Abstract:

Understanding the factors that drive green space composition and richness in heterogeneous urban landscapes is critical for maintaining important ecosystem services and biodiversity. Few studies have been conducted on urban greening and plant diversity at the urban functional unit (UFU) level, although a handful of studies have explored the drivers of greening percentage and its relationships with plant richness in tropical cities. In this study, we conducted field surveys, compiled census and remote sensing data, and performed spatial analyses to investigate the interrelationship between greening percentages, plant diversity, and the socioeconomic variables of different primary and secondary UFUs in the cities of Beijing, Zhanjiang, and Haikou in China. We found that these relationships did not differ significantly between primary and secondary UFUs, and that Parks represented the largest areas of forested land, grassland, and water bodies across all three cities. Moreover, the greening percentages of all UFUs across these three cities were positively correlated with both socioeconomic variables and plant species richness. These relationships can be utilized to guide future green space planning within urban ecosystems.

Abstract:

Urban green spaces provide a host of ecosystem services, the quantity and structure of which play an important role in human well-being. Rapid urbanization may modify urban green spaces, having various effects on plant diversity. Tropical coastal cities have urbanized rapidly in recent decades, but few studies have been conducted with a focus on their green spaces. We studied the responses of cultivated and spontaneous plants, both key components of urban flora, to the landscape structure of urban green spaces and possible social drivers. We analyzed existing relationships between plant diversity indices, urban green space landscape metrics (using Systeme Probatoire d’Observation de la Terre (SPOT) data,), and social factors, including the type, population density, construction age, and GPS coordinates of each Urban Functional Unit, or UFU. We found that UFUs with more green space patches had higher cultivated and spontaneous species richness than those with fewer green space patches. Spontaneous species richness decreased when green space patches became fragmented, and it increased when green space patches were more connected (e.g., via land bridges). Conversely, cultivated species richness increased with green space patch fragmentation. The phylogenetic diversity of both cultivated and spontaneous plants were weakly associated with green space structure, which was strongly driven by land use. Old UFUs and those with larger populations had more green space patches overall, although they tended to be small and fragmented. Green space patch density was found to increase as the UFU age increased. From the viewpoint of knowledge transfer, understanding the effects and drivers of landscape patterns of urban green spaces could inform the development of improved policies and management of urban green space areas.

Abstract:

Urushiol derivatives have vast potentials for using as coating materials. However, the cured coatings are quite brittle, limiting their applications. In this study, urushiol-furfural (UFUR) was chosen as an example of urushiol derivatives and a liquid crystal (LC) epoxy resin, tetramethylbiphenyl diglycidyl ether (TMBPDE), was for the first time utilized to modify UFUR. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and solid-state13C nuclear magnetic resonance showed the reactions between TMBPDE and UFUR after the UFUR/TMBPDE composite resin was cured. Differential scanning calorimetry analysis showed that theTgsignificantly increased after the addition of TMBPDE. Thermogravimetry analysis indicated that the cured UFUR/TMBPDE composite resin exhibited increasing thermodecomposition temperature as the TMBPDE concentration increased, indicating its great potential for high temperature applications. Moreover, the presence of TMBPDE enhanced the toughness of UFUR as observed by impact test and reflected in the morphologies observed from SEM images of fracture surfaces. It would also be novel and effective to modify urushiol derivatives by the LC polymer.

