon digital SLR camera EOS 70D with macro lens EF 100mm (Canon Inc., Tokyo, Japan) with patients in natural head position. The photographs were visually analysed for its bimaxillary protrusion features by two operators. The second part comprises of analyses of extra-oral profile photographs as well as intra-oral photographs of right buccal segment view which was conducted in two separate sittings. In the first sitting, five assessors analysed 259 extra - and intra-oral photographs followed by 40 photographs assessed in the second sitting for skeletal and dental Class I bimaxillary protrusion/ proclination. Statistical analysis for Kappa score was performed to assess the agreement between assessors using SPSS version 23 and Stata version 13. Results: The first part of the study showed an average prevalence of 34% with bimaxillary protrusion in 100 orthodontic patients. Whilst in the second part, prevalence of skeletal and dental Class I bimax ranging from 28-33 per cent and 38-40 percent respectively with very good and good inter-reliability agreement for both component. Conclusion: The prevalence of bimaxillary protrusion in general among UiTM orthodontic patients was found to range from 31 percent to 37 percent. Whilst the prevalence of skeletal and dental Class I bimax ranging from 28-33 percent and 38-40 percent respectively.

Abstract:
Abstract Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is regarded as one of the largest higher education institutions (HEIs) in Malaysia. Significantly, HEIs are increasingly seen as catalysts for development, with substantial contribution not only as providers of education and research but also as an active role in developing their economic, social and cultural surroundings. Thus, it is thought the existence of HEIs particularly UiTM as key players in global development, alongside being significant contributors to local urban areas’ development. UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang (UiTMCPP) was first established in June 1996 at a temporary site in Permatang Pasir as the university’s eleventh campus. In August 2003, UiTMCPP relocates to a permanent campus in Jalan Permatang Pauh. The main purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the UiTMCPP Permatang Pauh campus on the local area’s urban expansion. In this study, multi-temporal satellite imageries, Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) in three different years (1999, 2009, and 2019) was processed by Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing techniques to distinguish the spatial expansion of urbanisation in Central Seberang Perai District. Further analysis on data collection using the quantitative and qualitative approach were performed to determine the actual impact of urbanisation on the communities. Results show that the percentage of developed area increased from 51.2% (1999) to 68.6% (2019) within a 5 km radius, and from 29.0% (1999) to 45.6% (2019) within a 10 km radius, according to the urban development map. Although the establishment and existence of the UiTMCPP Permatang Pauh campus can be considered one of the area’s development catalysts, several adjacent educational institutions also contribute to the growth of the region near the UiTM campus.

Abstract:
Blood iron levels play a vital role in oxygen metabolism and energy generation whilst transporter protein, transferrin, binds and delivers iron to the transferrin receptor of endosomal compartments of cells. Consequently, the iron-binding capacity of transferrin is an important indicator for many diseases, and its measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of anaemias. Various assays, including Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC), Unsaturated Iron-Binding Capacity (UIBC) and Transferrin Saturation (TS), were developed to assess the iron-binding capacity of transferrin. Clinically, UIBC is measured in serum by a multi-step liquid ferrozine method and subjected to interference from conditions such as haemolysis and lipemia. Here, we report a quick method that directly measures the concentration of apotransferrin in EDTA-treated plasma, theoretically equivalent to UIBC. Importantly, this supramolecular assembly-based method is more time-efficient, cost-effective and insensitive to serum cation fluctuations. With additional colorimetric property, this method also provides a visual indicator for abnormal health conditions with extreme transferrin statuses such as those found in cancers. Its minimal requirement for equipment would be particularly useful for diagnosis in remote and under-developed regions.