In this paper, we establish a mass formula for Euclidean and Hermitian self-orthogonal codes over the finite ring Fq + uFq, where Fq is the finite field of order q and u2 = 0. We also establish a mass formula for Euclidean self-orthogonal codes over the finite ring Fq + uFq + u2Fq, with u3 = 0 and characteristic of Fq is odd. These mass formulas are used to give a classification of Euclidean and Hermitian self-orthogonal codes over F2 + uF2 and F3 + uF3 of small lengths.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to characterize genotypes of the salad-type tomato with a determinate growth habit and select genotypes resistant to the two-spotted spider mite for higher productivity and fruit quality. The experiment was conducted at the Horticultural Experimental Station (18°42’43.19” S and 47°29’55.8” W, 873 m altitude) of the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), Monte Carmelo campus, from January to June 2018. The experimental design was in randomized blocks containing 16 treatments [12 populations of the F3RC2 generation and four controls: two commercial cultivars (Santa Clara and Rio Grande), the recurrent parent (UFU-057) and the wild species Solanum pennellii (LA-716)] with three repetitions. The accessions UFU-057F3RC210#3.6.1 and UFU-057F3RC213#2.1.2 have high potential for genetic improvement regarding resistance to the two-spotted spider mite. The genotypes UFU-13#4.4.1, UFU-7#4.7.1, UFU-7#4.3.2, UFU-13#2.5.2 and UFU-13#2.1.3 present higher acylsugar concentrations than S. pennellii, in addition to higher productivity and number of fruits per plant. It is suggested to explore combinations between those genotypes previously described with UFU-8#2.4.1 to obtain hybrids with high acylsugar concentrations, two-spotted spider mite resistance, high productivity and increased fruit mass.

Field experiments were conducted to Influence of different levels of nitrogen and Azospirillum inoculation on direct-seeded rice in a Vertisol, during kharif season of 2015 at Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, JNKVV, Jabalpur. The experiment was laid out under randomized block design (RBD) with 3 replications and 8 treatments namely (unfertilized+uninoculated (UFUI), recommended dose of nitrogen 50%+uninoculated (RDN50%+UI), RDN75%+UI, RDN100%+UI, UF+Azospirillum (UF+Azosp.,), RDN50%+Azosp., RDN75%+Azosp and RDN100%+Azosp.,). It was observed that significant improvement was noticed in yield attributes and soil properties. The response from the treatment of RDN100% +Azosp., was found statistically best to increase available nitrogen (N) content in soil at 45 DAS and at harvest of the crop by 29% and 27%, respectively and N content in the plant, grain and straw by 46%, 50% and 55%, respectively over the control of UFUI. Similarly, trend was significantly enhanced total N uptake by crop with 129% over the control of UFUI. While, same treatment combination increasing azospiral population in rhizospheric soil at 45 DAS, 65 DAS and at harvest by 2.28, 2.07 and 2.05 log folds, respectively over the control of UFUI and enhanced yield attributes and yields of grain and straw of rice with 113 and 58%, respectively over the control of UFUI. While the treatment RDN100%+Azosp., exhibited numerically higher values but was statistically at par to RDN75%+Azosp.

Abstract:

For the lettuce crop, there is no specific or standard methodology to evaluate genotype resistance of lettuce against downy mildew. Therefore, the aim of this work was to compare three methodologies for the identification of resistance to downy mildew. The experiment was carried out at Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, Monte Carmelo Campus between 2017 and 2018. The statistical method used was a completely randomized design with 12 treatments (cultivar Solaris, used as a control; and 11 genotypes of lettuce F5: 6: UFU-Crespa 75 # 2, UFU-Crespa 189 # 2, UFU-Crespa 206 # 1, UFU-Lisa 66 # 3, UFU-Lisa 66 # 7, UFU-Lisa 215 # 3, UFU-Lisa 215 # 6, UFU-Lisa 215 # 10, UFU-Lisa 215 # 12, UFU-Lisa 215 # 13, UFU-Lisa 215 # 14) and four replications. The seeding of genotypes was carried out in transparent boxes and after 15 days the inoculation was performed using a spore suspension (1x104 sporangia/ml) and sterile deionized water for the controls. The disease progression was assessed by three methods: Mesquita, Dickinson & Crute and Horsfall & Barrat. The data were standardized and submitted to the univariate analysis of variance by the F test and multivariate analyzes. The univariate clustering results allowed the separation of the genotypes into two distinct resistance groups for the Dickinson & Crute and Mesquita methods. In the multivariate analysis, more formation of groups among genotypes with different levels of resistance to downy mildew in the Mesquita method was observed. The methodology proposed by Mesquita was more efficient in discriminating genotypes with different levels of resistance to downy mildew, separating them in a larger number of groups.

ABSTRACT High heterosis values can be obtained using hybrid okra seeds. However, despite high heterotic values, it is very difficult to produce hybrid okra seeds. The objective of this study was to evaluate an experimental methodology of hybridization. Two different methods of hybridization were used: traditional manual hybridization with complete emasculation followed by hand pollination (artificial) and, an experimental methodology, performing manual hybridization with incomplete emasculation followed by entomophilous natural pollination between two inbred lines (UFU-QB-040D and UFU-QB-107G).These inbred lines were obtained from three selection cycles. Three hybrid types were obtained from the two hybridization methods: F1 THM(UFU-QB-040D x UFU-QB-107G), F1 IHM(UFU-QB-107G x UFU-QB-040D) and F1 IHM(UFU-QB-040D x UFU-QB-107G). The resulting hybrid seeds and their parents were evaluated via an experiment set up in a randomized block design with four repetitions. We evaluated fruit production per plant, fruits per plant, number of branchess per plant, superiority of hybrids relative to parents (h) and heterosis (%). At the end of the cycle, morphological characterizations was done of the leaves (pubescence, length and width) and fruit (length, diameter and shape). Heterosis resulting from the incomplete emasculation followed by natural insect pollination was similar to that from the traditional hybrid method, being a viable alternative for the production of hybrid okra seeds without losses in heterosis.

Abstract:

13582 Background: This prospective, nonrandomized study was conducted to compare the efficacy and toxicity of postoperative concurrent chemoradiation therapy (CCRT) using daily oral uracil-tegafur plus leucovorin (UFUR/LV) vs. weekly intravenous fluorouracil plus leucovorin (5-FU/LV) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. Methods: From November 1996 through December 2004, 30 patients with stage II or III rectal cancer were enrolled. Seventeen received oral UFUR/LV regiment and thirteen with intravenous 5-FU/LV regiment during CCRT. A weekly infusion of 400 to 450 mg/m2 of 5-FU plus a bolus injection of 80 to 100 mg/m2 of LV and 250 to 300 mg/m2/d of oral UFUR plus 30 to 45 mg /m2/d of oral LV were given separately during RT and for an additional 42 weeks thereafter. Forty-five Gy of whole-pelvis irradiation was followed by a local boost of 5.4 to 14.4 Gy to the tumor bed delivered in 33 fractions. Analytical method was Kaplan-Meier method. Results: Mean survival in the UFUR/LV group was 36 months compare with 30 months in the 5-FU/LV group. The 2-year OS, DFS and LCR were 68.1% vs. 65.8%, 54.9% vs. 50.4%, and 79.4% vs. 83.9%, (p > 0.05), respectively. There were no treatment-related deaths and grade 4 toxicity in both groups. Grade 3 of dermatitis, gastrointestinal, and hematologic toxicity was noted in the 5-FU/LV group. Conclusions: Postoperative CCRT with oral UFUR/LV in locally advanced rectal cancer provides an alternative way for those who have difficulty with an intravenous regimen due to it was more tolerable and less toxicity and has similar survival rate. No significant financial relationships to disclose.

Prima Ufuk Semesta di Wilayah Jabodetabek.Penelitian ini bersifatkausalitas dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh outlet rekanan PT. Prima Ufuk Semesta di wilayah Jabodetabek, sedangkan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 152outlet. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara kuesioner, dan Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakanStructural Equation Modeling (SEM).Hasil penelitian memberikan bukti empiris bahwa kemampuan tenaga penjualan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja pemasaran, dengan koefisien jalur sebesar 0,260 dan nilai P = 0,006, strategi pelayanan outlet berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja pemasaran dengan koefisien jalur sebesar 0,210 dan nilai P = 0,030. A competição entre os recursos ambientais, imposta pela comunidade infestante, afeta o crescimento, produtividade e qualidade final da soja, prejudicando a colheita, por competição, que aumenta o custo operacional. Outro fator relevante da interferência das plantas infestantes é que estas podem ser hospedeiras de patógenos e pragas, o que dificulta seu controle. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o desempenho agronômico de duas cultivares de soja sujeitas à interferência de plantas infestantes. O experimento foi conduzido na área experimental da Fazenda Capim Branco pertencente à Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, no município de Uberlândia - MG, na safra 2015/2016. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso (DBC) com seis repetições. Foram utilizadas duas cultivares, uma de ciclo precoce (UFUS Capim Branco) e outra de ciclo tardio (UFUS Carajás), avaliadas na presença e ausência de plantas infestante, quanto à altura da planta na maturidade, número de nós na haste principal, número de vagens e produtividade de grãos. Após atender às pressuposições do modelo, os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e ao teste de Tukey (p<0,05). Os resultados refletiram as relações de interferência entre a população de infestantes e a cultura, sendo a família Poaceae a infestante predominante no experimento. Houve aumento na altura média das plantas de soja, redução do número de nós e da produtividade de grãos em ambas cultivares. A cultivar UFUs Capim Branco, sob interferência de infestantes, obteve maior rendimento quando comparada a cultivar de ciclo tardio, UFUS Carajás.

Abstract:

A educação a distância (EaD) desde que foi contemplada na legislação vigente de nosso país, vem conquistando espaço em nossa sociedade e se consolidando como modalidade de ensino. Nessa perspectiva, este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar essa modalidade de ensino na legislação educacional brasileira, bem como apresentar a sua constituição na Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU). Trata-se de um estudo bibliográfico e documental, com coleta de dados no website institucional do Centro de Educação a Distância da UFU (CEaD/UFU). A partir desses levantamentos apresentamos um breve histórico com base na LDB 9394/96 e sua implantação como modalidade de ensino no Brasil, bem como o percurso e sua constituição na UFU. Ao final, consideramos que o percurso na instituição tem avançado e vem conquistando espaço dentro do ambiente acadêmico, confirmando assim, os esforços desenvolvidos pelo CEaD, gestor da EaD na UFU. Abstract:

ABSTRACT The lack of knowledge of the genetic parameters and the type of gene action results in difficulties to obtain varieties that combine agronomic and functional characteristics. The objective of this study was to determine the type of gene action associated with the contents of chlorophyll and agronomic characteristics in lettuce populations. The research was conducted at the Experimental Station of Vegetables, Monte Carmelo, Brazil. To perform the crosses and obtain the generations P1, P2, F1, F2, Bc1 and Bc2 the genotypes UFU-Albina#2, UFU-Albina#3, UFU-Lisa124#2#1, UFU-Crespa199#1#1 and UFU-Lisa217#5#2 were used as parents. The generations were evaluated for three characteristics: number of leaves, plant diameter and chlorophyll content. The parameters: genetic, phenotypic, environmental and additive variance, the dominance in F2, heritability in the broad and narrow-sense, the average degree of dominance based on averages, number of genes, the measure of the dominance deviations, additive effects and all interactions of ‘additive x additive’, ‘additive x dominant’ and ‘dominant x dominant’ type, were evaluated. Chlorophyll content was the most influenced by the environment. Plant diameter had the highest narrow-sense heritability for the cross UFU-Lisa-124#2#1 x UFU-Albina#3 (82.1%). The number of genes for the number of leaves varied from inconclusive to a minimum of 9 genes. The gene interactions for number of leaves were of overdominance type, while for plant diameter and for chlorophyll content the gene interactions were of partial dominance. The characteristics are suggested as being of polygenic or oligogenic nature.

Abstract:

Background and Aims: Patients undergoing upper endoscopy have often used proton pump inhibitors (PPI) and/or antibiotics (ABx) recently. Both drugs have been associated with a poorer yield of the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) diagnostic tests. The aim was to assess the accuracy of the polymerase chain reaction test (qPCR), histological exam (HE) and ultra-fast urease test (UFUT) for H. pylori detection in patients that recently used PPI or ABx. Methods: Prospective study recruiting 206 patients who underwent upper endoscopy and gastric biopsies. Demographics and use of PPI/ABx were obtained. Sensibility (Sn), specificity (Sp), predictive value (PV), likelihood ratio (LR) and PABAK concordance index, were calculated, considering as the gold standard the positivity of 2 out of 3 analyzed tests. A global analysis and another one based on the PPI/ABx intake were performed. Results: 48.5% of patients used PPI and 12.8% ABx within the 2 and 4 weeks prior to endoscopy, respectively. The UFUT was positive in 13.1% of patients, HE in 34% and qPCR in 35.9%. UFUT achieved lower Sn (37%) than HE (98%) and qPCR (98%) (p<0.001) overall. ABx were associated with lower Sn in HE (p=0.04) and lower Sp in qPCR (p=0.03). PPI did not associate with a significant drop in Sn and Sp. The concordance between HE and qPCR was 0.83 (95%CI: 0.73-0.89). Conclusions: Under real world conditions, the accuracy and concordance of HE and qPCR to diagnose H. pylori were excellent, but UFUT achieved unsatisfactory outcomes. The intake of ABx was associated with the worse performance, fundamentally for HE. The PPI did not reduce the tests‘ yield significantly.

ABSTRACT The genotypes evaluation in a germplasm bank is essential to determine their commercial or usefulness, as potential parents, in a breeding program. We aimed to detect the genetic diversity of 42 tomato genotypes of cherry type, belonging to the germplasm bank of the Federal University of Uberlândia and, also evaluate their behavior. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in randomized block design with 42 treatments and two replications. Ten quantitative traits of agronomic importance were evaluated. The genetic divergence was obtained by multivariate analysis, using the Mahalanobis distance with different clustering methods (UPGMA and Tocher). The hybrids performance was compared by Scott-Knott (p= 0.05) and Dunnett’s test (p= 0.05). UPGMA and Tocher grouped the genotypes similarly, representing genetic divergence satisfactorily. The genotypes UFU 29, UFU 21 and UFU 07 were more productive, earlier and also divergent from the pre-commercial treatment (UFU 200), being able to be used as potential parents.

Acervos arqueológicos resultantes dos resgates realizados nas décadas de 1980-90, na bacia do rio Araguari, Minas Gerais, se constituem em uma expressiva coleção que não recebeu tratamento e destinação adequados. Um grande esforço coletivo está permitindo, porém, a realização de algumas reflexões dessa coleção em relação a um trabalho transdisciplinar para a constituição do MAnA-UFU. Para ilustrar esse esforço, neste artigo o exercício será de, por um lado, cotejar parte desse material com fontes documentais; e, por outro, indicar os possíveis diálogos e apropriações de acervos musealizados por parte das populações indígenas atuais. Se bem-sucedida, essa tentativa abrirá possibilidades de pesquisas, gestão e guarda desse acervo na perspectiva dos diálogos, num movimento que gera elementos e sentimentos de pertencimento.

A ocorrência de adversidades climáticas cada vez mais frequente e intensas tem representado um serio problema à produção agrícola, principalmente na fase de estabelecimento do stand inicial na cultura da soja. O déficit hídrico é um dos estresses que mais limitam a produtividade desta cultura, principalmente na fase de germinação. O polietilenoglicol (PEG) tem sido comumente utilizado como agente osmótico para simular condições de déficit hídrico, por ser um composto quimicamente inerte, não tóxico, que apresenta alto peso molecular e não é absorvido pelas sementes. Dentro deste contexto o objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a germinação de cultivares de soja submetidas ao déficit hídrico induzido por polietilenoglicol. Foram avaliadas três cultivares de soja, UFUS Guarani, UFUS Xavante e MG/BR 46 Conquista quanto à tolerância ao déficit hídrico induzido por polietilenoglicol nos potenciais osmóticos, 0; -0,2; -0,4; -0,6; -0,8 MPa em condições de laboratório. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi de blocos casualizados com três repetições. As variáveis avaliadas foram porcentagem de plântulas normais e comprimento total de plântulas. O desempenho de cada cultivar depende do potencial osmótico em que a mesma foi submetida, sendo que a concentração de polietilenoglicol 6000 reduziu de forma diferenciada a porcentagem de germinação das cultivares de soja. A cultivar UFUS Xavante apresenta maior estabilidade na fase de germinação em condições de déficit hídrico induzido por Polietilenoglicol 6000.

Abstract:

Background A 76-year-old woman underwent a low anterior resection in May 2000 for a moderately differentiated Dukes' C adenocarcinoma of rectum. She started to take futraful and leucovorin as adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery. A chest X-ray taken 7 months later was reported as having an irregular soft tissue nodule in right middle lung field. A subsequent computerized tomography (CT) scan of chest confirmed the lesion. A thoracotomy was suggested; however, the patient refused surgery. She also refused needle biopsy of the lung lesion for making a definite diagnosis. Case summary The patient had been continuously taking futraful and leucovorin as chemotherapeutic agent; in July 2001 she was switched to tegafur-uracil (UFUR) and leucovorin. She was admitted in October 2005 for shortness of breath. After conservative management, her condition improved and she was discharged. The patient still refused any workup for tissue diagnosis and any further aggressive treatment. Since then, she had been continuously taking UFUR and leucovorin then. An abdominal CT scan of in December 2009 was negative for metastasis. Several ultrasound examinations were also reported as having no metastasis in the follow-up period. A chest CT scan did show slow enlargement of the lung metastasis. Her carcinoembryonic antigen level was 3.85 ng/mL prior to surgery, and then fluctuated between 2.42 ng/mL and 6.34 ng/mL. In spite of progressive enlargement of the mass in her lung, the patient is asymptomatic and living well by herself. The only medication she is taking at the moment is UFUR and leucovorin. Conclusions This case suggested that long-term survival could be observed in a patient with metastatic disease from rectal cancer without aggressive chemotherapy. The metronomic effect of UFUR and leucovorin might be contributory to the patient's long-term survival. Elevation of CEA level is not necessarily observed with the presence and progress of metastasis of rectal cancer.

ABSTRACT The correct characterization of germplasm banks is fundamental for breeders to succeed in breeding programs. Several studies have sought to obtain genotypes with resistance to pests. However, there is no consensus about which methodology is the most appropriate to characterize a germplasm bank of tomato with different levels of resistance to pests. The objective of this study was to compare methods of multivariate analysis for the evaluation of genetic diversity in tomato genotypes with different levels of resistance to pests. The experiments were conducted at the Vegetable Experimental Station of the Federal University of Uberlândia - Monte Carmelo campus (18º 42’ 43.19” South latitude and 47º 29’ 55.8” West longitude, 873 m altitude), in the period from April 2013 to November 2016. Sixteen genotypes were evaluated from the interspecific cross between LA-716 (S. pennellii) versus pre-commercial line (UFU-057) followed by backcrossing and self-fertilization, along with the pre-commercial line UFU-057 (recurrent parent) Santa Clara and the wild accession S. pennellii (donor genitor). The contents of acylsugar, foliar trichomes, South American tomato pinworm and leaf miner repellency tests were analyzed. The experimental design was the randomized block design totaling 76 plots (19 genotypes x 4 blocks). It was concluded that there was genetic variability among the evaluated genotypes. The method of graphic dispersion by principal components revealed a greater power of discrimination. Genotypes UFU-057F2RC27#4.3, UFU-057F2RC28#2.2 and UFU-057F2RC27#4.7 contain the highest levels of acylsugar, resistance to Liriomyza spp. and T. absoluta.

A fim de ampliar as opções ao cultivo da soja, a Universidade Federal de Uberlândia lançou a cultivar UFUS-Imperial, proveniente do cruzamento entre (Msoy 8411xMsoy 8914) x (Emgopa 313xTucano). A cultivar apresentou resistência ao acamamento, à deiscência da vagem e aos patógenos: Fusarium solani, Cercospora sojina, Peronospora manshurica, Xanthomonas campestris pv. glycines e Diaporthe phaseolorum f.sp. meridionalis, e resistência parcial a Septoria glycines, Erysiphe diffusa e Phakopsora pachyrhizi. O rendimento dessa cultivar, em ensaios regionais, foi 45% superior ao da testemunha Msoy 6101, e é indicada para o Estado de Mato Grosso.

Abstract:

Este texto tem como objetivo analisar o Programa de Extensão Integração UFU/Comunidade (Peic) entre os anos de 2003 e 2015, no sentido de compreender o seu papel no fazer extensionista e na formação dos discentes dos cursos de licenciatura da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), que atuam como bolsistas dos projetos ligados à educação. Neste estudo, de caráter documental, destacamos as mudanças ocorridas nos objetivos do Peic e o crescimento progressivo dos recursos destinados ao programa no período recortado para a pesquisa. Analisando os resultados dos projetos apoiados pelo Programa, percebe-se que a maioria apresenta produção de conhecimento na forma de publicações, indicando o compartilhamento de resultados para fora dos limites dos mesmos. Por outro lado, entende-se que é necessário aprofundar a avaliação dos alunos participantes do Peic, de forma a realimentar o fazer extensionista da UFU.

This article discusses linear complementary dual (LCD) codes over ℜ = Fq+uFq(u2=1) where q is a power of an odd prime p. Authors come up with a new Gray map from ℜn to F2nq and define a new class of codes obtained as the gray image of constacyclic codes over .ℜ Further, we extend the study over Euclidean and Hermitian LCD codes and establish a relation between reversible cyclic codes and Euclidean LCD cyclic codes over ℜ. Finally, an application of LCD codes in multisecret sharing scheme is given.

Abstract:

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to compare methods of multivariate analysis on the evaluation of genetic diversity of mini tomato and to identify promising genotypes with resistance to pests. The experiment was conducted at the Vegetable Experiment Station of the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, Monte Carmelo campus, from April 2013 to November 2016. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with 16 treatments and four replications totaling 64 plots, and each plot represented by five plants. Sixteen genotypes were characterized, 12 from the F2RC1 generation, obtained through the interspecific crossing between the wild access LA-716 (Solanum pennellii) and pre-commercial lines of mini tomato (UFU-73 and UFU-2) (Solanum lycopersicum) and the UFU-2 lines. The content of acyl sugar, the amount of glandular trichomes (types I, IV, VI and VII), twospotted spider mite and whitefly resistance were evaluated. We concluded that there exist genetic variability between the genotypes. The number of groups formed by the canonical variated analysis was higher (four groups) than that obtained by the Tocher method (three groups) and UPGMA (three groups), demonstrating a greater discrimination power. The Tocher and UPGMA methods were consistent in the analysis of the genetic divergence in pest resistant germplasm of tomato, with the acyl sugar content being the most important variable. Genotype UFU-73-F2RC1 # 11 is resistant to pest attack, while the other studied lines have intermediate resistance.

ABSTRACT The selection of genotypes with agronomic potential associated with drought tolerance is considered of high complexity. An alternative could be the use of selection indexes that can evaluate multiple characteristics simultaneously. This study aimed to select tomato genotypes with agronomic potential and drought tolerance by selection indexes. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with three replications. Ten treatments were evaluated: seven genotypes F2RC3, donor genitor (Solanum pennellii), recurrent genitor (UFU-040), and cv. Santa Clara. The irrigation was suspended until the substrate reached a matric potential of ≤-25 kPa for water stress simulation during the tomato cycle at 45, 60, 80 and 100 days after sowing. The control treatment (donor genitor) and cv. Santa Clara, were resistant and susceptible to water deficit, respectively. The UFU-102-RC3#91335 genotype presented agronomic potential and satisfactory tolerance level to water deficit and presented 58.2% higher production than the recurrent genitor (UFU-040). The genotype-ideotype distance selection index was the most appropriate for the selection of tomato genotypes for agronomic potential allied to drought tolerance.
